I work at a movie theater.

And personally? To be in the tickets booth, and see young girls, teenagers, adult women, coming in to see Barbie,

the most highlighter pink outfits, some of them coming in with the dolls they’re dressed as, laughing to each other, cheering for each other,

to see the men they’re coming to see it with, dressed in pink, cheering them on, taking their pictures with smiles and cheers in the lobby at the photo op

touches something so deep in me

I can’t say any nuances of the movie that haven’t already been said, but like, fuck man, love is so deep and so kind and to be able to see glimpses of it from behind my little ticket desk makes me a little less nihilistic.

Tears that aren’t worth crying.

“What? What do you mean?”

Seraphina’s heart seemed to drop to her feet, her golden eyes seeming to leak out of her. Shiny, bright gold tears dripped down her rosy cheeks, blood seeping from her wet nose.

Calamity looked down on Seraphina with disgust swirling around the edge of her irises. They lifted a bony, pale hand and tightly gripped onto Seraphina’s ear, pinching it. The pain swirled around her head, nerves desperately calling to let go. The pain spread throughout her body, and she started trembling at the amount of fierce pressure applied to her ears. Calamity bent down, putting her cold, menacing face near Seraphinas.

“You will never be my sister.” Calamity sneered in Seraphina’s ear, her hot breath uncomfortably close. They lifted their hand from the ear and strongly shoved her to the ground, a large thump echoing across the hallway. Looking up in pure fear and dismay, Seraphinas gaze was clouded with anxiety and stress. She used her delicate hands to try and move back, but ended up cutting herself in the process. Seraphina quickly pulled her hand back, trying to focus her vision on the wet, crimson blood that was slowly and painfully leaking out of her hand. Tears edged the corners of her vision, everything turned blurry.

“Good luck.” Calamity whispered lowly, voice edged in monstrosity as she kicked Seraphina’s head, her vision turning black.
