So my people, you loved my Jake one shot back in February, so hopefully you all will love this multi part just as much! Welcome to A Gun Amongst Daggers, my newest piece that is also Hangman X Fem!Reader. Meet Hangman and Bear, my latest in a long line of Top Gun Maverick OCs but she is just a placeholder for the reader!

So this will get spicy towards the end because I’m a sucker for slow burn (and I am apologizing in advance, I am taking it to the extreme). That being said: ALL BLANK BLOGS OR ONES WITHOUT AN AGE WILL BE BLOCKED. I AM NOT LOOKING TO GET REPORTED BECAUSE YOU READ SOMETHING YOU DIDN’T EXPECT OR SOMETHING THAT MADE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE. SO 18+ ONLY. THIS STORY ALSO DEALS WITH SOME SERIOUS SHIT, SO THIS IS YOUR WARNING.

Summary: When Jake meets a woman at the Hard Deck, the last thing he expects is for her to be a Navy Seal. And not just any Seal, the Commander of Seal Team 3. She’s beautiful, smart, dangerous, and everything about her just makes him want to get close. Her name? Bear. When the Seals need backup, Cyclone puts the Daggers on their radar and now, Jake has to work with Bear and her team, all the while trying to stay professional. Can he do it? Or will he end up falling for the Navy sniper and mission Commander?

And because I’m nice, here’s a bit of part one below the cut:

It was a miserable day when Jake walked into the Hard Deck. Training had been cancelled due to shit weather and no matter how much of a workout he had had earlier, he was still as twitchy as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. The weather wasn’t helping either. It had been raining nearly all day, letting up for maybe 20 minutes at a time before it came pouring down again. Climate change was a serious concept, but right now it was fucking with his plans and his job and Jake very much wanted it to stop. Taking a quick glance around, he saw that there were a few patrons in the bar, mostly older men just sitting and drinking in near silence, the jukebox playing some classic rock song just loud enough to be heard. He had promised to meet Coyote here around 5 and seeing as he was early, Jake went ahead to order a drink. “Hey Penny.”

“Hangman,” Penny replied with a smile. “Your usual?”

“Nah, not drinking tonight. Too antsy. Just a water and Javy’s usual, thanks.” The blond glanced around the room as Penny went to grab his drinks and his eyes fell on a woman sitting quietly in the corner of the room, silently watching each and every one in the bar with a clinical gaze. His curiosity got the better of him and Jake grabbed his order before making his way over to the corner table. “That seat taken?” He asked with his usual sly grin on his face.

The woman glanced up at him, eyes flicking over him quickly before quirking a brow. “And what if it was?” she replied coolly, a narrow gaze pinning him to the spot. She took a sip of the drink in front of her, eyes never leaving his face.

“Well I’d like to think that I’d be better company than your imaginary friend here,” Jake said, trying to regain his footing. The woman was intimidating; sharp eyes that seemed to never miss a thing and a face that he recognized as one he made when the weariness hit on occasion.

“Is that painful for you, Flyboy? The thinking?”

Jake was taken aback by her snark. Normally he’d respond, fire an insult of two back, but he kept his mouth shut for once, watching for even just a flicker of emotion on the woman’s face. But there wasn’t any. She just looked bored. So Jake did something that he would almost never do, he walked away, set his drinks down on a table near the door and waved Javy down when his friend walked in.

NEED OF SHELTER WITH HOMELESS (GOFUNDME AND ADDITIONAL INFO BELLOW)

As you can tell, I'm currently homeless and cannot access resources for shelter, as the homeless epidemic has caused it to get much harder to find shelter and transitional housing. I'm also someone who needs special accommodations as a disabled person, such as my medication and my cat being an emotional support animal, so that alone will make me less likely to be accepted.

I've been seeking a way to get housing way before I became homeless, as I knew the lease wasn't going to be renewed, but I couldn't do it on time. Currently I paid for my 1st and 2nd stay at the hotel I'm currently at. That's been 10 days, and currently I need to renew again by the 13th of February. This is the information for my first booking, which was cheaper than the second check in. 403 was the total including tax, but the second check in is 403 WITHOUT the tax.

Here's the proof of the second stay in for 5 days being higher than the last.

This hotel is literally the cheapest I could find with basic accomidations such as having a microwave and being able to refrigerate food, so I have to deal with the prices fluctuating a bit. It's not going to be the same each time I renew my stay at the hotel. But I don't expect it to reach the 500 USD range, it's going to be bellow that. The better approximate I guess is to get 480 USD for every 5 days of staying if feasible.

This is the current amount I got for the 3rd stay 66.11 is what I have left and the other two are donations that are still processing This isnt enough for the third hotel stay. (Due on the 13th) I would need around 500 USD (in case I need other needs like food/ set up the p.o. box) I'll appreciate any help!

I do not know how long I'm going to stay here, my homeless status is indefinite, I'll I can do is continue to work on finding resources for housing that will fit my financial situation while I try to stay in the hotel as much as possible. 10K USD is the amount asked because I know it may take a while to get things sorted, I may not need that amount, but if I don't and I reach it, I could always use it for deposits and so on as well as furnishing my apartment whenever I can get there. i've told parts of this story before, but bare with me, i'm emotional.

so like, i've had this blog since 2021. my original tumblr blog (made in 2011 iirc) was nuked in 2018 for exactly the reason you think (nsfw ban) and i didn't return for a handful of years because it stung so bad. even when i did, i mostly used twitter.

i started posting to tumblr more regularly when musk's twitter takeover finally pissed me off enough to ditch it. (i have since gone back, sort of, but am not reliably present and mostly just rt art people send me.) i've been pretty consistently here since then, sans a very angry break when all the shit with automattic's CEO happened.

and like... looking through my archives... i only made a dedicated tag for asks last july, even though i've been using an organizational tag system since i made this blog. that's how infrequent they were. my art usually got between 0 and 3 notes. when i left briefly back in january, i deleted every post in my art tag because i didn't want to leave my work here, but also, like... the only things that went anywhere were some of my mgs fanarts. no one owes anyone's work attention, but it didn't feel worth it, you know? like why share it with the public when i can just show it to the like 3 friends i know who care?

i came back partially because i felt... isolated. i have friends on the fediverse and on discord, but tumblr gave me a sense of being in a community, even if i didn't feel like an important part of said community. i missed queuing funny posts to enjoy weeks later, i missed being kept sort of in-the-loop about fandom goings-on, i missed my friends who were still here. (and that last one is also part of why i check twitter more now.)

but that alone wasn't enough, because i was a nobody here and it probably wasn't worth it to try again. but then devot and i started watching dungeon meshi, and i got into chilaios just like i thought i would, and tumblr has the largest concentration of chilaios fanart and posts. not only that, but every post i saw in the tag had so much engagement! i didn't see a single one that went unnoticed, back in february. so i hesitantly came back. i started reblogging chilaios posts. i didn't intend to try and break into the space because i knew it'd just hurt if i went unnoticed again, like i did in other fandoms.

but i made friends, little by little. i started a fanfic. i cautiously began posting my art again. i started writing meta, and shitposts, and replying on other people's posts, and commenting on other people's fics, and now...

that ask tag i mentioned? there are 15 pages of posts with that tag on my blog. only 2 and a half of those pages are asks from before i got into dunmeshi. people talk to me--they care about my thoughts and my opinions, they compliment the things i make. i have a group of like, 30+ people i interact with regularly, many of which i now consider close friends. everything i post gets some attention, no matter what it is.

this isn't a humblebrag, it's just... a thank you. i can't really properly express the depths of the loneliness i've felt in the past. i was an outcast for a long time, and it was way worse pre-2019, but i don't think it's ever fully left me. i've been hurt very, very badly in the past, and i've been abandoned a lot, and i've been ostracized a lot. i've grown into who i am today both in spite of and because of all i've been through, and for that i wouldn't ever change it, but it was still hard.

so today, as i turn 29, seeing asks and gifts pour in to tell me happy birthday, and that i'm appreciated... just, thank you.

if there's one thing you can give me today, it's this: reblog someone's art or writing or meta with some enthusiastic tags. send someone a friendly ask. reply to someone's post to comment on something they've said. write comments on ao3 for the fics that move you, no matter how much or how little you can think of to say.

this is going to sound cheesy as hell, but i genuinely mean it: reach out, and spread joy, whenever and wherever you can. you never know who's in pain, who's lonely or who feels worthless. and if it's you who feels that way, do what you can anyway; a community that isn't afraid to reach out will reach back to you, too. and you're not alone. i care, i promise--and more people than you realize do too.

it's so easy to underestimate how much a kind word can do. they add up, though. so keep going.

I'm sorry for the radio silence today, everyone, but just.. wow. I never thought I'd reach 500 of you guys.

Back when I had my old account, back when I was still in my early stages of writing, I don't think I ever got close to 500. Maybe 200, but never 500. And that's just.. I can't explain it, but gods, that means so much to me. Knowing I'm able to entertain people with my stories.

So.. I want to know, especially with Valentines Day just around the corner...

The 500 Followers event would still have regular requests being sent out, and it'd probably last about a week.

The Valentines Day event would last until 11:59 on February 14th, and all other requests would be put on hold until them.

End Of The Year Fanfic Asks (send me some???)

13. Favourite writing song/artist/album of this year?

So - I am going to assume that this means music that you enjoyed listening to while writing or music that inspired your fics?

I don't usually listen to music while writing fics, because I like to clear my head of all distractions during the actual writing process. But usually while I am thinking of ideas or getting in the mood to write a specific fic, then I will definitely curate songs for it. Or sometimes, if I am just listening to a random playlist, then a song that comes on will give me an idea for a fic and inspire me.

And like 80% of my fics are titled after songs, so I love using song lyrics as inspiration and using song motifs and imagery when writing fics.

This year, the album The Jaws of Life by Pierce The Veil was literally top notch for me.

I also really loved So Much (For) Stardust by Fall Out Boy, but surprisingly - The Jaws of Life inspired way more fics for me. It came out in February of 2023 and actually - while I did have the middle school emo phase and the emo trinity has always been sacred to me, I didn't start listening to Pierce The Veil actively until I was in my 20s. Which is fucking wild.

But upon hearing the single from this album, Emergency Contact, I fucking fell in love with it - and it was one of the main inspirations for this Jason Todd fic, which I think is one of the greatest fics I have ever written. And the sequel is going to be titled The Jaws of Life - which is another song off the album and I am so excited about how both song titles suit the fics so well.

And there is several other fics I have named after songs off this album (I could have easily named a fic after each song off the album cause I love it so much, but I was trying to use restraint) - Shared Trauma (Gar Logan x Reader), and Damn The Man, Save The Empire (Vanessa Shelly x Reader). And because I was listening to more Pierce The Veil in general, this fic got its title - King For A Day.

I highly, highly recommend the album if you are looking for some fanfic inspiration - or just something good to listen to.

14. A fic you didn't expect to write:

Okay so - this could have a few different answers. Because I absolutely was not expecting to randomly get back into Harry Potter, have another hardcore fixation with it, and end up writing fics for it in the year 2023.

But something I absolutely did not expect - to be writing Spencer Reid fanfiction. Writing the Lessons For A Genius oneshot (and it's follow up, especially so quickly) - I was shocked with myself, because I thought that the first CM fic I ever wrote would be my last.

Idk how many of the people reading this were following me in 2021, but I wrote and posted my first ever Criminal Minds fanfic back then - and mentally, as an artist, it was one of the wildest fanfiction experiences I have ever had.

Burn The Witch - my feelings about it are almost indescribable.

I often have these fics that I call 'mutated oneshots'. Fics that started out as a oneshot, that were always intended to be a oneshot (around 20k) that end up having these mutations and growths - some scenes need more shading in, the emotional arcs of the characters need more time to be fully informed, and while in my head, it is still fully a oneshot, it's now at 40k and I know nobody is going to read that in one sitting in a digestable way. So I have to break it up into parts and I hate doing that because it was never intended to be a series.

It's more like a movie that is getting commercial breaks when you put it on TV (and I think of a writing a series like an episode style TV show).

Some examples of these mutated oneshots are - You Shook Me All Night Long (intended to be one short part, ended up as four parts with a bonus blurb series). No Place Like Home is a huge one - meant to be a oneshot, then in my head it turned into a three shot - ended up as seven fucking parts and currently it's the longest thing I have written, sitting at 90k. I'm Still Standing is another good example.

And it gets even worse, because when I split things up into parts, I'm like "I can add a bit more to this chapter, because maybe I want the mood of the chapter to be a certain way, or I wanna frame the ending of the chapter a certain way so the audience is left with something cool" - and then that adds on like 5k more in a hot minute.

So - how does this affect my feelings about Burn The Witch and Criminal Minds fanfics overall?

Burn The Witch was supposed to be a short, smutty oneshot. That is it. But in the finished version, the sex scene and the smutty themes fall so far into the background - because this turned into an emotional casefic. This fic got so far away from me, and I drove myself insane while writing it, because I wanted to 'hold back', but then I couldn't. And I thought the dark and gory elements were some of the best things I have ever written - but it was received as a flop when I first posted it.

And when I posted it on Tumblr, the chapter with the smut scene in it was the one that always consistently got the most likes - even though it's a chapter in the middle of the story. So I could tell that even though I slaved over making the whole fic consistently very good, as a whole, well-rounded story, a lot of people were only reading one chapter in the middle of it for smut, and that's it. And that made me really upset.

(Like if you want a oneshot for smut, just go find one. It made me regret even labelling it as 'the smut chapter'.)

And just the pure mental and emotional exhaustion I went through to get such little return from the readers - I vowed that I was probably never going to write a Criminal Minds fic ever again.

And I have so many ideas for a sequel to Burn The Witch, but I think if I actually try plotting it all out and writing it and make it how I envision it - it will put me in a mental asylum, because it will end up being like 100k and I don't know if I can write it how I envision it being. Or if I will go crazy in the process.

So generally, I have such a love/hate relationship with writing Criminal Minds fanfics. I think they're fun and I think they can turn out so good, but the readers can be so picky and demanding in that fandom specifically. So I often like to steer clear unless a particular idea is just haunting me. Which is why I am surprised that I ended up writing more for CM this year.

favourite band/artist: halsey. has been halsey for years. that woman shaped me to who i am today. i evolve with her music and feel like i grow alongside her. main inspiration for everything. other than that i'm warming up to imagine dragons and i have quite some amazing dutch bands (with english lyrics) like Kuzko and Goldkimono i'm really excited about.

last movie: unfortunately i do not watch movies regularly, i do wanna start with that again, i fucking love movies. i think the most recent one i watched was the king's man, a kingsman prequel. it was nice, had a true kingsman ring to it but wasn't as funny as the first two.

last show: i'm binging h20 just add water and having a good ol' time. they don't make shows like that anymore and it's really sad. i'll continue with totally spies after this, i am forever stuck in my childhood. oh and also kaleidoscope, pretty decent show.

when I created this blog: this one was created in february 2019 as a sideblog to my mainblog and only fully transferred to an f1 blog in 2021 i think. i have not understood tumblr for the longest time and only think i started getting the hang of it in 2021.

average hours of sleep: a steady 8-9 hours every day. i am a migraine babe in need of routine in fear of migraine so i get pretty decent sleep every night and wake up at around the same time.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ME!

I just hit 500 followers today and I would like to thank everyone who has joined me on this fanfiction journey.

I started this blog at the end of December with the goal to get back into writing (as my psychic suggested) and to explore my new found love for Tenoch Huerta. Suffice to say it has been rather successful.

It's been a crazy few months with bursts of inspiration and some dry spells. I am learning to pace myself after burning myself out in February. I appreciate every person who has sent in a request and I will eventually get to my back log.

If you haven't noticed I have been working on shorter pieces of work "blurbs" to get my inspiration going and it has really helped me. I think I will continue with the blurbs for awhile so be on the look out for another Ask Game once I finish the last few blurbs I have left.

So far my AO3 doesn't have the blurbs yet but I will be adding them soon. Just not sure if I should have a different post for each blurb or just make a larger collection to house all of them since it spans a few characters. Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I hope to continue with this writing exercise and also making friends along the way. (Also if you haven't joined the Tenoch Coven discord you should. I can send you the link.)

A Sad but Happy but Sad Update

Hello everyone. I hope you’re all having a wonderful evening and that the full moon is shining as brightly and beautifully where you are as it is here.

This full moon is a bitter sweet one for me. After close to two years of development, Blood Moon is finished. It is time to submit it to Hosted Games. That, unfortunately, means it’s also time to take down the public demo. I have removed the game from Dashingdon and will send the files to Hosted Games, hopefully soon (there are still a few pieces of art I’m waiting for, but I don't think that will take too long).

I wish I had more to say but I’m a little lost for words right now… I suppose I’ll just say what I always say, which is thank you. This community has been absolutely incredible and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the help and support I’ve received over the last couple of years. Without this community, Blood Moon would not be the game it is today.

Thank you for playing. I hope you’ve enjoyed your time running with wolves. I couldn’t have asked for a better pack of players.

Okay... so I've been thinking... werewolf slang.

What are some words or phrases that you think werewolves would use? Here's some ideas I've had:

"Stray" - a werewolf without a pack. Eg, 'There is a stray wandering around the edge of our territory'.

"Moon mad" - a werewolf who goes totally berserk under the light of the full moon. Eg, 'Some of us just can't control anymore, especially in old age. My old man went moon mad near the end.'

"Showing fur" - to transform either fully or partially into wolf form. Eg, 'Frank had to leave quick. He got angry and started showing fur.'

"Pup" - a minor insult typically coming from an older werewolf and directed at a younger one. Eg, 'Back up a step, pup. You're out of line'.

"Cub" - a werewolf child. Similar to the human word 'kid'. Eg, "Who's going to pick the cubs up from school?"

Feel free to add your own! I want this post to turn into a werewolf urban dictionary.

July 18th! Miro Heiskanen's birthday!

Glad you asked because I was just thinking that I might have to do a post about this.

Here are some off the top of my head:

Rakas (dear, loved - this is used both in addressing very close people like dear - rakas äiti, dear mom, and by itself when it has basically the same meaning as the next one ->)

Rakkaani (my love)

Kulta (literal meaning gold but this is the most usual pet name. I think it is used pretty much the same way as darling and sweetheart - it can also be used in a condescending way, lapsi kulta, child dear, has more the sound of a oh sweet summer child. But basically this would be your honey/darling/sweetheart)

The three above are the most usual ones, the ones below can be and are also used:

beibi, hani (literally the english words baby and honey, only written the way they would be written in finnish. Beibi can also be used in the same meaning as babe, referring to a cute, hot, desirable girl)

Muru (literally crumb, I think it's shortened from the next one ->)

Kullanmuru, kultamuru (gold crumb, for me the uses of these are closest to Sweetheart or sweetie)

Pupu, pupunen (bunny, (li'l) honeybunny - for people that you can see calling each other bunny. I get a feel that this could be easier used by a mother to a child than an adult couple to each other but, you know, if you're the type)

I want everyone to consider that the purity-anti-tendencies against any chosen part of fanfic contribute to broadening the platform for these tendencies overall. There is a parallel between the willingness to censor uncomfortable themes and tropes from Ao3 and the willingness to censor LGBTQ+ education from schools or ban books from public libraries. If you don't want the latter, do not contribute to the former.

Not every story is for everyone. Choose your reading, use the back button liberally but the abuse report button with great consideration.

Remember:

the author is not the same as their work

what would be illegal, for a reason, in the real world, is not illegal to imagine

the author that you wish to hurt for something they have created is a real living person; the characters in their fiction are not

Was just relistening to “We don’t talk about Bruno” and at the end of the song when everyone is circling mirabel as justice puts the prophecy back together, Isabel is singing “I’m fine! I’m fine! I’m fineeeee!”

GOD the attention to detail.

Thanks for the ask @adventuresofprettyboyandthekid :) I'm excited to be adored - and it's coming right back at you (even though that's probably not how it's supposed to work, but what are rules if not to be broken for truth?) :)

This is kind of a hard one, I feel like I shuffle around my style and so many of the highest kudos fics are not really representative of my strong suits since it's typically just a right trope at the right time that decides kudos counts so I can't just cheat and use those ones. Um... I guess for my own personal preference then my best written fic is probably The World is Round and the Sky is Infinite (Harringrove). Followed closely by There's Not Much Left (Deran/Adrian). Blue Stained Glass (Gallavich) was another that I think had solid writing in it. Will You Remember Me When I Can't Remember Myself? (Sterek) is decently written. There's some chapter gems in Uneasy In This Skin (Sterek). And what do they all have in common? Angst. So much angst.

So the patterns:

Well, I guess there are two that open with dialogue. There are two that open with it being a long day/night. There are two that seem as though the person does not want to be there. Crying, sad Stiles is still the worst thing on the planet. I feel like I should point out that the second line of that last one is: Of his own apartment. (because he's drunk and being a fool).

I'm bad at picking stuff apart because I always feel like that's not the point, the point is to just sit down and write. Have fun. Maybe learn a few things along the way, maybe not. The only person that needs to enjoy the process is the writer, it's just a bonus if the readers do too. And it always makes my day if one of them does :)

And looking at some of these standing alone makes me wonder why anyone keeps reading, lol! I salute all of you who made it past those first lines :)

My #1 post of 2022

I didn’t think I’d have anything to post this week but I guess the good part of having about half a dozen 20k+ documents that I’ve been pouting over for months just lying around means I can pick a poison and start drinking.  

So the current poison is Maybe In Other Lives , a Sterek work that includes Derek renovating a cabin, Stiles being a badass, and soulmates in infinite lives.  Beware the canon landmines in this one.  Heavy on Derek’s awful past, the first two chapters are pretty depressing and they’re up now.  Woo hoo!

How do you think the Yautja would react to their human s/o after learning of Yautja's how much they hate the cold, and their human s/o goes the extra mile to get them to be comfy during the Winter that they bought extra Big fluffy blanks, and a few REALLY BIG sweaters from them while they stay in earth

Since they are in similar veins, you might also like this ask that I did.

The Yautja come from a planet with two suns that is mostly desert. Snow and cold isn’t something they are accustomed to unless they are traveled and seasoned hunters.

Long story short, they are not built for the winter. While they can still survive the harsh cold much better than humans, they would prefer not to.

Make no mistake, a huge part of them is touched you went out of your way to make sure they’d be comfortable and cozy during their winter visits.

Another part of them, however, is worried that you see their aversion to the cold as weakness.

Yautja hunters aren’t used to receiving gifts from their SO’s. They’re used to presenting them as proof of their prowess.

Basically, many yautja are quite bad at receiving gifts without some confusion.

They’re going to be getting a lot of mileage out of those warm clothes as they drag you outside for various “winter activities” to prove themselves to you.

Thankfully, you don’t have to worry about them getting sick. Their immune systems are nearly impenetrable.

By the time you manage to drag them back inside you’re both going to be cold and wet and ready for those blankets.

You might have to give a lecture about how they need to stop feeling like they need to earn the gifts you give them. Just know they are appreciative; even if they have trouble expressing it.

Any headcanons of a Yautja with a smol s/o?? 👀👀👀

Just curious

Of course, smol and tall together at last.

They’re going to point it out. A lot. Sometimes they’ll affectionately refer to you as a paperweight.

Or puppy. Puppy is also quite common.

They have you sit on their back during pushups.

You’re going to get picked up often. And not always for cute reasons.

See, you are outside their “sight zone”. Anything below their chest is practically a blind spot. Their eyes are a lot more inset than ours.

They really don’t mean to. But the amount of times you’ve been tripped over, elbowed in the face, or just straight up run over is ridiculous.

They are very apologetic.

Kissing requires a bit of awkward bending down and stretching but kissing a yautja is awkward anyway.

Given your height, head pats are extremely commonplace.

So long as you enjoy being carried around and jokes about your height don’t bother you, you shouldn’t have a problem.

If you’re still taking headcanon requests can you do one for Yautja with a plus size S/O who is used to human partners and tells their Yautja “don’t pick me up you’ll hurt yourself” and the Yautja being confused?

They laugh at you. Like genuinely belly-laugh at you. That was a good joke.

They get a little huffy about it, initially taking your words as doubt against their abilities.

They pick you up with ease and, for good measure, lift you above their head and spin. They laugh as you scream to be put down.

Once you’re back on the ground and your head has stopped spinning, you gently explain that you’ve injured some of your exes who’ve tried to pick you up. It was just a force of habit.

Your mate scoffs and loudly declares your former mates as weak.

They hoist you up again, wrapping your thighs around their waist with a purr. They insist to pick you up far more often now.

They’ll likely encourage you sit on their back when they do push-ups or ride their back when they go running.

Hell you two went on a forest walk and had to cross a stretch of water that was two inches deep at most. They insisted you ride on their shoulders. No they were not kidding.

You rode their shoulders after some bickering.
