I think it’s easy to underestimate the enormity of Beatrice’s decision to try and place the crown on Ava.

It happens in a flash, it’s followed by The Kiss (which is everything). I think some viewers might even have missed she was holding the crown at all.

And so much happens and events spiral so quickly, it’s easy to forget where in the story Beatrice stands at this point.

Beatrice does not know the specifics of Adriel’s plan. At this point in the story, the OCS’ best guess is Adriel will use the portal to bring through unlimited wraith demons. 

That’s the stakes for them: complete the mission or face a full on demon apocalypse. It’s literally “do this or the world ends.”

And Beatrice has lost so much. She’s lost Shannon just months ago, she’s lost Mary, Vincent betrayed them, to all appearances they’ve lost Lilith to Adriel for good. More of her closest family have died or abandoned her than not.

What more could the universe take from her?

And then the universe points at Ava and says “that one.”

You know those few months you got to spend away from the thick of battle? The short breath of time where you tasted life? Where you fell in love? Where you let yourself believe that — just maybe — happiness was possible? I want that. I want the person at the center of that, I want the one who gave you that.

Beatrice says no.

Putting the crown on Ava is not a discussion. It’s not a reassessment of the plan. It’s putting her unconscious to get her out. It’s aborting the mission.

The mission to save the world, where failure means wraith demons everywhere and most likely a literal apocalypse, and Beatrice says “No.”

Not if the cost is her.

Because how just is a world that keeps demanding this kind of suffering and sacrifice? There has to be another way for the world, because if there isn’t, she will not save it.

Not at this cost.

The closed window behind Mary is already reminiscent of prison, yet her comment is both a remark on how she can leave after visiting her own mother as well as a promise that she is definitely and defiantly going to leave Mother Superion to this jail all by herself — because, in this moment, Mother Superion is stuck there. Her own visit to Duretti has him coming in and later out of what is, to all intents and purposes, her cell, Swiss Guards on either side of the gate acting as her jailers.

She says she seeks guidance and, although Duretti says basically nothing, he does provide the moral guidance that completes the lesson received from Mary earlier. Mother Superion’s expression, as she turns towards us after seeing her “cell” being shut again, locking her in with her sense of obligation, her rigidity, her hierarchical position, her spiritual dead end, tells us all we need to know. Even the light comes in through the bars from the left of our screen, as it came through the window when Mary spoke: they’re on the same side, now, and the prisoner is freeing, if not yet her body, then her mind and resolve.

He's 40 years old, he doesn't have Cap anymore, dating a young girl could attract attention from young fangirls, it could also show that he can attract a young audience. Keeping in mind that the favorite actors of the moment are young Timmy Chalamet and Austin Butler.

When celebs age, they know they’re not going to visually appeal to the youngest group of fandoms out there. That’s typically where the younger stars get attention. From fans closer to them in age. No one is trying to market Chris Evans to the teen/young 20s groups out there. They’re going to look at him like an old grandpa the same way we all looked at 40+ men when we were in our teens vs. the 20 to early 30 something stars. Similar to Timothee, Austin, Tom Holland, and K pop stars.

Along those lines, if Chris wanted to date younger to attract a younger audience, he would still need to pick a younger celeb that at least had a decent fanbase and Alba hasn’t been in the industry long enough to build something like that yet. She has a small handful of Warrior Nun fans, but that isn’t going to pull numbers for him. Not like someone like Zendaya, Hailee Steinfeld, or Millie Bobby Brown would. To be clear, I’m NOT advocating that he date those younger stars, just pointing out the difference in fan base sizes for younger celebs. They’re far more popular than Alba with younger crowds. 🦎

Does it make sense that when I started watching Warrior nun, I immediately felt a rush of fondness and affection for Kristina, and it only grew after I saw what she's like on Twitter and Instagram? Now there's fondness, affection, and a lot of admiration. For example, I've literally never seen an actor reaching out to the media to promote the show, it's like she was the only person from the crew giving a damn. And she's so funny in her interactions with others. Where was I going with this? 😅

no i totally get you!! im actually in love with her if you couldnt tell. i also feel its because she herself knows what its like to be in a fandom (she mentioned in a few interviews) like she cosplays, goes to conventions, just knows the life of a *fangirl* essentially, so she acknowledges and takes time for the fans with fanart, silly content and with #warriornunwednesday where she answers fan question on twitter. she also is actively reaching out to those who want to interview her even for just a few minutes to be able to talk about the show. she is not given enough credit for basically and single-handedly promoting the show on her own when shes not even obligated to do so. plus like u said shes soooo funny she just gets it ya know

smth that ive thought abt n that i dont think ive ever seen touched upon is how similar bea n lilith should be in terms of life experience. like we know canonically that bea never drank. probs never went to a party, or rave or anything like that. didnt have partners most likely, probs never had her first kiss before ava n stuff. theres a lot of first times that beatrice probably experiences cuz of ava in s2, a lot of just. normal regular first times, things teenagers or young adults do, maybe college students, whatever. the most freedom she had was when she was younger, when she "was stepping out of line" as she said, probs doing child things n being dumb, ofc.

lilith is probably the same, except even worse. because i think she was taught to be the warrior nun as soon as possible. bea was actively repressing herself; lilith doesnt even acknowledge theres anything to repress. shes just the future warrior nun, not a mere 12 year old. shes a sister warrior, not just your average 16 year old. as long as her parents were there to watch, she is nothing but a legacy. and i do think lilith had her rebellious phase, ofc. but i dont think it was while she was living with her parents, or even when she was a minor. she knew to make all those obedient, nice years count and as soon as she left for good, she declared she was a new girl, n she would now do things she wanted to do. except... she cant.

she still has to train to be a warrior nun. sure she read books, non religion books. but the guilt of not upholding her end of the bargain of being born in her family as the next in line warrior nun would soon overcome her, n she would drop it. "i'll read it in the future" "i'll try that when im older n independent" its smth all teens, especially teen girls think. when im older, i'll be free. but lilith is not allowed that at all. she knows she likes things... but can she even allow herself the time to enjoy them?? can she watch movies in peace? can she go out, maybe make friends, go on cafe dates, go to the cinema, go shopping? without thinking abt her destiny? can she??? is she allowed peace???

lilith wanted to be free, cuz she thought it was only her parents holding her down. little did she know, while her parents built her cage, she was painting it finished. with how she was raised, lilith was never thought to feel *her* emotions as lilith, but only as warrior nun. n even if her parents ever allowed her peace, she wouldnt have taken it. shes going to be the warrior nun. she has to be. what else is she, but that?
