Hello everyone!! Today I grow a year older :3 (and I hate it lmao) FEEL FREE TO REPLY BIRTHDAY WISHES IF YOU WANT :3

So, over the time I've come back here, I've become pretty confident and proud of my once hidden passion about sick characters, sickfics and sick comfort/whump... 🌡️

And you all have been so supportive and sweet despite my weirdness so I thank you for that. You helped me feel more confident in my otherwise weird fixation <3 So, for my birthday I thought I'd try and make up a little drawing challenge for anyone who wants to give it a try... There are soo many talented artists on this site (and in this fandom)

So... It's your turn to target your faves now. You will see how fun it is and hopefully understand why I love doing it so much. 😈🌡️

So here's the challenge and the rules!! (featuring my two main lil targets ofc :3)

Regardless of who it is, put your fave through some sickness hell >:3c I'd love to see it! Make em' as miserable as you want!

If you're in the RainCode community you can target anyone, but as you know, my main targets are Yuma and Makoto. If they're also your faves and who you decide to use, that will make me extra happy!

Some tips for anyone new to drawing a sick day scenario art. A few things that make it look convincing are the following:

Pajamas or Loungewear

Messy Bed Hair

Fever flushed face w sweat or at least a red nose

Tired Eye bags

Shivery body

Ice Pack or a Compress on the head

Thermometer sticking from their mouth

LOTS OF BLANKETS

Tissues or medicine surrounding them

Tea or Soup (or both)

Those are just to name some from the top of my head. If you'd like some pointers on how to make a character look ill, check out my Fever Coloring Guide. This is for digital artists but traditional artists can try it too!

You can add injury or angst to the scene but I'd like illness to be the main focus of it.

The scene can be anything you want to, it can be fluffy and wholesome (with a caretaker) it can be angsty, or it can be silly. Its all up to you! Do it for the sake of fluff! Caretaking scenes are the best for any kind of relationship >w<

Either way, have fun with it!! I look forward to see what people make if they decide to give it a try! It doesn't even have to be a full on picture! Doodles and sketches are fine too! Just show me something >w<

Just make a cute story about your fave being miserable and being tended to! Trust me, it's super fun!

Beach Day

“I cannot wait to just lay out on the beach all day,” your voice broke the silence in the car. 

You were currently going into hour 2 of your road trip down to the Tijuana Beach with a group of the Mayan boys. It was an annual trip that started about 5 years ago. It was nice for them to take a break from club things and for you to finally get some vacation time in with your boyfriend, who at the moment seemed less than thrilled. 

You glanced over at Angel who had a serious facial expression on display for the entire car ride as he drove down to the usual beach house you rented. 

“If you want we can pull over and I can drive us the rest of the way?” You offered up something that maybe would alleviate whatever was going on in his head. 

“Nah, I’m good.” He shook his head, keeping his right hand on the wheel while his left hung out the window. 

You glanced back at EZ, hoping that maybe he would offer some type of explanation of why his brother, your boyfriend, was acting the way he was. EZ’s head tilted as he shrugged indicating he didn't know what was going on with his older brother. To break the tension that Angel kept alive and well in the car, you turned in the passenger seat so you could look back at EZ and talk with him. 

“So, tell me. What have you been up to? I hear you’ve had a girl around. I want to know everyyyyything.” You carried out the last word to come off less strong. You never liked to pry with EZ but you liked being in the know of what was happening in each of the guys’ personal lives.

His smile filled his face as he looked down. You could have even swore he blushed a little, too. “It’s nothing.” He spoke through his grin. 

You smiled back, for the trauma each of the Reyes men had gone through they all sure had the most contagious smiles. “EZ, come on. It’s me, just give me something. A name? Her favorite color? I’ll take anything.” You begged for him to drop a crumb of information. 

“Sofía. And I think she likes yellow.” He mocked you while still giving you the details you were dying for. 

“Tell her to come to the beach house.” It was said nonchalantly as to not apply pressure and went to grab a snack from your backpack. 

“It’s new, not sure if I’m ready to put her through your beach house screening test just yet.” EZ laughed. 

You waved him off, “Ugh, you know that’s only for the two idiots in the van behind us.” Referring to Coco and Gilly you waved your hand in the air. “They would bring those weird guys from the Yuma charter if they could, and I fucking hate those guys. Which is why they have to run their plus one’s past me. Now you EZ, I trust,” you handed him one of the snacks you grabbed and then one to Angel, “BUT, I digress. You bring her around when you’re ready.” 

The remainder of the car ride went by fast, it helped that Coco and Gilly had pulled up next to the truck and baited Angel into racing, you normally would have put some type of discourse up but it seemed to lighten Angel’s mood a bit so you let them have their fun. 

The beach house was perfect, in fact, it was one of your favorite places in the world. Once you found it online all those years ago, there was no way you were going to book any other house along the Mexican coast ever again. It was right on the beach, the front porch of the house led right onto the sand, which might as well have been private since only a handful of people ever walked by or shared the space with you. 

It was still early enough in the day that the group of you could get in some beach time. You already had your suit on so you just grabbed a chair and your book, announcing your plans as you exited the house after claiming bedrooms and settling your stuff down. 

“I’ll be on the beach, feel free to join me!” 

Just as you sat down in the beach chair and leaned back, you could hear the complaints from the eldest Reyes grow louder and louder as he got closer to your spot on the beach. 

“Fuckin’ hot out here. And there’s fuckin’ sand everywhere. I got sand everywhere,” he mumbled as he threw his towel down next to you. 

“Do you want to sit in the chair? I’ll take the towel?” You offered a semi-solution to his grievances. 

He stared at you, he wanted to snap, but when his eyes met yours he calmed for a moment, he wasn’t mad at you, in fact he had been excited for this trip, he loved that you did this every year not only for him but the guys too. There had just been so much shit happening at the club lately and of course right before they left Bishop had told them they were all on call. It was why they took the two cars in the first place, that and because three years ago they were in the situation where something with the club popped up and they had to all leave early since there was only one car, and you were NOT going to have that ever happen again. 

“Angel?” The sunglasses were now sliding down your nose as you looked at him getting lost in whatever frozen state he was in. 

He bent down and gave you a light peck on the lips. “I’m good. I’m gonna go in the water.” 

You watched him dive into the ocean, you would have accompanied him but you knew he needed some time, some space. While you weren’t privy to club business, you weren’t oblivious to the fact that things had been tense. You also knew that Angel had very little emotional awareness and wasn’t exactly able to open up about things so easily, which you accepted, you wouldn’t have been with him for 5 years if you didn’t, but you knew you had to let him work through his own shit if you didn’t want to push him away. 

EZ had soon joined next to you, placing a cooler to the left of your chair and offering you a beer from it. 

You cheered him and took a long sip. You closed your eyes as the cold liquid traveled down and cooled down your entire body for less than a second. A sigh escaped from your mouth and you opened your eyes as you sunk into the beach chair. 

“Been waitin’ for that moment?” EZ was grinning. 

Before you could answer you heard the yells and shortly after you felt the sand grains being pelted against your skin as Coco and Gilly ran down passed you and right into the water. 

“Moment ruined.” You laughed, placing your beer in the cup holder and EZ got ready to join them. 

“Hey EZ,” you called to him before he took a step farther. 

“Sup?” he turned to you with ease, squinting from the sun beaming into his eyes. 

“Is Angel okay?” You asked, not really knowing what to expect in an answer. 

His head turned to look at his brother who was now bullshitting with the guys, he knew what you were asking, he could have taken the easy route and been like ‘yea, look at him!’ and just ignored what you really meant but he knew you were asking because of genuine concern.

“Things are rocky at the club right now.” He chose his words carefully, “things are rocky for him at the club right now. I think this will be good for him, a break from it all.” 

Looking out at him having a good time with the guys, you nodded at EZ’s words, it was the best explanation you were gonna get and you appreciated him for giving you some sort of reasoning behind it all. With a deep sigh, your eyes moved back to the younger Reyes brother and you thanked him before he made his way to the ocean. 

You let them have their fun for a bit as you soaked up the sun and finished a few beers. At some point you nodded off for a few minutes, not for very long but when you woke up, you realized you were starting to sweat. The boys had seemed to calm down from their normal antics and were just wading in the water now.  

After taking off your flip flops and dredging through the sand, you made it to the water. First, you let the water ease up to your toes, it was warm, another reason you chose this spot every year, it was perfect. 

A breath released from your mouth as the water reached your feet again, one you didn’t even know was stuck somewhere in your gut probably along with the anxiety and stress of whatever Angel was going through, too bad that didn’t find its way out. But you stared at him just floating in the water and decided despite either of yours anxiety, you’d make the most of this trip. 

Swimming out to him, you enjoyed every second of being in the water, the sun beaming down, the teal color of the water allowing you to see down to the bottom with ease. Reaching Angel, your hands moved up his bare chest as he moved from horizontal to vertical in the water. 

“Hey.” You spoke at a whisper, his hands moved up and down your back as yours found their way to rest over his shoulders. He was standing now on the bottom of the ocean floor, which allowed you to wrap your legs around him and let the water hold you both up. 

“You fell asleep.” His hand moved up to touch your face, which was pretty hot from the sun rays beating down on it. 

“I did.” You chuckled and moved to hug him. 

“This is nice.” He let out a breath similar to what you did when you entered the water. You knew there was more he was holding in still but there was some relief knowing that some tension was gone. 

Before either of you could say anything else, Gilly was speaking up from the shoreline. You weren’t exactly sure when any of them got out, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was what Gilly was saying. 

“Yo!!! Bish called, shit went down, we gotta head back!” He was disappointed, he had Coco standing next to him who looked equally pissed off. 

EZ was closer to shore than you and Angel but was still in the water. He looked back at you two before heading back to shore. 

You felt the tension in Angel’s shoulders build back up, nothing a deep breath or hug could fix. Instead of fixing it, you just pressed your forehead to his. “We have this for a week, go do whatever you gotta do for Bish and come back, and if it lasts the full week, when things slow down at the club, I’ll book it again for just us two.” It was your version of making things work. 

Angel’s eyes were closed as he spoke. “I don’t know if things will ever slow down at the club.” 

There wasn’t much you could say to that, but after a few seconds of thought mixed with a little of your own frustration, you cupped Angel’s face in your hands. 

“Then I’ll bring the beach to you, we’ll get a pool and I’ll dye it fuckin’ teal and I’ll bring home a tub of sand.” 

Angel let out a laugh, it was the first time you heard him laugh like that in well, weeks. “Let’s just stick with the pool and leave the sand.” 

“Sand gets everywhere.” You nodded and laughed along with him. 

He agreed with you as he chuckled. “That shit gets everywhere.”

Given how much Disguise takes out of Desuhiko, a non-Disguise disguise was the right call. With face and body fully covered, there was no need to burn energy on the full shapeshifting shenanigans route.

It's like parenting. When you constantly tell Yuma, "DO NOT go snoop around, DO NOT get in trouble with the Peacekeepers, AVOID solving mysteries or doing anything meaningful," and then get mad at him every time he does those things? It's not going to discourage him from doing them. It's going to discourage him from telling you that he's doing them.

If you convey to your child/apprentice that they cannot confide in you about the things they are doing, then they will continue to do those things but they will not confide in you about them. Yuma went behind your back because everything you've said to him up to this point has convinced him that you must be lied to.

Yomi had a plausible explanation for that, but obviously Makoto himself couldn't have dropped the letter at the sub. The timing of which still makes me think he did it specifically to get them to come fetch Yuma.

Makoto and Fink aren't proven to be in cahoots but they're likely to be in cahoots. Cahoots are more plausible than not at this point in time.

Since I'm too lazy to draw a comic strip for it- I wanna expand my idea on Yuma actually being a homunculus in my last post.

Okay, so my idea could go one of two ways.

Number One(Get it?- Cause Yuma is-), The original Number One could've died suddenly and since Makoto, the first perfect homunculus of him ran away to the unknown, the same researchers and scientists decided to create another homunculus version of Number One to replace him, aka Yuma.

Second idea, Original Number One could decide that since Kanai Ward doesn't give a shit about truth and try to cover everything up, that he'll use the Book of Death, thinking that its powers will help them uncover the truth in a place such as Kanai Ward. Problem though, turns out summoning a Death God might require a lot of sacrifice and no one knows what kinds of sacrifices since the book is written in unknown godly language, cool.

So what does Number One decide to do, ask scientists to make another homunculus using his DNA, figuring that having somebody who is immortal suffer the consequences of a Death God, which would most likely be- I don't know- death, might be more safer. Plus, this would mean that while Yuma would be going to Kanai Ward to solve the mysteries, Number One could continue staying out of sight and continue doing more cases in other places, so win-win right? It's not like Yuma would run into the first homunculus and be mistaken as the Original right? And it's not like Yuma would suffer amnesia from forming a deal with Death thus loosing all his knowledge as a detective... Right?

I liked the idea of Number One having no idea that he would have to sacrifice his memories as a part of the pact with Shinigami, not until he was at the train station or something and he just fuck it.

So yeah, those are just simple ideas for this, I might write a fanfic about it, despite never having done so before but who knows?

Yuma: O-Oh, I…guess I was wrong… She would make desserts, serve them, and clean the place… What is Lady referring to when she says this…? Did you…work at a café?

Working at a Café

Yuma: Did you…work at a café? Lady: Sure did! It was amazing! *sigh* The smiles I’d see on everyone’s faces after they ate the treats that I made… That always made me so happy! Yuma: Oh, that’s nice. Lady: And I got to meet so many different kinds of people. It’s amazing how you’d interact with all sorts of people with completely different backgrounds as you, y’know? Yuma: Oh, well…that’s a way to think about it. Lady: And I’d help my grandma clean the place! Two cupcakes are always better than one! Yuma: So, Lady used to work at a café before she became a Master Detective…how sweet. Wait, did you say grandma? Lady: Well, she wasn’t really my grandmother, she was an old lady that found me alone one night and she took me in! And from that point on, I’d help her run the café she owned! Yuma: Took you in? Did you…not have a home before? Lady: Nope! Not until she found me! And at that point, the café became my home! Shinigami: Eek! She was homeless?! Yuma: W-Wait, so when you were a kid, you and your family lived on the streets? Lady: What family? Yuma: H-Huh…? Lady: It was just me! If I had any family members, I certainly couldn’t recall them. Yuma: … Lady: Oh come on now, don’t look so blue! Here, have a slice of the pie. I’ll cut it for ya! Yuma: It’s bewildering to think someone as cheerful as Lady used to be homeless as a child. She seems to have taken that in stride… Lady: And… Ta-da! Here ya go, now you won’t feel so sour anymore! Shinigami: Kyahahaha! Master, you and Lady seem to have gotten closer!

The two meet with Makoto approaching Yuma once he was allowed to roam freely (in this AU, the CEO is still alive at the time and Makoto is known as the CEO’s adopted son), and meets him when Yuma was getting his Forte experimented at the Amaterasu Labs.

You are right that Yuma takes time to learn to trust Makoto since he does look suspicious and is overly-friendly to him. Yuma became more emotionally detached and withdrawn as a trauma response to his mom’s death, and separation from his hometown to moving into the cold, crime-filled city of Kanai Ward. He hasn’t seen any friendly faces for a long time except for Shinigami, and even then she’s considered in the same boat as him (or more specifically similar since she doesn’t have to interact to the real world like Yuma).

The same can be said for Makoto as he has to deal with the fact that he is a Homunculus and is now being groomed to become the next CEO of Amaterasu (which he believes is the only mean to really change Amaterasu itself). Still he is left bitter towards the world and the restriction he is put under by his ‘father.’ He even can’t help being bitter to Yuma because he is the original who has lived the life he remembers, while Makoto is nothing more than a copy. A shell that can be remold by others’ desires, while not allowed to be the person he was before. But he also knows Yuma has no support outside of Shinigami in Kanai Ward, and even he notes Shinigami isn’t exactly the best support Yuma needs. So he reluctantly decides to reach out to Yuma and be the support he needs (because he is still the emphatic, kind person like Yuma).

The two’s relationship definitely starts out rocky because of their own conflicting feelings with one another (Yuma unwilling to trust Makoto, and Makoto’s resentment towards Yuma). But overtime, those tensions begin to fade away and their relationship starts to blossom into a beautiful friendship (and brotherly love). With Makoto, he offers an out from Yuma being experimented and even knows he is the Death Detective but does not look down on him for it, being his support for him to talk to, and offering sanctuary from everyone at Makoto’s apartment (yes he still has his own apartment despite technically being a minor; the CEO isn’t really a good parent here). With Yuma, he offers a comforting presence for Makoto to be himself around. I hc that part of Makoto’s over-the-top, friendly nature is a facade around people. He is still over-the-top and friendly, he just takes it to the extreme around other people. In truth, he is an introvert and can be blunt and snarky (basically not as friendly as he makes himself out to be), even though he is still a sincere person. Yuma doesn’t judge him and encourages him to let his (metaphorical) mask down around him, which he does.

Their relationship will definitely be explored overtime in the AU, as Makoto’s secret and Amaterasu’s darkness will come to light as one of the overarching plotline. And their relationship is challenged as well (Makoto may be more friendly with Yuma, but I’m still gonna make him a morally grey, complex character).

Also, thank you so much for your concerns and support. I’ve been really busy irl with college classes demanding my attention, and trying to put a little more focus on myself outside of social media. Plus some writer’s block and my perfectionism getting in the way as well. I’m just trying to make sure I thought out the ideas of my AUs well (even though I also post some of the ideas would be brainstorming and some parts of the AU may have changed as well). yeah i was just thinking about how the detectives would even go to dr. huesca’s lab in the first place as well as figure out the details behind the death of yakou’s wife in ch4. yakou (probably) isn’t planning to kill dr. huesca in this au, plus in canon we don’t get any details about her until after the mystery labyrinth so uhm

i kinda went back to that conversation with kurumi at the end of ch4, and she talked about how yakou also did his own investigation for his wife’s death (which i’m assuming she somehow found out through a case file or smth). i also thought about how makoto also wanted to draw yuma to the lab as a decoy in order to expose yomi and then i just kinda combined those two things LMAO

what if makoto, other than inviting yuma to the lab, also sent yakou a redacted version of the case file for his wife’s death (whether that’s amaterasu’s version or yakou’s own version)? i’m thinking if kurumi was able to discover those things in-canon then it might make sense for makoto to also gain access at some point (y’know. as the literal CEO of amaterasu), and he might think it’s best to send everyone down there to cause even more of a distraction for yomi (and if this is yakou’s case file, yakou might recognize his own handwriting and see the whole ordeal as an opportunity to regain his lost memories) yakou reads the case file, realizes something’s up, and goes to investigate with the rest of the cast to the secret lab.

(also- when i say redacted i mean removing the personal details / name so that yakou can’t confirm if the case is about his wife, but might get a bad feeling about it based on the information that’s left and what other people tell him before he goes to the place where she was killed)

also in this case it might be cool to use not only vivia’s ability but also halara’s since this is about a case from the past—and yeah imagine if yakou was using postcognition and… saw his wife’s corpse. not only would it be the thing to confirm his suspicions about his wife’s disappearance, but it’d just be downright depressing 🫠

(also thinking about the actual case—i’m thinking yakou’s wife was assassinated by yomi’s personal hit man, but it was covered up with an explosion so it’d be more difficult to discern the gunshot wound on her head. that might be the reason why it was reported as an accident in the lab)

Wonderful insights! Sculpting from your ideas, I've come up with how the tail end of chapter 3 and the beginning of chapter 4 would go. After Makoto guides the detectives back to the riverbank for their restored submarine, Yakou wastes no time sifting through all his documents. He's amazed by how all his files are near-perfectly duplicated, but shakes his head when he realizes this is all just a product of Amaterasu keeping such a close eye on him. When opening one of his desk's drawers, he notices a slip of paper he doesn't remember being there before. Shinigami urges him to read it, but he stops himself from doing so when the rest of the NDA detectives file in to marvel at the submarine.

Eventually, the detectives head back to their hotel rooms while Vivia stays behind to sleep at the agency. Yakou uses the opportunity of his lonesomeness to read the out-of-place page. Shinigami curiously peeks over Yakou's shoulder, skimming through the words with him. The chief's eyes widen. The paper is inscribed in his own handwriting. Much to his dismay, many of the phrases are blacked out in thick ink. He believes this misplaced file is the key to regaining his missing memories and the final push to drop everything else and make plans to infiltrate the secret lab. Unbeknowst to him, this letter was a piece of his investigation for his wife's death that he tossed out during a moment of hopelessness. Makoto recovered it and used it to his advantage to slip it into the restored agency, putting his own plan to eliminate Yomi into action.

A sudden chill creeps down Yakou's spine, spooking him into looking around the room. He sees nothing other than a sleeping Vivia, which quells his fears. Little does Yakou know that the ghost of the tired detective watches over him much like Shinigami. Vivia has an inkling of doubt that everything will go as smoothly as Yakou believes. He tasks himself with keeping Yakou in his sights and aiding him in the investigation to come.

Every detective gets to use their Fortes in order to solve the mystery inside the secret lab! They all sneak in by disguising themselves as peacekeepers with Desuhiko's assistance. Fubuki rewinds time whenever their cover gets blown and they have to retrace their steps. Halara uses Postcognition to look over the original crime scene when it was first discovered, Yakou's wife's corpse n all. Vivia's ghost form allows for snooping in on scientists' gossip and easy access to Director Yomi's file room. He and Yakou uncover personal documents, also finding a recently opened folder with nothing inside. And last but certainly not least, Yuma uses his Coalescence to share Halara and Vivia's Fortes with Yakou. Yakou ends up spending the most of his investigation time with Vivia, as they enter Dr. Huesca's room as ghosts to look over whatever they can of the emails opened up on the computer. They aren't able to read much, but they're now made aware of an anonymous source involved who wants Huesca dead. Yakou frets that he could've been Anonymous before losing the memories surrounding his wife's death. Vivia does his best to sway Yakou away from that assumption, but in his mind, he's unable to confirm or deny.

And yeah, Yomi definitely tipped off Hitman Zilch to cover up his murder as an accident. We all know how much Hitman Zilch enjoys his pyrotechnics. He shot Yakou's wife in the head, and Yomi sneakily entered the room shortly afterwards to view the original crime scene. He assists his hitman in cleaning up the blood. Hitman Zilch dragged the body away to a chemical test chamber and lit the room ablaze. With full control over the murder, not much convincing was needed to assure everyone encountering the fake crime scene that it was the result of an experiment gone haywire. The two higher-ups secured the truth of Yakou's wife's death under lock and key.

02/29/24: I had a most awesome leapday shopping for stuff today! Drove to Yuma Arizona and hit up my usual spots. But before heading that way, i first went to my closet Salvation army store. For $5.00, I found an unopened copy of myst on PC and a kids yokaiwatch. I then drove fifty minutes away to start my main trip. Goodwill was okay. I found some clothes and a hardback marvel #comic. Also some new movies. doompatrol and brucelee dvds! At one pawnshop I found a sealed bluray of Preacher for $4.00 and at another pawnshop, I found xbox games. $16.00 bucks for four of them and since evilwithin was a bit scratched up, I got it for free. I went to the three walmarts in the area. They had quite a bit of clearance videogames, but nothing I haven't seen or bought already. Hopefully it will drop more soon. calistoprotocol was $10 as well as ghosbusters spirits unleashed and sonic origins plus was $20. Most likely its new lower price. And I got a varied selection of gamestop games too. From two stores, those in the pic. With the most expensive being the diofield chronicle for $20. A fun day of exciting finds for me!

Yugioh Main Protagonists Ranked

(No Yuudias because Go Rush isn’t complete at the time of writing this and I’m not even caught up on what is out.)

You get a veteran's pass to this blog if you know who I put at number 1 before I even start this list. Because spoilers it hasn't changed at all. And it probably never will. The rest of this list though? It was tight. The middle three are so interchangeable for me I just had to just go with my gut without overthinking it. This first one however was not difficult:

7 Yusei Fudo

While the dub did make me like him more, I'm still not that big on Yusei. His dub added sassiness is entertaining and I even relate to his habit of pushing people away and wanting to do everything on his own. But as a protagonist, he's really plain. He wins every time (outside of a flashback) so his duelling isn't interesting to watch and he just doesn't have any substantial character growth. He’s a completely static character which might be okay for a side character but not for the main character.

6 Yugi Moto

/Atem I guess? Atem gets more screen time and is the one who's duelling 90% of the time, let's be real. That's a problem and all but honestly the switching between and dynamic of Yugi and Atem is enough to put them above Yusei. They lose a lot more than him, making their duelling more interesting and both of them grow over the course of the series. It's fairly basic but still nice, nothing wrong with simple sweet development. Also Yugi himself made a pretty decent protagonist in DSOD, I like how his grief over Atem is explored.

5 Yuma Tsukumo

…yeah this was a really tight list. I love these top five so much that Yuma just ended up here due to stiff competition. Yuma took what Yugi and Atem did and perfected it with his bond with Astral that's more focused on and more well developed as we see exactly how they met and every step in their journey as they become closer and help each other grow as people. It's sweet as hell. Also yes Yuma could be annoying towards the beginning of the show but most of his "stupidity" was coming out of wanting to help his friends so he came off as more of a “caring dumb” most of the time. Plus first impressions, while important, shouldn't define a character (or a person for that matter) and he becomes a much better character and duellist overtime.

4 Yuga Ohdo

I think Yuga is the most unique take on a YGO protagonist. He's not the greatest duellist, he actually loses quite a lot and that majorly raises the stakes of the duels (a point that also applies to Yuma, though I feel they stopped letting him lose after part one ended but it’s still good). Because it's made clear he can lose at any point and there are consequences for those losses. Not life threatening consequences but still. Consequences that can hurt him, rush duels, and/or his friends and that made the show so unpredictable and interesting to watch for the very first time. But Yuga's not a pushover either. He's still a strong duellist who gets up after each loss and for gosh sake he invented Rush Duels. I like having a protagonist who's special not because of his duelling or friendships for once, I think that's really neat.

3 Yuya Sakaki

Fun fact: Yuya was the main thing that pushed me to watch Arc V before 5Ds and man did he not disappoint. He is an endearing silly bean who just wants to make everyone around him smile with his entertainment duelling and it was so very sweet and wholesome- OH GOD WHY IS HE A DEMON?! Yeah, Yuya's an interesting protagonist. He's the main hero but also simultaneously the main villain, or at least one fourth of a villain and man was that interesting as hell. Yuya himself is also the perfect summation of Arc V's main themes if that makes sense, since the show is all about how stopping to be kind/share a smile can go a long way and Yuya’s whole goal is to spread smiles.

2 Yusaku Fujiki

I’ll admit, these top two are really personal characters for me. (Yusaku was straight up a part of my wake up call to getting a handle on my mental health.) I relate to Yusaku immensely, even though, to my knowledge, I don’t have PTSD. His more serious stern attitude also fits the more dark serious feel of VRAINS and most importantly, he isn’t completely without personality or character development. From almost the very beginning, he has Ai, an upbeat little bean who is completely opposite to him in personality, to play off of and over the course of the show, Yusaku gradually learns to open up to others easily but his flaws of secretiveness and distancing himself from others remain. And that just felt very real to me. I like how he isn’t just all better one day, it’s a process and the bad things that happened to him shaped him when he was young, but that pain doesn’t have to define him and by the end, it doesn’t. He lets go of his desire for revenge and more easily expresses his emotions/attachments and it’s nice goddammit.

1 Judai Yuki

Yeah, I’ll never change. Take everything I said about Yusaku having a realistic/relatable reaction to a traumatic event, add multiple traumatic events and an adorably sweet personality and you have Judai. I love his upbeat personality at the beginning of the series, he’s arrogant and a bit air-headed but in a way I found really charming. Then the show started hurting him… and hurting him more… and while he mostly retained his cheerfulness and seemingly came back swinging in seasons 1 and 2, there was a gradual shift in his personality which took centre stage in season 3. His determination to save Johan becomes his downfall and after seemingly losing the rest of his friends, it completely destroys him. He endures constant traumatic events and pressure from everyone around him and it changes him and breaks him like it would a real person. Makes me so glad that Judai was able to come back from it. During the highly underwatched and underrated season four, he gets space from all the pressure that was put on him and is able to regain his love of duelling and in a way, his childhood. Not so much childhood innocence, but he’s able to have the heart of a child while still being an adult mentally. I just, oh my gosh I love Judai so much.

The final camera. Tension continues to build. Who's going to die? How? Why?

Yup. Here we are. Setting up a secret spycam at the entrance to an all-girls' school for what Shachi assures me are definitely freedom-fighting reasons. Most certainly.

On the plus side, that camera is super visible, especially when you consider the stairs leading up offscreen to my right, giving people an easy vantage from which to see the poorly-concealed cam. Yuma didn't even bother to try and stick it in the bushes.

So there's a strong chance that, within a couple days, someone will stomp on it while screaming "FUCKING PERVERT." An assessment that I'm not entirely sure I disagree with.

None of these places seem to be bustling with police activity, which makes me really suspicious about why you sent me here, bruh.

Sure, I can call and let him know it's done. We'll see if he picks up. He has a pretty high chance of being either the killer, the victim, or the falsely-accused by Amaterasu in this case. For a man of his grand importance, who we've been told has one of two guns in play on his person, and who is the nicest cinnamon roll ever to lead a rebellion? Yeah, there's no way he's going to be a mere witness.

Plus he seems to know a lot about homunculi, which is either good or bad for his chances for survival. If he lives, he can tell us things like Kurumi did. But if he dies, he can take his knowledge with him and leave us fumbling around in the dark some more.

That would explain the bizarre placements, if the Resistance wants to do some shock-and-awe property damage bombings but without hitting any civilians in the process. These are all in locations that are remote enough that they could be detonated without hitting anyone but close enough that people would notice.

Like, if they wanted to kill people, we'd set the bomb inside the cafe. Not at a bus stop outside the cafe.

Y'know what? I support this. They're making a public spectacle and being disruptive without hurting anyone in the process. This is way better than anything they might have done with those cameras.

I assume they probably still have a camera built-in, so Serval can tell when there's no one in the blast radius.

My dude isn't wrong when he suggests that there will be casualties on the road to revolution. In a fascist dictatorship, there are few if any non-violent roads to change, and violent means lead to violent consequences.

But he's saying it with the Wicked Bad Guy tone and language, so he's obviously talking about the Resistance killing civilians rather than rallying soldiers to die for liberation. You know how media is. "Anti-fascists are JUST AS BAD as the fascists! Maybe worse!" Writers sure do love their aggressive centrism.

Which brings us right back around to "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." This is not a democracy. These people have no power over their government, and their government is cruel and corrupt enough to not care about collateral damage. There is nothing to be gained by targeting civilians for reprisal.

Oh boy

Half of my wips are decided on either stray ideas I have to satisfy my needs only

Anything else that pops into place is spur of the moment, so a lot of what I start won’t even see the light of day because it’s a writing itch to get a scene or some dialogue stuck in my head down rather than writing to finish a piece, sometimes it translates to longer projects but yeah, I don’t really decide based on anything except stray pieces of dialogue or scenes

AHHH TOO MANY THINGS, I’ve got a long 3+1 fic project for an upcoming shipweek in August, a MizaKai drabble bc I refuse to have my only work for them be nsfw rn lmao, there’s other pairs or post canon concepts

But also there’s this massive brainchild I have rn that’s very GOT/HOTD inspired, mostly in terms of the politics, warring kings, and the dragons parts

It’s a post canon/canon divergent au that’s kinda hard to explain and it’s told through present time in post canon and in past life memories back to the time of Nasch, so know there’s an entire past life of lore full of warring kings, dragons, politics, plus secret card lore, a way for me to write duels with decks I love, and an OC who I’ve been trying to design for months LOL

Without having to over explain anything specifically crazy like names, terms, etc, here are a few lines of just a little of what to expect-

A difficult question. Because it wasn’t very… special. Kaito has a shallow memory of that day. At most, he remembers that his body felt numb from recovering from the operation that changed his life and he had been greeted by his father with cards to bolster his deck at that time.

Photons, Faker had called them. A fitting umbrella term to use when he finally saw their designs. His father and Heartland designed the archetype as a calling card for the Heartland government officials. Only those who passed Heartland’s inhumane training programs and high standards were given them.

And with Kaito’s own special place, naturally he’d passed. Not only would they be powerful tools for special, chosen duelists, this meant they would be strong enough to handle the Numbers he’d be collecting at the time.

It was at the top of the little card pile that had been his Galaxy-Eyes. Although… The dragon’s card admittedly had been a touch more worn out compared to the soldiers, machines, and spellcasters that followed it. So had the cards with the word ‘Galaxy’ in their name. As though those ones were older relics, maybe references used to finish the Photon archetype.

“… He was a gift from my Father.”

Mizael immediately makes a face.

“Humans. Dragons aren’t mere gifts you’d give to a person. They’re partners, their love and loyalty cannot be pawned off under the guise of a present.”

Kaito mirrors his frown right back.

“You’ve met the man. Not exactly the most respectful person in the world. I don’t know the rest or where he came from. At first I did think he was created solely for me and my deck, but that was until I met Yuma and Astral, then I knew for certain that couldn’t be the case once I met you.”

🔪 Azusa is on medication to help with her depression and STRONG anxiety issues, she also has to get blood drawn almost two times EVERY OTHER month because she is that unstable and ill (She has tried to kill herself with the consumption of nail polish to try and poison herself, her stomach was also pumped)

🔪 When Azusa, as a vampire, was little, she always carried this bunny stuff animal that was basically worn out. Yuma always to her to get rid of it due to horrible condition it was in, but Azusa said she wouldn’t just because of how it looked (There is beauty within everything)

Just finished Oriko Magica and honestly I really liked it! It's good ,but although I wished Oriko and Kirika showed up a bit more in the main series...

My favorite character would have to be Oriko...She kinda relatable too...plus those two are cute and so is Yuma!

I did notice one thing tho when reading extra stories...That is Sasa Yuuki...She reminded me a lot of Hanna and how the two died are similar in many ways too...Plus having the same ability of controlling witches...Granted Hanna's technically ability is to copy other power, but has mind control because she copied it from her friend before she died...but still...How they behaved are similar too...I wonder if the author really liked Sara ability ,but didn't want to use her character so instead created two new characters. One (Sena) with the power and the other to become what she did...

Plague Doctor theories (which I should remade into bingo card)

What didn't bingo:

- Shura is Fake.

The theory didn't come true, but I suspected him, because he was the only one who knew the details of the Game, which Fake demonstrated.

- Lera or Toma will be tested with the drug.

It was just a possible guess, glad it didn't turned out true.

- Lera will come out with some plan by herself.

Lera turned out to have a really good mentor and she was smart to realise that Christina casted illusion on her. Still no plan, so no bingo.

Bingoed:

- Sergey won't mess around with Igor and there won't be any drama between them. The arc is a pure gestalt about their relationship, as well as an answer to the question "why won't Igor take care of the PD case, they're in the same city".

- Lera's costume is being tracked. Oleg and Sergey will rescue Lera.

- Or Toma or Volodya will wake up.

Bingoed partly:

- Lera will team up with Chrysalis and later with Poet to deal with the Machaons.

My bets:

- Dialogue or scene or general vibe: Lera: I have no respect for Sergei Razumovsky. Dagbaev, why the fuck are you clapping? I don't respect you either.

- Zlatomaki in any form, but most likely in the romantic one - there are too many parallels between them.

He's rich, she's, well, from ordinary family? Imagine how many memes are possible between them? Jokes about coffee for commoners entered the chat 🤣*Ouran High School Host Club music theme starts playing in the background *

- But in the end, if there is any romantic plotline between them, it will not go in full force right away: they are enemies, they have different social positions, different views on life, and other enemies-to-lovers slow burn angst of 200k words.

Yuma performs on Lera some kind of "break the cutie" trop to prevent her from getting in the way of the Buryat mafia and messing with her little brother.

Kirya finds out that Lera is a PD and at some point pretends to be a PD to save Lera. I have a feeling that the fact that Kirya is good at kendo, the fact that Sergei has been mulling over his candidacy, and that everyone thinks the PD guy, is laid in plot for a reason. Plus, Kirya fits the overall image of PD and Razumovsky's obvious choice better.

Bonus points if Kirya is captured by Yuma/another villain and mega bonus points if Kirya is killed or heavily injuted ("break the cutie "moment for Lera). Unlikely, though. Then again, Phobs came up with five bullets for Oleg.

- Lera will find herself completely cornered by circumstances, and will turn to Dima for help, who will lead her to White Arrow. Maybe Lera will work for them, but not as a regular employee.

- Her cornerstone will be Dagbaev's case/ relationship mess/ hero or ordinary person dilemma.

- Lera has to fake her own death in order to keep her loved ones safe. Actually, that's why I think they put Dima and Looking Glass in the story:

- Lera will be living in Looking Glass after the staging. Maybe she will be helping those in Looking glass like Farid - people who has no choice and other options left but to go hiding.

- With Sergei, Lera will either have a conflict or they'll split up by the end of the story. Lera will remain a PD.

- Lera will kill someone (forcibly) and it will affect her very much.

- Lera will be courted by Max:

- All kidding aside, her interaction with Max has to be at least something: they didn't bring him in the plot and introduce them so early for nothing.

My bet: they'll cross paths during/after the Machaon arc. Lera will be a questioned as a witness (Beklimisheva's case? Kristina's dacha case if the police gets involved), and she'll find out that Max is investigating a PD.

Bonus points if, in addition to Max, Altan will also set his eyes on Lera, but I've already written about that.

Super mega bonus points and the title of Vanga of a century to me if/when all three awkwardly cross paths, and Vadik turns on Bad Romance in the background. I'm at least entitled to a fic with this scene 😤.

- At some point, Lera and Oleg will beat the shit out of Vadik together as a mentor-pupil team. Because this bitch needs to be put down(c) and there has to be a balance in nature.

- Altan was in Raido and met Ulya. Who knows, a lot of characters have heard her doom-laden coffee predictions.

- Lera is really cursed by Rivers.

- Mir cameo please? 🥺

Machaon arc predictions:

- The Dagbaevs are either funding the Machaon, or they ordered the stealing of the drug from them.

Heavily implied that Altan really funds them.

From what I understand, Christina is casting illusions based on something. Fears, desires.

Christina embodied Lera's fear-and Lera is afraid of Altan and Vadim and what they could do to her. But the rest of it? About Altan starting to fund the Machaon to avoid spending too much money? That's what Yuma was talking about (Altan wasted too many people and money and got reprimanded for it). Oh, and how come there is an idea in Lera's mind abt the Machaon/Dagbaev collaboration? They just scared her, she couldn't have made out such conclusion on her own. My guess is that Christina couldn't get through to Lera's whole mind, so she molded it with what she had. She is involved with Athena and Rubinstein's deals. And Altan was in Machaon's presentation.

I think Christina arrogantly leaked to Lera through illusions about who was sponsoring them.

- The Dagbaevs will show up in the epilogue.

- The Dagbaevs will buy out Sergei's orphanage.

- I think they might show a scene where Vladimir goes to Looking-glass to talk to Poet, to inform him that he's on Rubinstein's trail and they all now in big trouble.

- Chrysalis will join forces with Sergey in attempt to find Rubinstein. After finding this out the Poet will refuse to join them.

- Lera either will get some super ability or already has one (Already implied? Christina couldn't break through her mind? Maybe because of the mask, but Christina managed to cast an illusion on Lera). Not the most desirable option, but a possible one nonetheless. I'm actually all for it if it's well executed. Which leads me to this prediction:

- The trio will manage to deal with guards on their own, but Lera will pass out due to the lack of oxygen, and Toma with Vladimir will see her face, while trying to help her. Still they will keep her identity in secret because they are not that kind of people to use it against her.

- (With Lera's fave reveal) Chrysalis had already guessed that PD was "that girl who helped me bring Maria Beklemisheva to the hospital". Because Lera was really sloppy with the information she gave to Chrysalis (her knowing his number, details of the case and information available to her).

- Chrysalis and Toma would definitely be the kind of friends Lera could open up to. They should be pen pals after everything at least. Also Lera will loosen up with them and let go of her handra and stress over her secret life.

- Toma will either refuse to take the drug with her after what she went through, or she'll be in doubts about it.

- Chrysalis might persuade Toma to find out who was ordering to steal the drug.

- Sergey and Oleg will arrive to pick Lera up and to search the base before the police.

- Christina either will manage to escape or will be captured.

- Sergey will reprimand Lera for not contacting them sooner after she found that this whole deal is big and dangerous, and he'll be mad about broken mask too, but he also will be grateful to her for finding in s day what he was searching for a month now.

- The police will come the last to the site help the kidnapped people. Max snd Banu will be investigating this case because kidnapped people will inform the police that the Plague Doctor helped them.

- The Poet's name is Eugeny.

- And he'll move into Volodya's apartment, and they'll put up that stupid bookcase from Ikea, and the anti-cat on windows for the cat, and that dream apartment will become a reality and...
