he always had a dream of finally making it out of his dreary town and making something big out of his life. he had never imagined that being an idol would bring that dream to fruition, but when he was scouted on the street at 17, he finally saw the light that could lead him there. rainbow entertainment had a struggling image at the time, it's only group one that no one had ever heard of. his mom thought the whole thing was a sham, and was reluctant to send her son all the way to seoul to follow some pipe dream, considering he had no real experience in any sort of performing. not to mention the shitty boyfriend of the hour telling him he was good-for-nothing anyway. but no one could say he wasn’t driven, and booking the cheapest flight he could for the very next week, he made it all the way to korea, passed the audition, and eventually into stardom. he still sends money home to his mom, despite never planning on returning to her house ever again.

was literally so bad. so so so bad. you know that story about svt’s mingyu literally clapping along to the national anthem in flip flops during his pledis audition? yeah. it was like that. he clapped along to an etoile song and did a little shimmy here and there and the panel was like i guess he’s pretty and he could theoretically be given some technique.

has improved a lot from the mediocre trainee he was before to solidly average! he’s not going to be top of technique anytime soon in any category, but he makes up for it by being charming and cute and giving really great performances so you can kind of forget the fact his dancing isn’t all that consistent and his voice isn’t that amazing.

not legally a dumbass, but like. he’s a dumbass. was once told to film a cover for the ysboys yt content and ended up falling asleep so the media department got like 15 minutes of dancing and 3 hours of a boy napping. top of his class in math but lacks any critical thinking skills. was asked to contribute to the snack fund and went “lets get some bananas how much could they be? 10,000 won?”

// ( ♦ ) ROYAL BOYS DEBUT CONCEPT RELEASED!

ROYAL Entertainment has a long list of popular girl groups on its back as a product of Seo Jisub’s supposed success formula. Whenever news comes of something the company may be planning, interest automatically peaks from netizens all around the country and, recently, each time more internationally as well.

While still keeping that in mind, the company has decided to invest in a brand new project. Having tested some trainees on their various abilities throughout the past month, ROYAL has taken that into consideration while planning who should carry on this company’s legacy.

Following expectations of when exactly ROYAL Entertainment would decide to make use of their male trainees, the company has decided to put together a new boy group that’ll bring together everything the company is known to have been good at from the start of its history up to today. This mixture of various talents and aspirations will result in one powerful group. They will be the ones called DE:CODE.

DE:CODE will consist of nine debut-ready male trainees from ROYAL Entertainment. Their discography will be inspired by the real-life VICTON and PENTAGON. ‘Inspired’ will not mean ‘identical,’ as the mods reserve the right to pick and choose the order of released songs when we feel the time and concept is just right.

The nine boys currently slated to debut with DE:CODE are Byun Baekhyun, Jeon Wonwoo, Jung Jaehyun, Kim Hongjoong, Kim Mingyu, Lee Minho, Lee Seunghwan, Park Jihoon, and Yoo Seonho. Their positions have all been assigned as seen below:

Lastly, there is no need to marry yourselves to real-life VICTON/PENTAGON counterparts, as you do not have them. We believe in the personal growth of Rookies characters and that means you are not limited to matching the skill-set of an actual member of these two groups. Feel free to develop your muse as you see fit; the mods will be the ones to distribute song parts to those who suit them when the time comes.

Now that you have your assigned roles in the group, So Jisub expects all of DE:CODE’s members to follow through on the training regimen the Royal coaches have put together for each individual boy. OOC-wise, following the regimen is completely optional, though it should be said that the choices listed on the document are optimized for future planned projects for the group. You do have the option to opt-out of special training and continue to do the regular workshops if desired. All boys who wish to participate in this debut group must send in a statement of intent to ROYAL’s submission box either accepting or rejecting this group offer. These will be due by midnight EST at the end of Wednesday, September 4th. Important: if you do not send in a statement by this deadline, you will not be in the group.

Important to note: the details regarding DE:CODE’s concept are not to be shared with the public or to anyone outside of the Royal company. So Jisub has a promotional plan in place for DE:CODE over the next few months and does not wish to have the exciting surprise leaked out before the official news is released!

Hello, lovelies!! It’s hard for us to believe, but today, August 6th, 2017, marks one year since our former Admin Jaerim welcomed us both as Mod Woo and Mod Gyu. It’s crazy to think that we’ve been watching over our home for so long already— We know that over the past year, there have been some tough times and that MI has gone through a lot of changes both aesthetically and structurally, and we’re incredibly grateful to you all, old and new, for being a part of MI’s growth and our family for the past 365 days. It’s thanks to all of you that we have such an incredibly fun time running Murder Inc., and we’re just as excited — if not more! — to see where the future takes us in the years to come.

So, to celebrate the past year and all of that fun we’ve had, we’d like to invite you all to take part in the second iteration of mi:playlist! Some of you may have already made playlists for the mini event last time around, or for your own enjoyment in the mean time, but this time, it’s a little different.

In honour of all the development our muses have gone through in the past year, your mission is to create a playlist based around anything your muse has experienced in that time. Anything from August 6th 2016 to August 6th 2017 is fair game — be it the life-changing decision to pledge your allegiance to a gang or that one time they got a little too drunk and tried to do The Worm and failed; anything goes! Perhaps your muse met the love of their life this past year or made a mortal enemy, or perhaps they grew even closer to their best friend or reunited with a family member — feel free to make a playlist about their relationships, too; NPC or otherwise!

As always, this event is completely optional and open to all members, no matter how long you or your muse have been here. We treasure every single one of you and we look forward to seeing what you guys create! Make sure to tag all your playlists (make as many as your heart desires!) with mi:playlist as before, so that we and all the members can find them with ease. one year on.

so, i’m a little late with this (aren’t I always), but april 4th at 19 minutes past midnight british standard time was wonwoo’s one year anniversary. some of you might know that I’ve been with mi since it reopened in december 2015, so whilst it isn’t my anniversary, it’s still !! extremely exciting for me and for my dumb son who hasn’t shut up about it since it happened.

wonwoo is the first muse i’ve played that... stretched my comfort zone. his twisted morals, his history, a great deal of his interests and even his softest hopes and dreams are all characteristics I’d never tried before. it was actually bek that persuaded me to play him for real. he’d been knocking around in my head, bothering me, for a little while, but I’d have had to drop my old muse to bring him in and I felt so guilty about potentially doing it. but it got to a point where I didn’t enjoy my old muse anymore, because I knew that I was just keeping him around to please others, when I really wanted to play this loser. so I dropped, and I brought wonwoo in immediately and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. now I have a wonderful wife, a thoroughly developed muse (who just keeps on surprising me; just yesterday he informed me of his desire to garden. I don’t even fucking know), and a home here with you all at murder inc.

so. in honour of wonwoo’s one year, we’re going to take a trip down memory lane. we’re going to take a look back at as many of the most amusing and most defining moments in wonwoo’s first year here with you all. thank you for being here with him, with me, for however long or short you have been. I love and appreciate every single one of you so incredibly much. here’s to many more years to come! ♥

the hardest month of mingyu’s depression. a lot happened between them, for their bond and his recovery. wonwoo secretly took on all of mingyu’s hits alongside his own, to keep their statuses in the gang. he started his long break from the cafe, and focused as much of his time on helping mingyu recover. his health deteriorated rapidly.

november 18th marks meanie’s first (and second, and third, and fourth and so on) kiss and the start of their relationship. wonwoo gives mingyu the journal he’d written in over mingyu’s depression to help him cope. starts thinking about his own recovery, too.

wonwoo’s !! favourite time of the year is christmas, so he was very, very happy all month. he decorated the whole apartment, spent the big day with mingyu and his grandfather, and delivered presents to eris and @miroyce beforehand, and he was just !! so happy !!

January

Minghao remembered how snow dotted your hair and coat. Gently he had brushed it off, but you hadn't noticed. Your eyes were glued to your cell phone screen, rapidly typing with only your thumbs. The name at the top read: JunJun.

"Is he coming?" Minghao had leant over to get a better look but before he could even catch a glimpse of the conversation, you pulled your phone to your chest with an alarmed expression. "Junhui, I meant."

Minghao had felt attacked. You weren't the type to hide things, especially from him.

"He's busy today, he asked to take a rain check," You replied with a smile that seemed to ease the tightness in his chest. "I have to go as well, right now. I'm helping my mum prepare for new years. See you, Monday?"

"Yeah, it's okay," Minghao smiled, small creases forming around his eyes. "See you then."

Minghao stood patiently as he watched you take off in the other direction because every now and then, you would turn back and give him another wave with a wide smile plastered on your face; he lived for that smile.

February

You never turned up that Monday. And Minghao hadn't seen you since.

No one was to blame, work was always in the way and besides, both of you had other friends. A lot of other friends as it seemed.

Now, it didn't happen often, maybe once or twice a year, but by luck or by sheer determination, the whole group would find a time, day and place to all gather together. Minghao recalled this day as crystal clear because the snow was beginning to fade and he bought expensive, red shoe laces that he never used.

First, he arrived early at the bowling alley and the staff told him he couldn't enter until the one who had made the reservation arrived. That was Jun.

While he was waiting, a few others arrived; Jeonghan, Minhyuk and Sehun. They were all tall and handsome, walking with a kind of confidence that made them untouchable. Minghao envied that, perhaps if he had been more like them, you would have noticed sooner.

The next group to arrive was a few of his colleagues; Soonyoung, Seokmin, Seungkwan and Jihoon. Whilst the former three were joking loudly, Jihoon had earphones in and his hands were in his pockets. Typical. The next were Jisoo, Hansol and Seungcheol, then Jungkook, Mingyu, Wonwoo and Yugyeom.

Then the two of you arrived. Minghao remembered because he was happiest to see the two of you. Jun had his arm around your shoulder and you were wearing his scarf.

Minghao had given Jun that scarf as a Christmas present, but he didn't mind.

While you and Minghao sat, waiting for your turn, he showed you the shoelace he bought. They were red and thin. You play around, tying one end to his pinky and the other to yours. Then you had taken his end off of his finger and slipped in into Jun's.

The shoelace broke when you tried to untie the ends.

March

For two nights you had stayed over at Minghao's. You wouldn't tell him why but he didn't need to know because you were happy.

On the last night, both of you leant out his window together to try to get a glimpse of his neighbour's cat. It was sleek black and green eyed. The two of you joked that it looked like Jun. That night, Minghao noticed that everything went back to Jun.

And he should have seen it coming.

April

Minghao had begun to think that summer was on its way.

The two of you strolled down the park, a drink in hand from a cheap coffee shop. You had your arm wrapped around his and he was holding your shopping bags. Between yourselves, you shared jokes and stories about how your life had been as of late.

That was when you told him.

"Minghao," your steps faltered as you began with an edge to your voice. "I like somebody."

"Who?"

"Promise you won't laugh?" You held back an embarrassed grin.

"Just tell me," Minghao smiled back.

"Jun."

Minghao told you he was happy, and he was.

That night, snow fell again; an April miracle. But Minghao had a cold nose all night.

May

Minghao had put in a good word or two, but the relationship wasn't budging from friend zone.

He was happy that month.

June

This was the first time Minghao understood the magic of summer as he watched you fall in love slowly with Jun,.

You and Jun had shared a kissed and you had gushed to Minghao. He responded with the right reaction, the right kind of cheerful smile, the right kind of racy jokes. And yet the two of you knew that something was beginning to feel awkward.

Minghao thought it'd be best not to address this and move on. The following week, he asked Jun if he would want to go watch a movie with some friends. Minghao called "sick" last minute, and you and Jun watched a movie. But it was an action film with a shitty plotline and romantic subplot.

Late at night, Minghao answered a call from you.

"I wish you were there."

His heart sang so loud the heavens could hear.

July

Minghao and Jun had met for drinks one Friday night.

The two talked a lot about you. Minghao talked about how kind you were and Jun told him about how pretty he found you.

"They've got a great body, you know? Like, it's just like my type," Jun laughed. "I like them, you know?"

"You've got a funny taste," Minghao joked. "Yeah, though. They're pretty, I guess. Good to hang out with."

"I'm going to ask her out."

August

It was still scorching hot, Minghao remembered because he had sweat through two t-shirts in one day.

You and Jun had been dating for a month now. It made Minghao wonder if it could have been him.

September

"I haven't seen you in a while," Minghao pulled you in for a hug.

You, Minghao, Jun, Lalisa, BamBam and Mingyu were supposed to have dinner together.

Shyly you had pushed away, eyes darting towards Jun. "Sorry."

Minghao remembered the time you had hid your cell phone from his eyes. The feeling stung as much as it had the first time.

October

Minghao was okay with just being your friend.

Until it happened.

November

He doesn't remember the smell. Everyone says they remember and hated the smell, but he doesn't.

What he remembers are your hands that twitched and your face that paled. He remembered sleeping in fold-out chairs beside your hospital bed and the feeling of resent towards Jun.

Jun had called it quits with you after a week of your comatose. Minghao had never punched anyone until the moment he had said, "I can't deal with this. I can't take care of her if she's fucked up somewhere."

Smack.

The whole ward had fallen silent except for Minghao's heavy breathing. Soonyoung who was usually a joker had stepped up to scold both of them. Tzuyu drove Jun home and Minghao stayed at the hospital for five days straight. The last Minghao heard was that Jun had moved to live with his uncle Heechul in Seoul with a job in politics.

You woke up on the last day of November.

December

Minghao had patched it over with Jun through a few texts and facetimes. Mostly because Mingyu insisted.

"I don't want to be blunt, Minghao," Mingyu began. "But I think you like them."

"Who?"

"You know who." Mingyu said. He looked over his shoulder and look towards Minghao’s couch where you were wedged between Jisoo and Hansol watching Drake music videos and creating Tupac theories.

January

You and Minghao kissed on New Years.

You were in his room. Everything was hushed and softened by the dark. Minghao took your hand in his, there was something about the moment that let both of you know it was alright. It was awkward and weird but it made Minghao feel like he was flying.

The two of you never talked about it afterwards.

February

Minghao held your coffee and his own, standing on the edge of the park, waiting for you. The snow had begun to thin out and Minghao remembered because his shoes were soaked in the melted puddles.

He had finished his coffee and trashed your cold one by the time you walked around the corner, tightly wrapped in a coat. When your eyes met, a smile spread across your face and Minghao thought the wait was worth it.

You began running and Minghao opened his arms. When the two of you had collided, you kissed him.

How could he forget that?

March

You held each other's hand underneath the table during dinner. Nayeon sitting next to Minghao noticed but Shownu sitting next you didn't - he was too busy eating.

Many things had changed since last time they all hung out at the bowling alley.

Jun was not with them, Mingyu and Wonwoo were engaged, Jeonghan and Sehun had had a falling out over a boy named Johnny and Chan graduated university. Seungcheol moved to Seoul, Seungkwan finally got his driver's license and Chanyeol moved back from Seoul.

And you were all his.

April

Minghao couldn’t help but keep count of the days.

The day you shared a bed, the day you bought him flowers, the day you watched a movie all day, the day you tried to exercise but had ice cream instead, the day you met his parents and the day he met yours.

Summer was on it’s way.

May

Three months.

Minghao remembered the first time you two had sex. He was twice sure to be careful. For the sake of the mood you had tried to put on music but it was only distracting.

Minghao still remembered being happy.

June

Jun came back from Seoul for summer. It was awkward at first, but Minghao had missed Jun.

After all, they had been best friends.

Beside, Jun had started seeing someone in Seoul. A pretty, tall boy named Seungjun. Minghao remembered seeing a picture of him briefly on Jun’s background.

You weren’t upset, and Minghao remembered thinking that was all that mattered.

July

Summertime was magic. Minghao remembered thinking the same thing the year before.

When he told you this, you laughed and it was like a weight was lifted from Minghao’s chest.

“You remember thinking that from a year ago?” You asked.

“I remember a lot of things from a year ago,” Minghao replied with a toothy grin.

“Will you remember me in a year?” You leaned in.

“Without a doubt.”

“Feeling someone tap on her shoulder, Alice just had a gut feeling she fucked up. She had probably walked into some restricted area and was about to be kicked out by some burly security guard. Or that’s what she thought. Her cheeks were bright red from embarrassment. Quickly turning around, she was already bowing and apologizing to the stranger for wandering where she shouldn’t have.

The look of relief that came onto Alice’s face was priceless. Hearing that voice made her stop mid-bow and actually look up, realizing it wasn’t actually a stranger. The redness of her cheeks remained but instead of embarrassment from walking around aimlessly like a lost deer, it was embarrassment from Lilith’s comment when there were definitely more beautiful smiles around them. After all, only the best could be models and they were deep in the heart of this company’s fashion department.

“Unnie..!” The whine escaped from Alice’s lips as soon as she realizes the person she was looking for was actually standing right in front of her. She brings her hands up to her cheeks, willing the blush to go away. “I thought you’d be in your office. I kind of got lost I guess.” She giggles softly and shakes her head.”

After their hardwork on the previous months, DE:CODE managed to complete their tasks for their pre-debut project. Starting the new year means starting the year of their debut, which they may now put they full focus on.

Your manager stands brightly with you on the first day of the year, and so both your vocal and dance coaches walk in. “Good morning.” When they stand in front of you, the pile of papers in Soonyang’s hands appear to shine. It’s obvious that your debut lines are only a few steps away, but still unreachable. “Admittedly, I took your progress throughout the month more into account than your performance yesterday,” the woman starts, “I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to remember all of it on the following day.” Soonyang lets out a heavy sigh and motions for the leader to grab the pile from her. “And that day is today.”

On the paper each of them received, they’ll find their assigned lines for ‘Gorilla’. “Don’t be disappointed by it.” Her eyes are serious as she eyes each one of the boys. “There were fewer lines to choose from this time. We’re focused on making this a grand performance, and we hope you’re focused on that, too. As always, we’ll follow the lines by presenting to you the choreography. We’ll be expecting to see you perform like a powerful gorilla by the end of the month. Does everyone understand?”

She waits for a reply then nods, motioning for Jaekyung to take over. “Well, then, we’ll see each other later. You’re really close now.”

The main focus this month will be for the boys to finalize their debut songs preparations. With the focus on debuting during the first quarter of the year, they’ll all have to work harder than ever to prove they’ll be the rookies to fear.

First up, they’ll all have to learn the choreography for ‘Gorilla’. The song will start with Wonwoo as center. During the outro, Jaehyun will start by himself (Yuto) before Wonwoo and Minho start dancing (Kino and Hongseok), then Mingyu brings Jihoon and Hongjoong with him (Wooseok, E’Dawn, and Hui). As usual, they’ll have to perform at the end of the month in front of their coaches.

They’ll also be introduced to the b-side tracks for their first mini-album. These can all be found here, and their lines were distributed based on what was observed during these months of practice. They’ll be taking to the recording room on the dates that’ll be listed below in order of age. The one recording next is expected to wait in the room to make the process as smooth as possible. Once you’re done, go back to practice and tell the next one to go up.

Apart from all of this, you may submit between today and January 8th a stage name idea for your DE:CODE muse. You may simply submit the name you’d like or add an explanation to it.
