thinking about chara and the implications of the line "chara hated humanity. why, they never said..." like ok i KNOW something was happening at home. chara baby you didn't deserve that shit i'm so glad you fell down a thousand feet in a cave hole and right into the arms of people who would keep you fed roof over your head and would never raise their hand against you. "eradicate humanity" you're 10 years old how about eradicating your shitfucked surface fam by calling cps first
#soda.txt#chara#(ok idk if this will work but LEEEENGTHY discussion of child abuse below)#ok listen hear me out on this- i know the initial interpretation is a sui attempt WHICH I ALSO AGREE WITH- BUT LISTEN#i believe there was something else going on leading to the whole ''eradicate humanity'' bit and the obvious answer is an unsafe homelife#well. at least for me.#being around people (or perhaps adults) who hurt you and make you feel unsafe in a place where you should be welcomed with open arms and-#a promise of care would probably make any child feel like all of humanity was (in simple terms) cruel and uncaring#so hearing about somewhere they could GET AWAY FROM THAT? of course they'd take that opportunity and run.#chara was just lucky enough to fall into a place that pulled them out of the ideology of ''all of humanity is cruel''#because the dreemurrs were kind and patient enough to take them in and give them a new family#and wouldn't anyone want that?#for the part of The Plan (the buttercups) i think.. i think that one was formed by the idea that chara felt obligated to-#pay the dreemurrs back for their kindness. not that the dreemurrs would have made them. just by their own mental code.#what better way to pay a kind family back- one that took you in and cared for you like one of their own- then by forming a plan to-#set their people free?#they've been stuck down there for so long. they've wanted to feel the sun for SO LONG. why not give yourself up to grant that dream?#idk if these thoughts are coherent. LOL sorry i kinda just started saying words huh#but its ok.#feel free to ask me questions ab my interp of chara btw teehee ^_^ i love talking about chara they're my favorite theyre so silly#ok now for the proper tags on this bitch#chara undertale#chara dreemurr#child abuse mention#suicide mention#tw child abuse#safeutdr#OH ANALYSIS TAG UHHH UMM#🧪lab notes

Tis a bit late, but I've drawn a thing for Undertale's 7th anniversary!! It's very vaguely based off of the oldest fanart I had (at least on my Google Photos account; there's probably older stuff somewhere.) the original drawing will be under the cut!!

Hm. A short, angry human child blocks the path.

iiiii ummm uhhh little drawings from the fic cus i fixated on my own writting jabsjwhdhe i have a looot to talk about so i will do it under the cut, the fic link will also be here
my girly pop, its weird posting stuff on ao3 but like shes there, the whole fic is me posting random little stuff i wrote on a whim so it will be noticeable dhbfjsjd also warning I might have made everyone a biiit out of character so im kinda sorry lols
now for fun notes and stuff about the chapters i did not add to the end notes
"The sun shines bright" not much to not other than after this clover's hand hurt for like a day and flowey bullied the peck out of them,,, also this is the only time flowey calls clover an idiot on this fic
"The flower pot incident" after the end clover spends like 10 minutes explaining everything about flowey, but he explains it like a little kid would, making it confusing as hell, so ceroba gives up and just like pats him and tells them to be good or smth, it was the same with everyone else
also bad quality comic of how the pot came to be
Tumblr media
"What kind of milk were you?" the song came in as i was finishing the chapter and it fitted so well i named the chapter after it, as i mentioned it was me like poking gently to clover's life before the underground, his thought process was mostly thinking marlet was angry at them over doing the dishes in "secret" idk how to explain it but yeah :( poor little fella, also as noted at the end, flowey observed all happening and just like kept in mind
"Sewing back the pieces" I loved imagining how clover's room looked, and i had to include it, more joking around from the best friends, id like to think clover knows how to sew but they are just a bit clumsy with the needle, also those things are slippery...
"The calm before the mall" I feel proud about the title pun(? but this is also what i kind of meant with flowey keeping things on mind, by the time of this chapter a bit of time has passed of them living with humans, and flowey knows how stuff can be and how clover is a biiit shy so thats why the warning was persistent, it didnt work but meh
"Fertilizer is a fun word" IT IS A FUN WORD i love writing it lol, but seriously, i tried exemplifying more the thing of clover not speaking a lot so flowey does most of the talking for them, they do speak a bit but its short sentences and very quietly,
"You are just a boy, you are no man" this one will be long again the song fitted and it came on while writing the middle lol, clover does not know very well about the whole story with chara, but they do know that buttercups are meaningful in some sort of way for flowey so thats why they picked them, now is fun to note that the comments about their friends being monsters did bother clover but the one comment that like spilled the cup was the age one, that one hit deep and thats why they reacted that way, also the amount of people did not bother clover that much when they arrived but like the panic and stuff made them very aware of everyone around and med everything worse so ye, lastly, another time flowey calls someone idiot, this time dalv (sorry king)
i think thats all, if there's a specific choice yall are curios about feel free to tell me :3 i will probably have an answer for it

Undertale/ISaT crossover thoughts 2
Been thinking more about this despite trying to vent out all my thoughts in this previous post and now I have something of a plot I figured I'd share (in case anyone else would like a stab at it/some ideas for their own Undertale/ISaT crossover fanworks).
Story opens with a time looping Chara in the void hitting their breaking point. The wish for freedom from generations of monsters + their own alternating wishes to free their family and hurt the humans who hurt them equals a loop that begins with their incredibly painful death to buttercup induced internal blistering, and ends whenever Asriel (post absorbing Chara's soul) is killed or they 'fail to punish' Chara's human family and well. Chara doesn't know the rules so the two have them have been looping so long that now when they reach the village of humans by Mt Ebott, instead of the friendliness they were shown in early loops (before getting murdered by the official authorities who 'already have orders on how to treat monsters') the villagers now attack them on sight in terror (sobbing monster thing? Sadness!), and they keep dying over and over and over-
Basically full 'Start Again a prologue' vibes, and so Chara in full please just make it stop mode wishes to the Universe...
For everything that hurt them and monsters to be forgotten like a bad dream! (cue The Island, Sif and Chara's homeland, as well as certain nasty individuals like Chara's human 'family' being erased from memory)
For someone kinder, stronger, and untainted by hate to 'be the angel' to free the monsters in their place.
To feed the golden flower seeds stuck in Azzy's fur with their corpse.
To atone in any way for all the pain they've caused.
(To one day be able to sit and stargaze on top of Mt Ebott together with those they love, just like they promised Asriel they'd be able to do)
Cue time skip to after the end of Undertale and Flowey's 'please don't reset and ruin their happy ending' speech, to show Chara's ghost flopping on top of their flowerbed grave wondering how long they'll be able to last before they give in and ruin Frisk's happy ending once more (with heavy implication that Chara is once more stuck in a time loop with no idea how to get out).
Then a cut to Toriel and Frisk making their way down Mt Ebott and spying a shooting star, Toriel remembering her religion (goodness, how could she have forgotten the Universe?) and praying/wishing to the Universe to 'have one of its stars watch over her fallen children, and give them the happiness she could not'. Cue Chara being shocked out of their non existent skin by a person with the head of a star crashing down right through them onto their grave out of seemingly nowhere.
(Aka, Plot line 1: Chara is trapped in time loop hell and Loop has been sent to help them and possibly Flowey? out of it. ... That's literally all I've got for them right now because I have NO idea how to actually have them interact XD)
---
Next section of story cuts over to the northern coast line of Vauguard: Sif and family (including Nille) are on their way back to Bambooche after their most recent travels when basically the world explodes into colours, Sif suddenly remembers a LOT more than they used to and they can all now see the large landmass to the north.
Much eye boggling, confusion, wonder and tears are had before everyone kind of parties and passes out but next day, things are being taken much more seriously:
Why is Sif's forgotten homeland, the Isle of Chara, suddenly back? Why are colours? How is this going to effect all of Vauguard (the fashion industry alone..)? And... What happened to the people of the island? Are they ok or..? And how will the rest of the world react to them being the epicenter of so much very unexpected change?
Cue brief discussion on whether or not to go (mostly just double checking with Sif if he's actually up for it despite the many potential horrors they could find there that are sure to be extra traumatising to them in particular), the group checking in with the House in Bambooche to have word sent to the rest of Vauguard (and hopefully the world at large) that the Saviors of Vauguard are on the case, and well. They could catch a boat or they could try walking along that MASSIVE steel and concrete bridge with its weird black road stretching out over the ocean (which was apparently there the entire time and ok, now everyone is getting really freaked out because it seems there was a fair bit more forgotten than 'just' the Island and the Stars. What else did everyone have stolen from their heads?).
(Aka, Plot line 2: The Saviors of Vauguard heading for The Island, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst, and also the plot line I've done by far the most work on, to the point that it probably needs it's own post)
---
And last section, Frisk leads their monster friends down Mt Ebott back to 'the village of the humans' they came from and the monsters are stunned by the sight of... Well, wailing and sobbing adults who barely give the monsters a second glance, curious and 'just as silent as Frisk' children who smile and wave, and an old man Frisk introduces as 'Elder' who despite being very wobbly and also in tears, does his best to greet the monsters, thanks them for returning Frisk and very politely asks if Asgore is their king and here to kill them all as the stars foretold.
Cue a bit of awkward 'Um. Yes and no?' with a request to open talks with the 'leaders of humankind' only for the old man to laugh and cry as he explains that he's the closest thing this settlement's had to a leader for years now by virtue of being one of the few adults here with enough presence of mind to actually function through The Forgetting (he thanks his younger years of being an avid traveller) and that since the monsters breaking the Barrier seems to have made The Forgetting stop and they seem to have some form of government then honestly, they're the ones in charge now since stars know there's probably not much left of the Island's government still remaining all this time, and it's doubtful the people of other countries even remember they exist.
Cue everyone other than Frisk who knew all this being very surprised (Frisk's follow up 'explainations' don't really help a lot since The Forgetting is all they've ever known, and Toriel is so messed up when she realises Frisk and a good number of other kids literally can't talk or read without 'Communication Craft' due to the memory wipe effects they suffered under while growing up) and well. Monster kind move out of Mt Ebott at a breakneck pace while Toriel, Asgore, Alphys and everyone frantically try to get everyone settled, help all the very damaged Islanders into as much stability as they can (some recover better than others but there's a lot of grief over lost family, missing people, etc going around and monsters end up stopping more than a few suicides), and get things organised enough they know everyone will be fine before they can move onto working out WTF happened here. Also in the process of all this they end up working out that some things (like who was in charge before The Forgetting) are still being 'auto deleted' from memory (though the effect is fading as time goes on) and also the Island's capital is a space warped nightmare filled with Sadnesses right now and probably everyone should avoid it.
Lots and lots of world building regarding what Monsters vs Sadnesses are, my headcanons for the Universe religion (going with the Monsters also traditionally being Universe worshippers and much talk is had on the differences between 'the old ways' Toriel and Asgore remember vs the traditions and beliefs of the Islanders), and... yeah.
(That's Plot line 3: Frisk leads the monsters to the one semi stable human adult they know of and the monsters realise that not only are they free to live on the Surface now but the local humans both see them as saviors and desperately need their help after going through something that arguably makes the Underground look wonderful in comparison.)
---
Eventually I'm going to have to tie all three of these ideas together and I think I've got some ideas for Plot lines 2 and 3 such as:
Sif's family and/or Undyne bumping into each other catching all the trains to search for survivors across the Island
Mirabelle and to a lesser extent the whole party finding themselves the official Vauguardian ambassadors to the newly formed human/monster Island/Isle of Chara alliance who are very much in need of aid and more info about the rest of the world.
Papyrus and Frisk also being ambassadors, making all the friendships.
Sif realising 'the Elder' is their grandfather on their mother's side and trying to wrap their head around having any family around at all (and also trying not to think to hard about all the family still missing).
Isabeau and Odile uncovering just how much stuff countries outside the Island forgot (airports, train stations, cars, all that juicey science stuff).
The Saviors of Vauguard and various Undertale folks investigating the capital together (learning some of the less pleasant aspects of the Island's politics and culture while there including stuff about Sif's dad's side of the family and why the name Chara matter so much). But well. So far have NO CLUE how to get Chara, Loop and Flowey involved with the rest of the cast since well, they're reluctant to leave and no one else knows they're there. So. Yeah. That's what I have planned out mostly. Will list a bunch of stuff I've thought of regarding Sif's group going through the Island and their hometown (totally gonna bring up the 'Euphrasie Islander and possibly Sif's mom' theory in story but not actually confirm or deny it since well, Euphrasie is out of focus and most likely going through a major 'my memories have returned, how could I have forgotten-' breakdown her beloved Claude is going to have to help her through <3) but that's for another post and er. Yeah. Please feel free to share any feedback, ideas or thoughts you might have on this, and to take a stab writing/scribbling up some of this yourself as well as I think it cold be a lot of fun and I'd LOVE the help XD

Everyone thinks frisk is like wildly younger than chara but i think they're older. Like a 8-9 year old isn't going around flirting with monsters frisk gotta be like at least 11. I think chara is younger, they're naive. Chara thought killing themself was the only way. Like yea they have a really fucked up thought process but when i was like 10 i started thinking about death and suicide so it's not a crazy idea to think chara had a really fucjed up life. They chose to go to mt ebot, they chose to eat buttercups etc. there ideas are dark but they're still what a child would think of. Coming to a conclusion that's drastic impulsive thinking it's the only way because a kids brain can't see the complexities of these situations. they made up their mind with the little information they had and stuck to it because kids don't often change their minds like that. I think chara was 10

In my opinion, Chara gets really close to forgiving Asriel for messing up their plan, really close to just admitting they made a mistake, Asriel was too soft and kind to ever harm anyone, of course, so it never could have worked.
But once they learn (at the end of the true lab, in my opinion) that Asriel is Flowey, all that progress is erased.
Because they were far more willing to accept "Asriel died because he didn't want to hurt anyone" before it turned out that he went on to hurt a bunch of people.
In Chara's opinion, Asriel got them killed for morals he didn't even keep, because he was all for violence as soon as he no longer had need for it. (Please note that this is Chara's perspective, not mine)
They ignore everything that led him up to this point, going with the stupidly simplistic interpretation that he killed everyone simply because he was bored of doing the right thing.
And they hate him for it, not only did he ruin their plan, he killed all of their royal subjects.
And this doesn't change after the Asriel fight, not at all:
How dare he demand forgiveness after what he's done (he literally says "I understand if you can't forgive me")
How dare he think he is above consequences, that he can get off scott free ("there's no excuse for what I've done")
How dare he act like what he did doesn't matter now he's reset (lol, lmao)
How dare he be the angel, how dare he be the one to free everyone, how dare he think he can redeem himself (as if he did so literally just to spite Chara, as if he was thinking of the prophecy at all in that moment)
How dare he have the gall to criticize them after his betrayal (the point wasn't to hurt Chara, it was to warn Frisk)
They try to keep all this hatred and anger in their brain, no need for Frisk to know, right? (Not that they always succeed)
The point is, post pacifist Flowey might be a little resentful after the events of the buttercup plan. But in that case, it would definitely go both ways.
Chara goes from "You mean everything to me, I would do almost anything for you" to "I would give a corn chip for the privilege of selling you to satan" the moment they learn he is Flowey, and that is...painful and also hilarious.

Asriel Dreemurr is a Prince of Doom ((bangs pots and pans))
Tumblr media
[ALT: he seems like he'd be a prince of doom since princes usually act like their opposite aspect AND he acts like a life player methinks]
via @ghostzdrawz
in a reblog for this post: x
putting this as a separate post because it got so long that i couldn't simply put it below your reblog ^^'
yes that is exactly my classpect for asriel!!
( just as a sidenote, I find it very fun that, given my track record of assigning UTDR characters classpects, when a character is a Prince, they are also literally a prince in canon, like Ralsei, and now Asriel).
Asriel Dreemurr // Prince of Doom
Tumblr media
You (very correctly!) stated Princes ghost their opposite aspect, and they do that since it's only prudent for a destruction class to destroy their aspect through leaning into the opposite one, too. The fact Princes destroy their aspect or destroy with their aspect supports this even more. They're destructive inwards and towards their environment, zeroing in on things having to do with their aspect and, depending on their mental state, destroying the enemies of its well-being or (usually, really) making it wither.
The ways Asriel supports Doom as an aspect are so numerous that it isn't even funny, so I'm just gonna list some things from my aspect notes and provide brief explanations:
affinity for unfortunate events, either in being the victim or invoking them (the incident he and Chara had with buttercups instead of cups of butter, Chara's death and subsequently Asriel's death during the scheme they both agreed on, creating entire timelines where he concocts his own genoroutes)
natural magnet for the worse parts of the narrative (being fated to live as a soulless being by pure chance, since his ashes were on the flowers purely by coincidence)
great supply of empathy and/or wisdom (the former is true for Asriel, who has a soul; the latter for Flowey, who is soulless and tested how things work many times - he even gives you a mock tutorial)
sufferers and martyrs (Asriel sacrificed himself to not kill anyone, even when attacked)
affinity for attunement with some kind of... otherness, alongside Life (like the exiles or horrorterrors in HS, or what I interpret as game mechanics in UT, and kinda just us - Flowey addresses Frisk, Chara and the player all at separate occasions)
Doom's symbolism of skulls, fire, explosions and bombs (he literally uses all these in his various attacks, most in the Omega Flowey form, that one with the added caveat of vaguely destroying Doom by using plants, Life's domain, too; but the skull appears in his Hyperdeath form attack)
literal meanings of death, sacrifice, entropy, acceptance (the first two are already plenty clear, entropy is just what Flowey was doing before we got here again and again, and what he attempts to do as Omega Flowey; and acceptance is what he finally exhibits at the end of True Pacifist)
abstract meanings of deterioration, nihilism, stagnation, static state of affairs, pessimism and limitations (most are already clear - the static nature of Flowey is him resetting again and again, to the point where Sans, along with whoever he was conducting research with, noticed the time anomalies and literally had depression induced because of the fact time is just Standing Still in a loop and nothing seems to matter anyhow so why bother trying <- destroying with Doom at its finest example; but also, the loop could be seen as something exactly opposite, since Flowey always tests something different).
Additionally, as the Extended Zodiac tells us - even though I try to not rely on it too much - the best a Doom hero can be is wise, kind and non-judgmental, while the worst they can be is being filled with bitterness, resentment and fatalism. The difference is between if they cling to the past or if they learn from it.
so, yeah. to sum up, my track record already shows i need very little to get me going about this so i'm very sorry ☝️however, counterpoint: it's really fun to do this hahah

—UNDERLYING—
———————————————————————— an abandoned UT AU!
this never really got off the ground but i’d like to put it out there in hopes to gain the motivation to finish it!!
the last draft i had of this au stopped at waterfall, so that’s as far as most of this info goes
this isn’t really an in-depth look at this au, just a random thought i had a couple years ago and am now sharing with you
enjoy!
————————————————————————
—THE BEGINNING—
after the tragic death of the king & queen’s children and the massacre of human soldiers in the flower fields of the village, humankind cry out in rage, seeking vengeance.
they attack monster-kind, chasing them out of their homes and killing any they could get their hands on. the king and queen gather those they could, instructing them to run for the mountains to seek shelter from the waves of arrows headed their way.
after tirelessly running for hours up the steep slopes and rocky hills of Mt. Ebott, the refugees find a large gaping hole in the forest floor.
they decide to carefully make their way inside….
————————————————————————
—MAGIC IN UNDERYLING—
((i don’t believe the magic in this au is consistent with actual undertale magic, so please keep that in mind!))
the entirety of the Underground relies on magic to keep it stable. due to the lack of magic usage in Underlying, the Underground struggles to maintain itself and slowly dies trying to support the many mouths of the monster population.
things like dead flora and a lack of flowing water are a common sight down here.
————————————————————————
the lack of magic usage stems from the fear that it will attract the unwanted attention of humans to the refugees hiding in the mountains. it’s only used if necessary, mainly being to execute a human.
humans that are found outside the ruins are taken to the king, where he will execute them and store their souls away.
the souls are planned to be used to help start a revolution, one where monsters will have enough magic to take over the surface world and seal the humans underground.
————————————————————————
they rely heavily upon the garbage that ends up in waterfall, making it a place of importance. Royal Guards are more frequent in this area to prevent valuables from being hoarded.
those valuables being fabric, tools, food, electronics, and modern media (books/magazines).
the monsters are not sealed underground due to their whereabouts never being confirmed. this allows them to leave to gather supplies whenever there is not enough in the Underground. this is not a common occurrence as the risk of being spotted is very likely. Royal Guards are the only ones permitted to complete this task.
————————————————————————
when a human comes through, the underground goes into a sort of “lockdown mode”. the streets goes empty, with everyone locking themselves inside their homes or seeking a refuge. Grillby’s is a popular spot, offering good food and lots of company.
————————————————————————
—CHARACTERS—
[[keep in mind that this art is more than a year old and the designs are in need of updating]]
many of the monsters in the underground have become very anxious as a result of their living situation, making it hard to talk to the humans who find themselves trapped underground.
they eventually warm up to frisk, but not after a long talk and multiple attempts to kill them…
————————————————————————
—THE KIDS—
Tumblr media
-Chara-
ran away from the village after finding out about the acts of violence committed against monsterkind
they/them
liked to mess with Asriel (lots of poking fun at him or just general shenanigans)
still ate the buttercups to have Asriel absorb their soul, but took control against Asriel’s will and killed the soldiers who tried to keep him away from the village as he carried their body. this is what resulted in the war against monsters.
-Frisk-
came to the mountain after hearing the rumors of monsters being spotted in the mountains came about
they/them
nonverbal (uses sign language)
tries their best to make their pure intentions clear, has a bit of trouble getting anyone to listen…
-Asriel-
was hesitant to accept Chara’s deal, but knew it could have the chance to restore humanity’s view on monsters if done right
he/him
loved the sky and baking. his favorite thing in the world was getting to see rainbows after a storm
-Monster Kid-
more cautious and less trusting (still believes in the best-case scenario)
they/them
they’ve gotten better at balancing with carrying that large sack around!
—THE ROYALS—
Tumblr media
-Toriel-
has lost her fear of using magic due to her experiences with the fallen children
she/they
faded scars from the battle
the ruins are very botanical thanks to her avid magic usage. she has a very beautiful garden
-Flowey-
has a hard time using magic
they/it
hasn’t fully died due to the experiments, but can’t move around as quickly as they usually can
doesn’t interact with Frisk when they first fall down. later speaks to them in Waterfall
-Asgore-
has trouble seeing (partially blind)
he/him
active in the community, always making sure there is enough supplies for those who need it
—THE SKELETONS—
Tumblr media
-Sans-
used to running
he/him
the more anxious of the two, always trying to keep Pap away from the Ruins
uses his outfit for camouflage in the dead foliage (to be updated..)
main color is orange instead of blue (Bravery)
-Papyrus-
not quick enough
they/he/she
huge nerd for video games
has had his scarf since he was a kid, it’s his favorite thing to wear
after a tip off from someone in the Ruins, Sans warns the townsfolk of Snowdin to hide.
his brother, however, can’t help but try and get to know the fallen human.
at the edge of Snowdin, she tries to convince Frisk to follow him to Asgore, but he mysteriously disappears in the blink of an eye before a single word gets out.
frisk makes their way into Waterfall with nothing but a couple of crackers and a plastic fork.
who knows what’s waiting for them along this path…….
————————————————————————
oh
that’s all i’ve got
it’s nothing impressive but i thought the designs were quite cute
thanks for reading! ;] let me know what you think
no promises that this makes a comeback

Flowey on a date with temmie?
Flowey tries his best to be a gentleman. Bud ends up killing her because of her annoying woice.
Flowey then resets to the beginning of the date thinking he can forsure do it the 3. Time.
*claws my way out of a dirt hole clutching a oneshot like a lifeline* hey guys! sorry I went missing mysteriously. Anyway, loved this prompt, here ya go @pomegranate29, and don't worry my esteemed mutual @ihonestlydunnowhattocallmyself, yours is great too and I'll make sure to write it soon.
Sorry for any typos, I proofread it once or twice so it should be all right. I decided to include the Green Soul even though they probably wouldn't have met Flowey, creative liberties and such.
~~~
“What do you mean, you ‘arranged me a date’?!”
Daisy, the brown-haired human child with a green soul Flowey was allies with, giggled and nodded. “With Tem!”
“Why on Asgore’s green earth would you do that?” asked Flowey, frustrated. Daisy may be his ally, as well as the one in control of the save/load power at the moment, but he definitely felt like strangling them with his vines right now.
“I won’t want you to be lonely when I leave the Underground,” Daisy answered with a wink.
“Right, right…’when you leave the underground…’” Asgore had always said it was the thought that counted in a gift–for instance, he insisted he appreciated the thought while almost dying of buttercup poisoning–but Flowey thought that advice was kind of rot. “Daisy, I’m going to stand her up.”
“What! No!” Daisy grumbled. “In fact, I’m going to be your escort, chaperone, and waiter just to make sure you attend this. Just try to be a gentleman, all right?”
Try to be a gentleman. Okay, Flowey didn’t mind acting a part. ‘Gentleman’ sounded pretty grown up. Trying to suppress a certain Asriel-ish feeling where his chest would be, Flowey just nodded. “Okay.”
“Wow,” Daisy marveled. “I thought you were going to need much more convincing.”
Flowey could tell right away that Daisy was happier than they had been since falling down here and getting a bounty placed over their head. Maybe that's why Flowey didn’t kill Tem as soon as she walked into the room–to satiate his enthusiastic little ally.
Besides, he was trying to be a gentleman. He gave Daisy a quick cue, and they took off his hat for him in a gesture of respect. “Ma’am,” Flowey greeted.
“Oi! Me TEMMIE! Welcom to TeM DAte!”
“Thanks,” answered Flowey.
Daisy clapped their hands excitedly. “Let's start a conversation!”
Tem looked at Flowey expectantly. Flowey realized he was expected to give a conversation prompt. “Okay, geez, uh…Okay. Let's say everyone in Tem village was put in an arena and forced to kill each other. Who would be the last one standing?” It was an excellent prompt, one Chara had once given that made Toriel scowl.
Tem thought hard. “HmM…TeM thincs it wuld b…TEM!!!”
“Which one?” asked Flowey.
“U now…TeM!!!”
“BUT WHICH–ugh, fine.” Daisy had shot Flowey a warning look. “What weapons would they use?”
“TeM wEpOns!!!” answered Tem enthusiastically.
“Stabby or sharpy or other?”
“TeM!”
Flowey lost his temper. “There’s no such thing as Tem weapons! I would know if there were! I've killed all of you thousands of times with thousands of weapons and I've never once come across ‘tem’ weapons!!!”
Tem started sweating and comically slid out of frame. “Tem got uncomfortable and left,” Daisy explained, crestfallen.
“Thank the angel that's over,” muttered Flowey.
“I’ll reload,” Daisy decided placidly. “Let's try again.”
“WAIT! NO NO NO–”
Flowey could tell right away that Daisy was happier than they had been since falling down here and getting a bounty placed over their head. Maybe that's why Flowey didn’t kill Tem as soon as she walked into the room–to satiate his enthusiastic little ally. For the second time, apparently.
Besides, he was trying to be a gentleman. He gave Daisy a quick cue, and they took off his hat for him in a gesture of respect. “Ma’am,” Flowey greeted.
“Oi! Me TEMMIE! Welcom to TeM DAte!”
Daisy smiled. “Water?” they offered.
“GrAPe JUICE!!!1!” answered Temmie. Daisy nodded, filled up Flowey’s glass without him asking (he didn’t even have hands) and hurried to retrieve grape juice.
Tem began telling Flowey a lengthy and surprisingly poetically worded anecdote of the story of how, in her childhood, she had found a seashell in Waterfall, swapped it for bread, then gave it to a starving orphan who needed it more. The voice was high-pitched and gurgly, grating against Flowey’s nonexistent ears until cartoon smoke came out of them. Unable to stand it a single second more, (plus it would be interesting to see how Daisy would react to returning to the room to find Temmie dead,) he made short work of strangling her to death while her comically wide eyes stared into his soul, shocked, before dusting.
Daisy walked back in and gasped, dropping the juice. “Flowey!” they exclaimed rebukingly. “What did you do?”
“I killed her,” answered Flowey, somewhat sheepish despite himself. Daisy frequently had that moral affect–not just on Flowey, but on everyone. Now they were staring at the dust and beginning to cry.
“Stop crying,” Flowey said crossly.
“It’s ruined,” the seven-year-old sobbed. “Everything is ruined. Temmie wouldn’t have died if I didn’t arrange the date.”
“You’re forgetting that you have the save/load ability,” Flowey returned.
“But I saved right before we came inside,” sniffled Daisy. “I’d al-already arranged the date…”
“Then just–” Flowey sighed, trying to figure out how to stop their crying. “Just do this again, okay? I won’t kill her again.”
Daisy pursed their lips and studied Flowey’s expression. They wouldn’t find their answer there, Flowey knew–he pulled an Asriel smile on the child, who finally decided to reload.
Flowey could tell right away that Daisy was happier than they had been since falling down here and getting a bounty placed over their head. Maybe that's why Flowey didn’t kill Tem as soon as she walked into the room–to satiate his enthusiastic little ally. For the third time, apparently. Angel, how many more times was Daisy going to make him do this?
Besides, he was trying to be a gentleman. He gave Daisy a quick cue, and they took off his hat for him in a gesture of respect. “Ma’am,” Flowey greeted.
“Oi! Me TEMMIE! Welcom to TeM DAte!”
“So, do you come here often?” asked Flowey finally as Daisy watched expectantly.
“TeM live here…EVeRY DAY!” answered Tem.
“Right, right.” Flowey nodded. “So, er, what are your hobbies?”
“cARDBOARD!”
“That’s a noun…”
Temmie rose from her seat. “I wiL shOW u!!!!” Leading Flowey behind the counter of the Tem shop, Daisy following close behind. Temmie pressed a brick. Slowly the wall rearranged itself into a door frame. Impressed, because he hadn’t found this secret yet, Flowey entered the dark room.
“LIGHT!” screamed Temmie. The lights turned on. Dozens of intricately carved, flat cardboard statues crowded the room. Daisy gasped in delight and even Flowey drew in a breath at the beauty of Tem’s statues. Waterfall, Snowdin, Hotlands. The Ruins’ door. Cutouts of things that only existed on the surface. Symbols and trinkets. And everyone in the Underground! Flowey admired the detail of each statue, thinking about all the different ways he had killed these people happily, until suddenly he noticed Toriel and Asgore. And with them…a goat boy and a small human child with their face shoved in a bouquet of golden flowers, not visible. The iconic striped shirt was there, though. Flowey felt cold as he looked into Asriel’s eyes–Temmie had managed to capture a quality of bright kindness to a tea–then gazed intently at the Chara statue. Temmie must have copied directly off the palace tapestry, though where she had found it was a mystery. Asgore had had it taken down when he declared war on humanity.
“Flowey, look,” Daisy said urgently, gesturing wildly towards some of the statues, carved out of cyan, orange, blue, and purple. Why did Daisy care so much about these random–oh. These must be the other fallen humans.
Daisy stared, a fog of sad contemplation covering the usual sparkle in their eyes. “Do you really think I’ll be the exception? They all died. Why am I going to be different?”
“Meh.” Flowey responded. Honestly, Daisy was bound to have their soul reaped eventually. But he didn’t want to stress them out.
“cARDBOARD!” cheered Tem. Then she kissed Flowey.
Flowey started choking her with his vines in retaliation, but Daisy started yelling at him to stop, so he reluctantly put her down.
“Say thank you,” Daisy told him.
“Thank you,” Flowey told Temmie.
“uR wELcome!” Tem grinned as the pressure marks on her throat faded. “eNjoY tHE cArDBoARd!”
Welcome to the underground!
An intro post to my AU Undergrowth!
My undertale AU, named Undergrowth, is an AU that's themed around plants, and an idea of the underground being overgrown with different types of plants because of how long they have been stuck underground! Not everything is done yet, but I have basic character descriptions and story lines! Questions about my AU are ENCOURAGED!!! PLEASE!!! SEND ME QUESTIONS!!! I WOULD LOVE TO ANSWER THEM!!! I've been working on this AU for a few months and still trying to tie everything together :D
Undergrowth is written by me. AKA @sillysunflowerdoodles while I had help from a lot of my friends, the idea is my own and I hope you enjoy!:
.・Character Changes & Summaries
CHARA DREEMURR: Chara is an autistic child who fell down when they were 12 whilst running away from bullies. They are genderfluid, going by she/he/they pronouns. They are NOT evil. Chara enjoys things other kids may not “normally enjoy,” but he is very enthusiastic about what he enjoys. After she falls and is found by Asriel, they quickly become best friends.
ASRIEL DREEMURR: Asriel was 13 when Chara fell. While he was a playful and optimistic kid, he had a hard time making friends who truly liked him. The kids he hung out with only wanted to be his friend because he was the underground prince. When Chara fell, he instantly clicked with it, becoming attached.
When Asriel brought Chara to the surface, the events that occur are the same as the events in the game. After eating buttercups as part of a plan to escape the underground, Chara unfortunately dies. After this, Asriel absorbed Chara’s soul in order to cross the barrier to bring them to their old village, but he was attacked soon before he could. Asriel made it back to the underground but dusted on the buttercup garden before he could say goodbye to his parents
TORIEL DREEMURR: After the death of BOTH of her children, Toriel left Asgore without a trace. She fled to the ruins, and whilst being almost completely isolated, grief soon took over her. She started planting buttercups, and studying plants. Over the decades before Frisk fell, she was able to get plants from the surface of the hole and plant those. By the time Frisk falls, Toriel is so blinded by her attachment to both her plants and her desire to protect the humans that fell that she refuses to even bring up the idea of them leaving. The stairs leading to the exit ruins door were destroyed, and Frisk has to try to dig through the rubble while Toriel is either baking or sleeping. Toriel’s fight is harder, as she is reliving her grief of losing every child who has fallen down.
ASGORE DREEMURR: He also fell into a deep depressive state after the children had passed on. Asriel’s dust had scattered on a few buttercup flowers in his throne room, and he became attached to these flowers. He continued to take care of them and re-plant them as time went on. He didn’t deal with Toriel’s disappearance very well either. For a long time, he had assumed an ill-mannered and quick-tempered personality from his grief. He wanted to go back up to the surface and get revenge for his children. By the time the second human fell, he ordered his royal guard to bring them to him so he could take their soul. In a blind rage, he killed four human children before Alphys had to help him snap out of it. After he realized what he did, he slowly became his old, goofy self again. He felt immense guilt for killing the humans, but what he started, he had to finish, for his people.
ALPHYS: After making Mettaton impress Asgore to become a Royal Scientist, Alphys became engrossed in her work, desperate to find a way to escape the underground without killing any humans in the process. Asgore had asked her to make Mettaton able to kill humans, and she simply couldn’t refuse orders from the king, but she felt guilty. After the fourth human fell, she decided to install cameras around the underground, hoping she would be able to help humans before Asgore could reach them. She was also asked by Asgore to help create the core, (along with Gaster) and fuel it with plants instead of what it was fueled within regular Undertale. (To be honest, I don’t fully understand the Core of Undertale so I’m just switching it up.) She made multiple types of plants, some inspired by shows she watched, and others based on human plants she had seen in books that had fallen in the Dump.
SANS: (Who has the nickname IVY for those UTMV fans) Sans made two promises to the old lady hiding in ruins. 1. Protect any humans that fall down and leave the ruins, and 2. Keep an eye on the plants that leave the ruins. He was never a skeleton to break a promise, so every day after he promised her, he would care for the plants. As a royal guard, he was also ordered by to protect the Ruins by Asgore, so win-win. He started studying plants, using similar books Alphys had found from the Dump. He and Alphys are close science friends! Alphy enlists his help when creating a plant-based CORE once she learns he's a huge plant nerd. He's still the pun guy who's mysterious and knows about timelines, but other than that he didn't change much,,,, besides drinking soy sauce...?
PAPYRUS: (Who has the nickname Sun or Sunny for UTMV fans) Due to King Asgore’s need for a bigger, more prominent royal guard, Papyrus was accepted into the guard, even though Undyne (and Sans) were worried at first about this decision. Sans sticks by his side more due to him also being a full guard member. Almost every interaction sans is somewhere on the side besides the date. Papyrus is still his warm-hearted, caring self in this AU, but he is more determined to capture Frisk. He's laid out more puzzles for the humans around Snowdin's forest. Because of his role as a royal guard. Because of the almost overpopulation of plants, and lack of meat, Papyrus's favorite dish to make is vegan ramen!
UNDYNE: Undyne is much more determined to capture a human. She is a lot more harsh, quick-witted, and fierce. She has trained all of the Royal Guard under the watch of Asgore and is fueled by a hatred for humans after she learns the pain Asgore has gone through. She and Papyrus are still close friends, but since the Royal Guard takes up more of both of their time, they don’t do cooking lessons (I know I'm so sad). Undyne and Alphys actually work together, mainly in the field of making Mettaton the best human killing machine around, but due to Alphy’s hatred of her creation, they stopped talking by the time Frisk fell.
METTATON: While Alphy’s original intent of creating him was just for Mettaton to get a new body, Asgore saw the potential of the robot, and had Alphys design a human-killing machine. Mettaton was thrilled to be able to help King Asgore in his quest to make it to the surface, but could tell Alphys wasn’t pleased. The two are a lot closer, like siblings in this AU, Mettaton always being there for Alphys, but not fully understanding why she cared for humans so much. Mettaton is drawn between helping his friend and stealing Frisk’s soul to save the underground and become a star. He shows up a lot more in Hotlands, with a lot more attempts to take Frisk’s soul.
DR GASTER (and the science crew) In my au, Gaster and the other lost followers never fell into The Core. Dr. W.D. Gaster (he just wants people to call him Gaster... but nobody does) was the first royal scientist, but soon retired after Asgore & he saw Alphy’s potential. He retired to be with his sons in Snowdin and is like a goofy dad that retired and all he wants to do is do BBQs and wear those oversized shirts that have puns on them. (sans had to get his pun-loving genes from SOMEONE). While Gaster is a fun-loving dude, he’s cautious around the human. Like Sans, he knows about timelines and shenanigans because he and Sans studied them before he retired. (He refused to study it any further when Sans found his studies and questioned his dad.) While he used to be close to Sans due to their love of science, their relationship has slowly been dwindling since the discovery of timelines and Gaster's retirement, Gaster and Papyrus’s relationship has been improving though!
FLOWEY: Flowey The Flower is relatively the same in this AU. He was still created by Alphys while experimenting with determination, and he taunts Alphys for this ‘mistake’ constantly. He sticks around Frisk a lot more, due to the overcrowding of plants in the ruins, but near the flower bed is where he usually stays.
AND THATS IT FOR NOW!!! I have so much more planned so please stay tuned!
Some random STAGES HCs:
Despite how feral and almost animalistic Stage 3 may be, it isn’t actually that loud. It mainly grunts, scratches, tries to bite, and occasionally growls. But no one has ever heard it do things like purr, or whimper, or scream. Chara didn’t like when it was loud.
It can’t read, write, or speak. And anytime another STAGE kinda goes “co con” with it, they struggle to remember how to do that, too.
When Color eventually gets around to gaining some of 3’s trust, it starts making more noises like purring. It likes head scratches and pets, and most days it’ll just lie down with its head on Color’s lap until it calms downs enough to allow another STAGE to take over.
It can’t speak, so it can’t speak about what scares it so much. Why it believes everyone is such a threat, it can’t describe the things it sees, feels, and hears. Not yet. Killer’s therapist, their friends, and STAGE 1 & 2 are trying to help 3 learn how to do that though.
4 struggles with a lot of homicidal ideation. Chara use to praise it for that, for doing a good job, will make sure to reward it whenever it was good. (All manipulation tactics to make 4 come to like them, of course. To feel thankful that they were “caring” for them after such a painful punishment, or come to think that they were so merciful and kind for forgiving them after a “mistake.”)
4 is like a sleeper agent, only comes out to do what needs to be done then leaves. Their only interest and loyalty is to Chara and the other STAGES, and keeping the rest of the STAGES in line. It doesn’t care for the outside world at all, not about Color or Nightmare.
They claim to care for the other STAGES, but it’s care mirrors the “love” that Chara taught it. Possession, control. Fear and pain.
Killer’s therapist is currently trying to find a way to speak with 4. It hasn’t happened yet, and 4 doesn’t know about her attempts to speak to them yet. It will likely only show up when they feel the therapist is getting too close to something she shouldn’t be, and will probably show up to try and scare her off.
It doesn’t know about Color yet. I feel it’d get very jealous and possessive when it realizes how much STAGE 1 & 2 have come to trust him. Even more when 3 does as well.
Another big thing the therapist is trying to do is help STAGE 1 learn to trust his STAGES and help him understand why they are the way they are. Why they think the way they think, and act the way they do.
Killer hasn’t told the therapist about Something—the Chara in his head— yet. He can’t bring himself, he knows 4 won’t allow it. It’s always lurking over his shoulder, watching him and listening carefully to his every time he even talks about the actual Chara. No way it would allow him to speak about Something.
Something hasn’t been able to take full, complete control of the body yet. The closest they get is whenever 4 is in control, because 4 will actually listen to them and do what they want. Unlike Two, who would just ignore them, and One, who Something would have to bug and intimidate into giving them what they want.
(There was this one time 4 made a bouquet of buttercup flowers for Something. They didn’t ask for them, it just wanted to do something for them. 4 knows that Something misses their family, the Dreemurrs, although Something will never admit it.)
Something makes sure to remind 3, 2, and One of the Rules. 4 enforces them.
Stage 4 and Something know the most about the actual Chara. About the plan they made with Asriel to break the barrier and steal a few human souls. How Chara died. Why they Fell into the Underground.
For Full Res
From PTA (Poketale Ascendance) Chara's POV as she briefly wonders what might have happened if arceus had never found and adopted her into his family/took her into the pokemon world-
-------------
The idea came about cuz i recently replayed through the pacifist run again in celebration of Undertale's 7th anniversary
and I was thinking about my current Pokemon/Undertale AU and how in the Undertale universe of PTA, everyone's lives might actually be for the better because Chara never fell into Mt. Ebott and stuff.
Like Gaster may potentially live and not yeet himself across time and space and get shattered by his time machine basically since there wouldn't be any RESETs possibly until Frisk falls anyways. (since no Flowey, since i don't think Asriel would have died) when the dreemurrs meet the other 6 kids and possibly adopt them all too, just like how they all adopt Chara in the original story.
Asriel grows up to be a proper Prince/potential King when Asgore passes away and Toriel(? from old age-
**Currently unsure if the monsters ever do leave the Underground while Chara is off in the pokemon world/PokeEarth since PTA never really focuses on the Undertale world after arceus takes Chara away and stuff, since PTA is entirely from Chara's POV for the most part-**
I assume they do- but maybe the 6 kids and Frisk never like- digest buttercups and basically kill themselves like Chara does and they do successfully find some other way to break the barrier just having all 7 kids be alive and stuff- idek.
But ye-
Then while thinking this, I of course made myself sad as hell kinda cuz I adore the dreemurr family and Chara and Asriels friendship and stuff and i'm kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinda sad my chara never has that bond??
But at the same time I also kinda just think Chara is also better off with her Pokemon family and Arceus cuz she also gets to live for basically millions of years due to Dialga (and i guess Celebi) constantly rewinding Chara's time to keep her from dying of old age or whatever
and also potentially has a better support too in Arceus for her troubles and potential abuse from the humans of her village (just based on all the hints in Undertale/implications she was abused idk)
and- ye. then I got inspired to make this.
You can take this drawing and think of it for either POV(? idk.
but ye. it was mostly just for funsies and i hope you like
------
For PokeTale: Ascendance
An AU based off of an RP between me and a friend of mine from my discord server discord.gg/pQf9ZsdF6E where the Creation Trio as babies (a time they all cant really fully control their powers and junk) accidentally create a portal into the Undertale Universe and meet Chara and basically Arceus finds Chara and adopts her after finding out about her shitty human parents and Chara ends up helping Arceus raise the babies and basically lives in the Pokemon Universe now
Desperate Dad Asgore
Just some headcanons in an au of undertale
Desperate Dad Asgore... whose heart breaks when a small child finds their way into his throne room, so small and bruised and bloodied from a journey through the Underground.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who cannot raise his trident to the little human, instead finds himself retrieving a medical kit, setting the tiny child onto his throne with a cup of tea the size of their head so he can tend to their wounds.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who jokes with them, commenting on how lovely their ribbon looks, finds himself thankful to find no dust on them. But they're dirty. Clothes damp from the snow and water, pants singed, and sweat sticking to their body as they look so tired.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who could never get rid of Chara and Asriel's old clothes, so he offers the child a night so sleep and some clothes.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who struggles to compose himself when the child comes out from a bath adorned in the green and yellow striped sweater. He admits he teared up quite a lot, the child's short brown hair only kick starting his memory of Chara shyly exploring the kingdom home.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who cares for the child to the best of his ability, goes overboard with his worrying. He baby-proofs his house, is ever so careful of what he cooks, and especially never allows the child alone with his buttercup garden.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who keeps the child secret from his own people, assuring that their soul has been secured and the child killed.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who raises the child alone, until another falls only a few months later, a sibling to the original, adorning boxing gear, a slight dust coating their body. The older sibling only breaks down into tears when they see their little sibling, alive and okay. All the monsters had been talking about how they were 'another human! The second soul! We'll be free if I can just kill you!'
Desperate Dad Asgore... who doesn't know how to feel when the older child sobs out about how they killed an innocent monster who said they tried to kill the cyan soul. How they couldn't move after the situation, felt so horrible, and didn't mean to! They just got so, so angry and they punched and then the monster just... disintegrated.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who decides to talk the child down, assuring them that they're okay, they are just a scared child in an unfamiliar situation and they didn't know what else to do. He won't admit how apprehensive he was when he considered taking in the child.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who ultimately decides yes, he will take in this child. He won't let them separate from their sibling, nor kill another monster to leave the underground.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who slowly grows more content when more children fall, the sixth child falling by the time the first two humans are middle age, the castle remodeled for more housing as he took in the children.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who equally shared his attention with all of his children, until the orange-souled child passes from old age, and the whole family mourns horribly from the loss.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who gets found out after, and his people are furious, and he breaks down, struggling to choose between his people under the rule that had put their whole and unwavering trust in him or his family that he had built from shattered remains that he had spent decades protecting and nurturing.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who steels himself and calls his people to hear a public announcement. It develops into a slideshow as he shows the decades spent cooking, laughing, raising, and showing how amazing his kids and he was. He relents how wrong he was to declare a human hunt decree, how wrong he was to with death upon these wonderful, beautiful children when he knew they were innocent and that the humans who had murdered Asriel were long gone, and the humans that had sealed them underground were nothing but particles now, any and all memories of them forgotten entirely and the only way they survived was from the legend of the great war.
Desperate Dad Asgore... who pleads with his people to leave his children untouched, who even brings up the fact his oldest child' had passed and even promised their soul to free monster kind. He pleads to let time play out, no matter how morbid the idea is, no matter how horrible it will be to watch his children die in front of him, but letting them age out would be much easier than letting his children spill their own blood all in that day. His youngest was three for his own sake! Three years old!
Not me vagueing about a shitty meta I saw...
Sooo, yeah. Saw a post implying that it was Toriel’s fault for a) adopting a human, b) allowing said human to die, c) leaving Asgore d) ‘manipulating’ several humans into staying with her in her home and e) allowing those humans to stay in her home and thus letting them get killed.
The last two points are a bit... well, we don’t have much info canonically about the six souls just in general, so I can’t say how long they stayed with her, how willingly they stayed, if they snuck out of fought her, etc. So I won’t spend too much time one that. But do you want her keeping those humans safe from the rest of the Underground or not, make up your mind...
Anyways. I feel like, while sometimes I see Toriel criticism that’s fair, other times I see it, and I can’t help but think... Asgore was an adult too, y’know.
If Asgore didn’t want to adopt Chara, he could’ve put his foot down and said ‘no’. But analysis shows Chara was probably his favorite child. They shared a hobby of gardening, he saw them as the ‘future of humans and monsters’, he kept their sweater and grew their favorite flowers. Having experienced the symptoms of buttercup poisoning firsthand and being the local botany expert, one could blame him for not recognizing Chara’s symptoms, or for not keeping the poisonous plants in his garden out of the kids’ reach. It’s made pretty explicit in his fight and in Neutral endings that Asgore really, really, REALLY didn’t want war: again, he could have put his foot down and said ‘No more souls. No more war. We’re trying a peaceful route again,’ he’s the fucking KING.
Toriel is not Asgore’s caretaker. She’s not his therapist, nurse, conscience or mother. Asgore is a big boy who can make his own choices. He and Toriel just happened to make some really bad ones, while trying to do their ideas of ‘the right thing’ and while hurt by the same damn trauma.
I... am actually not as pissed at this as I might have usually been, probably because I’ve already addressed why I think Toriel didn’t try stopping Asgore until the True Pacifist route and what Toriel meant by telling Asgore he could have crossed the Barrier with one soul. But yeah, I just wanted to get this one thing out of my system, that Asgore can make his own goddamn choices about right and wrong. Toriel didn’t force him to dirty his snowy-white toebeans with blood, if she chose to ‘abandon her people’ then he chose to ‘kill six innocents’. They were both undergoing emotionally turbulent events, they both chose to isolate themselves, they both lacked ‘voices of reason’, they were both trying to follow what they felt was ‘right’ at the expense of their mental health, they were both in very dark places for a very long time.
They’re really more alike than different, and that’s the tragedy of it all. And the point is that it IS a tragedy, not that one was good and lovable and the other was evil and awful.
