As it is the season, can you share some Halloween headcanons with us please?

Louis starts wearing sweaters the moment the temperature dips below 70 F/21 C at night. He has a whole collection of medium-weight sweaters for October and November (ribbed cashmere for autumn, alpaca cable knit for winter). This is also when the the heated blanket Lestat bought him comes out, it's like a heat lamp for a lizard

Every year, they take a couple's trip to New England to look at the best fall leaves. Provincetown is their favorite for longer stays, but they had a great time in Salem. Louis loved the macabre history and Lestat loved the tourist traps

When the humidity drops, Lestat's curls get less poofy and more defined. Louis always musses them up as covertly as he can so they're fluffy again

Sometimes they put spiced cider or mulled wine to simmer on the stovetop just for the scent and warmth

Walmart and brass buttons are good, but every holiday season they go to big box stores just to stare at the seasonal items. Fall is no exception with all the brightly colored plastic masks, glittery silk leaves, different shapes and sizes of pumpkins and gourds, strange costumes, candy in shiny wrappers, and horror movie posters.

Lestat is the most festive of the two of them in terms of holiday kitsch, but Louis finds it cute so he always hires professional decorators to make Lestat's Halloween vision come to life (there's a theme every year)

Louis' Halloween guilty pleasure is slasher movies. He pretends to find them low-brow and tacky, but he's actually transfixed by the gore. He has to feed first though or the Wes Craven corn syrup blood FX make him a little nutty

His real favorite activity is handing out Halloween candy (he's determined to be The Good House) and always has more king-sized candy bars than the neighbors. He doesn't like to dress up for this part of the evening, but he always puts a little fake blood around his mouth and lets his fangs show

Lestat goes the full nine yards for the kids, alternating between full tradvamp regalia and sexy vampire slutfit. He's done normal and sexy versions of Dracula (Lugosi AND Oldman), Count Orlok, Edward Cullen, Damon Salvatore, Spike Buffy, Barnabas Collins, David Lost Boys, Count von Count, and even Bunnicula (that one was bedroom only, a Playboy bunny costume with fake blood made of carrot juice)

He has gotten plastic vampire teeth stuck on his real fangs (twice)

Lestat insists on couple's costumes for their Halloween party every year. In exchange for his cooperation, Louis is allowed to choose his preferred character of the two. Lestat always makes sure any non-hot characters are properly sexy-fied when he's done with them though. They've done Gomez and Morticia, Victor van Dort and Emily, Jack and Sally, Beetlejuice and Lydia, Chucky and Tiffany, The Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit, to name a few. And once werewolves (he thinks it's funny).

Victor Van Dort has always been a shy guy, there’s no other way to put it. Since he was a kid he’s been more on the quiet side, he likes to observe things and try and look at them from different perspectives, find beauty in every ray of light. But when it comes to sharing his amazing mind and ideas, he always hesitates. Some people might confuse this with him being snobbish, since his upbringing did leave him with a rather strong penchant for elegant, yet over-expensive clothes and pairing this with his not-so-outgoing personality can make it easy to misjudge him. Either way, he’s a soft-spoken boy with a big heart and little stutter, that can talk for hours on end about his favorite classical paino pieces or his latest reads to those close to him. If you manage to approach the elusive boy and strike up a conversation, you’ll be able to see that even if he’s not much of a talker he does take care to make sure everything he says comes from the heart.

Welcome to the coast…

The term noveau riche would be perfect to describe Victor’s parents. His father was lucky enough to stumble upon the will of a long-lost relative that had, for some reason, decided that William Van Dort would be the perfect candidate to inherit his multi-million fishing company. William had worked as an assistant accountant before that, which came in handy because it gave him the ability to at least understand his new business’ finances, even if the rest took a lot more to figure out. And thus, William, his wife Nell, and three-year-old Victor’s lives changed forever. While he grew up as a very creative yet frail young man, who would spend most of his free time away in his room, reading or playing the piano, William started doing more and more hours at the company and Nell made it her goal to become a fancy socialite, like the ones she used to read about in magazines. That is how Victor met his “cousin” and (only) friend, Victoria. The girl was part of one of the most renowned households in Taormina, Italy, so it was natural for Nell to push Victor towards her and herself towards the distinguished Lord and Lady Everglot. The kids were not really related, of course, but Nell and William put a lot of effort into squeezing themselves into the Everglots’ good graces and they were eventually accepted into the elite social circle. Unbeknownst to them this was because the Everglots, while prominently distinguished, were running out of the money their family had been spending for generations. So the relationship was mutually beneficial, even if none of them really considered the others friends. Lucky for Victor and Victoria, they actually found a companion in the other. To go through the lonely and dense Mediterranean nights together and complain about their over-bearing parents and their ardent desire to educate and mold their children into what they wished they could’ve been, never asking about what they dreamed of or needed themselves. 

Stay a while…

When Victor finished high school at 18, his parents decided the best thing would be for their son to study at an exclusive school somewhere in a different country. When they found out Victoria was going to Ancora University in Costa Serena, they followed suit and informed their son he'd be moving there after the summer. While Victor was happy to follow his friend, he wasn’t particularly thrilled about the idea of moving to a different continent in a month, still the thought of running away from his asphyxiating lifestyle, at least for a while, did excite him. He managed to convince his parents into paying for a double major at the university, studying English Literature and Poetry for himself and Enterprise Management for them. He’s at the top of his class in the first and manages the second, he’s not a bad student, he’s always been dedicated and intelligent, he just doesn’t much care for anything the career has to offer. On his free time, he takes turns reading and hanging around the beach, or covering some shifts playing the piano at The Sandbar and Harryhausen’s. Obviously, he tries to keep this from his parents, who would be horrified to know their son is working for someone, but it’s actually helped him come out of his shell a little and feel more independent.

Victoria Everglot (Cousin): Through thick and thin, through good and bad times, Victor and Victoria share more than the name. They’ve been friends since he can remember and he sees her as the most important person in his life. He’s glad to have his friend close to him. 

Emily Montague (Friend): They met a year ago when he first arrived at Costa Serena. The quirky woman and her unique way of looking at life both baffled and interested him, as they grew closer she became something of a protector for him, a stable presence he’d never had.

he had the support of the woman whom he thought birthed him, which overshadowed his father’s wishes for his son to become a doctor. though it was a debate among the household growing up, neither parent could deny pax’s talent. and despite how much his father argued, his mother would influence the boy to follow his heart.

if you ask pax song what his most treasured gift is, it would be the gold plated flute gifted to him by his mother. it was a graduation present intended to be used for traveling the world but he’s never truly taken it out of its case. other than for a quick polish, the pipe hardly sees the light of day. he feels unworthy, mostly.

his days as an orchestra flutist are a thing in the past. after a recent passing in the family, he’s returned home- close enough to be within driving distance of his adoptive parents’ house. and though, he does struggle to keep business afloat, he does intend, one day to buy a home where his parents could stay with him.

despite learning at an early age that he was a part of an illegal adoption, he’s considered himself lucky- being a part of the family he’s grown up with, despite his father’s pressures and their constant bickering, they are his real family.

Upcoming Sims Stuff

Yes, I do intend to get back to Newcrest Adventures and the Liddell-Van Dort family vacation in 2021 -- the December patch for skintones ended up taking me by surprise and made me miss a few days, but I’m back in the saddle and I have a couple of updates ready to go once I can get my head back in the queueing game. However, I also want to branch out into other stuff -- mainly because I’m getting kind of bored with the Newcrest Adventures save file as a whole. It doesn’t feel like there’s a lot more I can do with it right now that’s actually fresh and exciting, besides maybe a trip to Mt. Komorebi with one of my families (took advantage of the Origin sale to pick up the pack). I’m rather stuck in a rut when it comes to those five, and I don’t like it.

So! In 2021, I’m planning on starting a new save file, this one themed around doing various challenges! Specifically, I would like to do:

1. A Vampire: the Masquerade -- Bloodlines-themed challenge with an Alice Sim, focused around Alice becoming a Master Vampire and defeating the leader of a local vampire club in a duel, among other things

2. A Fallout 4-themed challenge with a Victor Sim, focused around “building up a settlement” and mastering the various ways to craft things in the game (like woodworking, knitting, robot-making, things like that)

3. A “Super Sim” challenge using a Sim born to a Spellcaster former-Island Ancestor from Sulani and Father Winter to get as many of the bonus traits as I can from the very beginning

I’m still banging out the rules of the three challenges, but I do know that, for the first two, I’d like to make over two neighborhoods to represent Bloodlines LA and the Fallout 4 Commonwealth, just for funsies. I’m just trying to figure out which ones. I’m MOSTLY settled on Brindleton Bay for the Commonwealth stand-in, since that world is supposed to be based on New England anyway, but I’m not sure about the Bloodlines neighborhood. Do you guys think it should be:

A) Del Sol Valley (obviously based on Hollywood, so a strong contender -- but, as noted, rather small world)

B) San MyShuno (the obvious “city” world, can start Alice off in an apartment, but again kinda small, doesn’t have much space for community lots)

C) Evergreen Harbor (maybe not really on-brand with the theme, but has both apartment lots and regular lots, and the docks make it feel at least somewhat Santa Monica-y)

Let me know what you think -- and if you have any suggestions for appropriate lots you’ve seen that I could download. :)

Dang... How does this dude from “Hell and Back” reminded me of Victor Van Dort a lot (especially the back flip but only reversed-flip)?

“Hell and Back” is a stop-motion animated film by ShadowMachine, a studio that does stop motion and 2D (and well-known for the show, “Robot Chicken”).

The movie was something like a “typical stop-motion animated film” that parodied from other stop-motion Halloween films (Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, Box Trolls, Coraline, ParaNorman). The stars included with T.J Miller (like this funny dude, since I like his roles in “Deadpool” movies, “Big Hero 6,” and “Emoji Movie.” Now I enjoyed his character in “Hell and Back” ), and Mila Kunis.

So yeah, for this character Remy - he’s like a parody of Victor Van Dort - only the difference in this film was that Remy’s a douchebag who did something stupid (*cough* Using the demon book *cough*). XD

Well, what I think of this film?

I actually enjoyed it. And I watched it like several times. In fact, I like it. XD

Yeah, there are some stuff that are not suitable (especially the “rape” joke/gag, which it’s not supposed to be funny), while it’s just a typical adult parodied film after “Robot Chicken” show. But there are others to laugh with, while it gives you to express “what the F” while watching it. In fact, I like the characters, Augie and Deema.

So, I give "Hell and Back” a C for this film.

Alice: Well, I've gotten into the habit of calling Victor "darling," and he tends to call me "love." And Smiler often refers to me as their "bestie," while I often refer to them as "goofball."

Smiler: [grinning] And I call Victor whatever pops into my head, and he calls me --

Victor: [softly] Sunshine.

Smiler: [blinks, looks at Victor]

Victor: [rubs the back of his head] It's -- you know the song, "You Are My Sunshine?" I -- I was thinking about it, and -- [shrug] You -- you are. My sunshine.

Smiler: [expression equal parts "touched" and "horrified realization that they have to come up with a legit pet name for Victor now"] ...oh.
