I may have mixed feelings for AC Rogue and Shay in general but I will always have a soft spot for Shay because of one specific reason.

For those who don't know (or may have forgotten), Ezio Trilogy's controls let you choose if you want Ezio to run or walk. Black Flag/Rogue's control does the whole "tilt a bit to walk, tilt some to jog, tilt all the way to run" setup that many other games do.

The problem with that is I played Black Flag and Rogue on my PS4 and both of my controllers are fucked in two different ways.

A red one that has a disabled down button

A white one that does not register being tilted all the way and only registers it in Black Flag and Rogue as... a jog.

So I used the white one because that down button is necessary and I never noticed that Shay (and Edward) were jogging the entire time I played. I just assumed that was his top speed. I didn't realize the white one is fucked until after I finished Rogue.

How did I know?

I kept getting a game over in the last mission's chase sequence because Shay jogs like a dude jogging in the park every morning to get some cardio. There was an early chase sequence that I had a similar problem with but I managed to clear that by just having Shay shoot the target before he gets to run (aka: smashbuttonsmashbuttonsmashbutton during the loading scene). I was honestly about to give up on Rogue until the white controller needed to be charged so I changed to my red controller and thought "eh, I probably won't need the down button anyway".

Lo and behold, Shay finally ran like he was chasing the ending credits of this goddamn game and I cleared the last mission in one go.

And that is the story of how Shay Patrick Cormac taught me that I have two fucked up controllers.

No, I did not buy another controller. I simply played games with the limitation of both of my controllers. Since I know what they can't do, I just... adapted...

15,99€ for watching the Eras Tour Movie (Extended version) just one time?!? Are you serious?!? It breaks my heart, but I won't watch it. I might be a Swiftie, a crazy Swiftie, but I'm not stupid or blindly doing or watching everything that has to do with Taylor, just because it is Taylor. That price is way too much. For that price I can often buy concert films and watch tem as much as I want. My bank account is not as big as Taylor's.

i am of the opinion that mic is an incredible singer (he's professionally voice trained) but gets way too into it and far, far too loud. he doesn't get many chances to flex 😔

I've been brainstorming stuff I can potentially bring to the Patreon (esp in the higher tiers) and just... there's exciting things coming.

(As always, the plan is to still make my stuff available on AO3 at some point, in terms of the writing).

(But I'm having serious looks into merch this year. I used to offer it once many many years ago, and now I think there are ways I can offer it again that are very specific to Fae Tales / my writing.)

(Another thing I'm doing is looking into publishing paperbacks/hardbacks while leaving the ebooks as the AO3 stories. I am not comfortable publishing ebooks for money while I keep my stories online for free, but I am comfortable publishing paperback and hardback editions with better editing / maps / pronunciation etc. and it's just a matter of figuring out the best way to do that. So far I'm looking at IngramSpark. No ETA, I have absolutely no ETA, but just know I'm really really seriously looking into this too).

(But merch will probably happen first).
