while I wasn’t able to be in the path of totality, I was able to see a good amount of the eclipse! it should’ve been 93% where I’m at, but it got cloudy at maximum eclipse 😭

still happy to have seen even some of it though! ☀️

my favorite subjects to photograph are:

Nature, all kinds, but mainly flowers and colorful sunrises/sunsets

Pets! I love pet portraiture.

Documentary/photojournalistic style portraiture. Photographing people in their element or showing their true colors and emotions in the moment is rewarding as hell to me.

Conceptual/surrealism photography, though I don’t do much of lately, it’s still something I enjoy working on time to time!

Portraiture, though I don’t shoot those so much anymore, I still love making someone feel their best through the lens.

my favorite types of art (outside of photography) to do/create are:

Collages, mainly digital for accessibility reasons

Digital art, I’m slowly getting back into drawing, hoping to post more illustrations and designs here in the future.

Fiber arts: specifically crocheting and sewing. Currently love making blankets and quilts, as well as upcycling and refashioning clothing!

Metalsmithing: it’s mainly the basics, mostly for jewelry making, but I’d love to get back to soldering someday! I love upcycling old metal, too.

last night’s worm moon was also a penumbral lunar eclipse! a penumbral eclipse only shows a dimmer shadow, rather than a stark difference with a total lunar eclipse.

it was hard to see with how bright the moon was, but it was still a beautiful sight regardless! 🌕✨

shared this for invisible disabilities week back in october, but I wanted to finally share these here too.

“fibromyalgia? what’s that? what does it feel like?”

I wish I had a dollar every time I’ve been asked this, I’d have enough for some high quality treatment. even the best treatments can’t cure fibro, though.

there’s still so much speculation and loose ends from ongoing studies that try pinpointing where fibro stems from. trauma is believed to be a big one, both emotional and physical, accidents, abuse, anything that leaves a mark on you for a lifetime? yeah, that manifests into physical pain. your body is constantly in fight or flight mode. I believe this is where mine mostly stems from.

then there’s other studies about it being tied to genetics, or maybe it’s autoimmune. those don’t seem to hold up as well as the trauma theory.

regardless of where it comes from, fibromyalgia is real. it varies person to person, but you know how your entire body aches when you have the flu? that’s how my body feels 24/7. I’m constantly nauseous, dizzy, losing my balance often. my joints are angry, always. I get shooting pain down my limbs, numbness, and pins and needles that won’t go away with a quick shake. skin tears often and easily, inflammation, the intolerance to extreme temperatures both hot and cold. I’ve had more fainting spells than the average person— though I’m getting better at sensing it and sitting the fuck down in time lmao. I have tremors that get in the way of daily existence. hell, all of this gets in the way of daily existence.

there’s so much beyond this, and a lot of these symptoms and more are just comorbidities. dysautonomia, arthritis, the list goes on and on, and each list for each person with fibro is unique to their own struggles and body chemistry, but I’ll end here.

so …. what does fibro feel like? feels like my own personal hell. invisible disabilities are just as valid as visible ones.

new year, new tears :,)

while hoping to use this blog more this year, i wanted to say— i’m sincerely grateful for all of the support on the fibro post. but it also hurts seeing so many people relating, because i wouldn’t wish this on anyone. however, this has been comforting to see, too; none of us are in this alone, especially with the internet to connect with our unique communities and feel seen and heard.

my heart aches every time i read tags from other chronically ill/disabled folks saying they feel invalidated in their pain, or afraid to use mobility aids, etc. i’m forever sending love and strength and empathy in solidarity with y’all. we all deserve to be believed, and to be able to use aids and tools to live our lives like anyone else. we deserve comfort like anyone else where possible too.

wishing all y’all in the disability community a safe and happy new year. take care loves, and thank you again 🫶🏻
