Bound Blood (Cassandra Dimitrescu/Reader, Soulmate AU) Pt. 4
Fandom: Resident Evil: Village Rating: T+ for language, nudity (but, like, for art), and violence Warnings: Unhealthy dynamics, including violence between the shipped pair, leaning heavily into the "enemies" part of "enemies to friends to lovers" Summary: Local vampire discusses art, depictions of certain anatomy, and enjoys the company of her feral soulmate for 4.5 minutes. Then it goes to shit (as things tend to do). 0-60 Real goddamn quick. Previous Chapters: 1: Sharing Is (Not) Caring; 2: Bloodbath, Baby!, 3: Haunt Me Dearly
4: Portraits For Ghosts
“Am I really supposed to just… stay here? Did she honestly think that I, of all people, would behave? The universe gave me two good hands, and by God, I intend to make that someone else’s problem,” you mutter to yourself as you get dressed. It’s not that you necessarily had anything in mind, rather that you hated the idea of waiting around for who knows how long for Cassandra to return. Especially considering what she had done prior to leaving. Sure, you had laughed, but that hadn’t meant much in the end. At this point, you hadn’t even been out of the dungeon for a full day yet, and the memories of what happened there were fresh in your mind. Nightmares, too, even if you had pushed them aside to deal with Cassandra’s. Why did I bother? You wonder, frowning. There was hardly any point to comforting a monster, no matter the way they trembled.
Or at least that’s the lie you sold yourself.
Soon enough, a knock at the door brings you out of your head. Daphne, maybe, you think, remembering the maiden from yesterday. When you open the door, however, you’re met with an unfamiliar woman. She’s a few years your senior, at the very least, and appears surprised to see you. In her hands is a very enticing tray of food.
“Lady Cassandra wanted me to bring this to you. I am… I am glad to see you are feeling better already,” she says, voice shaking. What was with these maidens and assuming you were anything like your soulmate? Though that last part did catch your interest. Something told you that she wasn’t at all referring to your time in the dungeon. If you had learned anything from Daphne, it was that the best way to get information was to be indirect. So you graciously accepted the food, before speaking, dodging your way around your ignorance.
“Yes, it’s amazing what a bit of meditating can do for the soul- and body, that is,” you start, watching closely for any veiled reactions. Even within the first few words you can tell that this stranger wasn’t expecting you to be pleasant. “Out of curiosity, what did my Lady say about my condition? There are, uh, a few details that I hope she did not share. I’m sure you understand.” As soon as the words leave your mouth, the maiden is nodding, appearing eager to satisfy you. Maybe a hint of fear can be useful, after all.
“No worries, Lady Cassandra did well to respect your privacy, and we would not dare question her further. She simply explained, to her family, that you were dealing with a migraine. I only heard this because I was helping serve breakfast,” she explained, smiling softly. You’re quick to nod, mimicking her expression for maximum empathy. “Do you require anything else? I am here to serve, you must only ask.” Ah, perfect. Would she have offered this even if you hadn’t attempted to be charming? Probably, but your politeness certainly didn't hurt.
“Well, there is one thing… as long as it’s no trouble.”
---------------------------
It had been a risk, asking the servant to take you to a room you weren’t sure existed, but one that had paid off brilliantly. Even if said room was nothing like you had anticipated. Who would have thought that Cassandra, you think, would be an artist? What’s far less surprising is the fact that the studio (or ‘study’, as you had called it) is a disorganized disaster. Discarded papers lie scattered around an overflowing trash can, a cabinet with an attached tool rack is missing pieces, and in one corner there are literally random shards of broken glass lying about. What is this, performance art? Part of you feels tempted to clean up the mess, if only to occupy your time. Instead, you decide to examine some of the pieces within the room. Maybe somehow they’d tell you something noteworthy about your soulmate.
First, you move to your left, where a workbench houses strange sculptures. For the most part they’re abstract, jagged edges contrasting with gentle curves, but there is one you think you understand. It’s very clearly a bust… of someone’s ‘bust’. Guess that solves the age old question of ‘boobs or ass’, you think, stifling a giggle. Moving on, you shift your attention to the exposed section of the cabinet. One row is dedicated to small vials, each labeled with a concerning ‘blood’, despite the fact that it’s clearly not refrigerated. Still, you have heard of artists painting with blood before, but you seem to recall them mixing it with something else. Perhaps Cassandra had done the same? Though you did wonder if she had any difficulty resisting the urge to drink the blood, at least prior to mixing it.
Shrugging, you continue to the other side of the studio, squatting to get a closer look at the broken glass. As expected, there’s no discernable pattern or purpose. Huh, you think, wonder why she doesn’t clean up. Maybe she’s waiting for a servant to do it? Guessing her reasoning was rather difficult, especially considering your lack of context, such as how long the mess had been here. Deciding that this was a pointless distraction, you move on to the only other thing of note in the room: An easel, in the center, with a canvas nearly as tall as yourself. So far, there’s little on it other than pencil lines, a sketch marking where to paint certain details. Only the (start of) the background has been colored. Understandably, it’s hard to make out what exactly the finished project would end up representing. Based on what you know of Cassandra and her family, however, you infer that this- with four figures, one larger than the others, protective- is a painting of the castle residents.
“Family means something to you, hmm?... I hope that mine does not miss me much, for I will never see them again,” you say to yourself, instinctively reaching out towards the art. Before you can touch it, or think better of it, the door to the studio is flying open. In storms Cassandra, fists clenched at her sides. As soon as she sees you, she’s rushing forward, pulling you away from the easel. “Hello, darling. Glad to see me feeling better, yes?” You teased, smiling wide at her. Feeling a bit emboldened by your earlier success, you go a step further, leaning in to give her a quick kiss on the cheek.
“I swear to fuck, if you touched any of my stuff-” Cassandra starts to say, intentionally ignoring the kiss, even though her cheeks get flush at the contact.
“Nope, not a single thing. Not even the broken glass. Nice touch, by the way, makes the whole space feel a helluva lot cozier,” you interject. For a few moments she holds you by your shirt collar, staring you in the eyes as if determining whether or not to believe you. Somehow, some way, she declares you innocent, releasing you with an irritated sigh. After pretending to dust yourself off, you return your attention to the central canvas. “Do you do a lot of art of your family? I passed by several pieces on my way here, though they were certainly in a different style.” Another pause, with Cassandra waiting for you to spring a verbal trap.
“Some of those are mother’s work,” she answers, tentatively, eying you closely. When you merely nod in reply, expecting her to elaborate, she starts to relax, little by little. “I doubt you passed any of mine. Mother tends to keep those closer to her quarters, or near the main entrance.” Interesting, you think, why hasn’t she addressed my original question?
“It sounds like she’s very proud of you,” you muse, still facing away from your soulmate. There’s a slight shakiness to your voice, as your mind starts to dwell on memories of your own family. Perhaps noticing this, Cassandra takes a few steps closer, one hand hovering over your shoulder, not quite sure if you needed (or perhaps deserved) any comfort. In this moment, you feel far more vulnerable than you had the day before. Taking a deep breath, you try to center yourself, before perfectly ruining whatever trust you had just established with Cassandra. “Something tells me she doesn’t know about the titty sculpture though, right? Can’t quite imagine that one being displayed where everyone can see it.”
To your immense surprise, Cassandra gives you a blank stare.
“You… you really don’t know anything about my mother, do you?” She says, after several awkward seconds. It feels strange to think that she had been furious, merely a handful of minutes ago. “If you actually behave for a while, I can show you some of her favorite pieces around the castle. Then maybe you’ll understand.” Intrigued, you debate how exactly to respond. On one hand, you did want to see the art, but on the other hand… misbehaving was your goal of the day.
“Sounds like a nice date to me. Why not start the tour right now?” You suggest, hoping to meet your ‘politeness quota’ earlier rather than later. Still, it is in your very nature to be chaotic, and you find yourself giving Cassandra an affectionate shoulder touch. It’s not at all genuine, but the two of you blush nonetheless. How could you not, when your blood was bound together, hearts made to race in sync?
“Don’t get friendly with me,” Cassandra stammers, unadjusted to the way her pulse pounded. “This isn’t a date. We’re just- it doesn’t matter, actually. As long as it means getting you out of my studio, I don’t care.” With that said, she takes your hand in her own, pulling you towards the exit. If she has any feelings about the soft touch, she hides them well… unlike yourself. Cheeks flushed, you’re half tempted to yank yourself out of her grip, hating the way your heart skips a few beats. Would I still feel this way if I didn’t know we were soulmates? You wonder, biting your lower lip to prevent any unwanted comments from slipping out. Soon enough you’d have art aplenty to distract yourself with. Hopefully.
---------------------------
“My God, you were not kidding. I don’t- I can’t even think of anything clever to say,” you chime, staring dumbfounded at the several statuettes of naked women. They seemed to fulfill some other purpose, one you couldn’t parse at the moment, but you could hardly think about the details right now. “I mean, good for your mother, for sticking to a theme, I suppose,” you continue, tripping over your own tongue, uncharacteristically quiet. Clearly amused by your flustered display, Cassandra lets out a hearty laugh.
“Good to know some things can shut you up. I’ll have to keep this in mind for next time you bother me,” she teases, light-heartedly. Her words only fluster you more, though they quickly give you room to counter, much to your joy.
“Is that so? Planning on carrying around a busty bust for the rest of your life, or thinking of going the more au naturel route?” You asked, briefly sticking your tongue out at Cassandra. It takes her a moment to understand what you’re getting at, but as soon as she does she’s smacking your arm with an offended huff. Despite her irritation, the blow is relatively soft, and you swear you can see her fighting to hide a smile. “Starting to go soft on me, are you? I hardly even felt that one.”
“So you’d prefer I hit you harder? And to think you called me kinky,” Cassandra fires back, without a hint of hesitation. Now both of you are laughing, softly, like old friends sharing fond memories. It’s… weirdly nice. A warmth fills your chest, even as you try to remind yourself that you shouldn’t be happy right now. Damn it, you think, suddenly frowning, hands clenching. We shouldn’t be having fun banter, back and forth like a real couple. Not when I’ve still got wounds from her hands on my skin. Instinctively you reach up to your face, thumb running over the marks Cassandra’s nails had left behind. The touch stings, bad, no matter how gentle you try to be. Noticing your shift in expression, your soulmate inches closer. “If your wounds are bothering you, I can have one of the servants get more ointment or whatever it is we have around. I don’t want you to-... There’s no reason for you to suffer more than you need to, besides, I don’t want you complaining all day.” Of course she couldn’t bring herself to imply that she cared. Of course. It wasn’t like the two of you were actually capable of being soft for each other, obviously. All of your confusion melts down, boiled by the warmth in your chest, turning to a familiar, albeit painful, rage.
“Right, right! Because you care so fucking much, yeah? What the fuck am I doing? Why am I-” you jab a finger towards her chest, accusatory- “talking to you? Why am I pretending you're not the one who did this to me? You’re the fucking reason my face hurts, my shoulder hurts, my brain-... I can’t stop thinking about everything that happened down there. I can’t get those goddamn images out of my head, every time I close my eyes, every time I look at you. I…” You trail off, chest heaving a little, tears pricking the corners of your eyes. Cassandra’s standing tall, unflinching, but there’s a noticeable regret in her expression.
“What. Are. You… going to do about it?” She asks, through clenched teeth, fighting back the full force of her emotions. You can’t tell what exactly she’s feeling, but you know that you want her to show you. Every part of you is itching for a fist fight, regardless of how stupid you know the idea is.
“Depends, dickwad, on whether or not these statuettes are properly secured,” you snap, already moving, fully abandoning all impulse control. By the time your hand grips the first sculpture, Cassandra has put you in a headlock, forcefully tugging you backwards. Panic sets in, making you try to jam your elbows into her stomach. Before long both of you are tumbling to the floor, bodies already aching, limbs flailing wildly in an attempt to hit a target, any target. In the end the air is knocked from your lungs as your head smacks against the ground. “Shit, shit, shit,” you grumble, coughing, finally processing just how much of a dumbass you were. It’s clear that at least one of the previous day’s wounds has reopened, and you feel something wet and sticky on your shirt.
“Finished, asshole?” Cassandra wheezes, sounding dazed, roughly pulling you up by your shirt collar. You nod, refusing to meet her gaze. Then she’s sighing in relief, letting you lean on her for support, holding you surprisingly close, considering the circumstances. “Let’s get you cleaned up. Again…”

Anime I Watched This Summer
Summer 2020 has officially come to a close. It’s fall in Animal Crossing and the trees are beginning to turn. Much like quarantine, I spent a lot of my free time watching anime when I wasn’t stressing over starting college. Now that the school year has begun, I thought it would be nice to reflect on everything I’ve watched!
These Anime were seen between 6/14 - 8/31 (my Birthday!) and are listed in chronological order.
They will be rated on a 1-10 scale; 1 meaning complete garbage, 10 meaning masterpiece. I will offer my thoughts on what I did/didn't like about each show!
1. Bakemono no Ko - 8/10
Tumblr media
This was such a great way to start out the summer! I love the dynamic between Kumatetsu and Ren. Overall its a little cliche, but it’s also very wholesome. It’s by the same studio that made Wolf Children (which I loved!). so I knew it was going to be good. My favorite aspect of this movie was its backgrounds and world building!
2. Wan Sheng Jie - 9/10
Tumblr media
Oh my gosh! I know that this is technically a donghua, but its on MAL, so it counts. This show quickly became my favorite slice of life of all time. I adore the art style and all of the characters. The comedy, plot, and design blends so well together. Everything in Wan Sheng Jie feels warm and comfy. It’s also confirmed for a second season! After seeing its cliff hanger ending, I’m so anxious for what comes next!
3. Dororo - 7/10
Tumblr media
I’ll be honest, I’m a sucker for studio MAPPA. I really liked the historical aspects of Dororo. From the outfits to the ways characters behave, its grounded in the constraints of feudal Japan. I would have given this show a higher score if it was a little more grounded in science. I feel like more time should’ve been given to the demons and antagonists of the show. Our MC was so over powered, which made the final fights of the series more lack-luster. I think its less of the anime’s fault and more because the original source material is from the 60s. That being said, I loved this show! It was cute and action packed. Though it isn’t perfect, it holds its own.
4. Bungou Stray Dogs - 5/10
Tumblr media
The concepts and action are misconstrued in Bungou Stary Dogs. This is one of those shows that I chose to watch because it was all over Tumblr. The powers themselves are cool, but I can’t understand why this series is so praised. At it’s core its predictable and basic. The fights seemed low stakes and low energy. None of the humor really felt like it belonged. It tried too hard to be something it isn’t. I don’t think I’ll watch beyond this first season.
5. Kami no Tou - 4.5/10
Tumblr media
First off, fuck Rachel, me and my homies hate Rachel. I really really had high hopes for Tower of God. It paves the way for Webtoon adaptations in the future. Its such a shame that this adaptation SUCKED. I have not read the source material, I’m going solely based on the anime. It wasn’t good? It was horrible. I hate Bam, I hate Rachel. I think all the characters expect Rak were awful. Please don’t make a season 2. Please. If you’re interesting in Tower of God, just read the webtoon.
6. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - 7/10
Tumblr media
Shoujo anime is my guilty pleasure. I especially liked the way Gekkan Shoujo tackled Sakura and Nozaki’s relationship. Besides just the main characters, even the side characters were enjoyable! It was a fun and creative show. My only complaint is how dense Nozaki is, but I also absolutely love that part of him.
7. Jojo no Kimyou no Bouken (Parts 1-2) - 6.5/10
Tumblr media
Jojo is not the saving grace of shounen anime. It isn’t something super revolutionary and it certainly will never be a 10/10. Part 1 was so slow and boring. Jonathan was just mediocre at best. I definitely liked Joseph a LOT more than Jonathan. Part 2 overall was much easier to watch than part 1. The fights are good, but there’s just something about Jojo that I can’t get behind. Although I’m completely bashing this series, I’m going to keep watching it. At this point, I wanna know what a stand is.
8. Clannad - 5.5/10
Tumblr media
I was expecting Clannad to be sad, but instead I got a cute, slice of life, romance. It wasn’t unenjoyable, but it was also a pretty slow-burning show. I loved watching Nagisa and Okazaki slowly fall in love with each other. It was funny at times and sad at other points. I am currently watching Clannad: After Story (which I’ve heard is heartbreaking), so I’m hoping to get some catharsis out of that.
9. Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai...  - 6/10
Tumblr media
This show is only 12 episodes, and yet it still has filler episodes for some reason? I’m a person who doesn’t typically watch isekai because the genre is so over done. However, when it’s done in a very specific way it’s really fun to watch! This show was definitely a lot of fun, it’s also cute and has so many interesting character-character interactions. The ending is painfully cliche, but I think it adds to this shows charm.
10. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen  - 8/10
Tumblr media
I loved Love is War so much! I love their weird romantic dynamic. I love the characters, and I love the animation. It’s over the top and executes it humor masterfully. The entire show fills you with anticipation for the two main characters. Kaguya is my favorite character. Although I haven’t seen season two yet, I most certainly will! I’m so upset I hadn’t seen this show sooner.
11. Great Pretender - 8.5/10
Tumblr media
This show is so colorful and bubbly. The animation is so smooth and they are able to tackle so many different kinds of things given its plot. The whole show itself just feels like summertime. It came out not to long ago, so some people may not be familiar with it. On top of the show itself, the music is great, with a Jazzy OP and and ED that features Freddie Mercury
12. Steins;Gate 0 - 8/10
Tumblr media
I loved the original Stein;Gate so much! So it’s no surprise how much I liked the second season. It builds significantly off the first season in a sort of “off shot” OVA kind of way. The events of Steins;Gate 0 don’t actually happen, but that doesn’t stop it from being meaningful. The big “twist” was predictable and a bit of a let down, but I still enjoyed this. Granted, I’m bias.
13. Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai - 9.5/10
Tumblr media
I sobbed. So much. This movie was phenomenal, it was such a trip. Having watched the original series, this tore my heart apart. It gets a high score for being able to take the characters I love and creating a wonderfully emotional experience. If you haven’t seen Bunny Girl Senpai, please watch it, and then watch this movie. You won’t regret it!
14. Hotaru no Haka - 6/10
Tumblr media
Grave of the Fireflies made me stop watching anime for a while. Studio Ghibli created something grim, something that leaves the viewers feeling hollow. Its a movie about WWII from Japan’s perspective. As an American, all I could feel while watching this was immense guilt. I will say though, that some of the movies main plot could have easily been prevented if the main character had swallowed his pride. His younger sister was also my least favorite character. I get that she’s a kid and that kids are fussy, but you would think that during wartime, she’d be more understanding and at least try to eat the things she dislikes.
15. Yagate Kimi ni Naru - 9/10
Tumblr media
This was a great way to end the summer. This is more that just GL romance, its a love story. Its about growing up and learning to understand your feelings. I related to Yuu so much, which made this more emotional than I expected. It’s really unlike another romance anime I’ve seen. I hope it gets confirmed for a second season. If not, I’ll be reading the manga.
Seasonal Shows: (Things that are still airing as of 9/5/2020)
1. The God of High School  7.5/10
Tumblr media
Another thing done by studio MAPPA. Are you surprised? I absolutely love the action in GoH. The plot however, is all over the place. The story seems fragmented and hard to follow. Like Tower of God, it was poorly adapted. I’m giving it such a high score, because it’s SO much more enjoyable then Tower of God.
2. Enen no Shouboutai: Ni no Shou - 4/10
Tumblr media
My thoughts on season 2 are about the same as my thoughts on season 1. The only difference is that this season has more Jojo references. I’ve rated it lower because its so repetitive. I’m so sick of watching it, but I’ve got to see it through the bitter end.
3. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season - 8.5/10
Tumblr media
All I’m going to say about Re:Zero is that I love it. I can’t give an accurate review of it because I’ve been hyping this season since it was announced. If you’re into non-typical isekai, watch Re:Zero, its so enjoyable!

Story time about me discovering that hey, maybe I’m chronically ill?
Nothing too intensive but I’ll put it all below the cut!
So, I’m about 15, at home, trying to go to sleep. Aside from having chronic migraines and insomnia, I figured I was fairly healthy. Just the kid who would prefer to read than play.
I’m trying to sleep, when I notice it: I can’t feel my heartbeat. Now, I’ve been through severe trauma, and had a lot going on at the time, so I start sobbing, terrified I’m dying or something.
I don’t remember if I called for help or not, but my parent (I’m keeping vague for reasons) takes me to the ER, let’s cousins know, and off we go.
Turns out, I just have a super low Blood pressure and heart rate (I probably noticed because of my severe anxiety at the time). We’re talking when I sleep my BP is usually 48, and up and moving about between 60-70. They say it’s no worry, it’s just an athletes heart, and try not to get up too fast.
But the thing is, I’m not active, never really have been. Probably because I fatigue easy, which I assumed was normal.
(We would have to do the mile every Friday in PE, and grade was based on the time you finished. I usually got a C or B, so I finished in under 8/7 minutes. But I’d be gasping and feeling like passing out, so uh, something was obviously going on.)
Now, I’ve always had presyncope - you know how you stand up too fast and dark encroaches on your vision like you’re gonna faint? I experienced that almost every time I stood up, even at school. Figured it was normal, happens to everyone right? (It does not, in fact, happen to everyone all the time.)
Passed out a few times between ages 12 to now, but figured it was other things. Oh, I didn’t eat enough, or I was sick, etc.
Until one time I ‘passed out’ as my sis did my makeup, and I was just sitting there and had been for awhile. (We’re still not sure if I passed out or had a seizure - the ER doc was super unprofessional and brushed us off, just gave me an EKG - and with NCS you can have non-epileptic seizures.)
So we go, “okay this isn’t normal”.
Finally a rhuemetologist says, “oh you have Dysautonomia.” (I went to see about my fibromyalgia because apparently base level pain is a 0 and not a 3.)
A cardiologist gave me a two week heart monitor, and shoved meds on me. Didn’t expound on what type I had, and refused the tilt table test.
(I eventually started the meds after fainting in the middle of the night - I had used the restroom and luckily I had pulled my pants up and angled myself to the carpeted hallway. Somehow, no one woke up to the thud and i laid there and silently cried.) I had side affects from meds but I’m still on them, and I’ve only had one accidental faint since (I still have presyncope episodes but we tried upping the dosage and I actually got worse, so I’m stuck on this one dose that kinda helps.)
New cardiologist finally, and hey, he’ll order a tilt table! Tilt table was positive (almost a negative because I have a severe delayed reaction apparently -_- which explains why when I pass it it’s, like, awkwardly not right after I get up), and I got diagnosed specifically with Neuro Cardiogenic Syncope, or Vasovagal Syncope. (Still curious if I have a form of POTS or not.)
Now, what’s the moral of all this? Mostly I just wanted to share my story. I guess if you find out something in your health isn’t normal like you thought, or it’s interfering with your daily life, get it checked out.

What is the world wide agreement on how these vaccines should be allocated?
If there are 20 logical parts to the answer, I’m thinking the parts below would be part of it, although they are only some of the first %s to the answer:
How about grouping the 195 countries into “secured a prioritised (more expensive) contract”, “have higher risk factors (like the countries in the list below)” or “all other countries”. And all of the vaccines can get allocated by COVAX, e.g. 2/9 to contract countries (30?), 3/9 to high risk countries (if don’t already fit into the first category; 50?) and 4/9 to remaining countries (115? Is this after group 2 and 1 or how?). Or something like that, but allocated according to country population, not country=1.
What is the best set of methods we have so far?
Because currently there seems to be global pressure for the vaccines to go to rich countries first. I understand that politicians literally might have their career riding on this, but if you look at this through God’s eyes (not Jesus’s but God’s- the widest God), what are the 10-20 best logical parts to how exactly each month’s vaccines should be allocated world wide?
What are the %s to start getting more certainty on the above? Because there seems to be strong local political pressure at times for non-best global allocations (and people may feel their political careers are connected to it), but is one person really worth more than another for superficial reasons?
A “God’s eye” perspective would be really helpful
What would the country priorities be and how soon would the third group of 115 countries start getting small %s of vaccines for %s of priority groups?
And the second group of countries should definitely be treated as a global priority with this:
Regions:
1- Countries that are likely to have reached hospital overcapacity but are very likely to have coronavirus underreporting (e.g. Zimbabwe)
2- Countries with challenging survival problems where coronavirus lockdowns are making things even more complex (i.e. vulnerability); Countries where there could be high risks in other ways from the coronavirus- e.g. from lack of food or other illnesses (e.g. Yemen)
3- Where are people most at risk of being disabled (versus dying), because this is a life time cost (e.g. difficulty with health costs and work)
4- Countries where natural disasters have hit and it’s hard to stop the spread (e.g. Central America)
5- Countries that are near hospital overcapacity (e.g. the UK)
6- Countries that are in risky areas for a lot of other surrounding countries (e.g. surrounded by countries and poorer (so they might have other urgent priorities))
7- Where else?
If 3/9 of monthly vaccines went to these countries, maybe they could get their high risk and medium high risk groups vaccinated first, and then they would be put in the third category after that (because there would probably be 20 countries in the first category, 60 countries in the second category, and 115 countries in the third category- where vaccines would be distributed evenly per person (e.g. for 2% of each population size at a time). However, small countries (e.g. under 1-2 million) with strong borders should probably get put higher up the list because that will help them stop the spread completely.
Types of people:
1- All people with 2 or more health conditions
2- All people in high risk groups
3- All people who are working with endurance healthcare (who wish to get immunised)
4- All adults working in schools (who wish to get immunised), because they might have health conditions themselves or be caring for people with health conditions and young people are the most likely to be symptomless carriers
5- Which medium-high risk groups?
6- Who else?
It’s a bit like the Titanic at the moment,
and it would be so incredibly useful if there was strong global logic as to where the vaccines need to go, 0.5% by 0.5%, as they are produced.
So if there is more global agreement, certainty and understanding on how it should be allocated this would be really useful. Because it’s so complex, this would be done by adding %s to the 10 to 12 logical parts that lead to the answer (e.g. what % of month 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 should go to country groups 1, 2 and 3), how do we produce more vaccine, who is paying for it and how does it affect quantity and allocation, how can it be produced cheaper, and how do we figure out to which countries the different efficacies go to? And the %s of what do with the faster spreading variants globally (I have 0% of that but I added about 30% to the first question, i.e. without the details).
When I said the Titanic, I realised how intense specific examples of this could be- for example, for some areas I can handle specific examples and other areas, like the area of high food insecurity, I find it hard to approach/ deal with specific examples. It’s really important to stay within your mental health abilities and have strong boundaries beyond that. If you want to do some really helpful inputs, you shouldn’t punish yourself in the hours after for helping... it’s perfectly OK to do a set of time inputs for e.g. a total of 15-45 minutes (e.g. 10, 10, 15, 15, or double that if you’re very motivated), to focus very specifically on adding %s to this question or to another question, and then to deal with physical side effects (e.g. by exercising, writing, drawing or talking about it). And to try not to think about it outside of input and recovery times... In some development areas you are individually more suited to handling specific examples and in other development areas you should individually be more careful, so you might try to avoid specific case studies to begin with and approach it as %s to a question. People who help things like this should be rewarded, not punished, so it’s good to be mindful of your individual sensitivities and your mental health limits and abilities, and take good care of yourself in the process.
And again, the death rate is low- about 2-4%, but it causes a lot of death stress for medium and high risk people and all the people who care about them and are connected to them (including acquaintances). It’s also very sudden, which means endurance healthcare staff may have to be forced to make awful choices of who gets ventilators and who dies, and as hospital systems fill up, this means way less hospital resources for all other health problems like heart attacks, emergencies, surgeries, everything else that paramedics, ambulances and hospitals would be doing if they weren’t so filled up. But on the other hand, imagine if the death rate had been higher, like 6-8%. They’ve been warning about a pandemic like this for 4 decades.
How do we find methods to prevent all future pandemics, even if it is added % by %?

2018 Fic List
Since I did this for 2019, I wanted to do one for 2018 because I guess I just love mucking around with lists XD
2018 was also the year harassment on my main account drove me to create 2 more separate AO3 accounts so I could continue to post non-drarry fics in peace until the drarry fandom found some chill, so around August/September is when links will start going to other accounts and I was super active there rather than my main.
(2019 List)
Note: All explicit rated fics on my main AO3 account are behind an account lock, that means only logged in AO3 users can read them. This is for a couple of reasons, but a big one is because those fics are the ones that I find reposted the most frequently. Don’t repost my fics.
Most popular fics of 2018:
(because I’m doing this now, I can’t get completely accurate for most popular within 2018, so it’s more like, which are my most popular fics of 2018 now)
Most Kudosed: ‘In the Ways That Matter’ (HP, Drarry, 1,260 Kudos, posted April) Most Hits: ‘Kinktober 2018′ (VLD, Multiship, 21,764 hits, posted October) Most Commented: ‘In the Ways That Matter’ (HP, Drarry, 83 comments, posted April)
This is an even longer list than 2019 (182 works linked), milestones, stats, fandom, ship, and fic lists under the cut:
Milestones:

Notes:
-What the hell was I on in September and how do I get my hands on it again XD I went fucking insane that month doing Sapphic September twice over + a ship week. YIKES. But also like, NEVER AGAIN, I remember I was so burned out halfway through Kinktober after that and struggled to finish kinktober’s list, then I went offline for a few months and didn’t write for just as long, but also some real life shit was going down so it’s all blurred together XD
-Aaaah, look at all them rarepairs, I do so love my rares!
-Still kinda bummed that S8 killed my VLD buzz cos writing for that fandom was so much fun and I miss it, I was gonna try get back into it this year, but then found out that even previously non-toxic corners of the fandom are toxic now and nope, killed my buzz all over again.
-STILL NO BBC MERLIN?!?!?! omg was 2017 really the last time I wrote for that fandom??????? Also no Star Trek, I really thought 2018 was the year I wrote that but I guess my memory is still shit XD must have been 2017 wow, but at least there’s still new fandoms for when I get around to making a 2017/2016 list XD which will luckily be smaller cos I wrote fewer but longer fics in 2016/2017
-Overall, like 2019, 2018 was a bad year for me in terms of word count. I guess it was the beginning of my health really affecting my ability to write and my shift to accommodate for that by writing shorter things instead of trying and failing to write long fics like I used to (altho actually I think that started in 2017 really, guess I need to make the list to see XD). I’m still pretty proud though, cos I always wanted to write more sapphic content and doing sapphic september was something I didn’t think I’d manage but I did it 2x over =) and then off the heels of that success, I did Femslash Feb for HP in 2019 and some of Sapphic Sept 2019 too
-Kinktober was also super fun, even though I was a big ball of anxiety the whole time and burning out pretty badly after September. But I really got outside of my comfort zone to write several things I not only hadn’t written before, but also don’t even personally like XD I wrote a couple of my squicks and that was an interesting experience. I also gained a few new kinks, also an interesting experience XD

OC x Fate Grand Order
I went and remade a servant profile for one of my OCs last night and I’m kind of proud of how it turned out so I’m posting it here!
Rachel [ Assassin ] ***** {B A A Q Q (A)}
Strength- C+ Agility- A+ Endurance- C- Mana- A+ Luck- B- NP- EX
Star Absorbtion: 98% Star Generation: 25% NP Charge ATK: 0.97% NP Charge DEF: 4%
Q: 5 A: 4 B: 2 E: 6
[0]: Rachel is a prodigy mage who was the product of an affair and is eventually taken in by her father. Raised to be her family's heir, Rachel was given strict training day in and day out to perfect her magic. In an effort to escape her father she accepted a job that would take her into the pacific northwest that changed her life forever.
[1]: Height/Weight: 157cm/47kg Source: Fool of Osiris Region: Pacific Northwest, USA Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Gender: Female Noticeably small in stature, noticeably angry when that fact is brought up
[2]: Despite being a creative and artistic person, much of her magic is used oppressively, focusing her mana into dense singularities that destroy wraiths. Naturally this is the result of spending years in the household of her father, where nothing else matters but success.
[3]: { Noble Phantasm: Dark side of the Moon } Rank: EX Type: Anti-Personnel With extreme focus, Rachel tunes her mana to channel the power of the moon. Focusing it into her blade, she cuts the connection between life and death and returns the souls of her opponents to the void. This ultimate technique was mastered after Rachel was able to open her heart to others and shake herself free from the oppressive teachings of her father. With her creative spirit set free, this is only a first in a long list of techniques.
[4]: Call of the Raven: A+ Rachel's familiars are the ravens that watched over and guided her as a child. A raven is cunning, and scouts for the pack. With this, Rachel is given insight on her enemies that's on par with Rank A Clairvoyance while also giving her the path to defeat them.
[5]: Rachel's journey through the Pacific Northwest was defined by three women that she met there. First was a woman in red, who reflected Rachel's past, and wandered aimlessly with no direction. Second was a woman in black, who showed Rachel her future, had she continued to close her heart. Third, however, was a woman in white who showed Rachel the present - and how to live in the moment.
[I]: In the household of her father, Rachel never had a chance to spread her wings or express her inner self. Despite that, her older half-sister Amanda always encouraged her to try. And so, in the nine years she lived in that house her only act of defiance was dying her bangs a bright, and vibrant purple, a color that proudly displays the color of her soul, the color of her magic.

[Summoning] "Assassin Class servant at your service! You can just call me Rachel."
[Level] "I'm a long way from perfect. There's no way I could stop here!"
[1st Ascension] "You've gotten me this far? Maybe you aren't such a hopeless master after all."
[2nd Ascension] "Ah, it's so good to be going on adventures like this again! I'm getting really excited now!"
[3rd Ascension] "With my mastery of the dark arts, I won't let you down, Master."
[4th Ascension] "To believe that dark is evil is naive. Darkness is simply another aspect life."
...
[Battle Start 1] "Don't lose your cool now, Master."
[Battle Start 2] "As I am now, there's no way I could lose."
[Skill Use 1] "Lunar Gate, open!"
[Skill Use 2] "Darkness, embrace me."
[Command Card 1] "Target sighted."
[Command Card 2] "I'm ready!"
[Command Card 3] "Let's go!"
[Attack 1] "Chaos Bloom!"
[Attack 2] "Dread Wings!"
[Attack 3] "Binding Order!"
[Ex Attack] "Final Indignation!"

[Damage] "Urgh."
[Damage from Noble Phantasm] "It doesn't... hurt..."
[Defeated 1] "I'm sorry... I really messed up."
[Defeated 2] "Mia..."
[Victory 1] "That was nothing, were they even trying?"
[Victory 2] "Didn't even break a sweat!"
...
[Bond 1] "You're not a bad master, y'know? Inexperienced and a little naive, but there are worse things to be."
[Bond 2] "I'm surprised how easy it is to talk to you. You remind me a lot of an old friend of mine. We met when we both transferred to a new school and it actually made me feel better knowing I wasn't the only out of my element."
[Bond 3] "This sword? It was a gift from my sister, from when she went on a trip to Japan. There's an engraving of a raven on the blade that's styled after my familiars. It's my most prized possession!"
[Bond 4] "I wasn't always this talkative. I used to be more... reserved. It wasn't like I was shy, I just didn't like talking to people. Or rather, I just didn't like people. But sometimes people are just like that because they haven't met the right ones yet."
[Bond 5] "Hey Master, I want you to know something. I really appreciate people like you. Someone friendly and easy going who has no trouble reaching out to others, they're the best kind of people. It was someone like that that saved me, y'know?"
[Dialogue 1] "Maybe I should sharpen my sword... Wait, do servants even need to do that?"
[Dialogue 2] "I hate stories where dark is evil, it's such lazy writing!"
[Dialogue 3] "I wonder how Amanda's doing. Ah, she's my sister, she kept me company through a lot of rough years."
[Dialogue 4 (Musashi Present)] "That swordswoman is gorgeous! Ah, b- but I'm a married woman so it doesn't matter!"
[Dialogue 5 (Osakabehime Present)] "That weird, albeit pretty shut in - I feel a strange sense of kinship with her. Gross."
[Dialogue 6 (Orion Present)] "That's Artemis? Well, I guess they say 'don't meet your heroes' for a reason."
[Likes] "Shounen anime and action games! Oh, and pretty girls!"
[Dislikes] "Ugh, everything... That's not true, I think I just hate stuffy, uptight people."
[About the Holy Grail] "A device that grants any wish? Hmmm, as a mage, I wouldn't trust anything like that. But assuming it's true, I'd use it on my mother. She's been through a lot."
[During an Event] "It sounds noisy out there, I- I'm not that good with crowds."
[Birthday] "Though I don't think birthdays are anything special, it's nice having something to celebrate."

Being Alone, Andrew Bogut, and Cats: PLUTO 0 YOUNG, SMUSHY,SOCIAL. & SWEET A GREETER DOG! INTAKE DATE – 3/04/2019 ** A $1,000 stipend will be offered to the New Hope partner that pulls Pluto 56267. ** “I’m a Social Group Greeter Dog!” Pluto has it all! Good looks, an incredibly sweet, happy personality, and he adores other dogs. So much so that he has been made a “Social Group Greeter Dog” to help new arrivals not feel so alone. Pluto makes them feel welcome, and he encourages them to play and try to have fun even in the scary shelter. Oh, and did we tell you how much he adores cuddles and kisses? This big hearted puppy thinks he is a lap dog. We adore his pupy optimism, and we have to wonder how he holds it all together when he, himself, is only 12 months old, and probably just as stressed as the other pups who just want their families back, or even just a new family who will love them unconditionally. So please don’t let him languish. Hurry and foster or adopt him now. Pluto may no longer be a planet, but OUR Pluto will make you the center of his universe. MESSAGE our page or email us at [email protected] for assistance fostering or adopting this sweet, affectionate baby boy. A volunteer writes: “Pluto is out of this world! Because he's a 'star' in playgroup, he has been promoted to "Greeter Dog" which means he meets the new dogs and helps the acclimate to life in the shelter. He's super social with humans as well, nuzzling up to them, seeking attention. Young and smushy, with 'rings' of extra skin around his neck, Pluto will 'rocket' himself into your heart.” MY MOVIES! Brooklyn and Pluto in Playgroup https://youtu.be/ymw7hQU-kBg Pluto and Tazz in Playgroup https://youtu.be/PGwrangjs04 PLUTO, ID# 56267, 1 Yr old, 51 lbs, Unaltered Male Manhattan ACC, Large Mixed Breed, White / Brown SURRENDER REASON: Found Stray, Intake Type: Agency Shelter Assessment Rating: Medical Behavior Rating: INTAKE PROFILE - BASIC INFORMATION: Pluto is a large mixed male who is approximately 3 years old who was found as a stray. Pluto had a loose and wiggly body upon intake and allowed for officers to scan him for a microchip. He also allowed for staff to approach him and collar and leash him for a walk. INTAKE NOTES – DATE OF INTAKE, 03-04-2019: Pluto is active and a little vocal. He knows sit and stay and is very obedient. SHELTER ASSESSMENT SUMMARIES - Date of assessment: 5-Mar-2019 LEASH WALKING Strength and pulling: Moderate-hard Reactivity to humans: None Reactivity to dogs: None Leash walking comments: None SOCIABILITY Loose in room (15-20 seconds): Highly social Call over: Approaches readily Sociability comments: Stayed by assessor, body soft HANDLING Soft handling: Seeks contact Exuberant handling: Seeks contact Comments: Body soft, leaning into pets AROUSAL Jog: Follows (loose) Arousal comments: None Knock: Approaches (loose) Knock Comments: None Toy: Grips, firm Toy comments: Body soft PLAYGROUP NOTES - DOG TO DOG SUMMARIES: Due to arriving as a stray, history around dogs is unknown. During his stay in the care center, he has displayed the most compatibility with other social, playful dogs. 3/4: When introduced off leash to dogs, Pluto is social and playful. 3/5: Pluto plays exuberantly. 3/6: Pluto is soft and polite when greeting dogs. INTAKE BEHAVIOR - Date of intake: 4-Mar-2019 Summary: Loose body, allowed handling MEDICAL BEHAVIOR - Date of initial: 4-Mar-2019 Summary: Social ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Pluto so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS: Pluto is difficult to return to his kennel, lunging at dogs he is passing and grabbing the leash when he is entering the kennel (tugging hard). It is difficult to then get him to relinquish the leash as he is reluctant to trade for treats or toys. This behavior has not been noted outside of the kennel. Pluto continues to remain social and non-concerning outside of the kennel. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Level 1 MEDICAL EXAM NOTES: 4-Mar-2019 DVM Intake Exam. Estimated age: 1-2 years. Shelter contact information: Phone number (212) 788-4000 Email [email protected] Shelter Addresses: Brooklyn Shelter: 2336 Linden Boulevard Brooklyn, NY 11208 Manhattan Shelter: 326 East 110 St. New York, NY 10029 Staten Island Shelter: 3139 Veterans Road West Staten Island, NY 10309 *** NEW NYC ACC RATING SYSTEM *** Level 1 Dogs with Level 1 determinations are suitable for the majority of homes. These dogs are not displaying concerning behaviors in shelter, and the owner surrender profile (where available) is positive. Some dogs with Level 1 determinations may still have potential challenges, but these are challenges that the behavior team believe can be handled by the majority of adopters. The potential challenges could include no young children, prefers to be the only dog, no dog parks, no cats, kennel presence, basic manners, low level fear and mild anxiety. Level 2 Dogs with Level 2 determinations will be suitable for adopters with some previous dog experience. They will have displayed behavior in the shelter (or have owner reported behavior) that requires some training, or is simply not suitable for an adopter with minimal experience. Dogs with a Level 2 determination may have multiple potential challenges and these may be presenting at differing levels of intensity, so careful consideration of the behavior notes will be required for counselling. Potential challenges at Level 2 include no young children, single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity, mouthiness, fear with potential for escalation, impulse control/arousal, anxiety and separation anxiety. Level 3 Dogs with Level 3 determinations will need to go to homes with experienced adopters, and the ACC strongly suggest that the adopter have prior experience with the challenges described and/or an understanding of the challenge and how to manage it safely in a home environment. In many cases, a trainer will be needed to manage and work on the behaviors safely in a home environment. It is likely that every dog with a Level 3 determination will have a behavior modification or training plan available to them from the behavior department that will go home with the adopters and be made available to the New Hope Partners for their fosters and adopters. Some of the challenges seen at Level 3 are also seen at Level 1 and Level 2, but when seen alongside a Level 3 determination can be assumed to be more severe. The potential challenges for Level 3 determinations include adult only home (no children under the age of 13), single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity with potential for redirection, mouthiness with pressure, potential escalation to threatening behavior, impulse control, arousal, anxiety, separation anxiety, bite history (human), bite history (dog) and bite history (other).

The Ultimate WHOOP Review
I’ve been using WHOOP for a couple of months. WHOOP is a biometric device you wear on your wrist, or bicep, to help measure cardiovascular inheritance from aerobic Strain training during your workouts as well as the mounting recordable stresses of the day based on heart rate beats per minute. My WHOOP device, worn exclusively on my upper bicep, has taught me the hard way that Kettlebell workouts are great for increasing anaerobic strength, but Kettlebells also need extra help to push the body into aerobic cardiovascular fitness, and for me, that translates into having to add running, Kettlebell EMOM (with cautious variations), jumping jacks, and cycling to my daily workout routines. Those additions compete to complicate both time and trouble.
As you know, I use my Apple watch on my left wrist to measure my heart rate all day. I wear an Oura Ring on my left hand in marriage position — as does my wife! — to help track HRV every day.  I wear my WHOOP all day and all night, on alternating biceps, to bring it all together in the ultimate triumvirate of health in exposition.
I’ll give you my ultimate WHOOP review bullet points in a moment, but first, I want to discuss my initial experience with getting to know WHOOP by sharing my initial conversation with support.
QUESTION ONE
BOLESBELLS.COM: Is there any way to tell Whoop that I am on medication that affects my heart rate? I'm on Blood Pressure meds, and while I may be able to peak at 150bpm, my sustainable max is really around 135. With other Apps, I can tell them I'm on meds, and the expectation is lowered. When my heart rate jumps to max, it almost instantly drops back down to my RHR of about 60 while exercising. Will Whoop eventually figure this out on its own?
WHOOP SUPPORT: You can track your blood pressure medication in the WHOOP Journal! To add it to your journal, you can edit your journal topics and under "Medication" there is an option to add blood pressure medication. If you would like some more information on your personal HR data, I would be more than happy to connect you with our Data Analytics team. They are the experts!
BOLESBELLS.COM FOLLOW UP: I found the BP meds part of the journal! Thank you. Initially setting up the journal, I remember seeing something about anxiety meds, but nothing about BP meds. I fixed it, and was able to go back in time, and adjust the journal for BP meds. I do think more options need to be added above 100mg a day, though! What happens when you read that plus one upper limit in the way WHOOP interprets the BP meds data? As well, are BP meds that significantly affect my upper heart rate, influencing my daily Strain requirements? Or does that only happen once a month? Or never?
QUESTION TWO
BOLESBELLS.COM: Why no connection to Apple Health and Apple Watch? What is the point of siloing your App and data? I have to use Strava as a bridge to get my workouts recorded, so the investment into Whoop now becomes a multiple of a Strava subscription as well.
WHOOP SUPPORT: Our only two integrations at the moment are Strava and TrainingPeaks. We currently do not have any plans to integrate with Apple Health or the Apple Watch, but I am more than happy to send this feedback over to our Product Development Team for future updates.
BOLESBELLS.COM FOLLOW UP: Thank you for submitting the Apple Health request function. By including two applications, you appear to indicate you are willing to allow Apple Health functionality, but not directly, as some web analysis suggests the WHOOP team is not large enough to offer enough software management muscle to support Apple Health and the Apple Watch.
QUESTION THREE
BOLESBELLS.COM: I'm not certain why Strain is so complicated to comprehend when -- "Do This, Get That" -- is much more relatable. I've read all your info pages on Strain, and I've read all the online forums, but Strain appears to be a proprietary, and secret, algorithm that you don't want end users to figure out to actually meet the goal. Keeping us in the dark makes us work harder to reach a metric that is unclear and muddled. This makes for a frustrating workout experience in the end because you are withholding clarification and confirmation of progress.
WHOOP SUPPORT: We do not intend for Strain to be complicated to comprehend! Strain is a measurement, on a 21-point scale, which quantifies the total cardiovascular load undergone. The score is not “linear”, in that it is easier to go from a 0 to a 4 than it is to go from a 10 to a 12.
This [sic] non-linearity reflects physiological processes in the body, for example why you are unable to sustain an all-out sprint for longer than a couple of minutes. Unlike counting steps, Strain is personalized and accounts for differences in fitness and ability such that two people who complete the same run (with the same amount of steps) could get very different Strain scores based on differences in the relative difficulty to complete that run. In the case of this run, the more fit athlete would get a lower Strain because he or she did not have to work as hard to complete the run as the less fit athlete did. Strain starts to build at the beginning of each cycle (when you go to sleep), and the score will get harder and harder to increase as it gets higher. If you don't do much activity outside of walking and/or working, it may not increase.
Strain for an activity is calculated by combining a weighted sum of the duration of time you spend at various heart rates. Each heart rate has a different weight to how much Strain will increase. To accrue Strain points, you must have a Heart Rate that exceeds 30% of your Heart Rate Reserve (Max Heart Rate - Resting Heart Rate) plus your Resting Heart Rate.
BOLESBELLS.COM FOLLOW UP: I understand Strain, but I don't understand if Strain understands me. Because of my BP medication, I'm not able to sustain much of an upper heart rate and, right now, WHOOP is holding that against me statistically because the base Strain expectation is too high. I don't know if that will change if WHOOP learns my maximum heart rate and adjusts, but right now, it's frustrating that I'm stuck in "recovery" for Strain, when I'm actually killing myself just to get above the 50% level of Strain for my WHOOP workouts. I wish the BP meds were not part of a journal, but an integral part of determining my daily Strain effort.
That conversation with WHOOP support was about two months ago, and I was pushed over to a WHOOP data technician to continue the approach; and here are my extra thoughts, and analysis — in informational bullets — concerning my ongoing interaction with the WHOOP strap, and the reasons behind the how, and why, of WHOOP data dislocation:
WHOOP data support and I had a long conversation about Blood Pressure medication, and Strain, and my ability to move my maximum heart rate into the recordable aerobic range. I’m old and I’m on meds — both of those things negatively affect my achievable maximum heart rate. At the time, my default heart rate max was set at 185bpm server side with WHOOP. I can barely reach 150bpm in any workout, even at my full Strain capacity, and even then I cannot sustain that 150bpm heart rate for any longer than a minute or so. That means I’ll never reliably reach my daily Strain goal, especially if I sleep well the night before, and over the last two years, I’ve worked really hard — in concert with my Oura Ring — to always make sure my sleep is right. WHOOP support, based on reading the initial 10 days of my metrics recordings, agreed to lower my server side heart rate peak from 185bpm to 160bpm. I agreed to that change because I’ll never hit 185bpm with my medication holding me back, but I still believed 150 should be my actual peak — because my true, sustainable max heart rate is 135bpm — and I’ve been proven right in my first monthly WHOOP assessment that just dropped this morning. However, WHOOP data support, at that time, was unmoved by my 150bpm request because, they could see, I’d hit 151bpm once. That echoing decision makes the idea of continuing on with WHOOP beyond the six-month minimum subscription a hard task to imagine because I’ll never achieve acceptable cardiovascular health in that WHOOP world.
It is a real hassle to get WHOOP involved in your Apple life. WHOOP will not directly write the Apple Health, or allow Apple Health to directly access WHOOP data. So, if you want the full inclusion of WHOOP into your workout life, you have to make a kludge connection by “hiring” the Strava run App to mediate — to become the “middleman” of record in the Apple world — by negotiating the writing of WHOOP data to Apple Health. That is just a bad user experience. There’s no direct WHOOP data available on your Apple Watch. You can’t start a WHOOP workout from your Apple Watch even if you’re wearing the WHOOP strap. That makes WHOOP technologically feel very old and isolated.
No matter how hard I work out — right now it’s three times a day — I cannot move my Strain gauge into anything other than recovery. That means, according to WHOOP, that I will never be able to meet the daily Strain challenge unless I perform something along the lines of three hours of jumping jacks every day. It’s an impossible task and, in all the time I’ve had my WHOOP on my bicep, I’ve only met my basic Strain requirement once, and that was after a slightly bad night of sleep.
Yes, you can manipulate WHOOP to significantly raise your Strain meter by: Not sleeping enough, drinking alcohol, and not allowing your mind to quiet. All of that will tank your HRV, and WHOOP will then lower your achievable Strain score for the next day. So, we can beat the WHOOP Strain game with intentional bad behavior, but for those of us trying to live, and eat right, WHOOP will not give us that benefit of that doubt because we are “punished” by their Strain algorithm, and then forced to work harder, and push stronger, especially if we are feeling good, and doing well. Sometimes, it feels like WHOOP wants to push me to the point of bodily danger to surpass my arbitrary Strain goal. The stronger you become cardiovascularly, the more WHOOP raises the base Strain expectation of your performance behavior. It feels like a never ending circle by design you can never successfully close. Sometimes, you need to let the dog win the bone.
The fight to beat the WHOOP Strain gauge every day has raised my HRV. That’s pretty amazing. I’m seeing a 10 point increase in HRV in just a month of changing the way I schedule my training and expectations. That’s one behaviorally-enforced miracle on the WHOOP side that cannot be denied.
The WHOOP journal is not a great pathway for determining expectations or habitual implications. I suggest you only include journal variables that are always changing, because if you routinely do a “good” thing every day, it won’t be counted in your monthly report unless you also don’t do it at least five times. That’s a confusing metric that really only allows for the inclusion of bad habits you’re trying to break, and not all the good habits you religiously covet into your daily grind.
WHOOP is amazing technology, but often the promise appears more valid than the proof.

Once a Witch... Always a Witch.
I'd like to begin with asking you to keep an open mind as you read.
Keep these questions to keep in mind to assist you ~ How does this all make you feel after reading it? Do you believe it to be even remotely possible? Who are we to know  [or claim we know] what happens once the veil has been crossed after death? Is the soul, spirit, or divine inner being within all of us capable of communicating things to our subconscious until it becomes conscious, or at the very least a certainly plausible reality?
... I'll let you decide after reading. Please share your thoughts in the comments.
I died, and when this happened, I was sent a message from a past life. I have now returned from the gates of the afterlife; sent back by Anubis after the weighing of my heart, having been shown I had unfinished business to return to here among the living. -Rae Rowley (author)
This message I was given is that I am the reincarnation of Margret Scott. Do you know who she was? The name is likely familiar if you’ve followed the Salem Witch Trails or read about them in any detail...
But first of all, how did I get this message from Margret? Could she really be a past incarnation of my own inner divine being/spirit/soul?
In December of 2020, for reasons I won’t get into, I made an intentional attempt to take my own life utilizing prescribed medications via an overdose (which clearly didn't work! Don't recommend.... 0/10...) ... Naturally, I told no one, of course, and the attempt resulted in me being in bed, alone, and sick for days. I simply told anyone who asked that I had the flu and insisted I be left to rest alone... And in the age of Coronavirus; when you're sick, people really try to avoid you... Which means symptoms, actions, the inability to eat or drink, and so much more go completely unnoticed.
It’s really uncertain what happened to me or my brain, chemically, in those days following my attempt... No one knows for sure how or why I survived taking what was assumed to be over 40-60 pills... but I truly believe that during that time I died. But, somehow, for some unknown reason, I was given the opportunity to return with Margret's story for others in hopes of raising awareness and creating a safe haven for other ‘witches’ and outcasts such as myself. (See link at the bottom of this post).
After 'meeting' Margret and getting this message, when I returned to the living world I only maintained memories from Margret Scott and not many from my actual 'self'... I began speaking irrationally, I talked in circles and about nonsense; no one could understand me, not even my husband... And during that time, I kept telling everyone “they” were trying to burn me at the stake....
This of course made no sense at the time. I was speaking nonsense. Right? ...
Welp that literal crazy talk was the final straw that landed me in the hospital (thankfully)! ...Unfortunately, I further experienced trauma both related and unrelated to my memory issues while I was there.... My stay was over an 8 day period. During that time, I had forgotten [if that's even the right way to describe it?] entirely what or who in my life was real. I began to question my reality altogether - scary shit at the time, believe me! I actually recall asking someone over the phone during my time in the hospital (my husband or my mom, perhaps?) if my children were real... Because I truly believed I'd imagined them and was a legit crazy person by that point.
... You don’t realize how thankful you are for everything and everyone in your life until you begin to believe they were never there, never with you to begin with...
After returning home from the hospital, having missed Christmas with my family and returning home just before the New Year, I began having dreams. Or rather, they weren't dreams, but almost clips of something (memories?) I couldn't possibly have... Caring for animals I'd never had, rocking children to sleep by a fireplace I never had... So, one morning at 3 AM when I could no longer sleep due to these images and thoughts constantly running through my head; I began to do some random research online until I found answers regarding who was reaching out to me.
Having done some digging into the messages I was receiving, I learned that I was (or I am, depending on how you look at it) personally Margret Scott. We had somehow become connected through this experience, and I believe our trauma was what created this fusion; this bond, this melding of minds and information. She was here all along, I know that know, but I was so blind to not only how what I'd been through my whole life impacted me, but I have also been so intensely unobservant to what other peoples histories are.
We spend so much time focused on ourselves, our flaws, our successes, our inadequacies, our goals, our dreams; that we forget to pause and pay attention to what everyone else has or is still going through. We make assumptions and judgements every day without even being conscious of them! And my time in the hospital only proved to me how out of tune humans truly are with one-another...
People are dismissive and ignorant, even when we want to appear helpful and sympathetic. We want to pretend we have all of the answers when we're in a place of power, and refuse to listen to others whom we believe "don't know better" or who have had extremely different life experiences from us; because how could they possibly know what you've been through?! But the truth is; we're all the same. Humans, animals, plants, living beings; we are one-in-the-same. Margret knew this as a practicing Wiccan woman, and yet she was cast out and murdered for her spiritual, physical, and material differences.... She was hung for witchcraft.
Margret Scott
Margret was an immigrant born in 1616 who immigrated with my family to the United States. In 1642 she married Benjamin Scott and they were later “awarded”/given farm land in Rowley County, Massachusetts to care for and tend to in order to benefit and repay the community they were now a part of.
Margret and Ben had seven children total; four died early on in life (increasing her risk of witchcraft accusations- high mortality rates among infants were always blamed on the women who bore them...😒), while three grew old and moved on to have lives and families of their own. Margret appeared to be closest with her son, Benjamin Scott, named after his father, but her relationship with her children becomes rather unclear as later you learn they never made an appearance at the trials, nor did they come in search of repayment or restitution for the family's name being tarnished due to the accusations which were (much) later overturned.
After their children had grown, Benjamin (Margret’s husband) passed away in 1671 due to illness. Once her husband was gone, Margret was left alone to care for herself, her land, and her home all alone... and for years she did so! She managed to live off what her husband left behind for her nearly 20 years!
But, as a widowed woman, she was inevitably led to the need to beg her neighbors for assistance. She'd grown old and at the age of 72, she very likely began getting rude or nasty when her neighbors eventually started turning her away as begging became a regular necessity... Her own adult children seemingly never coming to her aid... She was probably feeling very alone in the world. And it was this bad timing for Margret, regardless of who she was or how she reacted to being turned away as a beggar. Because being an elderly widowed outcast with a history of child death surrounding her; she was the perfect target for her accusers to peg as a witch.
As her own frustration likely grew in the growing absence of goodwill from her neighbors, so did the contempt her neighbors felt for her... this woman, assuredly an outcast in society, had no where to turn in her darkest days and was now likely being viewed by neighbors as a nuisance. She was now poor, hungry, and very probably cold if she could no longer chop her own wood for her hearth... let’s remember, she was 72 when hung for Witchcraft... it was October when she was hung... Yet there was little charity or kindness left in the hearts of her neighbors due to her regular requests for assistance (how else was she supposed to provide for herself as a woman in her 70s?! Alone, without her husband any longer nor the support of her adult children?!)
Now, at this time, I have something to point out as a very odd coincidence: Margret Scott was the ONLY woman from Rowley County, Massachusetts to be hanged in the Salem Witch Trails... My married last name... is Rowley. And just around the same time I began having these post-hospital dreams/memories, my husband’s aunt (his father’s sister, a Rowley by blood), told me that she knew when she met me she was meant to be my spirit guide in this life for reasons she did not exactly disclose... but I've learned since then that she believes in many of the same things I always have, coincidentally... (And believe me, my husbands side of the family is not woo-woo at all!) And, truly, prior to her saying those words to me, I’d never had much of a conversation with the woman! ... But this is all coincidental, right?! More on this topic at a later date, but I discovered a bit more and dug much deeper into Magaret's emotions during a session I had when I went see Aunt April's friend and Reiki practitioner (actually, this practitioner is one of April's past-life relationships! Weirded out yet?)
Anyway, as I was saying, poor elderly Margret was later hung for Witch Craft in Salem due to accusations made by 17 and 19 year old girls. The official statement made by one of her accusers can be found above. If you read closely, the written testimony recorded during the trails states that “Wiccan Scott” (not Margret specifically) came to her in the night in torment, pinching, choking, and supposedly "pressing" the girl... Another girl, recorded only as "M.G." in documentation, made claims that Margret was involved in acts of witchcraft (magically hitting the leg of a man with a stick- the man claimed he felt this so it was therefore ‘verified’ as true🙄), and despite Margret’s denial, they used this “evidence” against her.
Because her original accusers from Rowley County were from two prominent and wealthy families, Margaret never stood a chance... And what's worse is, as the same with the other women hung alongside her at Gallows Hill, no one seemed capable of speaking up for her.... Her family never came to her aid when she was begging others for firewood, food, and likely other supplies needed to survive the harsh Massachusetts winter ahead... They never came to her aid when she was arrested for witchcraft, and they never came seeking restitution for Margaret.
On October 2, 1962 (O.S. September 22nd) Margret was hung along with several other victims of the trails... but her story doesn’t end there! Oh no. It gets worse!
How does it get worse after death? Well, many victims families later had these accusations of witchcraft overturned and/or received restitution for the murder of their loved ones due to those accusations. However, no one ever came in search for Margret’s restitution. Not her children or even any other kin who could possibly lay claim to it... And while every other victim was slowly absolved of their “witchcraft” crimes, Margret was never proclaimed innocent by Massachusetts until 2012! 2012?! Roughy 300 years after being murdered by her neighbors?!?! Why?
Now.... to finally close this [incomplete] story... I have one last little tidbit that should strike you through your heart as cold as it had mine.... because this is significant. Or, at least it's significant to me!
Margret Scott’s body was discarded in a what was likely some kind of pit or ditch along with the other Salem Witch Trial victims that day. BUT, when the bodies were retrieved either claimed by kin to be buried or by someone else to be burned and otherwise discarded; her body was never found...
Literally no one (willing to share, anyway) knows what happened to the remains of Margret Scott. She has been memorialized, of course, as a victim of the trails and she now has her own official headstone... but what truly happened to her body? No one knows where she physically went... but I know she’s somewhere out there.... Someone cared enough to retrieve her remains AFTER her murder, but never to speak of it or seek restitution. Why? Who did this? Was it family? Was it a friend who couldn't speak up out of fear of being accused themselves?
... we’ll never know.... 🤷🏻‍♀️
But here I am... Still kicking... Here to tell her story...

What is Interval Training? What is HIIT?
In 2018, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) was ranked the number one fitness trend by American College of Sports Medicine.[1]
Essentially, HIIT is just following a specific regimen where you vary your speeds and intensity throughout a shorter run, swim, bike, or row.
Any exercise can be a form of HIIT, but here’s a common routine:
Jogging lightly for three minutes.
Pushing yourself harder for a minute (run or sprint).
Repeating this cycle 4 more times.
Because everybody is busy and overwhelmed, fast results in the least amount of time is why most people discover HIIT.
You may be asking, “Steve, just how short and intense are we talking about here? Also, your new haircut looks spiffy.”
Thank you, you’re very kind.
So let’s explore the pros and cons of intervals.
What are the Benefits of HIIT? Why Should You Do Interval Training?
The 1996 landmark Tabata study demonstrated the benefits of extreme HIIT.[2]
Dr. Izumi Tabata, from Japan’s National Institute of Fitness and Sports, was obsessed with interval training.
The doctor sought to see exactly what kind of gains were obtained from short, intense, periods of exercise. He conducted an experiment with Olympic athletes on stationary bikes and put them through intense bouts of exercise followed by short periods of rest.
The results were fascinating.
Compared to regular cardio, HIIT had a greater impact on improving BOTH:
Aerobic increases (endurance).
Anaerobic increases (power).
Even crazier? Tabata was able to demonstrate improvements in his athletes with just four minute bursts.
So what’s happening here?
Simple: your heart is a muscle.
If you keep your heart beating at a constant rate, never expanding it outside of its comfort zone, it will never grow stronger.
By introducing chaos and pushing your muscles outside of their comfort zone, they must adapt and grow more resilient in order to survive.
Intense interval training challenges your heart by constantly forcing it outside of its comfort zone.
In other words: progressive overload – the same concept behind building strength.
Since Tabata’s 1996 study, many other trials have shown the positive impact of interval training.
Here are some of the benefits of High-Intensity Interval Training:
#1) HIIT for Weight loss. A study in the Journal of Obesity found participants were able to lose more body fat following a HIIT program compared to regular cardio.[3]
This makes sense, because other studies suggest high-intensity interval training burns more calories than a “steady state” workout.[4]
Revving up your effort requires more out of you, including calories. If you’re interested in HIIT for weight loss, you might be on the right track.
Plus, interval training can take less time than steady-state cardio.
The average interval training workout is 20 minutes or less.
However, I should note that a meta-study (a review of multiple studies) found no real difference in fat loss between HIIT and steady-state cardio.[5] We’ll talk about this, and the impact of diet for weight loss later.
#2) HIIT for lowering blood sugar. Managing blood sugar is really important for health, not just for diabetics.
Those trying to lose fat should be aware of their blood sugar and corresponding insulin levels.
The good news for our current discussion? HIIT has been shown to help lower and manage blood sugar levels.[6]
#3) HIIT for heart health. Touching on the “antifragile” topic again, HIIT has been shown to help with overall cardiovascular health.
It does so in the same way traditional endurance training does, but at a fraction of the time (almost half).[7]
Now, before you accuse me of being a shill for Big HIIT, I will mention that many of the comments that “HIIT is the secret to fat loss” are overblown.[8]We’ll touch on more of that later.
For now, let’s chat about how to actually do some interval training.
What’s an example of Interval Training? How to do interval running
The key to HIIT is being able to go from “easy” to “difficult.” All sorts of different exercises can get you there:
Aerobic (cardio).
Bodyweight (strength training).
Resistance (weight training).
HIIT is generally associated with running (aerobic), so we’ll devote this section to just that.
The easiest way to experiment with HIIT would be to run.
Here’s how to start with a basic HIIT running workout. Go to a park in your neighborhood. Warm-up with some light jogging, high knees, and mobility – leg swings, arm swings, etc,
And then begin your workout!
Run/jog at a brisk pace for 30 seconds.
Jog/walk at a slower pace for 2 minutes.
After your rest, shoot for another 30-second run/jog.
Continue until you get tired or after about ten “push/rest” intervals.
And BAM! You just did HIIT.
Don’t get disheartened if you find yourself stopping a lot during your first week of HIIT training.
You’ll be surprised how quickly you get better at this!
Also, “running” or “jogging” is subjective. Whatever walking fast means to you is great. Do that for your periods of intensity.
It should be noted, that the entire “Couch to 5K” concept rests on interval training through running.
It’s all broken down into “walking,” “jogging” and “running.”
If you’re curious, check out our in-depth Couch to 5k review. If you want to start interval training, “Couch to 5K” could be a good way to do it.
More of an indoor person?
Consider a treadmill, where it actually sets intervals for you based on your desired difficulty.
Just be careful on it…
We’ll be talking about machines a lot more in the next section, but a treadmill is all you need to do a HIIT workout.
Experiment with the speed and incline to find a setting that you would consider “intense.” Many machines can be programmed to flip between this and an “easy” setting.
And you know what that means… boom! It’s built for HIIT.
When we designed NF Journey (our awesome new app), we used an “intense” and “easy” interval switch for most of the workouts.
If you want, you can sign-up for a free trial right here to see what I mean:

How do HIIT Workouts Work? (More HIIT cardio to choose from)
There are a lot of different aerobic exercises for HIIT cardio.
For example, you could jump on a bike, which is like HIIT running but with wheels (duh):
Every spin class is based on HIIT cycling (SoulCycle, Flywheel, or even your local gym now has spin classes).
They’re popular for a reason, and you can make a friend or two!
Here are some more examples of interval training:
Elliptical. If it has a dial for resistance, it can be used for interval training. For a couple of minutes, go on low resistance (0-2 level). Then crank up the resistance for one minute (up to 8-10). Repeat this process 12 times, which will give you a 20-minute workout.
Stair Climber. Much like the elliptical, alternate between periods of low intensity for two minutes, then one minute for high intensity. The difference with the climber is the dial will control the speed of the stairs. Be careful.
Rowing machine. Start with a two-minute warm-up. On minute three, row like you’re being chased by the Kraken for a full 60 seconds. Then catch your breath. The rowing machine might be hard to do for a full 20 minutes, since it’s a lot of upper body. Shoot for ten minutes at first.
Jumping rope. Jumping rope is a full-body exercise. Also, it’s fun. There’s no dial here, your own body controls the pace of the jump. Follow the same two minute easy, one minute intense as above. Jump rope can also be done with friends!
So far we’ve just been talking about aerobic exercises.
Let’s cover our other categories, of bodyweight and resistance.
What Are the Best HIIT Exercises? (Two Other Forms of Interval Training)
“Steve, this all sounds great. But I hate running!”
Confession: So do I.
So I get my cardio in other forms!
Here are some bodyweight exercises to get going on HIIT:
Burpees. Stand up, then squat down, kick your legs out, do a push-up, bring your legs back in, and explode up into a jump. Try to do 20 repetitions, then rest for two minutes. Repeat until you hate yourself:
youtube
Push-ups. For 20 seconds, do as many push-ups as possible. Rest. Then do it again. If you’re worried about proper form, check out our push-up guide and watch this:
youtube
Pull-ups. Same idea as above, do pull-ups for 20 seconds, then rest. If you can’t do a pull-up, we got you covered in our pull-up progression guide:
youtube
Let’s now chat about some Weight Training Examples for HIIT:
Kettlebell swing. For ten minutes, do 20 kettlebell swings on every minute.
This will be intense, and worthy of congratulations when you’re done. Check out our 20 Minute Beginner Kettlebell Workout for everything you’ve ever wanted to know about kettlebells.
Battle ropes. If your gym has battle ropes, they’ll be a great tool for HIIT. For intensity, the amount of slack in the rope determines the load. The more slack on the rope the tougher, and more intense, the workout. Also, don’t get stuck in just up and down movements. Some variation will help target different muscles.
Weight lifting. The critical piece will be moving from one exercise to another quickly enough. For example, hustling from the bench press to the lat bar: we call this circuit training!
Yes, you can also do circuit training as a form of HIIT.
Circuit training is going through a sequence of exercises, or stations, back to back.
Push-ups to pull-ups, back to push-ups, only resting briefly from one exercise to another.
Circuit training would be perfect to mix into a HIIT workout, since you can design your circuit to be very intense.
Check out our post for 15 Circuit Training Routines to choose from.
Plus, there’s a Batman workout hidden in there. You’re welcome.
We create custom HIIT programs for busy people like you that are ACTUALLY fun. If you’re looking for a supportive coach to guide you and tell you exactly what to do each day, we got you covered!
Exercise doesn’t have to suck. Learn more about our coaching program!
If you just want a beginner circuit to get started with, you can try out our Beginner Bodyweight Workout Routine. Plus you can download a free worksheet to track your progress with this circuit when you join the Rebellion below:

Oh, what’s that? You want to have even MORE fun while getting the benefits of HIIT?
Sure. let’s think outside the box:
Basketball, tennis, soccer, and Ultimate (frisbee) are AMAZING styles of exercise that use interval training (it’s all start and stop!).
Run here, catch this, and wait for the next round to start.
That’s what we’re looking for in a HIIT workout.
So pick a form of FUN exercise that gets your heart racing faster and slower throughout the activity (yes, I suppose even THAT activity would count).
Is HIIT Good for Losing Weight? Is Interval Training Good for Losing Weight?
My guess is that you’re reading this article because you’re trying to get the most efficient “bang for your buck” when it comes to getting in shape.
And HIIT is a great form of exercise and COULD help with weight loss.
I will, however, lower some of these outlandish claims that exist in the media.
For example, Time magazine calls HIIT “miraculous” in one article.[9]
That’s a little much, even for me, who writes for a living on why you should work out and likes using hyperbole for effect.
Seriously, I’m better at it than ANYBODY ON THE PLANET.
Ahem.
Cardio, strength training, and HIIT all have many benefits.
HIIT deserves praise, but exercise, in general, deserves praise. As we discussed in our “Cardio vs HIIT vs Weights” post, all three forms of training have their place, and the best one for you is the one you actually do.
And strength training. Always strength training.
So to answer your question, is HIIT the secret and only weapon for weight loss?
Nah, it’s just great exercise.
And exercise is important.
But if you want to lose body fat, how you eat will be responsible for 80% of your success or failure.
This means that I don’t care how many intervals you do, it’s not gonna help you lose weight if you don’t also fix your nutrition.
You can read our Beginner’s Guide to Nutrition if you want more information.

3 Simple rules we follow every day to stay on target
Getting Started with Interval Training
When it’s time to advance your high-intensity interval training, think about the following:
Frequency. This would be the number of intervals in your workout.
Intensity. How hard are you going in each interval?
Time. How long are your intervals and rest periods?
Maybe you start out doing 3 intervals of intense running.
Once it becomes routine, bring it up to 4.
Maybe you crank the resistance on your stationary bike to “8” during your intense interval. When it becomes normal, bring it up to “10.”
Maybe you do pull-ups for 20 seconds. When you’ve got a good handle on that, aim for 30 seconds.
This mindset will keep you advancing in interval training.
Consistency is the name of the game here. Even just doing a HIIT workout once a week will help you progress in all three categories.
Want a program that adapts to your progress each month? Learn more:
Mistakes to Avoid When Doing High-Intensity Interval Training
There’s a lot to consider when embarking on a HIIT practice.
No matter which routine you end up starting with, make sure you follow these words of wisdom:
Ease into it. As the saying goes, “you must walk before you can run.” The importance is building a HIIT practice. If you need to go “less intense” before progressing to “intense,” that’s fine. It’ll help build your aerobic capabilities (endurance), which will be important when working on intensity. Start with walking.
Keep proper form. Doing your movements correctly will help prevent injury. Here’s how to run properly. This is even more critical in your later intervals, where you may be exhausted and tired. If you find yourself breaking form, go ahead and slow down. Intense isn’t worth an injury.
Get rest. Our bodies actually build muscle while we are resting. So take some “off days” from your HIIT practice. Want to stay active on these days? Do some fun exercise!
Take it easy, focus on your form, and make sure to prioritize rest.
HIIT Timer Recommendations
HIIT centers on doing intervals.
One moment it’s intense, the next you’re onto a short rest break.
A good way to know when it’s time to go from one sequence to the next is a timer. A loud “beep” can tell you when it’s okay to catch your breath or when you have to kick it in gear.
Here are 5 HIIT timers you can try out:
Runtastic. Don’t let the name fool you, this free app is for more than just running. You can customize for many different interval workouts, depending on what exercise you go with. And the interface looks slick.
Seconds. It’s free and customizable to any form of HIIT. It can also integrate with your music, which is pretty sweet.
Seven. If you’re new to HIIT, Seven would be a good app for you. It’s free, plus it has illustrations for exercises. You also get to customize your own virtual personal trainer, which may be the future of fitness. The bots are coming…
Sworkit. First off, it’s a clever name (taken from “Simply Work It.”) Second, it’s free. Third, it can display your workout, goals, and calories burned. I like it.
J&J Official Seven Minute Workout. This free app from Johnson & Johnson is actually really awesome. It has premade workouts you can choose form based on your fitness level, or tweak them to make it your own.
Also, we need to talk about interval timers. Most of the apps referenced are completely customizable.
For example, you can change the intense interval from 120 seconds to 90 seconds.
This is critical because it’s up to you to decide how long you can do intense vs. rest.
Generally, folks recommend one minute of intensity and then two for rest when doing HIIT.
However, this all depends on the individual, and exercises performed.
For example, burpees are tougher to do than jumping over a rope:
So feel free to make changes like 30 seconds of intensity and three minutes of rest. Make it your own.
Whatever way you chose to do HIIT, is fine, as long as you actually do it. The benefits of HIIT kick in when going HARD for you.
In other words, you don’t have to be an Olympic athlete to get the benefits of HIIT.[10]
A light jog totally works. Just don’t do it in a mascot costume.
As we discussed, if you’re consistent, you’ll improve.
So don’t stress about where you have to start.
For now, download an app and get going. Ours will help you train with HIIT too:

I hate multiple choice. Pick a HIIT workout for me!
Let’s power walk as our form of HIIT.
This is an example of a beginner HIIT workout we might prescribe for our Coaching Clients who are starting to train for their first 5K.
Let’s do seven intervals, two minutes each:
Warm-up. For three minutes, walk at an easy pace.
Intervals. For the first 60 seconds, power walk, like you’re trying to beat someone to the front of the line at Starbucks.
For the next 60 seconds, just walk.
Repeat six more times.
Cool down. You can do some more light walking, or a little bit of stretching here would be great.
Total time: 20 minutes.
I want to stress, that you can do just about any exercise in exchange for this routine. Just minus “power walk” and add “push-ups and bodyweight squats”
It’ll still be a great HIIT workout.
“But Steve, that’s still multiple choice!”
Right, right… sorry. Stick to power walking! Done!

Finding Cars For 70% Less Than Market Value
car leasing websites Find out as many details as opportunity. Some ads only specify online marketing retail price and not its residual value or vice-versa. Some details within the lease contract such to supplement monthly charges and mileage may be omitted altogether to enhance deal attractive on the fly. Many times the timely repayments are kept low to entice buyers but elements are then structured living in. They emerge as hidden costs and the punishment of paying them during the term in the payment alter out to get quite taxing. Car Leasing and buying are two similar yet different "finance products" are generally designed a variety of target groups; it can be an unfair statement if individual says if leasing will be the worst decision without knowing the situation of that car person. So let's compare Fiat Long Island and buy in these areas. Let's address these four C's piecemeal. Credit history- in our current world which usually is the 1 thing to spotlight. A good credit history will allow you to sign up the best deals around. This will allow for you to get stated income or no doc loans, recuperate interest rates, higher loan to value deals and so forth. Understanding how credit history works is probably the number one thing achievable do which will your investing career. Mentally and emotionally be prepared. If you haven't lived on your own, enthusiastic about Fiat Long Island scary and make you anxious. Prevent the lines of communication open with good friends. You may consider asking a sibling or friend keep over along with you on a night in your apartment. It will last away the anxiousness most likely feel. What time of the year you go to you will come across car largely depends upon your stipulation. However, most of the time, it is quite possible to put off buying cars for 4-5 months and even a year. There are certain periods like July to October and xmas days, available to get better best buys. The reason being that during July to October, dealers try their best to clear old stocks, which puts you in an advantageous relationship. During Christmas too, sale of cars registers a decline, energy are engrossed in buying other goods and gift items. If you also do it right, it's not really that hard start making thousands per period of time. It takes a while of in order to get a great deal speed and "fill inside pipe line", but because do.there certainly are a surprisingly variety of people making 50K to 100K a yr. and more than you feel are making multiple hundreds of thousands every 12 months and increasing. The upside seriously a unlimited.unlike the deli venture. When our society a car but ought not buy one, we can rent or lease only one. Leasing allows you to use a best auto lease deals for several weeks or months without being caught from a multi-year car deal. It is expensive with higher interest rates, nevertheless it's a choice if dissatisfaction a car but need one in brief. Rental cars can be rented during their visit or couple weeks, and they are a great option when you are visiting an urban area and wouldn't like to pay for taxis. Obviously, by having lease deals that are short, you may pay less on a previously owned car. Discover lowest lease deals, do some own car lease residual calculations on new car lease deals to see how much you will pay on monthly premiums. Having a less-valued car means less payments - and less of your budget out of your bank. Transferring a franchise is similar to transferring a lease. Actually the lease and franchise agreement as well as read the identical way. Read the franchise agreement and under important elements such as hidden costs, transfer, training, and remodeling, and the franchise fees. Know what kind of support to expect from the franchisor. Take good way your Fiat Long Island credit history and know your score before entering a car lot. There might be errors which hurt your rating once the dealer runs a look over. If you have time perform on your score, postponement on obtain. Take care of unpaid credit card bills that will be negatively impacting your score. Now, it is now time to uncover the car you need to lease. Possibly you have your heart set on the particular model, but a lot flexible you can be, superior deal you'll probably get. You should definitely test drive the car before creating a final decision; this additionally provide ample opportunity to schedule an appointment the dealership representative plainly and study the way he or she speaks and behaves. Are you comfortable with this man. Does he or she come off as shifty or untrustworthy? It's in order to understand get paranoid about car salespeople - they obtain a bad consultant. However, it's equally easy to trick yourself into thinking you're being weird. Follow your instincts. They're offering $3,000 cashback best auto lease deals OR 0% financing for 60 months on the 2008 Tribute Hybrids. My credit union is offering 5.25% to acquire a 60 month loan, or 3.75% to put together a 36 month loan. If i decided to get a 60 month loan, I'd break even simply paid journey loan at 51 12 weeks. Any shorter than that, and I'd be better off to take the $3,000. I was planning shell out it off in 4 years, so I'm to be able to squeeze my budget just a little more and take the 36 month loan at 3.75% belonging to the credit union and then take that $3,000 a cash return.
