With a soft shove, the door of the Cacao creamery opened with the soft ringing of the door bell. Madison had been craving some scoops for a few days now, and finally she set foot into her favorite guilty pleasure spot ever. The shop was pretty quiet for the time of day, so she strolled right up to the counter. ‘’Hey Todd. It’s still pretty quiet in here.’’ she smiled, her eyes already darting towards the different flavors of ice cream.

“Ain’t no huntin’ dog of mine gon’ be out there with a gimp paw,” Amos Slade warned, voice low and gravelly as he brought his face closer to his son’s. As Cooper gulped nervously, Charlie watched from the side, eyes cautious but completely unsympathetic. If his father lashed out at Cooper then he’d step in after a few hits, but he’d already told his brother not to argue with their dad. Yet as soon as Chief had got his paw mangled and caught in a bear trap, Cooper had been adamant that this wouldn’t stop his dog from being useful.

“But, sir,” Cooper tried again, even though he could see how much his insolence was grinding on his father’s patience. “But – but, sir.”

That seemed like the only thing he could say at that moment, but he was desperate. Desperate to stop his father from cocking his rifle and pointing it at his dog. Even if Chief could be a cranky little shit at times, Cooper didn’t want to see him go down all because he’d stumbled on a trap. He could feel the dog’s wet nose push into his hand and his heart clenched painfully.

“Just… just let me pay for the operation myself,” he offered. It would mean picking up an extra few shifts at Ramirez’ but cars were breaking down all the time in the fall so there was never a lack of footfall at the autoshop. Plus, Audrey’s dad was always willing to help Cooper out when he needed it, so really there should have been no qualms about Chief going to the vet, but the thunderous look on Amos’ face hinted otherwise. Cooper knew what was coming and hooked his bottom lip between his teeth, chewing it nervously and praying his father would ease up just this once.

“You jus’ wanna get down to that vet’s and see that fruit,” his father growled. Expecting this but feeling his heart sink into his stomach nevertheless, Cooper shook his head vehemently.

“No, sir. I told you, Todd ain’t mean nothin’ to me no more,” he promised. His father didn’t look convinced, eyes narrowed and yellowing teeth bared. Realising he hadn’t done enough, Cooper subtly sucked in a breath before adopting a firmer tone and looking his father dead in the eyes. “You know I don’t associate with his kind none. I ain’t disgustin’ like those queers.”

The words tasted like bile on his tongue and he swallowed roughly, as if he was trying to get rid of the aftertaste brought on by saying them. But the slur seemed to satisfy his father who nodded approvingly. “S’pose we can’t afford another dog,” his father relented at last. “Fine. Get. But this is the last time I let you go soft on me.”

“Yes, sir!” Cooper nodded eagerly, practically wilting in relief. As his father stalked away, he swivelled around, ready to pick Chief up when he caught sight of Charlie sending him a knowing look instead. “What?” he asked, heat creeping up his neck. His older brother pushed himself to his feet and walked over, looking down at Cooper, evidently enjoying the good few inches he had on him.

“Nice act in front of Dad,” he smirked. “You nearly had me fooled.”

“Shut up, Charlie!” Cooper snapped, elbowing by his older brother and busying himself with hoisting Chief into his arms. He didn’t want his brother to see the blush on his cheeks, refusing to give him anything else that he could hold over him and use to remind him that he’d never be the picture perfect Slade son, not like he was. No matter how many girls Cooper brought home, Charlie had bedded more and was treated to clap on the back from their Dad. Cooper never received that proud ‘atta boy!’ when they went hunting, too busy hesitating with his rifle while Chief took down three bucks in the space of time it took Cooper to get his loaded.

Shaking off his brother’s taunts, Cooper carried Chief out the house and down the porch steps, stalking over the weed-covered front lawn and trying not to buckle under the weight of his dog until he reached his car. Letting Chief rest in the bed of his truck, Cooper climbed into the cab and shifted the gear stick, yanking several times before it finally gave and let him drive. His engine rumbled to life and he pulled out of the makeshift driveway of his home which was nothing more than two sandy lines of flattened grass, constantly run over by tires. It was only when he drove down Cherry Grove’s Main Street that Cooper felt like he had managed to rejoin civilisation.

If it hadn’t been for Chief’s mangled paw causing his dog so much pain, Cooper might have hesitated outside the clinic. He didn’t necessarily want to go in, because he knew there was a high chance that Todd might be there. And if Todd wasn’t, then Nick might be and he doubted that he was in the older Wilde’s good books after everything that had went down between him and Todd. But his dog took precedence over Cooper’s own personal feelings and he hurriedly carried him inside.

Even if the sight of Cooper carrying an oversized mutt hadn’t managed to attract the attention of Todd sitting by the receptionist’s desk, the traitorous bell above the door made sure it tinkled out the sound of Cooper’s arrival. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the blonde look up and hovered awkwardly in the middle of the room, not saying anything at first and feeling like someone had socked him in the gut the minute he laid his eyes on Todd. He’d seen him around town of course, and each time Cooper had shifted his gaze, pretending he was much more interested in the chipped paint of a water hydrant rather than his childhood best friend. But he hadn’t had a proper conversation with the other boy for what must be years now and the daunting prospect of having to face that head-on seemed to wind him.

“I…” he began, but nothing else came out. When Chief let out a loud whine, Cooper startled at once and looked down at his dog. “My dog. Uh, Chief. He’s… he got his paw caught in a trap. He needs… can you help him?”

eddstuck plot 1.0 (this is subject to change!!!)

Jon1 is a heir of breath. When gamzee1 godtiers jon after he calliborn kills him, gamzee1 realizes if jon uses his powers he’ll die. he decides to chucklevoodo jon1 so he can’t use his powers. Calliborn killed jon1 because he was distracting gamzee1 from being a ruthless killing machine. Equ1us’s bow is strung to make a necklace of void for jon1. jon2 became grimdark after witnessing his gamzee murder 2ollux and realizing gamzee didn’t tell him that he godtiered. jon2 goes on murderous rampages and condy heals everyone he kills out of pity.

edd2 gets murdered by 3dd (while human). when 3dd godtiers (after his sprite merger with mindfang and feferi) he himself also becomes a troll. 3dd has full control of his sprite merger with minding and fef.

matt1 was hatched by condy to take care of mindfang’s first attempt at revolution (condy was too lazy to deal with it herself) he was immune to mindfang’s trickery due to his narcissism, and dealt the final blow to her. matt1 later challenges condy and stomps her with his highheels. this fight ends when matt1 chips his nail and his fans go bezerk on condy. matt1 becomes king and takes down his highborn tyranny and appoints his morail (todd1) as the new judge (todd works very hard and is fair to lowbloods). matt1 keeps a courtroom full of his fans, and todd1 uses them as a jury. matt1 leaves some people with todd1 in the courtroom at all times to keep him company.

doc1 carries todd1 to bed when he passes out after working all day. todd1 is very worried that doc1 will die before he does, but doc’s life powers have made him (and all his family) immortal. todd1 and doc1 get married and matt1 is the best man. todd2 explains to doc2 that he should be freed from the ship, and sneaks him off on a random planet. doc2 gets mauled by a native creature, dies, and godtiers, and goes around healing people with his new powers. doc gets his glasses from todd as a gift. todd2 checks back on doc2 to see doc running (or more like flying) back to him. doc2 was lonely on the planet, but he’s not mad.
