I hate CQL sometimes for making Jiang Cheng somehow heartbroken about trying to kill Wei Wuxian, and by extension Lan Wangji who tried to keep Wei Wuxian from falling.
Like dude went and tried to hack some arms off deliberately after calling for a siege, where is all this heartbreak for killing the one he wanted dead suddenly coming from here??? At least in the book his hate of Lan Wangji was in line with hating anyone that passed him in terms of skills and his continued jealousy of Lan Wangji being kind to others weaker than himself. He's purely petty to him because Wei Wuxian liked him when they were young, and is also a homophobe with a weirdly spot on gayday. In CQL it's because... Lan Wangji still tried to protect Wei Wuxian who he hated yet after he... feels bad for making Wei Wuxian fall even though he still hates Lan Wangji for trying to protect his said target. It's bad writing with trying to make one of the obvious antagonists suddenly "morally grey".
In the book he has no such regrets for trying to kill Wei Wuxian, and actively hunted down to torture others because he thought he would possess someone. That does not sound at all like he was heartbroken, so CQL keeping some of this is just really bad storytelling since Jiang Cheng at every turn either made things worse for Wei Wuxian or guilted him into believing loyalty to the Jiangs was above actual morality since they once shared thoughts of revenge, which Wei Wuxian got with the death of Wen Ruohan's forces.
CQL trying to humanize him by making him feel bad sometimes for wanting to kill Wei Wuxian, is just missing the point of him having never understood Wei Wuxian's actions and thoughts and ruins the nice little mirrors between him and Lan Wangi.
All in all, not once in the original source material does Jiang Cheng express regret for any of the deaths he caused, especially his part in Wei Wuxian's death since he goes a second time to off Wei Wuxian even.
This is not even an analysis this is me genuinely being very salty with how they butchered the parallels between the two characters I enjoy since it just deflated so many important themes integral to their personalities.
What they did to Lan Wangji is a whole other rant that will never end on my side... but damn is Wang Yibo pretty and I can't help but enjoy how much fun he was given the material he had to work with.

Sadly not everyone was supportive of Wangii’s new style.
Inspired by @yizhanforeversworld fabulous post and stuff I saw on twitter.
I was finally motivated to try making blended and multiple gifs.
I’m just enjoying the idea of an au where Wangji just shows up looking like that.
