Demisexuality: Type of sexuality where a person experiences sexual attraction only after establishing a strong bond with someone. This strong bond can consist of either a romantic relationship or a strong friendship.

It is one of the many shades of asexuality. It lies in the middle between asexuality and allosexuality. It should not be confused with chastity or sexual abstinence, and therefore IT'S NOT A CHOICE.

A demisexual person can be gay, lesbian, straight, bi, etc. but many people struggle to understand this.

Months ago I was defined by a TERF as a "spicy straight woman who wants to pretend to be discriminated against" when she herself was discriminating against me and it is a fact that people on the asexual spectrum are discriminated against both inside and out the LGBTQIA+ community itself.

We exist, and we will not stand down.

i have recently come to the conclusion that i am not bisexual and that i am, in fact, a lesbian. it’s taken awhile to get here (three years) and i finally felt okay about it.

i’ve worked through a lot of internalized homophobia, and i feel like i’m finally able to say “yeah, i’m me. i’m a lesbian, and im a christian. we exist and i don’t want us to be silenced anymore.”

i think we need to step up. we’ve let both sides shame us for just being who we are. it isn’t fair and i’m sick of it.

God calls us to love, not to hate.

i don’t know if this makes sense, i’m known to ramble, but queer christians, we need to make a space for us. we need to be loud. because i firmly believe that there are more of us than we think, some are just waiting for others to speak out because they’re too scared to do so themselves.

no more hiding, no more pretending this other side of us doesn’t exist (wether that’s your queer side or christian side)

God loves you so SO much, you hear me? and he didn’t create all of us to sit back and take shit that others throw at us.

we can do something about it. i believe that.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, the follow up to Transgender Awareness Week. It was founded on November 20, 1999 by a trans right group led by Gwendolyn Smith to memorialize trans people such as Rita Hester who lost their lives due to violent transphobia. It has since also expanded to include trans individuals who passed away from being denied proper medical help due to their identity and those who sadly ended their lives due to depression caused by external and internal transphobia. These individuals were living humans who just wanted to be themselves and were denied that right by institutions and society who failed to understand the meaning of being transgender.

Over 23 years have passed and transphobia is still a common issue, especially in this social climate who tends to politicize everything deemed “different”. Despite this problem, society is rapidly changing and becoming more accepting of trans people existing with others. Those who left this world may be gone, but they will never be forgotten. Whether you are trans yourself or a trans ally, be the bright, shining light in spite of all the darkness.
