Mackenzie Arnold x reader
Tumblr media
plot: Mackenzie and her new fiancé are out to go shopping for your wedding, when you wake up you think of the day when she did give you the ring
warnings: none (except for the fact this is my first tumblr post)
Tumblr media
You were very excited for today, you were about to start shopping for your wedding to the love of your life.
You still remember when she dropped down on one knee, it was after the France game and you decided to surprise her at the end of the game but when Courtney Vine's ball hit the net you couldn't help but scream so loud that your significant other heard you and ran over to you.
No words were said as she picked you up and brought you over to the field and hugged you "I thought I fucked it up" she whispered, referring to when she missed her penalty "So what if you missed a penalty kick, you saved so many goals for them to get, you've made history" you smiled and kissed her temple "now go celebrate with your team" you laughed as you saw Sam Kerr running over to your girlfriend.
"Macca!"
The captain jumped on Mackenzie's back as you winked at her "Of course we did it, your good luck charm was here" Sam smiled before fake bowing at you "Milady" You laughed at her antics before turning on your heels "I'm staying at the hotel across the road!" you yelled to your girlfriend before walking back to the stands.
Back in the hotel, you got changed into your pj's and started to get ready for bed, you had been home for a while and had expected Mackenzie to come over but she had just made Australian history with her teammates so you assumed she was out partying with them.
Spitting your toothpaste out and rinsing out your mouth with water is when you hear knocking at your door. "No room service!" you yelled out before hearing chuckling "Not room service babe" You heard your girlfriend's voice behind the door which you were now practically skipping to.
Opening it is when your smile grows, and your girlfriend stands there with a big smile on her face "Where have you been?" you ask "What do you mean?" Mackenzie pulls a face "You just took a while that's all" you shrugged "thought you were celebrating with the girls"
"I'd rather celebrate with my girlfriend" she simply stated as she put her bag down
It was at times like this you realized how hopelessly in love with the goalkeeper you were, she had just done something so special and she wanted to celebrate with you, her girlfriend who only got into soccer because of her when you ran into her at a Bali sports bar during the men's world cup when the Socceroos lost and then left Alanna and Caitlin to ramble about the rules of soccer to a girl she had just met.
"Alright" you smiled "I'll go put something nice on then" and Mackenzie nodded her head.
When you closed your door Mackenzie let out a big breath as she picked out the box she had spent so long getting, after the game she decided it was time, you were her good luck charm and she never wanted to lose you.
You had no idea what was happening outside your room door as you were deciding between two tops, opening the door you went to ask your girlfriend but she had a different idea.
Right in front of you was Mackenzie with one knee down, tears spiking out of her eyes out of nerves, and a beautiful ring in her hands as she held it towards you.
She shrugged "I know I don't have roses on the floor but-" "yes" you cut her off immediately but she brang the ring closer to her
"Let me do the cute long speech that I wrote and memorized in the car" she sassed as a tear ran down your cheek.
You always remembered that night in France with the biggest smile on your face, even now as you watched your sleeping Fiancé next to you who snuggled closer to you
"What are you smiling about," she asked "You are just so stubborn" You smiled and you felt her eyes roll on your chest "you ready for today?" she asked, knowing your excitement about weddings
"ready Freddy" you joked as Mackenzie laughed at the fact that it was so bad but you silenced her by pecking her on the lips
"leave in 15?" you asked and Mackenzie wrapped her arms around you and turned so she was on top of you on the bed and cuddling you like a koala
"make it 30"

Ek ka harna dusre ka jeetna yehi to zindagi ka dastoor hai. Roz koi harta hai or koi jeet ta hai. But cricket, it's been said before a million times that cricket is not just a sport it's an emotion. And people who don't watch cricket are lucky actually cuz unke liye it was just like any another match, Is saal nhi to chaar saal baad try kr legi team frse. And maybe they are right is saal nahi to chaar saal baad sahi world cup jeet legi India, bharosa aur umeed puri hai hume. True ICT fans are goona be there in 2027 also supporting just like they did yesterday.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But still kal ki haar kisi ek ki ya sirf un 11 logon ki ya sirf ICT ke fans ki nahi hai balki pure desh ki thi. The way the whole team was trying to hide their tears in the ground broke everyone. And no matter how much we try to remember those amazing 10 matches but this one match will always come along like a thorn with the rose.
Sabse zayda dukh India ke harne ka bhi nhi hai balki is insaan ka trophy na utha pana hai. The way he wanted to win the world cup was clearly seen in his performance, in his interviews and mostly in his eyes. He wanted to lift the trophy so badly.

It was just one bad day 💙

2023 World Cup Final India vs Australia
I was not there in 2003. My parents were.
Today as we switched on the TV to see a stadium filled with blue, I noticed the small smile on their faces. I will never understand that feeling of loss from 2003 but I do understand 2023.
World Cup is not about those 6 hours in that 22 yard pitch with 22 men fighting over a title. It never was. It's always about those hundreds of people supporting them. From coaches, physicians to that miniscule person finishing the seams of the ball. It's about those screams, whichever team it may be. It's about the adrenaline of the crowd, the smell of sweat in the air and the glimmer of hope in their eyes. It's about the sheer happiness. For once people forget about the problems to see some boys play with a bat and a ball and escape the real world.
I don't know about australia. I haven't been there nor have seen their reaction to this World Cup final. I can only presume it's not much different from those sights in Ahmedabad. But I do know my people. It unites them and there's nothing that makes me more happy than to see everyone on the same side.
Today the Indian team will not play for a title for which they have waited 12 years. They will play for that rickshaw driver saving up his whole weeks earnings to buy a good meal on the day of the finals. For that person standing outside a retail shop because they don't have TV at home. For that associate who has taken a leave even after the HR did not grant it. For that student who has looked up from their books towards the TV which had not been switched on for months.
And I think they know that. And I think they also know that even if they lost, they will have succeeded in providing a 6 hr escape to a country of millions. And I think it's wonderful.
Go team India! We are proud of you!

Lucy Bronze x reader
Tumblr media
plot: you and your best friend go to the Lioness vs Matilda's game and are taken back when a player from England walks up to you at the end of the game.
warnings: a confident lucy and drunk friend
Tumblr media
You and your best friend of two years would always try and watch any game where your countries battled each other, from cricket all the way to hockey. You loved it and when you could you would find cheap tickets and drink till your head spun and you called a single kick a goal very loudly.
But here you were in your yellow and green Matilda's top you bought from the market years ago that was filled with signatures from past players, an overpriced beer in your hand, and your best friend in light blue blabbering on about your 'restricted view' tickets and how they were actually really good.
"y/n you don't get it I can literally touch Alessia Russo" your best friend bagged on "oh yeah" you challenged "Me and Mackenzie Arnold are going to be best mates after the game" your Aussie accent shining through since it was your second beer and the teams were still doing some light training before the match started.
You felt someone staring at you as you quickly turned around back to the ground to see all the teams kicking around until you made eye contact with one of the players from the England team.
It made sense you thought, your friend had bought tickets with a bunch of other England players so you stuck out like a sore thumb, the player laughed to herself with a smirk that made your eyes widen a little as it was so simple but was very attractive.
"Soccer games are my favorite" you reminded your best friend "Yeah because soccer women players are your perfect type, cocky, sporty, and most of the time, also into women" your friend mocked you and you rolled your eyes "Sure, sure, I'm only familiar with Matilda's, I don't fraternize with the enemy"
You and your friend laughed again before the players started to get into positions, the same player you made eye contact with, starting in front of you as a defender, she looked over to your crowd again and the area cheered very loudly, making you laugh
"she must be popular," you remarked and your friend blankly stared at you "That's Lucy fucking Bronze y/n!"
The game continued on as England scored 1 up and your best friend stuck her tongue out at you as you flipped her off, as you watched the game unfold your best friend scoffed "I have never seen Lucia Bronze look at the crowd so much"
"We said the same thing about Gorry last time and figured out it was because her missus was in the crowd" you gasped before you both turned around to look at the crowd.
"She's hot," you remarked about the player "so her girlfriends gotta be special" your best friend agreed as you scanned the crowd but found no luck as most of your area were filmed with men or mums and daughters and sons.
The first half ended with England leading and you were getting very close to slapping your best friend for her comments.
Nothing improved in the second half, Australia had scored giving you hope but England secured the win in the last 10 minutes with another goal, your ears almost blasting from the cheers around you. When the game finished you didn't leave as quick as you wanted to because your friend wanted her new top to be signed before quickly a figure ran over to you too.
"you look like you're going for the wrong team" a thick English accent popped up, you turned your body to meet the eyes of the defender who kept on looking at the stands but now that she was closer your breath hitched.
maybe you should go for other teams as well as Matilda's.
You didn't reply straight away giving your now-drunk best friend an opportunity to jump in as Lucy signed her top.
"Tell me about it, no matter how many sports her support for her country is thick and through" you furrowed your eye brows at your friends statement and the defender laughed "I guess your gonna have to support a new team from here on" she smirked
and then your jaw almost dropped to the floor.
The defender took off her jersey with one arm revealing a six-pack of abbs that your friend nudged your shoulder about very hardly as she wrote something on the back of it and passed it to you.
"See you at other games yeah?" she asked and left without waiting for an answer.
With your jaw dropped you turned the top around.

Here comes the wave of gloominess in the air now that the ICC world cup is over. Like what are we supposed to look forward to now? Gotta find another hobby to keep my dopamine levels up high.
