SHE’S BACK | TGKDN SPOILERS up to Ch 40

Cali’s Note: Hey all! I’ve been super busy graduating and everything so I stopped posting but that doesn’t mean I abandoned TGKDN or anything. I’ve been reading and rereading all the chapters while waiting for the author to finally update!

Context: Tsukuyo Hiyori is from a jjkxoc (additional add-ons: dad!gojoxoc, yutaxoc, megumixoc) fic called Tsuki Ga Kirei Desu Ne (TGKDN). It’s linked in my bio in case anyone wants to read it. I don’t own her or TGKDN! I’m just a fan! I heavily recommend those who haven’t read TGKDN to read it. It’s made me cry from the angst chapters to scream into my pillow at 4am from adorable romance (fluff) moments or from laughing my a** off. I personally don’t have anything i can say i dislike about it and the grammar/spelling + sequencing of events is good too like actual novel-worthy (but the author is kind of like Gege 2.0 and she scares me with her unpredictability)

Anyways, on to my discussions that a surprising few of you actually read! I’ve seen all the messages thanking me for introducing TGKDN to y’all but tbh u should be thanking the author not me cuz she’s the one who writes it!

YALL AFTER ALL THOSE CHAPTERS WITHOUT HIYORI CONTENT, SHES FINALLY BACK!

-Her entrance was just *chef’s kiss*

-She’s so dramatic (she def gets it from gojo i swear) and the way it started off with Tsuki trolling them was funny af

-Tsuki still remains one of my favorite characters but i wish there was more tsuki content

-not junpei being the only sane person there (plz the way he just got more and more confused by both hiyori and yuji)

- megumi better run cuz nobara is out for blood

- lowkey not even his fault cuz he never said she was dead, they just assumed she was cuz he kept saying she was “gone”

- ok but not hiyori having a couples vacation with yuta while we were all sobbing and panicking over her possibly being dead (author better be feeding us some tsukuokko content soon! i want to know what happened in africa!)

-hiyori seems the same as she was back in her first year (well surface level anyway from what’s been witnessed in chapter 40)

-i was reading her profile again and i noticed that the author mentioned hiyori not carrying her katana anymore (what’s up with that? im confused. i feel like that has significance but idk what)

NOT THE AUTHOR SPINNING A WHEEL TO DETERMINE HOW SHE’S GONNA TORTURE US NEXT?!

-Y’all i swear if a spinny wheel is what ends up being the reason why one of my favs die, imma flip (and cry alot)

-as much as i love yuta and all tsukuokko content, i rlly want to see more on hiyori’s relationships with the other characters especially maki and megumi since the first main arc (jjk 0 timeline) was mainly in yuta’s point of view so there was a lot of stuff not mentioned like hiyori’s role in the juju society and stuff (can we talk about how amazingly well the author writes unreliable narrators and pov switching? its fucking amazing)

- tsukuyo hiyori = certified badass

- now that she’s back then that means she’s most likely going to be in japan during the shibuya arc (i can’t wait to see what goes down but im also scared)

- waiting for more kazuha info still cuz why is this little kid so mysterious??

- I want to see sukuna and hiyori meet OR sukuna and tsuki ( i feel like those interactions would be rlly funny)

- ok but what’s this tree and why is she going to sendai??

- can we talk about how hiyori is starting to act more and more like gojo but with a blend of geto and shoko into it too (u can tell she grew up around those three cuz she has a mix of all of their personalities mainly gojo and geto’s)

- that photo of hiyori for chapter 40 (she could step on me and i would thank her)

- plus all those photos in the image gallery for her profile too!

- she’s so hot.

- i’d choose her over yuta and megumi ngl (sorry not sorry)

- i wonder how megumi will react when he finds out hiyori is already taken

- nobara seems to be a fan of hiyori so i wonder how their first interaction will be

- i’m surprised no one knew hiyori was back until she came back (then again maybe the “she” referred to at the end of the chapter isn’t even hiyori but someone else)

- will hiyori kill mahito? what will happen during junpei’s MORPHIN’ TIME? will she be there or is she gonna still be in sendai and find out after?

especially possible Shibuya Arc Hiyori when she goes crazy over everything that's happened (I hold onto my belief that she will appear in Shibuya because there's no way the author's killing her off this early)

I FOUND THE HINT

(TGKDN What Happened to Hiyori Hint in Chapter 17)

So her profile status says “Not Alive” and the author said there were two hints (one in Chapter 17 and one in her profile)

idk what the profile one is but I literally searched thru chapter 17 and analyzed it like crazy for hours until I realized...

TGKDN Part 1 (aka the JJK 0 Timeline) Thoughts & Spoilers

It’s been a ride and now I can’t wait for the JJK timeline to start. I’ll be covering chapters 23-30 of TGKDN in two other posts (separated). This is just my overall thoughts of part 1 aka the first half of book 1 of TGKDN

i heavily recommend those who haven’t read TGKDN to read it. it’s made me cry from the angst chapters to scream into my pillow at 4am from adorable romance (fluff) moments. i personally don’t have anything i can say i dislike about it and the grammar/spelling + sequecing of events is good too like actual novel-worthy

spoilers below ⬇️

-first and foremost, round of applause for the author for writing possibly one of the best JJK fanfics (my personal opinion) out there that has a character (Hiyori but again she can be seen as self-insert aka Y/N if you want) with actual depth

-they’ve (the characters) come so far and this part was only supposed to be the introduction of Hiyori’s character

- I can’t wait to see how she’s going to do in the JJK timeline especially with the later arcs (Shibuya and Culling Games) and there are so many unanswered questions left like where her sister is, what exactly happened in her past to get her the title of the literal GRIM REAPER of curses, and who kazuha is

- i want to see more hiyori and her adoptive family content along with her and her relationship with the other first-years (ig second-years now?) since most of this first half of book 1 has been told in yuta’s pov

- it’s quite obvious that hiyori has had a major impact in yuta’s life since the very beginning when he first met her at the playground so long ago but there’s been something bugging me about their first encounter

- why did the author write that? she could’ve easily written the rest of the story without yuta and hiyori having met during their childhood. i feel like there has to be a bigger reason why and no i don’t think it’s because she wanted to sell the first love trope (she seems to be the type to plan things out because there are a lot of small details that end up having completely different meanings like Hiyori’s white ribbon or her briefly mentioned dislike of orchids EVEN hiyori’s favorite food aka curry udon has a deep meaning to it)

- going off of this, kazuha definitely has played a fundamental role in shaping hiyori into the person she is now the same way rika shaped yuta to become who he was (shy PTSD-ridden boy)

- the difference between kazuha and rika is that rika’s relationship with yuta was blatantly unhealthy and toxic (let’s be honest, after her character profile, we all know rika’s far from an innocent little girl in fact she’s kind of a walking red flag) while kazuha’s relationship was healthy though it ended on a bad note based on hiyori’s words during chapter 27 about freeing him

- he’s definitely one of the characters i’m most excited to see fleshed out during the JJK timeline since i have a feeling the author will replace gojo’s past arc with hiyori’s past arc since that seems most befitting

- after reading rika’s character profile, reading the “Rika’s Love” chapter again has made me take rika’s inner thoughts/pov in a whole different way

-i thought it was kind of cute that rika loved hiyori because of how nice hiyori was to her but if you really think about it, that’s terrifying because rika’s character profile has revealed that her form of love is toxic

- rika literally wanted yuta all to herself. she was extremely possessive (even before being cursed) and she’s manipulative (something gege said so himself). she strikes as the type to want to control what’s hers and gives me sociopathic/psychopathic tendencies. her entire character profile was like a big red flag

-now imagine if rika had stayed cursed and how dangerous this would’ve been for not just yuta anymore but hiyori as well because even in “Rika’s Love”, Rika literally tried to attack Kazuha’s ghost

- the author’s way of writing “Rika’s Love” really changes depending on who the viewer is...to ppl who don’t know about Rika’s character profile, it’s sweet, but those who do know how terrifying it is

-im just glad rika is gone now and the author wrapped up that goodbye chapter in a tasteful way

- anyways moving on...

-im so glad hiyori and yuta are finally dating ( I HAVE WAITED FAR TOO LONG)

- THE CONFESSION WAS SO CUTE

- MY HEARTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

- THEIR LITTLE DATE BEFOREHAND WAS WHOLESOME TOO

- ALL THE TEARS I SHED WERE WORTH THAT CHAPTER

- i need more maki x hiyori content tho (sorry yuta but not rlly)

I literally said “Hiyori could step on me and I’d probably say thank you” 😭😭😭

Tsuki Ga Kirei Desu Ne has quickly become my favorite fanfic of all time! Thank you so much for the recommendation! At first I was skeptical since I've never read that many JJKxOC or characterxOC fics (I'm more of an xReader person) but after the first three chapters, I was hooked.

Hiyori is such a loveable main character! It's no wonder why you're always talking about. Her father-daughter relationship with Gojo is so soft and wholesome. Sometimes I forget that she's adopted. It's definitely one of my favorite parts about TGKDN. Her relationships with the other second-years is so wholesome too! You can tell how close and how well they all understand each other without words. Hiyori really is that ray of sunshine that makes everyone's day just brighter. She's like glue that keeps them all together. It's hard not to smile whenever she has a cute interaction with any of the other characters. No wonder why Yuuta loves her so much. I do too! (Don't worry, I'm not going to still Hiyori from you hahah)

Hiyori's relationship with Rika is so well-written. It's crazy. I never expected an author to actual delve into Rika and Yuta's relationship along with how Rika's relationship would be with Yuta's potential love interest after her. It's nice to see how well they get along. Hiyori going out of her way to spend time with Rika and talk to her even when Rika is a cursed spirit is so sweet. It fits Hiyori's personality perfectly.

Those chapters where she broke down especially the "Under the Surface" and "Jars" chapters really hit home. I had to take a while to recover from them because they were so sad. The author really did a good job writing Hiyori into such a flawed character instead of one of those constantly happy, cheerful, nice characters.

The Death Parade arc had me sobbing every single chapter. Geto and his perspective on everything really hurt. It's nice to see that even after all this time, Geto, Gojo, and Hiyori all still care deeply about each other even after Geto betrayed both Gojo and Hiyori. Gojo and Hiyori grieving together combined with all the flashbacks made me cry harder than the actual JJK 0 movie (to be honest I think TGKDN overall has made me cry harder than I ever have reading or watching something).

I'm just waiting for Yuuta and Hiyori to finally get together now. I wonder how everyone will react when that happens especially Gojo and Megumi.

I've cried, laughed, and screamed into my pillow while reading TGKDN and honestly I'm already anticipating the next chapter even though the author just published like two days ago! There's still so many unanswered questions and so much suspense left like who's Kazuha? Where's Asami? What's going on with Mei Mei? What did Nanami want to talk about? I'm so excited for the start of the JJK timeline!

i've got to agree with you tho. i cried so much harder reading the Death Parade arc in TGKDN than while watching the actual JJK 0 movie. the author's writing is honestly so good.

i have so many possible theories about all the questions you asked especially Kazuha and Asami!

i keep imagining skater!yuta who goes to the skate park with hiyori and the other second years. he tries to show off some cool tricks to her but he kinda sucks and at first he's upset because how tf did maki pick up skating so naturally when she literally just started today and he still can't land a flip right even tho he's been skating for years but then hiyori comforts him.

never rlly thought about yuta as a skater but now I can't get it outta my head....I'm gonna do this in a no curses AU where they're regular high schoolers (Panda isn't in this cause idk how to fit him into an AU where they're regular high schoolers)

- he started skating in middle school cause it cleared his head and no one bothered him when he was skating

- it was basically an escape from all the bullying he had to deal with in school

- he's got a sticker photo (yk the ones u can get from those photo booths) of him and hiyori (she's kissing his cheek) pasted on the back of his skateboard along with a photo of him with all of the second years (that gojo secretly took of them all laying in the grass after an exhausting day of training)

- his friends find out after they find one of his skateboards in his room and they convince him (more like they made hiyori use her puppy eyes which yuta stands no chance against) to bring them with him when he goes skate boarding again

- a week later, they're all at the skate park and yuta has never been so nervous before in his life because now they're all expectantly looking at him and waiting for him to teach them how to skate (also cuz he doesn't wanna fall on his face in front of his girlfriend...poor bby rlly wants to impress her)

- he's actually rlly happy because skate boarding has always been his escape from everything and now he can bring his friends into that world

- maki (i see her as a jock type for sure and no one can tell me otherwise) gets it right away and starts trying to do tricks that she sees other ppl at the skate park doing

- yuta is stunned cuz it took him months to learn how to flip and maki just did it 30 minutes after learning how to skate

- yuta tries to help hiyori on the board but she ends up getting it as quick as maki (i hc that hiyori and maki would both be athletes if they went to a normal hs. yuta would be one too but he kinda got roped into it (basically what happened in the JJK Fantasy High special chapter that the author posted))

- he's seen other ppl bring their s/o to the skate park to teach them how to skate (ppl hold onto their s/o to get them used to being on the board) and he's always wanted to do it with hiyori since they've started dating

- the moment he goes in to wrap his arms around her to help her steady herself on the board, she gains her balance

- man is punching the air because he was rlly tryna have a cute couple moment with her but then she looks at him with this rlly happy look on her face and he can't be upset

- maki teaches her how to flip and hiyori ends up getting it pretty fast (again, yuta's punching the air cuz he wanted to teach her all the cool tricks but maki did it instead)

- it doesn't help that maki's smirking at him while helping hiyori steady herself after she attempted another trick like that SHOULD'VE BEEN HIM.

- inumaki finds this whole situation hilarious. he's not that into the whole skating thing so he's on the side eating some ice cream he got from this kiosk nearby)

- hiyori sees inumaki eating ice cream and stops skating to eat ice cream with him (PRIORITIES)

- yuta and maki are like "where are toge and hiyori??" and they turn to see the two of them just sharing a cup of ice cream

- she ends up just watching with inumaki cuz skating is fun and all but it's not rlly her thing besides she likes watching yuta and maki skate

- she thinks yuta's cute when he's skating especially when he smiles after landing a trick correctly

- every time he lands a trick correctly, he immediately turns to look at hiyori who smiles and gives them a big thumbs up while telling him how good he's doing

- yuta def seems like the type who's love language (receiving) is words of affirmation so man is literally puffing his chest proudly with a goofy grin on his face whenever hiyori compliments him (and she showers him in compliments)

- there's something about having her watch him that makes him try new tricks and most of the time they land. he thinks its cuz she’s his good luck charm giving him luck but in reality he’s just trying his best while drifting up in cloud 9

- the first time he falls, hiyori comes running to him asking if he's okay and he tries to tell her he's fine but she pulls him to the side to take care of the minor cut he got on his hand

- he keeps trying to tell her he's okay while she cleans the cut and sticks a cute bandage (i hc hiyori as the type to carry around cute bandages like yk those hello kitty ones and stuff) on his cut

- he stops when she raises his hand up and kisses where his injury is causing him to blush

- then she kisses his lips this time and tells him to be more careful

- he's got a dopey grin on his face and he's like "mhmmmm" before giving her a look asking for more kisses cuz "they make it hurt less" and she peppers his face with kisses

- his mind does the math real quick like "injury = kisses from hiyori"

- he's starts overexaggerating his injuries a little when he falls after that

- scraped his knee a little? he's limping to hiyori so she can dote on him and give him kisses that'll make the pain go away (maki makes disgusted faces at him when she sees this but he's getting kisses so he's not even upset about it)

- on his birthday, his friends get him a new skateboard and it's custom painted by hiyori with a really cool design of all of them as cartoon (anime) characters on it along with all the other things yuta likes + more (even rika's on it!). there's even two areas for him to put photo stickers on cuz she knows how much he likes his photos

- he loves it so much and feels bad using it cuz he doesn't want to ruin it

- starts using it after his friends tell him that they'll just get him another if he ruins this one so he should just use it

- gets asked by ppl at the skate park where he got his board from cuz of the cool design and he smiles proudly every time and goes "my girlfriend drew this for me" before pointing at one of the photos on his board that's just hiyori waving a peace sign while grinning at camera with yuta next to her

- his friends end up going to the skate park with him regularly cuz maki's taken a liking to skate boarding too (she's got her own board that hiyori customized too with this cool dragon design)

- hiyori and toge go for the ice cream and to watch

What do you think would've happened if Rika didn't die? Would Yuuta and Hiyori still end up together if they met again? I've been thinking about it a lot since the "Rika's Choice" chapter in Tsuki Ga Kirei Desu Ne because Yuuta did mention he didn't know what would've happened if Rika lived so...

idk tbh because it really depends on the author but honestly i think they wouldn't end up together cuz yuta seems v loyal so i don't think he would cheat on rika or break his promise to marry her

i don't think hiyori and him would end up together because, even if yuta and rika ended it, we've already seen that hiyori is extremely respectful in the sense that she won't mess with someone's relationship just because she's in love with one of the people in the relationship. she literally told maki that she wouldn't pursue yuta out of respect for both rika (who is dead) and yuta along with their relationship (even tho it is a playground romance as maki said)

to be entirely honest, i doubt hiyori would even develop feelings for yuta if rika was alive since she would immediately label yuta as off-limits (since he's engaged). it would rlly just depend on the circumstances they meet again and stuff.

but overall, probably not

who would win?

if Hiyori used her CT and CE abilities then she would low-diff Maki for sure (she's the strongest female sorcerer for a reason)

Without CT but with CE would be low-diff still since Hiyori doesn't seem to be that dependent on her CT abilities from what I've seen

Without CT or CE then I would say high-diff or Maki just wins cuz of Maki's heavenly restriction

If it's Hiyori vs Post-Massacre Maki then it would really depend on whether Hiyori gets a power-up by that time or not BUT if it's current Hiyori vs Post-Massacre Maki then it would be mid to high diff with CE and CT just cuz I can see Hiyori pulling her punches because she cares too much about Maki
