what makes Cinder such a compelling 2012 not-like-other-girls protagonist is that she is surrounded by Other Girls, and she loves them. Iko and Peony are the most stereotypical teenage girls obsessed with pretty clothes and boys and pop culture and she would die for either of them in a heartbeat. Iko rolls in with makeup smeared all over her plastic face and Cinder is like "ayy girl slay!". she knows that she is JUST like other girls in all the ways that matter.

THEY ARE HONESTLY SO PRECIOUS Like the fact Moko has this large loud loving family that she's desperate to get away from, and how Kyoko (around chapter 223 I think?) acknowledges that, and doesn't judge her for it despite her own life having been devoid of a loving family, and how Kyoko still acknowledges that she envy's the love and connections others have, but never allows it to effect how she feels or acts towards them (I LOVE HER SO MUCH MORE THAN I ALREADY DID) and Moko is such a steadfast friend, and shows it in all these little ways <3333
