Adrian Ermolayev's illustration for russian tale "Snegurochka".
Snegurochka (or The Snow Maiden) is a character in Russian fairy tales, a girl made of snow. Since the mid-20th century, Snegurochka has been depicted as the granddaughter and helper of Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) during New Year parties for children.

my first read of the year (and my first dostoevsky)
i thought this mini collection captured loneliness, introversion, love, longing, and the desire to escape in such a profound manner. by focusing on interaction and human connection, dostoevsky explores the human psyche through our inherently social nature. no matter how introverted one is, the desire to connect persists.
ultimately, we're all just trying to be a little less lonely.
