So apparently people have been rocking the boat about shipping?? (Man I miss a lot when I'm absent.) And I just want to say that if we ship, platonically/romantically/our muses just musing together in general, that you can absolutely take all the time you need to respond or talk about it! (This goes for IC and OOC.) First and foremost, this is a hobby. And whoever makes you think that they take priority over your personal life and space is the problem. For fucks sake it's 2023 and most of us should know by now that your life and wellbeing are far more important than shipping. Just because you aren't able to spend all day every second of the day dedicated to being a shipping partner doesn't make you any less invested. As others have said, everyone's gonna show up a bit differently and that's okay!! You're human, and you have your own style and ongoings just like every other living entity on this hellscape we call earth. And even if you're not online 24/7 or responding every single day, or perhaps take breaks that span a few weeks/months/etc., does not make you a flaky friend/partner/writer. Life's been rough for most of us lately, and again this is a hobby. It's supposed to be fun not stressful. So don't let others try to make it that way and do what you need to do to take care of yourself and stay true to your boundaries. Much love and fuck the people that think your time isn't valuable outside of this silly little hobby. 💙

You completely missed the point of that post. Ppl noticed a weird trend of the mean girls/bullies they knew in high school going in to nursing & were trying to figure out why they would go in to a field where they have to take care of others. I didn't notice this till it was pointed out to me by my Nurse friend + my friend who is a CNA in pre-med. Saying "there's a concerning trend of toxic women gravitating towards nursing" is not saying "nurses are toxic!" It's not about nurses. It IS a thing.

Hello, I just wanted to touch base on a relevant topic, though as a small CC creator who usually only does recolors and the occasional tattoo, it may not be important given the amateur quality of these creations-

However, as I begin working on CC again, and with EA's current statement about CC releasing, I felt the need to let everyone know that my CC will continue to be up for download over on Patreon. However, I have never, and will never, request payment for them. I see no reason or need to put up the things I create for monetary gain.💕

I'd also like to say that I am only staying on Patreon as it's a lot more reliable than SFS (plus I just dislike using it as a CC maker AND downloader) and while Dropbox is fine, I personally don't like using it to upload things such as CC. And I will say, Patreon is NOT a bad platform in itself, it is how individuals use it that gives it a bad name. The platform itself is very useful and, for me at least, has more ease to it.

But regardless, I felt this needed said as I begin creating again. 💕

Because there's a decent amount of discourse crossing my dash and also an apparent influx of new users, I'd like to talk about how to (dis)engage with discourse in a healthy way.

One important facet is that anyone staunchly on one side is - whether purposely or not - grossly oversimplifying the issue.

Why? For one, things are more inflammatory that way. They spread easier and lend themselves better to moralizing. They're easier to understand. They don't require serious thought or critical thinking; they can just be treated as an absolute moral principle. The problem is this destroys nuance.

Every complex issue has nuance. Extremes are rarely correct. Nuance requires a higher level of understanding of an issue, but it's important nonetheless.

Let's take pro- and anti-shipping as an example. The extremes here are "it doesn't matter because it's just fiction" and "if you're proshipping you support abuse" - neither of which are healthy! They spread virulently and facilitate arguments. They're both hard and fast, and allow for little to no wiggle room based on the particulars of a given situation.

What might nuance look like here? Maybe it would be "fiction does affect reality and how people view it, and some viewpoints are toxic in fandom spaces. That said, fiction needs to be able to tackle serious topics, whether fanmade or not, as part of what makes us human. We shouldn't rid fiction of what makes it multilayered and interesting in our haste to root out content we find unpleasant, but there are some subjects that must be handled incredibly carefully or not at all. However, at the same time, I'm able to recognize that anger directed towards the other side or people who create things I disagree with is not and will never be constructive."

That's a lot longer, isn't it? That's because a nuanced view on any given issue isn't and should not be able to be summed up quickly. We must allow for complexities. On complicated subjects, our opinions should take time to explain and have taken time to think about.

People on here will constantly tell you that they're right, no ifs or buts about it. By doing so, they seek to rid you of your own critical thinking and instead recruit for their viewpoint, shutting down important dialogue entirely. Strangers on the internet are not, and will never be, a good source for your own morality. Be informed by the facts they present, but never take anything else without a healthy heaping of salt.

It is your task to determine what you believe is morally sound on a given issue. This requires a good deal of thought and reflection in order to form an opinion with true nuance, and this is the best way to develop your own moral compass and a better understanding of the world. Your opinions should be your own and come from a place of your own wisdom and compassion. You can't grow as a human otherwise.

Also, in general, don't engage with discourse or the like if you don't want to. You are not a bad person for avoiding it, and it's healthier that way. Plus, it has a bad tendency to turn very toxic very quickly and rarely accomplishes much in the end, so disengage, breathe, and remember you have the right to form your own morality.

Dearly beloved, hatted and gloved, just popping in to let you know that I'll be off on summer holiday/vacation on friday (Iceland during Pride month for 9 days here come the chaos queers), so the content will slightly die down for a week or so. PSA: You should question news articles that make you not want to vote

Hey Tumblr friends, but especially young Americans in this, the year of our Lord 2024.

Unfortunately, it is an election year.

Unfortunately, a US election year becomes everyone's problem, and yes everyone else, we are very very sorry that you have to deal with our nonsense.

But in all seriousness, the level of propaganda that's going to be flung around on all sides is going to reach peak levels this year for the English-speaking internet in particular. There's going to be a lot of influence operations, on all sides, and yes including on sides you agree with but they are still influence operations.

Source: I am speaking as a cybersecurity professional who also did a great deal of work in election security.

So, here's what I am going to ask you to do. What I am going to beg you to do: be careful of any article that makes you think there's no point in voting.

That's it. I'm not going to tell you who to vote for, or how to think, or that you should trust or distrust every article out there. I don't care about that. I care about whether or not it makes you think you shouldn't vote.

A lot of influence operations are about making you feel like there's no point. That both sides are just as bad as the other. The the election is falsified. That you can "protest" by not voting (false: you will simply not be counted and your voice will be ignored). All sorts of reasons not to vote.

No matter what you do, what you believe, or who you trust, you really really have to vote this year, and every year, and you need to not listen to articles that say there's no point because among those articles are in fact active foreign influence campaigns trying to promote one side or the other for their own reasons, I am deadly serious right now.

In 2016, Russian influence operations were focused on tearing down Hillary in order to specifically depress voter turnout among young men of color in the belief that this would help Trump get elected.

From the article: "“Buried literally in the middle of the indictment is a paragraph that should jar every American committed to the long fight for voting rights,” Anders wrote in a statement. “The Russians allegedly masqueraded as African-American and American Muslim activists to urge minority voters to abstain from voting in the 2016 election or to vote for a third-party candidate.”

This is the flavor of influence campaign that has been proven, that does exist, and is the sort of thing that does numbers here on Tumblr.

Things like the situation in Gaza, for example, are incredibly fraught situations. Articles don't even need to lie about facts on the ground there to make people feel hopeless and angry. Again, I am not telling you who to trust or not trust when it comes to news sources. But if an article about this event, for examples, makes you think or even outright tells you, "There's no point to voting, both sides are awful, I just shouldn't bother." You need to pause and at least consider that this might be an influence operation. You need to think critically. You need to check sources. You need to think about the world you want to live in, to vote for, and who might not want that world to happen for any variety of reasons.

Protesting by failing to vote isn't a real thing.

Old politicians ignoring young voters because they famously do not bother to vote is absolutely 100% a real thing. It is why so many policies that are popular with young people are low priority for politicians: they are not afraid of losing the young vote because no one plans on having it in the first place when it's never there in big enough numbers to matter.

So please, please, read what you want. Believe what you want. Follow your heart and your brain and whatever other organ you want to think with. I'm not here to tell you who is right, wrong, trustworthy, good, or bad. I'm just here to tell you that despite all of that, whatever you read, you must vote in your elections, no matter where you are in the world and you must not listen to voices that tell you not to as a protest.

quick sum: almost close to your due date, what is wrong with a late-night grocery trip with your very excited and anxiously waiting fiance?

psa 🗣️: a little dad! jude blurb bc we haven’t seen much of this on the timeline!! like always hope you enjoy 🤍

"why are you bending down? you know that is bad for you," you rolled your eyes at your fiance's scolding, grabbing the keys from the floor. "i dropped the keys by accident," you say as you pick the correct key that belonged to the lock. jude rubbed your belly, ensuring you were okay before helping you out to the car, the reusable bags tucked underneath his arm.

"did you bring the list?" you ask him seeing as he nods and pulls it out from the pockets of his hoodie. "i did. i also brought you some snacks because you didn't eat much after getting some nausea," you pouted your lips leaning up to peck his cheek thanking him. "what would i do without you?" you tease, a playful scoff falling from his lips.

"what makes you think you'd be without me? i'm attached to you for life remember?" he grabs your left hand kissing over your ring finger as he gives you a knowing look. you feel as he brings your intertwined hands to your belly, "and you're carrying my baby in there."

"really i couldn't tell," you say sarcastically.

"let's make it quick because my feet already hurt and i want to sleep," you advised letting out a tired yawn. despite being close to your due date, you still had some work to do before maternity leave. making calls to set meetings, attending them over zoom, filing paperwork, in charge of making sure the firm doesn't backfire, and planning some stuff out for your wedding.

jude had told you multiple times to take it easy, but placing that aside, he always helped you unconditionally. in the shower, when cooking, taking care of chores, before bed, and attending all your doctor's appointments. he was your personal midwife and wanted to take care of you the most he could.

you remembered to look on his face when you told him you were expecting, the tears on his face as he spoke to your barely bump all night and traced his hands on your belly. singing and humming lullabies and stories about his day. since then he wanted to protect you the best he could.

going to the grocery store at this time was nothing new, in fact, it became so prevalent now that you were pregnant because you craved everything. making jude do a late run to pick up your cravings or groceries for the upcoming weeks. the same store, at the same time.

you placed your purse on the cart, snuggling into your jacket as the cold air inside the store blew you away. you followed jude who picked out veggies and greens for his meal prepping, helping him tie the bags and weigh them on the digital scale that produced labels. you watched in awe as your boyfriend picked out three pairs of different flowers. "what are these for?" you asked, smelling the flowery scent.

"for the house. we need to replace the old ones that dried out," jude says with a shy grin. "you were the one who said plants and flowers bring a sense of home into our house, " jude recalled your words, kissing your temple, pushing the cart since it became a bit heavier. "i did say that didn't i? well i wasn't wrong," you shrug, wrapping a hand around his bicep as he trailed along isles to pick up the different items on the list.

he did all the heavy lifting as you reached and picked stuff up from your level, like spices and eggs. you turn your back for a few seconds to retrieve some milk and coffee beans for the morning, to see the cart filled with pop tarts and other salty snacks. "no no no," you shake your head, as jude whines out protests. "y/n we need them! they're even on sale!"

“jude, i don’t care! we just got some three days ago!,” you say laughing, putting back the box of pop tarts. “y/n i’m telling you right now, in a couple of hours or days you’re gonna have me running back here for them,” jude states following behind you.

“am not!” you quickly defend, bringing a hand to your aching back. “are too! last night you had me running out for cheetos. what’s it going to be today? kettled popcorn? or wingstop?” jude teased making you rolls your eyes and focusing back on to what needed to get done. “don’t forget we need to pick some of that acid reflex stuff for you, to get rid of the heartburn,” jude reminds you, taking the cart and walking out of the pop tarts isle, sneaking a box in for you.

“what’s left on the list?” you ask him, taking out a small snack you had in your purse and offering some to jude. “we need bananas, strawberries, orange juice, and meats for upcoming dinners…” jude reads the list one by one, using his index finger as he goes along.

you pass by an isle grabbing some cereal and granola for your yogurts and bowls. jude insisting he grabs his favorite too since you refuse to share from your part. as you wait by the deli section jude come behind you, grabbing your belly and relieving some of the pressure.

you immediately lay your head back on his shoulder sighing in relief, hearing jude chuckle and place a kiss on your head. “almost there darling,” he whispered running one of his hands along your tummy. “i know what you’re doing jude… and if this baby starts kicking right now i’ll leave you here,” you warn.

“i’m just trying to help you love. doesn’t it feel good?” he reprimanded as you nodded. “yes but not when she starts kicking, i swear she does it on purpose and it’s your fault. like she knows it you,” you said feeling your lower back less tense and heavy. "i kid you not, last night she almost made me pee from this hard kick!"

"sounds to me like we have a mini footballer coming into our lives," said jude continuing to hold your belly since you were tired and your baby was heavy. he had read the method online with other tips and tricks. jude got more into reading when he found out you were pregnant, wanting to know every effect and secret to ensure a healthy and safe pregnancy.

"let's hope not, i don't think i could handle cleaning up broken stuff around the house every day," you sigh, releasing yourself from his hold because you began to get hot. you didn’t understand how your body was so quick to adjust and then de-adjust from hot and cold, but it was so easy and it drove you mad sometimes.

“you okay?” jude softened his eyes as you let out a breath of despair, holding your hand and feeling a sit squeezed tightly against his. “yeah just got a mini cramp,” you held your back and practiced breathing methods you learned, “i’m good, i promise,” you kiss his hand before retrieving the meats from the butcher. they saw if one ever finds love at first sight, and jude definitely did with you. a smile so bright, eyes gleaming with happiness, a stranger who he fell madly with almost immediately after hearing her say hello. through ups and downs, you found your way to each other and since then, it's a love story for the movies. jude had his career blowing, a beautiful fiancee, and now a baby on the way. what more could he want?

as jude helped bag the groceries into the recycled bags you had, you paid and thanked the cashier whom you got close with on nights like these. asking how her day was, about her kids, anything special, always something to distract her. "you two have a safe night!" she yelled as you turned and thanked, wishing her a good night as well.

after you insisted on helping, you carried four light bags as jude carried most bags since he hated double trips. you guys quickly unpacked everything, longing and wishing to get into bed. you ensure the stove and other appliances are off, grabbing your tea and heading upstairs with jude.

"lay here for me," jude instructed, grabbing some cream and begging to smooth and massage out the muscles on your legs and shoulders. "after we have her, i promise i'll return every single thing you did for me while i was pregnant," you say struggled and full pleasure as the tension went away at jude's fingertips. "oh i'm fully expecting the injured boyfriend method again," jude teased as he finished up.

he grabbed a new book, laying on your side as you brushed and played with a few curls on his head, twirling them around your finger as he breathed softly. he looked so gentle and full of excitement like this, reading to your babygirl, who sensed her daddy's voice as she kicked. she knew, she always knew.

he applied your belly oil to prevent any stretch marks and kissed the small ones that formed along the way. jude cherished your body for carrying his baby in there, for being able to give and bring a new life into his and yours. you laid on your side, jude's chest connecting and fitting the crevasse on your back, holding your tummy as in a way to keep it safe.

you placed and locked hands with his, as jude wishing you a goodnight, peering kissed on your shoulders then finally lips, moaning in delight, a tiny groan leaving his lips. "i love you so much darling," he whispered, kissing your temple and snuggling into you more. "iloveyoutoojude," you said fast, with a playful smile on your lips as you felt a familiar sensation of a certain craving. "okay now i do want some pop tarts..."

PSA: the johnnie ive written about is the fictional version we all have in our minds, we truly don't know how he actually is and it's good to make a balance to avoid any uneasy or parasocial feelings when writing about a real person.

you and johnnie have been dating for around three years and you already decided that he is the man you are going to marry, you two are both almost 30 now which is terrifying but it also is making your baby feaver worsen.
