You go through hobbies so fast, you never care about them long enough for them to grow into something. I look back now, and I'm surprised being a good mother lasted as long as it did. Four years must've been a new record.

I'm sick and better all at the same time. I think I'm not as bad as I was before, but maybe I'm worse in a hidden way. Maybe, I'm secretly worse than I was before but, I've hidden it so well I don't even know it. I'll do everything I can to think about anything else.

I long for my home and my hometown to be two different places. I've always been moving but never far enough, I need to be so far that my gps has to load before reminding me where you are.

“I was young here. Riding the subway with my small book as though to defend myself against the same world: you are not alone, the poem said, in the dark tunnel.”
“But most of all, I like to watch people. Sometimes I ride the subway all day and look at them and listen to them. I just want to figure out who they are and what they want and where they are going.”

You made me believe it was selfish, to ask to be held by those who are supposed to never want to let me go. You question why I now flinch when someone puts their arm around me, we fear what we've never known.

“If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much that you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”
