@uncleskyrule happy belated birthday!!! Thank you so much for your patience while I wrote this! I hope it's worth the wait!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Four knows what sleep deprivation looks like.
He’s seen it spelled out on his grandfather’s face when long days turn his usual joviality to melancholy exhaustion and draws the shadows of half moons beneath his eyes.
He’s seen it painted across Dot’s beautiful features after an arduous night when the memories resurface, memories of a leering crimson eye, of claims to possession hanging heavy over her, of cages and darkness and smothering magic.
He’s seen it shadowed across his own face too, when the battles within and without grow to be too much, darkening his features, drawing them thin, sucking the youthful fat from his cheeks, the light from his eyes.
And he’s seen it…on the faces of his brothers.
On Time’s when the moon is full. On Twilight’s when a quiet twilight falls and skeletal trees whisper in tongues known only to some. On Wild’s when the amnesia recedes, Warriors’ when phantom lips press across his cheek, Wind’s after he awakens screaming his sister’s name. On Hyrule’s when he gives too much, Legend’s when the adventures he never speaks of tell their tale in his petrified cries at night…
And now on, Sky’s.
Some may find it strange for a man who can drift off practically anywhere to suffer from fatigue. Add to that uncanny ability, Sky’s penchant for seeming one of the most mature of their little group, the most…put together.
But Four is well acquainted with the deceptions someone can tell through demeanor alone. He himself has been dubbed mature, put together, responsible. And while, yes, those labels are true (Four would certainly be cross if people decided to start dubbing him childish or, Hylia forbid, a disaster as they call some more unruly children in his Hyrule), the lie rests in the assumptions they bring about.
Beliefs of invincibility and impervious spirit. Beliefs that there is no need to be gentle or kind, no need to offer respite or lighten the load.
It is the same fate their leader suffers so often, the same Warriors and Twilight sometimes crumble beneath. Suffering silently, yet always strong. So strong.
And Sky…
Sky hides it better than anyone.
Four is uncertain whether or not he is the only one who notices his distress. Perhaps, he is.
It doesn’t matter though. In fact, if he is the only one who has taken note of it then it is all the more important that he do something before Sky’s inevitable collapse.
But life never makes things simple. And in the end, he’s too late.
It has happened too many times now — a portal that separates the heroes into mismatched groups. Four thinks that perhaps, after his near defeat at the combined hands of the champion and the rancher the Shadow is attempting to be more careful.
More conniving. More vicious.
Attack first and you won’t be defeated. Such is the attitude of wild animals and beasts. More than likely, the Shadow shares it too.
This would explain why in addition to splitting the heroes up, this portal also dumps them right onto a battlefield.
Or at least, it does for Sky, Legend, and himself. Four can’t be sure what the others are facing. But he can only pray it isn’t a sand-drenched dungeon packed with redeads and stalfos.
The unearthly screeches of the emaciated corpses fill his ears as he fights, teeth gritted, heart pounding. It’s all the three heroes can do to stay out of reach of their paralyzing cries.
Back up to escape one beast and you nearly collide with the mad swing of a stalfos’ claymore.
Four winces as the very tip of a blade slices across his left arm and leaves an angry gash in its wake.
That’s going to need a bit of potion to remedy.
Beside him, Legend growls what sounds like a curse as he plunges his hand into his pouch and retrieves a fire rod. He brings it in a sweeping horizontal arc. In a blaze of blistering heat, a group of the monsters fall.
“Well done,” Four says with a breathless smirk. He plunges his sword into the gaping chest cavity of one of the stalfos still struggling for survival on the darkened floorboards. With a raspy exhale, it dissolves into ash. “I think you just turned the battle in our favor.”
“I’d better have,” Legend huffs. “The sooner we get rid of these things, the sooner we can get out of here.” He screws up his face in a grimace. More monsters crumple beneath his skilled hands. “It smells like death.”
It does, indeed, Four thinks as, finally, the last of the monsters fall. The stench of it hangs heavy, permeating the thick darkness that surrounds them, wafting from the thin threads of light carrying from faltering torches.
But now that the battle is over they can focus on escape. Hopefully, to a place where it proves easier to breathe.
He sheathes his sword, glances around. The gash on his arm throbs and the various bruises and smaller cuts he earned join in its stomach-churning beat. Still, it could have gone far worse.
“We all okay?” Legend asks, bangs falling into his face as he replaces his fire rod.
“Yes,” Four says. “How about you…Sky?”
His voice pitches an octave higher as he catches sight of the Skyloftian, turning the question almost into an exclamation.
The knight lies crumpled where he had stood mere moments before. The Master Sword lies fallen beside him, his cape flows over him like a blanket of snow. His breath comes in shuddering gasps that grate upon Four’s ears as he races to his side.
“Sky!”
He shakes him, slightly, and hazy blue orbs flutter open. Sky groans.
“What happened?” Legend drops down beside him, panic in his voice and a half-empty potion bottle in his hand. “Did a monster get him?”
Four shakes his head. “I don’t think so.” A quick inspection provides no sign of blood or other injury. But Sky’s face is ashen and he shudders as though in the throes of fever. “Sky, are you hurt?”
“N-not hurt.” Sky curls his fingers into a fist, as though attempting to gather strength. “J-just…just…” He swallows, tries to drag himself up, and nearly collapses again. It’s only Four and Legend’s quick movement that keeps him upright. “‘M fine.”
“Like hell you are!” Legend’s eyes are blazing with emotion now. “Sky, what happened?”
Sky shudders again. He glances down at the trembling hands he has folded into one, white-knuckled fist. There is a certain helplessness in the look.
“I dunno,” he croaks. “Was fighting and the room start-started swirling.” He curls in on himself further, and Four wonders if the next shaky exhale brings tears with it. His voice is very small. “I just-just fell.”
“And you didn’t have the strength to get back up,” Four says, solemnly. An idea is already forming in his head, a confirmation of what he has witnessed these past few hellish weeks.
I should’ve acted sooner.
But there had been fights both in and out of the group, and injuries and secrets unveiled. There had been discussions long overdue, restorations to be made in the face of pain and sorrow. And he, he had been in the midst of it all.
Between explaining the Four Sword and its powers and making up with Wild, he just hadn’t found the time…
“You haven’t been sleeping, Sky…have you?”
Now, Sky raises his head, glazed eyes focusing unsteadily on Four. Slowly, he shakes his head.
Legend blows out a sigh. He sits down beside Four and brings a dusty hand over his sweaty brow.
“Sleep deprivation? Yeah, that’ll do it. How long haven’t you been sleeping?”
Sky swallows. A beat passes, then another. The oppressive feel of death begins to crowd in on Four again. He struggles to breathe beneath it.
Then, “Since Twilight,” Sky whispers, and Four’s heart plummets to the depths of his stomach.
Legend’s hand falls to his lap with more viciousness than defeat. His face screws up in an expression that toes the line between sorrowful and intensely irritated. “I knew something was up! I knew it! I should’ve — ”
“Couldn’t have done anything,” Sky croaks, leaning further into Four’s touch. A small smile quirks his lips. “Was me that should-should’ve d-done something in the…in the first place.”
Legend’s eyes narrow. “What do you mean?”
Sky looks back down at his hands.
Another theory is beginning to form in Four’s mind now, joining with the previous one, enlarging it, and embellishing it until things start to make sense. A theory born out of something Sky has said before, a snippet he had overheard and tossed aside in favor of giving his full attention to fighting the Yiga that had taken Wild captive.
“I’m sorry, champion,” the Skyloftian had said as he had helped Warriors tend to the boy’s wounds. “I was late…again. I’m sorry.”
“You blame yourself.” Four measures the words carefully, speaking each one with intricate precision. Lest he step in the wrong place and cause them all to plummet. “You blame yourself for what happened to Twilight.”
Sky lifts his bloodshot eyes. A tear wells in one of them then spills over to slither gracefully down his cheek.
“Why would you blame yourself?” Legend asks, even as comprehension burns in his violet irises. “It’s not your fault the rancher got hit. You weren’t even near him when it happened!”
“I was near enough.” Sky’s voice is quieter than ever now, more like a whisper than anything else. “I know the skyward strike. I could’ve hit that…that thing if I’d been…b-been faster.” His breath hitches. But to Four it sounds defeated more than panicked. “I was late and he paid for it. I’m a-always…”
He curls in on himself, weighed down by exhaustion, shuddering with pain and sorrow. Legend looks at Four and Four looks at Legend. Then, slowly, together they reach out and draw Sky into their arms.
It’s strange. Four hadn’t taken Legend for someone willing to show physical affection freely. But he embraces the Skyloftian as though it is no price to pay. As though he has done so before.
Long nights. A shuddering sob. Soft feet dressed in boots with wings adorning their sides. Whispers in the dark that exhaustion muddles before Four can make them out. Amethyst eyes staring from over a hazy cloud of silken white. Sliding shut as a larger form huddles deeper into an embrace.
Sky shivers again and Legend holds him tighter.
“It’s not your fault,” Four murmurs, pouring every ounce of confidence he possesses into those words and praying that it is enough. “It’s not your fault, Sky. You did everything you could do for him. There’s nothing else you could have done.”
Sky doesn’t reply.
They hold him, whispering assurances, as his tears wet their tunics and his fatigued body quakes beneath the burden he forces it to carry. They hold him until, at last, in the murky darkness, surrounded by carcasses of monsters and piles of resting sand, he drifts off.
In the arms of his brothers.

⤷ gq couple interviews with nct dream
− ⌗ ft .∿ dream ot7 x reader
− ⌗ genre + warnings .∿ fluff + haechan think he’s #1 (spoiler he’s not) & someone please save jeno….
− ⌗ trin’s note .∿ I had this planed for another group but I’m lowkey too hyperfixated on nct soooo….(I blamed dream()scape). also if you never seen a gq couple quiz, here’s one of my favorite examples :)
Tumblr media
⤹ ⊹ MARK LEE
✶ mark would have extreme confidence that he would get all the questions correct. at most, maybe one or two questions wrong but he wouldn’t sulk it off, he would more than likely say, “I knew that” or “that was my second guess, I swear”
✶ weirdly enough, he would get the much deeper, or “harder”, questions correct more than the basic questions like what’s your middle name or what’s your favorite color
✶ for the deeper questions he gets correct, he would constantly answer, “see, I told you I knew you baby” with his lil smirk or a sly smile
✶ I think mark would almost always have a story attached majority of the questions you asked him. some are embarrassing, some have you giving a belly laugh, and some are sentimental. the sentimental ones, he’s holding eye contact with you, matching your smiles, and mouthing, ‘i love you’
✶ as for questions about him, he would let out an exaggerated sigh when you get them wrong. he would act so heartbroken and go on this dramatic ramble of how he thought his partner knew him
⤹ ⊹ HUANG RENJUN
✶ renjun is a shy lil thing for these types of interviews. quite nervous that he’ll get some wrong but confident enough that he’ll get most of them right. though, he does believe he’ll get more questions right than you will and he wasn’t wrong
✶ he would stand firm on the questions he got wrong that he thinks he got correct. he blames you that you never told him this information or that you’re a liar, sometimes side-eyes you before you say if he’s wrong or right. if he got it wrong, he would have hard evidence that he is correct and even state word for word on when you said the correct answer in the past
✶ as for questions about him, he would maybe allow bonus points. it depends on how many bonus questions you gave him, which would total how much or how little bonus points you get
✶ ngl, renjun can become a petty lil mf when it comes to his questions. he think it’s only right after the struggle you put him through answering some of those questions and fighting for his case
⤹ ⊹ LEE JENO
✶ slightly like mark and has extreme confidence that he’ll get every question right except….anyways ! it’s not that he’s an attentive bf (cause he is, trust !) but he’s truly shocked at how many he gets wrong. but at the same time, the ones he thinks he is wrong, he gets right ??? idk man. he knows who was your first best friend but doesn’t know your favorite meal…
✶ a lot of laughs are shared between the two of you cause it truly is funny at his reactions at whether or not he’s right. usually his jaw is dropped; if he’s right he nods his head in a slightly cocky manner but if he’s wrong, he shakes his head and curses himself
✶ but at the same time, you throw him some bonus points to help cause poor baby is not doing so good. in the end for the questions about you, he doesn’t do as bad but he believe that definitely isn’t his best and plans to be a better bf to you
✶ for questions about him, he assumes just about half the time that you won’t get this question right, and it could be the most basic questions anyone could easily answer. like why is mans shocked that you know his favorite artist and his favorite pastime…?
⤹ ⊹ LEE HAECHAN
✶ it turned from a cute quiz to a full blown competition. out of all of dream, his confidence is at an all time, always, when it comes to being the best boyfriend God can put on this earth. but oh do you have something planned for him
✶ haechan is more than a thousand percent confirmed that he’ll get all answers right and sits in his seat with such confidence. you roll your eyes and look through the questions as he continues to boast
✶ the questions were going good, ofc he was getting every single correct cause again, he’s the best (he prefers the term “perfect) you could ever have. until it’s questions that you may not know the answer to that starts to trip him. he thinks you’re pranking him, even after you assured him that you aren’t
✶ haechan would trip you up so you can forget the correct answers to your questions. a firm believer that haechan would sit in a certain position to have you gushing, you try to hide your smile while asking the question but it’s no use when he’s around
✶ though when it’s his turn to ask the question, he is absolutely terrible. he’ll throw in bonus questions to trip you up and when you get them wrong, he is so dramatic my goodness. he’s even worse than mark and think it’s the death of him that you don’t remember his comfort meal
⤹ ⊹ NA JAEMIN
✶ jaemin is actually mellow about his confidence for this couples quiz. he’s as confident as haechan but not nearly as bad as haechan can get. don’t get me wrong, he always assures that he’s the number one boyfriend material but thankfully know he’s not perfect
✶ I’d say out of all dream, jaemin would have I believe the third highest score. potentially a tie with renjun for second if he tries hard enough. he gets the easy and hard questions correct without breaking a sweat and sometimes throw in extra info for that question, just to show that he really is attentive
✶ throughout the quiz, he would blow air kisses and reach to grab your hand but you would think that he’s trying to cheat. which leads you to move it out of his reach and leaving him with a small pout
✶ another pouter on our hands guys ! he mostly pouts when he doesn’t get his bonus points or when you reject bonus points from him. no jaemin, you cannot get two bonus points just cause you named your partner’s dream career out of nowhere
✶ when it comes to jaemin’s questions, he is very nice about it and isn’t too harsh with the questions. though, he does throw some curveballs so prepared for that. he’ll go from what’s favorite movie to who’s the first person he talked to on the phone that day
⤹ ⊹ ZHONG CHENLE
✶ an actual comedy show when a couples quiz and chenle is combined. listen, he believes these questions doesn’t prove that he is a good boyfriend but he will do it just for the sake of you :p
✶ but at the same time, he will put on a game face and take this couples quiz veryyyy seriously. he refuses to even let a slim of doubt enter you just cause of a couple incorrect answers. I do believe as just as the amount of answers he gets correct, his ego gets stronger and you can tell from his stance
✶ though, (just like renjun) almost every answer he would get wrong, he would firmly believe that he is right. he’ll have you thinking that maybe YOU’RE the one with the wrong answer. he’ll do everything in his power to prove that he’s right and sometimes it gets a bit scary how hard he’s fighting for that point
✶ I would say that his score is pretty decent but he definitely could have done better. though after the interview, he’s still stuck on the questions he got wrong. cause wym your favorite ice cream isn’t cookies n cream ???? he literally saw you eat it last week
✶ now chenle giving you the questions….be prepared for a lot of sass, a lot of dramatic signs, and a lot of ‘I thought my partner knew me better mmcht’
⤹ ⊹ PARK JISUNG
✶ literally the best and most perfect companion for this quiz (yes I’m being biased, sue me). the man who would score the highest out of all seven boys but still keep a humble posture throughout the quiz. he blushes after you praise him for the amount he gets correct, which is all ofc :)
✶ sometimes he’ll be specific for certain questions, even after you told him he can keep it vague. he’ll go into detail of how your morning routine is set or little signs to show that you’re not in a talkative mood at the moment
✶ deeper questions are the ones that he is the most confident in, he mentally prepared himself for these type of questions. he’ll give reasons as to why you dislike this food or how you have a heavy distaste towards sports. starting to think it’s just jisung’s excuse to ramble about you
✶ as mentioned before, jisung isn’t as cocky as the members but internally, he knows he got this quiz in the bag. he stays humble and gushes on how much he got right
✶ for questions about himself, he’s one hundred percent sure that you’ll get majority correct. but he isn’t worked up if you were to get them wrong; instead, he lets a lighthearted ‘tsk’ and tells you the correct answer. he also reassures you that you still are a good partner to him, no matter how many you have gotten wrong :)
Tumblr media
౨ৎ honestly shocked on how little time this took but I’m really happy with how it came out :)
౨ৎ lemme know if you guys want a 127 and/or wayv version of these hcs 😋
kisses to you all and God bless you 💗

I think I finally understand why Bloodweave hits me so hard and why I love it so much… them being sort of narratively paired together, aside.
Gale is just a relatively normal looking dude. Astarion is like a fantasy poster child. I love their banters, like Astarion saying he enjoys their walks together, and Gale saying “count me in! I’m enjoying chaos now!” when Astarion says he wants to get up to some good ol’ DEBAUCHERY. It’s like. The perfect balance of Astarion’s influence on Gale with Gale being the most just like. Loving kind guy that Astarion needs.

For the word game: warmth + LU
💖💖💖💖
Legend shudders as he scoots closer to the fire, hands hovering mere inches from the flames. Despite the fact that he’s so close to it, the warmth of the fire does absolutely nothing to dislodge the cold settled in his bones.
“Careful, there, you’ll lose your fingers,” Time comments.
“I wouldn’t notice, anyway, I can’t feel them,” Legend complains.
“You would notice the next time you had to reach for a sword.”
“Guess I’ll die, then,” Legend grumbles, and Time just shakes his head.

Whumptober Day 23: Shadows, “it’s gonna get me by the end of the night”
This one is kinda creepy again but. Well. That comes with the territory of dead hands...
Read on ao3
Warnings: blood, injury, uhhh lots of creepiness, being attacked by a monster in a kind of disturbing way
————————————————————
There was something in here with them.
Wild swallowed, looking around. He couldn’t say how he knew they weren’t alone, but the prickling on the back of his neck seemed to indicate a presence, one that wasn’t him or Wind. The problem was, the area itself was full of long shadows with barely a torch to fend them off with, and Wild looked nervously back at the stairs they’d recently descended.
He already wasn’t exactly the most fond of being underground, and he had a bad feeling.
“Aw man, a creepy basement,” Wind said with a groan. “Why do these places always have creepy basements?!”
“Beats me,” Wild said with an amused smile. It seemed like the complaint was mostly to hide what seemed to be Wind’s nervousness, as he was standing rather close to Wild’s side, and giving the darkness an anxious look.
“Maybe it’s a style thing,” Wild said thoughtfully. “Like, they build these or whatever, and one guy goes ‘hey you know what would be great right here? A creepy basement. Would really tie the whole dungeon together.’”
Wind laughed, and looked much less nervous as he looked out at the shadows again. Wild glanced at them as well, and squinted as his eye caught on something. Had something moved over there?
He really hoped not.
“Well, there are such things as non-creepy basements. I mean, Twilight’s basement isn’t creepy,” Wind said with a little grin, and Wild checked back into what he was saying. “Though it is full of junk. My grandma would say that’s scarier.”
Wild snorted as he and Wind began to walk into the room, feeling their way around walls, pausing to look around when they reached a torch. Wild pulled out an old branch he had and lit it, and after that, finding their way around the room was much easier.
It turned out to be what Wind said was a puzzle room, the two finding a suspicious platform, and a switch tucked in a dark corner. Pushing a block over to push it down didn’t make anything happen, but as they glanced around the area, Wild noticed some etching on the wall.
“There must be more switches we have to push,” Wind said thoughtfully. “Or else something would’ve happened.”
“There’s marks along the edge here,” Wild pointed out, pointing to four squares etched on the wall. One was filled in, and he and Wind both sighed as they realized there were three more switches to find.
“Guess we better get going.”
They continued through the shadowy maze, though as time went on and nothing jumped out at them, Wild’s uneasy feeling began to lighten. It seemed like the only thing to impede their progress was the confusing room and lack of light, and Wild was used to that. He’d done three labyrinths, after all.
No monsters appeared from the shadows to bother them as he and Wind located and pressed down two more switches, though Wild’s makeshift torch was nearly all the way burnt up by the time they found them both.
“Only one more!” Wind said cheerfully, and Wild smiled as they reached another hallway. “And that’s the only direction we haven’t gone yet, so it’s gotta be this way!”
“Good, then we can get out of here,” Wild said with another glance at the ceiling. He still didn’t like being underneath so many levels of dungeon and earth. It made him nervous.
Wind nodded, then his face took on a mischievous look.
“Race you there Wild!” he said with a grin, then before Wild could say a thing, he bolted off down the hallway and into the darkness.
“Hey— Sailor! Wait up!” Wild shouted, but Wind had already disappeared into the shadows.
Wild huffed, and bolted after him, though he did slow and peer nervously around walls and pillars. The air seemed colder this direction, a chill tricking down his spine, and Wild swallowed. The sense that they weren’t alone had gotten more intense again, and he suddenly had a very bad feeling about all of this.
“Wind? Sailor, I think we should stick together!” he called, but received no reply except for his own echo.
...Had Wind really gotten out of earshot already?
Wild sped up a little, trying to watch his steps, but also catch up to Wind. He had to be around here somewhere, this area wasn’t that big.
Or at least, not the parts they’d been to already.
Wild turned a corner and found what seemed like a wide-open space, lit by nothing but a single torch next to where he stood. Right as he took a step forward, his stick finally burnt up, and Wild gulped.
He braced himself, and moved forward into the darkness, trying to calm his thudding heart.
There hasn’t been anything in here yet. There’s probably nothing here, and it’s only my imagination because being underground sucks—
Something let out a muffled shriek.
Wild jumped and whirled towards the noise, near instantly drawing a guardian sword he had in his inventory. The sword let out just enough of a glow for him to see a little ahead, and Wild cautiously moved forward, sword held high.
The floor had turned from stone to dirt at some point, and Wild’s footsteps were near soundless as he padded across it. Something crunched under his foot, and Wild looked down, an even bigger sense of foreboding rising in his throat as he stared at the bones he’d stepped on.
“Wind?” he called softly, afraid to speak too loud.
Something grabbed his ankle.
Wild shouted in surprise as whatever it was dug in, and before he could slash at it, another grabbed his other leg and knocked him to the ground.
He got an arm up and slashed at what he could see were pale hands on horribly long arms, bloodstained nails scrabbling at his boots. Wild managed to cut away the hands, but right as he scrambled to his feet, he heard something moving, right next to him.
He turned around, and almost dropped his sword.
A pale, bulbous creature stared at him, eyes dark holes, mouth opened impossibly wide as it grinned at him with bloodstained teeth. Wild couldn’t help but let out a horrified cry as it began to slither forward, and he felt a sudden urge to be sick.
What god decided such a horrible creature should even exist?
Wild backtracked so quickly he nearly tripped over his cape, but strangely enough the creature didn’t turn to him. It veered to the side, and as Wild regained his senses enough to go after it, he saw two eyes catch the light from his sword.
He turned, and met Wind’s frantic gaze.
The sailor was being held up by multiple of the same arms that had grabbed him, a hand covering his mouth. His eyes were wide with horror, and he was scrabbling frantically at the hand over his mouth, but more arms were holding him tightly in place, and all he could do was let out a muffled cry as he saw Wild.
Wild felt a burst of anger and jumped forward, slicing at the hands, but as soon as he chopped one, another two took their place. He’d lost sight of the main body in the shadows somewhere, but he was focused solely on Wind, slicing even more frantically when he saw the blood on his shoulder.
Had that thing bitten him?
He managed to slice away most of the hands holding Wind’s body in place, and the sailor fell to the ground with a cry. But before Wild could go to him, a hand tangled itself in his cape, and Wild cried out as he fell to the dirt as well, more hands near instantly grabbing him.
They pinned him down, grasping at his face and clothes, and Wild clung desperately to his weapon. He knew if he dropped it he’d have almost no chance of getting it back.
But the hands had figured him out, and they squeezed his wrist, clawing at his hand, and Wild physically couldn’t hold onto the blade any longer. The guardian sword fell to the dirt, and Wild felt more hands come up and grab him, no matter how he struggled.
A burrowing noise sounded out, and Wild looked over in terror as the fleshy body crawled out of the dirt, that horrifyingly long neck turning in his direction.
He was it’s target now.
“Wi—!” he screamed, but then a hand covered his mouth, and all he could do was thrash in silence as the monster slithered nearer and nearer.
A hand turned his face towards it, and Wild breathed quickly through his nose, nearly gagging at the smell of decay and blood that came from the hands on his face. They tilted him up as the head of the main body drew near, lit an eerie blue by his dropped sword. Wild couldn’t help his whimper as the face leaned down, its jaws opening impossibly wide.
And then it bit down on the side of his face.
Wild screamed, the sound muffled by the hands still covering his mouth as fiery pain made his vision spotty, the feel of the monster biting down on him nothing short of horrific. The seconds seemed to stretch on endlessly as it continued to gnaw, sucking up his blood, and Wild was nearly sick as it made a particularly satisfied noise.
Somehow the fact that the monster was actively feeding on him, biting him, attacking him only to satiate some kind of awful hunger, made it twice as worse.
All he was was prey to it.
Wild let out a muffled sob as he thrashed again, but the hands only held him more firmly, a hand holding his cheek in a way that would almost have been loving from anything else. Pain and revulsion were making his head spin, and Wild squeezed his eyes shut, tears gathering in the corners.
And then he heard an angry yell.
Suddenly the pressure on his face was gone, and Wild heard another shout, catching sight of Wind throwing himself forward, his face pale but expression furious.
“Stop chewing on my brother!” The sailor screamed, then twisted himself around into a huge spin attack that Wild could barely watch. The wind it kicked up buffeted Wild’s face like a hurricane, and the hands still grasping him let go, dropping Wild to the ground with a groan.
An awful moaning sound rent the air, and Wild watched through the blood dripping down his face as Wind hit the main body of the monster once, twice, three— so many times he couldn’t keep track of the number.
But Wind finally stopped, holding a hand to his head as he stumbled, and the body of the monster fell to the ground.
Wind was suddenly at his side, grabbing his shoulder, and they watched in silence as the monster twitched slightly, then disappeared into dark smoke along with all of the arms.
For a moment, the only sound in the room was of Wind and Wild’s heavy breathing.
“I-I think... I think it’s gone,” Wind said finally, his voice shaking, and Wild gripped his arm, unsure if he or Wind was the one trembling.
“Yeah,” Wild choked out, and Wind turned to him, immediately leaning in to look at his face.
“Oh no, ohh— Wild I’m so sorry I couldn’t get to you faster,” Wind gasped, and Wild shook his head, closing his one eye as blood threatened to drip into it.
“Y-you couldn’t have...” Wild got out, and Wind turned to rifle through his bag, his movements frantic. “...Sailor?”
Wind had made a noise that sounded suspiciously like a sniffle, and Wild reached over to squeeze his hand, Wind shakily gripping it back.
Neither of them said anything for a moment, and Wind leaned up against Wild’s shoulder, Wind leaning back as they finished catching their breath.
“...That was worse then redeads,” Wind said finally, looking away, and Wild felt his eyes sting a little at the memory of the monster’s endless hands, it’s horrible main body and how it bitten down on them both...
It truly had been awful.
“I’ve never seen a redead, but based on th-the name... I don’t ever w-want to. Are they l-like... dead twice over..?” Wild asked, and Wind looked at him, eyes shiny in the light of Wild’s sword, blood still trickling down his shoulder.
Then he let out a wet laugh, and pulled out a bottle with some kind of potion in it, swiping a hand over his eyes.
“Something like that,” Wind said thickly, and Wild pressed the side of his head that wasn’t a mess against Wind’s. He breathed out, and focused on Wind’s warm skin against his, not cold, not undead, not trying to devour him.
“Thanks sailor,” he said in a wavering voice, and Wind made another noise that Wild pointedly ignored, squeezing Wind’s hand.
“Thank you too,” Wind whispered back.

Other Writers Appreciation
Alright, here we go again! Now that I've shared my own writing, time to pick on some other people in the GW2 community!
We've got my friend @accidentallyadorable, also known as casualloveroflesbians, also known as the person who wrote a truly terrifying amount of Kasjory fic! As in literally they are half of the tag; I've highlighted my favorites here. She's written a whole bunch of other good stuff too (including very spicy stuff I've heard is quite effective but am too asexual to judge myself) with a variety of different canon characters, so I would honestly recommend just going through his backlog and picking whatever you like - it will last you a while. We've got my other friends @dualumina and their ongoing Zommoros/Miyani fics that I always look forward to (and they will also answer your comments with giant infodumps, which is always fun.) And my other other friend @commanderkenegalle (Deathicus_Sling) who wrote the best Trahearne and best Trammander I've ever read here - it will hurt you and it should. @fireskarr(Skarrfics) wrote an excellent Mai-Trin-lives Wintersday fic here. @draw-you-coward (WingsOfTime) has a writing style I adore and if you're into Canach and Trammander you'll probably love all their stuff, but here are my favorites.
People I only know on Ao3: if you want charr/human romance Mimiga has a series for you, which also has an awesome plot and a cool dervish character! The new ongoing entry is wonderful and their oneshot with Joon and Kuunavang discussing Soo-Won's demise has incredible characterization. Teratornis's slice-of-life Canthan oneshot is funny and features great descriptions. Endothyme has a fantastic classic messed up Mai Trin here. sparxwrites's tumblr seems to have vanished, but they wrote a terrifying Countess Anise here. And if you love OC stuff, Nibswrites and antelopunny have such a wide variety of characters that you'll probably find something even if you skim these two.
And if you just want ABSOLUTE CRACK: here, here, and here.
Again, feel free to reblog and spread this with your favorite writers attached, GW2 or not, whether you got tagged or not! Fanfic writers do not get enough appreciation for all the wonderful work they do.

Admiring her letterwork.
Also known as, I added a teeny bit of Traylink (the name of her camp mini settlement) lore to her bedroom wall, because she absolutely would.

@kikker-oma happy belated birthday!!! Sorry it took so long for me to finish this! But I hope it proves worth the wait <333 (Also I hope you don’t mind some whump)
CW for blood and injury, vomiting, a panic attack, and a cave-in (be careful if you’re claustrophobic)
————————————-
In the wake of the explosion, Sky feels nothing. There is a high-pitched ring in his ears, spots in his vision, warm, sticky blood trickling from his nose. But no pain.
Until there is.
It hits like a claymore, cleaving through the half-consciousness he has clung to thus far. And the next thing he knows, he’s jerking upward, gasping. Only, he can’t sit upright at all.
His mind screams the panicked order, his muscles attempt it, but a weak, agonizing twitch is all he manages. Something is holding him down, something massive and heavy. His chest struggles to rise beneath its constant compression.
Sky blinks again, squinting past the tiny eruptions of light and the dust that floats, thick and suffocating in the air around him. There is nothing much to see in the endless darkness. But he can make out jagged shapes, blocky forms, the outlines of sand-covered objects.
Caging him in. Holding him down.
He’s pinned, he realizes with a streak of mind-numbing terror. And suddenly, what little air he had managed to drag in turns to nothing at all. He gasps, eyes blowing wide, as he thrashes.
Or attempts to. All he manages is to bring on a fresh onslaught of dizzying agony. It strikes through to his very bones, sending sharp pricks of static dancing before his eyes and crawling up the back of his head. And for a split second, everything goes a striking shade of black.
Then, he’s breaching the surface once more, too soon, much too soon, skyrocketing back into a world of pain and suffocation.
Sky coughs, choking on blood and tears. He has never really considered himself claustrophobic, but this experience might just change that assumption. Of all the ways to die…
But you’re not, he berates himself. You’re not dead yet, so think, think. Figure out a way to survive.
He can’t reach his pouch. The rubble piled beside him makes certain of that. It presses against him, crushing his side and tugging at the hem of his sailcloth. But if he can move it just a bit…
Trembling hands press to its jagged surface. With a sharp intake of breath, Sky steels himself and pushes.
Something shifts and for a split second, Sky dares to hope that maybe, just maybe he can get free. But then, the rubble on his lower half crawls sideways with the rest. And Sky screams.
The nauseating numbness that had begun to take root vanishes, replaced with the absolute agony that splits through his legs. He turns his head to the side and chokes up bile.
That one moment seems to last forever, pain dancing along his body endlessly. He lies there, limp and gasping, gazing at the blurred splotches his vision has been reduced to. And the waves wash over him, stealing the air from his lungs and turning his thoughts into incomprehensible things.
Needles streak up his neck, bringing with them unnatural heat. His eyelids flutter, eyes preparing to roll back in his head and plunge him back into the painless deep.
“Sky!”
A hand finds his, desperate in the way it grasps at him. Sky inhales sharply, jolting back into some semblance of awareness.
He had thought no other heroes were near the blast. He had thought they were all clear of the area. So, why…
Wait.
Memories crash back into his mind like waves on the sea. Memories of a building crumbling behind him and a boy by his side, running, running away from the collapse, away from certain death. Memories of the fiery knowledge that had situated itself firmly in Sky’s gut, the knowledge that he must protect him, protect the hero who came after him.
Protect the hero who was the first to feel the brunt of his failures, no matter the cost.
His hands fly out on instinct to shove the small figure in front of him through the doorway. Echoes of a terrified voice in his mind as he leaps, meaning to follow, wanting to.
Only for darkness to catch him before he can.
Four. Sky’s breath hitches, a sob of relief and agony catching in his throat. Four is here with him. Four is alive.
And he came back.
“Sky, can you hear me?”
The Skyloftian focuses all his strength. Weakly, he squeezes Four’s hand. The smithy blows out an audible sigh of relief.
“Thank the goddesses. We’re gonna get you free, okay? We just need a minute. If we move anything now…”
Though he trails off, the words left unspoken weigh on the Skyloftian even more heavily than the rubble. He drags in a thin gasp, swallowing against the growing lump in his throat.
“But I need you to stay awake until we can get you out,” Four continues, forcing a lighter tone into his voice. “Can you do that?”
“Yes,” is what Sky means to say. “Hurts,” is the croaked cry that comes out.
Four’s grip tightens. “I know, Sky. I’m-I’m sorry.”
Sky closes his eyes. The darkness there is safer, more comfortable than the dusky dimness floating around him.
“Not your fa-fault.”
“You shouldn’t have pushed me.” The voice is grim and drenched in guilt. Though it aims to sound accusatory, Sky feels that it hardly meets the mark. “‘There was time. We could’ve both gotten out. We could’ve…”
“K-kept you safe.” It is hardly a croak. The word burns in his throat. “Smithy…I w-wanted to…”
He drags his eyes open, stares into the expanse of floating nothingness. He still can’t breathe.
“It’s the least I…could do.”
Four is silent for a long moment. Then, his fingers constrict just slightly. Their warmth is welcome in a world of cold darkness.
“You’re going to get out of there, Sky,” he murmurs and there is something in his tone that Sky cannot identify. Maybe he could if he wasn’t so tired. Far more than usual in fact. This exhaustion drags him down like a leaden weight, pulling at the remaining scraps of consciousness.
“Just hold on,” the smithy says, and Sky pushes back against the endless deep.
Hold on.
He can do that. He can…
“T-tell me about y-your Hyrule,” he croaks.
And Four does. The smithy has many secrets, perhaps, even as much as the old man, and yet, he tells him. Of his grandfather, of Dot, of his home and his world and the tiny creatures known as Minish.
Sky clings to every word that tells him more about the hero who followed after him and the land he fought to protect. He clings to the sound of his voice, the warmth of his fingers, the painting he paints of his life…until his brothers come.
And then, finally, finally, the world is opening back up and the sunlight is streaming in and he can drag in thin gasps of fresh air and…and Four is right there, still holding his hand but gazing down at him now. Concern gleams in his multicolored irises.
Sky offers him a weak smile. “‘M okay now, smithy,” he murmurs, every word agony. “T-thanks for…for staying.”
Four’s face splits into a grin. A teary one, but an expression of joy nonetheless. “I’ll always stay. It’s the least I can do for the person who paved the way.”
There is respect in those words, Sky realizes dimly. Respect and something else…A connection, perhaps, that is stronger even than their bond of brotherhood.
He deserves neither.
But as he lets his eyes slip shut, as the voices of his family swell around him and arms lift him with a gentleness that belies their strength…he is glad to know about their place in the timeline. He understands the look in Time’s eye a little better now, when he gazes upon Twilight.
He is proud of his successor too.

a quiet breeze, gentle on the exposed skin of you and the blonde sitting next to you. his feet dangle above the building as does yours, the sun setting gives off hues of purple, pink, and orange, a tint of red to add on to it. the beautiful hues spread through the sky and give a significant glow to the both of you, but the moonlight that comes after truly shines the two of you beautiful skin.
you dance your fingers on the gravel next to you, leisurely making its way towards felix. he notices and brings his fingers closer to yours, letting them dance as they grace your fingertips. he takes a hold of your pinky with his pinky, pulling it up from the gravel and landing on his chest. he kisses it and smiles at you as he does, you face contorts to an expression of bashfulness.
you turned your body to the point where you’re no longer on the edge of the rooftop but instead sitting criss-cross with your face facing his side. felix does the same but doesn’t let go of your pinky, he holds on to it and swings it once he is facing you as well.
the hues that the sunset gives is no longer there and instead replaced with a shade of deep blue and the moon that radiates along with the stars that surround it. felix points to a star, then another star. he names the star after the two of you and explains, “when the world ends and our time on earth is finished, I want us to be reborn as the two stars. I want us to become our stars in the sky.”
a soft smile is placed on your face, you respond back, “do you think our love can last forever? even after the world is gone and there’s nothing but…nothing?”
felix scoots closer, the hold on your pinky is gone but quickly replaced with his hand intertwining with yours. he answers, “we could be the only two humans that float around in space and I still would love you. when I said I love you, I meant nothing but love. a love that brings you joy, one that lets me be your comfort, be the lover that you could dream of. on my last breath, I would tell you that I love you. does that satisfy you, my love?”
his pronunciation of “my love” brings your heart to a quick beating and the smile he gives you makes your face slightly burning. the two words have your cheeks raised and cannot hide the answer felix wanted. his smile grows and caress your knuckles with his thumb.
though, it satisfies something inside you, it mellows your heart in a way that says, “this kind of love can last me forever”. though, you both don’t know how long will forever last, it could be this night or could be seventy years from now when gray hairs and wrinkly skin covers your entire body. but who’s to say that this love has an end date?
you pull yourself closer to the blonde boy, you plant a kiss on both of his cheeks then another on his nose. “I can and will love you forever. does that satisfy you?”
he gives you a small laugh, “I asked first n/n.”
you playfully roll your eyes, “I wish I could frame this moment and stare at it forever, but yes I’m satisfied lixie.”
“just let it be framed and kept it in your heart my love.” felix lightly kisses your knuckles, “I love you.”
“I love you”

Ooh ooh please tell me more about your history of lorule! This is the first I’ve heard of that au and I’m very interested!!
Okay! *flutters in panic*
So I gave a brief overview response here and i'm gonna tag the couple posts i've made here and there under 'tellie's history of lorule' and 'the saga of hilda'.
Umm...
So there are a couple versions (aus of my au ahaha), depending on Game Canon or LU verse, and mostly what I have at the moment is the LU version (so there will eventually be a couple extra Ravios than the ones I'm about to list). I also have their adventures planned out (though i'm still tweaking things here and there). (i also have ships planned out. it's uh. 90% hildavio because it's like zelink but the dark chocolate version). I'm also working on figuring out all the Hilda's characters! They're taking a bit longer but I can answer some basic facts about each of them.
But! For the LU version, we have a group of Ravios being dragged back and forth through time and space for... some reason... still need to figure that part out. But our groups are *drumroll*
The Hero of the Sea! (skyward sword)
The Hero of One! (mc/fs/fsa)
The Hero of Ages! (oot/mm)
The Hero of Myth! (alttp/ooa/oos/la/albw, declined invitation to tfh)
The Hero of Sol! (TP)
The Hero of Flame! (ww/ph/??st??)
The Hero of Magic! (aol) (!!!Spell's counterpart!!!)
The Hero of Lorule! (loz/aol)
The Hero of Swords! (hw)
and rounding off with
The Hero of the Realm! (botw/assuming totk as well)
If you have any questions about any of the boys, their Hildas, etc. please send me an ask, I would love to answer!

Happy Birthday, Leon Adamos!
So... it's Leon's birthday, so I wanted to say happy birthday to him!
NOTE: Leon isn't my oc, he's Trin's baby!
Tagging: @chuuyas-beloved @aether-wasteland-s (here's some Chairo content too!)
Words: 1,282
Chairo stared at the phone in his hand for a long while, brows furrowed, before he gave up on trying to think of what to say, throwing it onto the couch in frustration. His girlfriend, Amber, had been watching him for a while and upon seeing him so frustrated, she stepped forwards until she was behind Chairo, arms wrapped around his shoulders in an embrace.
"Come on, Leon is your brother. How hard can I be to just give him a call?" She shook her head as she placed a kiss to the top of his head, voice gentle and curious as she speaks to him. "You're so close, it could never be awkward between you. In fact, I bet he's been wanting to call you for a long time as well. But you're the older brother, so man up, yeah?" She teased lightly, nudging him with her hip, squeezing his shoulders lightly.
Upon her words, the red-haired man huffed and rolled his eyes, leaning back into Amber's arms, shaking his head. "It's not as easy as that. Not after everything. We haven't spoke since everything with Evelyn and Rose died down. I still think him and Killian are upset with the fact that... you know, that Rose didn't mind me, but when they tried to hug him, he... well, you know what happened." He shook himself from her arms, but turned his body around so he could hug her, hiding his face in her chest for a moment, comforted by her warmth. "And we've got our own problems to deal with, you know the police still aren't leaving me alone because they want to find out what happened to Robyn and Dee. I was the last person to speak to Robyn. I bet they think I killed him."
Amber's shoulders slumped as she listened to his worries, trying to think of a way to help him ease his mind. But in the end, she still thought that talking to his baby brother would help him more than she could. Leon always did know him better than anyone, just as she hoped that Leon knew Chairo the best. After all, he still refused to tell her about the agony in his heart, so she at least hoped that someone knew some of it, so Chairo didn't have to suffer alone. But Chairo was right. Leon had so much going on as well, trying to help his friend recover from the trauma of when he was kidnapped. He probably thought that if he spoke to Leon, he'd end up telling him about his troubles and therefore, 'burden' him with even more things to worry about.
She guided him down to sit on the couch with him, holding his phone in her lap. "I bet Leon would be even more upset if he finds out from someone else that you've been going through so much. You need to speak to him, Chai. Even if you just call him to say hi. You're brothers, you can't let a rift grow between you. You've always been close. Don't let your relationship fail just because you're both going through a hard time." She spoke softly, choosing not to bring up the matter of Robyn and Dee, even though Chairo mentioned them first. She never knew either of them, so she didn't feel it was her place to talk about either of them.
Chairo sighed and stood up, running a hand through his hair. Amber noticed that he always grew more restless when he stressed, pacing around, unable to calm down. He stood in silence for a while, before disappearing into kitchen. Amber could hear him just walking around aimlessly, trying to think of something to do to distract himself and she knew that it was for the best to leave him to it. If he walked away by himself, he obviously wanted to be alone for a while, and she respected that. She smiled when she saw Chairo come back a few minutes later, two cups of coffee in his hands, one for her, and one for himself. Chairo didn't even like coffee.
She shook her head and kissed his cheek when he sat down next to her once more, hands going to gently trace at the small scars on his arms, kissing each one gently to reassure him, holding him, letting him talk when he's ready. She moved onto his other arm, kissing the scars there, lifting her head up when she finally heard him talk. "It's his birthday soon. We... we should definitely talk..." he sounded nervous and extremely uncertain, but Amber nodded, squeezing him closer, gently encouraging him.
So he stood up quickly, leaving his coffee untouched and grabbed his phone from the coffee table. He smiled shakily at Amber and left the room, slowly making his way upstairs to call his little brother. His fingers shook slightly as he clicked on Leon's contact, frowning as he looked down at his hands. They never used to shake before, but recently, they hadn't stopped.
Leon answered almost immediately, his youthful voice now sounding extremely tired. They were both stressed, both exhausted. "Hey, Chairo? Is everything alright?" It sounded like he didn't know what to say and was quickly thinking of an idea for the right thing to say. It seemed that they were both stuck in the same situation.
Chairo frowned as he leant back on his bed, where he was currently sat. He considered hanging up, but he knew that it would only make Leon worry more and make him wonder if he did something wrong. He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair again, finally releasing it from his tight ponytail. Trying to get his words out were even harder than normal, and he was completely lost. Still, he rambled out what he could, not caring how awkward it sounded. "Listen, Le. I know we haven't spoken in a long time, and things have been awkward between us, but... I don't know why. And I don't think it matters anymore. Can we just go back to normal? Please?"
Leon was stunned as he listened, laughing lightly in surprise. Chairo could imagine the look of disbelief on his face as he heard his brother's random words. He smiled as he spoke, voice light. "What are you even talking about? Chairo. There's nothing wrong between us, it's fine. We're okay. I'm sorry, we've just been busy, that's all. But if that's what you want, we'll go back to normal, don't worry. I promise."
It didn't feel right for Leon to comfort him and Chairo needed a few seconds to gather himself, frowning. So he was the only one who thought something was wrong? He felt relieved, but also so foolish. How could he think that something was wrong? Leon was Leon, of course he'd open up if he was upset. Chairo couldn't help but laugh. "I'm sorry, Le. I sound like a psycho right now. Anyway... it's your birthday soon, right? I was thinking... we could meet up soon, right? I'm sure we have a lot to talk about."
He could feel Leon nod vigorously on the other line, smiling to himself. "How about next week? Why don't we meet up on... the 29th? You can stay over for my birthday too, but the 29th can be reserved for us to to just talk, right?" Chairo nodded to himself, looking down at the floor with a smile. "It sounds perfect. I'll see you, then. We can talk then. S'agapo, Leon. I'll see you soon."
Leon grinned as he heard Chairo, shaking his head with a hum. "Te amo, hermano." Was his soft response.

Run for the wip game? <33
I don’t have “run” but I do have “running,” so I’ll use that to compensate you 😭
“Please…don’t feel ashamed.” He says softly, running a hand through Legend’s hair. “You’re still sick and exhausted out of your mind, so this is going to feel like a dream, but when you’ve recovered, you’re going to regret the vulnerability. But I need you to try and push past that. This is not something to be ashamed of, and embarrassment is an occupational hazard. The only way through it is forward, and you’ll be better off after this. Plus, that shame will ultimately stew into some other breakdown, so you might as well get ahead of yourself and accept that we are still Hylian, too. And I speak from experience.”
He realizes Legend hasn’t hiccuped for a minute, and looks down at the boy cradles in his arms, completely limp. His breathing is soft and even: he’s fallen asleep. Warriors sighs, relieved and resigned.
“Well…I hope you at least heard some of that.” And he settles in for a long shift as Legend’s pillow.
