We talk a lot about productivity on studyblr. And seeing what some people accomplish in a single day is absolutely stunning. Like damn you cooked 3 meals, cleaned, studied for 3 hours, worked for 8 hours, took a walk, made espresso, read 3 chapters, AND made a whole painting? Seeing these lists can make you feel lazy or underachieving. I promise you're not. A lot of times you just don't have small "habits" (I can't form habits for some reason so they're more like small, structured items I make a conscious effort to complete daily) that structure your day and mindset. But even if you do, remember that not everyone is 100% every day and some days, you don't do anything and that's ok! Listen to your body!
Firstly, realize that lists like the one I listed are probably exaggerated. I doubt someone can cook themselves a meal while at work and unless they're getting up at 5am, they probably don't have time to get all of that done. This is the first thing you gotta realize. Social media is full of exaggerations and lies. This includes the studyblr community. So don't fall for the expectations that you see here.
Secondly, get a schedule for yourself. Get up at a certain time, make your bed after you get up, go and wash your face. This gets your mind to transition from being asleep to doing things. Wash dishes after you use them. Hang your laundry after you finish it. Put things away after use them. Keep your shoes in the same spot and get a shower schedule going. These small things are hard at first, but get easier as they become more routine.
By doing things immediately, you don't create much clutter and your cleaning time is cut down drastically. It helps so much. Trust me.
Have relax time. I've posted this before because it's IMPORTANT. SCHEDULE YOUR BREAK AND RELAX TIME AND TREAT IT LIKE ANYTHING ELSE. IT'S NOT LESS IMPORTANT.
Find easy snacks and meals! Look at pinterest or Instagram for ideas! Egg and cheese wraps, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, salmon and mashed potatoes, etc. Especially if you work a lot like I do. The majority of my diet is "easy meals" at this point.
Make time for healthy habits. Meditation, yoga, a jog, the gym, running, swimming, reading by the creek, dancing to weird music, just get up and move and give your mind a break. You charge your phone. You need to charge yourself too.
Sleep. Please. Get a full 6-8 hours of sleep. Don't glorify sleeping small amounts. It's not a competition. I hate seeing people compare how little sleep they got, like bro that's like bragging about eating nothing but bacon and potato chips or something. Get sleep. Have a night time routine. Make sleep a sacred night time ritual even. Please. It's good for your body, your mind, your immune system, your skin, your future brain, etc. It can reduce your chances of getting in a car crash even.
Realize that life isn't a race or a competition. Life is something so short and it's meant to be enjoyed and savored. Please do something every day that makes you smile. Do something every day that makes you laugh. Do something every day that makes someone else smile. Live each day like it's the one you'll be remembered for. Spread love and kindness, especially to yourself and make sure you remind those you love that you do every chance you get. At the end of the day, you're living life, not racing in a societal race to be the most accomplished and you need a reminder about that.

A rant about my health and recent life updates:
I recently got diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My symptoms got worse and worse and I was unable to focus on anything. Over the course of my life I have give up many of my dreams because of my disability. And now I gave up another one — doing a second degree.
Some of you may know that I had been doing two undergrad courses but as my health became worse I had to drop Bachelor of Science. Now I'm only focus on my Computer Applications degree.
Internalized ableism is something I struggle with on a daily basis even after 6 years of fibro. It was so hard for me to convince myself that I am quitting because I cannot manage to do both with the limited energy I have, and not because I am lazy. It is hard to live life to the fullest with a disability, and grief is a big part of it. I was grieving myself and my lost health for so long, it took an even bigger toll on me and pain which had first increased, became even more worse. So I took some time off from social media and eveyrthing, to collect myself, reduce my anxiety and deal with my emotions correctly instead of putting on the mask of humour and other coping mechanisms to run away from my emotions.
So this studyblr is no longer a mathblr and phyblr. I'll only be studying computer applications and working on self-learning other programming fields. I'm going to miss physics terribly but, sometimes life isn't always sunshine and rainbows.
To all my fellow disabled people, you are valid and loved, and please don't give in to internalized ableism. You know what's best for your body. We've got this <3

INTRODUCTORY POST! (long post ahead but please do give it a read)
I'm a third year med student from India who's also planning to start step 1 prep(have been for a while😶) I will be posting (hopefully) daily snippets of my study sessions and student life..
The inspiration to start a blog struck a few years ago, while I was watching the movie Julie and Julia.
I had started a studyblr soon after but I have been unable to post there anymore because I have recently come to the realisation that one of my close friends did not respect my wishes for privacy was keeping tabs of my blog without my knowledge.. I'm not sure since how long, but once I found out, I just completely lost interest in posting there..
To me, tumblr was a place to just be myself and get to know you wonderful people and a time to be away from my usual circle.. I'm an introvert myself and so having a space that I called my mine meant a great deal to me, and to know that it was violated by someone close really got to me..
So this is a fresh start, and it was a difficult decision, because that was a blog I really held close to my heart but I suppose all good things come to an end..
Few of my favorite studyblrs who have always inspired me to do better - @myhoneststudyblr @a-young-doctors-journey @ontrackmind @medemedemed @medicineinside @starrystvdy @studyblr @eintsein @lee-sarahh @emmastudies @medcury @studyquill @studylustre @studydiaryofamedstudent @academedical @academiix @galina @usmlestar

Something Is Killing The Children vol.3 by James Tynion IV, Werther Dell'Edera and Miquel Muerto
Earlier this year I read the first and second volume of this horror comic series and loved it. It's dark and gory and based on a great idea in my opinion. The story is set in a world just like ours, but where monsters are real and they kill people. The catch is that only children can see these monsters. There's a secret organization that hunts monsters, and Erica, the protagonist is one of them, although we learn very soon that she isn't in great terms with the rest of the organization. This particular volume concludes the story started in the previous two, and I felt like it was a good conclusion to the story, that helped to set a base for this series. Since it's been a few months since I first read the other volumes I want to reread all three one right after the other in the future to see how they work together, but I was really satisfied with the start of this series which I will be surely continuing. I really like the illustrations, as I mentioned they are quite gory, so if you don't like that maybe avoid this particular series. The only thing I had already noticed in the other volumes is that sometimes you are supposed to follow the page normally when in other occasions you have to read from left to right on the whole two pages before going on the line below (I hope this makes sense it would be a nightmare to explain in Italian you can imagine how much I am struggling with English). I often find myself not realizing right away when it's one of the latter occasions, and it messes up the whole two pages, clearly. I don't know if I'm stupid (at this point I probably am) but I struggled with this thing multiple times in all three volumes, I feel like it's not always clear if I have to continue on the same line of the next page or to go directly on the line below. As I said I hope it makes sense, and in general this is my only complaint with the series so far. I'd really recommend giving this a try, you could just read the first three volumes and call it a day in my opinion, but to be honest I think the story does a great job at captivating the reader and you'll want to read more.
I read this book for the studyblr w/knives horror reading challenge for the graphic novel prompt.

Studyblr Intro!!
I just realized I never did one of these and I'm 31 days in!!
Anyway, hi! This is my more personal blog. My other one, @standersbi-standingby, is for reblogs and fandom stuff and whatnot.
I named both blogs after a set of lyrics in Eyewishes/Bystanding by Lemon Demon so they'd be connected to each other <3 specifically the "-bye, standers by, standing by, cycling by" part.
My name's Jay, I'm nonbinary with she/they pronouns (although I prefer they unless you're a close friend.)
I'm currently in high school. I decided to start this because I am likely to be neurodivergent in some fashion (I've been diagnosed with anxiety but nothing else at the moment, anxiety and autism/ADHD are highly comorbid which makes it a whole lot harder to diagnose, I've just got a feeling something else is there) and wanted some way to log what I do, possibly to help give me motivation and to maybe help me be a bit more productive?
Really, I'm just trying to have fun for the most part and take away some of the stress from my day to day life. I've also seen other people doing this and thought it looked cool and wanted to start for myself, so here I am!
Figured I should probably get a proper introduction out of the way. Now that that's done, back to the grind ToT

I did the studyblr w/knives winter mini reading challenge! (ノ´ヮ`)ノ*: ・゚
(~list of books + comments under the cut~)
One - Sarah Crossan
I think this was the book I finished the fastest; both the theme and the poetic way of writing piqued my interest and made it near impossible to put it away once I’d started reading.
Around the world in 80 days - Jules Verne, illustrated by Robert Ingpen
A classic that I tried reading in a simpler version as a 4th grader, I think? Then I saw that @aroundtheworldwithphillyfogg were going to do a thing with it and it made me want to read it for real. I had a great time this time around, and Ingpen’s drawings made it even more fun!
Lullaby - Chuch Palahniuk
A friend got me to read “Fight club” and since I liked it I felt like reading another one of the author’s stories - this was the only other one translated into swedish, and it was just as weird, dark and intriguing as “Fight club”.
The little prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
This book is a gem, and I have to agree with what I’ve heard a lot of people say about this book - you do find something new to marvel at every time you re-read it!
Take me with you when you go - David Levithan & Jennifer Niven
Sibling relationships (especially good ones) are my weakness, which is why I picked this book up in the first place, and I really like how it's all told through e-mails; it had me hooked until the very end!
Mörka Julnätter - Camilla Lagerqvist, illustrated by Lina Blixt
I was looking for a book with 24 chapters to make the wait for Christmas a bit more festive, and I found this one - a story about family and folklore, made perfect by the accompanying pictures!
Mitt hjärta går på - Christoffer Holst
It’s been a while since I’ve read a love story, and this was a bittersweet one with lots of charm; I quite liked how down to earth this felt despite the darker themes that were going on.
Essay collection & other short pieces - C S Lewis
C S Lewis is one of my favourite authors of all time, and this collection of essays has been standing in my familys bookshelf for a long time so I thought, why not give it a read? And while I have to admit that it was hard to keep up at times, I did enjoy it overall~
A psalm for the wild-built - Becky Chambers
A friend that I recently re-established contact with recommended me this book and even if I had to read it in english I found it to be very immersing and thought provoking. (I read the second book immediately afterwards and loved it just as much!)

Hi everyone!! Just wanted to do a little update now that we have our results!
I’m extremely happy with mine! I got a 9 Higher Maths and an 8 in FM!!! I’m so proud that I managed to get so high in FM especially. It’s a tricky course so I’m very pleased :)) My other subjects also went equally well!! :)))
I’m sure all of your grades were amazing :))) If you’re happy, then CELEBRATE! You did SO WELL!!!
If you’re not happy, remember:
7 is an A.
7 is an A!
High achieving schools are insane. Some schools have never seen a 7 in their life. We live in a completely different bubble where a 7 is inadequate. 7s are AWESOME. So are 6s!!!! You should be super duper proud of your results, especially if you put in a whole bunch of work to get there.
Right, enough rambling. With my grades and my subjects next year secure, my plan for this blog from now on is as follows:
- Focus on IB Higher Maths Analysis — if I feel like it, I might put up some stuff about my other subjects, but I want to try to keep this blog pretty maths-focussed.
- Revision session posts — this’ll mainly be to keep me accountable, but studyblr is a whole community on here so I doubt it’ll be tooooo out of place.
- Tutorials on tricky areas — again, mostly for me, but someone else might find it useful :)
- GCSE tuition — BIG maybe, but I would like to use my maths knowledge to help GCSE students prepare for their exams. If that ends up happening, I’ll probably talk about the process of getting all that set up!
- Whatever funny things I think about — …like video games or d&d and how maths relates to those. shut up I can have fun here this is my blog
- Crying over the IB — I’m kidding, I think it’ll be fun. But it is a heavy workload, so I’ll try to give tips on managing everything in a way that’s actually accessible and realistic.
I’ll update my banner and bio when school starts up again because I’m away from home right now wITHOUT MY CALCULATOR , but until then, have a wonderful rest of the summer and best of luck for the coming school year!
Sixth Form, here I come!
- Flash :)

12. Wool Socks or Slippers?
I don't love either. Wool socks are too thick and make my feet hot. Slippers I wear occasionally but I prefer the sock styled ones anyways. So my real answer is fuzzy socks. These guys.
Tumblr media
13. Trick or Treat?
Treat. I like eating treats, making treats, and giving treats away.
14. Marshmallows or Whipped Cream?
Both. But not at the same time. I like to make sure I have opportunities for both. If I had to choose right now I'd say whipped cream but only if there's sprinkles.
15.Jack or Sally?
The Corpse Bride. I suppose I'd go with Jack if I had to. His curiosity is infectious.
16. Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Goosebumps. Though special shout out to Shivers which I always found more actually chilling as a kid.
17. Plaid or Neutrals?
Neutrals are lovely but I'm just not the kind of girl who can pull them off. But then I get the treat of getting to admire the girls who can. 😘
18. Coffee or Tea?
Coffee. 8 times a day preferably.
19. Studyblr or Halloween Blog?
Halloween blogs.
20. Red or Gold?
Red. I look stunning in red.

Thank you for the asks, anon~ Much love!

it has been … eleven months? since i posted on this account. and like, an unbelievable amount of things have happened, but the biggest one is i got kicked out of university.
or—not kicked out, i guess. asked to take a leave of absence. i had to unenroll for the year and will be permitted to return as a full time student in september 2023. it blows. it fucking blows. it’s completely my fault, of course (i let things stand in my way) and now my future at grad school is potentially slipping away, but—but. i’m not giving up.
i have the opportunity to do better, now. to read more; to develop better habits. they’re permitting me to take 2 classes starting in january; i might do that. ease back into it.
in any case, i’m going to try to use this account more. i think there’s still such a complex around studyblr, and perspectives like this (from people who aren’t perfect students) might be interesting. so, look out for me! i’m excited to be back :)

Heyooo! I was lurking around studyblr as I am planning to create one once I start collegeㅡ(I'm in my last year as a SHS student !) as an attempt to romanticize college life lmao and I came across your blog and noticed you are a Filo + an IS student T^T I'm planning to take IS as well so I came here to ask you for some advices and tips because Idk what to expect 'cause Idk anyone who majors in International Studies around me :< and some of them (have the audacity to) tell me to change my course kasi they think I will just end up jobless (tf). Thank you so much!!
hello!! thanks for ur patience, its almost finals so I’m not online as much :)) but anyway, hello future IS student ~ :D ✈️✈️
The jobless concern or “ano yun” is definitely a common thing IS students encounter LOL. Here’s the kicker tho: Anyone can be jobless! People like to poke at stuff they don’t understand so I hope hearing those comments will eventually get boring on your end. IS is a course that feels specialized but is actually (imo) pretty broad.
[What to Expect]
I think it’s a given na I’ll talk about my own experience LOL. The other schools that offer IS probably have a different curriculum so take that into account :)
For IS in DLSU, you have to choose a focus/major. There’s American Studies, European Studies, Japanese Studies, Chinese Studies, and Southeast Asian Studies.
SUBJECTS
There are major subjects ALL IS students have to take, and then there are majors na focus-specific.
Ex. All IS students have International Law, but only European Studies students will have EU Economics.
Unlike other courses, you don’t have majors kaagad so there’s plenty of time to ease into the course if you’re still new or unfamiliar with the vibe (or if u want to jump ship and shift).
There’s a GE (General) Course/“Floating” subject (aka a course everyone has to take hehe) that feels like a baby IS class. It’s called GEWORLD. Most of us took this GE first term or second term since our flowchart was built like that. Double check yours nalang to be sure! Anyway, that class can give you a little taste of what IS is like if you’re entirely unfamiliar. In short, the transition from SHS to IS student won’t feel that abrupt!
You also have a foreign language class. American + European Studies students can choose between French and Spanish. Japanese studies…that’s a given na :) You’ll have seven terms worth of classes, which is basically three levels of foreign language class per year for two years. It’s fun and completely doable.
COURSE CONTENT
What’s IS?
International Studies isn’t the same as Diplomacy and International Affairs (This is offered in CSB). Think of the former as a course which tells you everything you need to know about the kpop industry. You’ll learn the history, what it is, how to look at it through different perspectives. You’ll look into cases. Look into different fandoms, etc. The latter also teaches that, but on top of that you also learn how to be a kpop idol (aka Diplomat/Ambassador).
But on a more concrete note, you’ll learn about theories. Liberalism, Realism, Neoliberalism...These are used to analyze situations. For my final paper in one of my majors, I used neoliberalism to explain Avengers: Civil War.
You’ll learn about foreign policy, what it is and how it’s used. You’ll learn about political economy, soft power/hard power, etc. Lots of very serious words you can use to make sense of situations!
TLDR: IS in DLSU is a lot more broad compared to other universities. (If anyone from CSB or ADMU is reading this you may confirm or deny because this is just what I heard LOL. I can confirm the broad bit though as a green school student.)
How are the classes?
For the majors mismo, there are lots of assigned readings. Don’t feel intimidated though! Profs tend to flavor their classes differently but readings will always be present. Prepare to write a lot rin. You can get away with not reading too. Idk how but you can totally do that.
Groupworks are a thing. Hindi yan mawawala so choose wisely ~
Recitation is a thing. I had a prof that randomly calls talaga every class. It depends on the prof though. It could be terrifying, but preparation is key!
[Advice]
As for advice, read! Read reputable news articles to get a feel of what good flow is. Read stories to be a better narrator. It’ll help a lot when it comes to essay writing.
Note: IS papers are mostly reports or synthesis papers. I suggest casually reading news articles or even magazine articles. This is an entirely different conversation though and I can go on for hours so lmk if u want me to elaborate here. (Writing tips/IS writing in general). :)
Tune into current events. A prof might ask if anyone is updated and u can recite for pogi points if ever.
You’re all students! You’re all there to learn so don’t feel intimidated by the course or even ur own peers. u got this!!
It’s okay to be unsure. Not sure what you want to do post IS? What job to take? Etc? Don’t worry, most of us have no clue. Some of my IS batchmates are in law school, some are working office jobs while others are language teachers.
I don’t plan on pursuing an IS related career myself. But I don’t feel like “sayang” ang inaral ko because this course gave me a lot of skills and clarity. Skills = writing, listening, collaborating/working with other people. cramming. research. public speaking! all very important and can be used in different industries. Clarity = it’s a personal thing, but going through this course made it clear what I really wanted/I got a clue of what I want to tolerate in a career LMFAO.
Not IS related pero lumandi ka/make friends/have a hobby. It’s very important for your personal growth!! Join orgs if you want to. The skills u can pick up sa org could potentially help you sa acads rin. But aside from the gains, its really nice to have something fun to do on the side!
That’s all for now! :) That’s all I can think of IDK IM mush better siguro if you have exact questions? :)
Do you have a tumblr? If you have specific questions maybe we can chat so I can answer u better. Other than that, I really hope this helps! :)
I can add to this later since im sleepy rn and idk if ur gonna see this agad but ill indicate if i add hehe. Thanks for reaching out and good luck 💗💗💗

Day 1: Testing the waters
I migrated to this apps in hopes to get my life together so here it goes. Honestly leading up to this point of my life, I had only focused my energy on the things that I consume and not necessarily caring much about myself. I wish I had to be honest, but every time that I had an ounce of self-care I always regressed back into what would be me,,, on the bed,,, scrolling mindlessly through social media or playing a quick game or two.
I did not mind this life as I am pretty active with my activities at school that I needed to shut off my brain from the world the moment I step foot into my house. The only problem was the excessive amount of social media that I consumed which I learned through my psych professor after I learned much more about the shit that ss would do. So I deleted most of them. Twitter, Insta (Even if most of the important groupchats are on there, I'm on winter break to even care about them to be honest), TIKTOK (The problem), and probably some more but I forgot. Might be wondering, why am I posting on Tumblr? I never used it at all in years and I downloaded this app purely because I remembered how independently driven the navigation system on here is, which is something I remembered liking about Tumblr. I just like the idea of my words being drowned into the midst online. I want to make some mutuals here and there, but I'm too shy to sometimes reach out.
Either way, my soul purpose is to just yap my feelings. I also am starting to follow some studyblr accounts in hopes to get me to study and post my thoughts on here. Although knowing me, I question on my commitment into doing something as I always wanted to do something for the long run... but never quite consistently do it.
Anyways, if there is one thing that is on my mind right now is that I sort of regret spending $30 on Genshin. I honestly did it because I was furious that finding out that I had COVID cancelled my plans for a get together with close friends that we had planned. I don't really know why I was so emotional about it now thinking about it, but if there is one thing I am going to do tomorrow is give a hug to my mom for dealing with my emotions lmao. Love her, really. Sometimes I wish I did not go on that emotional rollercoaster, but if there is one thing that I need to work on, it is validating some of my feelings since it is healthier to let it all out rather than repress those feelings. The defense mechanisms and probably some trauma responses led my brain being conditioned into repressing all of the feelings I had in the past which would heightened any reactions into being uncontrolled and irrational now. I think this serves as a learning purpose to understand how to control my emotions healthily. I think what really stuck in my mind was just my mom hugging me in silence as I cried to my friends of mines of that plan being ruined. My regret was not saying goodbye to her as she left right after for work.
Never spending money on Genshin for a while, I lost my 5050 in the Navia banner. Sad.
I am also so fortunate to have amazing friends too, they brought Ramune, Kimbap, Pasta that they cooked, some Chocolate pie and a Gingerbread house kit. I had to social distance away as they saw me struggling to open the ramune bottle but eventually got it. That is how I got inspiration for the username -- the flavor was lychee.
Anyways it is crazing what writing your feelings does sometimes, this is therapeutic. Maybe I should do this often while I shut my brain down and just yap. Cheers to another day of living because the world did not end when it was 3:45 pm

a common misconception about productivity (in my opinion)
i'm gonna preface this with that this has helped me in my studying endeavor, but is it backed up with research and sources? no. take it with a grain of salt, but if your new to being consistently productive i think this is a valid take.
another preface: i'm neurodivergent, so in my personal life, it can be very difficult for me to get motivation to clean, especially when people ask me to do it. productivity is the same thing.
additionally, please share anything that you relate to/sources that contradict me/anything else related to the topic too! if i'm dead wrong i'd love to find out why and read up on it.
your studying space does not need to be 100% clean and organized for you to study at. it's whatever and wherever makes you feel productive.
i've been lurking on tumblr for more years than i probably should have been, and studyblr has always been part of it. however, i only just got the courage to actually start up this blog. no, i don't expect it to take off in the span of a single year, but holding myself accountable is very important for my final year of high school.
however. i live in a small-ish home, and never had a desk or anything in my room i could dedicate time to sit down at and just work. instead, everything would go from my backpack to my bed, and i'd work leaning back, and then wonder why i felt the urge to sleep, surrounded by comfortable things.
lately, although i'm still in the same bed, i've made a point to try and make my bed and not sit underneath the sheets, as well as using a lap table made for computers when i'm working. i organize my items on the side of my bed, but as i work, it gets more and more cluttered. i know exactly where everything is, but it doesn't look like the picture perfect studyblr with coffee/tea and natural sunlight. my energy drinks and inconvenient 'desk' aren't totally the same as going to the library to study, but it gives me productivity that other spaces don't.
if the above situations feel like what you need to be productive, by all means go for it! i'm not shaming those who have that lifestyle for studying and getting things done. it just feels assuring, at least to myself, that we don't all need to use the same methods of clean and organized to make productivity a reality in our lives. have a messy space if that's what gives you inspiration! i end up with highlighters everywhere after a really good study session, as well as pen marks on my hands and discarded pages with ideas that just didn't work out. but i can see my progress within the messy area, and feel the urge to keep going!
tldr: messy spaces can also provide inspiration and productivity for people, and that's okay, and so is having a neat and tidy area where everything is put away

I was so excited for this book, it's recommended as a short novel that channels Edgar Allan Poe and H.G. Wells vibes, both some of my favourite authors. I was so disappointed, this book almost put me into a reading slump.
The plot is all about a man who escapes prison by going to a small desert island. There's traces of other men who lived there, but it has been abandoned for quite a while now. Everything shifts when one day, without prior warnings he finds the island to be full of people. The one weird thing is that they all seem to ignore our main character. I am not going to say much not to give away anything, I found this premise to be very intriguing when I purchased the book. I had two main problems with it, firstly for some reason I thought it was really predictable, and although this factor is not always something that ruins the whole experience for me, in this case it did. Probably because of the second problem I had with the book, it was insanely slow paced. We are talking about a book of 120/130 pages more or less, it felt infinite. I had no motivation to pick it up. I didn't dnf it just because it was so short, and I had a bit of hope it would turn in the end. I wanted to like this book so much, it's so well loved, and with the premise I mentioned I felt like it had a lot of potential, but it just wasn't for me. I did not see any Poe or Wells vibes, I get that the core idea goes along stories they could have written but aside from that there was nothing else.
I read this book for the studyblr w/knives summer reading challenge 2.0 for the short book prompt. I will soon post an update on how the challenge is going.
