Prompt -  After the move from New York to Texas, the gang try to set Y/N up on several dates.
When your dad had first brought up Texas you hadn’t exactly been over the moon with the plan but there wasn’t much you could do to argue against it considering the circumstances surrounding why you were leaving. Besides there was no way TK would have moved out there without you and you would have hated home without him and your dad.
Now though it felt like this place was more like home than New York ever had been, something that you had thought would be impossible a few months ago. You’d had friends in New York of course but they were nothing compared to the friends you’d made in Texas, friends who you saw on a daily basis, friends who felt more like family even after only knowing them for such a short amount of time.
By all accounts not much should have changed for you really, you were working the same 9-1-1 operator job you’d had back in New York, your boss had been great helping with the transfer to the Texas call centre. You were on your way to getting your own apartment which you couldn’t wait for, much as you did enjoy living with your dad and TK.
And yet somehow everything felt different than it had in New York, it felt like you could be yourself here, let yourself enjoy your life properly instead of putting on a show for your friends.
Texas had no bad memories but New York…well New York was full of them. New York reminded you of days spent hesitating to answer your phone in fear of hearing that TK had been found in a ditch somewhere, that he was already dead or that he was too high to move and you had to find him in a drug den. New York was your mom and dad fighting whilst you and TK desperately tried to drown out the shouting.
Texas was better. Texas had a TK who had been clean since being here. It had your dad who seemed happier than you’d seen him in a long time. You hadn’t always been close with your dad, it took a while after the divorce for you and him to sort things out between each other, after countless apologies and talks the two of you were closer than ever.
Then there was TK. You had never not been close with TK, the two of you had been attached to each other's side for as long back as you could remember. Your twin brother, though if you asked TK he’d include the word older in there, he was older than you by a mere ten minutes and damn if he didn’t take the chance to tell anyone you met, always had your back even if it had been rough when he was using and you always tried to look out for him, tried to keep him alive.
You and your mom didn’t particularly get on well, your relationship with her was already strained but when you and your dad started getting along she hadn’t taken it well. You weren’t overly sad to leave her in New York but despite that you would always be grateful to her. She had been the one to do what you never could, she was the one that got TK into rehab and clean.
So when your dad called you one day you hadn’t been scared to answer the phone, TK had been clean for a while now and all the anxiety you had over answering calls was pretty much gone. Of course then he went and undid all that progress by telling you that TK had overdosed and he was in the hospital.
You had been shocked to say the least, devastated at the thought of TK using again. It seemed wrong, you’d seen him yesterday and he had seemed completely fine. It wasn’t until you got to the hospital and after wrapping you in a tight hug your dad told you that Alex had been cheating on TK. Your heart had ached, more so when you saw TK in the hospital bed and his eyes filled with tears as he hugged you.
It wasn’t long after that your dad told you both of the plan to move to Texas, TK was given no choice in the matter, he was leaving New York and he wasn’t going down that path again. Your dad had told you that if you wanted to stay in New York he’d understand, though the gutted look on his face told you he didn’t want that and the look TK had given him told you TK was ready to fight him on it.
You had about as much choice as TK had in the matter though, if your dad and TK were leaving New York then so were you. It’s not like there was much holding you there anyway.
You still remembered the conversation when TK had come over to your apartment, remembered how small he seemed as he curled up on your sofa and apologised that you had to uproot your entire life just because he was a failure. Your heart broke as you took a seat next to him and let him cuddle into you and you had spoken to him well into the early hours of the morning, promising you wanted to be with him and your dad no matter where that was. You knew he hadn’t been fully convinced, you knew it would take more than one conversation to make him believe it, but TK had nodded as you spoke and smiled at you, even if it was only a small one, and it wasn’t long after the two of you had fallen asleep together on the sofa.
From there it had been easier than you had thought to pack your things up and leave New York behind. Sure there was the sadness that came with leaving the place you had grown up in behind but you didn’t feel like you’d regret your decision.
And you hadn’t. Not weeks into being here, not months into being here. It felt easy to make Austin your home, it was easy to find a routine and settle in. It was worth it to see TK smile wider than he had done in New York, to watch him fall in love again with a guy you trusted to take care of him. It was easy to watch your dad make friends and hang out with them whenever their shift ended.
It was refreshing having a set of friends who actually seemed to care about you. You and Grace had made quick friends at the call centre on your first day when you had been introduced to her and placed on the desk opposite her. Conversation flowed easily between the two of you and it wasn’t long before you were meeting up outside of work, going for coffee or grabbing a bite when your shift ended, and being invited over to her house for dinner or drinks.
Life in Austin was good.
“So,” Grace grinned as the two of you walked into the break room after hours of sitting at your desks, you rolled your eyes knowing where the conversation was going. “How’s the crush going?”
That was another thing that was good in Texas. The dating scene in New York hadn’t been for you, sure you’d been on dates and met guys in clubs but actually, properly dating somebody just seemed impossible back there. Not that here was much different, you hadn’t actually gone on a date here yet but there was Ethan. Though you’d protest out loud to it being called a crush you could admit to yourself that it absolutely was one and a big one at that.
You’d met Ethan a few weeks into working at the call centre and after a small talk in the break room you had made your way back to your desk to see Grace already grinning at you. After she had finished teasing you she told you Ethan had lived in Austin all his life and had been working at the call centre for just over two years now. She had told you that from what she knew of him he seemed to be a fairly good guy, no one had said anything bad about him so far.
From there your attraction to the man had grown and while you were pretty sure he liked you too neither of you had made a move, much to not only yours but also TK and Grace’s disappointment.
“There is no crush.” You told her, a smile pulling at your lips at her groan and moved to get Grace’s and your lunch from the refrigerator.
“Y/N, you know I love you but I don’t know how much more of this I can take.” She told you, causing you to laugh as you sat opposite her. “I mean the two of you spend all day sneaking glances at each other, never mind the fact that when you talk he spends more time looking at your lips than anything else.”
“Okay, okay, so there’s an attraction,” you admitted, making her smile widen. “But, I don’t know Grace, I really like him, you know? I mean sure I dated around in New York but there was never anyone who I really liked.”
“Let it happen then, keep talking to him, keep sneaking glances and whatever happens is meant to be.” She told you and you took a deep breath whilst nodding at her.
It had been a long shift and when you walked through the door of your dad’s place, where you would be living for only a few more weeks whilst your apartment was getting ready, you could tell you weren’t going to rest any time soon.
“Hey kiddo,” Owen greeted as he wrapped his arm around you and pulled you into a side hug. “We’re getting ready to head to the bar, you in?”
“Yeah sure, just give me a minute to change.” You told him, watching his smile brighten as he let you go and it wasn’t long before the two of you walked into the bar together, TK already there and as you looked around you could see Carlos at the bar.
“Y/N!” TK grinned as you walked up to him and you couldn’t help but grin back, it was good seeing TK this happy, it looked good on him. “How was work?”
“Shut up!” You groaned whilst pushing him away from you causing him to let out a laugh as he moved back and leaned against you.
“Ok, ok but seriously when are you and Ethan getting together?” He asked and your dad gave you a questioning look. “I mean I see the way your face lights up, no one in New York made you smile like that.”
You couldn’t stop the soft smile pulling at your face as you leaned your head against TK’s shoulder. He was right, you could feel how much lighter you were and whilst it wasn’t all to do with Ethan you were really glad for the move to Texas. All three of you were much happier.
“Same goes for you, TK, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you were half way ready to call it love.” You murmured as Carlos headed towards your group and took great delight in watching TK’s cheeks heat up.
“What are you two talking about?” Carlos asked as he smiled at TK whilst handing drinks out and you saw a few extras, figuring the rest of the 126 would be joining tonight.
“Oh I was just seeing when Y/N was going to go on a date.” TK told him, grinning at you when you shook your head at him even as a smile threatened to pull at your lips.
You had sworn your dad, TK and Grace to secrecy over your little crush. You weren’t sure why, maybe it was because this was the first time you had really been into a guy and wanted to experience it privately before telling them, but all of them had kept their word even if TK found other ways to draw attention to your dating life.
“Have you met anyone here, Y/N?” Carlos asked with a smile, “I know a guy down at the station and I think the two of you could hit it off.”
You glared at TK as you watched his grin grow wider and Owen couldn’t stop a chuckle that he hid behind his glass as he looked between the two of you. Before you could say anything you were stopped by the rest of the 126 joining the table and silently thanked whoever was listening for the change in conversation as the rest of the night was able to continue without a single mention of your love life.
The next few weeks were fairly eventless, something you weren’t used to considering who your family and friends were but you welcomed the quietness. Not much had changed, the call centre took up most of your hours and after a long day you were able to crash in your new apartment which made Texas feel even more like home. Somehow even though you’d moved out of your dad’s house you still found yourself hanging out there after your shifts.
During the week not much happened, there were still the stolen glances across the room from you and Ethan, waiting to see when the other would get up so you could bump into each other in the break room and have lunch together whilst you got to know each other better.
Today you had started out stressed after your phone hadn’t charged meaning your alarm never went off making you nearly an hour late for work and every call from then on seemed to only reach you if it were a matter of life or death. By the time Grace gestured for you to take a break you were more than happy to, not even sparing a glance across the room today but instead just grabbing your coat and leaving the building, needing to be away whilst you steadied yourself.
“Hey,” Somebody called but you didn’t turn around, the streets of Austin were busy so you didn’t think much of it until you felt somebody touch your arm. “Hey, are you alright?”
It was Ethan. You didn’t know what to do with the fact that you felt some of the tension ease just from his touch, from his presence. You hadn’t hesitated to accept his offer of lunch at a coffee shop not too far from the call centre and barely felt the time passing until he checked his phone and his face dropped slightly as he announced the two of you should probably get back to work.
“Wait,” He said as he took your hand in his to pull you out of the way of people walking in the street. “Listen, I really like you, Y/N, and I’ve wanted to ask you out for months but you were new here and I thought it was best to let you settle in before I asked you. I’d really like to take you out if you’d let me.”
You hadn’t been able to stop the smile that spread across your face, your bad morning and the constant flood of calls momentarily forgotten about as you nodded your head and made plans for dinner the coming Friday before making your way back to the call centre, all the while his hand never left yours.
That night you ended up in the bar with the 126 and Grace, Grace who hadn’t stopped shooting you looks all day and seemed unable to stop grinning at you whenever she so much as glanced in your direction.
“Oh hey, Y/N,” Carlos said after everyone already had a few drinks in them, “you never did say if you wanted me to set you up with my friend down at the station.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Judd interrupted, causing you to smile as he raised his hands to look at you, “you’re goin’ on a date?”
You watched as Grace and TK, who had seemingly realised through Grace’s looks that there had been a development, grinned over at you causing you to roll your eyes.
“No, I’m not going on a date with Carlos’ friend.” You told them and Grace nudged your knee causing you to roll your eyes.
“I know a guy up in one of the other houses, real nice guy, why don’t you let me set you up with him?” Judd asked and you shook your head, smile still in place, but before you could say anything Marjan jumped in.
“Wait, my friend knows this guy and he’d be perfect for you, Y/N!” She told you and you couldn’t help but laugh as you finished the last of your drink and stood up to head to the bar, turning towards the group before you left.
“Thank you all but I can find my own dates.” The group's laughter followed you as you made your way to the bar and ordered another drink, smile widening as you felt somebody move next to you before nudging his shoulder with yours.
“You seem happy today.” TK prompted and you shook your head as you leaned into his side, pausing to let him order his drink before you spoke.
“He asked me out.” You told him and looked over at him to see him beaming at you and you couldn’t stop yourself mirroring the expression back. “It might not go anywhere but…I’m excited.”
“I’m really happy for you, Y/N.” TK told you softly squeezing your hand in his and you let out a soft chuckle as you nodded.
“I’m happy for you too, TK.” You murmured, shifting to look at the group but with the exception of your dad and Carlos no one else glanced in your direction. “I know the reason we moved down here wasn’t great but-”
“I’m still sorry about that.” TK interrupted, shifting his gaze from you to the glass he had been handed. “Looking back I know I should have spoken to you or dad but in the moment, everything just seemed so…but I never thanked you.”
“TK I’ve told you a hundred times you don’t have to apologise.” You sighed and watched as he lifted his gaze to you, eyes wide and watery. “And what didn’t you thank me for?”
“For moving here with us.” He said as he tried to blink away the tears and paused to take a sip of his water. “I mean dad’s been amazing with all this, you know, but I couldn’t have done it without you here. I know you uprooted your whole life and I never thanked you for that.”
“TK, you don’t have to thank me either. There was never any doubt that I’d come to Texas with you and dad, I liked New York, hell I thought I loved it there but moving here was the best decision of my life. I know we didn’t move down here under the greatest conditions but you’re good now and I can’t picture being anywhere else.” You told him sincerely, glancing back at the table and smiling softly at the family you had made gathered together.
“I really love you Y/N, I’m glad you’re happy here.” TK said as he pulled you into a hug and you heard him sniff quietly but didn’t say anything as you wrapped your arms around him.
“I love you too, TK.” You murmured into his shoulders and the two of you took a second more before pulling away and heading back to the group.
Months passed since that night at the bar and it was now coming up to being a year since you had moved to Texas. It felt like a whole different lifetime since you were in New York, not realising how unhappy you were as you went about your life until you came to Austin.
Now everything had changed, you and Ethan had been dating for three months and you had yet to tell the rest of your friends. You had told your dad when it was just the two of you at his house, TK out with Carlos for the night, as you both curled on the sofa and played movie after movie. During one of the breaks where you had headed into the kitchen for a food break you had told your dad that Ethan had officially asked you out and that you had said yes. Owen had just beamed at you and pulled you close, murmuring how proud he was of you and how glad he was that you were happy.
You hadn’t needed to tell Grace, that woman knew from the second you sat at your desk the day after Ethan had asked you to be his girlfriend that something had happened. You hadn't even been able to keep a straight face through her teasing, grinning back at her as the two of you leaned across your desks and spoke about the date in hushed voices, missing the fond looks directed at you from across the room.
TK seemed to have whatever superpower Grace had because when he had come to your apartment with takeout and had given you a questioning look before his face broke out into a grin you couldn’t do anything but groan as he came to the conclusion you and Ethan were official. The two of you spent the night talking about your lives since moving to Texas and gushing over your boyfriends.
It was a few nights later you found yourself in the bar, everyone from the 126, as well as Carlos and Grace sat around a table and as always seemed to be the case after a few rounds the conversation shifted to your romantic life.
“I’m just sayin’, she’s been here what nearly a year? I know a guy who I think is good enough to date her.” Judd said and you couldn’t help but laugh as Carlos shook his head and gestured to you.
“I know Y/N and her and Logan would be great together.” Carlos insisted, causing Owen to chuckle as you buried your head against TK’s shoulder, feeling his laugh as he watched the conversation.
“What’s wrong with my guy?” Judd asked but before Carlos could respond another voice cut them off.
“Hey, sorry to interrupt.” He said and your head snapped up from TK’s shoulder to grin at Ethan as you stood up and made your way round to his side, wrapping your arm around his waist, leaning into him as he wrapped his around your shoulder.
“Neither of your guys are good.” You told Carlos and Judd, watching as they frowned whilst looking between you and Ethan. “Everyone, this is Ethan, my boyfriend.”
The look on Carlos and Judd’s face was priceless to say the least, both of them doing a good job looking betrayed as you introduced everyone to Ethan and took your seat next to each other.
“You’ve had a boyfriend this whole time?” Judd asked before he looked at Grace who smiled sweetly at him. “And you’ve known, y’all let me sit here trying to set her up how many times and didn’t think to mention anything?”
“You knew too, right?” You heard Carlos asked TK and laughed when TK just sipped his drink. “She did tell us she could get her own dates.” Carlos shrugged towards Judd who let out a put upon sigh.
“Yeah I suppose she did.” Judd murmured, watching as Ethan excused himself to go and get a drink before he turned his attention to you. “You happy, kid?”
“Very.” You told him without hesitating and if that didn’t tell him everything he needed to know then the smile that was on your face did, he could see you were serious with Ethan, could tell that you were a good pair.
“That boy better look after you, you know?” Judd warned, causing TK and you to laugh whilst Grace nudged his chest.
“He will but if he doesn't, well then I’m sure there will be a line for you to join.” You grinned as you looked over to your dad who just nodded, sat back in his seat looking at ease, not worried in the slightest. He’d met the boyfriend, as had TK, and both of them saw the way you look at each other.
“Damn right.” Judd agreed just as Ethan sat back down and the topic switched to getting to know the man and your friends asking how you got together.
As Ethan spoke you leaned back in your seat and smiled, maybe Texas had never been part of the plan, you had never once imagined yourself settling down here, making a life here, but now you couldn’t picture being any place else. TK was happier than ever, you were happier than ever and so was your dad. There really wasn’t much more you could ask for.

Pain
ship: Tarlos | fandom: 911 Lone Star | author: chaotictarlos
Tumblr media
Rating: General | Warnings / Tags: Angst, Mention of Carlos Whump, Missing Carlos, Grief, Brief mention of overdose, Brief mention of Gwyn's death, Hurt, Hurt/No Comfort
Author's Note: I was originally going to write breakup era TK but then I started writing and this is what came of it. Hope you enjoy it.
For @tarlosweeklyprompts word of the day prompt "pain"
------------------------
TK's back hits the wall with a thud and he lets out a disgruntled scream of anguish, fat tears rolling down his cheeks, arms wrapped out his body as he desperately tries to hold himself together.
TK is certain he has never felt pain like this before.
Not when his parents got a divorce.
Not during or after any of his overdoses.
Not when he and Carlos broke up and they spent months apart wanting each other
Not when his mom died - but it's close.
No, he's never felt this deep of a gut wrenching pain before. His entire body aches with it. His heart feels like it's been chipped into tiny pieces and sewed back together haphazardly and shoved into the black hole of his chest.
He can't do this. He can't live without Carlos.
He isn't sure how he's supposed to do anything without the love of his life.
TK slides down the wall, his grief loud and thick around him, swallowing up all of the light in the room and suffocating him. His friends hadn't wanted to let him go back to the loft alone but he couldn't stand how they watched him like he was going to break or "it's going to be okay" anymore.
Each one was like a dagger to his heart.
It isn't okay. It hasn't been okay for seven days.
TK isn't sure it's ever going to be okay again.
His sobs rip through his body and he tightens his arms, as if that was enough to keep him from feeling like his entire life isn't falling apart.
"Carlos," he whimpers out into the emptiness, wishing by some miracle that he'll answer.
But there's nothing except the empty space and TK's sobs.

“Remember I need your guy’s permission slips for our field trip to Laboratory and Field Investigations. I also need another parent to go because this is a huge lab and we will be splitting up.” Mr. Vencie said, he was your science teacher and you absolutely loved him because he always made class fun. You, Y/N Strand, are just a junior in high school. You didn’t like school but science had quickly become your favorite subject thanks to Mr. Venice. There was instant chatter has the bell rang signaling the end of the school day. Normally you would head home but you were given specific instructions to head the fire station that your father and grandfather, TK Strand and Owen Strand, worked at.
“So, what are your plans after you leave?” Your best friend, Harper Wells, asked as you both walked out of the school.
“I was planning on going home but I was told I needed to head to the station, something about people coming to work on the house. Dad, Carlos, and Gramps don’t want me there alone and they’re both working.” You said, Carlos is your father’s boyfriend and you love him dearly and he loves you just as equally. You called Owen, Gramps just to get on his nerves because he didn’t look that old but he acted like it sometimes.
“Your dad is hot.” She said not afraid to let you know that pretty much all the time.
“And gay.” You said with a roll of your eyes.
“Hey, it doesn’t hurt to look.” She said and you laughed as you reached your Jeep that you begged your dad for. “You think he will be chaperoning the trip?” She asked and you shook your head.
“No, he has to work. I think Carlos may go though.” You said already preparing for what was about to be said.
“Hey, he’s hot too.” She said and there it was.
“Yea ok Harper.” You said and she just smiled because she knew that it got on your nerves sometimes. “Listen, I got to go. I’ll text you later.” You said and then hugged her and she hugged you back.
“Be careful and let me know when you get to the station safely.” She said as she released you from the hug.
“You know I will.” You said and then you both were saying bye to each other and getting your cars and driving home. You got into your car and sat there for a minute while you pulled out your phone and opened your text messages and opened the group chat that you had going with your father, Carlos, and grandpa.
School just let out. Heading to the station.
You waited for a response and immediately got them back.
Dad: Be safe. We will see you when you get here. Love you!
Gramps: Don’t get pulled over… but I’m sure Carlos would get you out. Love you.
Carlos: I would absolutely do that. I love her too much. Let me know when you get there safely. Love you.
Love you guys too. I will be safe. Gramps I’m going to break every single road law.
Gramps: Y/N Y/M/N Strand
You just laughed and began your drive after starting your car up. It was only a 30-minute drive to the station. You arrived in no time and parked where your Jeep next to your grandpa’s truck and killed the engine and made your way inside with your backpack on your shoulder and keys in one hand. Everyone knew who you were even the ones that normally didn’t work with your dad’s crew so nobody asked why you were there. As you were walking you noticed that the ambulance wasn’t there and it didn’t surprise you. You walked further and saw Judd. “Hey, Judd!” You said and he turned around and smiled.
“Little Strand! How are you?” He asked coming over and hugging you and you hugged him back.
“It was good! I have a field trip coming up to a science lab.” You said and he smiled and released you from the hug.
“That sounds fun. Your dad, Tommy, and Nancy got called out but should be back shortly. It didn’t sound like anything serious.” He said and you nodded.
“How is Grace?” You asked and he smiled. Grace was like a mother figure to you; she helped you with girl problems and when you had boy problems but your dad was surprisingly good with that. Your mom hasn’t been in the picture since you born. She and your dad had hooked up while they were both on drugs and she had stopped them when she was pregnant with you, she did have a soft spot for kids and babies, but when you were born, she gave up parenting rights to TK who was off of drugs and getting help. You had stayed with your grandma at the time while he got help but once he was clean, he was 100% about taking care of you and you quickly became a daddy’s girl. Now at 17 years old your bond with your father was strong and you could care less about his sexuality just as long as he was happy so were you. When he got dumped by his boyfriend before coming to Texas, he was heartbroken but he stayed strong for you and continued to be a great father to you.
“She’s good! She’s wondering when your next girl date is, she’s missing you.” He said and you smiled.
“I’ll have to shoot her a text later.” You replied and he smiled.
“She would love that.” Judd said “Your grandpa is in his office.” He said and you nodded and started that way. As you were walking you saw everyone else in the kitchen. “Hey!” You said with a smile and everyone turned to look at you.
“Little Strand!” A course of voices shouted out and they came over to hug you.
“How was school?” Marjan asked
“It was good. We have a field trip coming up that I need to talk to dad about chaperoning or maybe getting Carlos to do so.” You said and they smiled.
“Where is it?” Mateo asked and you turned to look at him.
“Laboratory and Field Investigations.” You said
“Oh, that sounds fun.” Paul said and you nodded.
“Science is a favorite of mine especially since the teacher I have makes it fun.” You said “Sorry to cut this short but I need to talk to Gramps.” You said and they all snickered, they encouraged it. You headed to his office and when you got there, he wasn't doing anything so you knocked and he looked up and waved you on in. “Hi, Gramps.” You said with a smirk and he groaned playfully but got up and walked over to you and hugged you.
“Hi, Sweetheart.” He said and then released you from the hug. “Your dad will be back soon.” He said and you nodded.
“Yea, Judd told me.” You said and then went and sat down on the couch and pulled out your phone shooting off a text to Carlos letting him know that you had arrived along with one to Harper. “Hey, Gramps?” You asked looking up at your phone seeing that he had gone back to his desk and he looked up.
“What's up?” He asked
“I have a field trip coming up soon and need a chaperone. Do you think Dad will be able to get off?” You asked, sounding hopeful but knew the answer.
“Depends on the day. When is it?” He asked
“Friday.” You said and he nodded thinking.
“I think we'll be working. Maybe Carlos can go with you.” He said and you nodded.
“That was going to be my next person I ask.” You said just then your dad walked in and that made you smile and get up and hug him. “Hi, Daddy.” You said excitedly which made him chuckle.
“Hi, Baby Girl. Good day at school?” He asked and you nodded and stepped back.
“Yes. Speaking of school.” You started
“Uh oh. What did you do?” He asked smirking teasingly and you pushed him slightly “Kidding.” He said and then you both went and sat down on the couch and Owen came over.
“Oh hush. I have a field trip coming up and we need an extra chaperone. Gramps said that you all would be working.” You said and he nodded.
“He's right but Carlos would love to go with you. He loves hanging out with you and doing stuff with you.” TK said and you smiled and nodded, you really loved Carlos too. “You can ask him tonight.” He said
“Ok!” You said and didn't have a moment to say anything else because the bell rang signaling for all trucks and ambulances to go and you hugged them both and got cozy on the couch. While they were gone you did your homework and played on your phone. There was no telling how long they would be gone for.
It was Monday night which meant that your day was getting off today and that meant he had 3 days off but would have to go back to work on Friday. When he got off of shift, he got into his car and you drove behind him going home. When you got home you saw Carlos’ Camero was in the driveway and you both parked in your undesignated spots. You both walked in to the cooking filing the house and your mouth watered, that was one thing about your dad and Carlos they could cook and it was the most delicious food ever but its another story for when your grandpa cooked. Carlos looked up and greeted the both of you with a smile. “Hey guys.” He said as he stirred something on the stove you walked over and he pulled you in a side hug.
“Hey.” You said
“Hey babe.” TK said and walked over to kiss Carlos.
“We’re having enchiladas tonight. I hope you’re both hungry.” He said and both you and your dad nodded.
“I’m ready for some good food. Let’s just say it had been rough with food for the last couple of days at the station.” He said and you and Carlos chuckled and TK grimaced.
“Grandpa cook?” You asked and he nodded.
“You two go wash up and change. Supper will be ready in 30 minutes.” Carlos said and that is what you both did. 30 minutes later all 3 of you were sitting down for supper and talking began. Typically, they kept work talk at work and didn’t bring it home but sometimes there was a slip up but you enjoyed hearing about their days.
“Carlos.” You began and he looked up at you as if saying ‘go on’ “I have a field trip to a science lab coming up on Friday and we need another chaperone. Dad is working and so is Grandpa. I was wondering if you would be able to go.” You asked shyly. You didn’t like asking much but you had too.
“Of course, I would love to go with you. It sounds like fun and I get to be with you.” He said and the biggest smile appeared on your face and one appeared on both his and TK’s face. “Where is it?” He asked.
“Laboratory and Field Investigations.” You said getting excited.
“Oh exciting.” He said and TK said at the same time and you smiled and continued to eat. The rest of dinner was in great spirits and everyone was happy.
Over the next couple of days, you were preparing to go on the field trip. You had turned in your permission slip that your dad had signed and told Mr. Vencie that Carlos would be the chaperone for the trip, he was beyond excited to hear that since he was a cop and could handle out of control situations.
Friday rolled around and you were riding with Carlos to school. When you got there both of you walked in and went to the meeting place to check in. Once everything was good to go Harper found you and you both began to talk. Everyone got on the bus and you sat close to Carlos not wanting to be away from him, the bus ride didn’t take to long it was only a 20-minute drive to the lab and you were getting excited. Carlos talked with the other chaperones about anything could and you could tell they were drooling over him you just smirked and nudged him and he would playfully roll his eyes at you “You’re too much liked your father.” He would say and that just made you laugh.
Everyone gathered out front of the building and Mr. Venice gave orders and told everyone to get into groups with a chaperone. You were quick to side with Carlos and Harper was too. Once everyone was grouped the tour began, something was making you uneasy and you didn’t like this feeling but you were enjoying the lab so you didn’t say anything. The further the tour went on the more had the feeling but still didn’t say anything.
The tour was almost done when there was an explosion very close to your group and was so powerful that it pushed you back into Carlos and you both went down. You had hit your head on a metal pole and that had your ears ringing and blacked out for a moment. When your senses came back to you the building was filled with smoke and some fires had broken out. “Are you alright?” Carlos was asking you but your ears were ringing and that made him concerned he has been kneeling over you having gotten up but you could see some soot and some cuts on his face but nothing too major. “Y/N.” He said and it was slowly becoming clearer and you turned to him “Are you ok?” He asked again and you nodded having heard him this time around.
“I think so.” You said as he helped you sit up.
“It looks like you have a cut on your forehead and doesn’t need stitches. Anything else hurt?” He asked and when you went to get up your ankle screamed out in pain and you hissed.
“My ankle.” You said and he nodded and looked down and when he touched it you were ready to kick him but didn’t.
“Can you walk and try to help everyone and get them out?” He asked and you nodded as he helped you up. You pushed the pain down and limped checking on people and telling them where to go. You also had gotten your phone and called 911.
“911 what’s your emergency?” Grace’s voice came through.
“Grace it’s Y/N Strand. There was an explosion at Laboratory and Field Investigations. I’m on a field trip.” You said
“Are you ok? Are you hurt?” She asked
“Yes, I am but I’m ok. Carlos is here with me.” You said
“Is anybody else hurt?” She asked
“Yes.” You said
“Ok, I’m dispatching the 126. Y/N?” She asked
“Hmm?” You asked surveying the area.
“Be careful.” She said
“I will.” You said and then hung up the phone.
As you were making your rounds you would look up at Carlos every now and then but when you went back to checking on people you saw Harper lying unconscious on the ground. You limped over to her and kneeled down.
“Harper?” You asked and shook her slightly and that roused her and she was slowly opening her eyes. “Are you ok? There has been an explosion.” You said and helped her sit up.
“I think so.” She said and you helped her up and started to walk outside. Carlos was right behind you and when you got out most of the building had been evacuated and people were being tended to. You could really see the smoke and the fire from the outside. Carlos turned to you.
“Stay here.” He said and you nodded and waited outside after 10 minutes he hadn’t come out and you needed to go back in you needed to help people, it was in your blood. You started to walk that way when Harper stopped you.
“What are you doing?” She asked
“I can’t just sit around and do nothing. That’s not who I am.” You told her and then hurriedly walked towards the building just as soon as the 126 pulled up meaning that your dad was pulling up. You walked into the building and was met with smoke and that made you cough. You got to one part and ran into someone and it turned out to be Carlos and he turned to you.
"You're not supposed to be here. You were supposed to get out." Carlos said to Y/N, she was just like her dad and grandpa always running into danger and not away. You shook your head.
“I need to help.” You said and he sighed.
“You’re just like your father and grandpa.” He said and shook his head and then began telling you what to do. You got more people out but you heard someone hollering and instead of sticking with Carlos you went to that voice. “Y/N!” He yelled but you were already gone into the black smoke.
“Can you hear me?!” You yelled out.
“I’m here!” The voice said you followed it and it led you to a door you tried to touch the handle but was burnt in the process.
“Hold on! Back away from the door!” You said and prayed they listened and you raised you foot and used all the strength you had and kicked the door and it actually worked.
“Thank you! We were trapped!” They yelled out over the alarms and fire.
“You’re welcome! Is anyone injured?” You asked and they nodded.
“My partner. She was blown back into the wall and hit her head. She’s bleeding pretty badly.” They said and you nodded and looked around.
“Take your jacket off and press it to her head. The pressure will help. Let’s get you out of here.” You said and they nodded and did as they were told and the three of you slowly made the trek out of the building you were close to the entrance but you heard something “Get her to an EMT more specifically Tommy Vega, Nancy Gillian, or TK Strand.” You said and they nodded and you headed back in. You followed the sound to another room and saw that someone was trapped and you tried to get to them but it was hard and your ankle hurt and so was your head. When you got them, you kneeled down. “Sir? Can you hear me?” You asked and he nodded.
“Yes, I can. My leg is trapped.” He said and looked over and it was.
“I’m gonna try and lift it.” You said and he nodded and when you began to lift it, he yelled out in pain but it was working. Once it was up, he scooted himself away and out.
“Thank you so much.” He said and you smiled.
“Let’s get you out of here.” You said and he nodded and you helped him stand up it was getting hard to breathe.
“How are you so calm and know what to do for a 17-year-old?” He asked and you smiled but coughed and so did he.
“My dad and grandpa taught me. He is a paramedic and my grandpa is a firefighter.” You said and you could see the exit but something was creaking both you and the man you were helping stopped and looked up the ceiling was about to collapse. “We need to go!” You shouted and he agreed. You both barley made it out before it collapsed though your shoulder was hit in the process. When you were out and saw daylight you both sighed in relief. You were safe enough away from the building when you saw three very familiar figures hurrying over to you as another paramedic from another station took the man off and away from you.
“You were supposed to leave.” TK said and you looked down.
“I know but people needed help.” You said and he sighed and brought you into a hug.
“You did well. When two people said that a 17-year-old girl helped them and told them to ask for us we knew it was you.” Your dad said and kissed your head and then released you and looked at you. “Let’s get you checked out.” He said and you nodded and he threw and arm around you and helped you limp your way to the others.
“You scared us.” Owen said finally speaking up after you had come out and helping TK lower you down onto the back of the ambulance. Your dad started to clean up the cut on your head.
“I’m sorry.” You said
“You’re safe and you helped a lot of people. We can’t be mad at you.” You dad said and everyone nodded.
“TK is right. You were so brave.” Carlos said and you looked up and smiled.
“Alright, I want you to go to the hospital and get your head and ankle checked out.” TK said
“But dad-“ You began but one look that only a parent could have when their child was doing something bad you shut your mouth.
“This is not up for discussion. As your father I want you to get checked out.” Your dad said and you nodded and then he leaned over and kissed your forehead just as soon as Nancy and Tommy walked over they greeted you and your dad explained everything and they nodded as if you were being loaded onto a gurney.
“Carlos go with her. I’m gonna finish and help here.” Owen said and he nodded and got into the back of the ambulance with you and Tommy and Nancy got up in the front. “I love you, Y/N.” He said and you smiled.
“Love you too Gramps.” You said with a smirk and he groaned but smiled and closed the doors and hit the back of it and you were on your way. As you made your way to the hospital your dad and Carlos fussed over you and you wouldn’t have it any other way. You just smiled, happy everyone is ok and you were going to be ok and you had your dad and your soon to be step-dad with you, you knew it was coming it was just a matter of time. “Dad, Carlos?” You asked and they looked at you.
“Are you ok? Is anything wrong?” Carlos asked and chuckled and nodded your head.
“I’m ok and nothing is wrong. I just wanted to say I love you both so much.” You said and they smiled.
“We love you too.” They both said at the same time. You smiled. You were going to be ok.

Do you think I should write one?
Only if you want to.
A mini comic inspired by Living at the centre of a wound still fresh by @welcometololaland. As someone who lost their father way too soon this fic broke me and put me back together in the best way. Hope you enjoy!
(ps I will be opening commissions very soon!)

8 or 9 (or both 👀) for lone star? 😊
thank you!! I don't even know where this went lol, but hope you enjoy! 8. sweater weather 9. shoulder kisses
TK wraps his arms around himself with a shiver, fingers digging into the soft sweater fabric. He pulls his knees up to his chin as he curls against the armrest of the couch. The loft is dark and silent.
TK's only been here a week, but already, he instinctively thinks of it as home. Then again, anywhere with Carlos feels like home.
TK just regrets that it took him this long to come back. Blowing up everything good in his life--that's one of his specialties. Yes, they both made mistakes, and for a long, terrifying moment, TK thought Carlos wouldn't be part of his life anymore. Because TK pushed Carlos away.
But they've talked, since then. Extensively. They were painful conversations, yes, but overwhelmingly good. And fuck, TK missed him. He missed touching Carlos, holding his hand at the market and cuddling with him in bed and stealing kisses whenever could. Now, he can do all of that again, and a tension he didn't realize he was holding has since released, like he can breathe easier.
Things are still new, though. Not new like when they first began their relationship. They already know each other in and out, understand each other on a subliminal level. But like after any break, there's a bit of a learning curve. It wasn't as simple as falling right back into where they were before because that version of them and their relationship doesn't exist anymore. Their relationship is stronger, more evolved.
Still, that leaves nights like tonight. After hours of sleeplessness and invasive thoughts, TK wandered out of the room after a kiss to Carlos's head. Carlos probably would've told TK to wake him. Before, TK might have. But he needed more time to process by himself.
Now, almost an hour since he left the warmth of their bed, footsteps pad across the floor. He expected Carlos to realize his absence, eventually, and as stupid as it sounds, even in the short absence, TK missed him. It doesn't take much these days.
"Hey, baby, you okay?" Carlos asks, voice thick with sleep. He looks so warm and soft, curly hair standing up and skewed to one side.
"Yeah. Just couldn't sleep." He shivers, hold tightening around himself.
The cold hasn't fully left since his fall through the ice. He's been living in warm clothes and under blankets for the last week. It's been getting better. Most of the time, the chill is brief and barely noticeable, but sometimes, like tonight, it won't let him rest.
Carlos notices immediately. He goes over to TK, pausing at the edge of the couch. "Can I...?"
TK nods. Carlos sits on the couch beside him, and TK unfurls from his ball. They readjust, TK reclining in the 'V' of Carlos's legs, and Carlos's strong arms wrapped around his middle.
TK nuzzles his neck, nestling into him like a burrowing owl. Carlos winces.
"Your nose is freezing."
TK smiles and presses it against him more in response. Carlos always radiates heat like a furnace, even now as he sits bare-chested.
“Is that my sweater?” Carlos asks.
“Mmhm," TK confirms, as if it's not obvious by the way the sweater engulfs him, sleeves hanging well over his fingers. "I must've grabbed it on accident."
“On accident, huh? Just like my sweatpants and Austin PD shirt."
"Yup. Completely accidental."
Carlos laughs, breath ghosting across the bare skin of TK's shoulder where the sweater slipped down. TK shivers again, and Carlos leans down to kiss his shoulder. The first is just a peck, but the second lingers.
"You look cute, in my clothes," Carlos whispers. "I don't mind you wearing them."
TK tips his head up, blinking. "In that case, now might be a good time to tell you I stole your favorite sweatshirt a few days ago."
"You told me you didn't know where it went!"
TK giggles. "Sorry! It's just so comfy." His words are stopped by a large yawn. He has no clue what time it is other than late. He should be in bed, they both should be, especially Carlos since he has work tomorrow.
As if hearing his thoughts, Carlos suggests, "How about we go back to bed?"
"Okay."
One final kiss against his shoulder.
TK doesn't feel so cold, now.

hello! just saw "FIC REQUESTS OPEN" and I thought I will try :D if you are not interested  - please just ignore this ask :)  So, I saw the gif set when Carlos says he will grab the food and TK says he isnt hungry. So since TK went straight to the firehouse it means he didint eat anything, probably since the previous day. So what about little angsty moment, what if TK faints after he assures Carlos he's fine? Adrenaline crash, fatigue, dehydration etc extra points if they find any bruises on TK's torso ( my headcanon is that he hit himself during the turbulence, he just can't feel the pain because of the adrenaline :D ). But as I've written before, if you don't have the time, if you don't feel like it, if you don't like the idea, just ignore it :D Have a great day, hope you're well!
hello! you're probably not still here but here's your fic! sorry it took me so long lol ao3 | 921 words | not everything after the plane crash is as okay as it seems also for @anyfandomdarkbingo - dehydration
“I’m okay, babe, I promise. I wasn’t hurt.”
Carlos runs his gaze over TK again, his heart jumping once more at the bloodstains covering his t-shirt. It’s one thing being told it’s not TK’s, and a whole other thing convincing himself that it’s true. TK isn’t the type of person to come out of a plane crash unscathed.
He bites back the are you sure? threatening to break free and pulls TK into another fierce hug, clutching the back of his jacket in his fists. There are more I’m okays whispered into his shoulder, but they only make Carlos hold on tighter, needing the (living, breathing) proof that this is real.
But the acrid stench of smoke and engine fuel lingers in the air and TK’s hands are warm on his face as he pulls away, and Carlos’s breath shudders as relieved sobs build in his throat.
“What…” he starts, but pauses, his gaze flitting back to the ambulance and the plane beyond it. It doesn’t look too bad from this angle, the exploded engine and blown out window hidden on the other side, but Carlos can’t forget watching as it had tilted dangerously in the air, black smoke forming an ominous cloud.
If TK had been anywhere near that window…
“How close were you?” he asks instead. “The window… How close?”
TK breaks eye contact for a moment, wincing, and Carlos almost knows the answer before he speaks. “It was our aisle,” he admits. “The woman in the ambulance…she was in the window seat next to me and Dad.”
Carlos looks again at the blood on TK’s shirt, too much to mean anything good, and he’d seen the state of the woman before she’d been loaded into the ambulance. It so easily could have been him lying there, and then who would have done the saving? TK could have died, and it was Carlos who had bought that ticket, Carlos who had put him on that plane.
“Hey, baby. Carlos, hey.”
TK’s voice breaks him out of his spiral and Carlos looks at him through suddenly blurry eyes. Thumbs swipe across his cheeks and TK smiles, even though Carlos can’t comprehend how that’s even possible for him right now.
“I’m here, baby,” TK continues. “We’re all here. Nobody died. Can we go get some food now?”
A startled laugh breaks free and Carlos nods, then kisses TK once more. He’s glad TK’s hungry; his last full meal had been the post-softball lunch Carlos had dragged him too, and unless they’d grabbed something before it all went to shit, he hadn’t eaten since, except the snacks as they set up for the party last night. Carlos’s mother would have his head if she found out.
“Yeah, of course,” he says, wiping his eyes dry. “Let’s go.”
They begin to head over to where Owen is waiting for them and Carlos’s heart is starting to calm, anxiety loosening its hold on him as he realises – yes, this is real. TK is okay, and they’re going to go home and Carlos isn’t going to let him out of his sight for at least the next week.
And then, TK stumbles.
He apologises and tries to laugh it off, but when Carlos looks at his boyfriend, TK has gone alarmingly pale and there’s a clamminess to his hands that corresponds to the sheen of sweat across his forehead.
“Babe?” he asks. TK turns to him but stumbles again, and Carlos has to grab onto his shoulders to stop him from falling. “Okay, I think you should sit down.” He looks over and finds that Owen has already flagged down an airport medic, so he focuses all his attention on TK, who is wavering in place but still trying to walk.
“I’m fine,” TK says again, and this time Carlos knows it’s not true. “Seriously Carlos, I– Woah.” He stumbles and squints, a hand going to his chest as he starts to pant. “Maybe you’re…right. I… I don’t…”
He looks up at Carlos, eyes going wide before they roll back in his head and Carlos has to support him to the ground.
“TK?” he calls, but TK is out for the count and he’s relieved when the medic arrives beside them.
“Can you tell me what happened?” she asks, so Carlos does, quickly running her through everything since finding TK on the tarmac. She hums and reaches to pinch the back of TK’s hand, then attaches a blood pressure cuff to his arm.
“His blood pressure is too low,” she confirms when the machine beeps. She packs it away then sits back on her heels, looking over at Carlos. “When was the last time he ate?”
A flush rises on his cheeks and Carlos can’t meet her eyes as he admits, “Yesterday.”
“I thought so.” She rifles through her bag and then there’s something being pressed into Carlos’s hands; he looks down to find himself holding a small packet of saltines and a bottle of water. “He’s just dehydrated and hungry,” the medic explains. “He’ll come around in a minute.”
As if on cue, TK groans and squints against the harsh midday sun. Carlos helps him into a sitting position and the medics backs off, though she hovers close by just in case.
“I’m fine,” TK grumbles before Carlos can even say anything, though he must still feel pretty awful judging by the look on his face.
Carlos just laughs and hands him the water and crackers. “Have those, and then we’ll see about that.”

Several Sentence Sunday

---
From the upcoming chapter eleven of "little boy don't you cry, cause the child in you is still alive"
The fourteen-year-old and ninth grader Tyler Kennedy Strand who goes by Tk was riding high until he was not. His life turned upside down in the course of one short week. It was the 2010 Manhattan school districts homecoming week, everything was good great then it suddenly turned into a nightmare. Now to get away from all the pain his dad is moving him to Austin, Texas. Owen is rebuilding 126 fire-station which recently suffered a great loss, most of the firefighters lost their lives.
Chapter Eleven:
Owen is a firefighter. He is calm and collected professional. He deals with kids getting in trouble all the time and daily. He can do this for Tk. His He is a good boy, always has been. His sweet kid who has a little bit of a temper but never strays too far. However, Tk has been a little accident prone since toddlerhood and has a talented of getting himself hurt and into dangerous situations without realizing. Owen and Gwyn and Enzo are used to the antics of their boy.
Before jumping to conclusions, he tries calling the cellphone of Tk.
He is only faced with the ring and then it goes to voicemail. “Hi. It is Tk Strand. I can not talk right now. Please leave a message after the beep and I call you back as soon as I can. And have a dope day, bye.”
Now Gwyn's name appears on his caller id. “Owen, the school called. Something happened and they can’t find him. I am worried sick. Please tell me he is with you, or that you know where he is. I tried calling him, but he won’t pick up.”

Seven Sentence Sunday
Thank you once again for the tag, @anewkindofme! 🧡❤
I'm now working on Day 10 of Regressuary, so here's what I've written so far:
TK peered anxiously around the bright, colorful room. There were toys and other fun looking activities galore, Littles occupying every corner of the room, some playing together while others played on their own. Despite the exciting environment that would have normally been enough to pull him away from his dad's side, it wasn't enough today.
The sudden noise and movement of two Littles squealing as one ran after the other right past them, had TK tightening his grip on Owen's hand and pressing himself closer to the man.
"Hey, it's okay, baby." Owen gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. "I know it's a little overwhelming, but you're going to have so much fun!"
TK made a noncommittal sound in the back of his throat. "Do I gotta stay, dada?" He turned his head and looked at the man with a pleading expression.
Owen smiled apologetically. "I'm afraid you do, champ."
"Can't go t'work with you?"
"No, honey, you can't. I'm sorry. But you'll only have to stay for a couple of hours. Just until Tommy can come get you, okay?"
"But tha's so fars away!" TK whined, tears filling his eyes and throat growing tight.
"Oh, baby bear. C'mere." The Caregiver pulled the boy into his arms. TK immediately burrowed his face into the man's shoulder, hands coming up to clutch at the back of his work shirt. "I know this place isn't the exact same as your old daycare, but I bet if you give it a chance you'll see that it's just as good as the last."
While this wasn't TK's first time attending daycare, it was the first time he was attending a new one since they left New York. He'd been going to his old daycare since he had been classified at seventeen, so it was understandable why he was feeling so anxious.
TK sniffles, a few tears managing to slip free and soak into the blue fabric of his dad's shirt. "Wha' if..." he trailed off, the tightness in his throat becoming almost suffocating and preventing him from speaking anymore.
"What if what, bud?" Owen gently coaxed, rubbing circles into the middle of TK's back.
The Little swallowed hard and took a few shaky breaths before he finally felt able to speak again.
"Wha' if n'body wants t'be my f'end, dada?"
"Baby bear, that's something you never have to worry about." Owen quietly chuckled. "You are the kind of person everyone wants to be friends with.
"Sure?"
"Of course I am! I bet almost the entire daycare will want to be your friend by the end of the day."
Despite the worries and fear that still wanted to flood his veins, the corners of TK's lips curled up into a small smile, and the grip he had on the Caregiver began to gradually loosen.
"You're gonna be okay, honeybun."
Owen gave the Little's back a comforting pat, before gently pulling out of the embrace and cupping TK's face in his hands, wiping the leftover tears from his cheeks.
"Feeling any better now, champ?"
TK shrugged, leaning into Owen's touch. "Guess a lil'."
"Would you like dada to try and help you find a quiet spot for you to stay at until you feel ready to play with the others?"
TK sucked his bottom lip between his teeth as he thought it over.
"Ah-ah, no biting on your lip, baby bear," Owen gently chided, pulling the little boy's lip free. He slipped the blue pacifier that hung from the clip connected to the Little's sweatshirt into his mouth. "That's what this is for."

(Much more than) Seven Sentence Sunday
Thank you @carlos-in-glasses for the tag! Seven Sentence Sunday is so amazing because I get to read the most amazing snippets and get super excited about future fics, but getting tagged is so lovely because it makes me feel like I have a little deadline where I don’t have to write anymore than seven sentences which really has helped motivate me to turn some ideas into writing!!
I hereby post my very first Tarlos snippet and my first entry to Seven Sentence Sunday!
It is way way longer than seven sentences but as it is my very first time posting and I’m just posting everything I’ve written so far (I literally just wrote it this evening) I hope you can bear with me🙃
Btw this is just pure whump and domestic caretaking/them seeing each other at their worst but it’s the idea that I had the most clear words for so this is what I’m starting off with
Andrea picks up the phone after the second ring.
“Hola mijo!” It’s a good thing you called actually, I was just about to prepare the tamales for lunch tomorrow. How are TK doing on the spices at the moment, is he picking up some tolerance yet? I don’t want to make them too spicy of course, but I really think he should taste them the way your grandma really used to make-“
“Hola Mama.” Carlos hurries. He feels bad for interrupting her but he wants to cancel their plans for lunch tomorrow as soon as possible so he can get back to TK. After today TK will probably be a bit more spice averse than usual anyway, he thinks with a frown, even though they have been working on him upping his tolerance lately.
“Actually mama, I’m really sorry for doing this so late, but I think we’re going to have to cancel tomorrow..”
“Oh no mijo, why? Is everything okay?” Andrea asks before Carlos can finish his sentence, concern lacing her voice.
“Yeah.. I mean, not really”, Carlos clarifies, picking the bridge of his nose. “Actually, TK’s not feeling so good at the moment.” That might be the understatement of the year, Carlos thinks but he doesn’t think TK would want him to lay out all the gritty details of his current condition. “He um, he had those tacos, you know, from that place out by Cameron Road, the one that they’ve been trying to shut down for year-“
Carlos is interrupted again by his mother gasping dramatically at the other end of the line.
“Carlitos!” She admonishes. “You haven’t warned him off about that place?!”
“Why is everybody blaming me?” Carlos feels his voice raising to a higher octave in exasperation. “He doesn’t even usually work in that district!-“
Carlos is once again interrupted, but this time it is by the sound of a painful sounding heave coming from the direction of the open door to their bathroom, followed by a pitiful whine. It shakes him out of his exasperation at being wrongfully appointed the blame for TK’s current misery. Logical or not, he does actually feel bad that he didn’t warn TK off about the taco shop that is by now known by probably all Austin locals, and not for serving delicious tacos - unfortunately.
He can almost hear his mothers pointed silence though the phone, and sighs. The Reyes kids all know better than to argue against Andrea, and she knows it - and exploits in too, although only in situations like these when there isn’t too much at stake. She too, has learned that especially when it comes to Carlos, her doing her best to listen even when she doesn’t fully understand, has repaired their relationship after too many years of just assuming that everything was alright.
He sighs. “I know, I really wish I had told him about it. He really doesn’t feel good mama.” Carlos says worriedly. It’s not that he’s feeling incapable of taking care of TK, but seeing him being in so much pain always makes Carlos feel a little bit desperate and talking to his mom about it makes him feel a little bit less out of his depth.
“I can imagine”, Andrea muses, also sounding like she hates that idea so much. Carlos sometimes still can’t get over how his parents took to TK so quickly, treating him almost as if he was their son too. “It’s a good thing he has you to take care of him Carlitos, I’m sure you’re the best there is at making feel at least a little bit better“ she reassures. Carlos forgets sometimes how well she knows him - or maybe he’s still getting used to believing it again. “I’ll tell your sisters that you two had to cancel,” Andrea continues, “and you let me know if there is anything I can do or if you need me to bring you anything.”
Carlos takes a deep breath, feeling his mom’s reassurances calm him a little. He can do this. “Thank you mama, I will. Although he probably would rather not have anybody seeing him like this, other than me and maybe Owen..”
Another pitiful sound from the bathroom reminds him why he wanted get this conversation over quickly. “I gotta go mama, but thank you. And say hi to Ana and Luisa from us,” he quickly says, before hanging up. He has some shopping to do. But first he’s gonna go rub his poor husbands back for a little while.

checkmate, i never lose
Tumblr media
graphic and beta work done by @chaotictarlos. this fic and this series literally wouldn't exist without their support. thank you <3
this is the first fic in my soulmates series, you would turn into my best life! i hope you enjoy reading this as much as i enjoyed writing it.
TK regrets a lot about his life.
He regrets taking his first pill at fifteen. His boyfriend had given it to him, pressing it into his hand with a smile and a “you’ll feel so good, I promise” along with a beer that TK had stolen from his dad’s fridge. His boyfriend was right, he felt good and then never stopped chasing that high.
He regrets relapsing when he turned eighteen, stinging from the rejection from the NYFD on account of his test scores.
He regrets relapsing again when he was twenty-two. Getting high between shifts and disappearing for days at a time on PTO, sleeping on dirty mattresses in shady drug dens with dirty needles surrounding him because he wanted the high he had that first time. He could never achieve it, more drugs causing more problems until his mom found him on a dirty mattress clinging to his life by a thread.
But TK doesn’t regret anything more than seeing his mother and father, the President of the United States and her First Gentleman sitting at the foot of his bed, slumped into each other, dozing off as they wait for their first and only son to wake up from his latest overdose, hands clutched together tightly.
He watches them for a second, and he feels hot tears of shame and regret burn at the back of his eyes. TK doesn’t remember much but he remembers the handful of pills he swallowed, the way the high didn’t feel good, and how he collapsed onto the floor. He would say that he hadn’t meant to overdose, that he just wanted the pain to stop but the truth was he wanted it all to stop. He’s tired of being hurt, of not having the kind of life he dreamed of when he was younger. He’s tired of being soulmateless and watching every person he falls in love with find their soulmate and leave him as if he’s never meant a damn thing to them.

Apology
Tumblr media
Rating: General
Part two of Letter (should be read before you read this)
Author's Note: I'm so glad people wanted a second part because I had planned on writing this! There will be one more part after this!
For @tarlosweeklyprompts daily prompts: Letter
------------------------------
TK is still thinking about the letter an hour later when he’s done cleaning the living room.
It’s sitting on the coffee table, stuffed inside its envelope and practically screaming at him to continue reading. He’s not sure if his heart can handle reading the words that the letter contains knowing that Carlos wrote it during one of the worst periods of their life together.
Still, he finds himself drifting back to the letter.
He sits back down on the couch and stares at it for a long while before picking it back up and pulling it out of the envelope, picking up where he had left off reading it earlier.
It won’t make you want me anymore. Nothing will do that. Sitting here is as much of a waste of time as writing this letter, yet I can’t stop from doing either.
I’m so angry at you and I don’t want to be, not now when you could die in the next minute. I don’t want to hold onto this anger but it’s so much easier than giving into the ocean of hurt that you’ve left me with.
How can you claim to love someone and then walk out so easily? How can you claim to love someone but not even want to talk and work things out? How could you toss me away so easily, TK? Did what we have matter that little to you?
Did I matter that little to you?
I don’t suppose I’ll ever know the answers to these questions, will I? Because even if you wake up there isn’t an ‘us’ to talk about. I don’t even know if you want me here, but I can’t leave. I can’t not sit here by your side, hoping and praying that you’ll open your eyes and I get to see them again.
I shouldn’t have bought the loft and put your name on it, not without talking to you. I had tunnel vision and all I could think about was us getting our own place and starting the life that we’ve talked about. I didn’t think about how it would affect you, or how it would seem to you and I’m sorry for that. I focused on how much you loved the place and how happy it could make us.
I’m sorry I did that.
It’s just another in the long line of mistakes I’ve made. I don’t think I’ll ever stop making these kinds of mistakes. I want too much and it blows up in my face.
That’s always going to happen, isn’t it? I’m never going to get that happy life that I want, am I?
The answer is no, of course. Because I can’t picture a happy life with anyone but you.
You’ve changed my life in so many ways, more ways than you know TK, and if I hadn’t been so overwhelming, trying to fix everything myself instead of listening to you maybe I could have eventually found the words to tell you.
Maybe we wouldn’t be here, preparing to say goodbye forever because the nursing staff doesn’t have hope you’ll wake up.
I hope you do.
I don’t know how I’ll survive in a world where you don’t exist anymore.
Please come back to me TK. Please.
I’d do anything just to see your smile one more time.
Love, Carlos
There are tears running down TK’s face when he finally comes to the end of the letter. It’s a mess, jumbled thoughts but the feelings that Carlos was obviously feeling when he was writing it were glaringly loud. TK can feel them so strongly it’s like they are his own, and not Carlos’ from a year ago.
TK folds the letter back up and slips it back into the envelope. He’s not sure what to do with the words that he’s read or the feelings that he’s now sitting with. He wonders why Carlos never showed him the letter and why he’s held onto it so long. He wonders why it’s been tucked behind a picture of them.
He wipes his eyes and tries to get up the motivation to continue his tasks, but he can’t. All of it had left as he read the letter and was reminded of how much pain Carlos had been in. Pain that TK’s wanted to take away from him since he woke back up and they started to make amends.
TK allows him to sit in the feelings for a few moments as he thinks about what he wants to do, thinking about how Carlos might still be hurt over everything even though it’s been a while. Why else would he have kept the letter? TK figures that there’s probably an overdue conversation they need to have.
He nods to himself and gets up, letting the letter lay on the table so he could find it later to talk to Carlos and makes his way into the kitchen so he can make dinner and have it ready when Carlos gets home.

FIRE ISLAND
I've posted a new fic on ao3
TK and Carlos take a pilgrimage to New York that includes a night on the legendary Fire Island, where TK is determined to make up for some previous party-day mistakes. They befriend an older couple who open their eyes to what gay life was like decades ago – and why it matters now.
They walk a fair way down the beach, creating a distance between them and the hamlet of bars and beach rentals where guys are milling about. Carlos chooses a secluded spot within a beautiful swathe of grassy sand dunes, freshly whipped by the earlier weather. He takes the towels out of their bag and places them neatly over the sand while TK gazes up at the silver coin moon. He lowers himself down onto a towel, wishing he was better at naming constellations. TK shuffles so he can sit between Carlos’ legs and lean back. The temperature has dropped again and it’s nice to feel Carlos wrapped around him as the sea breeze blows. He relaxes against Carlos’ heartbeat and feels at peace, but sad. The sky above them is so beautiful. He imagines all the men who danced beneath it decades ago for the last time – thinking they’d be back the next year, and the next – how many of them never made it back at all?

In all honesty, Y/N never liked fighting with her parents, especially TK. TK was her lifeline and even though he hadn't been there when she was born or with her in her early years, he was certainly making up for it. So when they fight it breaks them and Carlos. Carlos may have never wanted kids, or at least not yet, but when he met TK's little girl everything changed. Y/N is both of their's whole world even if she doesn't know it.
Y/N didn't like keeping things from her parents but for some reason, she thought this had to be kept from them, what a mistake that was. She wanted to go to a party that her boyfriend, Max, was throwing and attending. Her dads never really liked this boyfriend of hers and thought he was a bad influence. After some persuasion from her and she promised not to fall for his traps they let her date him. The party was on a Saturday and it was a Friday night so now she had to persuade them to let her go and if they said no then she was going to sneak out.
They had just sat down for dinner when she thought it was a good time to bring it out. "Hey, a friend of mine is having a party this Saturday. Can I go?" She asked as she took a bite of her food. TK and Carlos looked at each other.
"Which friend?" Carlos asked after we swallowed and before he took a drink of his drink.
"Kathleen." Y/N said liking the way this was going. Even though that was a lie and Max was throwing the party.
"Are her parents going to be there?" TK asked and when Y/N didn't answer they knew the answer.
"If no parents are going to be there, then it's a hard no." Carlos said
"You guys never let me have fun. It's just one unsupervised party. Max is going to be there." She said getting angry.
"The answer is no especially since Max is going to be there." TK said and she huffed.
"Oh come on! You guys are never going to like him if you don't trust him." She exclaimed
"He doesn't give off very good vibes Cariño." Carlos said trying to stay calm.
"You said you were going to give him a chance." She said and they both sighed.
"We will but not when he's going to be at an unsupervised party with our daughter." TK said and she huffed. They finished their supper in silence, once she was done she stormed off upstairs.
It was a Friday night which meant that both of her parents had to work well into the night, well TK would be working a full 24 hours and Carlos an 12-hour shift. She smiled when she remembered that. They were both going in at 10 PM and it was just now 9:50 PM. Carlos and TK were getting ready and discussing if they really wanted to leave her alone, but they both came to the conclusion that she was a smart girl and that she would make wise decisions. They liked to think that they raised her right. As both the parents were done they walked to the bottom of the stairs. "Y/N, we're about to leave!" TK yelled out and she came downstairs even though she was mad at them she still loved them. When she got down they hugged each other and said their goodbyes and love yous to each other and they were off. Now she just had to wait until they were completely gone. The party started at midnight and would last well into the night and morning. She watched them leave and smiled to herself and waved when they waved at her.
Alright! They're gone! Wanna come over and get ready with me?
Kathleen: I'll be over soon!
Y/N smiled and threw her phone onto the bed and they began to get ready. The two girls talked and giggled. "How did you convince them to go?" Kathleen asked and Y/N shook her head.
"I didn't. They said no but Papa is working until 10 AM and Dad is working a full 24 hrs. I'm planning on staying with Max for the night." She said with a smirk.
"You sneaky little shit." Kathleen said and slightly slapped her on the arm as they both giggled. As 11:59 PM rolled around both of the girls were out the door and heading to Max's house, she noticed that it was colder than usual and wished that she would’ve worn warmer clothing. They got there right at midnight they walked into the house and Y/N greeted Max with a kiss and then a couple of minutes later the party was in full swing.
Around the 30-minute mark, Y/N lost track of Kathleen but she didn't care she was with Max and she had a couple of drinks in her. Her parents would be so upset with her but what they didn't know won't kill them. She was having a great time and nothing could stop it.
3 AM is when the party died down and officially ended at 4 AM. Max was there to make sure everyone was out and then it was just him, Y/N, and Kathleen. They all three looked at each other and then headed into the living room where they sat and talked. "This was probably the best party you've thrown." Kathleen said looking at Max and he smiled.
"I have to agree with that. I'm so glad you guys could come." Max said as he threw an arm over Y/N and she snuggled into him. Kathleen yawned and then they all laughed.
"Well, I better get home. Y/N you staying?" She asked and the other girl nodded.
"Let me know when you get home." Y/N said and Kathleen nodded and made her way out. Max and Y/N both decided that it was time to head to bed and Max would deal with the aftermath later. 10 minutes later she got a text from Kathleen that she was home and now she could sleep in peace.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Max and Y/N slept until their alarm went off at 9:30 AM. It was hard for them to get up neither wanting to leave each other's arms but she had to get home. She got up and put her shoes on and they both headed downstairs the house was trashed but neither of them cared and Max said he would take care of it later. She kissed him and then he was watching her be on her way. He hated that she had to leave but knew that she took a risk and came to the party.
When she stepped outside she shivered. When did it get so cold? She thought to herself as she made her trek back home. When she got to her driveway she saw Carlos' car in the driveway and froze, she would've stayed there much longer but the wind blew and sent a shiver up her spine. Maybe he was in bed and she could go through the front door but then he just got home so her bedroom window it was.
It was really starting to turn cold as she began climbing up the short distance to her second-story room. "Holy shit it's cold." She said to herself as she put one leg through her window that was thankfully unlocked and as she ducked to bring the rest of her body in she thought she was in the clear but she was in fact not.
"What do you think you are doing?" Carlos said and she froze she pulled her body into the room and looked at him.
"Just getting a fresh of breath air." She said and he frowned and crossed his arms.
"Did you go to the party that we said that you couldn't go to?" Carlos said and she didn't say anything "You know I'm going to have to tell your father about this." He said as he pulled out his phone and her mouth dropped.
"What? No. It was just one party and everyone was safe despite the alcohol being there." She said and they both froze.
"What did you just say?" He asked and she shook her head as her eyes widened. Just as one of them was about to speak the door opened.
"Guys! I'm home!" TK said and both of them were still silent. "Guys?" TK said as he walked up the stairs still in his uniform.
"What are you doing home?" Y/N asked TK as he took in the scene before him.
"Dad let me have some time off. Weather is coming in. What is going here?" He asked and she bent her head as Carlos answered.
"I just caught our daughter sneaking into her room after she snuck out to go to the party we told her not to go." Carlos said and TK's expression turned into one of rage and disappointment. "There was alcohol involved as well." He added and Y/N looked up.
"I didn't drink of it. After the party I stayed with Max and Kathleen went home. I wasn't going to walk back home in the dark." She said
"So not only did you lie to us about Kathleen throwing the party it was actually Max." TK said and she knew that she was defeated and when neither of them said anything they walked out and headed downstairs and she followed. When they got to the living room they turned to her.
"We are disappointed in you. We raised you better than this. We're grounding you." Carlos said and her jaw dropped.
"What? That is not fair! It was just one party and I learned from my mistakes." She said almost pleading.
"Not going to happen. You're grounded. End of story." TK said and she huffed and she stormed out of the living room and into the kitchen and they followed her. "Where are you going?" He added and she turned to them.
"I'm going to Max's house. I don't know when I'll be back." She said and stormed out of the house before her fathers could stop her. They looked at each other not knowing what to do but hopes she gets somewhere before the storm hit.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Y/N was in fact heading to Max's house but then it turned colder and it started to snow. This was not good. She had been walking clearing her head before she headed there that had been 6 hrs ago. She didn't even grab a jacket or anything to keep warm. Max lived several blocks away more into the country side of Texas. As she was walking to passed by another person that was walking trying to get out of the storm.
"Hey! I think we need to find shelter!" The male said and she nodded her head "I'm Nate Adams!" He shouted as the wind started to pick up.
"I'm Y/N Strand!" She shouted back the snow was falling faster and getting thicker. "Hey there is a cabin further up! It should be a good place to take shelter!" She said and they fought their way through the blizzard to the cabin. As they were climbing a steep bank of snow Y/N tripped and fell and into a puddle that hadn't quite frozen yet.
"Woah! Are you ok?" Nate asked as he helped her up.
"No, I'm freezing." She said a the wind died down but not for long. They made it to the cabin where they were luckily able to get in due to it being unlocked. By they time she got in her teeth were chattering. She sat down on the old couch as Nate looked around as she tried to warm up.
"There isn't any firewood and this place looks abandoned. I could go out but it would be a risk." He said and she shook her head as she shivered.
"Not worth the risk." She said as her teeth chattered.
"We need to find a way to get you warmed up." He said looking around once again. She really got a good look at him. He was tall about 6'0" and fit with some muscles. He had perfectly styled blonde hair that was cut short, but in a cute way, and some brunette was showing. He was handsome. Much cuter than Max if she had to be honest.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
TK and Carlos were at home it had been 6 hrs since she had slipped out of the house and had ran off. They were getting nervous so what do they do? They call their fathers and let them know what is going and to keep a look out for the teenager. First they called Owen then they called Gabriel both letting them know that they would keep and eye out for her. Then they reluctantly called Max but he said that he hadn't seen her since this morning. Carlos came up behind TK and hugged him. "It's all my fault." He said and Carlos shook his head.
"No it's not. She has every right to be upset. We'll find her and she'll be just fine. She's a fighter after all. Look at who her dad is. She gets it from you." Carlos said and TK turned around kissed him. They both decided that they would go back to work that way they could help look for her and it would keep them from spiraling. They just hoped that she was ok not somewhere warm and safe.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
It was now into the 14th hr and Y/N was doing worse. She didn't feel cold anymore and that scared her. Nate had given her his jacket hoping that would warm her up and it did but she was still in wet clothing which was defiantly not helping. She wanted to close her eyes but fought against it. She shakily grabbed her phone and found that it was nearly dead, she forgot to charge it last night. Everything felt numb and her phone didn't stay in her hands for long before it fumbled out of her hands. "I think I should go look for help." Nate said and she shook her head.
"No it's too dangerous." She said though it was coming out slurred.
"I promise I will be back." He got his phone "What is your number?" He asked and she gave it to him he saved it and sent a text and her phone dinged. "Now you have my number and can call me if I'm not back in 30 minutes." He said and she nodded and was going to give him his jacket but he shook his head. "Keep it. I'll be ok." He said and she got comfortable and he headed out. She hoped he would be back.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Carlos spent most of his time at the 126 that way he could be close to TK. Everyone was sitting around waiting for a call hoping they wouldn't get one and hoping they would at the same time. When they bells went off they took off and Carlos was right behind them. They had gotten a call about an unconscious teenager but they didn't get any other specifics. TK and Carlos along with everyone else hoped it was Y/N that way she would be safe with them but at the same time not because they didn't want her to be freezing. When they got to the destination they got to work. Everyone deflated when they saw it was a male and not a female. "What do we got?" Tommy asked as they got to work on him.
"16 year old male. Hypothermia. Unconscious." Nancy said as they began to move him and he started to wake up. "Sir, do you know where you are?" She asked.
"Y/N. Cabin." He said shivering TK and Carlos looked at each other.
"What about her? What's your name?" Carlos asked
"She's in the cabin about 20 minutes from here. Name is Nate." He said and then fell unconscious. Everyone looked at each other and seemed in agreement Nancy and Tommy would take him and the rest would head up to the cabin.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
When 30 minutes came up she called Nate but before it could even ring her phone died and she groaned and put it in her pocket. She had gotten up from the couch and in the center of the living room. Why? She didn't know why, it just made sense in her head. The wind was howling and she could see the snow falling and had probably blocked the door. She was fighting so hard not to close her eyes but the darkness was inviting and it felt warm. She wanted to be warm. Before she could even begin to close her eyes there was shouting and banging on the door but she didn't have the strength to get up and open or make a sound. "Y/N if you can hear me, we're coming to get you." Carlos said but she didn't register it has being him everything was underwater and fuzzy. There was banging on the door and the windows and there was a crash and cold consumed her.
"Y/N!" TK hollered out and ran to her with Carlos right behind him. "Princess, you're ok." He said and when he laid hands on her he winced she was freezing cold and her clothing was like ice.
"Dad? Papa?" She said in a quiet voice and he pained them.
"We're here Cariño." Carlos said and bent down as both parents cradled her.
"So cold." She said and then fell into the more than welcomed darkness. This panicked them and everyone else in the room.
"Ok, everyone start making a clear path and Carlos you're going to drive her to the hospital." Owen said and everyone nodded and got to work. Carlos picked his and TK's daughter up and started to walk out of the cabin and straight to his car that had the heat blasting. He sat her down in the backseat and TK got in the back with her and hugged her trying to get heat to her and wake her but neither was working and that was scaring him. Carlos sped out of the country road and onto the main road with Owen and the rest of the crew behind them.
"How is she doing?" Carlos asked looking back in the review mirror and then back to the road.
"Not good. How close are we?" TK asked working on his daughter, something he never hoped he had to do.
"Here." Carlos said and threw the car in park and opened the back door for them both as TK grabbed her and they ran into the hospital. Owen had called ahead and warned the hospital and they were waiting for them. TK rattled off what was happening and they took off to begin the warming up process and hopefully the waking up process and hoping that they weren't too late.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
3 hrs is how long the 126 had to wait for any news on Mini TK and they were a nervous wreck. If she was anything like her dad then tragedy and hospitals are going to be in her future.... a lot. They let Kathleen know what was going on and they let Max know too but only one responded. When her doctor came out they called out her name and the fathers and Owen walked up to her. "She very hypothermic and currently in ICU. Her body temperature was 89°F and we are getting it back up slowly. With her body temperature being low her body went into shock and sent her into a coma. We're currently monitoring her. We're only allowing two people to be with her at this time. Although people can stop in to see her only two people can stay the entire time." She said and they nodded.
"We're her fathers. We'll be staying with her." TK said and she nodded and lead them the way to her. When they got to her they felt their hearts dropped. She had been intubated and serval IV lines running to her. They took a seat beside her and waited. Everyone had left to finish out their shifts but they were right back at the hospital waiting on news.
Andrea, Gabriel, and Owen were the ones that stayed the most since they were Mini TK's grandparents. It was going into a week and nothing had changed. They did get information on Nate and he was awake and recovering. When he heard that she was in the hospital too he decided to pay her a visit. He asked the nurses where she was and they led him to her. Carlos and TK looked up when they heard a knock and they smiled and he returned it and walked into the room when they motioned him to come in. "Hey, you don't know me. I'm Nate Adams. You're daughter and I took shelter together." He said and both fathers agreed that they liked him better than they did Max.
"Thank you for getting our daughter to safety." Carlos said and Nate nodded. "How are you doing?" He asked.
"Better. I'm being released in a day or two." He said and they nodded and he sat down when they offered him a seat. They talked and got to know him and they really liked him. He eventually had to go back to his room but he promised to come and visit when he was able to and that made them smile.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
It was during the night when she started showing signs of waking up. Both parents were asleep but woke up when they heard rustling and alarms blaring. Nurses rushed in and pushed them out of the way just as soon as Mini TK's eyes shot up and she began coughing. Orders were thrown out and they got her extubated and then once her doctor was happy with everything she left. Carlos and TK walked up to her and she smiled at them "I knew you guys would find me. I'm sorry for walking out and then getting caught in a snow storm." She said then her expression turned to one of seriousness "How's Nate?" She asked and they smiled.
"Hey, it's ok. We forgive you and we're both sorry." Carlos said.
"As for Nate. He's doing good. He came down to visit you earlier today. We really like him." TK said and she smiled and blushed. They talked for awhile and everyone came by to see her and bring her presents. They kept her in ICU for a few more hours when they were satisfied with her improvement they brought her to a regular room and wanted to keep her for at least two more days.
During those two days she was fussed over by Carlos and TK and everyone else. Kathleen had came to visit and they gossiped about everything especially Nate. Max had yet to answer texts or calls or even show up. While TK and Carlos went to get something to eat after her telling them that she would be fine they reluctantly agreed and went down to the cafeteria. She was watching TV when she heard a knock on the door and her thinking it was one of them members of the 126 told them to come in and then she looked over and saw Nate. "Nate! How are you?" She asked.
"Better now that I know you're ok." He said sat down in the chair beside her. She blushed madly.
"I tried to call but my phone died when I hit call." She said and looked down and he smiled and took her hand.
"Hey, its ok." He said and she smiled.
"How did they find you and me?" She asked
"Apparently someone called 911 and when they found me I told them where you were." He said and she smiled "I lost consciousness soon after and woke up here." He said with a smile. They continued to talk and it was real easy to talk to him. They liked the same things and had the same hobbies. They had so many things in common more so than her and Max. She really liked Nate better than Max even after one day. After all they did survive a freak blizzard together.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Carlos and TK were walking back up from the cafeteria and when they reached her room they paused. Inside was Nate and Y/N talking and seeming like they were enjoying each others company. They decided to let the two teenagers talk and they would come back later. As they were walking they smiled for several reasons. 1. Their daughter was ok and would make a full recovery. 2. She found another friend and hopefully an even better boyfriend. They really liked the idea of him and her together despite them not wanting her to grow up but if its with someone they like and someone that would treat her right and save her from a blizzard.... then that is a win in their book.

WIP WEDNESDAY
this was supposed to be for @tarlosweeklyprompts but it stayed in my drafts, these games finally got me back to working on this (and yes I finally got around to make the banner lol)
TK was just about to change the song when, suddenly, a frisbee came flying towards him. He managed to catch it before it hit his face and turned to see who it belonged to. And there, standing a few feet to his right, was a handsome guy, looking a little wide-eyed and embarrassed.
“I’m sorry,” he chuckled nervously, shifting on his feet and fidgeting with the bracelet on his left hand. “The wind picked up and I couldn’t control the throw.”
“Oh, umm,” TK blinked, mesmerised by those brown eyes, soft lips, strong arms and tan skin standing there, blessing his day. “It’s okay! No worries at all,” he smiled, biting his lip to not grin —which he knew he probably failed at.
“Thanks,” the guy said, grinning back. “Can I have it back?”
TK blinked again, remembering that he still had the frisbee in his hands. “Oh, of course!” he chuckled a little embarrassed, giving the disc back to him.
“Thanks… I’ll see you around, then?” the guy asked, walking backwards, a devilish smirk playing on his lips.
“Sure”, TK shrugged, trying to be nonchalant.
With a wink, he disappeared among the crowd and TK fell back on his towel and closed his eyes, returning to his music world. At least, he tried to.
