edit: i was really angry and sad when typing this out so i worded this badly. i know the journalist can’t say murdered when the police haven’t called it what which isn’t surprising considering how often police fail the indigenous community. however this headline should have at least said “found dead” or something like that

The spirits Göahi and Xolotl hid behind Hania as they were perceived. They were not accustom to others being able to see them, let alone perceive what they were. This one was different. Special even. Oh wait this woman is still talking to her. She is complimenting her? okay cool.

"Oh yeah. I... I like to keep it simple." Simple? Simple? How is her anything simple. Oh yeah, Hi I was bitten by a magicactive (You see its like radioactive but since the spider came from the Hopi spirit Kokyangwuti, A.K.A. Grandmother Spider, a magical being) Spider that gave her spider powers, much in the same way the radioactive ones did the other Spider-Totems, except Grandmother Spider gave her access to the use of the spirits of nature, the Katsina. That's where Göahi and Xolotl came from. Spirits of Fire and of Lightning. She also got the ability to see the other verses connected to the Web of Life and Destiny. See, not interact.....and she can't control when they visions happen. It could be frustrating.

Hania looked around and nodded. "Yeah. yeah..... yeah. It really does. Doesn't it?" Hania looked back this very interesting new acquaintance and smiled coyly.

"So do you, like, fight crime too?" WHAT IS HANIA THINKING!?!?!

As humorous as it was, Mara had wondered at first if she was imagining those small beings that seemed to almost be shy. When it came to her ability to sense spirits, some places were more crowded than others. The city itself had so much history, had seen so much death, that there were days that she really had to concentrate to be able to tell which people were still alive. This though, she could see these, it wasn't as though she were just sensing a presence. Having been on her way home, she hadn't expected to have to sharpen her senses but upon seeing the little beings behind this Spider-Woman, she couldn't help but be curious. She wanted to know more, since it seemed that these two were tethered to her.

It was a very subtle shift in energy, but when Hania had her epiphany about Mara's apparent abilities, she could feel the charge in the air. It was as though there was a feedback loop of their powers. She'd never met anyone that caused that before. In truth, she knew very few other enhanced beings, having mostly kept to herself. It wasn't as though she had found herself at the X-Mansion at any point and with all that was always happening with the government, mutants weren't exactly trying to advertise or network. It made it easy to feel alone, and perhaps that was why she never minded being at the scene to see people like her in action, able to save and help people.

Being so absorbed in the interaction, she hadn't even really taken notice when the superhero in front of her almost casually dropped her name into conversation. Instead, she moved to hook her thumbs into her belt loops, mostly because she was never quite sure what to do with her hands when she was standing.

"Spider-Woman," she nodded, "I like it, gets the point across real clearly. But uh, yeah...I've seen my fair share of all 'a this. Not like I seek it out or anything, it just kinda seems t' happen a lot in this city." She managed a small but genuine laugh.
