Body modifications for Kid Pirates and fanon characters! Who's got them, who's giving them, and how was the experience? I imagine their are a couple of tattoo artists and piercers on the Victoria but who has the most interesting story either giving or receiving 🤣

these are very very good questions that you're asking, and i have so many headcanons about this

Kid Pirates who has body modifications/piercings/tattoos:

Kid - helix, industrial, orbital and lobe piercings in his ears, really wants a dick piercing

Heat - all of his stitches on his body are tattoos and has industrial and helix piercings in both ears

Emma - had a body modification done so she can have elf ears and 6 piercings in each ear, also the Kid Pirates jolly roger on her left hip

Hop - nipple and ear piercings, also a book quote tattoo above her chest

Quincy - is a trained piercer and has lip, eyebrow, bellybutton and nose piercings

UK - nose piercings and stretched earlobes from plugs which he forgets to put in

Noe - dick, tongue and ear piercings, also has a tramp-stamp tattoo of his name (he doesn't know why, he was drunk)

Gig - body modification in the form of an eye tattoo in his left eye so its a different colour (red) and tattoos of different guitars on each knuckle

Bubblegum - ear and collar bone piercings, knuckle tattoos spelling his name and a bubblegum packet

Wire - dick and tongue piercings (Wire, Haikei and Noe all got tongue piercings together) and his brothers' names tattooed on his right arm

Compo - has 1.5cm plugs in both his ears and various tattoos on both arms (including a drawing Dive made of him)

Oscar - eye tattoos on both eyes to make his pupils white

Papas - has 2cm plugs and a tattoo of a tortoise on his back

Haikei - lip and tongue piercings, is a trained tattoo artist with multiple tattoos which he designed (including a bad drawing of a dick on his actual dick) and lets Dive design him new tattoos

Moai - simple ear piercings

Reck - has the name of his old band tattooed on his upper back

Boogie - ear and collarbone piercings and a small tattoo of the Kid Pirates' jolly roger on his right shoulder

Jaguar - has a large tattoo of a panda playing the guitar on his left thigh and his old boxing name tattooed across his collarbone

Kid Pirates who don't have any of the above:

Dive - hasn't expressed an interest in piercings yet, is also forbidden from getting tattoos or changing her body until she's at least 16

Hip - afraid of needles but wants ear piercings or a small tattoo of a dragonfly soon

House - as the crew's doctor, she has dealt with too many horror stories to want anything done beyond ear piercings

Killer - just isn't interested, but came to this decision by also witnessing most of these horror stories

Mosh - hasn't gotten around to getting anything done yet

Pomp - thinks he already looks cool enough and that he's too old to do modify his body with anything

who has the most interesting stories:

Haikei - he woke up one day hung over and panicked over why his dick hurt so bad. he sprinted to find House, demanding she take a look at it to find out why it hurt so bad. Haikei was convinced it was a STD and poor House had to inspect Haikei's penis until she spotted the awful drawing of a dick. to this day he has no explanation as to why he did that to himself when he had barely drunk anything compared to normal (it was a whole vodka bottle).

Quincy - who got punched in the face when piercing Bubblegum's collarbones because they weren't expecting the pain to be so bad, despite Quincy reminding Bubblegum how low their pain tolerance is.

UK - sneezed when he got his nose piercings and got snot on the person he paid to pierce him. the sneeze also meant he didn't get one of his piercings in the place he wanted it.

People? In MY computer?? It's more likely than you think!

The following is a fanvertisment and is not connected to the show. ****Yet.*** *Also yes, this is the fourth time I'm posting this because TUMBLR WONT LET ME EDIT SPELLING MISTAKES!

ANYWAY,

Once upon a time, back in 1987, Dire Straits put out this music video for “Money for Nothing”, which, as you know, was a song about wanting my MTV. 

The video was made by two guys (Gavin Blair and Ian Pearson) on a very moody computer. After the video went out, these two guys went to a pub:

Ian: “Hey, we should make a whole show like this!”

Gavin: “Dude, making three minutes almost killed us.”

And so it was decided!🎉

The two guys were joined by two other guys (Phil Mitchell and John Grace) and created the Hub, which then became Mainframe Entertainment. They got even more people, and then they all holed up in this hotel.

They were mad lads with a dream: a whole cgi animated show, and they made it happen a whole year before Toy Story!

Behold! ReBoot!

(Yes that fever dream was real)

Now before I get any of this:

Let me lay this down. If you can’t with the animation of the first season because it was CUTTING EDGE IN 1994, you can close your eyes and listen to it. ReBoot wasn’t just a CGI gimmick. The characters are fully developed, the voice actors are peerless, the plot is sharp, and there’s so many easter eggs that you’ll never find them all.

(And yes the episode "Bad Bob" was the actual catalyst for Fury Road. Look it up)

ReBoot is about what life is like in a computer (in the 90s, because it was the 90s) called Mainframe (because of course it is). People are sprites, the guys that look like 1s and 0s are binomes (which represent 1s and 0s). Bad guys are viruses, and the good guy is a Guardian named Bob, who is a certified cinnamon roll.

In the first season the eps are light and self-contained, mainly because there was constant friction between the Mainframe studios and the Board of Standards and Practices.

They still got away with some pretty dark stuff, like Megabyte (virus) making Enzo (the kid) watch his dog get sliced open (dog got away, obviously) , Dot (sprite) have a hallucinatory breakdown, and the fridge horror of realizing the thousands of worm things (nulls) that plunged off a bridge to their death were actually people.

And Hex's (virus

best girl) scary face single-handedly traumatized an entire generation. 🙂

But busting through a window was a no go, because WhAt If tHe cHiLdReN dID iT tOo?

Anyway, halfway through the second season, ABC cut them loose, so they were like, fuck it, we’re going to start going hard. The story shifted from episodic to arcs and things start to get serious.

Third season the show moved to YTV in Canada, which gave no fucks about shielding the innocent children.

So it got DARK

How dark?

The UK refused to show the entire season, so the audience there had to wait until pirated copies made it across the pond to see how it ended.

Also by 1997, the animation was gorgeous. (Best example of third season animation I could think of that didn't have spoilers)

The show was green-lit for a fourth season on Cartoon Network, but halfway through production Warner Bros took over and the same fucking thing happened.

Because Mainframe was halfway done, they decided not to scrap all of it, but knowing they wouldn't be able to finish it correctly, Mainframe stripped anything that would hint at Season Four's true ending, then left what remained on a cliff-hanger of angst.

FOR 22 YEARS

(It's also why the last four eps of season four seem to make no sense)

And so it was.

Other crap happened, the soul left Mainframe, and its animated corpse spat out “The Guardian Code” in 2018. 

But never say die! The year is (almost) 2024, 30 years later. ReBoot shall rise from the dead, because here come the documentary!!

- Rex Is Not Your Lawyer (REX ALEXANDER)

Unaired pilot. Only 40 minutes. Show wasn't picked up, but it is very good. Rex is a successful and skilled lawyer who is forced to stop practising when he starts having panic attacks every time he speaks in court. He decides instead to coach people who want to represent themselves. Lots of DT in very tight suits. American accent. Not MAJOR angst but he does has daddy issues and a panic disorder, so.

A kid discovers that his neighbour is a vampire, and he seeks out a famous vampire slayer to help him. Peter Vincent (DT) does not live up to his name, and turns out to actually be sort of pathetic. No major angst, not a lot of clothes, no romance, but lots of eyeliner. He's very bisexual. Violence, vampire horror, creepy neighbour.

- The Decoy Bride (JAMES ARBER)

Celebrity Lara Tyler tries to get married to her author fiancé James Arber, but the paparazzi interrupts the wedding. Desperate to keep it private, she takes James to the island that he based his book on. Somehow, the paparazzi still find them, and they hire a decoy bride to pretend to be Lara. Romance, kissing, light hearted, minimal angst. David in a funny outfit. Fake dating trope?

- Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger (Donald and Roderick Peterson)

Sequel to Nativity, but you don't need to watch the first one. Primary school teacher Donald Peterson (DT) is forced to take his class to Wales to participate in A Song For Christmas, a festive singing competition. Here he is put against his twin brother, who is a successful composer and with whom he has a strained relationship. Light angst - lots of daddy issues, but generally sweet.

A defence lawyer, Will Burton, gets a murderer off free, and very quickly grows to regret it, when his client comes after his family next. Lots of murder. Like three murders I think. Hot lawyer DT.

- What We Did On Our Holiday (DOUG MCLEOD)

A family go to Scotland for their grandfather's 70th birthday. Doug (DT) and his wife (Rosamund Pike) are getting a divorce, but are hiding it from the rest of the family. Movie is mostly focused on the kids and their grandad, but David has a few moments, and he's generally present throughout. Funny, slightly shocking at times, family film. No major angst. Character death.

- Richard II (RICHARD II)

Shakespeare's Richard II. David plays the titular character, the extravagant, heartless and cold King of England, Richard II. We see his fall from grace as he is stripped of everything he owns and knows. Quite angsty. Long hair, androgynous David. Queer kiss scene (although they are cousins, soo...)

- Broadchurch (ALEC HARDY)

An eleven-year-old boy is murdered in a small town, sending shock-waves through the community. Story follows both the family and communities response to the crime, as well as the investigation done by DI Alec Hardy (DT) and DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Coleman). Lots of angst from Alec. He is sick and hiding it. Injury, dizziness, panic attacks, that sort of thing - as well as a heart attack. He has a lot of trauma and daddy issues. Season three touches on topics of rape (warning).

- Mad To Be Normal (RD LIANG)

Biopic about RD Liang, a Scottish psychiatrist. Sex, misogyny, mental health topics, some self-harm (done by another character)

- Good Omens (CROWLEY)

An angel (Michael Sheen) and a demon work together to stop the end of the world. Queer romance (canon), some angst. Drama, comedy, LGBTQ+. David plays Crowley, the demon (who "sauntered vaguely downwards" rather than fell from heaven)

A COVID lockdown comedy about David Tennant and Michael Sheen talking via Zoom during the lockdown. Actually quite sad at times? Mostly silly, though. Features Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg.

- Around The World in 80 Days (PHILEAS FOGG)

Phileas Fogg, a quiet and reserved man, decides to travel around the world in 80 days, after he receives an anonymous postcard calling him a coward. Cute found family, drama, angst (ex-lover stuff, internalised cowardice, illness, near death experience), some violence. There's a scene where Phileas gets flogged (whipped, essentially) quite violently, and it's somewhat graphic. Touches on themes of racism. Phileas is 100% neurodivergent.

- Inside Man (HARRY WATLING)

DT plays a vicar, Harry, who is involved in a murder after trying to protect his son - who was accused of having CP. Suicide themes, murder, self-harm - explores the idea that any person can murder, if they're pushed the right way. Includes topics to do with CP and pedophilia.

Biopic about Alexander Litvinenko. A group of detectives investigate the poisoning of Litvinenko. David is bald in this show. (Scary)

AHOY MATEYS!!!

As I am sure y’all have heard by now, Octonauts is being taken off of Netflix in most (if not all) territories. DO NOT FEAR THOUGH, as there are plenty of other ways to watch it!!! (THIS LIST WILL *NOT* CONTAIN PIRATING WEBSITES CONSIDERING THAT IS WHAT GOT LAD MURDERED BY THE GOVERNMENT.)

First, there is the good old official octonauts YouTube channels. These have compilations, which often include full episodes. It’s not good if you’re looking for any specific episode, but it’s certainly a thing.

There’s also this one! It’s kinda giving MTP vibes, umm but it has a lot of the same style content as the official octonauts channel. It also has other shows like Peter Rabbit.

Just because it’s leaving Netflix doesn’t mean it’s leaving the Netflix YouTube channel! It’s not good tho. They have two full episodes and that’s it. Only useful if you’re looking for ghost forest or skeleton coast. They’re in this playlist with a bunch of clips and like… other content?

AND NOW DRUMROLL PLEASE *BADADADADDADADAADA* SOME FUCKING ANGEL MADE A PLAYLIST OF FULL EPISODES!!! It contain several videos from our fallen comrade MTP, but it collects videos from a lot of other channels. It’s by far the most likely place for you to find a specific episode if you’re looking for one.

There’s also the big Octonauts channel! (I think it’s just octoworld? They got copyright struck) They have three episodes up. I screen recorded them all in case they get lazered.

So something I realized both from writing and reading fanfic about the Kid Pirates, we don’t really know anyone’s jobs. Like yeah we know Kid is the captain and Killer is first mate/mom friend but beyond that we don’t know anyone else’s roles. So I decided to make a brief collection of headcannons going over what roles everyone has on the crew. Obv there’s cross overs and a lot of people will do ‘a lil bit of everything’ but just to get a feel for how I picture everyone.

Kid: so he’s the captain but in the way he leads in battle, decides the course of action, and has final say on things. But on a day to day basis, delegations are handled by Killer and he spends most of his days in his workshop inventing or training. Sometimes he’ll take breaks to briefly oversee everyone else’s projects and tasks.

Killer: he’s the backbone of this crew. He delegates chores (cleaning), tasks (repairs), and projects (individualized based on that person’s skills and interest) daily every morning. He handles most of the cooking with a few crew helping prep and clean. He is the go to person for small to medium sized issues. Torn sail? He’ll handle it. Broken dishes that need replacing? He’s adding it to the list for the next supply stop. Out of seasoning for the food? He’s got a secret stash. Anything larger than that such as major ship damage or stolen goods he sends over to Kid.

Wire: despite being the biggest he’s probably the calmest, most understanding crew member. He handles all interpersonal issues, he’s a great mediator and also is a sort of therapist at times. If someone needs to work through mental issues, within his capabilities of course, Killer send them his way. Since the majority of his day isn’t filled by this, he has time for his real passion. Navigation! He assists Kid the most with charting and planning, he enjoys it immensely. If he isn’t needed for either of those then he’s usually doing routine cleaning and maintenance with everyone else. He’s a bit spoiled though and Killer will let him skip a few tasks to work on his maps.

Heat: while it’s not something he enjoys there’s no he has a skill for medical care. Far from being a doctor, Heat is more of a field medic, treating injuries in the midst of battle while still fighting off enemies. His eyes are sharp and his fingers are fast at stitching, which is his true hobby. He enjoys sewing, Wire will sketch up crazy outfit designs and Heat will spend a lazy afternoon stitching the fabric. Majority of his day is spent patching up clothes, bedding, and sails, giving a second life to would be discarded fabrics. Occasionally he will patch up injuries on board that happen, but he’d honestly rather be sewing or doing normal chores. He does injury care only, don’t you come to him with a fever, he’s out of his depth.

Hip and Hop: These two are sisters specifically recruited by Heat so they could take out as the crew medics, so while he’s still the go to field medic and the fastest sticher on board, these two fill in the gaps. Hop enjoys botany and making medications, while Hip is very good at diagnosis and treatment. If you’re bleeding go to Heat, anything else find one of the sisters. Most of their day is spent making salves and refilling medicines (this crew is a disaster of injuries and illness), they maintain the cleaning of the medic bay (it’s really just a small room) and the surgery suite (the closet attached to the small room).

UK, Papas, and Bubblegum: these three are in charge of weapons repair and maintenance. There’s no real system of who works on what, but Papas tend to gravitate more towards guns and projectiles while UK and Bubblegum prefer blades. Work load is usually higher after some sort of conflict, but at least once a day each of them will be checking the weapons for defects or wear just to be safe. Otherwise they participate in regular chores as needed.

House, Pomp, Quincy, and Moai: these four are the plumbing and electrical team. House and Moai have daily tasks to check the wiring and panels. While Quincy and Pomp are in charge of weekly pipe checks. This group is the most likely to have no active project going on and usually have the most chores.

Boogie and Mosh: these two work in the galley with Killer. They do most of the prep and cleaning. They don’t really have much time to do any other type of chores. They’re hobbies are all food related, Boogie likes baking sweets and Mosh likes making pastas and bread.

Dive, Jaguar, and Gig: these three are the shipwrights. Well Dive is the only one actually trained for it, but Jaguar and Gig have a passion for building and learning. It’s very funny watching the smallest member of the crew boss around possibly the two biggest. Projects for them are up and down depending on recent battles or weather, so some weeks they are too busy with repairs to help with regular chores and some weeks they have nothing to do besides clean.

Emma, Disc J, and Compo: this group is in charge of refuse and waste. They gather up all trash on the ship and either compost it to a nice fertilizer and be sold at a port for a little extra drinking money. Or they incinerate it in the shops furnace for extra fuel and heat. Some trash can’t be used for fuel or compost so it’s crushed down to a small size and disposed of at the next stop. This is a very time consuming job so they, like the kitchen crew, don’t have a lot of extra chores.

Think very communal work; if someone from the waste department wanted or needed to help out in the kitchen it wouldn’t be a big deal. Killer is good about knowing who’d make a good fit in different roles and typically only moves people who actually want to try something. So while Dive would be fine subbing in with the weapons group, Killer knows that she’d rather sub in at the plumbing area, but Emma would be more than happy to help weapons so that’s why he’d pick Emma.

Also when I say ‘most of their day is spent doing x’ I mean that VERY lightly. The group has plenty of leisure time, all the cleaning is divided up by 20 people and group projects are shared usually by 3-4 people. So whenever the boring work is done, the rest of the day can be spent working on projects (in a timely way), relaxing, sleeping, crafting, or sparring.

Let’s be real the Kid Pirates are kinda the communists of the sea, they’re not slaving away all day. What do you think think this is? Capitalism?
