I feel like people aren't getting it. In. The. Books. Perseus. Jackson. Is. An. Unreliable. Narrator. This goes for everything he thinks. Percy loves his mother, so he writes her praises. In the show we get to see what Sally does from an outside POV not filtered through a child that idolizes his mother. It's not ooc for Sally to act like she does in the show. she's a single mother raising a neurodivergent, Demigod, and she's scared that when the Gods get to him they'll corrupt him. She's not suddenly a girl boss we're getting to see her for how she is.
#percy jackson#sally jackson#“sHe sToOd uP tO gABe sHe wOuLdnT dO tHat' she did it because percy needed to get to montock so she could tell him about how hes a demigod#sally as a character will do anything for her son. gabe being abusive doesnt negate what she needs to. do for her son. in in the book the#second gabe was no longer needed she turned him into a statue and sold him to to the highest bidder. she was putting up with the abuse for#percys sake. and this is then woman that grebbed a gun and started fighting in the battle of Manhattan. shes not weak. you can be two things#she can be motherly and strong. and obviously she has her douts. she thinks shes failing. she called posiden when it was too much and he#reassured her she was doing her best and she needs to do what she thinks is best. and we are only seeing some scenes#we're seeing whats relevant to the plot and whats relative is sally preparing Percy. and she obviously cares for her son and her son for her#she has to be a good mother cus percy is literally going to the underworld to save her. just stfu about the book#ive read the books to but some of you are awful. like no adaptation is to the letter. somethings had to be cut or glossed over and some are#changed because money or that a book is a different medium then a show or movie! you cant do everything cus its impossible.#were in a completely different pov. we're not in Percys head seeing his thoughts.#pjo series#pjo#pjo tv show#percy jackson and the olympians#percy series#batcavescoloy watches the PJO tv show#batcavescolony watches

When Thunder stays with Clear Sky for a while, does Clear ever insist on referring to him as Thunder Sky?
Towards the end yes, as the final detail to Thunder Storm that Clear Sky doesn't love him. He wants to ERASE him.
If Clear Sky recognizes he's made a mistake in casting Bright Storm away with their child, he's incapable of seeing it was wrong because it was cruel. He wants what he realizes he threw away, because he now sees it has value. He wants to own his oldest son the way he wants to own the entire forest-- as a reflection of his greatness.
Anything that makes Clear Sky uncomfortable about Thunder Storm has to be sanded down. The assertiveness was the first thing, he feels insecure when he's challenged, the child must learn to follow before he may learn to lead.
The second is that leg, presenting a prosthetic as a gift (that he isnt allowed to refuse), because he can't have been wrong about the choice that killed his younger brother-- here is a SOLUTION that simply didn't exist before! Behold how resourceful and wealthy his cats are, compared to your old group. We've fixed you.
(This prosthetic is a clunky piece of shit that is annoying to strap on every day, gets in the way and makes a ton of noise, and itches like hell, but the change in Clear's demeanor is immediate if Thunder doesn't wear it.)
But somehow, Thunder Storm was willing to take all of that. In hindsight, it bothers him that the tipping point wasn't the other two things.
Bright Storm gave her son her own last name. When Clear Sky sent them away and the Mountain Cats permanently split, it was pointed. "My only survivor is named for myself." SHE would raise him, alone.
Bright Storm herself slowly seemed to lose sight of the meaning, encouraging him to understand his father's good aspects, but in the meanwhile it took on a new meaning to Thunder. His mother raised him. He found a father in Shaded Flower. He grew up next to Lightning Cry and Acorn Swoop. Thunder Storm means this. It's the person he made himself, and the love they've all put into him.
Thunder SKY is just another monument to Clear Sky, stripping away the life he lived without him. And WHY? For ego? For comfort?
"What am I letting him DO to me?!"
It wasn't the final STRAW, but it was the tipping point. Once Thunder Storm had this realization, the minute he was not going to budge on something, that confrontation was inevitable. The blowout fight was making reservations.
Sunlit Frost is still the breaking point, the injury from his burn going sour, but I'm going to emphasize the way that Clear Sky only called that meeting in the first place as an abuse game. Thunder Storm knew it was coming-- but it still sickens him that it was something THIS monstrous.

Alan Wake (whose face and voice we find on Thomas Zane and Casper Darling, respectively) ends up in an antagonistic relationship with Alex Casey (whose face and voice we find on Sam Lake and Zachariah Trench, respectively).
Casper Darling and Zachariah Trench? By the end, their relationship was antagonistic.
The Casey-Trench voice was once a guide-friend for Wake-Darling.
And then, they were fighting.
One was suspicious of the other, thinking he was lying, hiding something.
While the other was unaware of the darkness that was growing and consuming the former's mind, his ignorance letting it fester. Feeding it, even.
The original faces, Thomas Zane and Sam Lake? In this latest iteration they've spoken with their own voices while in the Dark Place, only in the presence of a camera.
Alan Wake and Zachariah Trench? In the end, while in a nightmare dimension, both get shot by a woman who both of these men meddled in their lives, threatening the well being of their loved one.
At least one had a hand in his fate, willing it, accepting it. The other? He was fully gone, his will overtaken by the nightmare.
A version of Alex Casey did say it after all. He and writer, they were the same.
And finally, the real Sam Lake? By happenstance he offered his face for a collaborative project, and became a symbol. Even if he tried to fight it, tried to replace it, he had to concede. The story demanded it, as if writing it wasn't enough, the narrative claimed his visage.
There's no need to make overt mentions or put the image of the Ouroboros in posters. The serpent is interwoven in the fabric of the narrative itself.

Day 10: Fortune
“I know what that means,” Voldamort snapped. “Move on.”
To eir credit, ey did, and didn’t even look at it again. Voldamort, though, had to wrench his gaze away from it in order to focus on what ey was saying regarding the Entrance card.
Two of Cups. Only a tarot deck would dare to be so blithe with him.

i have genuinely so many thoughts about how the book Lieutenant Hornblower was adapted and how most of the changes work, when accounting for the fact it must necessarily leave Bush's POV in order to work as television, and how those changes end up fucking over Bush's character in the movies, and how he was further pilfered by the series' decision to maintain characters like Styles and Kennedy. There is so much going on in there. Unfortunately, I don't yet own a copy of Lieutenant Hornblower, and having to constantly borrow it from my library is a faff and prevents me using post its to mark important passages. :(
#i also last read lt hornblower over a year ago at this point#analysing the intersection of bush and kennedy is particularly ripe since kennedy DOES NOT EXIST in that book#and barely exists in the book prior. he's in two chapters. he has like 5 lines of dialogue. he probably gets killed in france#but in Lt you can understand the impulse! because other than bush and buckland? there are two other lts who arent important#so scrapping them in favour of an existing character you cobbled together for the series? yeah! yeah!!!#but they can't give archie the fate of either of the scrapped lts. bc itd be utterly ignomious#one of them gets cut in half by a cannonball. the other dies offscreen during the prisoners revolt on the renown#so they shift the circumstances of the firsts' death to a sequence with bush (the anchor thing)#and they alter the latter to remove archie from canon before he completely breaks the events of Hotspur#but THEY ALSO take actions from bush! and give them! to archie!#and it has a marked effect on bush's character in those two movies!#and when loyalty/duty are more “faithful” to the books re: bush's characterisation its jarring!#*shaking the books* i have so many thoughts#hornblower#“what does styles have to do with it” changes how he relates to the crew.#also they give the cradling bush scene to styles instead of horatio which is Funny as hell but also ;-;#it has a completely different tone but thats the stand in! for horatio calling for him tenderly!#but they couldn't give that scene to horatio because he was about to have a similar thing with archie. :(

i swear
the good omens fandom is its own worst enemy
it doesn't matter if i've come across the cutest fanart that made me scream cry throw up and squeal, or read a headcanon/wip that made me giggle uncontrollably because of how cute it was
because the next post after that one is one of the most angst-filled, emotionally devastating, analytical dives into the plot and tragedy of the characters that makes me scream cry and throw up in utter defeat
(and don't even get me started on the angsty fanart. I am NOT strong enough to see so much pain and devastation yet still be completely enraptured by its beauty)

mmmm not to be a blubbery little bitch or anything but “my life started that day i found you in the woods” being the thing mike jumps to to try and convince el that he genuinely loves her is because that’s what he did with will in s2 and it worked even though mike was holding back his deepest feelings. he’s lying in both scenes by pretending he loves will and el in different ways than he actually does

breaking my silence for a bit...mike’s awareness about his feelings for will is something i can still debate on, but honestly if you think he's still somewhat “confused” between will and el you’re like 100 steps behind on the plot sorry
