This is honestly so hard for me. I get so mad at the world and all the evil I see around me. I want to take everyone by the shoulders and shake them and say, "Don't you see how you're killing yourself and everyone around you?!?" But I don't have that ability, that gift to make people see. Probably because I get so mad, so of course that just makes them close off.
I need to focus more on the good. It's everywhere around me. God is everywhere, He's in everything. I need to focus on that, focus on showing Him to people.

Say it louder for the people in the back:
CATHOLICISM IS NOT CHRISTIANITY, AND CATHOLICS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS.

Ugh, Catholics just stop… seriously. Quit talking.

I'm not entirely sure of this myself. I feel like we're all guilty of attributing the works of the Spirit to the devil at some point. Certainly before we accept Jesus, but even sometimes after. And blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the one sin that is not forgiven (Matthew 12:31-32). Adding the word "knowingly" makes it make more sense but I'm still not certain this is accurate.
Ok, so... let's say that, even if you're a Christian, you see weird things happening and you're not sure if they're from God or not. I don't think this is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
What would be blasphemy would be to finally, truly see that YES this IS the Holy Spirit and you stop even denying that it is. And you pretty much just straight up say "nope, don't care." This is what Pharoah did when he hardened his heart.
It's like you come face to face with the Holy Spirit. You see Him, you hear Him, you feel Him. And you tell Him to His face that He is not God. That's what Satan did.
And THIS- THIS is the reason why anyone who rejects Christ goes to hell. Pretty much everyone gets a chance, at some point in their life, to see the Spirit face to face. And if they reject Him, they don't get a second chance. Because they did exactly what Satan did, tell God to His face, "no, I don't want you, I refuse to follow you."
Hell is not for "bad" people, it is for people who have rejected Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Blaspheming the Holy Spirit doesn't mean talking badly about him, it means seeing the work of God and giving the credit to Satan.

I wonder if people normally know that when we say the scriptures were inspired by God, that it has little if anything to do with "inspiration" in the modern sense of creative inspiration and is based on the literal etymology "breathed into"

"You are making the bold assumption that your specific religion is the correct one"
Yeah, same to you.
Tumblr media
OK but what kind of person is going to believe their religion is incorrect?
Like why would you hold a belief you know to be untrue?
This is such cultural relativist brainrot.

Dear Christian kids:
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “let your parents belittle you constantly and disproportionately”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “let your parents physically absue you”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “let your parents steal from you”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “let your parents lie about you”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “let your parents endanger you physically or emotionally”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “your parents can sexually assault you”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “your parents can force you to wear clothes that are uncomfortable or sleep in a bed that causes you physical pain or demand that you speak with a specific regional accent”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “you are your parent’s slave”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “you owe your parents something for giving birth to you”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does not mean “lie to protect your parents”
“Honor thy father and thy mother” does mean you should basically respect your parents and obey them within reason. Your parents do not get to change the definition of respect to include whatever they think you should do. The definition of respect does not include mindless obedience. And when the point comes that your parents tell you to do something morally wrong, at that point you are no longer required to obey them. Morally wrong includes things that are harmful to you.
The Bible commands that children honor their parents, but it also tells parents not to provoke their children (Ephesians 6:4). You are permitted to dissolve the parent-child relationship if your parents are not putting effort into it in a loving and Biblical manner. It is tragic, and in a perfect world would not be necessary, but we don’t live in a perfect world and sometimes it is necessary.
If you go to someone for help and their first response is “honor thy father and thy mother”, that person is not someone you can trust. “Honor thy father and thy mother” does not occur to rational people when a child says their parents are hurting them.
If you are being abused, it is okay to get out, even if the people in your church and family tell you that you owe your parents this. God loves you, and this is not what he wants for you.

Post made me laugh a little, but it is true. Salvation is free for the taking- but it's all or nuthin. You either give your entire SOUL to Jesus, or you don't have Him at all.
"Trying Jesus" is not a thing. The bread of life doesn't come as Costco samples. You have to buy the whole thing. It's free but you have to buy it

Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me. Job 23:6
Read this verse this week, and it reminded me that God is on our side. He doesn't want us to perish. He doesn't want us to hurt. He wants us to turn to Him. He is the source of strength, of life. If we go to Him, if we talk to Him, He doesn't punish us for our questions, He helps us.

Well, he wouldn't be the first pope to go against his own church's beliefs.
Tumblr media
this is cute but also i like to think the pope has to preface every single statement with "this isn't dogma but" like he has to break character for a sec and clarify that he's not speaking ex cathedra

Incarnation
Adam’s flesh and Adam’s bone
Cast uncovered far from home
Adam’s children, Adam’s kin
Passed down to them is Adam’s sin
Eve and Adam’s progeny
Pass hand to hand fruit from that tree
Whose juice stained Adam red like blood
And dribbled down his line full-flood.
Forlorn, decrepit, Adam’s race
Sink dejected to disgrace
Drag their feet into their doom
Find in every place no room.
God of Heaven, God of might
Saw Adam’s children ‘neath the night
Their wails and cries they pierced His heart
God of mercy took their part
“Adam’s children, Adam’s seed
I have seen your deepest need
So Eve’s daughter bears a Son
Wait and watch for Him to come”
Ages come and ages go
Their groaning gains an edge of hope
Adam’s line, the race of men
Know not they slouch toward Bethlehem
But midst their labor and their sighs
Adam’s kind look toward the skies
Emmanuel, God in our midst,
How could mere men prepare for this?
The night is dark, the night is deep
The world with labored breathing sleeps
Virgin fair and virgin mild
Travails with her firstborn child
One single, tiny, wailing cry
Shatters Earth and splits the sky
And even the heavenly angels sing
In wonder of this baby thing
Oh Adam’s flesh and Adam’s bone
God has made in you a home
Look upon the newborn king
God become Adam’s offspring
Humanity, oh woman’s seed,
Thou art redeemed by this new deed
Thou shalt crush the serpent’s head
By birth of one long past the dead
Who this very night is born
The infinite in human form
Fully God and fully man
You have broken Adam’s ban;
Shatter with your love the curse
As Adam last save Adam first
Let sighs and sorrow flee away
Behold, ye dark ones, Spring of Day!
Adam’s kind, weep ye no more
You are purged of pit and sore
This babe has heard your helpless cries
Hear the song that fills the skies!
Your groans and wails will pierce His heart
For God has come to take your part.

(My apologies for hijacking OP's post and going on a ramble.)
A lot of creation scientists believe that the gene pool degraded with each passing generation.
Literally the only scientific reason against inbreeding is because of the increased risk of mutations, especially genetic mutations. Animal husbandmen, farmers, and ranchers knew this for millenia before "science" finally "proved" it.
Given that God allowed brothers and sisters to continue marrying each other for, perhaps, 2-3 centuries after the Flood, I would guess that the Bible proves science true in this case.
One thing I find interesting: God did not tell brothers and sisters to stop marrying until Mosaic Law was introduced. Think about this: the bulk of the Torah was written while the Israelites were wandering for 40 years, after having been freed from slavery in Egypt. Most people think that they were freed under the reign of Ramesses the Great, a 19th dynasty Pharoah. The Israelites were in Egypt for 400 years, so they would have been there during the 18th dynasty, the longest-reigning dynasty in Egyptian history (almost 300 years!).
The Egyptians were notorious for committing every sexual desecration under the sun. Among them was marrying their sisters (remember: NOT considered a perversion by God's law at the time). In fact, Egyptologist Bob Brier, in his The Learning Courses lectures on Egypt, postulated that the Pharoah's legacy was not handed down from father to son, but was decided based on who married the Pharoah's eldest daughter by his chief wife. (I HIGHLY recommend getting your hands on TLC's "History of Ancient Egypt," it's fascinating, and Brier is an EXCELLENT, highly engaging and highly entertaining, teacher. And a bonus point: he even uses Bible references in his lectures, where relevant, AND gives detailed, well-thought-out reasons as to why we have never found any mention of Joseph or Moses in Egyptian history. Please check it out, it's awesome.)
Think about it: 300 years of brothers marrying half- or full-blooded sisters. And their children marrying each other.
Wanna know who were the most famous kings of the 18th dynasty? These guys:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Akhenaten (on the left) and his son Tutankhamun (on the right), 2 of the last 3 kings of the 18th dynasty. There's been a lot of medical studies done on King Tut, and many people suggest that he had numerous malformities, that he was crippled, and so forth. As for Akhenaten, the archaeological community is divided on whether he was depicted that way because of artistic convention during his reign, or because he really looked like that due to a lot of genetic mutations.
So the Israelites came from a culture with severe inbreeding habits and their resulting issues. But would they have learned from that? Of course not! So God gave them a law saying "nope, no more." Not to restrict them in any way, but to PROTECT them.
In addition, they were headed for a land inhabited by the Canaanites. I'm not as well-versed in Canaanite history, but I know they practiced inbreeding, too (and I hope I'm misremembering on this one, but I think they would even legally marry their own children? gross!). How do the Israelite spies describe the Canaanites? As giants so big that they make the Israelites look like locusts. Remember Goliath? A couple hundred or more years later? Not only was he a giant, he had an abnormal number of fingers and toes. Definite genetic mutations, there.
But yeah, these are the reasons God gave us a law that said not to marry our close kin anymore. And by the time He gave Moses that law, the Israelites numbered in the hundreds of thousands. Why would any guy need to marry his sister when he's got one or two hundred thousand other cute girls to choose from (ok, less than that, because God said to marry within their own tribe- but you get what I mean)?
God allowed brothers and sisters to marry up until that time because it was the only way to "be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth." (The whole "where did Cain get his wife" question and everything.) And He allowed it until long after the Flood because the human population had to be rebuilt from a family of 8.
Another interesting point: the law that forbids sibling marriage coincides with the shortening of the human lifespan. Moses lived to be 120, but just 400 years earlier, Abraham lived to be about 200. And just a few generations before Abraham, Noah's son Japheth lived to be over 600, while Noah was 950.
Creation scientists have gone much more in-depth into this subject than I will in this post, but the obvious connection between the shorter human lifespans and the law forbidding sibling marriage is that the gene pool deteriorated after the Flood.
Just reading Genesis and now I’m thinking about how even some Christians argue that Earth can’t literally be 6,000–7,000 years because of all the varieties of animal subspecies, like microevolution doesn’t WORK that fast, it MUST be a metaphor that Creation only took seven days!
But if you’re going by the Bible, it also says people used to live over 900 years? Which def isn’t how we humans work anymore? And all humans and animals today descended from those on the Ark, yet this wasn’t banned by God for many centuries, suggesting intensely rich genes pools that hadn’t yet been spread out enough for inter-family marriage to cause genetic deformities?
I’m just saying, we might be assuming a lot to think biology today is anywhere NEAR identical to what may have been goin’ on in the early days.

To anyone who reads my blog:
lol, i don't think i have to worry about anyone thinking i look "perfect," because most of the time i just get mad, but yeah, if you haven't figured it out, I'm a mess, too.
I think I can speak for every other Christian blogger on here when I say:
This blog may make it look like everything is perfect, but I war with my flesh and stumble into sin so often. I am deeply, deeply flawed and have many things I’m still working on overcoming. I struggle with sin daily.
One of the things I always feared in having a Christian blog was unintentionally creating a “perfect Christian” image.
I’m anything but.

I gotta say: I grew up with Chick Publications. And believed them.
But, like...
Over the last few years, I've come to realize that they got a lot of stuff wrong.
Not everything! Not even most things! But a lot more than what some people I know care to admit. Jack Chick was not the all-knowing prophet of God that some people have made him out to be.
And, like...
When this war started, I was certain that God was 100% on Israel's side. And, I mean, He is! But maybe not in the way we think. Maybe Israel won't win.
I really don't know what this "pre-mil" position is, because all I've ever heard is that Israel as the nation it is right now will continue until the rise of the Beast. But I'm not certain of that right now.
I do know 2 things:
God said He will curse anyone who curses Israel. So I'm not saying whether Israel is right or wrong in how they're waging this war, I'm just praying that God straightens them out if they're not doing what He wants, and that He protects His people.
The Abomination of Desolation, where the Beast walks into the Holy of Holies and sacrifices to Satan, is supposed to happen before Armageddon (not sure when, tho). So when they start rebuilding the Temple, THAT's when we need to start worrying.
Pre-mils stop assuming you know the outcome of the Israel-Hamas war based on your end times theories challenge

Many thanks to whoever wrote those tags!!! This isn't the first story I've heard like that, but it's the first one that I had solid proof for that didn't come out of a book somewhere.
BTW, plz make sure you tell people about what believing in Santa did to you, and encourage others to tell their stories, too. And the Easter bunny and tooth fairy and anything else like that. Because I've told people, people who claim to be "good Christians", that this is exactly what happens, that this is exactly what I've seen and heard of, and they say, and I quote, "this is just your OPINION, it's not facts."
I didn't grow up believing that Santa is real. My mom refused to let me believe that Santa is real- or the Easter bunny, or the tooth fairy, or leprechauns, or anything else. She made sure I knew that the Bible is 100% true from cover to cover, and that all the fairy tales in this world are just that: fairy tales. And why? Because she grew up believing in Santa and stuff like that, and it messed her up for life.
One woman I've talked to about this, she got so mad at me, called me a hypocrite for "telling people how to raise their kids when I don't have any," and idk, she's probably right about that. But I'm torn between laughing hysterically and being heartbroken, because she's such a hypocrite, herself- she's saying, "I grew up believing in Santa, my kids grew up believing in Santa, and we turned out fine," and yet she doesn't believe the Bible is the Word of God. She gets mad because I tell her to stop lying to her kids, and yet she's exactly the kind of person I'm talking about, that doesn't believe that God is gracious enough to tell us the truth.
So, please, anyone reading this, if you feel like believing in Santa messed you up on believing in the Bible, say something about it. In fact, if Christians have ever lied and harmed you in any way, say something! If you can't believe in God's love because lies and hypocrisy have turned you from Him, say something! The Christian community needs to be SLAMMED in the face with how far we have fallen!
It is perfectly all right if people hate Christians for speaking the truth. I mean, Jesus was crucified by people who didn't wanna hear the truth (interestingly enough, by the "religious" people of His day, who professed to follow God and were liars and hypocrites, themselves). It is NOT all right that Christians have lied and abused so many people that it has forced these people to turn their backs on Jesus, and He will hold those who call themselves by His name accountable for our misdeeds. We, Christians, will have the blood of all those that we have hurt on OUR hands when we stand before Him.
If I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. Ezekiel 3:18-19
Feel free to elaborate on which religion in the tags if you answer yes.
We ask your questions so you don’t have to! Submit your questions to have them posted anonymously as polls.
