Word Girl AU: I almost killer her...

Part 2!!!

Narrator: Last time on… WORRRRRD GIRRRRL! Tobey threatened to crush the city!!! A G A I N!!! But this time has threatened Word Girl with the power of Lexonite! Will she be able to escape his desperate hands? Will she be forced to live a life of constantly forced playdates? WILL TOBEY STOP BEING SUCH A DUMMY AND LISTEN TO HER???!!! Find out… Maybe in this episode of… WORD GIRL!!! "

WG: " C'moooooon TOOOOOBEYYYYYY, what's the matter?? Afraid your mommy will yell at you for getting your shoes dirty??? "

" Ye- N O!! of course …. Not!! Of course not I just don't see the fun in splashing around in… Puddles," he said with a cringe on his face, reaching up to adjust his glasses as Word Girl jumped and made another splash in the muddy puddle getting more onto her already dirty super hero suit.

WG: " Yeah.. I'm sure that's totally the reason. "

" Aren't we supposed to be doing things that we BOTH…. enjoy?? "

WG: " hmmmm I dunno, kinda hard to enjoy myself when I'm being THREATENED to have a good time. "

" GRRRRRHHHMMM!!! " He took a deep breath in and then let it back out.. putting up his hands in a defensive manner before folding them behind his back " Alright… It's fine we have plenty of day to spare after all~ hmhmhm… Besides it wouldn't be all fun to just… Be in control of the entire thing… Some things have to be natural. "

Word Girl scowled with a roll of her eyes and continued to jump in the mud with an even more salty attitude to her… Tobey didn't get it. Word Girl was never his biggest fan, but they've had nice moments together, so what if he was using a new tactic to anchor her to his level??? What was different now than all the other times, why was she so… So… Furious at him??? His robits were well behaved, not destroying a single hair on anybody's head. He made robits to PROTECT this city while she was occupied!! To him, everything was the same… He's threatened her to hang out with him various times or even lied to her about a tracker remote so she would spend time with him naturally… Though now it could last! She wouldn't be whisked away by any other problems of any kind, it was just them and his heart fluttered at the thought. He turned his attention back to the girl hero who jumpscared him by being right beside him again.

" GHHH HUH!?!? "

WG:" Hehe.. I'm done jumping… Figured you'd want me to hold your hand again.. or else and what not. "

She offered her hand to him and his face got all red… Thoughts scattered in his mind and a hint of guilt rose up in the depths of his throat… But he quickly swallowed them and grabbed her hand in his once again. He wouldn't be able to live out this fantasy forever!! … Maybe… So he might as well take what he can get hmhmhm!!

" You know… By now you would usually have defined something… Won't you? I want to hear you define something. "

WG: " …..I can try, Lexonite makes it harder for me to define things, Tobey. "

" I know… But it's only a little bit, I did my best scientific research for the best amount of the meteorite to use on you~! "

Word Girl's brow twitched: " charming… "

" Oooh define that~ define… Charming~ "

She pinched her nose, rubbing it some before her eyes cast to the sky as she thought some, " Charming…. Charm… Charmed… To be Charming is to be… Good… you like it a lot uuuuuhhhh… "

She struggled some. Tobey opened his mouth, but she shoved her free hand to his face. " I got it, I got it…. Charming is to like something, it's really good and nice. Like the summer breeze is charming to feel against my face. "

They both went silent for a minute, Tobey reaching up to rub the back of his head a little before he snickered some.

WG: " What?? It's not my fault okay??!! "

" I know… heeheeheeheee… I just heeheeheehee… you're still cute even while trying your best just to fail heeheehee! "

WG: " Wh- "

" UH I MEAN… LOOK A BIRD-"

He tugged on her to pull her along the park more and head towards the public library as they could both find enjoyment there that wasn't so… Messy! And …. Nature…y!! When they got there Word Girl was a bit more excited than before, given her passion for reading, going over to the reading spots to pick the optimal one….

WG: " Right here. " She smiled some as she circled a cozy little spot near the wall that had bean bag chairs and a lamp that you could adjust to your liking. Tobey shrugged,

" Ah yes… I've grown quite fond of this spot myself, even if I must share it with Becky Botsford… This is her favorite reading spot too. "

WG laughed a bit: " Well what can I say? It's a really good spot… Anyways let's get some books! What were you thinking? "

" Oh… Uh… I was thinking that we could split up and grab the ones we want to share with each other the most! Not a… Favorites kind of thing, but just enjoying specific ones?? Together?? "

Word Girl tilt her head some but then got a very stern thinking face, " The books I want to share the most… That's just as impossible as asking me for my favorites though!!! "

Tobey laughed some: " Y-ehehes I know, Word Girl, but I think it will be a great bonding experience!! Now just make sure you do Not fly off and try anything or eeeeeelse~ "

Her current smile turned back into a disappointed frown. " Right… I had almost forgotten about the whole robots thing… Maybe we could have actually had a good time if you didn't feel the need to bring it up. "

She quickly walked away as he rose an arm up towards her, wanting to stop her, but he bit his lip and looked away in shame… No… No it's okay Tobey… She loves reading SOOOOO much that she'll probably forget all about it once again! Then you can both get ice cream!! You can use your pocket money to pay for her, she'll be so impressed! Thus he went off in a different direction to pick out his own books that he wished to share… Or he would have if it was easy, Word Girl was right! How is he supposed to pick just a few? These engineering books weren't just informative but inspiring! Then there were books about fictional super heroes.. some of his favorites were Jean Montone, Dr. Oddone, and a fanmade one specifically made off Word Girl: Literature Lady.

Strong but smart super heroes that used their intellect and powers to save the day… Well except his favorite real favorite, Dr. Destruction, who was a villain, buuuut hey they can't all be good. Eventually, he found himself back at the spot they had picked for sharing books and the lights were on in the library, he must have spent hours looking for the perfect books to show Word Girl- and seems she did too! As she was only coming back at the same time with what looked like two books from every single aisle in the library, the entire Pretty Princess collection, and every single Thesaurus and Dictionary the library had- Tobey gawked a little bit with big eyes that slowly became love struck as he got a squiggly smile. Only she could do something like that and look cool…

WG: " It was really hard not just picking up every book the library had! I love all the books because they all have something good they can share! "

Tobey snickered and motioned to the rolling cart he had borrowed to carry his own books over since he did not have super strength and currently didn't have any small robots on him to help him in the library. " Y-y hehehes I see~! I actually had quite the difficult time myself, there are just so many good ones that I- "

WG gasped and flew over to nab a book off his pile to hold it in front of her, " Dr. Oddone!! I LOVE!! Dr. Oddone!! His powers are so surreal as he goes to other planets and solves what would seem to be impossible problems! Not an unrealistic story if I say so myself since y'know snort I'm from a whole different planet and all! "

" Y-yes! Actually I didn't think of that… I just really enjoy how he is able to not just use his amazing powers to save the day but his ingeniously high IQ too! And to think he used to be such an … An uhhh- "

WG: " -Entitled? "

" Yes! An entitled man that was only in it for the money… How a bit of… Uhmm- "

WG: " -Humility? "

" Uhm…yes.. again thank you ahem how humility changed a man. "

WG snorted again and put the book down before going to sit in the spot while grabbing her own book to share. Looking up at Tobey with a genuine smile… His cheeks felt warm as he approached her and- sat ….down…be-SIDE HER!!!!!! HGGGG! His heart was racing at 10 miles per hour right now, he's never had such a meaningful heart-to-heart with Word Girl before. She moved her arms so the book she had was in front of both of them, he was so happy…. Until he read the cover of the book and his eyebrows rose some in confusion.

" 'Empathy and You'? This is the first book that Word Girl, super hero of the city… Wants to share more than anything else? "

Word Girl gave a bit of a side eye look while shrugging, " IIIIIIII think it has some really meaningful lessons in it like: how to feel compassion for others, thinking about how your actions impact the world.. ooo look at this one- "

She opened the book and put her finger to a paragraph to which Tobey was not impressed but .. he couldn't just say no. The deal was to collect what books they wanted to share and share them, so he went along with it and read the book with her…

Hours Later

Tobey lifted up his glasses and rubbed his eyes some with the back of his hand as Word Girl finished reading aloud the last book they were going over together: 'How to Know if You are Feeling Guilty and What You can do to Solve the Problem.'

WG: " yaaaaaaawn oooomf… Man… What time is it? " She looked up at the nearest clock and her eyes widened as she suddenly zipped up from her spot, putting her hands to the sides of her head " OH NO!! I'm gonna be late for dinner!! We must have been called back hours ago!! Here Tobey, I'll put away all the books I need to go! "

" D-don't forget to meet me at my house tomorrow! "

WG: " Uh huh, sure. " She said quickly as she zipped off in a hurry to put away all the books… Tobey got up and did a big stretch, cracking his back and yawning once again. They spent nearly all day in the library bonding over books!! Word Girl even seemed a bit impressed when he showed her a book that wasn't engineering!! And even when he did, he got to explain how the words functioned in robots!! Of course she knew what the words meant, however, she didn't understand the fundamentals of building them in a live robot hehehehehe~💖 Even her books were more or less very interesting.. he didn't really get into the Pretty Princess stuff as much as she was, but he enjoyed listening to her talk about it for a long period of time. Going over the dictionary together was pretty neat as he learned some new words and she rambled about the word's history a little bit. She's so beautiful~ Using one of his robots on standby to carry him home, upon getting inside he was greeted to the smell of a wonderfully made stew by his mother. After going to the table to sit down, he thanked his mom and chowed down before immediately going upstairs to get ready for bed.

As he brushed his teeth… He felt a tug in his chest that he didn't understand. This weight of feelings inside him that seemed to come out of nowhere.. he wondered what it was but ultimately was to tired to keep worrying about it and went to bed thinking about what he would do with Word Girl tomorrow….

His eyes shut and his head was filled with childish glee as he was carried around the city by Word Girl and they took in the sights together.

" This is amazing Word Girl, you have such a way with flying~ "

WG giggled… But then her voice became serious, " Too bad this can't be genuine, right? ….Power Freak. "

His eyes widened some as he looked up to see Word Girl scowling at him, sweat beaded his head. " Wh- what? What are you talking about? Word Girl why are you- "

She sneered: " -Why am I??!!? You have the audacity to ask me why I'm being mean when YOU are holding me against my will!?? I knew we could never get along.. I don't even know why I humor you and tell your mom. You deserve to rot in jail. "

" W-Word girl!?? " He looked down to see the Lexonite necklace on his body and he panicked. " N-no!! You don't understand!! I … I mean yes I'm using it, b-but-!! "

She shook her head and he felt her hands loosen their grip. " 'But' nothing… I'm just a toy like the city… " she let go, " aren't I…. THEODORE? "

" NOOOOOOOOOOOOO- " Tobey flung himself up from his bed as his voice cracked, " NO! NO PLEASE WORD GIR- "

He panted some as his vision took in his surroundings, his chest was pounding as he felt the weight of his body being supported by his bed and not at the mercy of the wind from falling from a ridiculous height. A…..a nightmare …. Just a nightmare.. Tobey… He rubbed his eyes some just to realize that his face was wet. Pulling his hands away, he saw the tears forming at the sides of his eyes and a hicc escaped the back of his throat.

" MOMMMMYYYYYYYY " He got up out of bed and went running to his mother in tears, spending the rest of the night by her side….

The Next Morning

Tobey was awake bright and early, sneaking out of his mother's bed to head back to his own room and sit upon his rocking chair. Face going into his hands as he groaned. What was that dream?? Word Girl would never say those things to him, let alone drop him from that height to his demise… Right, because it was all a stupid nightmare!!! Nothing more! It didn't mean anything, it was just his doubts about this plan working out like he intended….. Mmmmmmmm…. He sat there for a bit 'til he heard their doorbell ring and he perked up.

" I got it! " He quickly got changed and brushed his hair, then proceeded to run down the stairs and go to the front door and look out the spy glass to see!! Word Girl!! ….and… A giant Roboooot ARM!?!?!

He flung the door open and gazed at the giant robot arm in dismay, going to his knees. " MY- MY ROBITS!!! "

Word Girl gave a smug grin. " H e h ~ what's the matter, Tobey? I wake up too early for your liking? I came over like you saaaaid~ "

His fists clutched and shook as a low grumble came from the boy, " GRRRRRR! HOW DARE YOU!! "

WG: " Easily. "

" You weren't supposed to defeat them while I was in bed!! "

WG: " And let the robots menacingly stand over the city threatening the city AND the rest of my weekend? Ye-ah hah! No. I don't think so. " She folded her arms as Tobey scowled at her, pointing a finger.

" You may have won this time Word Girl… But there is plenty of Lexonite in the galaxy, and I will have my perfect playdate you hear me!?!?! "

WG sighed and face palmed: Tobey…… No… How could I expect you to have learned anything from yesterday…. There's nothing for you to feel guilty about… Is there…. "

Tobey sweat some and fiddled his fingers before clearing his throat and scoffing " of course not, your little lie about it being life threatening was nothing more than that; a lie… Besides anytime I ask you if we can hang out without a giant Robit being there you say no! "

They both were silent, Word Girl just shaking her head some before flying away. Tobey folded his arms in a pretzel and turned around only to be greeted by his mother in her robe giving him the Mom Glare. Reaching to grab his ear and drag him inside- grounding him for the rest of the week…
