I LOVE THIS DYNAMIC SO MUCH it's so important in both Project.Seraph and Project.Ink
More platonic battle couples. Battle friends.
Soldiers who've trained and fought together for years and now move like two halves of a whole, always watching each other's back.
Fantasy duo who've perfected their method of fighting side-by-side with weapons and magic. Or who use magic to strengthen each other, magic bolstering their fighting.
Near strangers forced together by a dire situation, having to work together to survive. They're a little awkward, a little clumsy, but necessity gives way to partnership. Trauma keeps them together after. Their struggles and growth as they learn to work together.

Five Things I Like About Writing
Thanks @somethingclevermahogony and @theeccentricraven for the tag! Be warned I'm probably gonna ramble.
1) Inner Child Healing: Since I was super little, reading all the time and watching my dad write his book, I always said I wanted to be a writer. I gave up on that while I was still in formal education (thank you, Gifted Kid Burnout) so going back to my roots now and writing my goofy lil novels is something I know little me would think is super fucking cool.
2) Self Indulgence: My biggest pet peeve when reading is when I want to read something so incredibly specific that I know no one else will have wrote yet and it gnaws at me for weeks, so writing allows me to write what I want to read and have it instantly and readily available lmao.
3) World/Character Building: As a chronic (maladaptive) daydreamer who was told several times as a child that their imagination was too wild, getting to spend hours dreaming up my own little worlds and characters and then bringing them to life on paper is like a dream come true. And getting to share them with other people??? Stunning.
4) Productivity: Before seriously working on my WIPs, when I had a day off work I'd find myself aimlessly wandering around the house tidying, or rotting in bed and I hated it and would honestly rather have just gone to work. But now that I have my silly little dudes and their silly little worlds to write about, I feel productive on a day off whether I write 300 words or 3K. Good for my mental health innit.
5) An Excuse To Read: Linking back to the above point, I kinda stopped reading for a while after college because I found that I didn't feel productive enough if I was just chilling out with a book - but NOW it counts as research sooooo 😈
Ans I wanna tag @darkangel319 @panticwritten and @jinnybinghamsghost

can you tell me more about that werewolf Wip of yours??
oh I ABSOLUTELY can.
I'm currently working on writing the blurb for it now but as a brief overview of said gay dark academia werewolf murder novel -
Main Character and their love interest attend a prestigious university deep in the English/Scottish countryside. MC is hiding a huge secret - they're a werewolf.
MC notices that one of their professors is taking perhaps too much of an interest in LI. When one evening they discover just how twisted the Professor's obsession had become, MC knew there was one way they could protect LI for certain...
A murdered professor, a campus-wide witch hunt, bizarre animal attacks and at the heart of it all - a love story riddled with secrets, betrayal, ambiguous morals and one hell of a doomed romance.
Can't lie my dudes, I'm excited for this one.

Me being gravely ill for a week, resorting to rewatching my comfort media and falling into another period of intense hyperfixation, leading to me considering writing fanfiction for my Emotional Support Unhinged Egotistical Narcissist Comfort Character to avoid the mind numbing pain of writers block for my current WIPs?

Heads Up, 7 Up
Thank you for tagging me @akiwitch !
Their nights were spent under the vast expanse of the starlit sky and the crackling campfire provided a comforting backdrop to their conversations. Even Nevaeh ventured out of the caravan at night to listen to the stories told over the chorus of chirping crickets and the whispering of wind through the nearby trees, though she stayed just outside of the circle of travellers, perched on a log with her knees tucked up to her chest. Every so often, she would look up and catch Teo’s eyes. He would look away just as quickly and dive back into whatever conversation he had been having, but Nevaeh knew she wasn’t seeing things. She simply put it down to morbid curiosity. What she wasn’t aware of was the way Teo’s chest tightened every time he looked at her while her attention was elsewhere - a dove oblivious to the fox lying in wait.

Rewrite Game
Thanks for the tag @akiwitch !
Rules: rewrite the last line of the person who tagged you however you want, then give your last line for other people to try!
My Line: The icy fear already working through his chest became a living thing, lashing against the inside of his ribs.
Rewrite: Fear, once burrowed deep within his chest, was now pulsing and writhing like a creature clawing it's way out from between his ribcage.
Your line: The air in the ancient chamber was thick with the scent of burning incense, the acrid smoke winding its way around Killeen as she prepared for the forbidden ritual.

WIP Questionnaire (2.0)
I was tagged a second time by @finchwrites, so I'll do this for my second WIP too.
Project.Ink
1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?
As I mentioned in this post, as someone from an Irish family, I wanted to write a novel that paid homage to our folklore, so I decided to mess with the general concept of a 'changeling'. Rowan came to be when I tried to think up a character that was a faerie who, for some reason, believed they were a human - and the rest followed.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Not so much a theme song, but Rowan and Killeen's song is definitely Dying Star by Ashnikko and Ethel Cain. I'd probably have it playing in the background when Killeen realises who Rowan actually is to her.
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
Rowan was the first character I created for this story so I do have a soft spot for her in my heart, but because I knew I wanted this to be a queer story, when I created Killeen I basically just turned my ideal woman into a lesbian fae warrior so??? of course I would die for her?? Plus being The Inquisitor for The Sidhe Court is kind of a slay, no?
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
Never read it, but from what I've heard I can only assume ACOTAR peeps would be into it. If anyone has ever watched Zone Blanche/The Black Spot (spooky french supernatural murder drama), that is EXACTLY the vibe I'm going for - just Irish (and if you haven't watched it you should).
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
There are two parallel storylines in the story - Rowan's storyline when she is taken into the Fae realm, and the second storyline that follows the aftermath in her small town when her parents report her missing. I struggle a fair bit with actually writing the aforementioned second storyline because I get so caught up with all the lesbian dumbassery that I forget there is in fact a second layer to my plot.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Crows, ravens and other corvids are ALWAYS a motif in my stories. The Sidhe also have a strong supernatural connection to the flora and fauna so not only are there several different kinds of forest dwelling animals in the story, but most of the characters can communicate with them!
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
Honestly for a fantasy book my setting/map is rather small so most of the travel is done by foot. I guess there'll probably be a few police cars involved and maybe some kind of sailboat at some point lmao
8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?
In the earlier stages of the first draft atm. I started this as a passion project only about 6 months ago even though I had the plot idea for a couple of years.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
Queer fae. Need I say more? Also I'm hoping the fact that there are a lot more spooky/horror elements to this story, as opposed to a lot of faerie narratives, will interest people. It's all going to be set in Ireland as well so that's another demographic that I hope will enjoy it!
10. What are your hopes for your wip?
It's a queer story where the characters are just... queer.... and in love... there's no homophobia, no "I'm gay and that's okay and normal!", no having to come out - it just is right from the get go, a gay story about gay girls being gay without that being the focal point of the narrative - so I hope that if it ever gets published, it'll be a book that queer people can go to when they need a spooky gay fantasy without any of the trauma and alienation that we feel as queer people irl. I hope people connect to the story and take some comfort in the darkness.
And I'm gonna tag @sleepywriter00 @akiwitch and @eccaiia

WIP Questionnaire
Thank you for the tag @buffythevampirelover !
Project.Seraph :)
1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?
The character of Nevaeh was my leap of faith into this one. Previously I had only ever really written horror/thriller and I had always been too afraid to create my own fantasy world, but for some reason I just couldn't leave the idea of my broken little angel alone. The more I imagined her in different scenarios and fleshed out different characters and a plot, I knew I had to write it seriously or I'd never forgive myself.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Honestly I really fuck with Plenty by Aeseaes for this one. The whole vibe is immaculate and it really encapsulates the mood of the story through the lyrics.
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
I truly love them all for different reasons (except maybe Marco, fuck you Marco.) Though Nevaeh is my sweet innocent angel baby could never do anything wrong ever loml, and Queen Reinette is a favourite because I adore a good villain and I am very proud of the way I've written her character.
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
I'm hoping the same kind of people who tore through Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments will find my books to be worth of a good read. Also my fellow 'Merlin made me realise I was queer' pals. Not quite as high fantasy but I think P.Seraph is sometimes quite reminiscent of The Witcher too.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
There are so many scenes that I've already imagined and desperately want to write, so writing everything in between to bridge the scenes together is so painful lmao. What do you mean I have to write about the journey to the castle before I get to write my big dramatic inciting incident???
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
A lot of the first half is based in the woodland so many animals are encountered, though crows and various other corvids are a recurring motif. Also a lot of horses! Most characters travel by horse, including my little band of travelling thieves and the Queen's guards. In the marketplace there is also a very well known cat that belongs to the tavern-owner and likes to steal from people's stalls lmao
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
Mostly by foot, by horse, or by a carriage drawn by a horse.
8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?
Still the first draft rn but it's coming along smoothly. I have also been writing Project.Ink and fleshing out Project.Claw so I haven't been dedicating quite as much time to P.Seraph as I would like.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
Who doesn't love a good enemies to lovers, right? This story absolutely reeks of betrayal, dark royalty, doomed love, war.... idk it has everything in it that I wanted to read all in one story and I hoped some people could relate
10. What are your hopes for your wip?
Obviously, I hope to be published one day, and if it is, my hope is that it will be one of those books that leaves people reeling after they've read it. I want people to connect to it, to cry over it, to read it so many times it doubles in size. I want people to be as violently in love with my characters as I am and I want people to relate to the story in whichever way they see fit. I want it to mean something to someone. One day. Eventually.
