Quick-ish Guide to Using the New Post Editor and Cutting Replies
Hi folks! Tumblr has finally made it to where any new blogs created from this point forward will be defaulted to the NFP(new) post editor, and the option for the legacy editor is no longer available. Honestly, major bummer and a not-so-small inconvenience for many of us in the RPC. That being said, I have found a workaround that has far worked for me personally, and I'd like to share it with you guys in the hopes that helps anyone having to use a new blog to enjoy some tumblr roleplaying!
The very first step you'll want to take pretty much as soon as you create the blog, will be to reach out to staff in regards to permission for using javascript on your new blog. This tends to take a bit for them to process, but it's essential when it comes to customizing your theme, muse, connections, and plots pages. That being said, you can still roleplay just as well without these aspects either while you wait or just as a default. Everyone chooses to run their blog's aesthetic in whatever way works for them! You may find a detailed guide on contacting staff about this matter at the following link: https://glenthemes.tumblr.com/post/683796810867900416/using-javascript-on-tumblr-pages-how-to-ask
Now, onto the matter of cutting replies!
Step one: Get the X-Kit Rewritten extension installed on your browser! New X-Kit will not work with the new editor in any way that will allow for editable reblogs the way that we're used to. And honestly, even X-Kit Rewritten won't allow for this either (at least as of now) but it will help in allowing the cutting of posts so that the dash remains legible for all. This extension will show up on the browser where any other extensions do, as opposed to dashboard header. You'll be able to customize all the options you'd like, but for the purposes of this guide, you'll want to ensure you enable the 'Trim Reblogs' feature (for context, I'm using Firefox as the browser here)
Tumblr media
Step two: Cutting replies!
So once the proper X-Kit has been installed, it's on to replies. The cutting of replies is in itself a multi-step process, but much like with previous workarounds that have had to be employed, once you've done it a few times, it gets easier to go through.
First, you'll want to locate the post you want to reply to. I find it easier to work with posts if they're in my drafts, but this is totally a personal preference. You do you! The important bit is to ensure that the trim button is showing at the bottom of the post, near the reblog/edit button
Tumblr media
If this button is not showing up on the post in question, it is not able to be trimmed. This can happen if the post is too new, and the reply will show the 'og' post at the top, but this usually stops after at least one reblog has been made
DO NOT CLICK THIS AT THIS TIME! The temptation will be there, and it's honestly just intuitive to believe that this is the next logical step, but it -in usual tumblr fashion- is not lol
Second, you'll want to go ahead and open the post for editing. Yes, both previous replies will still be there, but at this time you can go ahead and add your reply as you normally would beneath them
Tumblr media
As an additional note on adding image media, I've personally found that the best way to avoid having your gif/image/icon come up as a linked item in the final post, is to save the image to your computer and upload it into the post using the 'add image' feature in the editor
Third, once you're happy with your reply, you'll want to save the draft. Some folks save back to their drafts, I prefer to lick 'add to queue' just as a habit to keep tumblr from posting something before I'm ready for it to be posted lol Regardless, you'll want to find the newly saved draft which will contain (at minimum) three replies and should still be showing the 'trim' button
Tumblr media
Now is the time to click this button. It should lead to the following screen:
Tumblr media
You'll want to select the trail items or previous posts that you want to trim, and the click on trim. NOTE: this will usually trim both of the previous replies, making the only visible reply your newest addition, but it will keep it on the same thread for the other writer to find
If the 'root' or starter for the thread was written with the legacy editor -which so far, majority will be- you'll first receive this message prior to the option to trim:
Tumblr media
You'll want to just click on continue and proceed with the steps above but, you'll also want to follow the...
Fourth step! Once you've gone through the trimming process, go ahead and refresh the entire browser tab/window you're working in and scroll to locate the newly trimmed reply to verify that the trimming went according to planned.
NOTE: I've personally found that the trimming appears to have worked as intended immediately following the steps, but once I refresh the page or navigate away and back to my queue it shows my new reply doubled. Though this may only be something that occurs with newer threads where the ‘root’ post will be shown for the first couple of reblogs
Tumblr media
At this point I've found you don't really have to repeat the trim action. You can simply click the 'edit' button and delete the 'bottom' reply. Once saved, the reply will then show as intended for posting
Tumblr media
Fifth, is just acceptance. It's not what we're used to, but it'll do for now. AND, as small consolation, the new editor does let you edit your tags. Like you can legit click on a tag that you may have mistyped, and you can edit right there without having to delete the whole tag and retype it...#awinisawin

Check In Tag!
I was tagged by @siancyaniam. Thank you!
Why did you choose your URL?
Once upon a time, a very long time ago now, I discovered role-playing in a furry community back when I had not even a concept of what ‘furry’ meant. I ran a role-playing guild there for a while, based on FFVIII, and at one point I ran a contest to name the world. My own submission was: K’tarianen - which did not win the votes. Since it wasn’t going to be used there, I’ve since used various forms of it for my online nicknames, or sometimes character names.
How long have you been on tumblr?
One of my first posts on this blog was actually the Pattern Hoarder Tutorial, which was made in Jan. 2017. So... about five and a half years now? I actually do have a personal tumblr that I almost never look at anymore, which was created at least five years before that.
Do you have a queue tag?
I do not. Nearly everything I post runs through my queue or is scheduled though.
Why did you start your blog in the first place?
I started it in order to post the Pattern Hoarder Tutorial in a place where it could be seen and would not soon disappear or be lost. Patterns used to be the only CC I actually used, and I hadn’t found a tutorial for multi-layer (or multi-color channel) patterns, so I wanted to share what I’d figured out with everyone else.
These days I consider that I ought to turn it into PDF’s so that it could be easily uploaded anywhere. Perhaps someday I’ll make time for that.
Why did you choose your icon/pfp?
My icon is a crop of a photo of my simself. Perhaps someday I’ll change it, but I’m fairly satisfied with it.
Why did you choose your header?
Uh. I don’t think I have a header.. do I? *goes to look* OH. I do. LMAO. It’s the music room of the Olijar mansion which I spent far too much time on and was extremely pleased with when I had finished. They’re supposed to be the main family in my main save, but I think so far they’ve actually had less ‘screen time’ than some of the other households.
What’s your post with the most notes?
Perhaps unsurprisingly, a tips post I made forever ago with things I find very valuable knowledge in-game.
How many mutuals do you have?
I have... not the faintest idea, honestly. I did a google search to figure out how to find that out, but met only with more confusion.
How many followers do you have?
Looks like the current count is 880, for whatever that’s worth. As a note, I don’t really keep track, nor do I check to see if people unfollow me, nor do I spend time to try to block people who might be inactive, bots, etc.
How many people do you follow?
458 currently. I feel like this number used to be higher, but probably some blogs were lost to Tumblr’s shenanigans, and some people deleted their blogs. I follow almost exclusively blogs who post TS3 content, as it’s the only game in the series I’ve yet played, but I do follow a few TS2 blogs. I’m also pretty picky in that I require posts to be properly tagged, for there not to be too many of them all the time, and usually for there to not be too many CC reblogs. I follow most creators directly, and a few CCfinds blogs in case I miss things, and don’t like to constantly see the same thing over and over again on my dash. Which I actually do keep up with most of the time.
Have you ever made a shitpost?
Uh. I think someone would have to define for me what a shitpost is before I could answer this question. xD I have heard the term a lot, but don’t actually know what it means, precisely. (When you use sarcasm to call something out?)
How often do you use tumblr every day?
Typically, every day. Though some days get skipped if I am too busy. And a few times, several months were skipped due to life taking over.
Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? who won?
I try to keep any disagreements I might have with other members of the sims 3 fandom on tumblr to private disagreements. Publicly posted arguments tend to blow up far too quickly and can result in unwanted consequences.
How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts?
Emotional manipulation has long been a tactic to get people to spread things they’d otherwise ignore. It doesn’t really work on me. I’ll reblog it if I feel the message is worth sharing, and appropriate to my blog, or important enough to be shared here regardless of what it’s about.
Do you like tag games?
I think tag games are kinda fun, I just rarely find the time to participate in them. ^-^;;
Do you like ask memes?
Since most of my gameplay is strictly gameplay without any well defined stories to accompany them, I usually don’t have much to say for ask memes. Sometimes they’re fun! Sometimes I just have no clue what I’d say.
Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
Since, to my surprise, a lot of the creators I follow actually also follow me, I’d say there’s quite a few, so I won’t bother name-dropping.
Do you have a crush on a mutual?
I’m long past the age of crushes. xD They’re also very rare for me.
Ill tag: @murfeelee @simlicious @simsmono

Jamil with a doting and loving little sister
why the fuck does this exist- i dont fucking know
Spoilers for Scary Halloween Event ahead!
“Karin!” A young girl with long, dark hair yelled. “Please don’t run!”
“Eh? But aren’t you excited to see your big brother, Aniq?” Karin shot back, her loose, white hair flitting through the air. “I can’t wait to see what Scarabia’s doing for Halloween this year~!”
“I am too, but...” Aniq forcefully pulled Karin back, leaving Aniq to pout. “I can’t have you ruining the Asim family name looking like that.”
“Eh? But I’m the 12th, it’s not that important.” Karin dragged out, dramatically walking back towards her right-hand (wo)man/best friend. Pouting, she reluctantly let Aniq tidy her appearance- carefully tying the whit turban back in place, tugging the aqua-blue sleeveless top so it covers her decently, making sure the matching colored parachute pants reach her bottoms and shining the golden jewel that rests on her sandals it’s Jasmine.
“There, much better.” Aniq gave her a once over, satisfied at the appearance. “Wait, let me do yours too!” Karin insisted, roughly cleaning Aniq’s image.
“Ah, don’t-” Aniq gave up, letting the girl do as she pleased- well, it’s not like anyone can see them, right? Just in case, Aniq gave the room they were in (Karin’s room) a onceover, glad that nothing was amiss.
In contrast to Karin, Aniq wore a very simple black cloak that draped gracefully over her shoulders and a collared, midi-length, grey dress that has buttons running its entire length. For a pop of color, orange, curly-toed shoes line her feet (it’s a witch)
“There~ you look better, see?” Karin grinned. “Now we can both look good!”
“Well, I guess... thanks.” Aniq replied, twirling around. “Well then, my lady, shall we go?” She teasingly asked, offering Karin an arm.
“But of course. We can’t have our brother’s anxiously wait for our arrival, can’t we?” Karin answered in kind, looping her arm in hers.
“They don’t even know we’re coming, how are they supposed to wait?” Aniq sighed. “I wonder if this is really ok...”
“It’s fine, chill. My dad already said ok, and I forced your parents to take you with me!” Karin casually replied, stepping out of the room. A glare from Aniq made her soften her voice.
"You and your abuse of power...” Aniq sighed. “If my parents knew I told you to...”
“Hihihi... ahh, just relax already! We’re going to have fun, and you are prohibited from being anxious, do you understand?! This is a command straight from the master herself, okay?!” Karin commanded, booping Aniq’s nose.
“Hai hai~” The two of them laughed good-naturedly, chatting light-heartedly about other things.
*
"Woah!” Karin exclaimed. “Is this what NRC looks like when it’s Halloween?! It looks so cool...!”
“I know right?!” Aniq noticed a man with what seems like bandages, but made into clothes on him. “Oh, there’s a guy sitting there- let’s ask him for the directions of the Scarabia dorms- oh wait, isn’t that the dorm leader of Octavinelle?”
“Hmm, maybe? I think I remember someone looking like that when we came here last year.” Karin hummed, walking placentally towards the guy. “Excuse me, do you know where the Scarabia venues are?”
"Oh, welcome and happy Halloween. Yes, they are located in the Mystery shop.” Azul explained. “Do you have anything else to add?”
“No, that’s all. Thank you, and happy Halloween!” Aniq replied, flashing him a quick thank you smile before leaving with Karin.
“Eh, you remember the way?”
“Duh~ I mean, do I not have good memory?” Aniq flexed lightly, grinning.
“Oh yeah, you helped me cheat on that test one time-”
“Ahhh shaddup don’t talk about that!”
“Eh- but you’re the that brought up the topic!” Karin argued back.
“No, you did! I didn’t say a word about tests!”
“Oh yeah.. ahaha...”
“Ah, what am I going to do with you?” Aniq sighed, shaking her head and smiling.
*
“There they are- oh...” Aniq’s spirit dissipated after seeing to long, long line that stood in front of the Mystery Shop. “H...how are we supposed to find big bro and Kalim-san now...?”
“Ahh, I don’t know...” Karin echoed, sighing sadly. “But I’m so lazy to wait in line...”
“I’ll wait for you, you go do something else.” Aniq suggested. “I think we passed a haunted house or something. You love those things, right?”
“Yup, thanks Aniq! Karin playfully teased, pressing her lips on Aniq’s cheek. “See ya!”
Aniq blushed deeply, but managed to wave her off. “Honestly, that girl...!” She grunted under her breath, a little bothered. “She’s way too affectionate...”
Aniq aligned herself in the queue, looking around. It certainly is more crowded then last year. I wonder why- oh, right, because of that picture of the ghosts and the cat. Ahh, I kind of want to see the cat... it looks so cute! She thought, smiling at the thought. And the cute girl too... I wonder why there’s a girl in NRC? Ah well, I can ask big bro, can’t I?
She grinned happily at the thought and accidentally overheard the chatter of a few people.
“Ahh, I wonder what angles I should take for the waffle?” Girl A pondered, asking her friend.
“I think from up high is good because the lighting is better. That way, the post will definitely get more likes.” Girl B answered, concluding Girl A’s response.
“Hey, are we going to actually eat the waffle? No, right? It’s so annoying to walk around holding this around...” Girl A sighed, hesitantly looking at the waffle store.
“But it says not to throw it here...eh, I’m sure its fine since everyone is doing it too!”
“Right, right!” The two continued chattering, but Aniq’s eyes went straight for the trash can.
She glanced at the pile of waffles and containers surrounding the trash can. Ahh, I don’t think big bro is going to enjoy that... She spotted several caterpillars and slugs on the trash can and sighed. Most definitely not.
Silently, quietly, she muttered a spell: Spread your wings, and turn the ugly to good.
After a few seconds, the pile of trash became a flight of butterflies, which quickly dissapeared and flitted into the air, along with the caterpillars and slugs.
“Woah, the trash just dissapeared! Is that the way they clean the trash?” Girl A gasped, shaking Girl B by the shoulders.
“So pretty! Let’s throw some more trash so we can see it again! Maybe if we put it on Magicam it’ll become viral!” Girl B added.
That’s not what I meant to do! “Don’t-” The word slipped out before Aniq could stop herself. The two strangers in front of her glared at her.
“Have you been eavesdropping on us? That’s rude.”
“Ah- I’m sorry, but I couldn’t help it when you said that you’d continue littering.” She countered calmly.
“Why not? It doesn’t hurt anyone, right?”
“Well, there is a sign clearly indicating that you shouldn’t throw trash, but if you ignore that, then yes, the actions you did obviously have no impact at all.” She chastised sarcastically, pointing towards the sign.
“Ahh, so annoying! Let’s just wait for the waffles another time. I’m tired of waiting in line anyway.” Girl A said, shooting a dirty glance at Aniq, which she subtly ignored.
“Yeah.. oh, let’s go to Savanaclaw! Maybe the rumor that...” The 2 customers walked away, letting Aniq take their place.
**
2 people away from my order... come on, hurry up! Aniq thought impatiently. Ah, shit, where’s Karin?
She hurriedly pulled out her phone and called. After precisely 3 rings, Karin’s cheery voice rang from the other side.
Hello?
Is everything okay on your end?
Ehh, are you worried~?
When am I never worried? Aniq deadpanned.
That’s true, yeah. I’m okay! I took a picture with THE Malleus Draconia, can you believe it?! I mean, there were these people who tried touching him, but I got a brain, so I didn’t do that.
Heh?! Really? Woah, they have some guts! Aniq replied in surprise.
“Next.” She stepped forward one step, noticing that the server had some wolf ears attached to them. Hmm, I don’t remember Scarabia students having animal ears... it’s probably for the costume.
Oh, and I found the cute girl in the picture you were talking about!
Eh, did you find the cat and the ghosts too?! Send me the pictures ya! Aniq reminded her.
Yup, will do~ Karin replied fleetingly. They were swarmed with people haha! I pitied them, so I just... watched as the throng of people overwhelmed them. The people were saying something about the Malleus Draconia challenge, or something.
Eh, really? What’s it about?
Like, they have to film them touching him. Isn’t that crazy?
Well, more like moronic but yeah, I guess. I heard a few people talk about Magicam here too. ‘Let’s upload the waffle pictures! It’ll definitely get a lot of likes!’ then they throw it away! So stupid, right? Karin snorted.
...Are there people in the area-
Oh shit-
Oh my god you dumbass- Aniq could hear her friend laugh. Well, order some waffles for me, okay? I’m headed over there right now.
Aight then, bye!
Bai bai~
Click.
“Next, please!” The Scarabia student called, prompting Aniq to eagerly step forward, happy to see her big brother-
“Oh, is that you, Aniq?” Kalim cheerfully asked, prompting Aniq to quickly bow.
“Ah, Kalim-sama!” Kalim laughed.
“Raise your head up, jeez! I told you over and over you don’t need to do that, ya know~” Kalim lectured playfully, resulting in a quiet giggle from Aniq.
“Yes, master!” She inclined, using her left hand as a salute. “Can I take a picture- after I order, of course!”
“Sure!” Kalim agreed. “So, what do you want?”
“2 NRC waffles, please.” Kalim cringed at the word. “You’re going to actually eat it, right~?”
“Of course! What’s the point of buying food you’re not going to eat?” She casually answered back.
“Don’t be so casual, Aniq.” Jamil’s voice floated through the booth. She grinned once she saw him.
“Big bro!” Jamil was quick to give her a head pat, which she radiated from. “Aha, sorry... it slips out sometimes.”
“Hmm.” Jamil replied. “Kalim, the residents of Scarabia are asking for your help. Can you handle it by yourself?”
Kalim nodded, putting a thumbs up. “Leave it to me!” He then left to help with whatever needed to be done.
Aniq eyed her big brother. “Oh, you’re donned in a costume too, big bro.”
“All vice-dorm leaders and leaders are required to wear the costumes.”
“Oh, did you make it, big bro?” Jamil shook his head.
“No, Vil did- Pomefiore dorm leader.”
“Ahhh, you mean the pretty guy in charge of the mirror of chambers?” Jamil nodded. “I saw it on one of the flyers plastered on the walls.”
"Ah, that makes sense. Ah, Aniq.”
“Mhmm?”
“Can you guess the theme of our dorm venue? I’ll add in a special treat if you guess it right.” Jamil teased, watching his sister’s eyes light up.
“Really?! Well, um...” Her eyes quickly darted to take in the surroundings. The ragged carpet draped across the trees and roofs, with lanterns hanging from the trees. “Well, it’s very LHS (Land of Hot Sands)… oh!” She gasped, clicking her fingers. “Is it recyclable material? The carpets are made out of rags, and the lanterns out of reusable plastic.”
Jamil hummed, genuinely pleased. “You’re right.” Aniq beamed at the praise. ““I assume you’re with Karin?” He questioned.
“Mhmm, but she’s in the haunted house, or wherever Malleus Draconia is in. ”Oh, by the way, bro, what’s with the trash piling in front of the station? Are people really just buying the waffles to take pictures on Magicam?” Aniq asked, watching his eyebrows furrow.
"Unfortunately.” Jamil sighed. handing her the cones. "We tried telling them off, but they wouldn’t listen. They also bugged with Kalim’s tail.” Jamil smiled smugly, giving her the scones back. “Oh, and thank you for the trash.”
“Ah, you saw, big bro?” She asked happily. Jamil shook his head. “You shouldn’t be using your UM so casually.”
“I know, I know, but it did help, right?” She grinned, but before she could continue, someone behind her whispered: “Oh my god she’s taking so long!”
“Oh, right!” Aniq quickly realized. “Um, chocolate for me and Mint choc-chip for Karin.”
“Of course.” Jamil got right to it, taking the wrappers from their containers.
“How’s everything going, big bro?” Jamil raised an eyebrow at the question. “You know what I mean, with Kalim-sama... and everything.” Aniq asked, staring straight at her brother, who sighed deeply.
"Don’t say that out in public.”
“But I’m worried! You’re doing okay, right?” Aniq frowned.
“It’s been... decent. He still treats me like a friend, no matter how many times I shrug him off. It’s annoying.” Jamil hissed, putting more force then usual when putting the waffles. “I’m just thankful nobody- except you- knows about this back home.”
“Ahaha... Kalim-sama is always like tha-” Her phone rang, interrupting her talk.
Hell-
ANIQ SOMETHING HAPPENED!
Jamil, well understanding the circumstances, quickly handed her the waffles, mouthing ‘For free.’ Aniq grinned in thanks and waved goodbye, walking away.
What happened?!
I found this cute guy, and- Aniq wanted to slap her.
Oh my god, I thought you were in ACTUAL trouble you dumbass!
Hehe- anyways I found this really cute guy and he’s got ears and- OH MY GOD HE’S COMING MY WAY- oh nevermind he’s walking away...
Aniq couldn’t help but laugh at her friend’s simping level. I’ll be there right away. Maybe we can get you to score a date with him.
so basically lads
Aniq (which means classy in Arabic haha see what I did there): Jamil’s younger sister
Karin (a play on the Kalim’s name): Kalim’s younger sister

SociRobotic Review
Tumblr media
SociRobotic, Why should you look for traffic other than Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, And Twitter? Yes, we agree that the top four social media platforms have the most users (almost 6.3 billion in total), thus your target demographic is likely to be concentrated here. But there’s one thing you should be aware of: the competition is fierce.
Everyone is concentrating on these top four because the professionals say you should. They also overlook the fact that there are alternative social media platforms with tens of thousands, if not millions, of daily users.
The easiest way to outsmart your competition as a savvy business owner is to be where they are, but also be where they are not. In that manner, you’ll take 100% of the platforms they overlook while cutting your own share from the platforms they focus on. Consider how much traffic you’d get if you used all 11 social media platforms.
The big problem: Managing all 11 platforms at once Is a lot of work; One of the most difficult aspects of utilizing social media traffic is the amount of time it takes. It takes a lot of effort to administer only one platform, so picture what it will take to handle eleven.

In the “Publish all” section, you can write your post from here and publish it to your favorite sites. You can upload any kind of media including photos, videos, links, or text. To post it directly, just click the “Post now” button. Or else you can choose to schedule.
Switching between platforms can be done with ease by just clicking at the icon of the social media you want to post to.
You can do that separately with each social media platform. For example, here I am writing my post for Facebook Also, you are able to add as many accounts as you like.
Similarly with any other platforms including Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, Tumblr, and Reddit.
As I have mentioned before, you can schedule your posting. Free to check the posting calendar in the Schedules section. Everything is laid out logically, which makes it so easy to keep track.
Another feature that I like is that SociRobotic allows you to upload files from your Drive, Dropbox, or Cloud. You can see all of your files here.
You can also add and write a new caption. Just type in the caption box and click the Submit button below
One more thing that is extremely useful is that you can add watermarks to your post. All you need to do is upload the picture you want to make your watermark, adjust its size, position, transparency and finally save it. Then you have your watermark. How easy and simple.
MY OPINION:
SociRobotic allows you to add multiple profiles from various platforms and schedule social media updates at your leisure or utilizing a queue with times that you set.
You can configure the listening stream to display whatever profiles/hashtags you desire at any given time. From the news feed, you can reply, assign posts, forward posts, retweet, and retweet with comments.
They can also integrate with sponsored adverts, although we don’t utilize them for that. I like that you can view an upcoming post calendar so I can know if there are any holes in our schedule.
The dashboard is simple to use and offers a variety of views, including a calendar, so you can see whether you have a lot of messages that need to be spaced out. The SociRobotic All-Stars Slack channel is another source of information and support.
SociRobotic also has incredibly detailed reporting for each platform, which has given me a better understanding of how our accounts and postings are performing. It’s been quite beneficial. I used to always forget to publish before, but this has made it much easier to prepare ahead!
Who should buy it?
You’re already aware of SociRobotic’s ability to assist you with your internet business. It doesn’t matter if you’re a marketer, a realtor, a coach, or if you sell digital downloads, eCommerce products, or other services.
However, if you truly wanted to boost SociRobotic’s earning potential and establish a separate full-time income with only part-time effort, you could use SociRobotic to run your own posting service for both online and offline businesses.

Sorry to ask this, but what are your thoughts on Dunky's "I'm Done Making Good Videos" with regards to content you aspire to author vs what the average joe actually searches for
I don’t know if I’m the best person to be asking this, really.
Let’s get fully inside baseball here. Let’s pull the curtain all the way back. Actually, let’s burn down the curtain. I’m going to overshare like hell right now. Get ready for the most stream-of-consciousness rambling ever, because a lot of this has been boiling in my head and dying to get out.
For the entirety of my Youtube channel, I’ve pretty much only ever done what I want to do. Very rarely do I chase trends, or do what’s hot, or even do what people want me to do. I do whatever I feel like doing.
I have paid the price for that. My Youtube channel is 15 years old as of this year, and only now am I slowly inching towards 25,000 subscribers. I am incredibly inconsistent. What’s my channel post? Well, a couple times a year, maybe I put together an edited essay/review for a game. But I also sometimes post random, unedited, uncommentated gameplay footage. Maybe it’s a fan game, maybe it’s a gameplay demo, maybe it’s Fortnite. Sometimes, I also post remastered video game music. Every Halloween, I dump a bunch of one-off horror Let’s Plays on to my channel. And then, there’s the podcast.
I know exactly what my problems are. I don’t specialize enough, and I don’t put content out fast enough. Because most Youtube channels are, like, “shows”, right. The Did You Know Gaming show. The Markiplier show. The Angry Video Game Nerd show. And you can point at those and say exactly what they are in two sentences or less.
Did You Know Gaming specializes in informative videos uncovering obscure facts you might not know about popular video games.
Markiplier is a Youtuber that does Let’s Play videos for video games, primarily horror games, but he also focuses on general comedy skits and things of that nature.
The Angry Video Game Nerd is about one guy’s over the top reactions to bad video games.
What does BlazeHedgehog do? Well, he does a lot of Sonic fan content, but sometimes he does horror let’s plays, and sometimes he does multiplayer compilation videos sort of like Criken, but he also does music, and sometimes he makes video games and puts out videos of that, and in general he’s really low energy and sometimes there will be three or four weeks between uploads. Also he sounds like Booger from Revenge of the Nerds Snot from Family Guy (apparently).
If you come to my channel for something specific, you have to put up with everything else I upload. I could start separate channels for that content, but the barrier to entry on Youtube is so massive now that I would effectively sending those channels to their death. Videos that get 200-500 views on my main channel would get 10 views or less if they were on their own self-contained alt-channel.
So I languish. I struggle. I suffer. Youtube shows me red down arrows to tell me just how much worse I’m doing now than my last flash-in-the-pan success.
I’ve tried to chase success. It just makes me sad. I have a sense of humor, but I don’t think I can make “funny videos” like some people can. My Sonic 06 glitch video did gangbusters ten years ago, but I don’t often like kicking games when they’re down. It was a struggle to make that Sonic Boom glitch montage and that’s the reason I never followed through with Part 2 like I said I would.
My only wish is that people appreciate honesty. My Youtube channel might be a scattered mess, but that’s who I am. And more than anything, I think that’s what Dunkey’s video was about. His whole joke was about switching from thoughtful or funny videos to becoming a content farm for whatever is currently popular.
I’ve brought it up a few times here and there over the last few months, but I’ve had several brushes with the Fortnite side of Youtube recently. And there are so many dudes over there who are what I would generously call “grifters.” I follow Hypex on Twitter and routinely check Firemonkey and ShiinaBR because they datamine future Fortnite updates and often have the scoop days, weeks or sometimes months in advance.
Near the end of season 3, all three of them mentioned they had datamined “the next season” but wouldn’t say what it was because they didn’t want to spoil what was coming (the marvel season). They mentioned there were “others out there” that were spoiling things, but wouldn’t say who. I wanted to spoil myself, so I turned to Youtube.
And Youtube was a nightmare. Over and over and over, I would encounter tons of people downright thriving on the same grift. It’s an open secret that Youtube prioritizes longer videos, so if your video is under ten minutes (or I think now 8 minutes), the algorithm isn’t going to be as nice to you and won’t promote your video as well, and you aren’t going to get as much advertising money because fewer people are going to sit through a video advertisement that’s a quarter of your video’s entire length. Longer videos are more profitable for Youtube, and by extension, for the user uploading them.
So it was video after video of these guys making big bold claims about how they had all the answers on what the next season of Fortnite was, and you’re thinking, “oh wow, it’s a 17 minute video, they’re going to spoil everything!”
You load the video up and it’s some guy in his streamer man cave, he’s got his webcam on, and he loads in to a match of Fortnite with his squad. Keep in mind, this video was pitched as a news report of sorts, a big spoiling of future content... and it’s just a guy playing Fortnite with a crew. In the few seconds between matches as he queues for the next one, he stops to deliver a single shred of information, most of which start with “Hypex said...”
The one thing you came to this video for and it’s scattered like breadcrumbs across a 17 minute video of a guy just playing normal matches Fortnite to fill time. It’s not information they acquired for themselves, they all just regurgitate what Hypex said, or what other channels reported Hypex saying. 17 minutes of padding for scraps of second-hand leaks. And I found dozens of these channels, all repeating the same format, all repeating the same specks of leaked information, and all of them had 150,000 to 200,000 views on each of their videos in less than 24 hours. That’s hundreds of dollars per video on a format to scam the system.
But that’s a content farm. Those dudes are vultures. I have a hard time believing their hearts are really in it. I know it’s not a term that’s really in vogue anymore, but I see that as “selling out.” They know what they are doing and it’s to make money, not to make a community better. I mean, one of those videos was a guy who was reading Marvel comic hero profiles off of Wikipedia because it sounded like he literally did not know who guys like Iron Man, Thor and Wolverine even were. How are you in touch enough with pop culture that you’re cranking out factory-fresh Fortnite content for Youtube but you don’t know who Thor is? Answer: because you don’t really care and you’re in it for the money. Gotta hit that 15 minute threshold and put in six mid-roll ad breaks.
I could be that guy. That’s kind of what I was hoping “This Kinda Sucks” would turn in to, which would be sort of a rant video series like The Jimquisition or something. But I did not have the interest or energy to keep that up. So you get a playlist with two videos on it.
I’m sure Dunkey was just funnin’ around. Dude has 6 million subscribers. But for me, like... what he said in the video is mostly true. Following your heart and making thoughtful content you are personally interested in won’t pay the bills. I mean, as I predicted, that Jurassic Park video launched to the sound of crickets chirping. My most hardcore fans and a few curious onlookers checked it out but that was it. I’ve been working on that video since August, and it’s something my viewer base did not care about. But I cared about it, and that’s important for the long-run, I think.
The other problem, sort of a disconnect, is that I’m lucky to be in the position I’m in. I think guys like Dunkey probably make all of their money from places like Youtube and Twitch and Patreon and that’s their career. That work pays all of their bills.
My work does not pay my bills. Or it does, but it’s not enough to pay all of my bills. I am lucky enough right now that I am in a living situation where I can make fractions of money in intermittent spurts. That won’t always be the case. But for now, I get to be honest, and I get to follow my heart in whatever random, chaotic direction it feels like going that particular day. Dunkey faces a different sort of pressure than I do.
All of this is to say I have no idea what I’m doing, I guess. I make the content I want to see.
That being said, I increasingly think about something I heard Woolie say early on when he went solo for his WoolieVS channel, and that was the idea of “One for you, one for me, one for us.”
Because I’ve had more than one friend burn out doing, like, Twitch streams and stuff. You hear about Youtubers who get sick of being shackled to new releases or whatever’s popular. At some point these people wake up and realize they’ve had this struggle, maybe made some money in the process, but they’re miserable because they don’t get to do what they want to do. They’re always being pushed forward by the fans that are behind them.
The “One for you, one for me, one for us” mantra does at least keep you a little more sane. Balance in all things, right? So that Jurassic Park video, it can flop. It’d be nice if it didn’t flop, given what time of the year it is, but it’s a video for me. I have other video ideas in the chamber that I know will be for my audience, or “for us.”
I just have to stay true to myself, and to my messy brain.

DAY 1850) Tron 2.0 - Credits Medley
Composer: Nathan Grigg, Wendy Carlos
Given that this is a medley; there’s lots of timesig changes but they’re more like unrelated sections from each other, often totally fading in/out or with ambiguous pauses, so I’ll just talk about each section separately.
0:00 - 1:29 is all just 4/4, frantic drums, crazy synth sound design, but no odd time really for this section.
1:29 - 1:44 i’m counting as triplets in mixed meter: 4/4, 4/4, 5/4, 5/4, 6/4, 5/4, 4/4. if you were to count those as 8ths instead of triplets it’d be more like 12/8, 12/8, 15/8, 15/8, 18/8, 15/8, 12/8 (replace the 8s with 16s if you’re going to be weird like me and count them as 16ths if you find x/16 more natural to think about for some reason) !
1:46 - 2:17 is polymetric! The syncopated bell-like synth ostinato is in 7/8, but the slower synth hits and most everything else behind it really are in 6/4. For a short bit before 2:17 I guess there’s some 5/8 polymeter in one of the synth layers also. Some other more ambiguous stuff you might be able to interpret as even further layers of polymeter but the point is like, yeah this part’s lots of layers looping in different loop lengths from each other on top of each other!
2:17 - 3:06′s at a bit faster a tempo than the previous section. Also polymetric but a lot simpler case of it. 4/4 in that metallic bell-like synth rhythm, and 6/4 polymeter in the beeps under it from 2:17 - 2:42
3:06 - 4:03, here it’s 6/4 through most of the parts of this that have enough of a rhythm to latch onto something, which only really happens starting with the echoy drums that come in at 3:31.
4:03 - 4:45 is interesting; this is taken from “FCon/The Root of the Problem (Combat)”, which is one of the tracks I have on my biiiiig queue of possible tracks to eventually post on here but never happened to ever post. I’d count this snippet of it as all 7+8, 15/16, but just being aware that there’s a constant four-on-the-floor “4/4″ kick acting “polymetric” to it from the bits at 4:15 - 4:21 / 4:27 - 4:34.
4:45 - end is all loose, but just 4/4 stuff whenever concretely countable
Hopefully I addressed everything important here! there’s a lot going on in all of these sections, so it wouldn’t surprise me if I missed an obvious polymeter layer or something and just didn’t realize it! Lots of these sections come from other tracks in the game too, so are in a bit different of a context musically from their amalgamation here. Obviously wild tempo changes between each section that i’m not bothering to write out lol
This is a great cross section of the crazy stuff present throughout this ost though, tron 2.0 is totally one of the most odd time/polymeter/etc filled game soundtracks out there. Part of that’s obvious influence from Wendy Carlos’s original score to the 1982 film being much like that (and this game borrowing a lot of the material she wrote), but Nathan Grigg’s style is always full of that kinda thing as well, and he only adds to that intricacy in his original additions to the mix!
For all those reasons I thought this would be a pretty good sort-of-sendoff for this blog i’ve been running for over 5 years...........
....so...
...!
...THE FINAL DAY sort of...! As I said many posts ago (https://vgm-in-irregular-time-of-the-day.tumblr.com/post/623135939348365312/day-1828-shining-force-cd-track-25-composer) [probably a better read than my post right now here today], this will be my final post that’s in the “1 song presented with a text post daily” format; I’ll take a break but I will eventually shift to talking about this again in (most likely) YT video vgm mixes, including other related content besides just the very specific odd timesig stuff in vgm too!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me all this time! ULTRA SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO CHz who has helped me out with this blog FAR more than anyone could possibly imagine, he’s done far more work than anyone ever needed to do, far beyond my expectations to help me along with this. And he doesn’t get enough credit for that, this blog would’ve probably died a long time ago without chz’s help. Thank you so much CHz for all your assistance! Sharing me things you remember when I’m in desperate need of a new track to post at the last minute, uploading so much music for me, helping me organize so much, writing out timesig charts for me so many times, sharing overwhelmingly huge amounts of odd time vgm with me, probably even more than anyone else. So many other things all these years you’ve helped me with on here, I can’t thank you enough!
That said, thank you to EVERYONE who has shared odd time vgm with me (and this is like, a LOT of people, far too many to list, and i’m sure plenty would be uncomfortable being listed too, so i won’t subject this post to that).
I’m very bad at responding to PMs and other messages sent to me; I apologize greatly if i’ve left you hanging for months...or years...or forever. I’m just bad at that form of communication lol, but I’ve read the majority of what’s been sent and still try to keep as much as possible in my big list backlog of stuff to eventually post. I get excited and happy when I see people linking me new odd time vgm i’ve never heard and stuff like that; so if i’ve never responded or never posted stuff you’ve linked me here, please know that I actually do appreciate it even if i might not show it haha. I’ve honestly mostly only maintained this blog pretty sporadically and rely heavily on queuing everything in advance on occasion, rather than constant observation of it.
Once i shift to the new format of presentation i’ll still include the suggestions that’ve been linked to me, and stuff. I’ll maybe try to be more communicative in the future now that i’m not going to be bogged down by the load of keeping a constant daily stream of these posts. (though i probably won’t be paying too much attention to tumblr for a while during my break from doing this stuff)
thank you to everyone for every positive comment, every intent to help by sharing, and just...general inquisitiveness and enthusiasm about this THING i’m doing for no reason! This is all literally just me nerding out about my favorite combination of niche subjects together “proggy/mathy/etc music” and “video game music” at the same time as each other. I never expected this would get anything close to the following it’s gotten, but now occasionally it’ll get pointed out that this blog is me in some group i’m in or something and 5 people will be like “WAIT...that’s YOU?! I’ve been watching that blog for years!” or something; like i’m really startled by how many people follow this sometimes lol.
Really thankful for everyone showing interest in me just being me, having fun talking about things i like in music. I hope that can continue even if i’ll be changing what I talk about and how I talk about it!
It might be quite a while before I return to doing this kind of thing again, and it’ll definitely be a much less constant pace, but I think that trade-off be worth it. I’ll return to making posts here again when I finally have new stuff to post, big video mixes with animated visual transcriptions or WHATever i wind up doing (probably a new dedicated youtube channel for the new stuff too) and stuff! I’ll find out what that will be when I get there
Thank you all for everything!
THank you!
WOW
THANKJ YOU for all 5 years of this website being a fun place to post music i like inside of
BYE
OH WAIt here’s my twitter/soundcloud/etc links and stuff if you want to contact me in a place i’ll be far more attentive to than tumblr, since i won’t be paying attention to here for a while:

Today has got to be one of the hottest days of summer. Day by day instead of the temperature slowly going down to 90 degrees, it was always stuck at 100. The cherry on top? The air conditioning was out for the entire building, quite the luck right?
In this type of weather, it’s best of to free roam without any clothes. That’s only if you’re alone or live alone. In this case, (Y/N) had a roommate. Which meant that was always not an option, except when he was out of town.
Tom Holland
The twenty-three year old from southwest London, he has been living with her for almost a year. He had came to the beautiful city of Los Angeles for school and maybe after, an acting career.
(Y/N) didn’t have any classes today but when your plan to sleep in is interrupted by the extreme heat wave leaving your room to feel like a sauna, how can you sleep in? She reached for her phone that was resting on her nightstand unplugging it from the charger.
12:47 flashed across the lock screen along with a few notifications being from a miss call and a voicemail from her landlord, along with few instagram and twitter notifications.
"The air conditioning is out for the entire building, it won’t get fixed till tomorrow sorry for the inconvenience.”
Seriously? Great.
She rolled out of bed in desperate need for a cool shower, maybe from now on sleeping in hoodies during the summer isn’t a great idea. The moment her feet touched the floor it was warmer than ever, usually it would be cold and resulting in why she’d use socks.
Before heading to the bathroom she picked out a black cami along with some pj shorts, well you could honestly call these booty shorts. (Y/N) didn’t have a problem with showing little skin, I mean Tom does it all the time.
Walking around with either a pair of grey sweats or basketball shorts hanging dangerously low on his hips, his v line prominent along with his abs. There were times she caught herself staring for no longer than a minute or two.
The heat of summer didn’t need to be around to leave her hot and bothered. Tom does it with or without the heat.
He can take me anyway-no! Stop thinking about him in that way!
(Y/N) slowly opened her bedroom door peeking out into the hallway unsure if Tom was still asleep or not. She quickly entered the bathroom, shutting the door quietly then locked it.
After her long cool shower (Y/N) wandered to the kitchen, she kept quiet not wanting to wake Tom if he was still in his room.
How could someone sleep through this heat? Maybe I should wake him up.
Now here she stood in front of him bedroom contemplating if she should knock or not. Maybe it’s best to let him sleep right? He has woken me up on several occasions... I guess it’s right to make it even?
No, let him sleep.
(Y/N) walked away for a second only to retrace her steps to knock on his door softly “Tom?” no answer. Tom was somewhat of a deep sleeper, on most days.
“Tom?”
Just grab the spare key... he does it all the time why shouldn’t I?
Days when Tom would randomly wake her up. Being most days he’d grab the spare key that opens both their doors and burst in without knocking.
Her hand wrapped around the handle testing to see it was locked or not, but to her surprise it wasn’t. She twisted it slowly pushing it open just enough for her to peek in.
Empty.
Huh, he must’ve gone to his classes then.
(Y/N) shrugged closing his bedroom door and moved onto the kitchen. She fixed herself a quick snack before settling in the living room with the windows slightly open.
Even though the wind was just hot air, at least there was wind right? She threw her hair up into a ponytail annoyed with the hair sticking to the back of her neck. She fixed her attention on her phone, attempting to use it as a distraction from scorching heat.
(Y/N) got up to grab a popsicle, hopefully this will help cool her down.
Is this what hell feels like? No thank you satan.
Tom quickly unlocked the front door craving nothing more than a cool shower. After walking in this hell on earth heat, kicking his shoes off and tossing his backpack onto their dining room table. In the corner of his eye he could see (Y/N) sitting on the kitchen countertop.
“Hey.” Tom chimed causing (Y/N) to lift her gaze from her phone, “Hey! Didn’t hear you come in.” she took in his appearance, grey sweatpants along with a tight dark grey top.
(Y/N) pulled the popsicle out with a pop keeping eye contact with Tom.
Maybe it was the heat, or maybe it was because she was using a cami that hugged her chest in all the right ways. But whatever the reason was, Tom was feeling hotter than ever. He stood there for a moment watching as she took the popsicle pass her lips moaning lightly at the taste of the fruity solid.
“I-I’m gonna go take a uh shower.” Tom squeaked quickly turning the corner into the bathroom slamming it shut loudly brining (Y/N) smirked to herself.
That was bold.
Tom quickly locked the door stripping his clothes moving to the shower to turn the dial to the coldest temperature. For two reasons, because he needed to wash off all this sweat. And, take care of something else.
Holy shit.
He’d be lying if he said he doesn’t think of (Y/N) when he was taking care of his needs. It goes the same way with (Y/N), the days Tom is out of town she can be as loud as she want. Allowing Tom’s name to slip past her lips with ease and no worry of being caught.
His hand wrapped around his shaft letting out a shaking breath as the cold water rolled down his back. He began to pump it slowly allowing his head to hang low.
Maybe it was the way she called him “Tommy.” full of innocence but the gleam in her eyes said other wise. Or when she’d come home from the gym or from a run around the neighborhood, he couldn’t help but stare at her chest.
Fuckin’ hell.
Tom began to pick up his pace, wanting nothing more than a quick release.
It was the little things. Like when they’d be cooking and how they hands graze against one another for a brief moment. Or when they’d be watching a movie and how she’d rest her legs over his lap. When she’d just hangout in his bed when he was working on an essay. She was beyond gorgeous.
He let out a low groan resting his head against the tiled wall letting out a shaky breath.
It was just (Y/N) in general that always had him worked up.
Holy shit.
The two spent the rest of their afternoon in their rooms, (Y/N) was typing up her physiology essay and highlighting a passage for english. As for Tom, he just hung out in his room mindlessly scrolling through instagram and twitter.
Once she wrapped up her final sentence of her essay she shut her laptop closed grabbed her phone and headed to Tom’s room. (Y/N) liked to hangout in his room whenever she was done with homework or needed a break. It was around dinner time so she needed him vote on dinner.
“Hey.”
(Y/N) hopped onto Tom’s bed, “So Chinese or Pizza?” she looked up at Tom for a second then back to her screen scrolling through their dinner options. Looking over the top of her phone she noticed he was wearing sweatpants,
“Aren’t you hot?”
Tom’s eyes widened slightly, “Huh?” (Y/N) sat upright against the headboard giving him a confused expression, “I said aren’t you hot? I mean, you’re wearing sweatpants.” his mouth formed an o understanding what she meant by ‘Aren’t you hot?’
“No.”
She leaned forward tilting her head slightly, “So.. Chinese or Pizza?”
“Whatever you want.” He shrugged paying no attention, well trying not to pay any attention to (Y/N). She noticed he was acting a little more strange and quieter than usual. He was cracking any jokes, he was keeping his distance causing a frown to tug at her lips.
“What’s wrong? Is it a class or the heat? You’ve been so quiet the entire day.”
No it’s you.
(Y/N) frowned in confusion “Oh, I’m sorry I’m annoying you. I’ll go.” Tom’s eyes widened in panic, did he really just say that out loud? Before she could get off the bed he reached for her wrist tugging it back lightly.
“Don’t apologize, it’s just.... seeing you walk around in barley anything, and when you were eating that popsicle. It’s so fucking hot I just want to-”
Tom bit his tongue holding back from saying anymore, not wanting to scare (Y/N) off if she didn’t feel the same way or wanted what he wanted.
She leaned forward resting her hand on his thigh, “Do what Tommy?” her voice feign with innocents but lust filled her eyes the devil was dancing happily behind her (Y/E/C).
“Kiss you...” his voice barley a whisper but loud enough for (Y/N) to hear she nodded slowly encouraging him to go on squeezing his thigh lightly.
It was always these grey sweatpants that made her feel a certain way, wanting nothing more than to straddle his lap and make a mess out of herself. Lust clouded her eyes as need ran through her veins, she could feel herself growing excited.
“I’d fuck you, oh I’d have you screaming my name.”
(Y/N) moved to straddle one of his thighs resting her hands on his broad naked shoulders, Tom’s hands moved to hold her hips brushing his thumb against her exposed skin.
“So what are you waiting for?” she dared leaning forward to close the gap between them as Tom met her halfway capturing her lips. The room felt hotter than ever, her hands moved to his hair tugging at the brunette curls as a low groan escaped Tom’s lips.
She began grind down onto his lap taking Tom by surprise, his right hand moved to grip her hair tugging back lightly to break their kiss “A needy one aren’t you?” he said with a smirk as (Y/N) responded with a pout nodding in agreement.
“Look at you making a mess.”
Even without looking down she knew what Tom meant, there was a line of her arousal which only fueled his need. He played with the hem of her cami brushing his finger’s against her hot skin, he was quick to change their position so that she was laying on her back.
He pressed kisses onto her hot skin leaning back to tug her cami off and sending it to the floor, he stared at her for a second taking in her beauty watching as (Y/N)  moved her hands to her chest.
“None of that darling, you’re gorgeous.”
Tom pressed a kiss to the back of her hand as she retracted it slowly to rest at her side, his free hand gripped the other as he began to slowly suck on your already harden nipple. Hit bit down on it lightly causing her to let out an airy moan.
He pulled away with a pop continuing to leave kisses on your skin, kissing the stretch marks that painted your hips “So gorgeous darling, a true work of art.” her heart fluttered lightly. No one had done or told her what Tom just did, he really is gonna be the death of me.
“Tom please, I’m sure there will be a next time. I just need you in me please?”
A smirk tugged at his lips his hands placed on both sides of her head, he tilted his head slightly “What makes you think there’s gonna be a next time?” (Y/N) hummed raising her knee to rub against his bulge.
“Why wouldn’t there be?”
Tom quickly moved off the bed searching his night draw for a condom, (Y/N) removed the rest of her clothing tossing it to the floor. She leaned back on her elbows watching Tom strip, her eyes widened as his shaft hit his lower stomach.
“What?” he asked worriedly noticing the change in her expression.
(Y/N) shook her head, “I-I didn’t think you’d be that big..” he was bigger than her last two ex’s, and that just boosted Tom’s confidence even more.
Once Tom rolled the condom onto his shaft he situated himself between her legs, he gave his length a few pumps sliding the tip from her entrance to her clit tapping it lightly earning a small airy moan from (Y/N).
He slowly slipped in and out of her entrance, (Y/N) wrapped her legs around his waist “Please just go deeper Tommy.” she mewled looking up at him with such innocences but Tom was quick to oblige thrusting in till he was fully in her.
Slowly beginning with deep slow strokes allowing her to adjust to his size before quickly picking up the pace, he left hand rest on her hips as his right began to kneed her right breast. Ever so often his fingers would graze her throat, she hoped he would just wrap his hand around it.
“Fuck.” Tom groaned leaning down to pepper sloppy kisses against her neck sucking on her skin lightly but enough for it to create a little mark, he moved his way up her jaw and finally to her lips.
The kiss was sloppy yet hot, their teeth clashing against one another lust ran through their veins their moans bounced off the walls of his room. (Y/N) grabbed Tom’s wrist moving it from her breast to her throat, she could see the devil dancing happily behind his eyes.
“Want me to choke you darling?” Tom teased placing his hand at her throat resting it there for a moment watching her nod eagerly. (Y/N) eyes rolled back feeling Tom apply light pressure “Tom.” she moaned as her walls clenched around him.
Tom continued to thrust in and out of her as the familiar knot began to form her toes curled and her back arched into his chest “Mhm Tommy.” she groaned her vision was hazy but as Tom applied a little more pressure to her throat she was about to lose it.
The sun was slowly setting, adding an orange hue to the room. Tom dipped his head down to capture her sweet lips muffling their moans slowly trailing down to her neck leaving a few more marks that would last a couple days.
“I-I- I’m gonna..” (Y/N) whispered Tom used his free hand to rub quick figure 8′s on her clit helping her to her climax. He could feel clench around him “C’mon darling.” a loud scream slipped past her lips her orgasm ripping through her body once again.
Tom’s pace began to grow sloppy, reaching his climax no too long after (Y/N). He stayed in her for a moment before pulling out tugging off the condom and tossing it in the trash that rest in the corner of her room.
(Y/N) laid there for a moment catching her breath, her hand rest on her throat smiling at the feeling. Tom joined her back in bed peppering kisses of her shoulder, they were both sweating like crazy. This activity would work during winter when their heater goes out.
“So..” Tom began “..are you free tomorrow?” (Y/N) rose a brow at him she knew where he was going with the question.
“Depends, what for?”
He shrugged lightly “Wanna go on a date? I don’t want you to think I just want you for sex.. I’ve wanted to ask you out for the longest time but I was to-” she kissed him sweetly cutting him off from his rambling.
“I’d love to Tommy.”

His Bloody Rose (Stefano Valentini fanfiction) Chapter 2 - The Artbook
Stephano held onto my hand for a moment with a smile on his face. It strangely felt like I had signed some sort of pact with this man.
He let go of my hand, pulling his portfolio towards himself in one movement.
"What does your ideal artwork look like, then?" He asked.
"My ideal artwork?" I bit my lip, quickly trying to wrack my sleep-deprived brain for an answer. "That's an almost impossible question to answer. I suppose. . ."
He looked towards me expectantly.
"I'm not sure. I generally don't know what I like unless I see it. I know I like the more... erm, surreal paintings. Not like Dahli or the dreamlike landscapes. Maybe more... Frida Kahlo-esque."
"I see." He chuckled as though he had a queue of reactions waiting to be used. "The debate for Kahlo's style is always an intriguing one. But I believe I know what kind of image you are saying."
"Well, what about you? What's your ideal vision of the arts?"
He perked up, as if having been waiting for that question forever. "My tastes are rather more... obscure."
He chuckled to himself, pulling the portfolio to him and grabbing the zipper. He slowly unzipped the book, making my curiosity wonder what type of art lay inside.
"What I would like to see be appreciated is what I create. My vision for art is often... Misunderstood by those that can not understand."
The portfolio gloriously flipped open, revealing neat piles of small pictures encased in clear plastic sheets. He spun the book around and slid it towards me.
"You see, I came out of a specific experience in my life that completely changed how I see the world. It granted me a way to see the world and it's occupants in a different lighting."
I looked on the first sheet of the book, realizing it was photographs, small pictures dedicated to a single sheet each. I stared at the first one; a man in what appeared to be a military uniform being blown limb from limb as an explosion tore through the frame. I found myself staring at each of the details. The blurred movement of the explosion, the man whose leg was completely missing from his body, the leg itself perfectly balancing the photograph in another place.
I gasped quietly, noticing a singular piece of shrapnel wasn't blurred. It was almost still, just fuzzy. I realized it was coming towards the camera that had captured it.
"Having lived through that moment, I saw something more beautiful than the life around me. I had to record what we cannot see."
I turned another page, seeing two black and white photos of a slit neck and wide-open eyes. The next page had close-ups on body parts and rotten, sliced flesh.
Turning the page I saw more images of dead bodies, and a bloodied woman's face, pale and an empty expression staring back at me.
"Beautiful, is it not?"
I sprung up, startled. Stephano was standing behind me, leaning slightly over my chair and staring down at his own work.
"S-sorry, I didn't realize you had moved." I blurted out.
He smiled at me, warm and inviting. Something told me it wasn't genuine, just his way of trying to calm me from my fright.
"Forgive me for enjoying your fear. I find it quite lovely to observe the emotions rarely captured and praised. Feelings are very human, but it is rare that they are captured and shown to many people."
I nodded, and he shifted past me, pulling the chair closer to mine. He sat and hovered over the desk, admiring the photographs.
"These are just proofs, of course. My actual work is much bigger and broader than this."
He turned one of the pages for me as I glanced over at him. He smiled differently than when I first saw him.
"Ah, but I wasn't satisfied in the beauty of others. No, I had to create my own. Within a reasonable degree of harm, of course." He laughed to himself.
I glanced down, viewing a headless woman on a swing in a blue dress. I could see a bag dripping from the top of the image, as though in motion, implying it had just been pulled off. There were what appeared to be fairy wings made of blood, extending from the headless torso sitting gently on the swing. The composition and lighting were dare I say perfect. The blue contrasted the red wonderfully, forcing the viewer to look and observe.
I blinked, recognizing immediately the pattern repeating itself within the wings. Each wing was the same intricate blood design, just scaled differently to fit each spot.
"Is this...?"
"Photoshopped? No. I'm quite proud to say that." His chest puffed up slightly as he smiled. "I have learned plenty of skills in my time as a photographer. Many of what you see are several scenes assembled together with development magic."
"Wow..." I murmured as I turned back.
Stephano flinched as I said that. His head turned from the photograph to me. Then he sat up and seemed to compose himself.
I flipped another page, seeing a bloodied hand holding a rose, also bloodied. It reminded me of the illustrations in "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" from the dark blood looking like ink.
A small inscription at the bottom read "Innocent Gift" in elegant cursive. I glanced at the image, then stared at it. It felt... as if the title resonates with it perfectly. The only thing to see was in fact the rose and the arm, so delicate and charming. There was a story behind it, almost like a fairy tale, and I almost wanted to ask what it was.
"This picture is..." I murmured.
A phone chimed quietly. Stephano reached into his left pocket and pulled out his phone. He stood up and walked away slightly, tapping on the screen. I looked down at the picture again before turning the page.
This image was a hand mostly out of frame, laying gently along hardwood floors, almost pointing to a tattered rose laying opposite of the hand. It looked delicate, almost, as though it had been less staged than the others in the portfolio. I took in the blood spatter and rose petals laying across the image.
Stephano's voice brought me out of my trance with the picture. His pleasant voice had turned hard, and he started saying something in a foreign language. Whatever it was, it was rather obvious something had made him pissed off.
He composed himself once again, then turned to me. He was now frowning as he regarded me looking at his photographs again.
"Excuse me, it seems my meeting has fallen through." He sat back down in his chair by the desk, as though he was instantly fatigued. "If you don't mind, I would like to gather my work and just leave."
I blinked. "Oh, were you meeting with the gallery director?"
"The head of the art department and the gallery director to go over my work, to showcase my own gallery here." He gestured to the room around him, annoyance filling his tone. "Though, from what I've seen, I doubt my passions would fit into this gallery."
"It would certainly be better than this artist." I mumbled under my breath.
Stephano looked at me, his visible eyebrow raised and eye open rather wide. "'Scuzé?"
"Oh, sorry, I didn't realize I said that out loud." I put a hand over my mouth. "It's just, in comparison... Well, your work just shows a lot of love for the technique and care for what you're trying to portray. I can't help but feel the artist here," I lift a hand and wave it towards the room, "is just trying to replicate what he thinks others want. Or at the very least just objectifies women to showcase for his and others pleasure."
I turn back to the portfolio before me and flip back a page to Innocent Gift. I let my index finger run along the plastic, tracing the edge of the arm so as not to obstruct the rest of the picture.
"While it looks like you also use the female figure for your work, you do it in such... Well, it has a more elegant feel to the whole image. It's more of a celebration to the female figure, not just a sexual or objectifying use of it."
I look up at Stephano and realized he was staring at me.
"Oh sorry, I was rambling again."
"No. Do not apologize. I haven't heard an opinion like that about my work yet." A smile crossed his face slowly. "It often goes in another direction, not many art critics understand my vision."
He turns away, smile still evident on his face.
"Your work reminds me of this photographer I've seen before..." I said lowly.
"Oh? Who is that?"
I open my mouth to speak, but I can't remember the name. "I... can't remember... Oh, hold on."
Turning to my laptop, I wake it from its sleep mode and open a new tab on my browser. I tap my fingers on the table as I think briefly. Then I begin to type out something via the Google search bar.
"I can... Show you, since I remember what she's famous for, but not her name."
The search finished and showed my search for "body farm photographer." I clicked on the image tab and watched as it loaded gruesome bodies slowly decomposing. Some were close images of the faces, some were full body shots.
"Sally Mann," I said, reading one of the title cards, "her name's Sally Mann. I keep forgetting..."
Stephano moved his chair closer to mine, leaning towards the computer screen. I shifted the computer to him so he could use it. He stared at the screen, then pulled off his left glove to use the trackpad on the base of the computer. I watched as he clicked in to various images, taking his time to absorb and view each one.
"Wonderful. . ." He muttered quietly. "I've never seen another's work like this."
Several minutes go by as he carefully scrolls through the pictures. I smile to myself, glad that I could show someone another artist they might like. The concentration on his face as he stares at each image, visible eye darting around the picture as he hunts for every detail available to him.
"Is this an older photographer?" He finally says, sitting back upright in his seat.
"No, I don't think so." I shake my head slightly. "She's still uploading images and proofs to her website, but I think she's moved on to other pictures. Landscapes of her home state, I think, trying to capture old civil war battlegrounds."
He nodded slightly, eyes turning to the screen again. His smile never faltered. Then he chuckled lowly.
"While this wasn't how I expected today to go, it has turned out rather enlightening." He pulled his portfolio towards himself, carefully shutting it and zipping it closed. "I will have to look into miss Mann's work some more. But for now, I'm afraid I have to go. I must create something, to capture a new wondrous image I have in my mind."
I feel myself smile as a flighty warm feeling passes through me. I stand with him, though knowing that isn't really necessary. He chuckles again, his smile grafted almost permanently onto his face. He holds out his left hand, still without the glove, and I hesitantly place my left hand in his. His hand is warm, and it branches through my arm as he closes his grip and brings it closer to himself.
"Perhaps today went wrong for good reason." He chuckles, pulling my hand up to his face. He presses his lips to my knuckles, planting a gentle kiss upon them. I feel my face flare up and a lump develop in my throat.
His lips linger on my hand, eye closed, face seemingly content. Then a smile crosses his face and he pulls away.
"I can only hope that you are like a charm of luck." He chuckles. "Perhaps we will find each other once again, when I need someone to brighten my day. Until then, I wish you well, bella Rosa."
I swallow as I stare at the man before me. He straightens up, releasing my hand and letting it fall to my side, then grabbing his glove and portfolio off the desk. He turns around and begins to walk away. His shoes make their way down the hall, clicking gently against the linoleum and making their way out of the building.
I fell back into my chair, feeling my face aflame. The lingering warmth from his hand dissipated and left it feeling cold. I work hard to swallow the lump in my throat and quench the flutter in my stomach.
C'mon, be logical. I thought to myself, trying to focus on my computer as I turned it back to myself. He's just a charmer. He's probably sweet to everyone, you don't need to get riled up because some well-dressed man with an accent took a passing interest in you.
I sighed. Yeah, I know I'm probably right. That's how you get your heart broken early in life. Letting someone who knows how they make people feel playing you like a puppet for their own use.
I shudder, trying to get the scent of his cologne out of my head, and the soft feel of his lips against my hand coupled with the feel of his warm breath ghosting over my skin to stop replaying in my memories.
I swallow and just try to pay attention to the video I was watching, but I couldn't help my attention being pulled elsewhere. No matter how much I mentally chanted that I need to focus on my college life, my studies came first, and he likely won't remember me when he interacts with the next woman he meets.
The glimmer in his eye when it opened from kissing my hand danced in my head. The way it slowly raised up and met mine, as though it glowed through the shadow cast by the lighting in the room. The green and silver looking aflame and liquid, piercing through me as he stared. His face holding stoic, but his eye reading with some form of emotion I had yet to understand.
I shook my head. I need to get that man out of my head. I shivered, realizing I was subconsciously holding tight to the hand he had kissed. I looked down, then let go and forced both into my lap.
I still have less than an hour until my class. I hope I don't have to do anything else today. I'm likely to crash from this adrenaline rush shortly, but apparently a good way to wake up is to have a striking European man come and flash his warm smile around the room.
I shivered again, grabbing my jacket and pulling it on. I felt embarrassed for feeling like I needed to get warm, but hopefully I can help myself forget this event eventually.
I turn on another video to try and distract from the buzzing sound of my own thoughts bouncing within my head.

So I'm thinking of moving to Pillowfort once the site is back up. As someone who actually has an account there, what do you think of the site? Would you say it's worth it?
I’ve hung out there a bit and on the whole I actually really like the basic structure of it. I like how much control you have over reblogs, comments, being able to lock posts, communities… those are all big improvements. There are some weird behaviors with the image uploader, notably this crazy jittering I get on my browser when uploading large images, but it’s nothing world-ending or anything, it’s still usable. One of the first things I did there actually was run a series of image uploading tests, since that’s a prime concern for me. It lets you upload bigger images at better quality than Tumblr, which is great. There are some key features that are missing that I like, like having a queue, but they’re ones that I feel like will be added over time (if pf survives).
Right now the big concern is actually getting people to move there. Achieving critical mass is hard, even if you have a service that’s objectively better than the old one. I was there for Strikethrough/Boldthrough and when Dreamwidth came out. And objectively, Dreamwidth is better than Livejournal at pretty much everything it does. It adds a ton of really useful and handy features, it streamlines a lot of stuff, it’s just overall a better experience. But it turned out that when fandom moved, it didn’t want to go to Livejournal 2.0, it wanted to go somewhere new, and it ended up on Tumblr. My guess is that the next fandom diaspora will follow the same pattern - some will stay here, some will move to other sites, and eventually over time fandom will settle on another service that was not designed with fandom in mind, but will get twisted to suit fandom’s current needs in a way that people want. Then that service will get upset at fandom’s various activities for whatever reason and try to get rid of everyone and the cycle will repeat again.
That’s just me being cynical though, haha. I would really love it if Pillowfort took off honestly, and I’m one of the few people that still posts on DW/LJ with something approaching regularity after everyone left, just because DW/LJ is better suited to certain types of posts I want to make than Tumblr is. So even if Tumblr becomes a ghost town, I’ll probably hang around here until the bitter end as well. I have a lot of inertia.
But I like using Pillowfort! I like how it functions and everything, I like the whole setup. It just needs more people posting there to have a real reason to keep posting there myself (it’s a recursive loop, you gotta make content to get people to come and make more content). Also the Pillowfort servers are super robust right now but that’s not a huge surprise considering the massive influx of traffic they must be getting at the moment. We’ll see how it’ll pan out. I actually got my Pillowfort code for free cause I signed up for a beta code like years and years ago and totally forgot until they sent it to me recently, haha. It’s weird because for a long time in the early days, Livejournal was similarly exclusive, where to make an LJ you had to get a code/token from a friend. You couldn’t just sign up for free or make a bunch of accounts willynilly. Eventually LJ opened up free accounts for everyone, but every now and then I think about that and marvel at how things still managed to flourish there at the time. It’s possible PF may open free accounts at some point once they hammer out their business plan more, or maybe some generous people out there’ll give you extra codes if you’re looking. And if nothing else, you can at least see all the unlocked posts on PF for free.
I’m at Pillowfort as zarla btw, if you’re hopping over there let me know, haha.

Santomas sat on a formed plastic bench before an enormous control console, not dissimilar from the one in his office in Wales. “This is the main control center,” the engineer explained as he powered on the terminal and the various holos flickered to life. “The various sub-systems are routed to the main process PLCs here, and then up to the comms array on the roof. I can supervise the entire production queue from this terminal, manually interface with individual machines, et cetera. It’s really fascinating when you think about it, how the automation protocols have advanced in the last thirty years...”
“While the facility tour has been highly interesting,” Chatham interrupted, “I might remind you that we’re here to investigate a possible crime.”.
“Right, right, we’re getting to it.” He keyed several commands into the console, and a process flow diagram appeared on the holoscreen.
The detective wasn’t sure what she was looking at. “Help me understand what I’m seeing here.”
“Well, for starters, clearly the status link is working.”
“I could see that the moment we walked in,” she countered.
“Right, but that’s the thing. The external command status for this entire fab is set to shutdown. It basically terminated all line operations and told all the machinery to power down. Nothing’s supposed to be running, which is why we were seeing the red flag back in my office. But somehow the production queue got restarted; I don’t know… how... but the lines are obviously running. And, well,” Santomas scratched at the back of his head, a sheepish look on his face. “We never really planned for a conflict like this.”
“How so?”
“Just because I can control things from this terminal doesn’t mean we ever intended to. The status flag fed back to the office is strictly report-only. Once the line starts up it closes the contact on an output relay which sends the status signal out. So there’s a conflict: the last external value was set for shutdown, which its reporting. But I don’t think anyone ever anticipated a scenario where the fab would still also be running production, so we’re getting both statuses. The system didn’t know what to report, so it just reported everything.”
Chatham closed in behind him, her hand resting on his shoulder, as she lowered her face in towards the holo. “I thought you said the batch files-”
“Recipes.”
“Right, the recipes, are only uploaded over your secure link,” she finished.
The engineer nodded in assent. “Correct.”
“Well can you determine who uploaded this particular recipe file?” Chatham asked.
“Should be able to. Hold on,” Santomas said, typing furiously at the terminal. The holo flashed as he cycled through the screens and windows. He frowned, flipping his glasses up onto his forehead as he narrowed his eyes at the projection. “Okay, now, that’s real weird.”
“Don’t keep me in suspense Mister Santomas,” the detective demanded.
“So, I can’t figure out who ran this recipe,” he said. Chatham’s eyebrows raised in concern, but he waved her off. “That’s not even the weirdest part.”
She cocked her head slightly in frustration, rolling her eyes as she motioned him on.
“I’m looking at the execution instructions for this recipe and it’s missing the authorization code.”
“English, please,” she pleaded. “We haven’t all day here.”
He pointed toward the holo. “You see here, at the top of this recipe file? This is the program header: it’s not really any different from your average code file, where the programmer will put a bunch of identifying information. Revision number, code author, notes, etc. Well, in the case of our recipe files, there’s also supposed to be an authorization code - when the recipe goes into execution, the first thing the PLCs are supposed to do is confirm the authorization code. We, by which I mean, The Consortium, add it to every recipe. It’s part of our regulatory review process, and it also prevents user recipes from running without our knowledge.”
He paused, as if for dramatic effect, and gestured for him to continue with a stern glare.
“Each activation code is tied to a specific Consortium user, so it would ID who approved it.”
The detective digested this for a moment, following his logic to its inevitable conclusion. “So you’re telling me that not only do you know why the facility is running, but also who started it?”
“Evidently not,” Santomas replied through clenched teeth, one hand resting on his temple as he continued to stare into the holographic interface.
“Is it possible the recipe was somehow executed from here in this command station, overriding the authorization?” Chatham posited.
“Nope. Has to be over the remote link. Otherwise anybody could break in here, hard as it might be, and run whatever they wanted. I’d say that’s mainly for security reasons but honestly the higher-ups wanted it to make sure the maintenance guys couldn’t run some kind of black market operations without anyone knowing,” he explained.
“And that link protocol is…”
“Uncrackable, yes. Or at least, so we thought.” Santomas slid back into the bench in defeat. “I just… this shouldn’t be possible.”
“Alright, well,” Chatham said, mustering as much reassurance as she could manner, “we don’t know who is doing this, or how. Can we at least find out what they’re up to?”
The engineer perked back up slightly. “That, madame detective, we can do. Let me pull up the production orders.”
He toggled the holo back to the process flow diagram they had seen earlier, and after some additional keystrokes and a few seconds of loading, an exploded view of several manufacturing assemblies replaced it. The images that appeared was instantly recognizable, and Santomas slid his glasses back down onto his nose as he leaned in. “Well, that’s… fuck.”
Before them stood schematics for a veritable armory’s worth of equipment- assault rifles, attack drones, launch tubes for explosives, and body armor.
They both paused, taking in the enormity of the discovery, until Santomas let out a low whistle to break the tension. “I guess we know why we couldn’t find the activation code.”
“Quite.” Chatham leaned in close, grasping the back of the bench in her hands as she surveyed the plans. “But what’s that?” she said, pointing towards what appeared to be a chemical formula quietly tucked into the corner of the display.
The engineer enlarged that particular schematic, a sequence of lines and symbols stacked upon each other in a gridlike arrangement. “It’s… some kind of MEMS device, I think?”
“I’m not familiar.”
“Right, okay. MEMS is an acronym. Micro-electromechanical systems. They’re like... “ he paused, searching for an analogy. “Tiny robots, I guess? Think like, incredibly small simple machines. On the order of microns, or smaller. They’re typically used in stuff like electronics. I don’t really know what this one is, though. I’m not a materials guy. I’d have to ask one of the manufacturing engineers back in the office.”
The detective took out her mobile and enabled the video capture feed from her glasses. She wanted a record of what they were looking at, both to further the investigation, and to convince the Earl that something was indeed going on within the Consortium. “I plan to do just that. But these items are actively in production, are they not? Can we perhaps go take a look at the finished products?”
“Yes ma’am. The final products are shunted down to the lower level where the Logistics freighters pull up.” He shut down the interface to the console and stood from the bench, beckoning her to follow him.
They descended from the control tower back down onto the main production floor. Chatham passed drone trolleys carrying semi-finished assemblies that now, with the benefit of hindsight, she clearly recognized as components for various weapons: machined barrels, molded hand grips, polymer-ceramic plates for body armor. The automatons labored on, blissfully unaware of the dangerous repercussions their efforts implied; in this age of great upheaval in the global economy when an under-employed populace had little room for moral judgment with regard to their job prospects, some might still think twice about contributing toward a runaway military industrial complex. These automated foundries, freed from the constraints of ethical consideration, had no compunctions or considerations toward the fruits of their labors. They couldn’t be bargained with, or reasoned with; they felt not pity, not remorse, nor fear, and they absolutely would not stop, ever, until their jobs were complete or they were commanded otherwise.
As they wound their way through the fab, Chatham wondered what it would be like to have such a drive, independent of any ethics or human hesitancies. She sometimes felt almost mechanical in her hunt for justice, as if some command line deep inside her been hacked that adolescent evening, over-writing any other directives she might have grown to contemplate. But even then a choice had been made, whether by her own volition or not. She was not a form bound to its function, like these mindless machines, never deviating from their pre-programmed routines. She too had her governance, but within those constraints she was still free to act with some personal will; free to pursue her justice her own way, in direct contravention of orders if and when required, much to her superiors’ irritation. It was a comforting thought, here in this enormous monument to man’s drive to commercial advancement; the almighty pound sterling might still reign supreme, but the detective still got to decide how to spend hers. For now, at least.
Davis broke her from her reverie as he opened a large freight elevator that carried them down to the lower level. “This is a lot to take in, huh?” he asked as they descended. “I don’t know about you, but I’m really worried about what’s happening here.”
Chatham smiled reassuringly. “I’m afraid I don’t have the luxury of anxiety, Mister Santomas,” she lied. “Only a dangerous mix of curiosity and determination.”
The elevator doors parted, and they exited out into a loading dock. It was piled high with crates, each emblazoned with the Ross logo. The detective hunched down below one, prying futilely at the top, but it was nailed shut tight. Davis appeared behind her with a crowbar, and with a concerted effort they lifted the lid off, sending it crashing to the floor with a loud clang.
“What the hell was that?” a voice called from somewhere down the dock.

Dear Jimmy Stewart,
Listen, pal, I love and respect you as an actor, but nobody’s touching my burger.  And that goes for you, too.
Tumblr media
Dear M. Artin,
Oh, snap!  Even more new characters?  Man, I’d better get on with watching that anime.
It’s not very likely that we’ll include them as recipients here, but I’ll keep that idea in mind.  The biggest problem there would be creating sprites for them (or whatever you’d call them in a TV show), but we’ll see.

(Previous Letter)
Dear Inferno,
Knock yourself out if you want to, but don’t expect a pleasant response.
Tumblr media
Dear Guquis,
I sure would -- I’m one of those people, too.  In fact, that’s pretty much how I feel whenever I notice any sort of typo in an answered letter (whether it unintentionally changes the letter’s meaning or not).  Please feel free to let us know if you want us to delete one of your letters before they reach the bottom of the queue and get answered.
Speaking of which, the queue has definitely shrunken down quite a bit since I began here.  It had over 2,000 letters back then, and at the time I’m writing this, it’s down to 1,226.  In terms of wait time, this means that letters have gone from being answered in about three or four months to being answered in about two or three months (I’m not entirely sure if that’s right, but that’s my best guess).
Hooray for progress!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dear astralshiver,
You’re assuming correctly -- I use Google and Wikipedia quite often in order to provide accurate answers for letters.  It’s hard to pinpoint one specific thing I’ve learned, so I’ll just list a few here:
I learned a few interesting things from Ema’s letters during the April Fool’s Day gag, including the RSA algorithm and the feathered dinosaurs theory.
I learned about the ancient artifact known as Hammurabi’s code from this letter.
There was also a letter I couldn’t find that asked Edgeworth about the sinking of the Bismarck during WWII (and the theories behind it).
And finally, I learned about the amazing YouTube channel Extra Credits through a letter from Potatoes (no fooling) in this letter.  Interestingly enough, they also covered the Bismarck in their spinoff series, Extra History.
It’s insane how much you can learn almost by accident, isn’t it?
Tumblr media
Dear Guquis again,
Thank you!  I did my best to sound as close to the original singer (Thurl Ravenscroft) as possible, but my voice isn’t as deep as his.  It seemed like I overdid it a little when I was listening to it, but I'm happy with being close enough in this case.  I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Tumblr media
Dear jnv11,
I never noticed that, actually.  I remembered Rayfa’s birthday being on Christmas Eve, but I somehow forgot about Robert Hammond’s death being on that very same day.  Strange things seem to happen on that day, don’t they?
Tumblr media
(Link in Letter)
Dear BadnesstheHuman,
That’s awesome!  I’m always in favor of expanding a series like Ace Attorney to a broader audience.  Heck, if it wasn’t for Scarlet Study’s translating job, I might never have discovered the genius of Dai Gyakuten Saiban.  I hope they succeed in getting the entire trilogy translated (and beyond that, if possible).
Thanks for trying to share our blog with them, by the way.  It’s not their fault if they don’t appreciate refined humor have the time for it.
Tumblr media
Dear skibot99,
Mod Paups has been preoccupied with hospital business, so lately I’ve mostly been on my own, but we only use Tumblr for letter-answering, not email.  Our current plan is to take turns answering a certain of set of letters at different times of the day.
Also...I couldn’t agree more about things being less stressful with another mod or two.
Tumblr media
Luckily, as you’ve already seen, we now have a total of three moderators, so things might just run a little smoother now.  Technically, there were three of us for a short while (the Mod, Modthorne, and myself), but other than that, there have only been one or two at a time.  I can’t even imagine how the Mod managed it.
Tumblr media
(Previous Letter)
Dear Trearoos,
Nah.  That was supposed to be Athena and Widget saying the same thing simultaneously.  I wish it was easier to portray that in writing, but that was the best way I knew to do it.  Sorry if it was confusing.
Tumblr media
Dear sinyove,
Yeah, I noticed the blog’s banner was messed up, too.  I re-uploaded it, and that seemed to fix it.  Here’s hoping it stays that way.
(Dang it, Tumblr...)

ambush / chandler’s events
Among all of the chaos that was about to happen at headquarters, the real threat they were facing was at Quantico. Chandler and a crew of some of the best were headed there-- many of them unsure if the mission would be successful or if they would even make it out of there alive. But Chandler knew that he could trust April and if she thought sending him there was going to be the best thing, then that’s exactly what Chandler would do.
He had done this hundreds of times. Nothing quite to this scale because a national terroristic threat didn’t happen everyday, but Agent Wyatt was well equipped for situations like this. Chandler on the other hand, he wasn’t equipped for dealing with feelings, especially not at the height of what could possibly turn into the biggest terrorist attack of the decade. He couldn’t allow himself to think about all of that now, if he got too in his head about Cora, he would fail and right now was the worst time to fail.
The plane over there was quick, what would’ve been a 45 minute drive, they cut that time in half. On the ride over, Chandler had been receiving intel from Director Chu as she was getting it. There were a few identified agents stationed at Quantico that were shown to have been linked to the former Agent Kantor-- the suspected terrorist leading this attack. A lot of easily swayed low level agents were mixed in with the list of names, but it was the higher ranks that concerned Chandler and the rest of his team. Some of the names listed were people that many of them had gone to the academy with-- and were even friends with. But Chandler knew Kantor, he knew just how persuasive he could be, especially to those agents that were turned. Kantor would have offered them things they craved since they had started at the academy. Committing a terror attack at the DC base and Quantico just to make a statement would only end in two ways-- his arrest or the mark of the beginning of something terrible. Chandler hoped that it wouldn’t end up being the latter.
They arrived at the base, according to the director before Agent Kantor had arrived, but the signal had been going in and out the whole time, so Chandler wasn’t sure if something was jamming the signal or if it was just a poor connection. Once Chandler and his guys made it into the building things were quiet. It was almost as if no one was around, that everyone had evacuated and the building was empty. But Chandler was sure that wasn’t the case, giving his men the signal to be at the ready at any sign of movement.
His men carefully moved forward, keeping eyes on each other. Before Chandler had the chance to take a step, one of his men tripped a bomb causing everyone to lose balance by being thrown onto the floor from the explosion. The only thing Chandler remembers is hearing the trigger and seeing the explosion.
--
When he finally came to he had been moved to a different room. Hands behind his back, legs tied together with a rope. Stripped of all of his weapons and all of the armor he had come into the building with. He were surrounded by eight men-- ones he could only assume were Agent Kantor’s.
“Michaels, they’re starting to wake up,” one agent said to the other and Chandler could hear them getting their guns at the ready.
“I’m obviously not a threat to you guys, you stripped me clean of my weapons you can put your guns down unless you’re really afraid of some guy tied up,” Chandler responded to them as he used his core strength to sit himself up.
“Shut up, Wyatt,” a familiar voice chimed in as Chandler fell from a kick to his stomach that knocked him back down. It was Agent Jacobson, who he had gone to Quantico with. Unsurprisingly on the wrong side of the fight again.
“Feeling all proud that you can finally get a hit on me, Jacobson,” Chandler spat back at the agent, “only had to get me tied up and unarmed to do it. Looks like Kantor taught you well,” he could barely get his remark out before he felt another blow to his side, this time more in his rib area.
“Jacobson, enough,” Chandler’s head perked up as the voice entered the small room. It was Kyle and Chandler only hoped that Kyle being there meant that he had been playing the double agent card on his undercover mission or if he had just been converted to this side. He looked around, then men seemed to be at ease with Kyle, even waiting for his commands. “Kantor wants to see Agent Wyatt himself in control, I can take it from here,” Kyle walked over to Chandler untying his legs so that he could walk on his own. He stood Chandler up and pulled out a knife holding it against his back making him walk forward. “Let’s go, Wyatt,” Chandler could tell from his voice that he was on his side and thanked April for sending him in as the head of the operation.
In one swift move as their guards were down, Kyle swung the knife down cutting apart the ties that were restricting Chandler and tossed him a gun from his own holster. It took a second for Chandler to readjust, but he was quick to fire at the agents surrounding the two of them, taking down all of the men in non-lethal ways aiming for legs mostly so they couldn’t run. Whatever signal was jamming Chandler from HQ was also jamming their coms so they couldn’t call for help. After it seemed like everyone was down, Chandler and Kyle left the room, but not without a few cuts from bullets that had just grazed his skin. He’d have to worry about that later though.
“MIA for seven months and Halstead still manages to get Wyatt out of every jam he’s in,” Chandler tried his best to joke with his friend, despite his throbbing head that he must’ve hit from the explosion earlier. Kyle just shook his head.
“Kantor really thinks he’s got this place on lock, but we have agents on the inside too, like you said for the past seven months. Don’t worry about your men, they’re with people I can trust. Our top priority right now is getting to Kantor before he successfully hacks into the system at Quantico to release his virus he’s been working on. It’s why the signals are still jammed. I’m dropping you off here, but stay outside of the room”
“You want me to just wait idly while Kantor is in there sending out a mass virus?” Chandler asked.
“While I go retrieve your men from around the entire building, yes,” he stated it so simply. Kyle was always like that though. It didn’t take them long for them to arrive at the room. “I just need you to stand guard, Wyatt. Don’t do anything heroic,” he handed him another gun. “I’ll be back in five minutes with more men,” he nodded to Chandler and took off in another direction. Was it incredibly stupid to leave Chandler by himself with the end goal of the mission right there? Yes. Did he have absolutely no idea what was awaiting in there, also yes. But if he had a chance of stopping this whole thing, it was going to happen. He looked down at his watch keeping note of the time knowing that he only had to distract and disarm Kantor for five minutes so he could stop the signal from getting out. Chandler carefully pushed open the door to reveal Kantor sitting behind his computer, but he was being covered by three men, who of course saw Chandler.
“Fuck,” was all Chandler could say as the men aimed their guns at him. He dove for cover, reaching his arm out too far and jamming his pinky hard into it’s socket against a metal door frame. The amount of adrenaline pumping through his veins would make him forget about the small injury for now. He crouched up behind the boxes and fired his gun at one of the guys hands taking out his weapon. He aimed for another’s back of his knee, hitting it in the first time. The scream the guy made on his way down was actually horrifying. As soon as Chandler thought he had the upper hand on Kantor’s men, he made his way to them so he could fight them hand to hand. It was less lethal to punch them anyways.
As he was running, one of them threw a knife at him, and he couldn’t dodge it on time, sending the blade right into his shoulder. “Who brings a knife to a fist fight?” he asked pulling it out of his shoulder and throwing it to the side as he took down the first guy in two hits and the other with a quick dodge an uppercut, and a kick into the satellite that seemed to have been jamming the signal. Chandler stood over the guy making sure he was down before he felt a sharp blade insert his right side in his back just between some ribs then the same blade into the spot just above his anterior right hip and yank back basically slicing his side open as he spun around from the force of the knife.
He immediately fell to the ground, his hand going to his hip to stop the bleeding that was happening. He crawled back as Kantor stood over him.
“Chandler Bennett, do you think that just because your father is the president means you’re invincible? You should know better than that,” he said condescendingly. At this point Chandler had just hoped the comms had come back on so that anyone was hearing his interaction. He looked down at his watch, successfully wasting four and a half minutes just waiting for those next thirty seconds to come.
“No, I think it just makes me a more distracting target than anyone else, you just couldn’t wait to sink your blade into me that you left your computer unguarded.” his voice was weak and his head was throbbing now. The rate at which he was losing blood was a lot faster than he had anticipated.
“What does it matter, you’re the only one in here with me. Once you’re dead I go back to uploading the virus and I get two wins in one day. You can be so dense sometimes, Agent,” Kantor scoffed and it was almost on queue that Kyle showed up with Chandler’s team, surrounding Kantor and taking him down in Chandler’s final moments of consciousness before the lightness he was feeling in his head made it heavy and everything went dark.

Annnnd some replies.
For @penig, @scribblingsim, @taylors-simblr. @freezerbunny-sims, @tamtam-go92, @dunne-ias, @holleyberry, and @scibirg...
penig replied to your post “Every time I think I’m going to get back on track with keeping up with...”
Bonk the guilt on the head. Following someone is not the same as promising to view all the content. Anybody you're particularly interested in, you can go to the individual blog sometime when you're in the mood. You never get to do all the things you want to do and that's life. Don't turn your leisure into work.
Intellectually I know that. Thing is, there are some things I really do want to catch up on, but then when I sit down at the computer, I end up doing something else. Like, going off and looking at Photoshop tutorials or something because an idea strikes me and I want to check out some ways to make it happen. In short, I need more hours in the day and being able to stay awake for them. But don’t we all, I guess? :)
scribblingsim replied to your link “ModTheSims - Orchard Fruits Gussy Up”
Oh, of *course* I'd find out about this after I finally get my game loaded. LOL ah well. A good download for later.
Ain’t that always the way! *laugh* My game was already loaded, too, when I looked at the downloads on MTS, so adding in the mod will have to wait until the next time I exit and reload it. But it’s in the Downloads folder, waiting for that to happen, at least. :)
taylors-simblr replied to your post “Every time I think I’m going to get back on track with keeping up with...”
Same here, I think ooh I’ll catch up and comment on recent story posts, but then I also want to read a book or play a game or maybe I have ironing to catch up on and then I forget and feel guilty and then the dash moves so fast anyway. It is one of the ways that livejournal/dream width is slightly better. The posts don’t get lost forever in the sheer amount of posts even on one persons tumblr
I actually like the journal system better, overall, for lots of different reasons. (Properly threaded conversations is the main one.) But its downside -- at least the last time I used my LJ -- was that it’s a pain to post pics. Gotta do the upload the pics somewhere and then link to the post thing, which is tedious if it’s a lot of pics, rather than just dragging/dropping like you do with Tumblr. Since Sims-posting tends to be pic-heavy, that’s a real bummer. Buuuuuut yeah, it’s nice that it doesn’t move at breakneck speed like Tumblr does. Tumblr’s definitely meant more for the short-attention-span crowd, I think.
And then people post saying their “dash is dead,” and I’m like, “What? HOW??!!” :)
freezerbunny-sims replied to your post “Question!”
Never tried that but it's a great idea. Wasn't there an option for sims with high enthusiasm in a hobby to instruct other sims? Or does that just increase hobby enthusiasm, not skills? On a side note, maybe some skilling objects could be modded to have an option to instruct other sims, like some of the career rewards already have. I don't know how hard it would be though.
Yeah, the instruct thing does only affect enthusiasm. Which is good, too, for my purposes. Because ultimately skills don’t really matter in this neighborhood. No one has a job and most of the skills, except maybe cooking, are most useful for job promotions and whatnot. They don’t actually have too much of an effect on a Sim’s daily life. What would be good is if instructing would increase badge levels. But I think maybe SimWardrobe’s vocational training podium can do that, now that I think about it. I’ll have to track that down...
tamtam-go92 replied to your post “Oh, I didn't know that "send grave to the community lot" thing didn't...”
I didn't know the sent to graveyard doesn't work probably too! And I always sent ma ghosts there
Using “Move This Grave” works in the sense that it does move the grave and doesn’t break anything in ways that would cause neighborhood corruption, but if keeping the ghosts’ colors/behaviors is important to you, that’s not the way you want to do it. So far as I know, the interaction hasn’t been fixed so that it preserves the colors/behaviors.
holleyberry replied to your post “Hi iCad. I have a morbid question. How do you deal with graves in your...”
I didn't know that about letting the ghost spawn.
Yeah, the issue is that when a Sim dies, a certain amount of time has to pass before the ghost will spawn. I think the time is randomly determined when the Sim dies, but it seems like it can be anywhere between the night of their death (if they died during the day) up to three or four nights after the Sim’s death. If you move the grave to a community lot before the ghost spawns for the first time...Well, time doesn’t actually pass on unowned community lots because they don’t save, so an “unspawned” grave on a community lot will never reach its designated “spawn time.”
So, if you want ghosts on community lots, you have to let the ghost spawn for the first time on a residential lot, where time DOES pass. If you don’t want it to be their home lot (so you don’t have to deal with haunting, for instance), then you could use a gravekeeper, go to THEIR residential lot, and have them plunk the grave down there. Then make motives static and put the game on ultraspeed until the ghost spawns. THEN put the “pre-spawned” grave on the community lot. Then the ghost will appear there.
tamtam-go92 replied to your post “Question!”
It's not quite in topic but in my normal gameplay I pretend that teens that don't attend University do an apprenticeship. They have to get a Job and when they go to school I tell it trade school. But since neither exist in your neighborhood I think your Suggestion seems a good Option! As someone who did an apprenticeship I wish there Was something like that in game.
I tend to not like the schooling in the game at all. Probably because I’m not a fan of the “standard” public school system in the US, which is what the game’s school is based on. :) For instance, I violently disagree with the entire concept of “homework” IRL, so I homeschooled my real kids, and in my game, I come up with alternative ways to educate kids/teens that are actual practical (As in, they gain actual skills or badges or whatever) as opposed to just something that sends them off the lot for X hours and all they get is meaningless “grades.” I’ve not done apprenticeship before, but that sort of system makes logical sense for this neighborhood, since it is mostly trades-based, so I’m going to work out some kind of system.
dunne-ias replied to your post “Question!”
I played it once similar to your plan. The teen would move in with the mentor (unless the mentor was their parent) but I would have them stay there, not move them back to their parents's house as I think that made more sense. They were often invited home though for big events and sometimes just dinner. I also made the parents pay the mentor. I think a certain amount of days of apprenticeship would be reasonable, or a certain amount of work done so that skilled workers-
2/2 - would be able to finish their apprenticeship faster. Once they were done they were moved back in with the parents until they had enough money to move out, so the cost of moving out wasn't subtracted from the mentor, but the parent (I had the no20Khandouts.)
With the Sim Transporter, I can move individual Sims into and out of different households at will, without the moving-around affecting anyone's money. (Although there is no money in this neighborhood, so it doesn't really matter. :) ) I use it to run daycares and schools in my game. For this neighborhood...Teens will all leave their birth household on the morning after their teen bday, mostly because space will be at a premium and they’ll need to get out to make room for their younger siblings. :)  They'll move to the communal lot, going into the queue to earn their own house. So I was thinking that when playing the communal lot, any apprentices would just get transported out somewhere for a block of days -- to simulate being "at training" -- and then transported back. Then when I play the mentoring household, I can use the transporter to move their “assigned” apprentice(s) in for their days of actual training and then transport them back when they're done. I think it'll work....
The detail I'm not really clear on is how to run the training. I suppose they can just do all the mentor's work, give them a break. *laugh* But I'd like there to be some interaction between mentor and apprentice as wel. It'd be nice if there was some sort of social interaction to “pass on” skills or badges, sort of like how you can pass along earned business benefits... Maybe I can rig something up with Sophie-David's "opportunity" items (There's a thought...) or maybe SimWardrobe’s vocational trainer or both. Maybe have them do hands-on work one day and then “classroom”-learn from the mentor the next and switch off that way. That might work...
I've got time to think about it, though; it'll be a while before there are any born-in-game teens in this neighborhood! *laugh*
tamtam-go92 replied to your post “This looks crazy. I wonder, how do you take the second baby out of the...”
It's still possible that the fences of the cribs can be put down to put the babies in
Now that I think about it, I don’t actually recall if the crib “doors” are animated on those cribs. Of course, that’s how such a thing would work in real life, but I’ve not paid attention to whether or not those cribs are animated in-game....
scibirg replied to your post “This looks crazy. I wonder, how do you take the second baby out of the...”
I once played a medieval game and the Picaso's were living in a tiny hovel and just kept having kids (ACR of course). With the shelf beds from simlogical I was able to cram an amazing number of sims into their one bedroom house!
Oh, yeah. Shelf beds will definitely be used! (That’s why the second bedroom in the houses is three tiles deep. :) ) I’m figuring I can stack three of them per side of the room and then maybe put a floor mattress underneath the “stack,” thus cramming in eight kids. If there’s more than that at a time, tents will be broken out! :)
tamtam-go92 replied to your photo “Attempting to befriend another wolf. This one’s a female because I...”
Won't they bite the sim and turn her into a werewolf?
(This is an old reply. Sorry about that, dear; I missed it when I did the last batch of replies.)
Anyway, no, only the “Leader of the Pack” -- the wolf with the glowing yellow eyes -- can turn a Sim into a werewolf. The others are just really aggressive big dogs that are rather hard to build relationships with because many interactions are rejected at first and the wolf tends to leave before you can get very far, so you have to wait for the same one to show up again to continue to work on the relationship. I do want someone to befriend/adopt the Leader, though. Mostly because I’ve never had anyone become a werewolf by the “real” in-game method. *laugh*

Hey so there’s obviously a lot of people leaving tumblr, and although this blog isn’t (or at least “shouldn’t be”) impacted by the Big Decision, I’m curious if anyone thinks it’s a smart idea for me to double-host this somewhere else or something.
Tumblr’s easily the most convenient place to host this that I know of since it allows for long posts, lets me queue a bunch of stuff in advance (my availability is inconsistent, so mostly only coming on occasionally to queue 2 weeks worth of posts in big bursts in advance is the only way i’ve been able to not miss a day ever), and Tumblr also has a decent sized audience that gets reached out to immediately compared to other equivalent platforms.
The “also has a decent sized audience that gets reached out to...” thing is possibly going to change though? I hear A LOT of people talking about leaving and acting like the platform will basically die.
So I don’t know, I could probably get a bot to just link to these posts on a twitter daily or something, but that feels like it doesn’t do the content justice since you’d have to click to see the actual descriptions, it’d just be a bunch of links to vgm yt vids with no context in practice.
I know youtube lets you queue and schedule uploads but it feels kind of overcompensating to host this by constantly uploading videos there, and again, takes focus away from the text. Even if I made videos that showed a timesig counter which could be useful, it’d take up too much time for this to continue to be daily (though I will say I’ve thought of making a general “music theory in relation to vgm” yt channel that’s more focused on the proggy/experimental side of VGM than other equivalent channels, but that’s a project for when I run out of stuff to post on here I think).
I’ve thought about making my own website/forum/something for it, but that’d require more manual updating and wouldn’t conveniently show up in people’s feeds/etc. I think the nice part about this is at least, personally, I like accounts like this, “[thing] of the day” so I always have it to look forward to in my feed on whatever site I’m using.
Anyways I’m planning on continuing to host this here until the end if I can, just wondering if it’s worth taking the time now to double-host it elsewhere and what platforms would be active enough and featureful enough to be worth my time to do it on.

Breakbot + Busy P + MYD + Alan Braxe + Borussia @ XOYO, 26 May 2018  [Review]
Tumblr media
A fantastic reward for the comedy of errors that is my life.
Been a while since I did a review of a gig! Technically, I should have done one for Justice last September, but given the amount of content I gained from that performance, I keep thinking that one has to be several gifsets and a video upload instead of me rambling on. I’ll get to it in a billion years;;; Over the weekend I went to this all-nighter and didn’t sleep for like, 30 hours? And I’m still recovering. So much like the TBB review last year, this is going to read super disjointed, like a bunch of random stream-of-consciousness notes I took over several hours. (Which 70% of this review actually relies on.) There are pics and a few lil’ gifs, all splendidly red-tinted to reflect the lighting in the club, but the tl;dr is essentially:
Tumblr media
The Journey
As previously stated, I do not live in London. London is not easy to navigate. I do not have the strongest sense of direction and frequently map out walking paths and exact number of turns and landmarks nearby my intended destinations, which works for me 9/10 of the time - but this means that when things go bad, they tend to go really bad holy fucking shit under the influence of certain factors XOYO is the hardest fucking club to find in the entire universe. I have never had this much trouble finding a single location despite having such clear directions from multiple sources. It’s not the club’s fault, of course, thousands of people find it just fine - the stars just utterly refused to align for me this particular weekend, turning what should have been a straightforward path from A to B to over an hour of running around.
Tumblr media
To attend to this spectacular all-nighter, I took the train from my university city to London, alighting in King’s Cross St. Pancras around 7pm. XOYO is located about a minute away from Old Street Station, which as you can see from the above image of the Northern Line is only two stops away; I could have been at the club in less than ten minutes. Because of this, I was slow to take the Tube when I initially arrived, instead stopping for a snack and some adequate hydration at King’s Cross (also tutting at Platform 9¾ which is not that impressive a display but that’s neither here nor there); I don’t think that was unwise in itself, but it was a decision that I ended up regretting, because it meant I didn’t find out about the spanner in the works until it was almost too late.
Tumblr media
ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
A five-minute journey on a single subway train from A to B was all I was asking. Well it turns out I couldn’t do that!!! Because fucking engineering works!!!! All the Northern line service bilboards and directional posters were papered over and the information being given was often deeply counterproductive (or outright incorrect). First I was directed to Euston to try to make a switch there, but no Northern line services were running at all. Then I came back to King’s Cross and subsequently tried out Moorgate on the Circle/Metropolitan line, which was running Northern line services - but nothing northbound, like I needed! This was exceptionally infuriating because Moorgate is only one stop away from Old Street station. I was delayed for nearly an hour purely trying to solve this problem, because even past 7-8pm the stations were s t u f f e d with people all trying to navigate this Northern line dilemma in their own way. This line splits along the way, too, so depending on where you’re headed to and where in the ‘part closure’ your intended destination sits, you could be lost in utterly infuriating bullshit like I did, being only 1-2 stops away from where you are and being unable to get to it unless you walk or take overhead transport.
And, you know, those people had already paid and gone past the barrier when they found out about the closures. Most of that info could only be had inside. At King’s Cross St Pancras, the only info available outside the barrier were announcements on rail replacement buses - confusingly worded at that, all three of them entirely northbound from King’s Cross St Pancras (I needed southbound for Old Street). The London Underground isn’t obscenely expensive, but it’s not disposable money either! There’s a bus directly from King’s Cross to Old Street Station (which I ended up taking in order to return) - but if you paid and entered the Tube station, you’re going to want to solve the problem before signing back out of the barrier!
fml in the end I just walked. 7-8 mins from Moorgate and then XOYO itself is hidden in an alley between two massive building complexes with naught but a red neon sign to point your way. It’s not a big neon sign. On one hand maybe it was a good thing I was held up traveling. I arrived about 5 mins after the club opened and was let in straight away. If things had gone as I’d planned I might have ended up camping out in front of XOYO for an extremely awkward hour or whatever. There was no queue; despite it all, I was that early, and was amply rewarded for my earliness. But man.
On the other hand, I was dehydrated all over again.
Hour-by-Hour Review
Contrary to the anguished nature of the vent above, most of the night was damn excellent and the review below is the main meat of the experience. I recollected this through small notes I was making on my phone - mostly of timestamps and a single keyword, like what songs were playing at the time - and some videos I took, the position of each photo, and my own memory from yesterday. They are patchy notes, but they are as detailed as I can make them, and largely accurate. Essentially: if you’ve read this far, I invite you to come live the night with me all over again! :D
9:30PM - 11:00PM: I was the only person seeking entry to XOYO when I finally turned up, though music was already playing inside. “You here for an event?” The guard asks, and I produce my ticket and passport. “Just so you know, there’s a band playing in there at the moment - the actual, uh, techno, that’s not going to start until ten o’clock. You can go in now, but once you’re in, you’re in - you won’t be able to come back out and back in again.”
I just look at them. “What am I going to do outside for half an hour. That’s fine.”
Ticket scanned, passport checked and confirmed, bag check occurs. I read that XOYO has airport-security level bag checks, but that was not my experience. I might just have been too damn early to raise any alarms. I’m let in, visit the bar, buy some water, visit the bathroom, tidy up a bit, tie my jacket around my waist to conceal my bag, etc. Around 9:45PM I peer down at the main room downstairs to check out this band, although I come back up shortly to prepare for the main experience...
... which, uh, doesn’t take place until eleven. After the band leaves around 10PM, what actually happens is that the main room is sealed off for DJ setups while in Room 2 upstairs Joshua James plays. I had the choice of saving my energy for later and resting on the bench, or going to see him; I chose the former. Security guy lingering in front of the main room says it might open in ‘half an hour’ when I ask him on the dot at 10PM. My guy that’s the longest damn half hour I have ever waited in my life. At least I can people-watch and save my place because like always, I want to be at the front when the doors open.
11:00PM: The main room finally opens and Borussia is in the house. The dancefloor is very empty for about half an hour while he gets the crowd going. Ushers frequently come by, brandishing red penlights to take away glasses and empty bottles and lost property and the like. XOYO only has a max capacity of 800~ people and I’m fairly sure that’s spread across two rooms; the glasses are like, proper solid pub glasses, too, actual breakage hazards. I imagine it’s because it’s a small and intimate club that the choice of glasses makes sense; even in Electric Brixton they gave out plastic, and that one holds close to 2000 people. I saw several toppling over or rolling on the ground before someone came to snatch up the whole stack of them. I applaud their diligence.
11:10PM: Also this dancefloor is incredibly sticky. Pedro is visible on the left. He talks to a backstage fan before disappearing.
11:23PM: There’s a girl next to me with her boyfriend. We meet eyes. This girl will recur a few more times during the night. Swig of water taken.
11:30~PM: A note about the stage structure of XOYO.
As mentioned previously, XOYO is a two-room club, one upstairs and one downstairs. Downstairs is the main and the top one’s for opening acts and smaller shows; the downstairs has a dancefloor, a bar off to the side, and an elevated stage. Now the important thing about this stage is that you can get on it. There are no barriers between audience and DJ in a XOYO set, except for the ready-built DJ booth and all the speakers and equipment set that may or may not be piled around it. There is a steel mesh of sorts to separate the sides of the DJ booth from the stage/dancefloor viewing area, but aside from that, it is entirely possible for you to mount the performing stage and be about two feet from the DJ at any given time. Around this time is when people begin to mount the stage and like. Dance. But sparsely.
I will return to this stage later. I’m currently parked in front of the DJ booth.

Pedro pops back into the scene briefly. He doesn’t linger for long there, but he’ll be back for the switchover. This is the best photo I could get ffffff
11:40~PM (not long after the above): Borussia puts Gorillaz’s ‘DARE’ on and the room goes fucking wild. The girl returns. This time we meet more than eyes and actually dance together, her boyfriend hitching her up on his back for about 30 seconds midway. This is the first point of the night that Borussia starts smiling and I’m taken by how sweet his smile is.
11:54PM: You know what I think Borussia kind of looks like Gesa if you squint
12:00~AM: Pedro in the house. He takes over slowly from Borussia, who exits amidst thunderous applause. For some reason, Pedro did not look awfully happy for most of the show. Compared to the last time I saw him DJ (opener for Justice) he seemed like... stoic? Like he had a lot in his mind. He was capable of cheer when need be, man knows how to drive a crowd, but like... the air about him was different. I have no explanation for this. It may just have been my perception.
12:00 - 12:30AM (?): I genuinely cannot remember when this first happened, only I remember Pedro being at the forefront and giving the people involved an amused glance at some point in the night. So it goes here, even though they might first have appeared during Borussia. Two incredibly scantily dressed and also gorgeous dancers, one male and one female (visibly), rolled out of the backstage area and began dancing on the elevated stage around the same time e v e r y o n e began piling on. I’d kill for the ability to dance on the heels they did holy fuck
12:13AM: I CAN SEE IRFANE OFF TO THE SIDE YES HE CAME AFTER ALL I know he’s officially part of Breakbot now but the XOYO description made it sound as if only Thibaut was coming. False alarm! The duo lives on.
12:28AM (?): Girl I was dancing with earlier + her boyfriend reappears from the bar direction. She mounts the elevated stage and disappears into the crowd.
12:30AM (?): THIBAUT AND SO-ME SPOTTED I WANT TO ATTACH THE PHOTO OF THIS MOMENT but it’s too blurry fuck shit
12:34AM: With a grin worth a million pounds Pedro puts on ‘Audio, Video, Disco’. Lighting changes to bombastic yellow and everybody just about dies for the next five minutes to follow. This was universally the reception whenever anything Daft Punk or Justice came on (Pedro also played ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ immediately after) - many people, Thibaut included, had Justice shirts on and earlier on the 26th Justice played a set on All Points East, so this was understandable.
12:39AM: Fuck it. I’m going on the elevated stage. I just hitched myself up.
12:40~AM: I can see so much better from here.
There’s a bit on the stage where the steel mesh barrier ends, and the DJ set curves away from the rest of the stage, where you can see everyone in the booth really clearly. Currently this spot is occupied by a dude and a girl who I progressively come to realize was getting increasingly drunk/high - she was clinging onto the sides - so I just gravitate towards the steel mesh instead, neglected by most people. For most part my view is blocked by people hanging around from backstage but every now and then they vacate, and I get a good side view. Not long after I settle in, Thibaut pops up for a short while, swigging from a bottle - and the girl I was dancing with from before almost crashes into the mesh shouting her hellos at him. (This is when I realize that she’s French.)
And, uh, I mean. What can you do when a thing like that happens. I join in, of course. Thibaut did not hear either of us before slinking back, but this did have the effect of the girl patting me on the shoulder for our first real conversation:
French girl: [Muffled something]
Me: Ah?
French girl: [After a few tries through the noise] You like Thibaut?
Me: Yeah! Came to see him mostly!
French girl: 😍💖😍💖😍 I’M THE BIGGEST FAN 😍💖😍💖😍
The oddest thing is that during this exchange, the boyfriend guy with her kind of gently takes off my hat and tries to put it back on me backwards. I have no idea what the fuck and I give him a look that conveys that I have no idea what the fuck ‘cause like... dude why are you taking my hat exactly??? Am I missing something??? I replace it and carry on. The girl’s swept away towards the bar again.
12:40~AM: Pedro is the only person who can pull off LeLe’s ‘Breakfast’ in a DJ set without it descending into narm territory imo
12:40~AM: MYD IS HERE MYD IS HERE
Tumblr media
1:00AM: Thibaut and Irfane take over at last, the latter first, then Thibaut more fully. Mama P stays at the back, watching over the situation, before silently withdrawing.
Tumblr media
The stage is so crowded I can barely breathe. French girl does not return. Ushers begin to move about the dancefloor carrying large foreboding black bags, not for glasses but for lost property.
1:00~AM: J E S U S
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1:10~AM: So-Me is the third one in the booth. I wish people would announce it properly whenever he turns up - I didn’t think to expect him at all, as he was not there with Pedro when I saw him open for Justice and his name wasn’t on the guests list. He feels like a lottery treat ; w ;
Tumblr media
1:10~AM: Usher on the elevated stage. He finds a credit card on the floor and flashes an exact 🤨 look in my direction, as I was the closest to him. “Not mine,” I mouth at him, and he stashes the card in the lost property bag before vanishing into the crowd.
1:11AM: Come to think of it I’ve seen people lose some seriously scary shit on dancefloors. Like when I went to see TBB and Justice, on both occasions I’ve seen someone lose their foreign identity card. I’d be fucking terrified for my life if that happened to me - and given that I’m toting my passport around (some places don’t seem to accept BRP...?), which I cannot afford to lose whatsoever, I enter a state of brief panic while I check that nothing has been thieved from my bag. All clear.
1:23-25AM: Jesus Christ Irfane is so touchy-feely with Thibaut they’re in love I’m literally crying
1:30~AM: Because of the above mentioned affection-shenanigans, I stop dancing in order to get some photos and videos of the pair. One of the backstage fans notices. “Do you want me to take a picture for you?” He shouts through the mesh; I hesitate, because I’m not in the business of giving my phone away to strangers, but I take the risk. It turned out he made this offer during a period of very weird lighting and it wasn’t a good time for photos, but this is the best out of several attempts from him:
Tumblr media
“It’s not a good time,” he shouts as he hands my phone back over. “sorry.”
“Thank you anyway,” I holler through the bars. He flashes a grin and we carry on.
1:30~AM (after the above): Remember the scantily dressed gorgeous dancers? They’re back, dancing on a bunch of speakers (?) next to the side view. Drama with the (drunk?) girl hogging the side view; she gets into a conflict with one of the dancers and it gets really fucking tense. I’m not 100% on what happened, but I can imagine that something that wasn’t meant to be touched was touched or that she was giving the dancer some serious attitude - like the girl was literally grabbing the (drunk?) girl by the face and telling her to get a fucking grip. The dude with her eventually leads her away and the dancers dismount the stage, disappearing into the crowd - I didn’t see them return again, which was a right shame.
tl;dr I took the empty spot and was able to photo marginally better than before.

Best quality: his wiggles
(He was mouthing along to ‘Why?’.)
1:40~AM: I keep thinking I stepped on something. This continues for some five minutes before I finally look down and yep whoops I was stepping on something all right. It was a hefty croc leather wallet/purse thing, all black, very sticky from the floor. I set it down in front of me and handed it over to an usher less than two minutes after. Another swig of water. Thibaut’s wiggles do not in any way pale next to Irfane’s.
Tumblr media
1:50AM (?): Yet another event I know happened but can’t remember where exactly to place. ‘My Toy’ comes on. I hear this one is a fan favourite and while I can think of better songs in Still Waters, I get to see for myself just how true this statement is. In fact, Breakbot played quite a few of their stuff - not a lot, but enough to bring on significant cheers whenever they did. ‘Back For More’ was the starter and ‘Fantasy’ came on at some point but ‘My Toy’ was easily the most popular of the lot!
2:00AM: Alan Braxe takes over. Irfane and Thibaut continue to linger, as does So-Me, but I’m beginning to see Myd far more often - he must provide the climax to this all-nighter. He had a vinyl signing earlier on the 26th; he’s greeted with cheers whenever he’s visible.
2:00 - 4:00AM: A broad sweeping observation to indicate that my phone is dying a horrible death by this point of the night. I brought an external battery and had it going again once I left the club, but fuck trying to fumble with that in the middle of a club. All those photos did it, especially the videos, and burning the battery on that so quickly was not a good idea because I wanted to take more of Alan and Myd boo
2:20~AM: Alan’s set is considerably darker in tone. Probably more like what I’m used to before I got into EDM, in fact. I consider him responsible for the mild whiplash I got from headbanging.
2:24AM: XOYO’s smoke machines are at their peak performance around this time and I can barely see a thing. Not being a big venue, this is a problem. Irfane and Thibaut and So-Me pop back up for a selfie with one of the backstage fans and rope Alan into participating; he does so exactly once and turns back, as professional as always, while the other stay on for a second and third go.
2:30~AM: wHAT’S THAT I HEAR???? CRESCENDOLLS?????
2:30~AM: IT’S CRESCENDOLLS
2:35AM: Hey remember when it took Irfane 10 years to figure out the Very Disco = Veridis Quo pun
2:40~AM: By this point I’m getting super hungry and I’m just about out of water. Water in XOYO is expensive. Something like 2.50 for a 300ml bottle. The DJs had a stack of these bottles by the side and were powering through them at alarming speed when they weren’t drinking other things. It’s my policy to go early and buy a bottle of water at the bar of wherever I attend a gig or concert, pretty much always. It’s my first time running out with more than an hour to go, though, but despite this I keep dancing with the empty bottle clutched in my hand. I don’t actually remember why. Maybe I thought I’d fill it up after the show or something. Spoilers: I didn’t
2:55AM: Right as Myd is taking over some dude pokes me and asks to have a sip of my water. I should not have been dancing with that empty bottle. He looks disgruntled when I tell him it’s empty and moves on. Sorry my dude I only wish I’d have been able to spare even a drop but I was genuinely out;;;;;
3:00 - 4:00AM: I hate having to sum it up like this but due to aforementioned factors (dying legs + low battery + lack of water) I do not actually remember much of Myd’s set. This is a great injustice to the man and it’s pretty much entirely my fault for not taking any time to rest (seating was provided near the bar) or not buying myself another drink; next time he’s in the UK, wherever he may be and whoever he might be with, I shall make the effort to hunt him down and give him a proper listen. What I remember of his set was brilliant, cheery but mysterious, coupled with Daft Punk’s ‘Rock n’ Roll’ somewhere in the middle. Please enjoy this terrible picture of him taken with my phone’s dying strength.
Tumblr media
3:18AM: I can timestamp this accurately because it’s on the last video I took of the night. Enjoy some Myd wiggles
Tumblr media
3:30~AM: This was roughly when ‘Rock n’ Roll’ was on! Irfane chatting away in the corner. So-Me lending a hand. Five minutes in he leans over and distributes stickers (I think) into the crowd. I was sadly on the other side and did not get a chance to receive any.
3:40~AM: People are beginning to hunker down on the elevated stage or leaving altogether. The night is drawing to a close.
3:55AM: Phone blinks out completely at this point. XOYO is open from 9:30pm-4am on Fridays and Saturdays (also 21+ years only policy, which I appreciate) so I figured Myd should be winding down about now. Every DJ participating so far has switched out/bowed out after an hour, after all. Myd might need a minute more to think about it.
4:03AM: Myd might need three more minutes to think about it.
4:04AM: Myd might need four or five more minutes to think about it.
4:10AM: Myd why are you doing this. Myd it’s past closing time. Myd my guy you’re pouring ambrosia upon the unworthy. Myd ple
4:15AM~: In the end I leave a few minutes early. I have to stress that this had absolutely nothing to do with the quality of Myd’s set nor that he was playing beyond closing time - encores and extra content are extremely good! It’s just that my legs were dead! ;A  ; I limped upstairs and washed my face etc and he was still playing when I came out. That’s dedication.
The End
As soon as it’s actually over, cheers went up - and as I’m sitting at the bench near the entrance of the club just trying to get my shit together, everyone files out all at once to a bunch of weary-looking security guards wishing us all a good night.
I join the line. It’s bright outside already. Some of the guards offer to call us a cab and some of the people take them up on it. I myself walk out of the club, turn left, and down Old Street Yard to examine the bus stops. One of the bus lines are 24hr and go directly to King’s Cross; as I reach one of the relevant stops and lean around, trying to figure out the times, the French girl from earlier recognizes me and pats me on the shoulder. “You were the girl dancing next to me, right?”
“Yep, that’s me.”
“How are you?”
“I’m good and so exhausted I could melt into the floor.”
She giggles and bids me goodnight as she moves to another bus stop. I didn’t get to ask her about Thibaut, as she wasn’t by me when he came on, but I can only assume she had a good time too. Soon the 214 comes along and I hop on towards King’s Cross. The sun is rising and the white noise in my legs dissipates, just a little, only to be gone completely some twenty hours later. Feels good man.
