A beam of morning light streaked down Shay’s bare back. The room was silent but for the sound of his deep breathing as he slept. Adam reached out and traced along the ray of golden skin. He traced the constellation of freckles, down between his shoulder blades and across the faint ridges of his spine. He might count them like an astronomer might count the stars, if he had the time. Maybe another morning.

Adam’s fingers brushed a freckle on Shay’s lower back and he gave a faint shiver, shifting in his sleep and letting out a soft sigh. Adam smiled to himself. He touched that spot again and Shay squirmed, a lazy arm coming up to rub at his eye, the one that hadn’t been burned. The scarred arm sat curled against his body. The streak of golden light fell across his chest as he rolled over onto his back, green eyes blinking neon, his chest darkened here and there with the tiniest of bruises. Adam’s marks were less visible; the only evidence Shay’s mouth had been there were the memories, flooding back in flashes that made his cheeks burn.

“I’m trying to sleep,” Shay grumbled, shivering and tugging the blanket up over his shoulders. “Quit poking me.”

 “Sorry.” But it was hard to feel bashful during moments like these. “Are you cold?”

Shay nodded, shifting and holding his arms out. Adam wrapped his arms tight around him, bringing him close and kissing him on the lips.

Shay groaned, leaning away and kissing his shoulder instead. “Your breath stinks.”

“So does yours.”

Shay’s body quivered in his arms as he laughed, before he tilted his head up and pressed his lips to his neck.

WIP Playlist Release

Alright guys, so these are definitely not done, more and more will be continuously added as the ideas and story progresses (I've literally done zilche for writing but have been playing around with other stuff to get the creative juices flowing). But I wanted to release one of the playlists for my Top Gun Maverick WIP just to see what you guys think. If anybody has any ideas as to what to add for music, please, by all means let me know, I'm absolutely dying to hear it!!!!

Also just as a heads up shit's not in order, I'm adding them as they come BUT, I may or may not put them in order so they line up with the story (lol).

Infernal Serenade: Summer Vibes

WIP Description: Chiffon Street couldn't be a more normal neighborhood. Following the jogger, Quince, and Bradi, who lives just off the bend, the shy runner and bratty collage student form an unlikely bond. Only, Quince soon finds Bradi acts rather unusual, almost other worldly, and Bradi realizes Quince is hiding more than he lets behind the tough guy façade.

Rin's, Santana's, Skylar's, and Jackal's Spotify Playlists are now available 🎧

Finally, after a pretty long time, I've finally gotten around to scanning through thousands of my songs and making proper playlists for the rest of the ROs and Jackal 😄 Next step is to also make the playlists on YouTube for those who don't use Spotify, but this might not be available too soon, but it's on my long to-do list 📝

The playlists mainly contain the type of songs that the said character love to listen to or fit their vibes, and if I'm lucky, some of them actually have lyrics that fit their stories as well 😁

I've also updated all the already-existing playlists as well (MC, Ash, Luka, Viktor & Yvette, and The Killer), namely, adding some more songs that I just discovered into them. If you haven't check this first batch of playlists, feel free to check them in this character playlist masterpost I've made!

Writing Playlists: A Rough Guide.

As someone who can mentally visualise my story as I’m writing it - rather like a film playing in my head - I find it helps me to have a soundtrack to accompany it. That way I can work on specific parts of a WIP by listening to specific parts of my playlist. So, here is how I set up my Writing Playlists. There are many variations I use, so here are a few.

Follow the Outline, Damn your eyes!

One of the more common setups I use is to find a song that reflects the mood of a specific chapter, and then create the playlist off my story outline. I have done this with my Echoes of Eternity playlist, and it gives a nice sense of the story arc. I have a list of the songs in my world-building notebook, as it was useful to refer back to the outline when planning it. Overall, this has resulted in a very clear - if somewhat mixed media - playlist.

Did Someone say My Name?

Equally, you can just go off character vibes. Songs that remind you of what your character’s childhood was like, what they eat for breakfast, their love life, their death… This usually ends up being somewhat vaguer in terms of acting as accurate backing, but does allow an insight into the character’s mind. As well as having playlists for Characters from my WIPs, I have a lot for my favourite characters from fanfic and history.

Overtures

Finally, you can create a playlist that introduces the setting. Nature sounds, bardcore folk, fantasy rpg and tv series music for a fantasy world, for example. Or a mix of classical music, Victorian drinking songs and Assassin’s Creed sneaky music for a Victorian detective story. Creating the soundscape a character would hear is helpful for describing scenes and action shots. I haven’t done this as its own playlist, per se, but I do a lot of background music for my fanfic and short stories.
