Ya Mama, dozens of times,
dozens of times i‘ve been standing in front of your closed door, crying in silence. Too afraid to show you my broken heart, too afraid to leave you worried.
Ya Mama, is it normal? that i have seen my face coverd in tears more often than i’ve seen it glowing with a smile? That i am too sick to eat, because my stomach is always filled with sorrow?
Mama, do you know that my cold hands come from my frozen heart? And everytime i ask you to warm them up, i am asking you to take me back inside where i have come from; because i cant seem to find a place on this earth where i belong to.

The Verge of Exhaustion
So this is like. A knock off shitpost of me and my bestie in the edge of sleep cause I thought it would be funny.
It’s super rushed but like. I need to get out of writer’s block it’s so bad. It’s making me tweak. And art block.
Tumblr media
It’s about 4:00 A.M.
Two people are vacationing in No Name key. One is doe faced. Brown hair cut a little shaggily. An insomniac. The other, a mainly green (with black and grey stripes) haired individual. A little more fox like. A narcoleptic.
Faith, the insomniac, couldn’t sleep. She sat in her hotel room, bored. Next door, Aesir, the narcoleptic, was sound asleep. Although he was suffering from a weird night terror, he appeared calm in bed. That was until Faith barged in and violently shook him awake.
“WAKE UP.” She yelled. He groaned in response and blinked a few times, before sitting up.
“What.” Aesir grumbled, rubbing his eyes.
“I’m bored, let’s go outside.” Faith said, grabbing Aesir and pulling him out of bed, not even giving him a chance to make a decision.
The two went down the elevator and in the lobby. It was oddly quiet. Bellhops were still checking a few people in. Other people were asleep in chairs in the lobby.
When they walked outside, it was still quiet. This key in specific didn’t get much attraction but it was too silent. There were cars pulled over with people asleep inside.
“That’s weird.” Faith commented as they walked.
“No reallyyyy.” Aesir retorted, snickering.
“I hope you get hit by a car.” Faith said, biting back a laugh.
“Uh huh ooookay.”
“Don’t uh huh me.”
Just then, a car came swerving down the road and straight into a telephone pole, crashing. The pair ran to the car, only to find the man peacefully asleep.
Aesir shook the guy a little and felt for a pulse. The man was dead, but he shouldn’t have been. There was only damage to the car, not to him.
“Bro something weird is going on.” Aesir spoke.
“Yeah. Weird.” Faith responded.
***
The two decided to wander down the streets, checking places out. Everywhere was the same. People were dead asleep. Literally.
“I think this means free McDonald’s.” Faith said as they began to walk back to the hotel.
“Yeah you’d love that.” Aesir said, holding back a laugh. Faith looked at him with a face that could only be one compared to an underwhelmed chef tasting unseasoned food.
“Don’t look at me like that.” Aesir whined and crossed his arms. Faith shook her head.
***
When they got back to the hotel, they grabbed their stuff and got to Aesir’s car. They jumped in the car and Aesir started to drive off.
“Sooo where are we going?” Faith asked.
“McDonald’s so you don’t eat the car, and then home so I can get some stuff to keep myself awake.” Aesir responded with a yawn.
“If you fall asleep I’ll kill you.”
“No the sleep will kill me, idiot.”
“Bitch.”
“Shhhhhh let me drive.”
The drive was a relatively quiet one. Faith hooked her phone up to the AUX. she then took it with her when Aesir pulled into a McDonald’s parking lot.
“Don’t take forever.” Aesir said, head lulling to the side.
“Yeah whatever.” Faith got out and closed the door. She walked into the building.
Aesir, while waiting, started to fall asleep. It only took a few minutes really. He was tired.
Faith was walking back to the car when she saw him, dead asleep. She opened the car and grabbed him, shaking him viciously. He wasn’t responsive. She then slapped him. He wasn’t responsive.
“WAKE UP THIS ISNT FUNNY.” She screamed. Finally Aesir jolted awake.
“Island.” He said and reversed out the parking spot.
“What.”
“Island. I had this wackass dream bro. We need to go to this island that’s like. Somewhere.”
“Are you sure it wasn’t just a schizo thing?”
“No like I was asleep, and then this like manta ray appeared and was like ”Go to island” and then porcelain doll came and attacked it and then I think I woke up.”
“You mean I woke you up.”
“Same thing.”
***
The two drove for about three hours. Crashed cars and bodies littered the streets.
“Do you think anyone’s alive?” Aesir asked, pulling into his driveway.
“Uhhhh maybe? I don’t know? Don’t ask me.” Faith responded, getting out the car once it was parked.
They walked into the small house.
“I’m gonna take a shower.” Aesir said and walked down a hallway, entering the bathroom. He came back out in 30 minutes with some fresh clothes and two pill bottles.
“You’re on meds now?” Faith raised an eyebrow. This man had been pretty adamant on working through things on his own, plus, not much got past her since they lived together.
“Oh these aren’t meds.” Aesir said and grabbed a bag from under the sink.
“So what are they?”
“Ummmm. Something.” He began to fill the bag with snacks from the pantry, and some other things from the fridge.
“Bitch, don’t play with me right now.” Faith leaned up on the counter.
“It’s…. Speed.” Aesir said and looked at Faith, who had a concerned and disapproving look.
“I thought you were over this problem.”
“I am. But now I need to stay awake so you know.” He shrugged and walked over to Faith.
“You better chuck those when we get to your made up island.” Faith demanded, as they walked back to the car.
“Yeah I will I will.” Aesir sighed, chucking the bag in the back and taking two pills. He backed out the driveway and drove off, heading to the dock.
The car ride was overly calm. Some small part of them were thankful for this weird apocalypse. No more Florida traffic.
Everything was going smooth until a man ran out into the road, and the car hit him.
“What the FUCK.” Faith screamed.
“I swear on my life I didn’t see him.” Aesir screeched to a halt and parked the car, getting out.
The two ran to the man, who was struggling to pull himself up from the road. Aesir slowly lent a hand, picking the guy up and letting him lean on him.
Faith was on the other side, helping the guy walk.
“I’m so sorry. Oh my god are you okay?” Faith asked the man, who seemed to be barely responsive. The man nodded a little, groaning and grumbling in response.
The two loaded the injured man in the car. They jumped back in the front and continued to drive.
“So what happens when we get to the dock?” Faith spoke up.
“I gotta steal a boat.” Aesir responded, glancing over at the injured man, who was grumbling in the back.
“Boy you can’t drive a boat.”
“I’ll figure it out, trust.”
“No! I don’t trust. You can barely drive. How are you gonna drive a boat?”
“YouTube tutorial.”
“We are gonna die.”
“Noooooo.”
Faith sighed. There was no point in stressing at this point. They were lucky they were alive.
***
When they arrived to the dock, they helped the injured man out the car. As Aesir was helping the man out, the man pulled a small concealed pocket knife and stabbed it into Aesir’s shoulder. He then kicked Faith back, screaming.
“You’ll never make it to the dock!” He yelled, a twisted look on his face.
“OW.” Aesir grabbed the small pocket knife and took it out his arm.
Faith got up from being doubled over.
“Aw hell nah, we helped a demon.” She said, looking over at Aesir. He looked like he was about to pounce on the guy. “Don’t do whatever you’re thinking about.”
“Go around and grab him.” Aesir whispered.
“No.” Faith whispered back sternly. The man began to approach.
“Quick cmon.” Aesir gestured at the man.
There was no chance to react when the man swung at Faith, nails clawing the skin of her cheek, drawing blood. Aesir tackled the man to the ground, both of them hitting the ground with a thud. Faith dropped down and helped to hold the man.
With closer inspection of the thrashing man’s face, his pupils were noticeably triangular shaped.
Aesir stabbed the man with the same pocket knife, right in the lung. He twisted the knife, the sick sound of blood bubbling and air escaping the wound could be heard.
“This is so insane.” Faith said, a frown and a look of disgust on her face.
“He swung first.” Aesir said and tossed the knife, far.
“Yeah okay whatever.” Faith said quickly, letting go of the man, who was now just gurgling on blood, due to the nature of his wound.
The two got up and and made their way to the dock. Aesir was leading, since he seemed to know which boat to take.
“That one.” Aesir said, pointing to a large cruise ship.
“You’re insane.” Faith groaned as they went towards the ship.
“Trust me.” Aesir smiled. As if his smile added any ease to the situation.
***
On the ship, it was quiet. Aesir and Faith were loaded up in the cockpit. They punched the coordinates in the navigation and sat back.
A few hours passed and the two started to talk again.
“I’m so BORED.” Aesir started up.
“Girl, me too.” Faith sighed and spun in the chair she was sat in.
“We should go explore.”
“What if there are more demons on the ship.”
“There aren’t. Trust meeee.”
“Okay well I’m bringing a weapon just in case.” Faith said and dug around in the snack bag, pulling out a hand gun.
“Where’d you get that?”
“Stole it off a dead officer.”
“Oh okay.”
The pair silently left the cockpit. A mixed playlist was playing over the speakers of the ship, since the lack of background noise was irritating the both of them.
No one was on the ship. The pool, the bar, even the bathrooms were empty. No signs of any life. It had both of them on edge.
They had come to the sleeping quarters, and were now walking down the hall.
“I told you, no demons.” Aesir had a triumphant smile on his face, until a door click was heard. Click after click, doors were unlocking, and people were trudging out their rooms.
“No demons my ass.” Faith huffed, loading her gun as the hallway started to crowd.
The two of them started to run, as both of them didn’t have much fighting experience and they also had limited ammo.
Soon, they go split, as the twisting stairwells between floors and the hallways turned into a maze. Both were trying to head back to the cockpit while avoiding swinging fists and gnashing teeth.
It wasn’t an easy task. Both of them were getting battered by these people, or whatever force was disguising themselves as people. They were bruised and battered. They were being pushed to exhaustion. All the running was wearing them out.
The pair reconnected in the cockpit, barricading the door.
Faith was holding up but Aesir looked exhausted again. The only thing keeping him awake was the aggressive banging on the door.
“Could you get the bag for me?” He asked. Faith nodded and got the bag. She pulled out a bottle of water and cracked it open, taking a sip. Aesir pulled out the pill bottle and took another two pills. After a bit, he was back up. “We need first aid bro.” He started to search the room.
“Just put some ice on it.”
“You right.”
***
More hours passed. The door was weak to the immense amount of people trying to get in on the other side.
Aesir had gone through dancing, then karaoke, then just staring out the window. Faith just watched as it happened.
Just then, Aesir started speaking again.
“Bro is that a plane?” He squinted, pointing out the window.
“I think it’s going down.” Faith followed the plane with her eyes.
“Nahhhh. Oh, wait, shit you right.”
“That’s crazy.”
“Maybe the pilot died.”
Just then, the door to the cockpit broke open. Zombified people started to crawl over each other, pushing through the barricade.
“I have an idea.” Aesir said, glancing back at the commotion. The plan they were watching had landed in the water. Aesir aimed the ship right towards it. “We’re gonna jump off.”
“What.”
“Trust me.”
Aesir grabbed Faith’s wrist, pulling her out the side window.
“Also just take your shoes off so you can swim easier.” He said, sliding his own shoes off.
“Do I have to?” Faith frowned, watching as her friend stripped down to his undergarments.
“If you wanna live.” Aesir jumped in the water. Faith soon followed suit, but fully dressed.
They both started to swim towards the island. A loud crash was heard in the distance as the ship collided with the downed plane. Then there was the sound of a smaller motor. Another boat.
Aesir and Faith were pulled onto the boat. That’s where they met three more people. Dave, Mateo, and Linda. Faith took one look at Linda, and then turned to Aesir, who was already staring at Dave and Mateo.
“I can’t do this.” Aesir whispered.
“You’ll be fine just be normal.” Faith whispered back.
“You look like hell.” Mateo commented, earning a glare from Linda.
“It’s not like we look any better.” Linda spoke up.
“Where are you coming from?” Dave asked, his voiced laced with exhaustion.
“Florida” Aesir responded.
“Figures.” Mateo mumbled, chuckling a little. Linda shot him another glare.
“We’re from Cali.” She spoke up and cleared her throat slightly.
“Oh shit, for real? We shoulda went to Cali sooner.” Aesir quickly responded with a smile.
“What?” Dave spoke.
“What?” Aesir responded, a big grin on his face.
“I’m sorry about him. He has issues.” Faith broke in to try and save the conversation. She had scooted closer to Linda.
“Man. You got issues too, don’t even start right now.” Aesir rolled his eyes.
“Don’t roll your eyes at me.”
“You are not my mother.”
“I should be. You can’t do ANYTHING without me.”
“Whateverrrrrr.”
The boat was approaching the island, and the two groups had slowly become more aquatinted with each other. Dave had fallen asleep on the boat, but ended up waking up a bit later.
After passing a certain point, when it was announced it was safe to sleep, Aesir clocked out. Sprawled across Dave and Mateo, in the likeness of a dead dog. Completely asleep in a matter of minutes. Faith had allowed Linda to lull asleep on her shoulder, while she herself kinda drifted off to sleep. Mateo nodded off in Dave’s direction, and Dave was already back asleep.
