Haikei Mishiranu Danna-sama, Rikon shite Itadakimasu - By Kori hisakawa (7/10)
War. Swords. Toxic wagers and toxic fathers. I really do like the setting for this one. The main character is a woman who wants to remain single, for very good reasons. She's not jaded about love or anything. She just doesn't want to be tied down by a man. Unluckily for her a high ranking member of the military is a huge fan of hers...
Byletta wants to live as a ruthless yet practical businesswoman.
Her father wants her to get married, and it seems like they have a wonderful relationship.
Her father is a really funny wild card....and so is his beautiful daughter. He accidentally raised a highly independent spirit. Byletta is highly educated and her capable father spars with her daily. Of course Byletta doesn't feel like she needs a man.
Her family solves arguments by the blade. They show love through cat fights. It's very adorable and its also nice to see an independent woman that isn't miserable.
By the way her father wants her to get married because a high ranking military man wants her, and their family has been producing sword fighters for ages. Her father thinks she will be happy raising and training a child as well, because they have so many good sparring memories together.
Byletta refuses to even look at her finances portrait.
She gets married....while her husband is on the battlefield. They never meet. Byletta isn't an annoying little brat. You immediately see why she doesn't want to marry. Arnald, her fiance, doesn't have a happy family. His father remarried, and he abuses his new wife.
Also.
It's painful, but realistic. Byletta beats her father in law with her sword, but he doesn't get kicked out or anything. He even develops a friendship with Byletta.....even though he hates his own wife and child. It's complicated. Byletta is comfortable in her husband’s home alone, so she must get along with her bratty father in law.
Rumors spread during the war about Arnald's sensual and firey new wife. Byletta has to deal with a lot of humiliation for being female. She develops a business relationship with her father in law and yeaaaahhhhh everybody calls her a whore, even though she's a perfectly capable fighter and businesswoman.
....just because she's pretty.
...I'd swear off men too what the heck???
Arnald appears after Byletta asks for a divorce by letter.
Why did he want her in the first place?
Why did he marry her on paper when he knew he would be at war for years?
Why is he so against getting divorced?
Ew.
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.
They make a disgusting pregnancy wager, because Arnald refuses to divorce her without testing her first.
Hi, I'm in love with your hcs about Kid Pirates (both au and not)! I wanted to ask you if you think that they would also f*ck or have romantic intercourse with each other. And if someone of them got into a serious relationship with someone outside of the crew (or gang for the au) how the other members would act around them? They will accept them immediately?
thank you so much for the praise anon <3
i think the Kid Pirates 100% sleep with each other. it obviously depends on each members' individual sexual preferences and who they're attracted to, but most of them have slept with each other at least once.
everyone is romantically involved with each other in some way and some of them are probably in polyamorous relationships with each other. Heat for example has something going on with Wire, Haikei and Emma. then Emma has something going on with Quincy and Gig. even the members who are in relationships with each other can sometimes be seen flirting or making out with other members (consensually of course, cheaters are not welcome). Killer is involved in a pretty serious relationship with Kid but is often spotted flirting with Hip and Bubblegum.
however, if a crew member is in a relationship and they decide with their partner they want to be purely monogamous then the entire crew respects that opinion and does not overstep the boundary. the Kid Pirates are a crew who love each other in so many different ways, that goes beyond just being coworkers. they love, trust and respect each other.
now if a crew member got into a serious relationship with someone outside of their little family (both gang au or not), i can see that person getting very mixed reactions. the Kid Pirates are a big family who are united through shared traumas of being seen as different and outcasts so it takes most of them a while to adjust to suddenly having someone new hanging out with them. some of them warm up to strangers fast (Dive, Moai, House.) and others can take ages to accept a stranger (Disc J, Mosh, Jaguar) or wait until they've felt the stranger has proven themselves (Killer, Pomp). but since they're a family, they will always prioritise trying to accept this new stranger in a fairly respective and civil way for the benefit of their fellow member. the last thing they want is to accidentally scare off someone's partner when there's no need for it.
Made an SI for my fave boys - nice to finally have a character associated with this name for the first time in like 15 years
Name: Thamaris (goes by Tham)
Age: Mid 20's
Height: 5'0
Pronouns: They/Them - Will answer to anything tho.
Species: Human
Devil Fruit: None
General Story: Spent most of their life learning to shoot from very long range to support their gang (led by Heat) without their weak ass getting obliterated. When Kid unified the four town gangs they were a part of that. Joined the Kid Pirates when they formed.
Tham's rifle is named Harp after a song by Stiff Little Fingers (vid at the bottom)
thinking about tham and heat, since they were in his gang, and it makes sense that they're a thing to me?
like they are ride or die forever, they're each others safe haven, and were their first everything
and its just turned the v. punk into this big pile of polyamory (and i love that for them)
heat and tham never defined what they were because there was no need to, but once the crew was formed and heat really got to know wire, he was like 'shit' but they talked it out and they decided since they're pirates who can take what they want; if heat wants to be with wire as well he should be! tham and wire aren't into each other that way, and its chill.
then at some point tham kid and killer form their polycule too (with kid and killer already in a well established relationship)
idk i guess if any crew was gonna be a big open queer poly ship it'd be theirs (bc its punk as fuck to go against gender/relationship norms)
i just dont see them giving a shit about who or what they are - they got way more important things to do
also i love the juxtaposition of this ruthless murder crew being so full of love
