I posted these on my tiktok a while ago and forgot to post them here. Here's some lore development and character sheets for my Spider-Katara character. For the moment, her name is Ice Weaver, which I'm not really satisfied with and will change later, but for now it's a placeholder name.
I would also like to announce that I will be doing emergency commissions because my job has drastically reduced my hours and I really need some extra income. I also really want to get my commission work off the ground and would appreciate the support.
And here is a final cleanup on the storyboarded movement test on the Spider-Katara character. I might do another to further develop her fighting style since I feel like it doesn't stand out too much from other spider-man characters. And I also need to practice boarding quick movement and timing it, so I will be looking into making more soon.
Of course, the camera movement isn't perfect and I need to develop some more skills in utilizing it without it coming out too sharp, but I sorta like the almost handheld quality that it has right now.
Please leave any critique though, since I am still developing my skills! I would love some advice on how to improve.
Thank you everyone who's been following this character! I really appreciate the investment. I hope you all have a good day!
I expanded on the rough storyboard sequence from yesterday. I tried working on the timing and some more dynamic poses as well as a look at how her "webs" function.
It is entirely waterbending, with a spidey-twist as I tried to indicate. I'm not sure how well it reads and the whole sequence looks very janky still. I'll try to clean it up to make it clearer and smoother at some point, since I haven't been on top of keeping my storyboarding skills sharp.
I want to add more sequences like this just to get a better idea of how she functions and moves. Maybe some slice of life bits on how the powers affect her day to day life and for more lore maybe.
I dunno. I'm still just fucking around with the concept. There's no clear story or fic with this.
Just some rough movement tests for my Spider-Katara character. I'm trying to practice action sequences and movement, as well as my timing. I'm planning on extending and cleaning this up but what do you think so far?
Some WIP sketches for my Spider-man Katara AU. Still not much development to her story or character besides some ideas about a more unfortunate ending to the Crossroads of Destiny, if you know what I mean (RIP Aang, you were the realest). I could elaborate on that later if any of you are interested in knowing.
But for now I just want to develop a feel for her in the suit and what she would look like maskless. The mask itself is probably ivory or something close to it. And it definitely has spiritual energy in it, though I'm not sure how far I want to take it. I want the shifting expression of the eyes to be a side-effect of the spiritual energy she was gifted with to get her wall-climbing and super-strength powers. But she otherwise looks normal with no mutations in sight.
Also, as a sidenote, I am in love with the idea that ATLA is still a pretty big childhood show in a lot of realities, so whenever Katara is in the lobby and she takes off her mask, she gets at least one "Holy shit, is that Katara?!" from some random spider-person and at some point, she will be over it.
So here's a closer look to Miles' first time seeing her:
Finished poses from that sketch I posted earlier last week. I tried adding line to the sketches but they looked weird with them, so I'll leave them as is. And because no one can stop me, I edited Spider-Katara into some screencaps of Across the Spiderverse.
This was fun. I'm not used to editing characters into scenes or screenshots, so please feels free to give me any advice you can! Hopefully, I could get to the point where it's sorta a Where's Waldo? level cause I wanna do the scenes where the Spider-people chase Miles next and it would be fun if I could make it at least a LITTLE bit difficult to see the character edited in.
Well, that's that. I made this at 3 in the morning while putting off my laundry, so enjoy!
This season brought me to many unexpected emotions and I just loved it. It really was a pleasure to experience, thank you Mr. Gaiman and Good Omens Cast and Crew.
Good luck on the strike and negotiations and keep going strong!! I don't care how long we have to wait for a season 3, if there ever is one.
So this was the unanswered messages in my ask box a couple of days ago:
and this is the unanswered messages in my ask box today,
and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has said such nice things about the season, and I'm sorry to everyone who had emotions they weren't expecting, and I'm impressed that so many of you have theories and don't plan to answer, validate or really even comment on any of them, but mostly I'm just sorry because I probably won't read whatever you've sent, not because I don't want to but because if I was doing nothing but reading Tumblr asks as a full time job I still wouldn't catch up with the thousands of asks coming in.
some more sketches cause the design really inspires me, i guess
I'm actually having a lot of fun with these designs and I'm so glad they motivate me to draw more. These are very sketchy wips, but they don't need to be too clean right now, so hope you don't mind
What would you think if an evilized villain (maybe a wishmaker-like villain or maybe even a villain that's unrelated to the butterfly miraculous) caused Chloe and Zoe to switch bodies somehow, and nobody fully understands what's going on, so Zoe (in Chloe's body) is taken by Audrey back to New York, despite Zoe desperately trying to explain things. But Chloe enters a fugue state (heavily due to trauma caused by the neglect of her parents) and genuinely thinks she's Zoe, and is even able to recall many of the things Zoe did due to being in Zoe's body. The class thinks “Zoe's” change in behavior is due to the psychological effects of method acting, since “Zoe” is playing Chloe in Astruc's new movie, but they gradually convince “Zoe” to let them help her relearn how to be “herself” again. Meanwhile, in New York, Zoe is trying to get back to Paris, but when she gets there, “Zoe” thinks she’s there to try to hurt Marinette.
Eventually, after listening to “Chloe”, Marinette starts to suspect that “Chloe” might be telling the truth, so she decides that she must test “Chloe” and “Zoe”. She fakes being in danger to see how they react. “Zoe” reacts slightly faster than “Chloe”, so Marinette comes to the conclusion that “Chloe” is lying and that “Chloe” has an evil and manipulative plan. Marinette thinks that “Chloe” must have picked up a few tricks from Lila, because she thinks no version of Chloe could possibly react faster than Zoe when it comes to protecting her. So Audrey takes “Zoe” back to New York again to “correct” her after “Zoe” fails to convince anyone of the truth.
10 years later, “Zoe” gets seriously injured after fighting a villain when Ladybug isn’t around, which causes “Zoe” to not have long to live. Then Ladybug accidentally stumbles upon the truth about “Zoe” while trying to help “Zoe” using magical powers. Ladybug decides that the moral thing to do is to switch Chloe and Zoe back to their original bodies. Once Zoe gets her body back, she blames Chloe for her impending death and for leaving her with 10 years of torment, while Chloe got off scot-free. When Lila gets defeated, Zoe steals the Butterfly Miraculous to get her hands on Ladybug and Catnoir’s miraculouses, hoping to “make things right”. Zoe gets defeated by the heroes (including Chloe) and Ladybug manages to cure Zoe’s injuries.
It really is an interesting idea.
I'm a sucker for identity-switching and shenanigans. It's a bit complicated, what you're describing and this whole story will be full of unreliable narrators if it's through Chloe's pov and others, which is always an opportunity for fun teists and turns. There would also have to be a lot of conflict and introspection for "Zoe" because even when she was Chloe, in her time away from her mom in Paris, had influences affecting her everyday behavior to act the way she did. And it would be a shame to miss everything that Zoe as "Chloe" is missing out on to see the bitterness and resentment build up.
I'm not the biggest fan of a time skip as big as ten years, as it kinda waters down the intensity of emotion people would feel when the final reveal takes place. But if you could make it work and it pleases you, you should. These are my opinions after all and I have preferences as anyone else does.
A small snippet of what I imagine happened for Katara's bite. The spider is something like a Spirit Spider created to bestow supernatural gifts to people. Which Spirit sent it? As of now, probably either one of Tui and La. Why Spider powers? Who knows. Why do it in the first place? I'll work it out eventually, or not. This is kind just self-indulgence for me anyway, so I won't stress too much about it.
