This is my personal preference/opinion and a head-canon I would really like to see in volume 10, but I would really like to see each member of team RWBY to individually receive training from the other 3 maidens, in preparation to fight against Cinder and ultimately Salem.

Team RWBY are amazing as a team, but with their past experiences and losses against a certain maiden, and “magic” in general, I feel now is a good time for them to learn on how to better handle against “magic” users.

And with potentially Winter, Spring and Summer being in the same place, there in no better opportunity to learn about “magic” then right now….

So to begin with the most obvious pairing….

Weiss and Winter:

One reason I would like to see these two train together is that it could play into Winter’s fear of losing Weiss again. She would want her sister to be ready for anything and practices with Weiss relentlessly. Weiss would more then love to have Winter train her, but it could possibly lead to uncomfortable tension between the two as Winter pushes Weiss more and more.

This could inevitably lead to Whitley, Willow, and Klein cutting between the two sisters and have the whole Schnee family go into probably their first heart to heart conversation with each other, since the fall of Atlas, and begin building the new foundations of the Schnee family moving forward.

Now for the next pairings, be prepared, I’m throwing curve balls at you….

Blake and Yang, with the Summer Maiden:

Now for this pairing I have to give a little a context. I am under the same camp of people who theorized that each maiden has a “connection” to each member of team RWBY.

Ruby - Cinder (enemies)

Weiss - Winter (sisters)

Yang - Raven (mother/daughter)

If we follow this train of thought then it would be easy to assume that the Summer Maiden might have a “connection” with Blake. I’m imagining that whoever the Summer maiden is that they could have a much better working relationship with Blake, compared to the other girls.

Now for the reasons I included Yang together with Blake are actually fairly simple…..except for one.

Yang is actually one of the most fairly easiest people to get along with. If the Summer Maiden is who I think it is then they would no doubt love to train together with Yang, along side with Blake.

After the official Union of “Bumblebee” in volume 9 and after how much their teamwork has synced near perfectly, it’s almost impossible to see them apart now.

The Summer Maiden would no doubt train them individually of coarse, and both Blake and Yang could give each other pointers on how to get better at a certain topic that one another is lacking on.

Now I said there was one other reason that Yang would be training with Summer Maiden, and that is because of her mother Raven. Obviously the two have a discomforting relationship with each other, so before things could start mending between the two of them I can imagine they would keep their distance from each other for most of their time in Vacuo.

Now for the last pairing you are definitely going to be asking yourself “Why?”…..

Ruby and Raven:

To me……I believe that after what Ruby had experienced back in the Ever-After, she will begin to experience a “change” within herself to have a strong desire to be better, and to be stronger then what she currently is. A desire to better focus on the aspects of herself that she feels that need to be approved upon, without the burdens of responsibilities weighing down upon her.

I imagine Raven would see this “desire” building up within Ruby and oddly feel reminiscent to how she felt back in her younger days, and find a particular kinship with her former partner’s daughter, and agree to train Ruby.

Not only that but I can also imagine Ruby would feel immense pent up aggression, in regards challenging against Cinder, and Raven would be a fitting teacher for Ruby.

Raven has several years of training as maiden and would no doubt know certain “tricks” to utilize against another maiden. She also has first hand experienced fighting against Cinder and actually won between the two.

Another reason why Raven and Ruby would be together is because of their connection with Summer Rose. There is obviously something building up to happen between the two, after what was discovered in Volume 9, so it seems fitting that putting these two together is a must definite story-wise.

I obviously know that something like this may not actually happen when we finally get into Volume 10 and Vacuo (#GREENLIGHTVOLUME10), but I would find it amazing to have training arc like this to happen for team RWBY, especially for future battles to come.

What do y’all think? Would you be interested in seeing a joint training session between the maidens and team RWBY in Volume 10???

This may be a really weird take I’m about to bring up to most of you ,about the possibility of bringing Penny back to life, but If there was a chance she was brought back in the future……

…..I would find it really interesting if she came back as a child version of herself instead of the Penny we are all acquainted with…..

…..Let Me Explain 😓…..

I have a HC that during the time RWBY + J are missing from Remnant, Penny somehow comes back into existence but as child version of herself and with no memory or recollection of who she was previously….

Oscar, Nora, Ren and emerald found her in the middle of the wastelands, while out on a scouting mission, and saves her from a Grimm attack. Happy, shocked and confused to find Penny in the state that she is in, the team brings her back to Vacuo to show Pietro what they found.

Emotions overwhelm Pietro seeing his daughter again but “Mini-Penny” is frightened and confused to who this old man is in front of her. After questioning the child Pietro came to understand the situation in front of them and decides he will look after her. It didn’t matter to him if she had no memory of their time together, she was still Penny, and his daughter to him.

So with “Mini-Penny” introduced I find the idea of Penny coming back to life like this to be really interesting for two reasons:

The new type of character interactions that would be created from this change/transformation. Everyone who knew of Penny would still treat Mini-Penny as if she was still “Penny” but dote and love on her as anyone would towards a child.

Ruby would absolutely adore Mini-Penny and would go feral towards anyone who would treat her unkindly. #MamaBearRuby

Weiss and Winter would treat her like a princess and take her clothes shopping anytime they would get the chance.

Blake or Oscar would read her different children stories and fairy tales as much as she would want.

Yang would teach her as many dance moves as she can to record on her scroll for later.

Nora and Ren would make her breakfast anytime she wishes, especially pancakes…..much to the dismay of Ren who is trying his best to give her a healthy diet.

Jaune would be hesitant at first to interact with Mini-Penny but they’ll eventually warm up to each other and he would let her ride on top of his shoulders and have piggyback rides. He would also let her call him “Juniper” when ever they do and she would yell out “Onward Juniper!”.

Now for reason #2….

2. In a series that revolves around fairy tales and fairy tale allusions, it is incredible we have yet to have a literal child as a supporting character within the series, that has existing relationships with the main cast.

I think it would be amazing, and intriguing, to have a supporting character that young because we would have someone within the story to naturally develop an admiration to team RWBY, and treat them as their literal heroes that came from a fairy tale.

Team RWBY doesn’t need the entire world to treat them as heroes, so long as just one person they know and love treats them as such…..then that is enough. And with an established character as Penny to be that person for team RWBY I would find it bittersweet, but beautiful at the same time given their history with each other.

This is again a HC of mine but I would like to hear your opinions on this if you would like to share….

What would be your thoughts on a future with saying goodbye to our Penny and welcoming sweet little “Mini-Penny” into the story?

Alright just sent in my question for the RTX Q/A and I hope they somehow see it 🤷🏻‍♂️ lol

“What are the current official ages for everyone in Team RWBY and Team JN_R + Oscar?”

I have tons of other questions I would like to ask but this one has to be answered first and foremost, because it has been years since we had any official clarification from the writers of RWBY about the ages of the characters and I think now is a good time for an update 😤.

Plus there are some of us, including myself, that still believe Ruby is still 16 and would appreciate it to know from the writers themselves if she had indeed turned 17.

I ask those who would like to comment down below, that believe Ruby is 17, to please bear with my stubbornness of wanting this question answered and not be mean-spirited towards me about it.

I understand most within the FNDM have held on to the speculation of Ruby turning 17 back in volume 6 and has considered it “fact” for a long time now, but for myself and for others we would like to hear it straight from the the writers themselves instead of from the FNDM.

This is probably just me wanting this to happen……but I’m hoping that when Yang’s semblance eventually evolves, it has abilities similar to that of a “Phoenix” rather then that of a “Dragon”

A Phoenix symbolizes “Rebirth” and “Healing” and for a fighter like Yang to be able to gain the ability to heal not only herself but others as well…..just to me feels like a great character development for Yang to have in the future.

Semblance “Burn” evolves into “Phoenix Burn”

Yang’s hair transforms into “Phoenix feathers”

Any energy Yang stores up can now be used for both strengthening her attacks and to heal any injuries from herself and others around her.

Plus “Yang The Yellow Phoenix” just sounds so f’n cool!!! 🤗

Edit: I just thought about this but Phoenix’s are “birds”…….and “cats” like to eat birds……..and Blake is now together with Yang as a couple……

…….I might have just unintentionally created a new lewd joke for Bumblebee shippers……

……I will not apologize lol……

This is a bit of a head-canon of mine that I have had for awhile but before team STRQ became the “Coolest team to ever graduate Beacon”, I kind of hope they were actually the “Most dysfunctional people to have ever became a team” when they enrolled into Beacon.

We all know what type of individuals they became as adults, but I think it would be a neat twist in the narrative that they were much different people back in their Pre-Beacon days.

Branwen Twins

We all know that the true reason Raven and Qrow enrolled into Beacon was because their tribe sent them to “infiltrate” the academy and learn the ways of “huntsmen”, so that the tribe would have had better knowledge to kill them.

So upon entering Beacon we can easily imagine Raven and Qrow being close guarded with one another and possibly could have looked down on other students as being “weaker” then them.

Taiyang Xiao Long

For myself I have always imagined Tai to have had been the “Fighter” of team STRQ, due to his fighting skills and physical build. As an adult he strikes me as someone who has found a certain “balance” when it comes to fighting, probably due to the experience he has gained since his Beacon days.

So….it has led me to also believe that must have been not the case when he enrolled into beacon and was still a teenager. I have a belief that Tai must have been someone who wanted to prove his strength, find the next challenge and have had a desire to become the strongest fighter in all of remnant.

I can imagine if that were the case he must have been a Hot-headed individual when he enrolled and didn’t think too much of even wanting to join in a team with anyone.

Summer Rose

Now this is a big one because there is still so much mystery into her character that it’s debatable of what kind of person she actually was, outside the stories mentioned by those that were close to her. All we know is that she was very kind and sweet to her family, was an amazing huntress and according to Qrow was a bit of a “brat” in their Beacon days.

To me……my biggest HC for Summer is that before she became the woman we presumably know of today, she was actually cold-hearted and had severe trust issues when she enrolled into Beacon.

Her family was killed at an early age, by unknown assassins, and she had been on the run ever since.

An orphan, with no where to go, learning ways on how to survive in a world full of Grimm on her own.

Activating her silver eyes at young age and painting a target on her back anytime she used them and having no idea her eyes were the reason she being targeted in the first place.

Possibly learning down the road about huntsmen academies and thinking it being a safe haven for her from her assailants.

When she came to beacon she probably had no intention of even wanting to become a huntress, and just thought of the academy as a place to keep low for a short time, until she felt it was appropriate to move on.

Her tragic childhood and upbringing left her cold hearted and in an almost emotionless state, that made her into an even more dangerous individual to anyone who would try to get close to her. Which is why she wears her hood up at all times and keep to herself silently.

So if you could imagine Summer, Tai, Raven and Qrow being what I had just described up above when they enrolled into beacon….

And eventually found themselves taking part in the team selection exam……

You can also imagine that when they first met each other, everyone around them must have thought there would be no way those 4 would ever become a “team”….

…..Until eventually at graduation those same 4 disfucfional kids became “the coolest team to ever graduate Beacon”.

What do you think? Might actually be a good backstory for team STRQ in my opinion lol.

ROSEGARDEN VOLUME 10 PROMPT: SECRET TRAINING

Some context to provide some world-building and of what I think may happen in volume 10 before I write the following prompt:

During the time team RWBY and Jaune weren’t present, Oscar has made a name for himself in Vacuo for fighting off Grimm at a young age, with the skills he inherited from Ozpin. People refer to him as “The Prodigy”.

Taiyang Xiao long will be in Vacuo, and reunite with his daughters.

Headmaster Theodore wishes to provide advanced training to team RWBY and Jaune, to help them get stronger.

Tai being an overprotective father bluntly tells Theodore he does not want his daughters training for the war heading their way.

Ruby and Yang argue against their fathers wishes, to which family drama ensues with the three.

Tai grudgingly accepts Yang participating in the training, but refuses to back down from Ruby joining.

Tai makes everyone swear they would not show what they had learned from Theodore to Ruby including Ozpin, who at the time was in possession of Oscar’s body.

Ruby angrily storms off from her father and walks the streets of Vacuo, alone to her thoughts.

Alright that’s enough context, onto the prompt!!!

Ruby frustratingly walks through the streets of Vacuo, after her intense conversation with her father Taiyang.

Ruby: “UGH!! ~ I CAN’T BELIEVE HIM!!! THIS ISN’T THE TIME TO BE WORRYING ABOUT MY SAFETY!!!”

In her anger Ruby failed to notice a few thieves and outlaws tailing her, as she makes her way through an alleyway. Soon after she is ambushed by the bad men and demands her to give what money she has over to them.

Not in the mood to deal with her attackers Ruby proceeds to draw out her weapon, but is shocked to find crescent rose not on her.

Ruby: “Oh no! I must have left Crescent Rose back at the academy when I left!!”

Noticing her worried expression the outlaws launched themselves to Ruby, expecting to have an easy win. Ruby proceeds to dodge and maneuver herself from the attacks with her semblance for a brief while. Until they used their semblances to entrap Ruby from using her semblance and box her in against a stone wall.

Prepared for the worst Ruby readies herself for a brawl as her attackers launches themselves again at her, only to fail again as they are knocked back by a “Green Blur”. Oscar enters the scene as he stands in front of Ruby, protecting her from the outlaws.

The Thieves stand back up ready to fight, but as soon as they noticed who Oscar was they proceed to step back and run away, not wanting any further trouble.

Relieved of no further violence Oscar puts away “Long Memory” and walks over to Ruby, handing back to her Crescent Rose which he had on hand.

Oscar: “We may be “safe” in Vacuo, but that doesn’t mean it’s the same as the other kingdoms we’ve been to. So it’s probably not the best idea to leave, alone, without your weapon on you.”

Ruby dusts herself off and looks at Crescent Rose in Oscar’s hand, with an agitated but sad look on her face.

Ruby: ……”thanks”…..

Oscar noticing Ruby’s expression takes a second to think and asks Ruby a question.

Oscar: “There is a small shop down the road that sells great fruit beverages for the locals, will you walk with me to try them out?”

Ruby noticing Oscar’s ploy to have a talk with her answers back.

Ruby: “Uh….um…thanks….but I’m….not really in the mood for….”

Oscar: “They also give away freshly baked cookies as free samples….”

Ruby: “………”

Moments later the two find themselves alone, sitting on a rooftop, with two fruit beverages and a carton of cookies.

After a brief conversation with each other Oscar eventually asks Ruby of her feelings towards Taiyang forbidding her to train with the others, to which she angrily answers back.

Ruby: “I Just Don’t Understand What He Is Thinking!!! He knows Salem will eventually make her way here to Vacuo for the relic, and will probably bring a much larger force with her this time around.”

Ruby: “If she does then my silver eyes might be a great help against her, and if the headmaster is willing to give us super advanced training to make us even more stronger, then I NEED to take it!!”

Ruby: I don’t NEED him protecting me and keeping me away from the battle to come!!!

Oscar patiently listens to Ruby as she vents her frustration onto him and after a few moments speaks back to her.

Oscar: …..”He’s only acting this way towards you Ruby because he cares and loves for you..”

Tears begin to swell up in Ruby’s eyes.

Ruby: …..”I don’t NEED his love right now…..I just WANT his support…”

After a brief moment Oscar looks to the horizon of the city below them and takes a another moment to himself to think.

He stands up from where he is sitting and begins to talk back to Ruby.

Oscar: “Well…..the others can’t do anything about it now since Tai made everyone in that room swore to him, including Qrow and Ozpin.”

Ruby’s expression saddens even more as she lowers her head….

Oscar: “…….but….technically I made no such promises….”

Ruby’s eyes lit up as she raises her head back up to look at the boy next to her, as he looks right back at her.

Oscar: “I may or may not know about a local dojo that may be able to provide help for some certain…. discrepancies.”

Ruby looks and listens at Oscar very intently until slowly a big smile spreads across her face…

Oscar smiles back with a mischief grin and extends his hand toward Ruby to help her up.

Oscar: “So……want to do some super-secret training with me?”

As he does Ozpin internally replies back to Oscar.

Ozpin: “Taiyang is not going to be happy about this when he finds out.”

Oscar: “I know…..but I’ll deal with it when that eventually happens.”

Ruby extends her hand back towards Oscar’s until they eventually come together.

Oscar: “Now……I just want to simply help her out.”

So there’s my Volume 10 prompt for a RoseGarden Moment 🤗

RWBY VOLUME 10 VACUO OUTFIT DESIGN: RUBY ROSE

So…….I suck at drawing…..my shame is bottomless…..but I have ideas in my head that requires to be brought out on pen and paper 😓.

So to compensate for what I lack……I’ll try my best to explain how I picture these designs in my head…..with literal…..Pictures….

Ah s***…….I hope this works out well 😭

Alright first on the roster….RUBY ROSE 🌹

(SPOILERS: This will be a long post down below, so be warned and happy reading lol.)

So when thinking about Ruby’s design I wanted to go into the thought of Ruby wanting to move on from her “admiration” of her mother, that she has had for the majority of the series, and change some aspects of her clothing that she took some inspiration from Summer’s clothing.

So with that thought process I choose these aspects from Ruby’s older designs to either be removed and/or change for her new Vacuo outfit…

Shoes/boots

Combat skirt/Corset

Stockings

Hood and cape

So to start out for the basis of the outfit I want to begin with the Combat Skirt and Stockings….

WAIST and LEGS:

For the majority of the series the combat skirt and stockings has been a main aesthetic for Ruby’s design in all her outfits and I think it would be safe to say that the main contributor for those clothing choices had to be related to her admiration of her mother, Summer Rose.

After learning the truth that her mother wasn’t as perfect as she thought she was, I have a strong feeling Ruby would want to make a personal change to her current clothing style and make some changes to stop imitating her mothers clothing style.

With that in mind I believe now would be the appropriate time for Ruby to start growing out of wearing combat skirts and stockings and remove them from future designs, until it felt right to bring them back for future volumes.

So with the combat skirt and stockings removed there needs to be a fundamental change for Ruby’s bottom portion of her outfit. Considering we are now in a heat infested territory, such as Vacuo, I had initially thought of giving her combat shorts for her bottom and legs…..but after much thought I felt “shorts” didn’t really fit into Ruby’s aesthetic and of the changes I’m invisioning her to have.

So after considering other options I came to the conclusion of changing Ruby’s bottom portion of her outfit, from the combat skirt and stockings, to combat pants/leggings as shown below…

The reason I choose the combat pants/leggings is because in all of Ruby’s animation models, in every outfit, her legs look too much like cylinders and not enough like….well legs 😓.

I felt that since Ruby is the fastest of the group it should be more appropriate to have her legs more slender, toned and rendered to have proportions and design the same as Weiss’s legs in her Volume’s 4 - 6 outfit and Blake’s legs in her Volume’s 7 - 9 outfit.

The leggings also provide better breathability for Ruby in the hot climate and provides better flexibility and maneuverability for her combat style and semblance.

Now looking upon the pants I feel like there should be some more changes into the design to better fit into Ruby’s goth/punk aesthetic and to fit even more into Vacuo’s hot climate that she would be experiencing. So I thought…what if we cut off one of the pant’s legs and make it look similar to this…

So looking back to the pants/leggings, here are the following design choices I want to add on down below:

LEGS -

The color of the fabric for the pants will be entirely black, but riding down the pants legs will be a highlight change from black to red.

Cutting and cropping off the left side of the pants’s legs, exposing Ruby’s entire leg openly.

On the right leg will be an added ammo pouch strapped to Ruby’s thigh.

Lastly two red, tactical knee pads will be equipped on both legs.

Now for the waist is the following down below:

WAIST -

Around Ruby’s waist will be her signature ammo belt, completed with two smaller pouches on her left side, opposite from the bullet casings strapped on the right side.

Much like her Beacon outfit and Atlas outfit, her mother’s and Ruby’s emblem will be placed on the front.

And as shown above would be my choices for Ruby’s WAIST and LEGS for her Vacuo outfit.

BOOTS and SHOES:

For Ruby’s footwear I am expecting for her to continue to wear combat boots like she has been throughout the series. So to go along with her pants, that I mentioned above, I imagined a pair of boots similar to the picture down below….

For these pair it doesn’t fit much into Ruby’s goth aesthetic but it does go along well enough with her allusion as “Red Riding Hood” or at the very least as a female warrior wandering through a fairy tale. Here are my design choices down below:

BOOTS -

The boots material is made from the hides of the local wildlife surrounding Vacuo’s desert.

The colorization of the leather is mainly black, with small shades of dark brown mixed in and at the bottom soles is colored red, much like her boots in her Atlas outfit.

The metal used for the buckles are made of entirely of silver.

On the front are custom shell plates, stitched together with red leather, to give an added layer of protection.

Lastly on the outer side of the boots are a custom rose design stitched into the leather.

But if she does end up wanting to change her footwear from combat boots to combat shoes instead, to better incorporate her status as a speedster, then I feel these pair of shoes would fit as well…

Here are the design choices for the shoes down below:

SHOES -

The shoes are installed with custom steel plating within the toe box, but is also made from softer and comfortable material for better tractability and flexibility.

The colorization is mainly black, with the laces and bottom soles colored red, to match with her Atlas outfit’s boots.

An extra layer of steel plating will be on the outside of the toes, as well as behind the heels.

On the sides will be a custom red stitching for a design of a rose.

And as shown above those are my choices for Ruby’s BOOTS and SHOES for her Vacuo outfit.

TORSO, ARMS and HANDS:

When looking back on all of Ruby’s previous outfits, her torso and arms have always incorporated long-sleeved dresses and shirts to balance out along side her combat skirts.

With the new changes, as shown above, added into her next outfit I envisioned an appropriate change to her torso area, that took in consideration of both the hot climate of Vacuo and as well keep a similar semblance of her previous outfits with the long sleeves…

Introducing….and I hope I’m describing this right…a Custom Sleeveless Corset Romper suit, similar to the picture down below:

Much like the pants/leggings shown above, this romper suit will give Ruby extra flexibility for her combat style and much more breathability between the fabric, compared to wearing her regular corsets. The exposed arms also provide more maneuverability for Ruby’s arms, when wielding crescent rose, and gives better relief from excess heat she’ll be experiencing if she were to wear her regular long sleeved shirts.

Here are my design choices for the romper suit down below:

TORSO -

The Corset Romper suit is custom made with lighter materials and leathers to add extra maneuverability and flexibility for intense combat situations.

The colorization is entirely black but on the sides, underneath the arms, will be saturated with the color red.

Under the breast area, surrounding the entire lower back and abdomen, will be a custom silver stitching of vines and thorns, giving off the imagery of Ruby wearing a corset made entirely of silver thorns.

Now as I stated before above I wanted to give a semblance of similarity with her previous outfits, when it came to involving with the sleeves on her arms, and I think adding these compression sleeves, as shown on the image down below, on her arms/forearms would match really well with the romper suit shown above:

Here are my design choices for the sleeves down below:

ARMS -

Much like in real-life the fabric of these compression sleeves will help Ruby’s arm muscles move more efficiently and grant better handling when wielding crescent rose.

Just like the leggings described above, the color of the sleeves will be black but would gradually turn red downwards until it ends at the wrists.

Now for the hands I would want for Ruby to keep the fingerless gloves she had previously on her volumes 7 - 9 outfit, but update it just enough where you’ll notice enough of a difference. See the image down below:

Here are my design choices for the gloves down below:

HANDS -

The gloves will be shortened down to have a more tactical feel, similar to Nora’s gloves on her Atlas outfit.

On the knuckles will be small, silver metal platings on each knuckle, to have a comparison to Penny’s gloves from her Atlas outfit, when she was still in a robot body.

Underneath the stitching of the palms will be an added layer of leather, to give Ruby a better grip while holding crescent rose, increasing her weapon handling.

The reason why I also added the metal platings to the knuckles is because I feel that after her experiences in the Ever-After, and her loss against Neo, Ruby will take hand to hand combat training more seriously from now on and begin throwing more punches and kicks into her combat style, along side her usual style of fighting with crescent rose.

And as shown above those are my choices for Ruby’s TORSO, ARMS and HANDS for her Vacuo Outfit.

HOOD and CLOAK:

Now for the most essential piece to any of Ruby’s outfits…..her Hood and Cloak. As I have described above I felt that in volume 10 Ruby would want move away from styling choices that imitated her mother’s clothing style and begin making new changes to her own style.

I think we can all agree that Ruby took a big inspiration from her mother, when deciding to wear a hood and cloak into her outfits the same as Summer’s. So initially when I began imagining Ruby’s Vacuo outfit I had wanted to discard the cloak from the clothing design, but keep the hood portion so as to keep up with her allusion as “Red Riding Hood.

But after much deliberation I am finding it difficult to want to discard the cloak from the outfit, because despite the glaring comparison to Summer’s hood and cloak, Ruby has made that clothing choice her own and it’s too incorporated into her identity in the series to ditch away now.

So I had been left with a conundrum…..how could I change Ruby’s hood and cloak, without sacrificing a piece of its identity as a hood and cloak?

Then it hit me…..there was a concept shown to us early on in the series that would be perfect to reintroduce back into the story and fit well into any new changes Ruby, and the team RWBY, when it involves their outfits….

DUST INFUSED CLOTHING!!!

So here are my design choices for the hood and cloak down below:

HOOD and CLOAK -

The design of the hood and cloak will reminiscent of her Beacon era cloak, but in non-combative situations the cloak will compact itself back into the base of the hood, where the shoulder blades are, and look similar to the image down below…

However when in combat mode Ruby will have the option to stretch the cloak back out to normal length when she is in jeopardy, and give her opposition a stunning surprise….

Inside the fabric of the cloak is woven “Hard-Light” dust, and when attacked Ruby will be able to grab onto the cloak and use it as a unique high-resistant shield that blocks most type of attacks, including elemental attacks such as Fire….

And as shown above those are my design choices for Ruby’s HOOD and CLOAK for her Vacuo outfit.

Now if you look back on each of my choices for the HOOD, CLOAK, TORSO, ARMS, HANDS, WAIST, LEGS, BOOTS, SHOES and combine them into one frame…..you will now have my complete design for Ruby’s Volume 10/Vacuo Outfit that I envisioned.

RUBY ROSE’S ASCENSION PART 1: “TOO MUCH ON THE FANTASY, NOT ENOUGH ON THE REALITY”

During the time that I processed and theorized of what would become of Ruby’s ascension I had a good feeling that she would choose to continue to be herself, but I also had an expectation that she would gain or change something from her choice. Whether it would be her outfit changing, getting an upgrade on Crescent Rose, or having her semblance evolve, I inevitably hyped myself in wanting to see something cool happen to her that she could take away from this.

So when the finale aired I really did like the entire scene of Ruby’s “ascension”, but at the same time I will also admit I was letdown that there wasn’t anything really noticeable that changed for Ruby, that she was still and felt the same. It wasn’t until much later that it was my fault and failure to not notice what CRWBY were trying to convey throughout that entire sequence.

After rummaging through Tumblr, twitter and YouTube for other people’s interpretation of Ruby’s ascension I think I can say that I understand and have a much better appreciation of CRWBY’s intentions for Ruby’s character progression. So much so that I now have a few interpretations for my own of how I perceive Ruby’s character arc leading up to ascension that I would like to share. From how it led to this moment of change for Ruby throughout the series, to where I believe it’ll be taking her character forward into the future of the series…

My first general thoughts of Ruby’s “Ascension” has to begin with what I perceive as Ruby’s belief and ideology of what a huntress is supposed to be and what she ultimately wanted herself to become. From the many fairy tales and stories she had heard, from both Yang and her father, she dreamed so much of wanting be a huntress that she decided at a young age of what she wanted to grow up as. And it was thanks to those stories from her family that she also had a perfect image of what kind of huntress she wanted to be, her “deceased” mother Summer Rose.

A huntress that was strong and courageous…

A huntress who was determined and was a leading example for others…

A huntress that would put the needs of others before her own…

A huntress that was a beacon light and hope to everyone she saved…

A huntress, whose kindness and truthfulness would light a spark into anyone she come into contact with and would never lie…

This romanticized and idolization of her mother eventually became the basis of how she wanted to grow up and would lead her down the path of what inevitably she became throughout the course of the series.

She trained and learned bit by bit to become that “ideal” version of a huntress and for a time it was a clear path that she wanted only for herself and felt that it was “right” just for her.

Unfortunately this ultimately led her to becoming a version of herself that would just be the same as as her mother, and not only that but a version of Summer Rose that existed in fantasy she had long built up within her mind. It eventually grew into so many expectations within her that she ended up putting metaphorical chains and shackles upon herself, that kept her from what she needed to be all along…….

A Ruby Rose that believed that ”Herself” was enough to become the kind of huntress she always wanted to be….

These heavy burdens and expectations, that was born from her idolization and perfectionism of her belief in her mother, restricted her so much that it slowly chipped away at her and made her never want to, at least, second guess on what other experiences and possibilities that she could do for herself on her path to becoming a huntress, because that’s how much she believed in it.

That was until the Tree from the Ever-After helped showed her the truth….that her belief and perfect image of her mother, her ultimate goal of what a huntress is supposed to be…..isn’t so perfect after all.

For the first time, since she was a small child, Ruby witnessed the truth and reality….that her mother…..lied. A single act she believed her mother would never do, because that was how deep her perfect image of Summer, that she constructed…was.

This would undoubtably shake Ruby down to her core because her whole belief system as huntress, which stemmed down from her dreams and fantasies of how she perceived her mother, relied on that perfect imagery for so long that one noticeable correction would break everything she ever believed in.

So now rewatching that scene of Ruby pushing down the glass case of “Sundered Rose” in anger, I feel like THAT was a much needed moment for Ruby for her to realize that it was finally time to let go of her fantasies of a “perfect huntress”……and instead try to build her own version of what Ruby Rose herself can be as a huntress, with all the experiences she had gained up till now and everything she would experience in the future moving forward.

Ruby no longer needs to hold her childhood dreams and fantasies for guidance and empowerment anymore, because what she has become from her experience between Volumes 1 - 9 is more then enough to give her the first steps to becoming who she wanted and needed to be all along……Ruby Rose…..The Huntress.

She no longer needs Summer to help her move forward anymore… what she currently has is enough…..

Ruby……Is…….Enough.

Wait a minute…….

……would it be too much of a reach to say that Lewis could be a younger version of…..

Pietro Polendina!?!?!? 🧐🧐🧐

I mean……

We don’t know much of Pietro’s life when he was a young boy….

Jaune stated that Lewis was the “kinder” and “smartest” of the siblings…

Pietro wouldn’t have recognized Jaune due to his hazy memory from old age, and with Jaune not looking like his older version of himself/rusted knight…

Pietro could have took inspiration for Penny’s design from his long lost sister Alyx….

After he published “The Girl Who Fell Through The World”, Lewis could have changed his name and identity so that people would not treat him “mad” or “crazy” for believing a world like the Ever-After existed…

I know some in the FNDM have HC’s for Lewis being an Oz-incarnation……but I think I want to lean into Pietro for bit 🤔……

What do y’all think???

RWBY Ruby Rose’s Age Timeline

I would like to start by stating that I have been following the series since very beginning (Red trailer) and this is my belief of what Ruby’s age is currently at. I do not rely on information given by the fandom and only rely by what the writers has officially given us within the past 10 years and within the show.

It is also my belief that Beacon Academy’s semesters are dictated in the following system:

- 4 year-long curriculum

- 2 semesters within each year

- 4 months with each semester

- 2 week break between each semester

- Remaining 4 months of the year (Winter season) returning home before next year begins.

- The Vytal festival is held at the end of that school’s year.

- Each academy operates their school years differently from one another, so don’t mistake semesters being the same as Beacon Academy.

(Extra Note: Ruby is 15 at the start of the series and her birthday is October 31)

Volume 1 beginning: Ruby’s arrival in Vale - Ozpin welcomes Ruby into Beacon as classes for that year begins. (March) (Ruby age 15)

Volume 1 end: Team RWBY + Sun and Penny vs Roman Torchwick and White Fang - After volume 1’s showcasing of Beacon Academy and it’s classes I would generously say 1 month passed. (April) (Ruby age 15)

Volume 2 beginning: Beacon academy food fight - Ruby’s quote at the cafeteria when referring using their last day before classes start to have the “BEST DAY EVER”…

“Look guy’s it’s been a good two weeks, and between more exchange students arriving and the tournament at the end of the year, our second semester is gonna be great, but… classes start back tomorrow.”

Going off of that I would say their first semester is complete and they just finished their 2 week vacation. (July) (Ruby age 15)

Volume 2 end: Small grim attack in Vale - After the food fight, the bridge fight, the dance party and the Grimm attack within volume 2 it would be fair to say a month passed. Team RWBY also mentions at the end that they could use what time they have left to prepare for the Vytal festival, but exaggerates they were already prepared and just wanted to rest. The scene is intended to be funny but I do think they prepared anyway. (August) (Ruby age 15)

Volume 3 beginning: Vytal festival tournament begins - Ruby’s monologue in front of her mother’s grave featured colored leaves, as to showcase the changing of the seasons. Penny’s teammate Ciel also states, when meeting Ruby for the first time, that Ruby is currently still 15. (October) (Ruby age 15)

Volume 3 end: Ruby leaves with team JN_R to go to Haven - Ruby’s final scenes showcases the background covered in snow, leaving to me to believe it is winter season and it’s their 4 month break before the new year begins. Also note that it must have taken time for Ruby to recuperate under her father’s watch and to also coordinate with team JN_R to plan their departure for Haven academy in secret since Beacon’ Fall, so it would be safe to say month since that time. (November) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 4 Beginning: Team RNJR hunting Grimm - Originally RWBY writers Miles and Kerry officially stated it had been 6 months since the “FALL OF BEACON” (October). During the years between volumes 4 - 9 the information of the 6 months has been exaggerated by mostly the FNDM community to be now 6 - 8 months. I will refer to what the writers originally stated and go with only 6 months since the “Fall of Beacon” (October) and not with team RNJR’s departure (November). (April) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 4 end: Team RNJR and Qrow arrive in Haven - It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact time with each characters stories happening in different time periods within the 6 months since Beacons fall, but following along with RNJR’s journey only, within the volume, I would say maybe a week. (April) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 5 beginning: Team RNJR and Qrow meet Oscar - Not much time has passed since volume 4 finale and for Qrow to recuperate from the poison. (April) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 5 end: Team RWBY and company successfully defends Haven academy and relic - Within Volume 5 Ozpin mentions training Team RNJR for 1 month in order to prepare for their retrieval mission, to capture the spring maiden, against Raven and the Branwen Tribe . Also note that Haven’s school year was about to begin after the attack on Haven, but there is no official statement as of yet if the academies all begin their school years the same way as Beacon’s. (May) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 6 beginning: Boarding the train to Argus - As stated by Qrow in episode 1, two weeks have passed since the attack on Haven in volume 5’s finale, so probably the the start of the new month. (June) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 6 end: Team RWBY and company arrive in Atlas - Ruby and company have only been on foot and in Argus for only a couple of days since the train crash. Also the snow areas within Volume 6 does not indicate a change in seasons, but a changing of locations since Argus has Snowy regions in its borders. (June) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 7 beginning: Arrival to Atlas - Volume 7 immediately starts off where volume 6 ended. (June) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 7 end: Salem’s arrival to Atlas - Due to episode 5’s montage I would like to believe it took them a month to get used to things in Atlas. Also extra reminder that since it also being the northern continent and it’s always snowing, it doesn’t automatically make it the Winter Season. (July) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 8 Beginning: Salem’s attack on Atlas - Only a few hours passed since Salem’s arrival and Ironwood issuing orders for team RWBY’s arrest. (July) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 8 End: Team RWBY’s Fall into the Ever After - Only 2 days time had passed since the beginning of Volume 8. (July) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 9 Beginning: Team RWBY arrives in the Ever After - The volume immediately starts where volume 8 ended so time passed for the characters physically. (July) (Ruby age 16)

Volume 9 End: Team RWBY and Jaune leave the Ever After and arrive in Vacuo: Time is different within each Acre of Ever After but I believe 1 or 2 days physically passed for team RWBY since their arrival. Also note we don’t know the approximate time that had passed in remnant when they returned from the Ever After. (???) (Ruby age 16)

I would also like to state that i believe not only team RWBY will be in Vacuo within Volume 10, but that they will also return to Vale and possibly Beacon academy as well…

Salem will no doubt launch an assault on Vacuo, but I believe she’ll also be a distraction for Cinder to go to Beacon and retrieve the relic of choice at the same time.

With it possibly being the fall season (assuming not much time has passed on remnant) it’s poetic and symbolic Cinder would try to get the relic of Choice during that time.

Ruby just learned more about Summer’s mission and Raven’s involvement, so she’ll likely want more answers.

Ruby returning to Vale and Beacon academy on the eve or day of her 17th birthday would be a really nice touch in-story, since you must be at the age of 17 to enter the academies and Ruby was admitted at the age 15.

I know a lot of people would not agree with this because they have been sitting on what Lindsay Jones said on RWBY REWIND a few years ago of Ruby being 17 and just rolled with it, but I have been trying my best since the very beginning of the series to keep up with what information the writers of RWBY has given us these past 10 years and this is what I believe it is.
