Behind the Scenes!AU: Makeup

I was wondering what each actor would look like in this au, ever since that ask about Shouto, so here are some more headcanons for you guys c:

I might do more makeup HC’s for other characters, but for now I did it for a few of my favorites.

—

-Izuku uses the most makeup of all of them, and none of it is to change his everyday appearance. It’s simply to make him look like he’s been hit by a bus fifteen times during his matches. He’s gotten really good at stumbling around as though he’s broken bones and he likes to scare the crap out of some of the other actors once in a while.

-Katsuki’s hair is perfect for his role, they were honestly impressed with how much his hair sticks up. But they had to give him colored contacts to make his eyes have that red appearance. He really has dark brown eyes, and it’s surprising how much it softens his features.

-Katsuki also has faint freckles across his nose. (“FRECKLE BROS!!” -Kiri likes to call Izuku and Katsuki that) They cover them with makeup, sadly. The rest of the cast secretly thinks they’re adorable.

-(mentioned before) Shouto has bicolored eyes, which everyone else thinks is awesome, but his hair is only dark red. He has to dye the other half white for his role. But he really likes it, so he keeps it for quite a while afterward. He only needs makeup for the scar.

-Kiri’s hair is held together by hairspray, gel, and sheer willpower. He just wears it down on days he doesn’t need it up, or likes to tie it back in a little ponytail. He actually didn’t have to dye it. And his teeth are also sharp, so there wasn’t a need for fake ones either (how his teeth are like that is a mystery) The minute they added his little scar, he marched around and showed it to everybody he possibly could.

-Kaminari thought it was awesome that he got to have a lightning bolt streak in his hair. Other than styling it differently, he didn’t need much work to fit the role.

-Ochako has to straighten her hair a lot to get it to curve the right way. If she doesn’t, it will turn into loose curls. She has very wavy hair when she isn’t acting and it’s always been something that needed tamed for her roles.

-Shinsou has the darkest hair out of all of them. His hair is really near-black and his eyes are green. He wears colored contacts like Katsuki and was originally going to wear a wig. Due to a bad prank by Kiri and Kaminari, he eventually ended up with his purple hair and a grudge against those two idiots. But he does like the new look and when he’s finished acting, he changes colors a lot to see what it looks like with streaks of different colors.

More Behind the Scenes AU

-In the beginning, when they were still looking for someone to play the part of All Might, the director and crew didn’t even pick someone from the actors that tried out. They just saw Izuku getting dropped off by his blonde guy, promptly flipped because he WAS ALL MIGHT TO A T, and RAN over to ask him to try out.

-Toshinori was very surprised when he was nearly plowed over by a bunch of enthusiastic people asking him to try out as a character in the show. When someone asked how he knew Izuku, he just stammered, “well, I’m his father,” and that sent everyone into happy yelling again.

-Katsuki: “Does he always get this much fucking attention?” Izuku: “No…” Shinsou: “Izuku, let me know when your father leaves so I can get some sleep.”

-Toshinori ended up getting the part, of course. He was pretty happy with it, especially when he found out that All Might’s relationship with Izuku was meant to be so much like father and son. And then the actress playing Inko came up to shyly introduce herself to him and he was suddenly VERY happy about his new job indeed. Even if he was blushing stupidly and stuttering throughout his entire conversation with her.

-The first time Enji ever stepped on set to play Endeavor, he intimidated a lot of the teenagers. First of all, he was huge. Second of all, they all knew who he’d volunteered to play and weren’t sure whether he’d be bad-tempered or something. One of the first things he did was introduce himself to Shouto. It was quite a sight: this burly guy towering over Shouto while Shouto blinked up at him, a little nervous.

-Enji: “So, I guess we’re gonna be working together, huh?” Shouto: “I— Yeah.” Enji: “Well, I’m looking forward to it. Heard a lot of great things about you here.” And he smiles as he shakes Shouto’s hand and Shouto is left with a lot of relief and his ears tinged pink. He ducks his head and mumbles, “thank you. I look forward to working with you too.” Enji turns to the director and pouts. “What the hell, how am I supposed to pretend I hate this kid?”

-Needless to say, they get along fine. Shouto would never admit it aloud, but his real father is out of the picture now, and he honestly wouldn’t mind if Enji really was his father. He has a lot of trouble acting in the scenes where Endeavor’s abuse is shown.

-Though he doesn’t have too much of an appearance in the second season, Shinsou stays with the crew almost every day. Even when he has nothing to do. Everyone asks him why he doesn’t just sleep at home, he does nothing but sleep here. His answer to that is, “Aizawa lets me sleep in his dressing room when he’s not there and that bastard dragged his own mattress in there.”

-Aizawa denies that he went through the trouble of hauling a mattress into his dressing room. The rest of them (mainly Kiri and Denki, who are nosy as hell) make it their personal mission to prove whether or not he’s lying. It’s going slow though, because everyone is a little scared of Aizawa.

-Hizashi, Aizawa’s friend and the actor of Present Mic, stole a megaphone on the first day on set and yelled in his best Mic voice: “DAY ONE GUYS!! WHO’S READY?!”

-Katsuki jumped and yelled “FUCK,” Izuku dropped his script, and Shinsou woke up shouting about how he was going to murder all of them for this.

-Hizashi never got to continue the countdown in the following days because Aizawa promptly snatched the megaphone from him and threw it into the trash.

Behind the Scenes AU

-Behind the scenes of BNHA, there are just a bunch of actors and actresses attempting to look like they have superpowers and sometimes failing miserably at their own stunts. Their love for each other is still the same though. c:

-Every time Izuku disappears in the makeup artist’s room, a small crowd of the other actors and crew form outside. After sometimes an hour or two (prob more tbh), Izuku will stumble out with exaggerated limping and show off his “mangled” body parts. He’s had to break his bones so many times in this series, he’s used to the amount of makeup they have to put on him. The others always laugh and suggest ways he might’ve hurt himself this badly in real life. -Izuku: “I dunno, it’s gotta be hard to hurt myself like this without a power. …maybe get hit by a train. Five times.”

-Kiri gets made fun of because his sharp teeth are actually real. The first time they met him to read through the first script, he smiled all wide and five people gasped.

-Ochako asked him if he filed them that way or if he has a hard time brushing his teeth. Izuku wanted to know allllll about his crazy dentist experiences. And Denki just walked up, stuck his fingers in Kiri’s mouth and went “HOLY SHIT THEY’RE SHARPER THAN I THOUGHT!” Kiri: “DENKI STOP–MMMMPH!”

-When he’s not playing his explosive, angry character, Katsuki is actually one of the most loved actors in the whole group. He’s super friendly and playful, and helps everyone a lot. (He’s still an overachiever and he still swears like a sailor though)

-The oddest thing for them to watch is the transition from a bullying scene to when Izuku and Katsuki fall out of character. The minute a scene is over, Izuku will laugh and say something like “you had me scared for a second, Kacchan!” or “great job, I really thought you were gonna kill me for a minute.” Katsuki always grins and ruffles Izuku’s hair, before asking for water because “i am going to destroy my fucking voice if i have to shout at someone one more time.”

-As actors, Izuku and Katsuki are best friends, and they meet to read scripts a lot, or discuss ways to act through scenes. They get along really well and aren’t above hugging each other or showing up in each other’s clothes on set. (Not that they’re like dating or anything lol theytotallyare ANYWAY) There have been times when Izuku had to comfort Katsuki after a particularly harsh scene, because it hurts Katsuki sometimes to say such awful things to Izuku.

-Out of character, Shinsou is basically Aizawa, minus the sleeping bag. He has shown up near-late to read-throughs, in pajama bottoms, with a blanket, coffee, and muttering, “when can i sleep again” He naps all the time. He can fall asleep on anything, anywhere. He doesn’t know how to explain why he likes it so much, they’ve just accepted that if you can’t find Shinsou anywhere, he’s probably hiding in a place where he can sleep.

-Places Shinsou has fallen asleep: slumped over his dressing room table, in a chair, during read-throughs, on car rides, in Izuku’s lap, on Katsuki’s back while he was being carried, leaning against a wall, on the floor. The boy has no shame.

-As an actor, Shouto is the quiet one of the group. But he still strangely doesn’t mind getting into any of the ridiculous pranks or funny situations with the other actors at all. And he can be hilarious too. He is accidentally sarcastic with people. He doesn’t mean to be, but it comes out that way.

-“Shouto, Kiri told me I look ugly in this, but I think he’s wrong.” “……what do you want from me” “Tell me how it looks!” “Oh. …..I thought Kiri already did.”

-Shouto also has a strange way of not practicing too much, but then going out, winging it, and acting like he’s freaking become the character. He’s made the other actors and actresses cry while watching his more emotional scenes. It’s very adorable to praise him after this, because his quiet mask breaks into a little smile and he just mumbles “thank you.”

-He has a not-so-tiny crush on the Wonder Duo, but refuses to tell anyone or admit it out loud. But he always hangs around them and when Izuku and Katsuki started talking to him, he lit up. He isn’t nearly as quiet or cold with them, he loves talking to them. Izuku and Katsuki love it too; Shouto will talk a lot with them, but his voice is still soft and it is the most endearing thing. Shouto blushes like a fool whenever they compliment him and could spend hours discussing the intricate details of Izuku’s eyes or Katsuki’s hair.

-Kiri: “Okay, new challenge! Everybody trade characters with someone else and be that character for the rest of the day! You can’t break character! Winner gets this chocolate bar I stole from Aizawa. Got it?”

Katsuki: “You wanna trade, Izuku?”

Shouto: “Can Izuku even become that mean?”

Izuku: “FUCK YES, OUT OF MY WAY HALF-AND-HALF BASTARD, I WILL FUCKING DESTROY YOU ALL.”

Shouto: “….oh my god.”

I said I’d write up a tutorial on how to make these wings. It’ll be terrible So, here goes. XD

Have one or two friends to help you out. It’s easier with more hands. Materials:

Thin poster board. (For small wings you will need 3 pieces. For wings like this you will need 6)

Opal cellophane. (two rolls to be safe)

Adhesive glue.

Scissors.

Wire cutters.

Exacto knife. (I recommended using this for cutting out the poster board)

Hot glue gun.

3 Hanger wires (it’s super sturdy)

Pencil, and eraser.

Iron.

GLITTER!!!!!!!!!

Step one:

Find a reference photo! These wings are meant for a Periwinkle cosplay but since her and Tinkerbell have the same wings we used Tink as a reference.

Step Two:

Since we made our wings super large we had to glue two pieces of poster board together. This is why I said 6 pieces for large wings. Reason why is because of their size just one piece would make it droop. So before drawing the design on you spray one piece with adhesive and put the other piece on top of it. Making it as even as possible.

If you’re making smaller wings just go to step three!

Step Three:

Draw your design on the poster board. We drew ours on from corner to corner (diagonally) If you want smaller wings I recommend drawing it from corner to the the middle of the board.

Step four:

This is the most tedious of all the steps to making wings. Take your exact o knife and start cutting. You cut around the design but make sure to cut half an inch away from the line. You can go back later to make it thinner if you want. Using one poster board will take less time then two since it isn’t as thick.

Make sure there is something underneath the board so you don’t damage your floor.

Step Five: (not necessary but who says no to glitter)

We’re obsessed with glitter. So naturally we coated both sides of the design with white glitter. We used adhesive for this as well.

Step Six: (Smaller wings don’t need this but if you want to add it then go ahead!)

Take your wire hanger and bend it out so it’s the same shape of the wing that will be the closest to your back. Glue the wire down about 7 inches down from the tip of the wing. Most of the support is needed in the middle, and bottom of the wing.

Let some of the wire hang out of the bottom about four inches so you can connect the harness.

Step Seven

Roll out the cellophane to go over the wings. One piece for each side. Spray adhesive to the wing first and then gently place the cellophane over it. I recommend having someone help you with this part because adhesive is a pain when something goes wrong.

Do this for both the big wing, and the smaller one. Make sure the cellophane is over the wing evenly. Pat out any bubbles it may have.

Step Eight:

When both sides have cellophane on it take your iron and make sure it’s on a low setting. You don’t want it to burn or melt the cellophane. Gently go over the wing, and even it out as much as possible. There will be some bubbles, and such but think of it being more realistic.

Step Nine:

Cut off any excessive cellophane but leave some near the veins and by the wire. If it’s to short the cellophane will come apart. We left little less then half an inch.

Step Nine:

Take the adhesive to glue the little wing to the bigger one. You want to make sure you glue it on the inside.

Step Ten:

Use another wire hanger and bend it into a rectangle. Wire hanger is tough to bend so you’re going to have to use your inner strength. Cut off any excess wire with a wire cutter. Cover it with electrical tape so it becomes sturdier.

Step Eleven:

Line up the wing wire with the harness wire at the spot where it’s needed. Take the wing and connect it to the harness. Using electrical tape to keep the two of them together. Cut off an excess wire so it doesn’t dig into the wearers back.

Alas you have fairy wings!! I hope this helps a bit T-T Have fun!

Tip: You may have to cut a slit in the back of your outfit for the wings to slip into. Wearing a bra helps because it goes underneath it.
