Super Dragon Ball Heroes Episode 50

The finale of the Supreme Kai of Time arc finally came out a few weeks ago, so let's wrap up my liveblog of it.

Just so we're all up to speed, I covered Episodes 41 through 49 here , here, and here. But if you're not in the mood to read that: this arc introduces Aeos, the previous Supreme Kai of Time, who has now returned to take back the position from Chronoa. Aeos believes that there are too many alternate timelines now, and Chronoa's refusal to deal with them has only made things worse, so Aeos and her four attendants take over the Time Nest to resolve the problem instead. Aeos's solution is to hold a big tournament with warriors from different timelines, and the losing teams get their timeline erased.

This all gets thrown into chaos when Demigra shows up, having recently gained a power boost from the Dark King energy once held by Fu. I'm not sure if this was just a coincidence, or if Demigra somehow manipulated the Aeos/Chronoa dispute to his advantage. Anyway, he tries to seize control of the Time Nest and destroy all the fighters who oppose him, which culminates in this climactic beam struggle against Goku, Bardock, and Future Gohan.

Just so we're clear, the Bardock and Future Gohan we see here are variants from other timelines, recruited by Aeos to serve as her attendants. Bardock was the "Hooded Saiyan" who occasionally helped Goku during the previous arc. Gohan hails from a world where Trunks died fighting 17 and 18, while he survived.

Anyway, the Father-Son-Grandson Kamehameha ends with Bardock daring the boys to push even harder, which leads to Bardock turning SSJ4, Goku going Ultra Instinct (again), and Gohan turning SSJ2. This overwhelms Demigra and he dies.

However, before Demigra is beaten, Aeos and Chronoa have this nice little reconciliation where Aeos points out that Demigra only got this far because of the multitude of alternate timelines. Even if he's defeated, some other menace will just rise up to replace him. She asks Chronoa how she can continue to support sparing the timelines if this is true, and Chronoa replies that a lot of good has come from the alternate timelines as well, and she's willing to trust the heroes to rise to the occasion. Then they hold hands and do some sort of time stuff, which might have helped tip the scales against Demigra, but I don't know. When it's all over, they use the Scroll of Eternity to restore everything to the way it was before Demigra attacked.

Goku is satisfied with this outcome, but he has one last bit of business to discuss with Aeos: Goku wants the Super Space-Time Tournament to be restarted, since he never got to finish his match with Xeno Goku earlier in the arc. Aeos agrees, and this time it's just an exhibition, with the fighters who still want to fight having 1v1 matches with no brackets.

We get some brief glimpses of the other matches, like Piccolo vs. Pikkon, Master Roshi vs. Grandpa Gohan, and so on, but none of these amount to anything. This episode spent a decent two minutes re-telling the beam struggle from Episode 49, which could have been used to show a little more of the cool fights they teased instead.

Credit where it's due, Goku vs. Xeno Goku actually gets some time, and there's some cool spots, like SSJ4 Goku trying to use a Warp Kamehameha on UI Goku, only for UI to try to float over to avoid it. Then 4ku snares him with his tail, but UI-ku is still too nimble to be trapped for long.

As everyone watches, Aoes reflects on how Goku impressed her, and I think the implication is that Goku's the one who convinced her not to erase the other timelines, at least for the time being. Then there's a credits sequence, like this is a big finale, but it's not.

They do the finish of the Goku/Vegeta fight from DBS: Super Hero, and it's UI Goku who wins. Sound booking, but I wish they could have come up with a different way to end it. I mean, Aeos's tournament was already a rip-off of the Tournament of Power, and Demigra's invasion was just a retread of his invasion in Xenoverse 1, and now this. It's tough to find anything really fresh in this story.

With the match settled, Aeos announces that she'll be leaving again to survey the alternate timelines for herself. She says she wants to re-check everything to re-evaluate her decision, and warns Chronoa that if she finds she had it right the first time, she'll be back to erase everything like she intended. Chronoa seems to accept this. Maybe she's confident that Aeos will see things her way, or maybe it's just that Chronoa has no choice. This arc suggests that Chronoa cannot, or will not, challenge Aeos' authority. I guess with Aeos leaving, Chronoa is reinstated as Supreme Kai of Time, but they never explained why Aeos left the job in the first place, or what claim she had to take it back. There's a lot of unanswered questions in all of this.

Aeos's four attendants will be joining her on her new mission, including Vidros, who proposed to Yamcha during the tournament. So what about that? Well, it turns out Vidros can't marry Yamcha right away. Her people have a tradition that says she can't marry until she reaches a certain age, which is still a dozen centuries away. So she intends to go with Aeos and return for Yamcha 1200 years from now. D'oh!

This did not go over well with the fandom, who were pretty hyped for the idea of Yamcha getting the girl. I think we all knew that there'd be some kind of catch. They weren't going to marry off an established character in a web series for crying out loud. I choose to look at this in a positive light. Yamcha's still got a fiance. And just because she has to wait 1200 years doesn't mean that he has to wait the same amount of time. Aeos might do her a solid and bring her back to the present day so she can still marry Yamcha during his natural lifespan.

At least Vidros had some sort of character arc in this story. I have no idea what this alternate version of Piccolo was supposed to be about. He just shares some meaningful looks with Gohan and that's it. Future Gohan says goodbye to Xeno Trunks, Bardock takes a last look at his son, and they all head out.

I seriously wondered if Episode 50 was going to be the finale for the entire web-series, since this arc seemed to wrap up the last plot threads of the whole show. Most of SDBH was about Fu's rise to prominence, and then he got defeated with the help of Demigra and Aeos's team, who settled all of their business in this arc. So this seemed like a pretty good stopping point, but no. There's an Episode 51, which promises a whole new arc that will probably take another two years to finish. I guess Super Dragon Ball Heroes will be around for a while longer.

And I'll probably cover those future story arcs one of these days, but this seems like a good place to stop for now. It's a lot more satisfying to watch this show several episodes at a time, and it'll be at least a year before we're far enough along to make this worth my time. But we'll see how it goes.

7 Worst Dragon Ball Characters (objective)

Honorable mention, Master Roshi. So here's the deal, I actually like Roshi. I actually like Roshi A LOT when he's being the offbeat martial arts master, but for the most part he's a serial sex offender, and the anime adds even more sexual assault for lulz.

Like a bad relationship, I try to remember the good times

Oolong

So y'know how I basically said there were aspects to Roshi's personality I really enjoyed, which is why he's not on the list proper? That's not the case with Oolong. There are definitely aspects to Oolong I like -- I like Piggy from Journey to the West and I think it's hilarious that Toriyama dressed him (and Mai, for some reason) like Chairman Mao. I also have to credit him with saving the world, although idk how Pilaf would have actually held onto his world empire with people like Goku around. Regardless, his character is another vehicle for sexual assault humor.

And yes, the English dub fucked up and made him sound like an adult. The joke is that he's a child that acts like a perverted adult, but because he's a child, he's just kidnapping girls to clean his house and be his mom, basically (Bulma pretty much even adopts him). Sexual assault humor is still sexual assault humor, though, so Oolong sucks

He's just gross. I really hate this dude

Garlic Jr.

Who stans a poser? In DBZ Abridged, they rip on Lord Slug for being EXACTLY King Piccolo, but the only difference between Slug and Garlic Jr. is that Lord Slug knew his place well enough to stay out of the anime.

Lemme start tho with the things I actually like about this guy. 1) he's a demon, I think. Toriyama introduced the concept with King Piccolo, backtracked, then reintroduced it with Dabura. Dragon Ball Xeno Heroes or w/e later realized this was free real estate and expanded on the idea to the point of nausea, but until then, Garlic and his henchmen and Dabura were your only demons, if that's something you found dope.

Other than this, Garlic Jr. steals Pilaf's design, but instead of remaining a lil' gremlin, he goes the filler route and beefs up like a Broly. He has a past connection with Kami like King Piccolo and successfully uses the Dragon Balls like King Piccolo. He then uses the Jr. like Piccolo. Get your own fucking thing. ALL YOU HAVE IS BEING THE SON OF KAMI'S RIVAL

And what really gets me is that he would be an okay filler villain if he wasn't just a chimera of better, actually canon characters, but as he is, the only things I like about his movie and arc have nothing to do with him.

Fwiw this is the only character on this list that's filler/not a part of Toriyama's original run. If this included GT, then there would be nothing but GT. As far as Super goes, I like the characters or at least their concepts (looking at you Zamasu), and the shit part is in the execution.

Spopovich

He and Yamu serve to showcase Babidi's power of mind control, but in doing so we're forced to witness the most pointlessly brutal, one-sided beatdown in all of Dragon Ball. I think the anime even devoted an entire episode to this ffs

We later learn that you have to already be a prat to fall under Babidi's powers, so there's nothing even tragic about his brainwashing and ultimate demise. He sucked before, he sucks now, he's a bad character.

Idasam

First off, it really doesn't make sense that a kid's division was introduced, does it? Most of the top fighters in the World Martial Arts Tournament were underage

Second, look how cute that girl in the top right is

Ok ok. As I made this list I began to realize there weren't a lot of characters in Dragon Ball that I actually hated. Some I definitely liked less than others, but few were so bad that I would remove them if I could. This chick is definitely one of them tho.

The Anti-Chi-Chi, Idasam raised two little brats that ig she loves and supports, which is the only thing she has that going for her. Besides that, she's mean to Bulma and even tried to physically assault her until the Mother of our Saviour Chi-Chi stepped in

Pirate Robot

Admit it, you thought he was filler. He looks like Third Form Frieza fucked some Saiyan armor. I've seen people try to salvage pirate robot by saying he's Android 2, but no, he's not, General Blue had no idea about this underwater pirate cave, and it doesn't make sense for Dr. Gero to squirrel away a dragon ball down here. Sometimes the things you love just disappoint you

Super Buu

I'm not sure this if this is a controversial opinion, but Super Buu is trash, his arc is trash, and everything he does will be done better later by Janemba in a fucking filler movie.

Before his introduction, Gohan failed, Vegeta failed and failed and failed, Gotenks fucked around and found out, and Goku wasted his time on a useless transformation like Future Trunks did in the Cell Saga (if he had been alive, Gohan would be trained and he would have realized SSJ3 wasn't a real transformation). Then Hercule came along and WON. The champ did it, he beat Majin Buu (with kindness). And that's great. If the Buu arc ended there, it would've still had several loose ends, but Z has loose ends as it is (imo another saga was needed to complete Gohan's character arc).

But then Toriyama (I'd rather blame his editors, but I've never seen anyone credit Super and Kid Buu to editorial interference) Ctrl-Z's Hercule's victory and we get Super Buu, a Perfect Cell wannabe that does nothing but crack his neck and murder Marin and everyone else too ig with his admittedly dope human extinction wave.

I have nothing but issues with this guy. His arc is way too long, his design is generically cool like a filler character, he steals Cell's powerset, he steals everybody's clothes, and he murders most of the cast while having little to no personality, so I can't even hate him for it

Go crack your neck more, you're the worst character in Dragon Ball

2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?

So. 😐😳😳🙈🙈 right now I think the uncontested favorite is Gioia! she's just so girlie of all time... I think the different stages of her character are what keep pulling me back to her- I don't have many characters like that and it's really fun to brainstorm the bridges between each of her eras. Another favorite is Lana, my YGO GX oc and also. my first one ever <3 Gioia has in-universe eras but Lana... lana has had so many rewrites and reincarnations to get to where she is now. working on her feels like honoring baby sarah so I am very partial to Ms. Lana too 🥰

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory

ouuuuug I have SO many with tragic backstories.. i was one of those kids growing up that was obsessed with putting my characters through the most harrowing shit ever 😆 i say that like it's in the past.. i am still on this madness n mania! I think one the most tragic backstories I have is that of my Dragon Ball Xenoverse protagonist... Goten! 🤓🤠🤪🤪🤪🤓🤓😳

truthfully in retrospect I cannot tell you WHY I decided to play as Goten, beyond the fact that Xeno Trunks doesn't have his bestie + seemed a bit lonely.. i said by god I'm gonna help you trunks!! 😭😭 I don't remember how or why I ended up where I did, but I decided that this specific iteration of Goten would be from a version of the timeline (and there is. a lot of lore I wrote to explain this 🆘🆘) where Frieza did end up succeeding in defeating Goku and conquering the Earth, falling in line with the Frieza Planet #80 thing that happens in one of the games (I never played it, but I read about this on the wiki and went hahahahahaha). I'm answering this question last so I won't talk too deeply about The Tragedies that happen in his timeline prior to Xenoverse, but :( he ofc never got to meet his dad, and he loses Gohan and Chichi back to back.. I'm going through my notes again- even Piccolo dies?! 😭 Anyways, Goten grows up in a world where everyone is faced with a power so intense that struggling against it is futile. Despite knowing this, the remaining Z Fighters struggle anyways... Without any intervention, the future is very bleak.

Things only change when Goten gets into an attack ship to leave Earth (I think this was originally to go somewhere that he could become powerful without drawing Frieza's attention? but then it kinda fridges the rest of the Z Fighters so i'm not super keen on it anymore..) He's beamed into the prologue of Xenoverse, and the plot unfurls pretty normally from there. Despite the headache he gets trying to understand everything, he's pretty happy to be in the Time Patrol because it does help him become more powerful! plus he gets to learn more about his father + also how to defeat Frieza! I don't think I ever properly circled around to his original narrative, before Xenoverse, but I think that arc should conclude with him realizing Frieza is on some fucked up time sauce and that they Actually Shouldn't be as powerful as they are.. shenanigans ensue, it takes Goten WITH all of the Xenoverse experience, the Z Fighters, and a surprise betrayal from Vegeta to defeat him. :]

Even though his original business with the Time Patrol is finished at that point, I think he stayed with them because he was curious about How his timeline got so fucked up from the original one... this loops into Xenoverse 2, I imagine. Anyways, he has one foot in the Time Patrol and one foot in his own world- iirc they are able to revive everyone who died during Frieza's conquest of Earth bc Gohan has a romance with Videl in their timeline? but I think Goku stays dead bc he'd died twice at that point??

anyways this concluded with xenoverse pan swag, at least one xeno gotenks moment where he uses TWO SWORDS YAHH (Goten uses either Yajirobe's katana or Yamcha's Azure Dragon Sword.. i forget which though 😭😭😭), and a smidge of truten 🥺🥺🥺 to top it all off. his and trunks' relationship here drives me INSANE because like. Trunks doesn't exist in Goten's timeline and Goten doesn't exist in Trunks' timeline, and yet here they are!!! i think they're able to relate on a lot of things too, but primarily the melancholy of fixing issues with the Main Timeline, where everything is good and right, where Goku and Gohan are alive. 🥺 now that I think of it, the one event where your character is supposed to stop Trunks from yeehawing into the sunset with Future Gohan is probably. very difficult for Goten because he'd probably disappear with his suddenly-alive brother too, if given the chance! but anyways thanks to these kinds of things they have a lot of trust in each other + a lot of synchronization between each other.. I think that makes xenoverse 2 a lot more dramatic too mwahahaha

(i answered this one last bc i was worried i'd go overboard with it... the prophecy came true, girl help!! 😱🤪🤪)

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)

This one... it is very funny to me... so as I said above, Lana was my first OC ever.. when I first made her at the age of 6 or 7, she was really just a modpodge of things I thought were cool: France 😞, fashion, mysterious green blood that was from another universe....??? When Lana was created, she barely had a personality and well.. since I was an isolated child living on the internet, we really didn't have anything in common.

I rewatched YGO GX during the first COVID lockdown with my sister and girl it woke something UP in me. In her current iteration, there are.. a lot of similarities... like baby me, she was pretty isolated as a kid but Also Thought Nothing of It; she had a fish out of water moment when she finally did get to be around people her own age normally; she had a lot of anxiety about underperforming when compared to her older sibling (this birthed my favorite thing ever for Lana... the Syrus brotherhood of steel.. i thought syrus SUCKED as a kid so this is personally hysterical)... Once she settles into school, she really does fine in her own regard! but that doesn't stop her from having a Senior Year Disillusionment Moment <3, and it takes her many a few years to get back on her feet after graduation...

i'm looking at Lana like 👀👀👀👀 if you can bounce back so can i!!! so can i bitch!!! 👀👀👀👀

29. Which one of your OCs would go investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone they’re going?

so considering Gioia literally abandons her entire life to run away with some mystery man and quintessentially go explore some haunted house, without telling anyone... it is Gioia hands down, easy peasy 🤓🤓🤓🤓

I could also see Asa, Thee Primordial Skyrim OC, doing this because she just gets up to this kind of shit accidentally </3 Another OC who would actually do it on purpose would be two of my many Dragon's Dogma OCs: Seveste and Samara! they are twins your honor :] Seveste would do it in pursuit of cool treasure.. Samara would do it to convene with the spirits that haunt the house 😫

39. Introduce any character you want

so I Was going to tell you all about my Dragon's Dogma OCs because they marked the beginning of an Era for my OC creation, and tbh I don't think I'd've gotten to Gioia if not for them, but... I barely have any notes about them and tbh I don't remember the lore enough to actually go into detail about them </3

SO.

I will instead tell you of one of my favorite DD memories and give you a little more info on the aforementioned Mister Seveste! first.. I made him and his sister when I was 15, so. </3 keep this in mind. When I first made him, I wanted to really lean into the thief king idea But I couldn't come up with a name for him.. so I asked my sister for help naming him and she was like Oh! Heinz! because he does Heinous Things!

as u can tell, I Did Not Name Him Heinz. it's funny in retrospect because my first thought back then was Heinz Doofenshmirtz and I was like, NO!!! HE IS SERIOUS!! >:[ but now, he kind of is a doofenshmirtz-esque character..

This Doofenshmirtz aura stems HEAVILY from one very iconic moment in his playthrough. You can romance basically any character in Dragon's Dogma (my first playthrough iirc i Accidentally Romanced the innkeeper or quest-giver without knowing it bc i talked to them frequently. girl help!!), so for Seveste's playthrough I decided to properly romance Aelinore, the young wife of the duke, who is. Much Older Than Her :( iirc this romance was written pretty nicely, although I think you do get thrown in prison and whipped for cucking the duke 🥺🥺 It's all worth it because, in the end, you do get Aelinore out of her situation!!

So, Aelinore romance arc concluded! I carried on with the plot, which eventually meant I had to fight the Now Super Aged Duke in his bedchambers.. Important note here, Seveste is a magick archer and iirc he could shoot flaming arrows? And there were many pots of oil in the bedchambers.. so I remember either pouring these pots out all over the floor or just setting them up maybe? all while the old and feeble duke is trying to get a few punches in on mister Seveste.. it was a time

I got it all set up though, and so the most iconic moment of my entire life unfolded... I had Seveste ready a flaming arrow, and then I yelled at this poor old dying fuck, "FIRST I STOLE YOUR WIFE... NOW I STEAL YOUR LIFE!!!" And then I shot the arrow and he blew the FUCK UP <3

My younger sister and I were like OUHHHHHHH!!!!! It's one of my fondest memories to this day XD Whenever I think back on it now, my brain applies a Doofenshmirtz voice to the quote which makes it even more potent!

50. Give me the good ol’ OC talk here. Talk about anything you want

all of this has made me want to play Dragon's Dogma again... the second game is coming out soon so maybe I should!! beyond that, MAN.. Something I've realized lately is that I honestly need to start reading more and taking more media in.

Growing up, most of my OCs were basically dolls with enough personality and story to make go mwah mwah with the canon characters in whatever thing I was watching. That, or they were my fucked up little meow meows that I used to RP the Hunger Games or what have you... Between Dragon's Dogma and now, I think they've gained a stronger sense of narrative BUT. Something I've noticed between my more recent major OCs like Lana, Thalis, and Gioia is that they're all a reflection of myself in one way or another. Which is partially fine, everything I ever create will have a bit of me in it somehow yk. But I think they're a little repetitive and I want to branch out more with their personalities and stories.. everyone kind of has a depressed girl era that they crawl out of, which I've written to give myself hope in a personally dark time but.. their depressed girl eras can be Richer! them crawling out of the hole can have more depth!

DBZ Ultimate Timeline Suggestions

Hi! I just watched MasakoX’s The Alternate (& Ultimate?) Dragon Ball Z Canon video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G6Nb3CJS3o&t=1117s  And I remember thinking similar things like this back in the day before Super was a thing and even more so after supplemental materials such as Dragon Ball games, Heroes, spinoffs, etc intrigued me more than the cannon story for one reason or another. So this really got my thoughts going. 

So I made a list of suggestions for the team if they ever decided to make this into an multi-part series that smoothly transitions into one another. 

Start with OG Dragon Ball Movies

The first Dragon Ball movies also repackaged the main series like Z did and they already linked together pretty well and I always wanted to see this version of Dragon Ball continuity continue in some fashion and this would be a great opportunity for that, there is just a grey area to bridge the gap from classic to Z. This is untapped potential. So it is unnecessary to start with Z Movies. You can begin with the early movies. Movies 1-3 already work well enough, but they are missing the Red Rebbon Army and Chichi so Movie 1 could be substituted for movie 4 the Path to Power where the Red Ribbon Army is the main threat and acts as an introduction, then you can have 2, and 3 pick up from there. On the Upside we get a cooler intro to the cast, an obscure location of Chiaotzu's kingdom that can act as an interesting main base for the cast, and Tien is no longer a nomad living in solitude and could be a more active/regular character. Maybe even Tien/Launch get to have a Daughter. But the downside is that we never got a movie recapping the Piccolo Sagas, so Piccolo like Vegeta is also at risk of becoming Non-Cannon by your rules. That goes for Chichi to, but all you have to do is have the group enter the real World Martial Arts Tournament as teens and mix in a revenge plot basically make up an original story that would finish what those 3 movies started that recaps Piccolo’s Sagas. I understand why this might be a deal breaker.

Expansion past the Z movies

If you don’t want to adapt cannon movies; you can always expand on the Ultimate timeline with Supplemental material like from Dragon Ball Heroes and games. Exploring Demon characters, Hearts' crew, Xeno counterparts, Yamcha's Glass Clan tsundere girlfriend 

If done, I recommend using the Heroes manga for reference over the anime because it feels like they at least put more effort into it even if it’s rushed

Maybe include Shallot and Giblet from Dragon Ball Legends. The descendants of the SSG might be interesting if paired with Cumber's character. If you do adapt the Super Heroes manga; cannon characters like Frieza and Cell would need replacements after all, but there is no shortage in that department. 

If you choose to continue into Super's timeline you could avoid the anime's events and go with the Manga cannon to be different from your usual What Ifs or you could focus strictly on the Super movies. 

You can also bring in Ova Specials such as Yo Son Goku and His Friends Return (2008), either version of Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans. This would be a good means to introduce Tuffle related characters beyond Hatchiyack such as Baby and other Machine Mutants. Or Kamen and Oren who resemble him. This could even be a means to differentiate the Xeno characters from the Ultimate Timeline, to having a GT like timeline where some threats are substituted/ added or subtracted off. 

Mixing the characters and arcs together 

With ALL of these scientists and various mechanical opponents that have various opportunities to be upgraded could bleed into each other's stories more.

 -Androids 13, 14, and 15 gaining regenerative abilities from the Big Gete Star's remains. So they could be even more like Cell. Also, lean into the Dub talk of free will being overrated for 13's character. If Super 13 managed to kill Goku like Cell, he would lose his purpose, and then you could develop his character more from there. Heck, when Future Trunks encounters 13, a cool moment would be Trunks having the perfect counter to his ideological questions. Maybe even forming an ally, after all his Father Turles was always good at making former enemies into allies. 

-World's Strongest tournament is a Golden opportunity to introduce Hercule into the story early on. His status as the most recent World Martial Arts Champion allows him to skip the preliminaries much like Roshi and these 2 could be paired up for most of the arc with some back and forth, maybe Bulma throws in a few verbal jabs as well. This also could present Dr-Wheelo a backer in the form of Hercule's enemy Jaguar which could tie Dr Wheelo directly into Bio Broly. 

 Dr. Wheelo could make a come back in his Heroes upgraded humanoid form after forming an alliance with Jaguar. Being the lead scientist to the Bio-Broly. He's already got the Bio-Men and as long as they see eye to eye, Jaguar wouldn't mind funding Wheelo's research into him gaining the Ultimate Body. Since the Z-Warriors are celebrities or at least some members are more well known than others. Dr W might have stronger Bio-Men based off of our Heroes, but after seeing Broly's rampage. He recognizes Broly as the Strongest specimen that he has longed for. Hence motivation for Bio-Broly to be the vessel for his mind to inhabit, but some meddling kids ruined his life's work and it ended in a horror movie level of failure. 

 -Android 21, Dr. Lychee, Janemba, even GT all were stories where previous villains return from the dead in mass. So to avoid repeat, you could mix and cherry pick these stories together for an extended arc with multiples twists and turns to keep the Heroes and Audience on their toes. 

The Heroes are fighting off the invasion of past adversaries when suddenly, 21's inhibiting waves shuts down both the invading forces and our Heroes at once. The upside is that Earth is safe, but the downside is that it forces her to recklessly speed up her plans forward becoming the wild card that is hunting both heroes and villains alike while they finish their feuds, but in a similar manner as FighterZ where everyone is capped around the same level.

Metal Cooler

Save Super SSJ + Spirit Bomb for another occasion like as a means in finishing off Metal Cooler since the original ending of over powering the Big Gete Star didn’t make since by the movie’s own logic, but channeling in pure energy from life sources all over and pumping it into the planet at break neck pace when it’s attempting to suck Goku dry would fit. Heck, maybe Turles could even suggest it, after his years of bleeding planets dry and experiencing a Spirit Bomb to the face.

Broly

I am unsure if Broly killing Goku is the right move thematically, but if it’s centered around everyone pushing beyond SSJ, and Broly being a relic of the past trying to make everyone accept being forever under his boot only for Gohan to truly transcend him in the end. It could work, especially with Goku passing on the torch to the future. I am just not fully sold on Broly being the guy to kill Goku, because Cell was the culmination of everything that came before him. Then again, Broly could represent the sheer savagery aspect of the Saiyan race both Goku and Gohan reject that Broly personifies. So it almost feels like fate in a way like Goku paved the path for Gohan to run the race he couldn’t do himself.

Bojack Unbound

Turles and Bojack are both Space Pirates. Have some fun with that. Heck, as much more of a smooth talker Turles can be than Vegeta, he could appeal to Bojack's sense of Adventure or offer him some thrills only Earth or another place in outer space he can provide as a tour guide. Turles might even be able to plant some seeds of rebellion into Bojack's crew and to form allies. 

Could be an opportunity to flesh out Kogu’s character. Since he is the only other Heran outside of Bojack to transform, I assume he is the 2nd strongest and as hedonistic and arrogant as he was, it wouldn’t be surprising if he started/ attempted a mutiny, maybe backed by Zangya who wanted out after being betrayed. Heck, maybe they both survive, but Kogu’s character can develop  after being influenced by Turles in some form or fashion. 

If Zangya is getting a redemption then have her gain her own Mountain Dew transformation like Bojack but have it take place as a means of character development, like she is rebelling or making a last stand. Zangya could also transform for Krillin's sake to in a later story. 

Fusion Reborn

Since Janemba is literally pure evil muck personified onto a teenage oni. When he absorbs a pure soul such as Gohan, that could actually taint his purity and give him some character traits making him less feral. We could actually work in that Shin Budokai Mob Boss Janemba persona hinted at. Or at least have unstoppable Rebellious Teen in place of 17 and 18. 

Heck maybe we could have Janemba go through some phases. Starting out like an unstoppable innocent Baby form, the Oni Teen gains some clarity after absorbing some pure souls, but still goes on a power trip like 17 and 18. Afterwards, toward the endgame Janemba's character makes another change due to a survival mode where the essence of the most recent Evil Soul's energy, specifically that of a Kingpin influences him making him more and more ruthless, sadistic, and calculating as time goes on. Truly acting like a Mob Boss. We could even use Black Janemba from Heroes as the last transformation. Or we could keep the 2 forms exclusively, just having the mindshift in the 2nd form.

Implementing GT

You could implement some GT characters/arcs into the Ultimate timeline like Tuffles replacing Cerulians as the anti-Saiyans. Or create a connection between the 2 races. 

Oren and Karmin exist as perfect substitute twins for 17/18 and Baby.

If you continue with Super Heroes manga then there are the Xeno counterparts that sort of represent GT to take into consideration. So you could have Ultimate timeline have one race and Xeno timeline have the other. Along with other odds and ends to flesh them both out.

Playing it fast and loose

This is the perfect breeding ground for rebooting 2-Dimensional movie villains if you want to. So feel free to take some liberties like have the group heading off to Planet Slug in hopes of a Namekian made some Dragon Balls as a Namek Saga substitute. Planet Slug is an ice planet and full of Demons as well. -Since Slug is pure evil and is basically King Piccolo, he could have had a split at some like him and a pure good counterpart like Kami could exist out there, heck, maybe that could even have reincarnated and have an inversed Piccolo Jr. as a potential character/ Dragon Ball maker. The Dragon might be inert or maybe this Namekian is imprisoned, but has hidden the last Dragon Ball away, maybe he is in hiding, biding his time to purify this Evil Planet as it's Guardian. 

Turles and Gohan

Maybe Gohan is partly why Turles heads to Earth, he is always on the scout for talent and a Saiyan child would be just another reason to visit Earth, especially since his Father is now dead and the boy is in need of Saiyan guidance. This being a more naive Gohan without his Father, without a tested bond with Mr Piccolo, and with no knowledge of his Saiyan heritage. Turles could potentially persuade Gohan into taking a shortcut to power and eating the Fruit of the Tree of Might. Like his Ancestors before would use others as stepping stones to their paths of power. So at least tempting him first before Goku can arrive can act as a test for what Gohan has already learned from his time with Goku and Piccolo. Then after rejecting that power and later Gohan's true untapped potential being the key to stopping Turles in Vegeta fashion would be a little more poetic because while he did embrace his Saiyan nature like Turles initially wanted, he also embraced his Earthling nature and protected everyone. This could change the nature of their relationship moving forward. (ps I like the idea that Piccolo doesn't officially start taking Gohan under his wing as his student until after Turles men are killed. Before he was just giving pointers, toughening Gohan up, planting seeds into his head that Chichi/Goku might not agree with, but most importantly Piccolo would be dabbling with/experimenting with Gohan's potential that he displayed against Garlic Jr. So the over all product is about the same, just out of order) 

Future Timeline

Androids 14 and 15 as characterized by the Dub likely would have a Gangsta Paradise style post apocalyptical world. So Future Trunks might've needed to adapt to that style of living in order to survive. It's interesting imagining how they would aimlessly destroy the Earth in a different manner than 17 and 18.

Dragon Ball Super 052

For fuck’s sake, Trunks...

There’s too many characters in this thing.  Bulma is refurbishing the time machine for the assault on Goku Black, but she’s also got the Pilaf gang doing gofer work in the lab.  Also, her dad is helping, and Kid Trunks is around too.  Well, maybe the problem isn’t that there’s too many characters.  It’s that this montage of working on the time machine could have just been edited down to a few seconds, or cut altogether.

Seriously, the way they keep cramming Pilaf scenes into this arc, you’d think Emperor Pilaf’s agent negotiated some sort of amazing contract with Toei.  He doesn’t have any technical skills, and seems to leave all the manual labor to Mai and Shu, but he still hangs around anyway, making insipid comments about everything.  He’s kind of like the Zamasu Saga’s answer to Giru from GT. 

And I guess that makes Kid Trunks like GT Pan, because he has zero impact on the plot, and he keeps hanging around anyway in a desperate bid to be taken seriously.  He goes with Mai to fetch some doohickey in “Lab 2″, which is an empty storage room with a pile of stuff in one corner, and he just pulls out random objects hoping she’ll be impressed with how he found what they needed.  Then he finds a hacksaw and some cable and ties it around his chest like Future Trunks’ sword.  That just looks dangerous. 

Meanwhile, Future Trunks doesn’t have much to do while he’s waiting for Bulma to finish his ride.  She tells him it’s going well, but it’ll take a full day to manufacture enough fuel for the trip.  Trunks is amazed because it took Future Bulma a year to make the same fuel, but this Bulma has the advantage of working with the full resources of Capsule Corp.  Trunks is just fortunate that this version of Bulma recently discovered how to make this fuel.  It was the stuff she had Monaka help her with in Episode 44.

So Trunks goes outside, where Piccolo and Krillin have been tasked with repairing the grounds after the fight with Goku Black.  He asks about Gohan and they tell him he’s left the world of fighting behind.  That... doesn’t make sense, because Gohan begged Piccolo to whip him into shape after the whole Golden Frieza thing.  They were training together in the Universe 6 arc, and the only reason they stopped was so Piccolo could participate in the tournament. 

Anyway, Trunks tells Krillin and Piccolo the story of how the Gohan in his world trained him before he died, which is weird because you would think they’d know all of this.  Well, maybe not Kirllin, but Piccolo should definitely know, because he overheard Trunks telling Goku about it when they first met.  The point is that Trunks regrets not thanking Gohan when he last saw him after the Cell Games, and Krillin suggests that he go visit Gohan at the university where he... works?  Studies?  Interns?  I have no idea what Gohan’s status is in this.  Is he a student or part of the faculty?

Anyway, Trunks eats soft-serve ice cream with Gohan and he can’t believe it.

He meets Gohan’s family and can’t believe it.

Pan mugs him and he can’t believe it.

And as they sit down for dinner, Trunks realizes that this could have been his life in his own timeline.  He had saved the world from the androids and Cell, and they were rebuilding.  If Goku Black hadn’t shown up, then he could have been having this idyllic life with Bulma and Mai and that cat from episode 47. 

Note to self, I need to commission some art of a scene like this, but with Xeno Trunks instead of Blunks, and Luffa in Mai’s seat, kind of slouching all badass, maybe eating a lobster in one hand like it’s a burger.

I say this because this is the sort of thing I envision for Future Trunks and Future Bulma in the Time Patrol continuity.  I’ve been writing a fic about that for a while now, and they don’t get featured as much as I’d like, but I enjoy writing scenes where Bulma comes to Toki Toki City to check on the equipment, and she gets to spend time with her son and meet his rowdy ancestor.  Maybe this is why I hate the Zamasu Saga so much.  It’s precisely because Goku Black ruined this sort of happy life for these characters, and a story where that happens is the exact opposite of the sort of thing I wanted to see. 

So Trunks thanks them for the meal and heads home, feeling refreshed.  Seeing Gohan living the dream has reminded him of what he’s fighting for, and it proves that he can succeed.  The thing Trunks needs to understand is that all this peaceful stuff he finds in this world is thanks to him.  Beerus and Whis can scold him for meddling with history, but fuck ‘em.  In this world, Gohan got to live!  He has a wife and baby daughter!  And two arms!  Even if Trunks rolls snake-eyes for the rest of his life, no one can take away what he’s done for this world. 

When he gets back to Capsule Corp, he asks where Goku is, and they tell him he went with Beerus and Whis to Universe 10.  Wait what?   Yeah, when Goku Black fought the real Goku, Whis thought Black’s energy seemed familiar, and it reminded him of a guy he knows in Universe 10, so they’re going to check it out.

And then we get a glimpse at this shithead.  I’m pretty sure this is the first and last time we get to see Zamasu keeping his mouth shut, so enjoy it while you can.

Dr. Stone chapter 152 reaction and spoilers

I hadn’t really thought about it last week (probably because I’m too used to things like SG-1 rather than Stargate (1994) for example, but all those scenes with Gen indicated that the Americans know some understanding of Japanese. I’m glad that we’re addressing this head on like Stargate rather than just kind of conveniently understanding each other like SG-1. It’ll also be interesting to see if miscommunication comes up as an issue here and how that gets addressed if it does.

lol I love how the solution to Dr. Taiju is Taiju is Dr. Taiju rather than Senkuu just swapping surnames with Taiju instead.

I love how Taiju is immediately impressed by the other side possessing something he doesn’t understand like how he’s endlessly impressed when Senkuu talks science lol

NGL I like Xeno and I think that like Magma and Tsukasa he’s got good Yamcha/Kuririn/Piccolo/Vegeta/etc…potential here. I’m hoping that they can eventually come to some kind of understanding, because it would be good to create global allies since this is a global problem.

The thing is it’s also kind of impractical to have Corn City in that you have to make a multi-month journey to get your corn periodically. However, that does fit the kind of colonizer/carpet bagger narrative in that the Kingdom of Science will have to establish some kind of colony if they don’t plan on bringing the corn back to Japan. This also brings up some questions on the viability of growing corn in Japan and if perhaps instead of ethanol they should be looking into turning soybeans into diesel fuel.

Choosing to make an aircraft carrier in some ways reminds me of the earliest conflicts with Tsukasa over morality and the direction to take the stone world . It’s going to be interesting to see if ultimate over the course of the story we end up with the world returned to what Senkuu knew and all the consequences that come with it or we find an eventual balance between the positive aspects of both Senkuu and Tsukasa’s ideologies from earlier. I mean like how you can use an aircraft carrier for both science and war and maybe we’ll see that things need to move more towards science than war as the story progresses. So far Senkuu’s perspective is winning and it’ll be interesting to see if he continues to win and we eventually learn the consequences of that or if he eventually has to rethink and modify though not completely abandon his perspective as any of us have to learn to do as we move out of our teens towards our twenties and thirties.

what's been you favorite moment for each of the main characters in super???

goku: the half-second of a thought where he goes “beerus is stronger than me, i shouldn’t pick a fight with him”. it was such a cool moment for me because for oNCE goku put aside his personal desire to fight the strongest person for the betterment of literally THE ENTIRE POPULATION. i really do vibe with the headcanon that vegeta will have to restrain him one day because he’ll pick a fight with the wrong person. 

vegeta: i want to say the “MY BULMA!!!!” moment, but i also want to talk about how he is with cabba. putting aside a selfish wish in the tournament of power to wish for another saiyan’s universe to be put back together is just another nail in the coffin to the death of old vegeta! 

gohan: when he’s fighting lavender in the mini tournament for the xenos, and he gets in touch with his fighting side. i love getting to see gohan be intelligent in battle! he’s lost confidence in himself and it’s just so much fun to watch him like battle for like a half a moment. and then having that remind him that he needs to stay strong to protect his family!

future trunks: getting to slice up zamasu like a subway sandwich. i LOVED THAT. him getting to use ki as a sword and splitting zamasu down the middle was so satisfying! i wish they would have given vegeta this kind of a moment with frieza during resurrection f saga/movie!

piccolo: EVERY. MOMENT. WITH. PAN. i love that he’s accepted his plae in the world. he’s a fighter, but he’s nowhere near where goku and vegeta or even gohan are in power level. he doesn’t kid himself. and he loves pan! it’s such a cool circle back to him training and being with gohan when he was little, but he knows better now.

android 18: FIGHTING FOR LOOOOOVE. i loved getting to see her fight for krillin in the TOP. it was such a wonderful bunch of scenes. and then her self-sacrifice for her brother, that was beautiful.

Biography: the same as canon Future Gohan, but with some changes and explanations to become canon for him which include:

Cooler arrives on Earth after Goku kills Frieza and King Cold

Yajirobe does not give Gohan an extra sensu bean before he leaves Korin Tower

Gohan transforms into a Super Saiyan after Icarus is killed from protecting him

In a Super Saiyan Rage, Gohan rips Cooler’s tail and limbs off except one arm, allowing him to charge up a Supernova. He then sends Cooler into the sun with a Hyper Masenko

Salza sneak attacks Gohan with a ki blade while his guard is down, giving Gohan his scar. He is finished off by Piccolo like in the movie.

Sometime later, Cooler merges with the Big Geti Star and takes over New Namek, all the dragon clan Namekians are killed in the process (meaning no more dragon balls).

Hoi visits Earth and with the assistance of the Z Warriors, opens a sealed music box with a wish from the dragonballs, releasing the demon Hirudigarn and the Konatsa-jin hero Minosha.

Gohan and Minosha share a brotherly bond similar to Trunks and Tapion

Gohan is forced to kill Minosha with his sword in order to kill Hirudigarn with him

He inherits Minosha’s Sword and later passes it on to Trunks

Goku dies from a heart virus

Bulma is pregnant but is unsure who the father is. Yamcha fights Vegeta and self destructs as a last resort, it fails as bad as Choutzu’s did against Nappa

Trunks is Bulma and Yamcha’s son (instead of Vegeta’s)

The Z Warriors (except Vegeta) all teach their techniques to Gohan before they are killed by the Androids

Future Trunks is killed (instead of Gohan losing his arm) during their first battle against the Androids years later
