Julie Molina, 3rd generation legacy and senior at the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women.

Luke Patterson, prodigy of the Blackthorne Institue for Boys.

The two first met last year during their spring final exam. He flirted. She used him. They both lied. But Luke cheated and Julie hasn’t forgiven it, she definitely hasn’t forgotten, and she can’t quite shake the blow to her confidence the encounter left.

But what was supposed to be a one off, turns out to be a lot more when Blackthorne joins Gallagher Academy for the year and suddenly Luke is everywhere. He’s cocky, charming, and drives her crazy but the look in his eyes when she aces a test or hands him is ass in gym sends butterflies fluttering through her stomach.

Which is stupid because Julie has more important things to worry about. Like passing her classes and getting through her final year. Like why her mothers been acting so weird, stress lining her eyes. Like why exactly the Blackthorne boys are here this year and what exactly happened to Headmaster Covington. Like what she’s going to do after graduation… if they even get there, because the mystery of Blackthorne is far more dangerous than they could have ever guessed.

honestly my thoughts about the patterson’s are just different projections that have accumulated into Bad Vibes but here’s the rundown for you, bestie

im gonna try and keep this as close to things we know in canon as possible (though i could go even further with my interpretation and experience as a musical-kid-with-musical-parents-who-still-aren’t-supportive. i could. but i wont)

luke was clearly a passionate kid, particularly with his music. we know as an audience that this doubles as his way of communicating. so for emily to reject a part of him so significant must feel invalidating as hell

whether you think the garage belongs to bobby or alex, the fact that luke felt more comfortable there than in his own home must say something about the environment and atmosphere his parents have created

luke may be an idiot, but he’s not stupid. he’s seventeen and very self aware of the music industry, how cutthroat it can be. he says that he’s not in it for the money. but he must know that equiptment costs, travel costs and gigs don’t exactly pay well. but his parents were offering so little in terms of financial support that he figured he would fare better without them

luke felt more like himself when living on a couch in a friends garage than when he was safe and home. how many times do i need to repeat this before it sinks in that running away from home in order to feel yourself is not conducive with having good parents?? 

from my years of passively listening to my mum and dozens of other so-called ‘childcare professionals’, the only thing they say that i always agree with is: it’s never the child’s fault. yes, this applies to literally everything, every single one of their actions, even the ugly stuff. children’s brains are constantly changing and developing and they can’t always process consequences and implications of events (this particularly applies to teenagers and neurodivergent children - so, luke). most of their behaviour is a response to someone else or as a result of things that have happened to them. so, personally, i find it really harmful to defend the patterson’s by saying that luke also had some fault in their failed relationship. he is a child. a child is never responsible for holding together a strained relationship - particularly when that relationship is with their parents. parents should be providing their children with a healthy environment in which the child wants to keep that relationship, and they should never have to work harder than the parents for that. 

tl;dr luke shouldn’t be blamed for his failed relationship with his parents. and they aren’t ‘good’ parents

 i took a lot of liberties with this prompt but i hope you still like it!!!! festival au because i miss festivals and also camping

There’s a guy asleep in his tent. Willie’s sure it’s his tent, because his bag is right there, next to the air mattress the stranger is currently sprawled across. The guy is still fully clothed, and hasn’t even taken the time to crawl into the sleeping bag. He’s snoring slightly.

Willie sighs deeply. This is just a fantastically shitty ending to an already terrible day. He usually loves music festivals, but this one has been mostly garbage so far. Kayla ditched on him last minute, meaning he had no choice but to go alone because everyone else already had plans. There was hardly any space left for his tent so he had to wedge it between two others, giving him hardly any privacy. To top it off there was only one band he really wanted to see today and that one got cancelled.

He’s just been wandering around the terrain for the past hours, drinking a few beers and listening to a few bands before finally admitting that he was having a shit time and that all he really wanted was get some sleep.

Which leads him back to the stranger in his tent. The only real option is to wake him up, so Willie gently shakes the guy’s foot. No response. He shakes it a little harder.

The guy lets out a very undignified half snore half snort, and sits up, blinking blurrily. “Wha..?”

“Good morning,” Willie says, crouching down so they’re face to face. “You are in my tent.”

Despite being incredibly sleep rumpled, the guy is kind of really cute. His hair is all over the place, and he is frowning at Willie, seemingly confused. “What? No I’m not.” Then he looks around, and his expression turns to horror. “Oh my god, I am.” He gets up hastily, trying to crawl out of the tent as quickly as possible. “I am so sorry, I’m an idiot, oh my god.”

“It’s fine, really,” Willie says, trying to hold in his laughter.

The guy has managed to get out of the tent and stands up, Willie following suit. “It’s really not, I’m so sorry. I uh, I have to admit I haven’t been drinking soda today, if you know what I mean. I must’ve mistaken your tent for mine.” He looks around and laughs, albeit a bit hysterical. “Ah, yes. See, that one is mine.” He points at the tent that is literally almost on top of Willie’s.

“Honest mistake to make,” Willie says. “I’m Willie, by the way.”

“Alex,” he says. He looks at the tent, and then back at Willie. “You here all alone?”

“Yeah,” Willie says, rubbing the back of head. “Friend ditched me at the last minute.”

Alex makes a face. “That sucks. I’m here with my friend Luke, but he wasn’t ready to go to bed, yet.”

“Good thing, maybe,” Willie says, “Otherwise I would have had two strange boys in my tent.”

Alex laughs. “I would love to tell you that if it had been the both of us we would have been able to identify our tent but honestly? Yeah we could probably make the same mistake.”

Willie laughs at that, and then a silence falls over them, only broken when Alex suddenly asks, “Hey, you want to get some breakfast together tomorrow morning? My treat. To pay you back for sleeping in your tent and probably scaring the shit out of you.”

Willie smiles. He can’t help but notice the little once over Alex gave him. Maybe this festival is starting to look up after all. “You know what, I would really like that.”

“Great!” Alex says, “meet you in front of our tents somewhere around 10?”

“See you then,” Willie says, and then they both disappear into their tents. The correct ones, this time.

(Willie wakes up somewhere in the middle of the night when he hears voices from the tent right next to his. It’s Alex and presumably this Luke guy, and they’re talking about him.

“Met someone,” Alex mutters, clearly still a bit sleepy.

“Really? When? What?”

“Little bit ago. Accidentally fell asleep in his tent.”

“Alex.”

“What? He didn’t mind. We have a breakfast date tomorrow.”

“A date, huh?”

“Yeah,” Alex says, “I think so.” Willie is pretty sure he can hear a smile in Alex’s voice.

He wants to yell “THIS IS ABOSLUTELY A DATE” but he figures that would kind of ruin it. Instead, he falls back asleep and dreams of cute boys asleep in his tent and breakfast dates.)

Willie knew the band was amazing.  He had heard so much about them, about how Julie was a vocal powerhouse, about how Luke could connect with any audience almost immediately, about how Reggie seemed so in control yet carefree at the same time.  About how Alex killed it on the drums.

But nothing compared to actually watching a performance.

It was his first time actually seeing them perform, and all he could think about was how he wished he had come to see them earlier.  Everyone was amazing, of course, but his eyes were naturally drawn to Alex in the back.  The rhythmic movements were mesmerizing, and the way his hair flipped back and forth as he got into it made Willie’s heart skip a beat.

And then he pulled the mic closer to him and sang, and Willie was sure he swooned in that moment.  Alex’s voice was silky smooth and cut him right to the core, and Willie knew right then and there that Alex was the single most incredible person he had ever met.

When the show was over, Willie poofed backstage.  Julie was talking to some important-looking person while the boys hovered just behind her in anticipation.  Whatever the woman said, it made the three of them explode into happiness, jumping around and punching the air, and Willie absently noticed Julie trying to keep professional.  His eyes kept getting drawn to Alex, shaking Reggie’s shoulder and laughing.  He was effervescent in that moment, and Willie couldn’t help the smile playing on his lips, especially when Alex glanced sideways and spotted him.  The blond beamed at him, running his fingers through his hair and pretty much reminding Willie exactly why he loved him so much.

Willie gave a little wave and Alex detached himself from his friends, practically floating across to him.  He threw his arms around his boyfriend’s neck, and felt Alex’s strong arms go around his waist, and then his feet were no longer in contact with the floor and he was being swung around in circles, his legs floating out behind him as he clung to Alex.  His boyfriend was laughing, the sound like music to his ears, even moreso than the sound of him singing earlier on stage, and Willie joined in.

When his feet finally touched the ground again, Willie chuckled, cupping Alex’s cheek with his hand for a moment.  “Good news?”

“She wants to be our manager,” Alex said, still laughing, his face lit up with the brightest smile Willie had ever seen.

He gazed into Alex’s eyes, slipping his arms around his waist and holding him close.  “That’s amazing,” he breathed before pressing his lips to Alex’s.  “And so well-deserved.  You were… incredible out there.  I’ve never enjoyed a performance that much before.”

Alex picked him up again, swinging him around one more time as Willie laughed.  When he landed, he tucked his face against Alex’s shoulder, breathing in the musky scent of cologne, relishing in the fact that the insanely hot and talented drummer in front of him was his boyfriend.

Willie was the luckiest guy in the world.

Alex paced around backstage. He was supposed to be in soundcheck. He was supposed to be preparing for the show the Sunset Curve had in three hours. He was tired and confused. “Why are you here, Willie?” He looked up to the other boy, meeting his eyes. “Please get over me, we can’t get back together.”

“Alex...” Wille begged, reaching for the other boy’s hand.

Alex stepped away. “No.” He shut his eyes. “Get over me. Go away.”

“Alex, look at me,” He opened his eyes. Willie seemed like he was hollow, lifeless, not who he was before. “How can I get over you when you’re my entire world? When you’re my lifeline, the one thing holding me together? You made me happy, Alex, a better person. You helped me in so many ways. We were good together.”

Alex pivoted to face the stage. Away from Willie, away from his broken past. “We were. Not my fault you messed it up.”

And with no regrets, he walked out on stage, his head held high.

ooh ooh ooh (i’m making these up on the spot but when am i not)

for willex

willex challenge each other to organise the most extravagant date

it starts really tame because alex is nervous and willie is trying not to be a criminal for their boyfriends sake

then it builds up to the point where they’re poofing to paris for the weekend

willie took alex to antarctica once but it lasted all of five seconds because yup ghosts can feel the cold nice to know

alex prefers more ‘sophisticated’ ones but they make them entertaining

they go to that restaurant where you sit in complete darkness but because they can’t eat, they just sit there in the corner of the room leaning on each other and talking. it’s surprisingly nice to be able to turn some senses off every now and then

for boggie

crooked teeth was a poem bobby wrote that luke found and put music to

reggie is as clueless as anything and just thinks luke wrote it about that musician he fancies this week

bobby isnt against physical contact, just very very specific about who can touch him, where and when (it’s a sensory thing and they like to be aware of what to expect)

but reggie is more than happy to let bobby initiate. whenever reggie wants contact, he makes sure to check it’s okay and is really clear about what he wants (“id like to hold you hand while we walk to the pier if that’s okay?”)

sometimes even that feels like too much and they just hold pinkies

reggie was initially really against watching star wars, his dad hates it and reggie just really wants to have something in common with him

but bobby is a nerd!! they’re the reason reggie gets invested and they’re always talking fan theories until stupid o’clock in the morning

Hi!! Do you prefer canon ideas or do you have your own headcanons for willex?

i think i generally prefer canon but that’s mostly because the willex canon is actually really good?

some headcanons i DO have though:

- willie is the little spoon and you canNOT change my mind on this (also because i just really think alex loves holding someone when he sleeps ;_;)

- willie asks alex to be his boyfriend BUT alex is the one who proposes

- neither of them kills the spiders because alex is terrified of them and willie thinks they’re ‘neat little dudes just living their life and vibing’
