About the imprinting (again sos)... I was reading ACOTAR and they have "Mates" which is something when two people just "click" and somehow they are matched, but like the females are free to refuse the bond. In my mind this is how imprinting works or should be (change my mind SM kkkkkk).
But seriously read ACOTAR give me a lot of insights to twilight stuff that I'm always questioning, and for me that's it, I will pretend those are the rational explanations because SM doesn't complete the work
I'm the cataloger at a public library and we get a lot of paranormal romance books that patrons request. It's a popular genre. And reading the synopses of these books has taught me this sort of compulsory love is . . . not uncommon. Now I don't recall seeing any books where it involves babies/children, but the more adult trope of like Supernatural Alpha Male getting some sort of instant, possessive connection to a woman and Lots of Sex is Had is ALL OVER THE GENRE.
That said, this genre doesn't seem to be the kind of thing SM herself was reading back when she was writing these books, and her take on imprinting seems to be a lot more cozy innocent pure love (Amish romances are also a popular genre?? And they have more of this sort of innocent Hallmark flavor) versus such intense and sudden sexual chemistry so she wouldn't see the connection between the tropes but I think there's something there.
And I get it. There's an appeal to the idea that you meet the person meant for you and you just KNOW. There's no dating around. There's no 'wasting' 2, 4, 6 years of your life with a person and then realizing they're never going to marry you and have to break up and start over. I get the fantasy of that surety. But when you take it to such extremes where there is no CHOICE it just loses all romance for me. I'm such an introvert and so much in my head I'd be like "okay but WHY are we destined? Why do they like me? Would they like me without this magic? Would I like THEM without this magic?" "MY SPECIES FINDS THEIR MATES THIS WAY, JOIN ME IN SENSUAL BLISS, MY FOREVER LOVE." "Okay, but like, do you even know my name? What's my favorite color? Do you care?"
And then the imprinting version is like "YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME EVER! YOU'RE SO AWESOME! AMAZING! CAN I GET YOU ANYTHING?!" "Okay that's nice but like, why? What about me is amazing?" "YOU JUST ARE! IT'S LIKE SEEING THE SUN FOR THE FIRST TIME!" "Right but like . . . do you know me at all?" "DO YOU WANT ME TO KNOW YOU? I CAN DO THAT! TELL ME ALL ABOUT YOU! I LOVE HEARING ABOUT YOU!" "Yeah I don't like talking that much." "OKAY I CAN JUST GAZE AT YOU ADORINGLY THEN." "erhm. . . "
It's just not for me, lmao.
The mate bonding in ACOTARS definitely seems to fall into this trope, but I'm glad there is some agency where a person can chose to accept the bond or not. That makes it better than imprinting.
The only way imprinting would sort of work for me is if it just sort of "highlighted" a person that would work for you. Like, hey, take a second look at this girl you sit next to in school. And then it had to develop naturally from there. A "compulsory relationship" as SM explained it, just sounds like a nightmare and devoid of meaning to me. Devotion means nothing without choice. If they literally have no choice BUT to be anything you want and need, then it means nothing. They don't have the option to be like "naw I'm gonna go play video games." And so that devotion and support feels meaningless. But that's just me. Obviously with how popular these themes are in romance novels, plenty of other people really dig these tropes.

Could Really Use A Wish Right Now (Mordetwi)
Could Really Use A Wish Right Now
[Mordecai X Twilight Sparkle]
[Warnings: none.]
[AN: I told you I was writing Mordetwi fanfic only I put way too much effort into it and it's 3.6K words long. Read this and enjoy it or I will never forgive you. Also, I’ve never watched Regular Show so like—]
Tumblr media
Have you ever met someone in your life that makes you feel so utterly complete? They make your heart sing and the butterflies in your stomach spring to life just by existing in the same space as you.
The purple unicorn called Twilight Sparkle had honestly never believed she was never destined to meet someone who could inspire those things inside of her. When she was a filly learning about the common beauty that is ‘soulmate identifiers,’ she’d been disheartened to learn that she lacked all of them.
“It’s a simple exercise,” Princess Celestia began, watching as her students eyed her with wonder and excitement. “Unicorns have a special ability that allows us to hone in on not only our soulmate identifiers, but others as well,” she explained, her horn lighting up with a beautiful golden aura as it began to spread brighter and brighter. Her eyes closed for but a fraction of a second before a counter appeared over Celestia’s head. “See? Easy as pie,” she smiled.
“What does your counter mean, princess?” Moon Dancer asked, her brows quirking up.
Princess Celestia hummed thoughtfully. “It’s counting down the hours, minutes and seconds until I meet my special somepony,” she answered. “Though, I have a feeling it is not of the romantic nature.”
Another filly looked over, confusion etching his face. “That’s possible?”
Celestia giggled and nodded, magickally willing her counter away. “Not everypony is destined to have a romantic soulmate, nor do they always want one,” the princess started as she walked over to the still confused filly. She stretched one of her wings out, gently draping over him before dipping her head down and explaining further. “Friendship is just as important.”
The young male filly made a loud ‘ohhhhh’ sound before excitedly getting back into the lesson.
Princess Celestia then began to explain how to do the spell, focusing on feelings and intuition more than actual words.
“Have some faith while casting your magick,” Princess Celestia said, watching as her students paired up. “Don’t doubt yourself.”
The words of her princess echoed in Twilight’s head, the young filly bracing herself as her purple aura began to spread over her horn.
“C’mon Twi, I believe in you,” Moon Dancer said, her violet colored eyes sparkling with determination and her own horn igniting with light pink aura.
Twilight grinned at her friend, honing in on her feelings as she and Moon Dancer cast the spell - and she saw it! Moon Dancer was gifted with the first words on her forehoof - it’ll appear when she’s 13.
“Do you see mine?” The red maned pony asked excitedly.
Twilight nodded. “First words at 13,” she answered. “And me?”
“I can’t really-”
“Alright my little ponies, back to your seats please,” Princess Celestia said, her voice like honey and silk. Her voice carried on, oblivious to Twilight’s inner turmoil as she continued on with the lesson, explaining the different types of marks and the most common ones. “Does anypony have any questions?”
“What do you do if you don’t have one?” The young filly asked, her dark purple colored hoof held high in the air as she looked at the regal princess who had paused from her lesson to take questions.
“Excellent question, Twilight,” Princess Celestia’s regal voice complimented, briefly watching as stars that were reminiscent of Twilight’s cutie mark sparkled in her eyes before addressing her. “Perhaps it is an area of study you can go into,” the princess winked.
Twilight raised a brow and cocked her head to the side. “You mean to tell me that no pony in the history of ponies has ever lacked a soulmate identifier?”
Princess Celestia chuckled and nodded, her large, feathery wings fanning out for but a moment to show her amusement before nodding. “There’s always a special somepony for everypony out there, whether it be purely platonic or romantic!” The large white mare explained. Aura flowed from her horn and plucked a piece of chalk up from the chalkboard’s ledge. It floated around her head before she turned back to the board. “We learn about new soulmate identifiers daily,” she explained, writing down the notes.
Twilight shifted awkwardly in her seat before using her own magic to pick up her quill, taking down her teacher’s notes.
“Sometimes, soulmate identifiers come late in life or change depending on our advancements in magick and technology.”
The princess’s voice droned on and Twilight took down her notes diligently, ears flattened against her skull. The feeling of dread pooled deeper in her stomach.
“And sometimes,” Princess Celestia continued, “sometimes they just don’t appear until a certain age. Sixteen seems to be the latest.”
Twilight’s ears perked up. Sixteen, huh? She could wait until then. Maybe there was hope for her after all.
Sixteen came and went and Twilight found herself tearing up on her balcony, stargazing in an attempt to soothe her aching heart. It was just past midnight and she performed that stupid spell again and again with no luck. In the mirror, all she saw was herself, and nothing more.
“Twily? You in here?” A gentle male voice asked, gently knocking on her door.
The unicorn flattened her ears against her head and used her forehoof to wipe away her crystalline tears. “Just about to sleep,” she said, barely hiding her sniffles. She didn’t want to face Shining Armor like this.
The stallion’s voice exhaustedly chuckled. “C’mon, what’s wrong?” He asked.
Twilight sighed deeply and opened her bedroom door with her magick, revealing a white stallion with blue hair.
He looked over the darkness of Twilight’s room before tsking his tongue at seeing the sorry state of his sister. His dark blue hooves tapped quietly along the bedroom floor as he made way to her, his magick opening her balcony doors just enough for him to sit beside her. “What’s on your mind?” He asked, eyes gentle and soft.
Twilight lowered her eyes, unable to look at her brother before biting the bullet and deciding to explain it to him. “I… Am I destined to be alone?” She asked softly, voice cracking ever so slightly.
Shining Armor’s heart softened at the sound of his distraught sister before he wrapped his arm around her. “No, of course not,” he hushed. “You’re going to be just fine,” he cooed, rocking his baby sister back and forth.
“That’s so easy for you to say,” the purple mare said with a growing frown. “You have Cadence-”
“We’re not talking about me right now,” he cut Twilight off sharply. He felt her wince against him. “Sorry, it’s just,” he rested his head on top of hers. “You’re gonna be just fine. You have my word.”
Twilight took in her brother’s warmth, still bitter over the fact he had a soulmate and she didn’t, but spent time in his warm embrace. He’s her BBBFF for a reason.
From then on, and it came in small bouts, Twilight began to think of music in her head. Little songs of things she recognized, some things she didn’t, but music all the same. At first, she assumed it was just her head substituting the liminal spaces in her head with something melodic and pleasant, but over the years, it grew louder.
How curious…
She’d grown a lot since she was sixteen, seven years had passed and the soulmate identifying mark was but a scar on her heart. Though, the music in her head was triggered at the oddest times. She’d learned to tune it out through the years, that and the feelings of her pain over a lack of soulmates.
Her friends had already found theirs.
Pinkie Pie’s was a stallion by the name of Cheese Sandwich. They were bound together by a step counter.
Rainbow Dash’s was Apple Jack, and of course, they were tied together through shared injuries. Rainbow Dash had to apologize for all of Apple Jack’s phantom wing pain.
Fluttershy had a red string of fate connected to Discord.
Rarity had an almost ‘lost to legend’ soulmate identifier, one in which your reflection is actually your soulmate - and it led her to Fancy Pants, who was in every sense, her platonic soulmate.
And Twilight? She liked to say she didn’t care anymore.
Instead, she buried herself into her friendships and focused on her magick, honing in on the skills and abilities she did have and could work on.
It was one of those spells that brought her to him.
“And you’re sure this is a good idea?” Spike asked, his green eyes showing nothing but concern. His clawed hands anxiously grasped at his scaly tail.
Twilight nodded, her magick clasping the book to a close, sending dust flying in the air. She twitched her nose before sneezing slightly. “Yes,” she began. “If I do this right, we’ll peer into another…. Reality? Dimension? Oh goodness, I have no idea!” She giggled, glee dotting her face.
Spike’s eyes fell to the book as Twilight reshelved it. “Do we really need to be looking into other realities?” He questioned, voice still shaky and unsure.
“Of course I am!” Twilight beamed. “This was one of Star Swirl’s greatest spells, it hasn’t been attempted in centuries! If I can, maybe we can learn something and then?”
Spike groaned loudly. “Don’t say it-”
“We can write a research paper!” She giggled, her ears perked up and magick already begin to form around her horn. Twilight honestly pranced like a filly, giggling as she went over the spell in her head.
Spike narrowed his eyes before hiding behind the table and flashing a shaky thumbs up.
Twilight steadied herself before gearing up, the aura on her horn growing brighter and brighter. The violet hue almost became blinding as Twilight grit her teeth at the sheer energy flowing through her body.
She flattened her ears against her skull as she put more of her power into the spell. “I can barely hold it!” She cried out, hooves digging into the wood of her library floor. She tensed the muscles in her legs.
“It’s not gonna hold!” Spike shouted, bracing for an explosion.
“Yes it will-!” Twilight yelled back, exhausting her power as her horn heated up past boiling. Her horn was practically sparkling now, growing hotter and brighter, sparks flying as she poured more and more of herself into it. She hissed in pain as the sheer force of magick sent her flying back to her shelves, sending books and precious knowledge all over the place.
“Twilight! Are you okay?” Spike asked once it was safe to come out, uncomfortable with the heavy heat that lingered in the air. He rushed over to the dizzy unicorn, watching as she shook the books off.
“I’m fine,” she said, voice a little hazy as Spike took her forehoof into his hands, helping her up. “I just need to try again. Maybe I missed something?” She rhetorically asked, rubbing at her temple in an attempt to shove off her physical pain that cracked over her body like glass at its breaking point. Her hooves clacked against the floor as she shakily steadied herself, her magick grabbing the book from its place.
“Don’t you think that you’ve exhausted yourself today?” Spike asked, his voice soft and low. “You need to rest, maybe get some hay fries?” He suggested.
Twilight continued to page through the book, eyes scanning it faster and faster for any hint on what to do. Nothing. She groaned and angrily shoved it back into its place. “You’re right, let’s get something to eat,” she sighed, picking Spike up with her magick and placing him on her back.
Spike mentally sighed in relief as the purple unicorn trotted out of the library, his stomach growling the entire way.
Twilight now stands in the middle of some field in the late afternoon verging on evening, songs in her head keeping her attention bright eyed and bushy tailed. Spike was back home, sleeping, of course. She had all the time she needed to practice her spell, and she’d keep going until she got it right.
She powers up the spell again, the breeze sending her pretty mane flying and thankfully, out of her face as her aura grows. The purple color fizzles at first, almost as if it was asking her to not do so - to give up, but she grit her teeth and powers through it.
“Come on,” she growls, putting more and more of her power into the spell, her brain attempting to focus on anything other than the songs that were permeating her skull. Twilight steadies herself, hooves digging into the earth and kicking up some of the grass, the light emitting from her horn beginning to sparkle almost brilliantly. Twilight feels a smidge of hope, a smile blooming on her face before it falls.
She feels dashed!
“No!” She cries out, wondering why it was failing.
It flickers and sends sparks flying everywhere, and then it stops. It’s almost pitiful, seeing the magick drip from her horn pathetically like when you attempt to carefully pour something carefully and it dribbles out instead.
She angrily stomps her hoof on the earth, thoughts running out from her head until the music grows louder. She’d tried so many spells throughout her time to in a cain attempt to stop it, but still it persisted.
“You want me to listen to you? Fine! Fine!” She exclaims in frustration, voice rife with anger as she allows the song to overtake her thoughts. On pure intuition when the music is blasting through her thoughts, she attempts the spell again.
Twilight closes her eyes, attempting to hone in and completely misses how her magick takes on a different form. It bounces and swirls around her and rises and falls with the swells in the music. It bounces, small specks of the magick flow from the waving strands and begin to pool, slowly building up to a portal that swirls, growing brighter and brighter with a violet hue.
She’s mentally cursing herself for the energy she’s expending here, but at the same time, the spell is so close to its conclusion, she can feel it in her bones! She focuses on the lyrics of the song, taking in the sweet words. Is it a love song? She really can’t tell.
Remaining sunlight dances across her closed eyelids and Twilight can tell she’s used up all her power. She pants, coat covered in a foamy sheen as she shakes herself with the oncoming breeze. That was absolutely exhausting. She finds herself collapsing to the soft grass, taking in the scent of the earth and listens to the way the breeze shuffles through it. A long sigh escapes her lips before she opens her eyes.
Twilight lets out a yelp, jumping back several yards as she looks at the very confused creature standing with a pop can in front of her. “What the-, who the- what?” She begins to incoherently babble, her eyes wide with shock.
The creature in front of her almost drops his pop can before blinking. “What the- who are you?” Voice is male - must be a guy-
“Who are you?” Twilight asks, slowly standing on wobbly legs to the bird-like creature.
“I-I asked first?” He says, one of his eyes narrowing in confusion as he leans forward.
Twilight snorts and slowly walks up to the portal. “My name is Twilight Sparkle,” she answers hesitantly.
“M-Mordecai,” he replies just as hesitantly. “Why did you open a portal in my living room?” He questions as his beaked face draws closer and closer to the portal.
“I was trying to finish a spell, wait-” Twilight then pauses, her expression of hesitance turning to excitement. “I did it!” She cries out happily, beginning to hop up and down. “I really did it, I opened a portal to another reality!” She laughs, horn shooting off fireworks as a further expression of her joy.
Mordecai looks at the prancing purple unicorn with even more confusion. He hates to interrupt her, but he needs answers. “Why don’t you uh, take a seat and we can figure this out together?” He suggests, slowly backing up to sit on his couch.
Twilight stops prancing and blushes slightly before reeling herself back in, awkwardly trotting back to the portal’s edge. She places her hoof on it, watching as it ripples. She tries to step into it, displeased with seeing that it only dips in before bouncing back, sending her hoof flying back at her. She frowns. “Well, there’s this wizard named Star Swirl,” she starts, magick plucking his book up from her saddle bag.
The ended up talking late into the night, the light of the moon being the only thing that lit up their visages. Twilight had explained so much to Mordecai, and Mordecai to Twilight.
They were… Surprisingly more compatible than either of them had originally expected. However, nothing could prepare Twilight or Mordecai for what was about to happen next.
“Something about me that nopony knows?” Twilight hums. “I hear songs, a lot.”
“Oh dude, me too,” Mordecai seriously nodded. “But like, I’ve never heard the songs before? I can’t tell if my head is making them up or not,” he chuckles before his large wings crush his fifth pop can.
“What kind of songs?”
“There was this one about the Hokey Pokey, I think?” He began to list off. “And then another about the history of some group called the WonderBolts? But the one that stuck out the most was this one was about smiling,” he awkwardly laughs before rolling his eyes. “Weird, right?”
Twilight honestly can’t believe what she’s hearing. Those are all songs she’s sung at one point or another, with and without Pinkie Pie - that’s when she realizes it.
“You’re my soulmate.”
“What?”
“That’s-That’s our soulmate tie,” she continues, voice seldom higher than a whisper before light begins to sparkle in her eyes.
Mordecai’s eyes are wide. Soulmates? He was always under the impression he didn’t have one! He leaps up from his couch, not even caring about the emptied cans he’s sending to the floor.
The two laugh, feathers and hooves pressing against each other on the portal as they rest their foreheads in the same place.
“I’ve waited my whole life to meet you,” Mordecai wisps out, his voice soft and innocent. “Who knew all it took as a portal,” he chuckles breathily. “Eyes like stars and hair that falls so perfectly,” he compliments, wishing so badly that he could hold her.
Twilight hums and presses against the portal just a little tighter. “I’m so happy to have met you,” she whispers. He makes butterflies flutter in her stomach and her heart stop and race all at the same time. Is this what being in love feels like?
She honestly wished this moment could last forever. He was so close, yet so far…
There are so many more things they want to say to each other when the portal begins to glitch, the sparkles that made it gradually deconstructing and coming back to Twilight’s horn.
She gasps. “No, no, no!” She cries out, attempting once again to perform the spell.
“Twilight? What’s happening?” Mordecai questions, voice growing more and more panicky.
Twilight continually attempts the spell. “I don’t know! Nothing in Star Swirl’s journal-!” She uses her magick to pick up Star Swirl’s journal and looks through it, wondering if there’s any notes she can paw through. Anything, anything at all!
The portal disintegrates faster.
Mordecai bangs his fists against it, calling out for the purple unicorn. “Twilight! Twilight!” He calls out. There’s tears welling in his eyes.
Twilight begins to blink back tears as she reads the section in barely legible ink. It’s faded away with time, but it tells her exactly what she doesn’t want to hear.
‘The reality you open can only be opened once, never to be opened again by you or any other magick caster.’
It’s such an awful rule and almost too convenient, but she lets out a groan of frustration and flings the book back, attempting again and again to save the portal. It’s no use, the magick comes back to her faster than she can build it back up.
Her hooves grasp for Mordecai, attempting to hold onto him through the veil, tears wetting her fur. “Please, please don’t go!” She cries out.
Mordecai continues to claw helplessly at the portal as they stand on tiphooves and toes to see the remaining glimpses of each other, eyes now red and puffy.
“Don’t forget about me!” Twilight exclaims, voice cracked and broken.
“Don’t go, please don’t go!” Mordecai cries back, watching as the last of Twilight’s magick closes the portal, her cries still fresh in his ears.
The field is silent now and the moon hangs brightly in the sky. Stars dot the bluish black and Twilight can’t bring herself to move. Instead, she grips at herself, gazing up, and wistfully at that.
In another reality, Mordecai quietly floats outside, tears wetting his feathers and staining them as he gazes up at the full moon. The stars hang in the sky and alongside them, so too do airplanes. He watches their flickering yellow and red lights and brokenly chuckles to himself. He begins to hum, sending this one out to Twilight.
“Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?”
Twilight’s ears twitch as Mordecai sings in the back of her head, her face tilting upwards to be bathed in the light of the moon. More crystalline tears fall from her eyes and water the earth. She sniffles and wipes away some more of her tears with her forehoof.
“I-I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now…”
Separated by realities, the symphony plays on. It’s a cruel reminder of what could have been should they have lived on the same plane of existence.

Speak Now, Or Forever Hold Your Cheese
Hey there, Mars colonies. Off to the pony races again, let's go~
Here's the cover:
Tumblr media
Everypony's terrified of shipping, see? I've told you all along. And for Cheese and Pinkie, I’m sure this counts as PDA. Or else they're just on a rampage. Either way, a fun sort of cover, including a rare appearance by Lyra. That's just a bonus~
So last time, Twilight Sparkle's holding some sort of amazing event, and hired Pinkie Pie as an event coordinator. Given what a big job it was, Pinkie then co-hired Cheese Sandwich as co-coordinator. But there's a stir in the party pony's heart that she's unprepared to deal with. To compound the issue, not only can Pinkie not spit it out, some mysterious power has robbed Canterlot of sound entirely... And that's where we rejoin our heroes~
Naturally, the sudden loss of all auditory output has driven the town into a panic. A very, very quiet panic. This part of the comic might be a bit difficult to recap, because of the lack of dialogue. Dialogue makes recap easy because you can just paraphrase what's being spoken. Action is much more difficult, which is why I tend to skimp on fight scenes. Anyways, while there's panic in the streets, Twilight takes to action and gathers all her friends together. She's identified the source of the sound-dampening as Muffletta, a magical moss that absorbs sound like a sponge. The problem is that identifying it is only step one. They have no idea how to actually stop it.
First effort: Rainbow Dash! Rainbow will naturally be going fast to try and solve the problem. She attempts her signature move, but without sound, all that's left of a sonic rainboom is "rain", which is exactly what it does on her parade. Well, we tried. Nothing to do but instead just try and sort out the chaos. Rainbow Dash does some passes to find folks high up and in trouble.
Fluttershy, despite losing sound, still can communicate with animals, and asks the local cat population of Canterlot to run recon for the group. They do things like look through windows and spot crying babies that have been neglected by their parents because there's no sound. Rarity and Applejack, not having particularly useful talents in this predicament, mostly just go wherever they're sent by the cats.
Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich also help out by setting up some large placards describing the situation to passersby. Only audible communication is blocked, after all. But two such fun-loving ponies can't get on in this silent world, and Cheese wanders off sadly. Pinkie follows him, lending him a hoof of comfort. And sound or no, they manage to find a connection together, and they cheer up by having a little game of chase, splashing through some nearby puddles. The splashing is such fun that the pair let out some genuine laughter at it.
Wait, laughter? Yes indeed! It seems that, like a good romantic prospect, the secret weakness of the Muffletta is laughter. The pair of them quickly work this out, and only genuine laughter will do it. It really is the best medicine, eh? And so the pair of them set up a stage in the center of town, off to show some physical comedy (since your standard joke set isn't gonna work with no sound). But while the laughter's going, the crowd's growing! Twilight notices the commotion from her balcony, and begins producing signs to invite others to the town square, just to clear up more of the silence. Spread the laughter, after all~
And that's that. With the laughter spread throughout the town, the moss all dries up. Twilight gives a speech about the power of laughter and the importance of shared moments. Fluttershy takes a moment to ask Discord why he didn't do anything to help, and he brings up the point from last issue about learning to do things for yourself. Oh, sure, throw that in her face.
And of course we close out with Pinkie and Cheese. Cheese feels a little bad because he brought the moss to the surface, but it was just an accident and no one blames him. But in the end, it was their laughter, together, that saved the day. And Pinkie admits that it's that part she liked best, the "together". And that's all she's been trying to say today, even when she couldn't. And the pair walk off into the sunset, still laughing~
What, you thought they’d actually get together in this issue? I told you this was a slow-burn fic, right~? No, this is merely to set the groundwork that ultimately leads down that path. But it’s still a good story in its own right. The silent part would be pretty weird in an episode, but it works all right in the comic. It kind of cheats a bit at times, using a lot of... not sound effects. Like, Twilight gets wind of the goings-on from her balcony by noticing “CHAOS!” from the crowd. Pinkie and Cheese cheer up because they “CONNECT!” with each other. You can make this plot work in animation, it’s probably just a bit harder~
Next week, it’s back to the plot with Capper and friends~

So I’m doing this 100% for fun but like
Remember I mentioned a dream I had after reading to many of those salty “AU where Marinette’s sort of adopted and her bio parent(s) is rich/famous/powerful” of an mlp crossover where Mari’s bio moms are Twilight and Rarity from mlp? Yeah let’s expand on that a little!
Also, while this is kinda salty and has salty origins, this ends up being pretty sugary because that’s the nature of mlp stuff.
So like there’s some interdimensional fuckery.
A little over 10 years prior to Canon the Equestria and the ML world kinda connected.
Twilight Sparkle, as Princess of Friendship, was sent as an ambassador to the new dimension.
Of course Earth sent someone to Equestria but whatever they’re not important.
Also involved is Twilights wife, Rarity, and lil baby Marinette pony.
Side note: while in Equestria they’re ponies, but interdimensional travel turns them Human in the ML world. Kinda like EQG but they have normal human skin tones.
Anyway! Mari is a lil pink Unicorn, but in the Human world she looks Human. She ends up wearing a lot of pink clothes because she misses her pony coat.
Because of several things, like wanting Mari to have a normal childhood and also some political stuff that her moms want to protect her from, she ends up being taken care of by Tom and Sabine.
I’m gonna say that Twi and Rares met Tom and Sabine through Pinkie, who has a habit of getting low-key adopted by bakers, and had met them through wanting to learn about Earth cuisine (and T&S wanted to learn Equestria cuisine, so it was a win-win).
When Twi and Rares are thinking about this plan, T&S are trying for a kid and haven’t had much luck.
Mari lives with Tom and Sabine for the day-to-day, but Twilight and Rarity visit as often as they can, spending plenty of weekends with their daughter, even if it’s low-key to keep her safe.
As far as Mari is concerned, she has four parents. Twilight=Mom, Rarity=Mommy, Sabine=Maman, and Tom=Papa.
Other than visits with her moms and trips to Equestria, there’s only a couple differences to Mari’s childhood.
First is that she gets visits from other mlp characters too. They don’t cause too many issues because
1.) they know how to not blow her cover and
2.) the ones who would do it accidentally can be reined in.
By that I mean that if Discord starts to act up Mari just says “I’ll tell Auntie Fluttershy” and he nopes the fuck out.
Mari’s classmates think she just has a lot of aunts and uncles with weird names and haircolors, not connecting them to the Pony stuff.
The other thing is that Marinette is a little more confident and somehow even more forgiving. Like, this is shown best in her interaction with Chloé.
Marinette stands up to Chloé from day 1 and doesn’t take her shit. She protects others and shuts down any of her petty schemes. Etc.
But she also doesn’t write Chloé off entirely. Marinette constantly offers her friendship, because she’s grown up with stories about her various aunts and uncles who were like Chloé or far worse, and that they eventually reformed. When she sees Chloé try to change, Marinette welcomes her with open arms and works with her to help her be a better person.
Anyway one more thing for Mari’s childhood before Ladybug: her Cutie Mark!
Marinette’s special talent is her eye for detail. Mostly she uses this to be a designer just like mommy(Rares is so proud!!), but it helps her be an expert at planning and organizing like her mom(Twi is also very proud!!).
Her actual Cutie Mark is an image of a Ladybug threading a needle.
Onto the Canon Timeline!!
Okay! So! Origins happens and Marinette gets the Ladybug Miraculous.
Mari is paranoid that it was given to her because someone found out about her being a Unicorn Princess. So she interrogated the hell out of Tikki.
Tikki’s like “okay I didn’t know that. I knew you had powerful Magic and that explains it but no. You were chosen for general compatibility with it!”
Ladybug’s secret identity lasts until Twi and Rares visit because they’re like “honey why are your earrings a powerful magic artifact???”
“Our little girl is all grown up and using Magic jewelry to save the world! Just like her moms!!”
So the whole family knows. Tikki does say that it breaks the rules, but there’s not much that can be done because of the circumstances.
Mari’s parents all kinda debate on whether or not she should try and figure out Chat Noir’s identity.
Twilight and Sabine argue that they would feel better if they knew who the boy was so that they could trust him. Twi’s reasoning is more “while you trust him now, your teamwork will grow stronger as you learn more about each other!” while Sabine’s is more “I want to make sure he’s not some creep/entitled dudebro.”
Rarity and Tom are okay with the mystery. Tom because obviously whoever chose Chat Noir to be a hero saw the same things in him that they saw in Marinette when making her Ladybug, so of course he must be a good guy. Rares just loves the drama of the whole thing! Secret identities! Romance! Etc.
Tikki is the deciding vote on that, saying it’s supposed to be secret.
That also doesn’t last long. Because Mari tells Rares about the crush on Adrien. And naturally Rares has to meet the boy! And they notice his ring and yeah…
She tries to keep the secret but as much as she loves the drama, the fact that her daughter is actually sad thinking Adrien isn’t interested in her when he absolutely is just breaks her heart.
Whoops the lovesquare is solved real early! Like, ‘sometime in Season 1 early’.
Of course they bring Adrien into the whole ‘secret royal horse family’ thing.
Mari’s a little scared on that because species difference.
Like, in Equestria interspecies relationship isn’t an issue because it goes by the basic ‘Harkness Test’ rules. So her interest in Adrien is normal to her.
But some Humans get weirded out by the idea so she didn’t know how Adrien would react.
It throws him for a loop but he’s cool with it!
This also involves telling Gabriel about the horse girlfriend.
Lucky for him, he decided to leave the Butterfly Miraculous upstairs during dinner or else he would’ve been found out too.
Anyway, the whole ‘royal horse princess’ thing is definitely enough to make Marinette a good candidate for dating Adrien. So Gabriel is okay with the relationship.
It also helps that Gabriel and Rarity actually somehow get along. She’s used to stuck up rich people so she can play his games without getting frustrated, and she can discuss fashion with him!
They get into a long discussion about Equestria fashion vs. Earth fashion, and Mari is sitting there taking notes because her goal is to make a fashion line that incorporates both dimensions!
Gabriel is kinda low-key thinking about how they’d make powerful Akumas, but tbh… magic horses are things he doesn’t want to risk messing with. Yeah they’d be powerful, but if they go rogue or have issues with merging the different types of Magic… it could be a bad time.
That said, he does try to low-key find out if Twilight and Rarity know of any Magics that might help him save Emilie other than the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous. He doesn’t ask outright as he doesn’t want to tip his hand, but he feigns curiosity in some subjects.
They don’t tell Gabriel about the superhero thing because Adrien begs them not to, knowing that he’d try to stop him if he found out.
One more thing that changes is Mari and Adrien’s relationship with Master Fu as a mentor!
Because of Twilight’s experience with Celestia as her mentor, Marinette is encourage to question Fu’s decisions.
They quickly realize that yeah, Fu’s not always right. In fact, he’s fucking up a lot.
Fu and Twilight can get along as ‘protectors of Magical Artifacts that could either save the world or cause doomsday’. They debate about methods, and while Twilight agrees with Fu’s logic, she can also to get him to see the flaws in it.
So. Outside of occasional pony stuff and various shenanigans involving the ‘aunts and uncles’, and the fact that Adrienette is canon, not much changes. I’ve written outlines for other AUs where Adrienette was Canon early on, so y’all can go dig those up. And I can’t think of specific instances where weird Pony stuff happens outside of like, Marinette’s birthday or something.
But this did start from a salty dream so we gotta get to Lila being a fuck.
Lila comes in and does her usual shit.
She lies about knowing Ladybug and various other celebrities. Of course.
She tries to flirt with Adrien. He turns her down as soon as he realizes because he’s in love with Mari. This gets Mari on her radar.
Between that, and Mari calling her out on her lies, Lila decides to try an ruin her.
So, Mari and Adrien’s responses to this are a little different than Canon.
Marinette feels comfortable telling Adrien that Lila threatened her. So he’s not going to sit by and be quiet since he knows this is a threat, not just a girl lying for attention.
Despite the threats, both are too soft and sweet to write off Lila completely. Especially Mari, oddly enough. As I said. She grew up with stories about her aunts and uncles that changed for the better. So the two of them think that they might be able to be friends with Lila.
That said, they don’t put up with her shit. They call her out when she lies, and don’t tolerate her lying and manipulating people. It doesn’t usually work because Lila is good at thinking up more lies and turning it around, but they try.
The idea that Marinette hates Lila out of jealousy over Adrien is slightly more believable, because the classmates never saw Marinette be jealous before.
Chloé stopped ‘flirting’ with Adrien as soon as he and Mari got together because she respects Adrien as a friend. She makes it clear that they’re just friends and her flirting is mostly joking/possessiveness, and the relationship itself is the first thing that helps Chloé want to change so she can not lose Adrien over being mean to Mari.
Kagami was a little interested in Adrien, but shut it down as soon as she found out that he was dating Marinette, so she and Mari never got off on the wrong foot with jealousy, becoming friends rather quickly. (Mari might have tried to set her up with Luka after she rejected him but you know.)
Mari is usually nice to Adrien’s fangirls, barring any creepy actions.
So this is the first time the class is seeing her react to a ‘legitimate threat’ to the relationship.
Now, while I like salt stuff, I don’t go full ‘the classmates durn into worse bullies than Chloé ever was because they’re convinced Mari is bullying Lila and believe Lila’s word like gospel’ thing.
I could go on a hell of a rant about how that’s a lot of victim blaming but that’s for another time.
Anyway, the classmates are still friendly with Marinette, but they are frustrated at her fighting with Lila. And Lila is lying, manipulating, orchestrating events to make it look like Mari attacked her, etc. It would take a decent amount of manipulation and gaslighting the class to get them to think Mari’s actually horrible, so this is a long-term plan.
One of the biggest things she does in the meantime, is try to isolate Marinette. If she sees someone talking to her, suddenly Lila needs their help with something! She tries to schedule hanging out with the class on days that Mari’s busy. Or just says she’s uncomfortable with Mari being at a hang out, so don’t invite her to this one(it works on smaller hangouts and ones where they’re at someone’s home, but big groups don’t work.). If she is forced to interact with Marinette directly, she starts a fight and blames Mari.
There’s a lot of tension. But Marinette learned from the Princess of Friendship herself. This can be mended, once they figure it out.
This all comes to a head when it comes time for the Class Trip.
The class gets permission to go out of the country, and Marinette suggests Equestria!
Her thought process is
1.) they can help mend things by learning about Equestria’s history and importance of Friendship.
2.) Despite the recent hiccups in their friendship, Marinette loves and trusts most of the class enough to tell them about the ‘I’m secretly a Pony Princess’ thing. And taking them to see Equestria is a good idea to help hammer it in and really wow them!
The school board is hesitant at first, because Equestria is technically another Dimension and all. But they tell her ‘if you send a letter to the Equestrian Government and they say yes, then okay’.
So Mari just calls up her mom and asks. Twilight is immediately planning the trip’s itinerary!
When Marinette announces it to the class, they’re all estatic.
Lila, of course, lies about stuff.
She claims that she went to Equestria before and when turned into a Pony by dimensional Magic stuff, she was totally an Alicorn!
Mari calls so much bullshit on that.
Because the only ways to be an Alicorn are either being born one, which means she’d have to be related to the Royal Family and that’s impossible, or Ascending, which is so goddamn rare.
Not to mention that even if a Human who crossed over became an Alicorn legitimately, that would’ve been major news.
Thankfully most of the stuff Lila lies about regarding culture/celebrities in Equestria/etc are either things Mari can spin as ‘actually that’s a misconception’ and redirect the class to real facts, or something that is coincidentally true, just fuckin buck wild.
When it comes time for the actual trip, Twilight and Rarity show up personally! Partly because they have to, as the link between Earth and Equestria, but also to see Mari and dote on her, glad to formally meet all her friends!!
The class begins to notice things when they are actually transported to Equestria.
First, they notice that Mari seems way too friendly with Twi and Rares. Like, yeah she’s a friendly person, but this is excessive.
They also notice that Marinette is a bit… too used to walking around as a Pony and using Magic, while everyone else is like ‘fuck how do hooves work???’.
There’s, like, a half second after they first go through the portal and are transformed where it seems like Lila wasn’t lying, as she looks like an Alicorn.
But then Twilight recognizes ‘Oh. You’re not an Alicorn. You’re a Changeling. I understand the disguise, as some Ponies are still a bit wary of Changelings, but you shouldn’t go around as an Alicorn as that will get you some unwanted attention and cause a lot of issues!’.
Everyone asks about that, and Twi happily explains that Changelings are shapeshifters!
So like, the excuse here is that Lila didn’t lie about going to Equestria before. She did once a few years ago with her mom. But she was a Changeling, not an Alicorn. She’d hoped that she’d be able to trick the classmates, and possibly even Twilight, but didn’t count on being called out so soon!
Unfortunately, everyone believes the reason Twilight accidently gave instead of the ‘Lila’s a dick’ thing. Mari’s frustrated because ‘damn it mom!’ but you know.
Side notes: What kind of Pony everyone is and their Cutie Marks!
Marinette: Pink Unicorn. Cutie Mark is a Ladybug threading a needle.
Adrien: pastel green Pegasus. Cutie Mark is a fencing saber with a neon green pawprint behind it.
Chloé: Black with white markings Crystal Pony. Cutie Mark is a golden crown, but with honeycomb shapes. (Basically imagine Diamond Tiara’s Cutie Mark, but gold and with hexagons instead of circles on the ends)
Alya: orange Unicorn, Cutie Mark is a Wifi signal with a foxtail
Nino: Deep green Earth Pony, Cutie Mark is headphones with a turtle shell
Juleka: Purpleish-black Unicorn, Cutie Mark is a mirror with claw marks behind it/
Rose: pink Earth Pony, Cutie Mark is a rose but the stem is real curly
Nathaniel: lavender Earth Pony, Cutie Mark is a tablet pen and a feather quill (Ya boi has so much trouble attempting to draw!!)
Alix: light blue Pegasus, Cutie Mark is a pocketwatch with wings
Mylene: tan Pegasus, Cutie Mark is a mouse-like theatre mask
Ivan: dark blue Earth Pony, Cutie Mark crossed drumsticks with a pair of ox horns above it.
Kim: red Pegasus, Cutie Mark is a star with a staff weapon in front of it.
Max: brown Unicorn, Cutie Mark is a computer screen in a horseshoe.
Sabrina: Turquoise  Earth Pony, Cutie Mark is a dark turquoise notebook with a purple diamond on it.
Lila: orange Changeling. No Cutie Mark. Uses a foxtail design when transformed to look like a regular pony.
So, as I said, the class is realizing that Marinette is a little too comfortable in Equestria. They eventually ask.
Marinette explains the whole ‘Okay, so didn’t tell you because I didn’t know to trust you guys, and then after I did trust you I wasn’t sure how to tell you but actually…’.
She goes over the whole ‘Twi and Rares are the bio moms, Tom and Sabine are her sort-of-adoptive parents but all four are parents to her’ thing.
Everyone’s like ‘Wait… you’re actually a Pony???’ then they’re like ‘HOLD HE FUCK UP YOU’RE A PRINCESS???’
Lila does kinda try and spin the whole ‘oh she didn’t tell you guys’ thing, but Twi and Rares explain the whole thing was about keeping Mari safe. And if certain people found out about her, it’d be bad.
Time for a little bit of the trip itinerary!
The first few days are spent in Ponyville, with the class staying in Twilight’s Castle.
I feel like I should mention that the last couple seasons of mlp aren’t canon to this timeline but whatever.
While they’re enjoying the sights and learning about Equestria, a chunk of the time is spent learning about how to be Ponies. How to walk on four legs and function with hooves, and how to use their various Magics. Nothing too wild. Just flight lessons for Pegasai, controlling strength for Earth Ponies, and basic spell casting for the Unicorns (along with control so they don’t blast something.).
Lila already knows how to use her Changeling spell stuff, unfortunately.
Marinette does discuss Lila with Twi and Rares.
They go into mom mode and are ready to throw down, but don’t.
Twilight asks them to just keep an eye on what Lila says, correct her if she lies, and maybe also ban her from shapeshifting?
Thankfully, Twilight is smart. She knows that banning Lila from shapeshifting altogether might end badly because there’s have to be questions of why. But she can subtly tag Lila with a specific ban.
Basically, Lila’s Magic will malfunction if she tries to shapeshift into Marinette, any of the classmates, or some of the more important Ponies. Lila won’t know about it unless she tries to do that specifically and finds she can’t.
Lila does, of course, try exactly that. She attempted to change into Marinette and be a jerk, but didn’t even get that far.
When she complains, Twilight just handles it by saying that it’s standard that Changelings nearby Royals and such have that ban.
Other highlights of the trip:
They hit some major cities in Equestria. Like the Crystal Empire, Manehattan(Which annoys Chloé a little because ‘I got to go to Manehattan before Manhattan fuck you mom!), Cloudsdale. And eventually, Canterlot!
Meeting various Royals is a trip in itself. I mean, this is Magic Pony Royalty!! But they’re also absolute dorks.
Adrien gets heckled by all of Marinette’s Aunts and Uncles and he’s a little terrified but loves her.
Diamon Tiara attempts to adopt Chloé somehow. Spike reminds her that Chloé does technically have parents back home, but Diamond’s like ‘no! she reminds me of me so much!!!’.
They get to see a Wonderbolts show in Cloudsdale, and a play on Bridleway.
As usual with me and ML fics, Chloé figures out that Mari and Adrien are LB and Chat. She had some strong suspicions before the trip, but after seeing the Cutie Marks of both them and other suspected Heroes, she’s like ‘you motherfuckers!!’.
Later on once they’ve gotten used to being Ponies, they get to go to the old Castle in the Everfree Forest, which is currently half archeological study, and half ‘training for all those bullshit Indiana Jones-like traps that Pony Archeologists have to deal with’. Which means it’s basically an obstacle course!
The final MANE event is an invitation to the Grand Galloping Gala!! With Rarity making all their outfits because she’s GENEROUS like that!!
Last plot point: Lila.
Of course Lila’s lies will be revealed somehow. But tbh…. Since this is a mlp crossover, I sort of want to try giving her some kinda redemption.
I think the best way to do that is to be able to feel the emotions. I mean, Changelings are empaths, basically. She can now physically feel what others feel about one another.
I mentioned in TMOLR that Lila’s lies are part of a cycle. She lies to make people love her, but they don’t love her, just the lies. So she continues the lie to keep the love.
With her empathy powers, she can feel that the love aimed at her is no different than the love they aim at each other. And at first, she brushes it off as her fooling them too well.
It’s actually only once the lies are exposed that she begins to realize that, despite the anger and betrayal her classmates feel, they still care. They still, on some basic level, love her.
She’s not going to be free of consequences, but she might be able to turn it around.
Legit though, I think a mlp crossover is the only time I can genuinely think of having a Lila Redemption because of the kind of bullshit the Ponies have done with redemptions.

It's Revue Starlight Monster AU Time
it's gayer. it fluffier. it's very self indulgent only my ships for me hahahahaaha. All the monsters can transform into humans and back again, this post is gonna be a thread of the animal form ref sheets I made n some tiny details.
A....a LOT of Lore below.
LORE that me and @witchbogs have cowritten
Human Knowledge of Monsters:
Most monster communities Are Isolated from humans, but myths and a vague knowledge that they're out there is the common perception. Rumors if they are dangerous or friendly depends on the region/community.  There are some areas where humans and monsters live alongside each other peacefully. However, noticing if someone is a monster or not depends upon a human's own ability to Perceive Magic
Our humans are Mahiru, Tamao, Lalafin, Aruru, Akira, and Yachiyo
Lalafin and Aruru grew up around monsters  Akira and Yachiyo grew up within hunter families  Mahiru and Tamao had casual exposure to monsters
Magical Perception Rank  High: Lalafin, Mahiru, Yachiyo  Mediuim: Aruru  Low: Akira and Tamao
Lalafin grew up in a household that helped protect monsters from hunters. Aruru just grew up chilling with Misora's fam. Tamao had contact with the Hanayagi's but her low perception didn't leave her with much of an impact. Mahiru had the occasional werewolf friend (coughsuzucough)
Akira was raised in one of two very prestigious hunter clans, but her magic perception is utter shit. Her test to become a full-fledged hunter failed because she ended up contracted to Michiru. Akira has no contact with her family and she doesn't really care .
Yachiyo was raised with the other clan and is a full-fledged hunter. Her first solo mission was SUPPOSED to be subduing Fumi, but Fumi transferred and Shiori is....well.  She reports back to her family on the dealings of the monsters in the school.  The accuracy of them shifts.
WEREWOLF TIME
Our werewolves are Karen, Hikari, Rui, Fumi, Shiori, and Misora
werewolves aren't turned, it's a hereditary magic, and families are werewolf packs. however, the transformation only happens if you have a certain level of estrogen in your system.
Transformation can happen at will, however, everyone Will transform during a full moon. Partial transformations often happen when emotions run high and the wolf gets sloppy. Karen, Hikari, and Fumi are all pretty typical wolfies.
Rui is typical in all but size. she is. ENORMOUS. like size of a small car. While the others are generally a normal wolf size. Except also Shiori, who was sickly as a kid, so her werewolf form is rather small, and high levels of stress can keep her trapped in her puppy form for several days
Misora is a trans girl. She is recently started estrogen and reached the threshold for transformations to start shortly before leaving for frontier. most Beginning transformations happen when werewolves are babies, and their bones are still soft, so the transformation isn't hard.  so unfortunately Misora's first couple are painful and she struggles easing into casual ones without the moon. Her fur also starts out real patchy. But everyone at frontier helps her settle in and make sure she's comfortable as possible and are super happy for her when she starts fluffin out
NEKOMATA/bakeneko
Tsukasa is basically a were-tiger, but with a split tail and some neat magical powers. she helps misora a lot with her transformations and is thrilled to be able to interact more casually with other magical creatures. her fam was real strict on secrecy ( fun side note, Frontier def has a whole lil page dedicated to their 'friendly tiger' who just wanders around and hangs out in the performance dorms so many rumors start flying when a red wolf starts showing up with her )
VAMPIRES
Claudine, Nana, and Shizuha are all vamps
full vampirism isn't a heritable trait, since it stops a human from aging. But, vampire clans often adopt orphaned children and turn them if they so choose. Half-vamps are also a thing. Loner vamps are the dangerous ones.
Claudine is a halfie and she chose to join her mother in staying a vampire. She also functions like a Twilight Vampire where she doesn't burn in the sun but sparkles. Everyone just thinks she uses a lot of body glitter. She was originally born in about 1920. Mostly eats meat rare for blood, but if someone offers she’ll take a sip
Shizuha is a pretty new vampire who was raised by a clan. They adopted her from an orphanage and she chose to turn just because she likes her family a lot. Her type of vampire burns in the sun but her health goo is a potion to keep it from killing her. Og born in 1970s. Shizuha’s goo is also her vampire food, but again, will drink from friends who offer (usually lalafin and aruru)
Nana is the oldest vampire. She was turned in a loner accident over 200 years ago. With no vampire support system, she went feral with bloodlust for the first couple decades until she met up with vampire hisame, who calmed her down before leaving her for more civilized vamps.  She then chose to stay in a series of tunnels under where Seisho was built, and stayed there eating rats until Karen dug a hole in the garden and dragged her into the common room to show all her new friends.  Nana works with Junna for her sun-protection and a way to turn mortal. Nana refuses to drink from humans in fear she’ll go feral again
WITCH
Junna's a witch. She insists she's simply a scientist with a high magic perception. She deals mostly in potion making rather than spells. She helps Nana create blood-replacements for vampires, vampire sunscreen, and is researching a way for Nana to be mortal again
KITSUNE
Maya and Kaoruko. Kaoruko's family is a high profile and important kitsune fam with lots of connections and fae-touched workers Kitsune can do minor wish/curse magic. they can appear as normal foxes as well. Maya's family is known for their talent in acting and slyness
FAE
Futaba, Ichie, Michiru are fae Fae are elfish beings with a ranging affinity for magic. Tend to work in contracts OR minor miracles.  Futaba is part of a family who became fae-touched as they worked for Kaoruko's. Her magical ability is low but she excels in noticing spells
Ichie is mostly just a trickster. She does pranks or enchants songs to make people feel happier. Usually they work out, sometimes she gets a mess, her magic can be a little wild.
Michiru works with contracts and persuasion. She made a deal with Akira to form an acting troupe.  Michiru also feeds off of emotion, which is why she wants an acting troupe in the first place. Theatres and compelling plays provide a bountiful feast for her.  Andrew is Michiru's older brother who prefers the guise of a mole. He likes feeding off negative emotions. he sucks
DRAGON
Mei Fan is a dragon. she cool. she breathe fire. her scales can have some magical properties. she can fly. yeah. dragon.
???
Yuyuko: we just don't know. Except she sleepy and was active during the height of Rakugo/Noh/other traditional Japanese arts
and that is a VERY long thread for the basic information of the plot kjshfjkshf Seiran is technically also in this world. Suzu is a werewolf, Koharu a Kitsune, Hisame a vampire the giraffe and Elle are just the same as in starira. bc i mean they magic. thank you for reading!!!

Lonely Is The Word
teen  |  2k  |  canonverse s6  |  ao3
for @profoundnet's bi-weekly Bot Stat challenge. prompt issued: April 30th 2019
Dean needs a beer. Cas is listening to angel radio. S̸a̵m̴ ̸i̶s̵ ̸f̵i̵n̵e̷.̸ ̷E̵v̵e̵r̵y̶t̵h̷i̴n̸g̴ ̵i̶s̵ ̷j̵u̶s̶t̵ ̷f̸i̴n̶e̷..̴.
Sam knows about his soulless gap year and Bobby's having a hard time trusting the resurrected version. Even without monsters, their lives are still a shitshow. Add in warring Angels and friggin' Purgatory-seeking Dragons and Dean just needs a second to breathe.
Dean only leaves because Sam is safe. No safer place than Bobby's. He just needs an hour or two to wrap his mind around things.
With Baby back to rights he drives 'til the sun dips below the wheatgrass horizon, no destination set in stone but half tempted to find a bar just south of the border. It's the best combo there is to clear his head: just the open road, whatever's on tap wherever he pulls up, and the right kind of company for just long enough to sate this desire to scream his lungs out - at crappy circumstance, at the Winchester family curse, at his own bad choices.
He just wanted his brother back, is that so bad? Sam didn't deserve to be left behind - not in that place; no one does. He shudders to think how Alastair's torture might pale in comparison to Lucifer's. For Sam to go through that again - to re-discover whatever's left of him? Forget calling in Death for a quick-fix favour, because even Dean knows some things can't be fixed, can't be undone, unseen.
Dean lives with his memories from the pit every day. Avoids 'em, as much as it's possible to do so without some magic mind-block, but he's changed forever because of 'em. And Sam might not've been the one dealing out damnation, but if time works in a similar way down there then he was Lucifer's chew toy for over a century. And if that doesn't shake anyone to their foundations just to think about then they're either a lunatic or a goddamn liar.
Cas spelled out Dean's fear in no uncertain terms: Let me tell you what his soul felt like when I touched it: like it had been skinned alive.
But was he right? Had Dean doomed Sam to a fate worse than death by trying to do the right thing? Trying to save him?
If you wanted to kill your brother you should have done it outright.
Sam's fine - for now. But how long before his wall crumbles into Hellfire? The structural integrity's already been compromised, and no matter what Sam promised, Dean knows his brother: if Sam wants to right his own alleged wrongs then he'll do it and nevermind the cost to himself.
And while Dean holds fast that whatever Samdroid did while his soul was MIA isn't on Sam, Bobby's less convinced. Just to throw another wrench in the gears of the 'better life' that was 'spose to finally be possible after the Apocalypse was averted. Not that that was really ever gonna happen.
No Armageddon, but the tradeoff was Sam jumping into the pit. Sam gets resurrected, but his soul gets left behind. Dean gets a taste of the Apple Pie life, but hunting is his bread and butter. There's a civil war up in the clouds because (as everyone well-knows) Angels are dicks. And as if the self-crowned king of Hell trying to rip a hole between dimensions wasn't enough, apparently that little adventure is now on some dragon-dude's bucket list.
Crazy as it sounds, Dean kinda misses the ol' days. Y'know, when all they had to do was take down a couple of overzealous Archangels. They've got shit stacking up on so many spinnin' plates right now it's impossible to tell which one's gonna be the first to topple and shatter, that crap raining down on 'em in a mess of blood and pain and one gruesome smear of trouble after another - and it'll soil a bunch of innocent people too, if they're not careful.
Knowing their luck it probably won't be just the one plate, either.
But when it comes to this sorta thing all they can really do is.. wait n' see. Try to be ready to divert whatever mountain of crap avalanches at them - or try to outrun it, sidewind it before the risk catches up with them and the goddamn consequences bury them alive.
Some small-town city limits come into view just as the clouded night kisses down the last of twilight. Dean knows this place. He can get what he needs here, on a lucky night. Hell, two out of three ain't bad. Booze? Check. Distance? Check. Company?.. Guess he'll have to wait and see.
He'd kinda like some answers, too. Some goddamn direction to point himself in when he hits the road again. And there is a certain someone who might be able to help with that - or might not. But whatever the case, Dean wouldn't turn his company away. Maybe what he needs right now, more than anything, is a friend.
Baby slows to a stop in the vacant lot across the street from the bar, Black Sabbath cutting out with the purr of her engine.
"Hey, Cas.." And where the hell does he go from here? Honesty, or a passable lie? Maybe somewhere in between. "I know you think what I did for Sam was the wrong call, and.." Yeah.. okay. "..honestly, I dunno. I dunno if what I did is gonna make things better or worse in the long run. All I know is that I had to, man - I had to." There's really no more to it than that. Except maybe just, "I could really use a friend, right about now." Reckless little brother, uncle who lied to him for a year; seems he can't really go wrong seeking the advice of his Angelic best friend, right? Even if he has been out of sorts since their little reunion. Better than the alternatives at least, even if there is a year of space between them now.
Dean'd be lying if he said he didn't wonder what Cas got up to during that year. Caught himself before shooting off a prayer more than once. Maybe just to check in, maybe to brainstorm ways to save Sam. His spirit - already struggling to dry off from the shitstorm of their lives - was dampened to learn that Cas wasn't the one who saved Sam from The Cage - or tried to. Cas did try though, so maybe that's somethin'.
In the time it would take for Heaven and Hell to play out the last few bars of track seven and most of the closing number, Dean sits alone in the driver's seat, headlights lighting the way to nowhere, waiting.
Turns out to be just another mistake in a long line of dumbass mistakes, another mark on the board for his tally of bad choices. Baby purrs back to life half only half a minute before she's put to sleep again and Dean's stalking away into the bar.
"—Castiel?" Rachel's voice pulls him back before his wings denote a telltale stretch - still a reflex he must wilfully deny. "Is something wrong?"
Yes. "No, I was just.. listening."
Her eyes harden, and Castiel has been made accustomed to that look over the last mortal year as she nods. "Raphael's soldiers think blocking our channels with their rhetoric will hinder our efforts, but his numbers are not what ours are. And they can't affect our communications for much longer."
Of course. It is a tactic only effective in the short-term, for the amount of energy required to interfere would significantly drain the Angels pervading the etheric communicative transference.
She proceeds to inform him of their recent losses in battle along with how many of Raphael's soldiers were presumably wounded or killed.
Castiel dreads such knowledge perhaps most of all; knowing the extent of Angelic grace being spilled in a war that would not be waging if not for his actions, his choices alone. The only reprieve he finds from the guilt is in the belief that Raphael would have spilled more - and destroyed the Earth, as well - if Castiel and his brothers and sisters had not taken up arms against him.
He manages a tight-lipped smile, something enough to satisfy that he understands. "Have we any more news of the missing weapons?"
"Not yet."
"Then I suggest you get back to it."
In the very least, being the Commander of garrisons affords him seniority, and with it the propensity to not have to explain himself further.
She takes her leave, and once he feels her grace reach an adequate distance in the aether, in her absence, he takes flight.
The familiar silhouette of one 1967 Chevrolet Impala is almost indistinguishable from the night sky, if not for the gleam of street-lamps off the polished metal belying an impression of the sun.
The moon is hidden tonight, as are the multitudinous stars of this galaxy - a favourite among many Angels throughout the eons. However, given the events of recent times, Castiel suspects he may be one of few Angels who prefer it over other galactic creations primarily for its housing of one particular solar system, which bears one particular planet, upon which a very special species makes its home.
Dean is gone.
The bar seems his likely destination, and if Castiel concentrates, allowing his Grace to reach out and survey the atmosphere.. yes. He can feel him near: warm and alive, though not at peace. He has never known what it is to feel Dean at peace in the mortal realm. There was a singular moment - fleeting and seeming so long ago, now - when his Grace touched Dean's soul raw and exposed; it seized his fear, incentivised Dean to feel safe, to trust in Castiel's intentions.
It was something akin to peace, perhaps relief. At the time, Castiel had thought it might be resignation to God's plan. But as he came to know Dean, he came to interpret that feeling as something intensely personal and not at all connected to The Grand Plan.
Perhaps, once Castiel completes his mission, once he stops Raphael and prevents the Apocalypse for all good, Dean will know peace. He deserves that much. He deserves much more.
The inside of the Impala is cool. Not as cold as the night air outside, but enough that Dean wouldn't be comfortable if he were to emerge from the bar this instant. Castiel places a hand on the dashboard, and while the engine remains silent, the interior comes alive in light and sound and air-ventilated warmth.
The music is not familiar, despite having listened through much of Dean's collection during his time with the Winchesters. Over the past year Castiel has not regretted safeguarding Dean's chance for peace, his life away from supernatural beings and the chaos and destruction they wrought. Although, he will admit to a certain discernible ache for their foregone time together; on the road within this now-familiar vehicle, or in whatever capacity Dean would have allowed, in any way that he might have needed Castiel's help.
The war in Heaven is not going well, despite Rachel's assurances. Without weapons at their disposal, Raphael's forces will soon diminish their own and all will suffer because of Castiel's failing. Which is precisely why he cannot fail.
Castiel always knew the chance of defeating an Archangel on his own was impossible, and therefore anything that could afford him victory in this war - to end the graceshed, to save Humanity, and the Earth, and Heaven from itself - then he must take it.
But even against all reason, all dangers considered, there are times when Castiel, too, does want for a friend.
For one friend, in particular.
..been higher than stardust
I've been seen upon the sun
I used to count in millions then
But now I only count in one
Come on, join the traveler
If you got nowhere to go
Hang your head and take my hand
It's the only road I know..
If only Castiel could pray to Dean.
..Yeah, Lonely is the word
Got to be the saddest song I ever heard..
But the want of a friend is selfish, dangerous.
Drawing Dean into the skirmish of Angels would further remove him from any chance at peace. And that, Castiel decides, is not worth the win. Even if Dean wants to help, he cannot allow it. He must keep Dean safe, and far away from the destructive reach of Heaven's current state.
..Yeah, Lonely is the name
Maybe life's a losing game.

Createurs - We Exist
I have the pleasure of being in the presence of talented and passionate artists and musicians most of the time and it’s, for me, is one of the best things in my life. Friends, I call these people.
Last Saturday, one of the bands I looked out for in the past years launched their first album – We Exist. Createurs, which is apparently the French word of creators which is already so beautiful when you think about it in itself, is a collaborative band telling the stories of the monsters not just under our beds but also the ones inside our heads, even the ones that are chasing us, through the music of different people. They have also collaborated with different visual artists for each of their song and those artworks were also featured in the lyrics booklet with their CD.
We Exist album has 12 well-written tracks that speaks of the eerie, the enchanting, the damned, and the mystery of the entirety of life. Yes, life.
Now, I’m not going to pretend like I’m some music expert and give you guys a review of their album. I am, however, going to share with you my thoughts on each and favorite lyrics from the tracks in it.
1. Pancake (Re)Mix
Tumblr media
This one’s a little too close to my heart. Remember the artworks I’ve mentioned earlier? I made one for them and it was for this song. I think this is the most outright cheesy song they have in their album. But even so, it wasn’t the corny kind. I described this one as “colorful” when I first heard it. It’s exactly the reason why I was careful on putting too much color in the artwork, I didn’t want to take the colors from the song – I wanted it to be as serene and innocent as the song.
“Flying with time just to witness your smile. And I, oh I’m falling down tonight”
We all know the feeling of being all chummy giddy soft inside like we swallowed a whole damn litter of puppies and they won’t stop making you melt from the inside and that’s what this song makes you feel like – kilig. Oh young, new, love.
2. Tides and Lifelines
Okay, just reading the title you’d get an idea of what this song is about. This song reminds me of a lyric from one of my most favorite band ever ever; “love is watching someone die”. (fine it’s from What Sarah Said by Death Cab For Cutie). I think this is one of the songs Createurs wrote and it speaks about mortality and how we deal with it.
“We’re the bullet in each other’s gun, shoot the angels that would take us apart”
Just read those lines. I don’t want to even think how hard it is to be so desperate and helpless in trying to help someone so dear in the brink of death. Ouch, I’m just gonna go and cry for a while.
3. Teragram Carnivale
“Shadows fall on rooms like this, where the sun and the moon collide, with your eyes that once were my carousel rides”
I feel like we all can relate to this song in some way. It has to be relevant to every one of us at some point in our lives. We all wanted to believe in something that has grew its root around our hearts and got a little too caught up in the roller coaster rides. I think this song brings you back to that particular time to make you realize that the past never changes and they never go away. Definitely in my top 3.
4. Facemask
I think I’ve played this song one too many times when they uploaded this on spotify before. Mostly because of its catchiness and its angst. Lol sorry I know, I can’t think of a better way to describe it. You can actually feel the song’s anger and disappointment wrapped in some sort of vengeful feeling.
I liked the lines “You’re only fooling yourself, messing everyone’s head.  A catfish, a sly dish, the culprit, gets blown kiss”
In this digital era, anything and everything can be edited or lied about and it gets sickening when someone or a group of people manipulate others by lying to them about important things.  Technology is a beautiful thing if used for good, but there is some greed in humanity that uses it for something else entirely.
5. Trigger Warning
“It’s the beginning and it’s the end. When all the light has been set, a warning when night is at best.”
I feel like this song was supposed to be in the beginning? It would have been nice to have heard this intro to all their haunting songs, both in a good and eerie way. It’s like the ones you hear when you watch a horror movie that gives you chicken skin and cool fog kinda vibes. It’s a mood setter, a look into the mirror of our own self. It asks you to look inside and acknowledge that you are one of these monsters you are so scared of.
6. The Curious Life of Mr. Hyde II: The Mexicat
This song is still in my everyday playlist. It’s been there since I’ve met Rain the night they played for WAT Up the first time and I got sucked into their music. Oh god I have so many favorite lines from this song!! It’s about mental issues and it perfectly sings the chaos that is in one’s head. They wrote this to try and explain how complicated it is to be in the state of unstable mental health in a very poetic way.
Here are my top 3 lines (YESS BECAUSE I CANT CHOOSE OKAY?? ☹ ); “The colorful imagery of dancing audacity”, “Conversing with my demons, addicted to the tone”, “I haven’t got a martini or any kind of whiskey, But baby you’re my margarita, drunk in love with you”.
Welp. Let’s just say I love the entire lyrics ugh
7. Pianocktail
OH THIS! I love this one. This reminds me of my other favoritest band forever – Panic! At The Disco. The story within and the sophistication in this one is something that’s imprinted into my fanatic heart (awow).
“The taste has never been this condescending. A drink to be made by the one and only pianocktail!”
Ah, there’s nothing more tripping than an uncertainty for something you’ve had for so long.
8. Chat Box From Alaska
“She’s a part-time lover and a beautiful liar, plagued with her broken words and empty promises. Cornered by the pillars of her comfort and embrace, making out with someone better, someone smoother, someone tastier”
I feel like this song is basically for fuck girls who manipulates people for sex by leading people on and leaving them just as fast. I think the last part of this song was written by Rain as a poem years and years ago? Nevertheless, it ended the song so smoothly.
9. Awful Things the Moon Saw
This song makes me think of obsessive lovers or past ones that refuses to let it go. Maybe it’s also us when we hold on a little too tight on something that’s already slipping away.
“Well you know you’ve got me haunted by your scent, Now I find myself begging and falling for you more and more.”
It is also kind of a lullaby to me for some reason, I can sleep soundly with this one playing hehe
10. St. Cecille
This one’s also in my playlist since I’ve first heard it. I think I read the story behind (or at least heavily connected) this song, written by the vocalist. He has a lot of passion, idk ask him. JK!!!!
"Rhyme our thoughts in this waltzing dreams. Time stops when you are around. You’re the one I’ve been talking about on the song of roads and hearts”
I wish I can share with you guys the link to the story but I’m not sure if he’d like that. Anyway, this love song is right up my alley – mysterious, magic, and love? Hell yas.
11. Bloodstream
All I can say about this is that I am so excited for the story to come out because I want to look more into it. Twilight’s werewolves just left the building.
“Chaotic, poetic, and overly narcissistic. Hypnotic, agnostic, but slightly optimistic. Out of the forest to Manila fucking buses. It’s a tale about a man who waltzed among carcasses.”
It’s a midnight story!
12. Stellar Memories
The first song, besides the ones I’ve already heard before of course, that caught my attention in the album was this one. It’s a desperate attempt to preserve something we believe in and wish for its memories to last up to our end.
“Set up the fire and let’s dance around the house. Then watch it burn down like the dreams we fought so hard to get. If this is it, hope higher, ‘cause we’ll hide from the world and never make a….”
I feel like this is the best song to end the album with because I didn’t want it to end and I just kept it on loop for all its entirety because I liked each song.
I’ve already wrote a (lengthy) Instagram post about their well thought branding and packaging but I also want to commend them for the bomb line up and organized launch! Page Four Production reminded me so much of the first gigs of WAT UP and made me miss the team. From promotions to media exposures, to the materials! I look forward to attending gigs they’d come up with!
I won’t ask for more releases so soon because I want to savor this album and all its stories. I’ve already heard the Part I of Mr. Hyde and it’s Createurs’ gift to everyone who attended their launch so if you are curious, wait for the next album maybe it’d be included there.
This album will always have a special place in my heart. It’s definitely worth the long wait. Congrats, Createurs!
Listen to them on Spotify and follow them on their social media pages to be updated!

2,3 and 4 for Minor, 9, 18, 22 and 24 for Dolly aaand 26, 29 and 34 for Citrine eue
Oh god this is gonna be long, FORGIVE ME LOLUrsa Minor Calvera (NG son of Twilight and Bray):2. What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?Honestly, a bit awkward. Though he loves his mom dearly and would want to protect her he often feels he's not enough for her, or rather he will not do something as "important" as say his brother and sister. He wants to be closer, but with her duties and doting/worrying over the other children he tends to just keep his distance and resume his own studies. 3. What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?I would like to think it's less awkward than him and Twilight. Minor really looks up to his father and the feats he accomplished prior, and hopes to be as strong and respected as him someday. But again, he is outshone by his siblings, and with his own ruined record does not feel he can be respected on the same level. Still, if he has any questions or is seeking any advice on things, Bray is he first to come to mind. 4. Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?Hmmm, that's a bit tricky, considering I don't remember if we changed one specifically in the story. To me it comes down to two things though: Star's power surge and Minor's first encounter. In the original story we had going Minor and Star snuck into the town to explore, and do to a sudden wave of anxiety Star released a surge of magic that hurt Minor. Minor has always worked to be close to his twin, but after that he came to realize just how powerful Star was. After that Star became more reclusive, went to go study more magic, and suddenly Minor was alone. He had to learn to suppress a LOT of emotions, thoughts, and even came to realize he wasn't as "valued" as his now distant brother. It really taught him to start hiding away from other ponies, as Minor himself became... Well, minor in comparison. On another note, the second thing that really changed him was his first encounter with a being known as Morning Grace. This "pony" came to him one lonely night, reassuring the small foal that he was not alone in the world, and that in fact there were "friends" all around him. The encounter lead Minor to do something nopony had heard of for who knows how long: communication with shadows. I'm not talkin dark magic or anything, Minor actually learns to speak to shadows through Morning Grace's guidance, as well as walking amongst them, travel, learning how they are deeply connected to the world, and so on. But this encounter also leads to him falling too deep into their comfort, eventually allowing his own pride to take over and nearly destroy the kingdom that shoved him in the shadows in the first place. Those two changed him greatly, and though he is doing his best to learn from it and try to earn the respect of the ponies who now fear or despise him, he is struggling every day not to sink deeper and deeper into the shadows that bring him such companionship. Dolly:9. Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?Dooo you mean from when she started living with the hounds, or her parents? :3cEither way yes, they're both quite different. The mountain hounds are certainly a step down for obvious reasons, but life with Sealed and Cannabis isn't exactly luxurious as well. Though the two of them offer what they can and fill their home with goods they find or don't have the heart to sell, there's still something pretty big that's a step down. But you shall see that later, huehuehue. 18. Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?Actually, ambition! There's something about an ambitious pony that makes her little heart excited, and motivates her to work harder in a way. To her ambition is the knowledge that something will work out in a certain way so long as it's worked for or, better yet, the pony behind it has the wisdom to execute it. But, keep in mind she's still quite little. She's learning the difference between wisdom and ambition as she goes, and her memory problems make it all the harder to retain. Hopefully some helpful creatures will be willing to steer her in the right direction when distinguishing the two. 22. What does your character like in other people? She will always admire genuine and understanding creatures, no matter what they are or how bad they may seem. The world is hard enough with these new rules and faces surrounding her, so it helps to meet someone who is patient enough to hear her out. Someone who is honest with how they feel or what's happening, and who can essentially be a good friend. She also admires those who really fight for what they believe in, and who are not willing to give up at the drop of a hat. 24. How quick is your character to trust someone else?Way. Too. Quick. As nervous as she can be with first encounters she tends to believe a lot of things so long as they're presented as a fact. "Oh- you don't get to have today's ration because you forgot to kick the last pebble." "Hey I know who you are, Sandra! We need to hurry home before Mom gets mad!"It's gonna be played with later but- shit, someone save my baby, she needs a good pal or parental figure to kinda nudge her in the opposite direction if bad creatures come along and be like "NOPENOPENOPE."Citrine Quartz:26. How does your character behave around children?Better than you would think, lol. Though he gets lots of stares and kids of course pick at the fact he's small, he actually likes listening to them and roughhousing a bit if he knows their families pretty well. He knows they're just scamps for the most part and does his best to treat them with smiles. Teenagers are another story, but kids he likes. uwu29. What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?Citrine has always wanted to be a protector. As a foal he saw how poorly those on the streets were treated, like him and his mother, and felt there needed to be a pony that would speak for the ponies and protect them at all costs. So joined the royal guard in hopes of being captain someday; however, though he has worked hard and more than proven himself as a strong pony, he has remained as first lieutenant under Sterling Silver for some time. He's not exactly happy being just that, and believes there are still things that need to be changed, but he does his best to keep a watchful eye and make sure things are running smoothly. 34. Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?You better believe he's gonna try each and every idea until something goes right! That little guy has had to work to be twice as quick in stride and mind, so he's open to changing methods so long as they have some hope of overcoming an obstacle.
