I just got Shinon for the first time in this file. 🤣
#DCB RD Run#the story behind this is that I played PoR for a friend on stream but the Wii stopped working#it's not dead but it has a hardware problem that I have yet to determine. however I had a backup Wii#so I tried that. unfortunately it ALSO decided to have a problem and wouldn't risk discs anymore#this meant I couldn't play RD on console and had to use an emulator instead#meaning I couldn't carry the data over from my latest PoR file if I had to use an emulator to play RD for said friend#so I decided I'd do a bit of a cheat run where I just flew through PoR on an emulator#levelling people up quicker and just going through it chapter by chapter to retain the supports I had#this was the US version on emulator... and the cheats randomly stopped working correctly around chapter ten#at this point I was very fed up and I knew the EU version on emulator did keep my cheats and everything was fine there#so I decided after all the technical trouble that I was going to aggressively promote every. single. unit. in PoR. with infinite BEXP#and I was going to get them ALL to level 20 so they would ALL get stat bonuses carried over#I was originally just leaving the natural stats - what ppl got from the natural level ups is what I'd carry over#after all that I was like I deserve this it's been hell working this out. but then I had an additional idea#I decided that since I found a code for infinite usage of items that I'd bump up anyone who was#a point or two off from a stat cap for all stats like that so I did that. but THEEEEN I thought of ANOTHER thing#I was like... you know WHAT. after all this? I deserve one more thing#I stat capped ALL of Shinon and Oscar's stats knowing full well they are my absolute best MONSTERS in RD /anyway/#I used other cheats to get through the game very very very speedily to hurry to just get the cheat file done with#but toward the end I finally snapped and handed out stat boosters to those two until they were demons LOL#and uhhh... yeah Shinon took it pretty fucking well!!!

remembering this video i watched about the history of Mario 3 that ended with sentimental music and text saying "Shigeru Miyamoto is considered one of the greatest game designers of all time"
Tumblr media
#how can you say that in a video about MARIO 3 OF ALL GAMES. TEZUKA'S BABY#there was another one that credited him with Ocarina of Time's themes#like he hasnt spent the last 20 years explicitly denouncing the idea of themes and stories in games and the standards OoT set for Zelda#god#ok it's time for the Miyamoto Rant#he's the grandfather of modern video games#but he's a drunk barely functional grandfather whose primary contribution was conceiving the infant#he's been taking credit for other people's work the moment he got promoted#his actual game design looks like donkey kong arcade zelda 1 color splash star fox zero#even in mario the actual physics and interactions that made the game what it was were created by several different devs...#he never Richard Garriot'ed any of “his” games and wasnt even a proper dev on the real groundbreakers like Mario 3 and World#he hasnt gotten his hands dirty since the early famicom days with primitive games like Mario and Zelda 1#absolutely he played a vital role in the history of the medium#directing the projects that spearheaded the transition from tablegame-like repetitive rounds to more art-like full experiences#but he wasnt responsible for the later masterpieces people tend to credit him for. Mario 3. World. 64. Star Fox. OoT. Pikmin. and so on#in fact he often actively hindered projects and caused them to drag. It didnt start with color splash. See the history of World and 64#I'd call him Japan's Peter Molyneux but honestly he's closer to George Lucas. His underlings often ended up actively working AGAINST him#anyways.... there's my rant about the cult of Shiggy M#he finally had his free reign influence neutered after his Wii U era travesties... better late than never#next time on Video Game Myths.... Eiji Aonuma is an illustrator who has never written a line of code in his life#Masahiro Sakurai's game design youtube channel is an attempt to restore his reputation#after his last projects earned him universal praise from investors as a producer but destroyed his reputation as a game designer#Reggie Fils-Aime's post retirement attempts to wash his hands of the failures that transpired under his leadership and cement his legacy#and how Satoru Iwata was personally responsible for the company's early 2010s crisis through dishonest and anticonsumer business philosophy#(and how he spent the rest of his life attempting to right his wrongs and lead the company back into alignment with Yamachi's vision RIP)#as for Yamachi himself....#I think the fact that he kept the company free of yakuza influence in the era that they OWNED the industry is testament to his principles.#Yamachi is the one Nintendo exec name i respect#also shoutouts to Kondo the one guy at nintendo who ACTUALLY personally creates the things he's credited with

Odd question but fav piece of media?
Games, movies, tv shows, whatever
Not odd at all!
Hmm… I often find it hard to pinpoint my all time favourite of anything cuz I like a lot of stuff and I tend to forget anything I’m not playing/watching right this moment, but I will have a good think and try my best!
Games:
- Ōkami
Tumblr media
I have replayed this all the way through at least 5 or 7 times I’m sure, both on Wii and the HD port on switch. (And it is a pretty long game!) I love the story, I love the artstyle and characters, I love running around as a wolf(!!!), the main mechanic itself of painting symbols is just really cool. Its just good and fun and has lots of silly/funny and a few make-me-cry moments in there too.
- Petz 4 & 5 (Catz/Dogz 4/5) (PC)
Tumblr media
See also, I found a high quality scan of the instruction manual here (so cute…). (And that blog appears to have resources to download the games if you don’t have the original disc!)
Ok this is kinda a weird one, and I haven’t played it in a while, but when I was growing up I was so invested in this little game and especially once I found the community online for it.
You could breed the petz for basically infinite combinations of new colours and patterns, physical features, and people would do huge projects to make petz that looked cool and then put them for “adoption” on their personal website and email the file to you if you “adopted” one (I still have one of these from like, ten years ago I think, somewhere).
There was also “hexing” where you could go in to the file using a hex editor and mess with the code to modify the original breedfiles of the default breedz that came with the game, and people were making anything you could think of. Dragons, gryphons, wolves, leopards, or even just very prettily made catz/dogz to resemble real life equivalents (or fantasy sparkledogs/cats!!!💖).
Eventually someone even made a program where you visually see a representation of the pet as you were editing it rather than just like, edit this number, save, reopen the game to see what you did haha. (I definitely played with both methods of “hexing” but didn’t really end up making anything substantially complicated myself, usually just changed eye/fur colours to get like cool fantasy colours 😂) So that was really cool!!! And of course people also did it for clothes, toys (toyz?), food… basically this was like for me, baby’s first introduction to mods/modding I guess? Haha!
Anyway it just has a very special place in my heart even though I don’t play it much anymore, and I haven’t personally seen many games come close to what it had. Flightrising is somewhat close in terms of variety with breeding the dragons, but they are all still just illustrations you can’t “play with” since it is a petsite, not a game (I enjoyed that tho…I gotta remember to check back there sometime lol).
Ok, this has already gotten quite long so I might go think about movies/TV shows/other media separately and then maybe come back and add more later?… (maybe in a reblog or something?) I think I emptied my brain when I started thinking about petz 5 there dfjgk

Okay it’s 4am and I bring you: Ninjago gamer hcs (in order of who plays the most)
Jay is the gamer. That’s what he spends most of his time doing. He prefers older games for the nostalgia and has a massive collection. He also is just really into computers and consoles and knows so many unnecessary things about computing history and what pc has the best performance and what not. Yknow he’s probably a twitch streamer. And he just generally loves all kinds of games, arcade, console, computer, mobile. And he’s played all of them. He’s also probably tried his hand at coding games but he’ll start a project and never finish it (yknow like everyone ever). Jay also probably makes let’s plays and game reviews lol.
Cole is almost as diverse in his game tastes as Jay but he gets rlly into specifically rp games, and will ramble on about the plot of a game to anyone listening. He’s usually Jay’s player 2 in any co op game, and can become quite competitive (there’s like two instances of Cole being someone who beats other people’s high scores - even though one of those times was a prank by Lloyd). He’s actually got better hand eye coordination than Jay but Jay has more knowledge on game mechanics.
Pixal usually plays borg games (because yes of course Cyrus borg makes games). Regardless of what genre it is, she supports her dad. Although her favourites are racing games bc zooom. I think she’d enjoy rpgs as well idk. She got into gaming as a way to have alone time, and isn’t a huge fan of co op with the ninja because they’re really loud lol. But she can be player 3 sometimes.
Lloyd plays whatever is new trendy and “soon to be considered cringe” (not to say they are cringe but just to address the games that other ppl tend to describe as cringe). So he was big into minecraft and Fortnite (or the Ninjago versions of those) when it was popular. I can see him being in to first person shooters just because a lot of people play those. Oh and Nintendo esque games. Like we all know he kinned link from any Zelda ever. I think he’s also a fan of sonic tbh (jay too). Oh but Lloyd scarcely ever plays older games. He only really plays games that have just come out and as soon as a new game comes out he’s abandoned the old one forever.
Zane doesn’t play games all that often (honestly he enjoys board games more) but he does enjoy incredibly hard or thought provoking games. He’s a rhythm game king and is scary good. He’s also a mobile gamer on top of that. Unlike Cole, Zane can’t really get into rpgs especially if the graphics are kinda old school. Also he usually gets high scores so beating him is usually seen as a great triumph. Also everyone on the team is prone get frustrated at losing games but Zane isn’t really a sore loser because he never loses. But on the off chance that he does struggle with a game and loses, he’ll sigh and lie down on the sofa and idk refuse to make dinner. He’ll sulk the longest out of anyone and it’s fair because RHYTHM GAMES ARE SO PERSONAL OKAYYY
Nya doesnt really like video games. But she’ll play them to make jay happy because she likes seeing him game. But mostly she’ll just watch and offer random commentary. However she love love loves the dance game at the arcade because romance and also she likes being active (maybe she’d like a wii sports lol). She’s got a soft spot for the arcade but that’s about it.
Kai only likes a select handful of games and it’s usually brawl streetfighter games that specifically came out when he was a kid, and it’s mostly because he was good at them. He used to like them a lot more but grew out of it. He just doesn’t understand how complicated newer games are, and barely remembers how they work anyways. He’s like and old man who just watches Lloyd gush about the new game he got for his birthday with barely any idea of what’s going on. He’s more of jock so.
Wu does not game it hurts his eyes. I’d say he’d like chess but I think wu would absolutely despise chess (and it’s because both Garmadon and Misako are chess pros and wu doesn’t even remember the names of the pieces)
Bonus: all the ninja love (hate) mariokart and it is chaos. Cole spends 30 minutes picking a character, Lloyd can only be green characters because he relates to them, Kai is screaming because he keeps falling off the map, jay is screaming because he just screams during games, Nya doesn’t even play properly she drives around backwards on the map, Zane will get blue shelled and Pixal will win and Zane’s just holding back tears repeating “I love my gf” over and over. And Wu will unplug the tv because he wants to go to bed.

What up's it's Bark Bark Bark?!
What's your favorite AUs tropes and TD 3 fanfics?!
Also ummmmmm I love Jater for being brave and loud, I wish could be that brave, you know?!
(I actually like Jo somewhat but sometimes I am like bark bark bark bark bark bark bark treat my son Brick better than that or I am fight you if I could! Brick my son deserves better I don't he in the army, he needs me to protect him and his soul!)
I love when some people loud and clear, I am like there with Wii music in my head like giggling myself thinking I have no idea what going on but they so loud and just nodding along but not really listening! But I am like damn braver than the marines. If you yell me or snap your fingers, I am do what is told! (It's Brick coded traits in my soul I guess?!)
Mean yelling women scare me but I am doing what is told that's why Leshawna and Courtney on top of my heart!
Leshawna can just glare at me to shut up and my ass is quiet following her like a puppy dog!
Courtney I am like what you want ha-ha!
I think it's because my mom train me to respond to yelling or snaps or trigger words like dog/ her personal soldier!
Anyway, I love you and all these TD characters as well as the fandom!

Some thoughts about Nintendo Switch Online retro games since last time
This is essentially going to be not much of a post but I guess I could talk about a few things about its future since with all the updates that we got since last time.
We'll talk about UI code, Pokémon, NES, Fire Emblem and N64.
UI code upgrade
Literally the next day since my last post about it, on March 16th, Nintendo added new NES, SNES and GB titles. Under the hood, they did do a massive change to the user interface programming, bringing pretty much every NSO app to the latest user interface codebase that GB and GBA NSO had.
That said it brings absolutely no visible changes, NERD has just made sure to bring everything up-to-date. This is just more stable and probably easier to program and manage UI code.
Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2
On April 12th, Nintendo released Pokémon Stadium to NSO + Expansion Pack, and with no Transfer Pak support.
Of course, what did I even expect since there's no old mainline Pokémon titles yet (if ever?).
My opinion about Pokémon on NSO is that it will get stuck to only spinoffs. My worst case realistic scenario (aside from no rerelease) is Pokémon Company selling the old gens at $15 piecemeal (yes, $5 more than on 3DS Virtual Console).
Personally I expect Pokémon Company to be very strict about Pokémon management, and those games are highly abusable with glitches, honestly and are kind of region locked, too to some extent especially between japanese and international players, but they still bothered to rerelease them and supporting them with a way to transfer your Pokémons out of the games. It's also abusable if you supported the Transfer Pak in Pokémon Stadium titles since they also work like extra boxes for your Pokémons and those support save states, which was explicitly removed out of the 3DS Virtual Console release...
They did also release Pokémon Stadium 2 this week, also without Transfer Pak support.
I did look at the emulator really quick and did find that they added new functions for Lua script hacking for the games, and it does kinda look like they rebuilt the entire thing from a new version at least.
I'll speak more about N64 emulation later.
Mystery Tower
Fast forwarding a bit, on June 6th, Nintendo added more NES, SNES and GB titles. One of them was Mystery Tower by Namco.
This bothered me, because I knew what this game was, but the title did absolutely not sound right. Turns out this title is actually brand new, they had this title in their collection, the original title was "BABEL" which is interesting since this means it is a first case of title change hacks on NSO. That said I did eventually find out that Japan also had a title change to "The Tower of Babel", which was also done in collections, but also the Wii U Virtual Console release!
Anyway please try this puzzle game, just keep in mind the direction and how you can turn around stuff based on how you face it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fire Emblem
On June 23rd, Nintendo released Fire Emblem for the GBA NSO app. But Japan also had Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, the actual first GBA Fire Emblem title, as we only started to get these games since the second GBA title.
I'll refer to them as FE6 (The Binding Blade) and FE7 (Fire Emblem) from now on.
This update was interesting for a couple reasons.
Tumblr media
It just so happens that the japanese version of FE7 can link to FE6's completed save files to unlock a couple things in the game.
So now, when you go into multiplayer, after the first player selects FE7, the second player is allowed to select either FE7, or FE6 for "Link Cleared Save Data" (official english text). Another player can simply share their save files to another player.
This also means that the GBA app now has the ability to load different games for each player depending on the choice of the first player who serves as the host.
Tumblr media
(This screenshot is me messing around with the functionality.)
However this is not the only noteworthy thing to happen, because it wouldn't feel fair for a single player to not being able to transfer their own FE6 saves to FE7. Well, they did actually implement a hack for single player too!
They actually reimplemented the linking process inside the emulator just to avoid emulating a second GBA for it, and it would seamlessly transfer the save data just fine.
If you're wondering about what it unlocks, a quick read made me figure out that it skips Lyn's story, and add new scenes to the epilogue and other small additions as well. Those new epilogue scenes are available in the US version by default, but not in the EU versions for some reason. They can also be accessed in the JP version without a save transfer by finishing the game 9 to 11 times (what the heck).
This functionality working as it is really cool, honestly, and it makes a process less painful to do like it was back then, and it did make me feel confident in the transfer of data between games like with Golden Sun & Golden Sun: The Lost Age or the Zelda Oracle games... speaking of...
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons
Those two games ended up randomly coming at the end of July this year. They are known for being two parts of a fuller story if you link each of them from whatever order you start them with.
And that's where my disappointment came in to remind me of the terrible reality that is Nintendo Switch Online.
It is doable for two players to share their save files to each other through multiplayer, but if you wanna do the games yourself on your own in single player, you'll have to input the password you get from the other game.
That is kinda sad considering it's the first player who selects the save file from the other player, it could have been very easy to setup in a way that's easy to use without needing to implement any specific user interface, but that didn't quite happen.
I hope they'll bother for Golden Sun considering the tiers of password this game can have with Golden Sun: The Lost Age, but I am starting to think if the game does offer a way to transfer without needing any additional work, they wouldn't do it. In the case of Fire Emblem, this way of save transfer was the only way to do it.
I did not mention much about this, but Oracle of Ages/Seasons are also known for having exclusive content if you play those games on a Game Boy Advance. After looking into it though, it does not seem like we're missing much, but it's kinda sad that they're not really in their most definitive way to play them.
Pokémon Trading Card Game
Two weeks after those last two games, Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Stadium 2 were released.
The cool thing about this game, is that they emulated the infrared communications.
Tumblr media
At least, Card Pop does work, for sure, which does require emulation of the IR communcation... or does it?
Upon a quick inspection of the emulator code, I found out that the emulator does indeed patch the game ROM's functions, and thanks to the disassembled Pokémon Trading Card Game offering me a lot of information, I found out that they absolutely don't emulate the IR communications at all and outright replace the IR functions to point to a invalid 0xDD opcode (opcodes are small commands that CPU executes)... which probably points to a function in the emulator to specifically manage this. Ain't that funny? In any case though, they do at least let all IR communications work just fine, and that's what matters.
(For the nerds who wants to look this up, the emulator keeps SHA1 hashes of the ROM you can easily search for, then points to a struct of 100 bytes original to compare, 100 bytes to patch, address, size, and something else I don't get.)
I ended up looking this up as someone pointed me to this video:
youtube
It turns out in the original game, one of the cards, the Phantom Venusaur, is impossible to obtain due to a mistake in the calculations of the odds, on which this video explains very well in detail.
This is the reason that motivated me to look at how the emulator might patch the game, and see if they fixed this issue: They did not fix this problem, I see no patch for any of the relevant code for this.
So, NERD, if you're reading this, look at 06:5D92, you can definitely fix this in one way or another.
N64 emulation
So... the Pokémon Stadium 2 release at least updated the emulator in some way, because they added new functions for the Lua scripting for N64 game hacks, and some of the UI engine stuff got shuffled around.
Then I tried some of the games, to see if some things got fixed:
F-Zero X did NOT get its framerate drop fixed.
Goldeneye's Dam level has texture tiling fixed. Interesting.
Since I noticed this last thing, it was pointed to Graslu00 who knows the game in and out and already compared the emulation of the game on NSO and Xbox... to a disappointing degree.
Here's his thread about the fixes... or rather the lack of: https://twitter.com/Graslu00/status/1688994099477528576
The update did also some additional fixes to Pokémon Stadium 1, though I don't really know much about it other than it relates to rendering and soft reset in some way.
Unfortunately the N64 emulator is still not up to snuff, but I think the most annoying thing is still the controls. The default controls suck, let us change them in the emulator, per game! Offer also better stick emulation!
It still pains me to rely on the Switch OS remap feature, it's not good for this, it messes too much with some of the macros, it sucks!
It annoys me when I see the text "Change Control Method" in the emulator files too, you guys clearly thought about it! Why isn't it a feature after months with nothing?
Future releases
There's still a couple N64 games left that were explicitly announced for 2023, such as 1080° Snowboarding, Excitebike 64 and Mario Party 3.
That said Japan also had plans for release of Harvest Moon 64 (which I see no reason why we can't get it now that Harvest Moon SNES got released since), but also Goldeneye 007, on which Japan has it on the highest age rating (CERO Z).
Considering how the plans are going and how lazy everything is (sorry devs, I'm sure you guys know already, but most of the results of this just don't impress me and don't fill me with confidence aside from GB/GBA somehow), I just think N64 NSO will randomly get a 18+ rating and put every N64 game under parental control bullshit out of nowhere with no warning for Japan.
Also, where's the alternate languages for NES and SNES games?

Wii shop theme
This might be one of the most evil songs ever created. You may be wondering why I would say this about an instrumental track for a video game store, but that’s because you haven’t deciphered the coded acronym of the song title like I have.
W stands for World Trade Center, with the two Is that follow representing the Twin Towers. This ties the Wii Shop to 9/11.
S is the first letter of “shop.” But you know what else starts with S? Scientology! And who is mentioned in Scientology? Xenu!
H stands for “Holocaust” of course, which brings the Nazis into this.
O stands for “Original creator of the white race, Yakub.” Of course he’d be behind this devilish trickery.
P stands for “President Obama,” because of course it does.
The “The” in Theme stands for “The Government.”
And then there’s the “Me,” which stands for “Malevolent extraterrestrials,” which of course means the reptilians.
And so it should be obvious that this means Xenu, Tom Cruise, Yakub, Obama, the government, the Nazis, and the reptilians founded the Wii Shop to fund 9/11!!! It’s the only thing that makes any sense!!!!!!! Wake up, sheeple!
Anyway, pretty good song. 3/5.

AVCon Day 1 2023 Report
Tumblr media
I had the opportunity to go to AVCon this year, a convention in Adelaide that made its return this year! It was my first ever anime convention, and it was a whole load of fun!
I went with Pie @piedivide, a good friend of mine! He cosplayed 9S, you’ll see him throughout the report hehe ^^
The report is under the cut!
Since I was going to a convention, I thought I should cosplay! When else would I have the chance to after all?
There were so many characters I wanted to cosplay, but at the end I chose…..
Tumblr media
Bocchi-Chan from Bocchi The Rock!
Here is my beautiful pose I did because I couldn’t think of any other pose lol
Her wig was an absolute nightmare though, it was always so tangled even when I brushed it out, I’m definitely going for a character with shorter hair next time.
Exhibit A:
Tumblr media
See that mess lol
But regardless, let’s actually get into it!
Pre-Con
I got my butt up at 6am in order to get ready, since I wanted to get to the convention around 10am (spoiler alert I did not manage to get there by 10am).
I tied my hair back here because I was worried about sitting on the wig and pulling it off, but honestly I probably didn’t need to lol
Since the convention is in the city, I had to catch the train.
In full cosplay.
It didn’t help I forgot the timetables change on the weekends so I had to wait like 30 minutes at the station for the train to come with my mum lol
People were staring which was understandable, I was Bocchi after all with her bright pink hair and colourful costume lol
Lucky for me, there was a Yuyuka cosplayer and a few others also in cosplay so I felt less embarrassed.
The Yuyuka cosplayer actually sat behind me on the train!
Once I got to the station, I went straight to the bathroom to brush out my wig because it was a hot mess.
Tumblr media
Still was a hot mess here actually lol
Con Time!
I met with Pie after my attempts of fixing the wig and we headed to the convention! So we got there like after 11am!
Tumblr media
There was a okay line and we waited, and of course me being me, instantly started freaking out about all the cosplayers and pointing out who was who lol
Like right when we got to the line, I saw a Kagamine Rin cosplayer and I freaked out lol
There was a very pretty Mona too and I freaked out again lol
I did a lot of freaking out okay. That’s just how I am. You can’t expect me to stay calm at an anime convention! That’s like…impossible.
We were holding our phones with the QR code for our tickets and it was hard to believe we were here.
Pie and I sort of spontaneously decided to go like 8 months ago and I never thought the day would finally come. As we got closer and closer, it became more and more real.
Once we got in, we got our passes and we headed straight into the food hall (only because we had no idea where was what and we couldn’t be bothered getting out the map so it was a fun adventure lol).
I'm so glad we got passes! I thought we would get the paper tag but no! Real passes! Felt so cool!
Continuing straight, we arrived into the Video Games Hall, which had a giant stage and a lot of laptops! And right on the side was….handhelds?!
Whole bunch of games and consoles for sale, ranging from the N64 to the Wii! PlayStation 1! 3DS! DS! I was surprised, I didn’t think that I’d see any Wii games at the convention.
My hard drive I use with my Wii actually stopped working so I’ve been buying physicals of the games I really like ;;
And lo and behold, they had Mario Kart Wii. The one game I’ve been looking for since like….2021? Now I can play CTGP and mods!!
Instantly bought it along with Wii Sports Resort because I love Wii Sports Resort. Been wanting to play it.
And it was right there and I couldn’t resist okay
Already managed to spend money and I just got there lmao
Tumblr media
It is what it is.
Anyway, we continued through the hall, admiring all the games. It was just all so cool! I saw Street Fighter 6 and went :O
There was also a giant Game and Watch System!
Tumblr media
I was mostly in awe the whole time. I also continued my freaking out lol
Then we exited to the Artist Alley. The holy grail of art. There were over 90 artists there.
Hoo boy I dropped money here lmao
We beelined to Kamaniki’s booth (I freaked when I saw their name on the map lol), but also taking the time to walk and see all the art! Everyone is so talented, it’s incredible!
We found Kamaniki’s booth and we each bought two prints. I got Pyra and a Bocchi the Rock one!
Pie and I decided that we had to buy a print with our respective characters on it, and we did! Pie got a Nier Automata one that had 9S on it.
We then continued our trek, and then I bought more prints because I couldn't resist lol
We then went to the Exhibition Hall which was full of anime merch! There were stalls everywhere.
We saw Callie and Marie plushies and guess what we did….
Tumblr media
We bought them instantly lol
I got Callie and Pie got Marie!
Then we walked around some more and oh my god they had Hololive gacha. Volume 4 and 5. I made this screech and Pie laughed his head off lmao
I love Hololive okay
I thought we needed coins for it (which I did not have) but we had to buy tokens (which I could with the power of my card). I bought two rolls and did each Hololive gacha!
I tried to predict who I would get but I was very wrong haha, but I didn’t mind who I got. I like everyone in Hololive!
I got Lui and Marine! Love them so much.
Pie did a Spy X Family one and a Hololive one too. He actually nearly did the wrong gacha until I yelled at him not to lol (you’re welcome Pie lol).
I saw a stall that was operated by my Uni (they’re a sponsor) and it made me think about the fact I had Uni the next week ;;
Then we walked around some more! It was so cool seeing so much merch in one place! Had to resist buying stuff, I already spent quite a bit at this point aha
After we decided to go get some food because we were hungry.
We wanted to try Takoyaki but they ran out, all they had left was Karaage Chicken. It was really good!
We had to wait for like…20 minutes for it which was fun. I was 47th and they only announced like...30…..
Tumblr media
Us waiting lol
Someone actually came up to me asking for a photo during that time and I was really happy!
Never thought I’d get asked for any photos honestly. It made me so happy! Pie got asked for photos too, it was so cool!
Actually someone came up to Pie and said “Hey I really like your 2B costume!” which was really hilarious lmao
Of course Pie was kind and stuff and said thank you but still lol
And Pie also asked for photos as well!
Tumblr media
Love the poses here hehe
I had the bright idea to torture myself by using chopsticks. I know how to use them, but I’m absolutely crap at using them.
I also had a fork so I could give up at any time. Like halfway through, I decided to just use my fork. I reached out to grab it, thinking I would be saving myself all the struggle.
But tragedy struck.
Tumblr media
I DROPPED THE FORK ON THE GROUND 😭
I was forced to use the chopsticks the whole time and Pie just watched me suffer
I’m a chopsticks failure……
After I finally finished, we went to get some photos together! For this occasion, I bought a tripod! It came in handy!
We took a lot of photos!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the ones I like (I would put them all but no space sadly, Tumblr limit ;;)
My eyes also decided to kill themselves half way through and I had to retreat to the bathroom. I looked like I was crying when I wasn’t ;;
My eyes like to do this thing where if something irritates it, it starts tearing up immediately. It’s very fun (T_T)
I think it was after this, I saw a Mizuki from Arknights cosplayer. Didn’t expect to see Mizuki here but I freaked out of course lol
I love Mizuki.
And I really wanted a photo. But I was too shy to ask.
So Pie did for me (thank you Pieeeee)
Tumblr media
ME AND MIZUKI AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaa
Namie-mama I did it!! They were so kind!
Then we just walked around for the rest of the con pretty much, though all the halls. Bought some more prints and simply enjoyed our time!
When it was nearly the end of the con, we decided to buy each other one print that the other would like. We split off, and I went bounding down the left side of the Artist Alley.
I didn't even go that far when I saw the perfect print. It was a beautiful BOTW print with Link riding a horse. It screamed Pie so I bought it immediately.
The artist even offered another print for another $10 but I declined because we were only meant to get one print for each other.
So I sat and waited at the area we agreed to meet at since I already found the perfect print quicker than I anticipated.
Tumblr media
Picture I took while waiting.
More people asked me for photos actually to my surprise, there was this little kid who wanted a photo with me and it was so adorable. Made my heart warm hehe ( ◠‿◠ )
Tumblr media
Like so! I heard "Bocchi" from behind me and I'm like "Huh??" “That’s me!”
I honestly wished I got more pictures with cosplayers, I was too shy to ask like anyone lol, next time I really want to ask people! Got to be more confident!
But I did admire them from afar! Staring a bit creepily but that’s definitely what Bocchi would do lol
There were these Genshin cosplayers that looked amazing, especially this Yaoyao and this Arlecchino and Columbina!!
And I saw Mew Ichigo too!! Apparently they made their cosplay themselves which is sick.
I didn’t take that many pictures of the convention itself, since I was mostly just experiencing everything, taking it all in. Next time I want to take more!
And make a vlog too!
Definitely want to go to another convention again! And spend way too much money (I refuse to look at my bank account, I don't want to know how much I spent lol).
Thanks for reading my report! ^^

Over the Borderline and Over the Rainbow Road
Salutations! I hope this post finds you well. (One of my pet peeves is the hope this email finds you well thing. Not sure why, but probably just a dumb quirk of mine! Let me know in comments or message some of your worst pet peeves!)
I want to thank our new friend thepokecutie for coming aboard! You're early; not wrong! So grab a controller and your antidepressant of choice, and get ready for this thing to take off!
I have seen some other "likes" over the days, and while I want to say thank you for those, I also encourage you to click the Follow button and become a "follower" (another pet peeve term I hate; I prefer to think of us as friends...with benefits, depending on what cocktail - pun intended - of meds we're on!)
So today, I feel like talking about an aspect or two of BPD, and I'm playing Mario Kart 64 while pondering over this. I have a shameful confession to make: I have not yet played Mario Kart 8, even though I do have it now, thanks to your generous tips. I love all your tips, big and small, though I gotta admit I prefer them big! Anyway, I plan to play MK8 soon, and I invite you to friend me on Switch as well so perhaps we can run some races together! Maybe we can even race the old rainbow road course from N64!
SW - 4419 - 5159 - 3401 is my friend code.
I haven't played any Mario Kart since Wii because that game was just boring and formulaic. Too many blue shells made each race rather predictable and felt more like a demo than an actual game, if that makes sense.
So a major reason why living BPD sucks is because of the fall-out from impulsive behavior and compulsive lying. Many such behaviors got me fired from lots of jobs, including professional ones, and almost cost me my marriage and access to my kids (I often can't believe it hasn't!) as well as almost getting me arrested on several occasions (again, I can't believe it didn't). I have lied, cheated, stole, and lived overall passive aggressive, especially loving covert revenge against people I PERCEIVE are against me. Cost myself many potential good friendships and relationships. Very typical to push others away and self sabotage before I could be rejected by others.
I can get into more specifics down the road, but I would love to hear from you and some of your struggles with mental health in general and BPD if you have it as well. Or maybe you think you just got it all together?? I want to be friends with you too! Especially if you're rich! So friend me, and I'll see you on the track!

...Also, I just binged a half a bottle of expired fiber gummies.

I apologise for the bother, as I know you must've answered this a million times, but I can't find your answer.
Are Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles canon? I don't have access to play them, so I needed to google. GameFAQs says paraphrased "Darkside Chronicles is a true canon retelling of the events of Claire and Leon ... RE2 Remake and RE2 are for gameplay purposes and not the actual canon as to what happens." and I'm howling because... wtf do you mean they're not canon?! Who wrote that? That's some acid trip delusion. But I'm still worried I may be missing some parts of OG timeline bc I can't play those specific games, including Code Veronica too. So I thought I'd ask for clarification.
LOL this fucking fandom oml
I get why someone would want that to be true; a lot of Leon and Claire's actions overlap in RE2 and RE2make, and it makes more sense to think of them as having been teamed up the entire time. But it also makes a lot of emotional beats make no sense, so it's like. Six of one, half dozen of another. Something gets screwy either way.
But it's bona fide delusional to think a Wii rail shooter is more canon than a mainline numbered entry.
But on the other hand...
Yes, you are missing out on canon by not having access to them. UC has a ton of extra content in it that's not in the other games (Wesker waking up and realizing he's a tyrant, Ada's escape from Raccoon City, a whole new Chris and Jill campaign). And DSC has the OG's version of Operation Javier.
The RE1, RE2, RE3, and CVX campaigns are not canon; they're just retellings. But everything else in those games is, and there's a lot there. But it's also for the OG timeline only.
Watch it on YouTube. Those games are miserable to play anyway.

More miscellaneous observations, mostly from Corruption.
Prime etc.
Since there may be Switch remasters of these games on the way, I’d like to clarify that this blog is not an accurate representation of how these games look on console.
Tumblr media
For one, I do bump up the resolution, which makes smaller details much clearer. (The base textures are unchanged, though I believe there’s a fanmade HD texture pack for Prime. Which admittedly could kind of use it.)
Tumblr media
I also often tweak the lighting in post - usually brightness/contrast, sometimes white balance. (On top of that, I turned down bloom by 10% on Corruption, because it’s a bit much.) This is about as much I would edit a photograph which I took of real life.
Finally... Keep in mind that these games were originally meant to be played on a component video output hooked up to a CRT, which (as you may or may not know from personal experience) is a very fuzzy experience.
That being said, all I’m doing is adding extra polish - Prime games look decent under any condition. (My actual play setup is trash...) So these remasters, provided they exist, have a lot to live up to.
Moving on.
Tumblr media
This is what it looks like inside the morph ball. So... now you know...?
Tumblr media
Activating two cutscenes at once means they play simultaneously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems Gliders were originally going to be used as platforms at some point. It is very difficult to get on top of one without noclip, but as you might hope, Samus can totally ride on them. Whee!
Tumblr media
There’s no issues with sliding off or anything, either - you’re clearly meant to be able to stand on top. (Wish the same was true for my sad attempts to boost onto Quadraxis’ flying head without stunning it first - water off a duck.)
Tumblr media
Apparently there’s even an unused scan image depicting this exact scenario, which more or less confirms it.
This applies to some midsize harmless flying enemies in the rest of the main trilogy as well, specifically the drones in Sanctuary and the cargo carriers in Skytown, both of which speedrunners ride to get out of bounds. Perhaps they’re using the same code...? Or maybe those are programmed like “crates that move” and the fact that they’re also flying platforms is a coincidence, who knows. It’s all platforms, always has been.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Different game entirely, but bear with me. These statues in front of Elun reminded me of this statue in Prime 1, specifically with the robes/armor. Might be a coincidence, though, especially since the main series basically ignores Prime.
Echoes
I love Echoes, but I don’t have much to say about it this time.
Tumblr media
Spoopy.
Tumblr media
The regular human corpses are about the same size as Samus, but when Ing-possessed they get... bigger. (Morph Ball is about half her height - when unmorphing, she comes up to the armpit.) So that’s weird and kind of gross to think about!
Corruption
The MPT version of Corruption seems to have significantly better load times than the Wii release, though it takes longer to boot up at the start.
Tumblr media
The Pirate Phazon storage that Dark Samus reconstitutes herself in during the opening cutscene (left - sorry for terrible angle, it’s hard to fight the cutscene camera) isn’t one of a kind. It’s the same room model as the Phazon storage/processing room that you pick up X-Ray Visor in much later (right).
...gonna chuck that one on the right in the queue, actually...
Tumblr media
It’s really impossible to overstate just how tiny humans* are in the Metroid universe, compared to almost every other species. Other humanoid species are generally at least as tall as Ghor. So if you’re looking for an in-universe explanation for all these conveniently morph-ball sized vents... Uh, I guess those are still pretty small for most species.
*or, in this case, Gandrayda badly impersonating a human - though she’s the exception, being about the same size as Samus anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised if they use the same model.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Gandrayda. This isn’t a new discovery, but I figure it’s worth mentioning that there’s some otherwise unreleased concept art in her body texture. Seems someone was using it to colorpick...
Tumblr media
Feeding my statuary addiction with these busts on Bryyo Fire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This save room in Skytown has a mysterious solar system model. My pet theory is that it’s home. Like, the lore on the nearby Cyrlic tree is that this Chozo tribe bioengineered it and brings it from place to place (you also see this exact species on Tallon IV). So maybe if that tree is from home, this model is depicting home? I don’t know.
There are a lot of assumptions there and an environment artist probably just stuck it there because it looks cool. Just kidding! This is approximately canon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While it seems odd that the HUD is a 3D element in the world, it does let it interact with lighting, like this orange glow. It’s subtle, but a nice touch.
...now that I know you can make it invisible I’m turning it off though... Invulnerability cheat doesn’t work in this game, so whatever happens happens I guess!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Quick look at the dying parasite queens in the Skytown Xenoresearch Facility elevator wall. Which is... You know. A completely normal place to store your dying specimens.
Tumblr media
If you’ve ever wondered where exactly in Samus’ body her Phazon growth is located, wonder no longer: it is located above whatever Leviathan seed she happens to be in! (In this case, Bryyo. Blue things on the walls.) Hope that helps. 😔
Tumblr media
In the drop cutscene, two Spire pods are loaded at the same time, though you’d never see them both with a normal angle.
Tumblr media
You might have to take my word for this, but the text in the biohazard scan is once again basically keysmashing. All homebar too, very classical. There’s one word on here, “extra”. And some numbers, 123123, @@@, etc.
Tumblr media
Finally. (deep sigh) Shoutouts to the artist at Retro who decided to give the Reptilicus about 6 polygons of lizard bulge. Maybe they can hang with the artist at Mercury Steam who kept giving a bunch of ZDR critters detailed bolas.

The history of my video capture woes
(This post was originally released exclusively via Patreon on May 23, 2019, and is now here as a test for long-form text content! This post also contains links to old archived videos from my YouTube channel. Most of these videos were made when I was of a young age, and do not reflect the current quality of my videos or any of my views and opinions today.)
Everyone probably has that one system that shaped their childhood or teenage years. My childhood systems are the Wii and DS, but the 3DS is probably the most important and influential system I've ever had so far, both to my teenage years and for my YouTube hobby.
Since I got my very first 3DS on July 11th, 2011 (I THINK that was the date), I've been being to make videos with it on my then barebones YouTube channel.
I've captured game footage before this though, and it was...bad. Holding a camera up to a TV looks and sounds substantially worse than sticking it in front of a 3DS screen and speakers.
Tumblr media
My first 3DS related video was released on July 14th, 2011 and was just the QR Code of my Mii and my friend code. My Mii has barely changed since then (and tbh probably isn't the most accurate representation of me but I've gotten too used to it).
youtube
Also I'm pretty sure my 3DS friend list is already full so you probably don't need to try entering it, sorry
[Continued after the break!]
My first video that actually used footage from a 3DS is a gameplay video of Super Mario Bros. back when the 3DS Ambassador Program dropped:
youtube
I just balanced a small digital camera we had on a pencil sharpener as a support. I think I still have that camera, but it's probably buried in a closet somewhere with a dead battery I can't find the right charger for. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At that point, I don't think I've even heard of the concept of capture cards yet. In 2011 they were still in the prototyping phase, and a few well-known YouTubers at that time (cobanermani456 comes to my mind just now) simply stuck HD cameras in front of 3DS screens to capture footage.
So with my dingy little digital camera, I couldn't really do much with the setup. Of course, at that time I was just holding my 3DS in front of the camera resulting in some shaky screen images (often also angled so I could see the screen clearly and my reflection wouldn't show) This lasted ALL THE WAY until September 2012. Oof.
Tumblr media
Around the end of 2011 I switched to a different camera which apparently made things worse because now my videos ended up in 240p. I have no idea what is up with that. That's also when Super Mario 3D Land came out which I played the hell out of and made some tips & tricks videos about (that was probably the niche of the early years of my channel if I had to describe that period.)
Check out this video for some sweet 240p-upscaled-to-480p goodness and the first semblance of game footage coupled with actual video editing.
youtube
Also at one point I tried capturing direct audio by using an aux cord but the headphone jack of the main computer I use for editing at the time was broken, so it didn't really end up well.
By August 2012 I figured out a way to stabilize my 3DS footage: stacking 3DS game boxes and putting my 3DS on top. Over the years I've used different other items to hold my 3DS up like smartphone boxes and stuff, but 3DS cases are pretty reliable. I think at that point I've also internalized how many 3DS game boxes to stack up in my mind like they're a unit of measurement. You can see this in action in one of my first videos on Pushmo:
youtube
By now you've probably noticed the wacky wave effect you get when you put an LCD in front of a low res camera. That'll stick around for a long time.
Anyway, this stuck around for a while as I pumped out some random NSMB2 videos and posted my first ever Let's Play of Super Mario 3D Land. In terms of video editing, 99% of the time I just uploaded the raw footage because the videos were fine without editing at the time.
I got a 3DS XL on around September 2012, but was still stacking it on top of game boxes and other stuff. It resulted in the screen placement never being consistent, but I was content with it at the time. Sometimes I also managed to capture both screens at once.
Tumblr media
Then came everyone's favorite game, Paper Mario: Sticker Star. I keep saying the game's an integral part of some of my channel's very early growth, because I churned out quite a few GameXplain-like tip videos about it, such as how to get the Barrel sticker (you have to get it exclusively from Broozer enemies that show up in some airship enemy encounters). Arguably my biggest 'hit' at that point came when I beat Bowser without using Kersti:
youtube
This video is super grainy looking because I was recording my 3DS XL screen with my 3DS cameras. I have no idea if my regular camera was out of commission or something but it happened. A bunch of people liked it.
At this point I'm just super used to this method of recording 3DS footage now. It was certainly a lot easier to set up, record and post videos more regularly, but looking back, it didn't really make my channel stand out too much. There isn't really any incentive to watch a guy stick a small camera in front of a 3DS for video guides over a professional Let's Player using capture cards.
Tumblr media
On March 28th 2013 I posted this video of some Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon footage in 1080p! I believe this footage was recorded with a smartphone that belonged to my parents at that time. The high quality was able to get rid of the wavy patterns on-screen but I never adopted it, either because it was too much a hassle to set up or I wouldn't always get access to it that easily.
I went back to my tried-and-true regular method and a bunch of people were asking me what I used to record footage. So I recorded this video with my 3DS:
youtube
Yeah I set my camera (a PowerShot S95) on an iPhone box and my 3DS XL on a dictionary. Those were the items that just happened to have the perfect height. Sometimes in life you gotta improvise.
In May 2013 I uploaded some stereoscopic 3D videos of 3DS games. This required...yes, putting the 3DS XL in front of a 3DS with the 3D effect on. (It wasn't the other way around because the 3DS screen was smaller and more suitable for recording purposes). It sorta worked, but y'know, low quality and everything. It was a neat idea though seeing as not a lot of stereoscopic 3D videos of 3DS games existed at that time.
youtube
I also tried direct audio recording again with another video!
I have no idea how I managed to get this to work, seeing as I record footage in my own room then edit the footage on the home computer in my living room outside, but I guess the method was to record the direct audio through a notebook computer situated next to me, then taking that audio and combining it through the camera footage on my home computer. It was probably too much work for me at that time.
Alright, it's fast-forward time, you've seen me do this recording setup for far too long now. 3 years to be exact.
In 2014, after watching Chuggaaconroy's Let's Play of Kid Icarus: Uprising, I picked up the game and it included a 3DS stand! I then tried to incorporate it into my recording setup so I would no longer have to memorize what specific combination of everyday household items I can use to prop my 3DS up. Here's the first video using it:
youtube
And then that's just what I basically used for the next 3 years as well. If it ain't broke (?), don't fix it.
Small interlude: We got a new camera during 2014, which is actually the one camera I still use today in core videos! [2022 editor's note: I've switched to a smartphone camera since.] In October, during a small event I did called Sakurai Month, I gave it a whirl in recording 3DS footage with a Kid Icarus: Uprising video.
Tumblr media
And it looked REALLY good! The downside is I had to use a tripod to stand the camera up, which took away a lot of space for me to sit and see the screen properly, plus I wasn't able to record the bottom screen due to size constraints, and (I'm not 100% sure if this was done for the KIU video, but) the audio recording on that camera is a bit crappy, so I had to use my regular digital camera alongside it just so I can get the best audio. Even now in my core videos, the voices for the off-screen footage is recorded with my smartphone voice recorder.
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
But other than that, I've just used the ol' trusty PowerShot S95 for the rest of my 3DS videos. Occasionally I do some editing to get both screens at a decent size such as for my Smash 3DS videos, but that's about it.
Tumblr media
And yeah, I used this method all the way up to early 2017. By that time, I was finishing up my high school finals, and did some reorganization in the apartment. I've also started covering topics other than 3DS games, such as other Nintendo hardware like the Game Boy systems (and the Switch was on the horizon as well!) so I felt that the quality of those videos clashed a bit with videos where I stick a camera in front of a 3DS screen.
Still, I had a running LP series at the time (Rhythm Heaven Megamix), and I tried using the new camera I got to record some footage as well, but it just wasn't cutting it for me. I felt that using these high quality cameras to do more comprehensive videos like filming hardware shots and the like was a better idea than using it to just do what I did for the past 6 years.
And thus the idea of the core videos were born!
I also got a used Elgato Capture Card on October 2017, allowing me to grab footage from the Switch and even some older systems. But to think I was done covering the 3DS would be dead wrong, as there was still a lot of potential topics I wanted to cover for the 3DS, just in a more sophisticated manner instead of just pointing a camera at a screen.
This gave birth to ideas for videos such as 'How Super Mario 3D Land Saved The 3DS', but to make those videos a reality, I would either have to nab footage by other people from the Internet (which I generally try to avoid unless absolutely necessary), or use a homebrew-enabled New 3DS which had a method of recording gameplay footage to a PC application over Wi-Fi.
While that sounded reasonable, it wasn't the best solution, as the video was often very choppy and had a few visual artifacts depending on your connection speed. The best videos I could get out of it were around the 20-30fps range. You can see a sample of homebrew 3DS capturing in this tweet:
Tumblr media
But still, it was better than off-screen footage in my opinion, so I did my footage recording with homebrew and went on my merry way...
Then I learned that Katsukity, the sole provider of 3DS capture cards at that time (since Loopy had stopped orders) had a price drop.
Tumblr media
I took the hit and grabbed a 2DS from their store with a capture card pre-installed for 300 USD. Compared to using homebrew, using capture cards allowed for me to capture both a higher resolution and framerate, as well as allowing for capturing DS games (which isn't possible with homebrew). To sort of alleviate the cost, I sold the 2DS I had at the time to a real life friend who coincidentally didn't have a 3DS and wanted to get into its game library.
And since then, I think it's served me really well! Of course, as of this post there's really only like two core videos that are DS/3DS-focused, but there are still plenty of topics I want to talk about. The recent Photo Dojo video is also possibly the first ever non-Nintendo YouTube video about Photo Dojo in which footage was recorded with a capture card!
youtube
Tumblr media
It has its downsides, such as the direct audio capturing being a little wonky unless you use an audio cable (which would be a bit of a hassle with my current setup), but I feel like it will still be serving me for quite a few years to come. [2022 editor's note: still going strong!]
Since then, Katsukity has gone bankrupt (sadly unsurprising given the REALLY niche market of their products), and there isn't really a new source of 3DS capture cards at this time. Hopefully the resale values for them won't skyrocket like crazy, but if you're dead set on getting one no matter the cost, aside from second-hand listings, Merki (the European distributor for 3DS capture cards) still have old 3DS XL capture cards in stock, but you'll have to ship your system to them, so the shipping costs might add up.
But for creators who are starting out, if you want to make content using the 3DS, you can either go the homebrew capture route (if your 3DS is of the "New" variety) or just use a smartphone camera, since most can do at least 1080p nowadays. I mean, I got by with using a crappy camera for 6 years. :]
But anyway, hope this gave you a fun little insight into my history of struggling with capturing handheld footage! I think it's a nice example of equipment quality not being the most important thing for creators, even with simple tools and software, you can still make content that's pretty dang good. Even now, my setup is still evolving, and your support means I will be able to improve it through things such as better tripods and microphones, as well as more things of interest to cover, so I must thank you all once again!
If you have any further questions about footage capturing, don't hesitate to ask me. :)

OK kicking off my posting on this account with none other then my FAVORITE CONSOLE, the 3DS XL.
I say its my favorite console because three factors: Portable, games, and battery life.
First off its very easy to bring around places (I stick it in my bag), but also breakable so I reccomend handling it with care while going out and getting a case if you're able. Anyway, the battery lasts a WHILE (Estimated it lasts just on sleep mode for a week and can be left on for 1 day) so it is amazing for taking out on the go. I personally play it a lot during school since I have a lot of free time during it.
Next, the selection of games on it are amazing! DS games in general are, in my personal opinion, the best. For example, Pokemon Black and white, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Luigis Mansion, and Mario Kart 7. A personal favorite of mine is Legend of Zelda:Link between Worlds I think its underrated. Theres also so many games on the DS so its easy to find a few to enjoy.
The customizability of the DS is also a plus. Its great to have background options and app organization things its awesome. If the generic background options aren't enough, its EXTREMELY simple to Homebrew your DS and get a custom one. I'll go into homebrewing in a different post but theres various tutorials online that are extremely helpful.
The software itself runs on 4 OS's, NATIVE_FIRM, SAFE_MODE_FIRM, TWL_FIRM, and AGB_FIRM. NATIVE runs things like the home screen and the kernal, which controls basicly everything in a system. SAFE MODE is used for, you guessed it, safe mode things such as settings and updates. TWL is for DSI/DS software and compatability. Finally, AGB runs Gameboy Advance games.
The network used in Nintendo consoles is increbily simular to other consoles networks, and 3DS was the first to use this network for Nintendo. This network allowed for multiplayer experiences using WI-FI and allowed for friends using friend codes (like the Wii). Unlike the Wii, it used one code for one person rather then multiple codes, making friending people much easier. This also allowed Streetpass, a proximity based thing that allowed people with the same game to interact when close to eachother.
This concludes my epic ramble about the 3DS XL, aka my favorite console ever. Correct me if i got anything wrong and feel free to add onto what I said, next post will most likely be about a game itself rather then a console.

Why are games so expensive nowadays? What the doodly doo is going on? We don't even get the physical copy anymore.
Pretty much the same as with movie budgets, development costs and greed!
On one hand, all the big games nowadays obvs need more to build so they can keep up with the scope (graphics, length, coding complexity, etc) so that cranks the price up- Tetris isn’t a Final Fantasy 7 Remake- but then all the major companies are led by greedy corporate assholes who like to squeeze every cent out of everything. It’s also why you straight up have to pay extra for your ps5 to even be able to play physical - same price but no production costs in making it physical, so they’re pushing in that direction.
Though, if bought in a physical location, sometimes shops just like to sell things for more than the producer sets as a price. Local now-nonexistent-basically Wallmart would put the default price for Nintendo games at 65€, while the hardware store across the street sells them for the standard 50€ over here. That is…really not that much different from the 45€ I kept forking off for 3DS games 10 years ago, actually? Or the 40 that Wii and DS games were priced at 20 (ouch) years ago. And most of the modern games that aren’t obvious "will be a game awards nominee“ drop to 30 after a year anyways, while the others often get sales in the eshop at least.
Meanwhile Nintendo of America puts all these games at a base 60-80 and apparently never does sales, ever, Pokemon Company crunches the dev’s to hell and back to milk their content farm because there’ll always be enough people blinded by nostalgia to buy them at full price, and some companies are EA and Konami.
So, hello corporate greed. All the exec’s just think, why make expensive games cheap if people buy cheaply made games for expensive prices? And they see the numbers go up, so it works. By the time a game has been broken too much to still make money, they’ll have made (or bought) a new one to rip all promise out off.
TLDR depending on what device you play on, it’s not actually changed that much, but generally speaking indie games (or setting sails) are the way to go because there’s no corporate meddling, ig.

Nice?? To me?? And smart?? And just aojdja
I must also mention that part of the reason I like him is bc he would “guarantee” such a safe future for me if that makes sense. We’re both ethnically and will eventually both be religiously Mennonite as well so there’s security in knowing he’s similar to me in those aspects. He’s crazy fucking smart and will definitely get a “stable” job in the future that’ll pay well (I put stable in “” bc he’s planning on being an architect but I know nothing about what the architecture field is looking like rn. For all I know they could be paid shit and there’s very few jobs available)
And just
We’re in choir together and music/art is really important to me, and one of the icks I got in my last relationship was that my ex was really awkward when it came to singing alone, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but cb is at least more confident than my ex is/was.
Altho when I was talking to my friend, along with her input, we came to the conclusion that he probably only has wii music running through his head when he’s not doing math
He’s so endearingly awkward (rn that could change in like a week if I’m being honest) when it comes to anything that isn’t xc or stem. Or idk I wish I could spend more time with him. We have 1 class together and we sit on other sides of the room and he stares at me quite often the butterflies
Anyways my dad also gave him the “oh he comes from a good family” and just jandmskaks I’ve gotten the father ok I guess
