Watching Enies Lobby Arc and a thought occurred to me about Saul's laugh

His "dereshishishi" is awfully close to Luffy's "shishishi" isn't it? I wonder if Robin subconsciously found Luffy safe just because of that, outside of her deciding to tag along with the Straw Hats for the heck of it

So have a little drabble/scene idea that came to mind :3c

The first time Robin hears that laugh, she thinks she's dreaming.

To be fair, she hasn't had a dream about Saul in years, hasn't had any dreams in years. Mostly her nights are filled witu sleeplessness or brief moments of dreamless sleep. She hasn't let herself sleep long enough for dreams to turn into nightmares in a long, long time.

So when she hears a shishishshi echoing across the deck of the Going Merry, every single cell in her body freezes in place. Her book falls from her limp hands, but she doesn't really care as she stands as if in a dream.

Cautiously, she creeps to the edge of the upper deck, where the tangerine trees whisper in the wind, the leaves too echoing that shishishishi. She looks down, mind blank, body moving without her clear thought, and--

Monkey D. Luffy cackles below her, his loud shishishshi echoing as he chases the screaming forms of the Doctor and the Longnose.

Robin can only stare, her heart thumping, her mouth dry. Her mouth forms words, but even she herself doesn't know what she is trying to say.

Somewhere in her memories, another deeper voice is laughing along with the young captain below her, a deep dereshishishishi mixing with the higher pitched shishishishi. Somewhere in her memories, as she watches Monkey D. Luffy swing a giggling Doctor around, a voice is murmuring amidst the crackling of flames.

"Listen carefully, Robin... You're all alone right now..."

Something trembles within her chest.

"But someday, without a doubt, you will meet friends!"

Monkey D. Luffy falls as the Longnose tackles him from behind, his shrieks melting into his laughter. The Navigator and Swordsman heckle the wriggling trio from the side, the former's laugh mixing in with the shishishishi.

"The sea is vast... Someday for sure..."

The galley door swings open and the Cook walks out with a tray of drinks. He scolds the laughing Doctor and Longnose and flicks away Monkey D. Luffy's hand.

Another shishishishi follows.

"You'll find friends who will protect you!"

Robin swallows around the lump in her throat.

Swallows what might, just might, be hope.

Continuation of divinity au sketches!

Luffy showing off Sanji to Zoro, much to Sanji's horror and chagrin.

A little background idea: Luffy is the avatar of the Sun Deity, but the more...vengeful half, whereas Usopp (not shown) is the more benevolent half. Likewise, Robin and Zoro are the two avatars for the Moon, with Robin as the more benevolent side and Zoro as the meaner side.

And Sanji...well, he's a different kind of divine. :3c

Some Robin headcanons after learning that her eye color is actually brown in the manga rather than blue like the anime??

Solution? Heterochromia 👀

She would switch between brown and blue contacts as a child and all through Baroque Works, mostly to try and keep people off her trail. She keeps up the contacts even after joining the Straw Hats.

Only after Enies Lobby, does she stop using the contacts as much, going days without contacts. Post time skip, she fully stops, using sunglasses preferably to hide her identity.
