Bohemian Rhapsody (mild spoilers?)

Hearing the word “Bisexual” in a big film for the first time had me shocked for a second. I couldn’t stop smiling. Bohemian Rhapsody has done so much good to show Freddie Mercury as he truly was, a beautiful man who struggled to show his true sexuality, yet believed he was bisexual. It didn’t focus solely on his terrible illness, that is so commonly shown only in the gay community (the film still had good representation of the gay community), and showed both of the loving sides of Freddie, not only towards men, but towards his “love of his life” Mary. He truly loved her and that was obvious, and didn’t let other people tell him otherwise.

I feel so honoured for my sexuality to not only be represented by the amazing Freddie Mercury, but Rami Malek, who took on this role with such a care to not overshadow all the parts of Freddie and played him on screen in such a captivating way.

I just wish I could thank the cast and crew of Bohemian Rhapsody for making me feel properly validated by the media for the first time in my life.
