forever thinking about st. maria goretti.
she was 14 when she was threatened with rape by a 20 year old farmhand. when she fought against him, he stabbed her several times. she used her dying breath to forgive her attacker.
despite everything that happened— her struggle, her pain, her forgiveness of her murderer— she is remembered by the catholic church as a saint who would “rather die than commit a sin”.
the sin of what? being a victim? the sin of living in a world that teaches men they can hurt whoever they want? the sin of daring to say no?
forever thinking about st. maria goretti.

The Mummy (1999), Van Helsing, Renfield, and The Shape of Water all succeeded at being worthy remakes/tributes to the Universal Horror franchise because they are all inherently camp
The Mummy (2017) failed that goal because it's too busy trying to be a Tom Cruise movie to be camp

Our Hallowed Ground
Chapter 4: Blackberry Wine
Familiar!Sun/Moon/Eclipse x Y/N (SFW)
You bring back a brown bottle of blackberry wine.
Word Count: ~2,900
Warnings: Slightly suggestive, mentions of animal abuse, drinking, and the reader being drunk.
A/N: I decided to write this little drabble as a warm-up and a return to the rhythm of Double Toil and Trouble. I miss the magic and the familiar boys and all the dark corners of this cozy AU, and I hope you have too! I must warn you that this contains slight spoilers for DT&T. Now then, to the blackberry wine!

In Light (Double Toil and Trouble)
Familiar!Sun x Witch!Y/N (SFW)
In the heat of the afternoon, you admire meadow flowers with Sun.
Word Count: 2,400~
Warnings: Slightly suggestive and heavy kissing.
A/N: Back at it again with the self-indulgence that is my personal kryptonite fluff. It's Sun's time to shine! Once more, this does contain slight spoilers for Double Toil and Trouble.

WIP Sunday
Thank you for the tag as ever, @dirty-bosmer! Tagging @cumbiazevran, @ollifree @memaidraws and @aria-i-adagio if you'd like. Here is a bit from Hallowed Ground featuring the bestest boys
In the fullness of that winter, Savos had outgrown the last of his tutors. Zennat hefted magic, and Teldryn struck with it, but to Savos it was life, as easy and inevitable as breath. He walked on water and treaded air; his heels hovered ever over flights of stairs. Everywhere he went was a cloud of starlight, floating idly over his shoulder. When he ventured into the barrows he had no use for lamps. Blue fire came to life at the snap of his fingers. Imps and wraiths tailed him, meek and supple as pets on a leash. With a whispered word he coaxed spirits into cold bones, and with another he banished them.
It wasn't enough. Zennat could see it now, the ghostly shape of Savos' ambition, already sprawling the breadth of the city. His windows would not darken until dawn, and Savos, who was once cautious and pensive, now coaxed them into adventure to dig through tombs, set off to the outskirts to chase rumors and tales. When Neloth's reply finally arrived at the start of Sun's Dusk, he threw it to the side in frustration, and shut himself in his room, writing and writing and writing again.
One night, sprawled atop the roof in the warmth of Savos' fire, he turned to them, face shining from the flush of his own power. "Look," He tossed a few flickering lights to the air. They danced and joined and formed shapes. "It's us."
The boys made of light leapt into a starry ocean. They ran up the rocky slopes of a cliff, the wind knocking them backward. Then they were perched atop birds, taking off into the sky, hands reaching out to scoop the chill night.
"That never happened." Teldryn grumbled, even though his eyes sparkled. Teldryn wore his hair shorter now, dark feathery wisps tumbling to his neck, pinned back on one side. He'd taken a habit of tossing back the strands falling to his eyes as he spoke. His mouth curled into a sharp smile, and Zennat looked away from the stars.
"It doesn't have to, silly." Savos rolled his eyes. "You still knew it was us."
Zennat's hand found Teldryn's, and Teldryn's eyes met his. Zennat's heart was in his throat, as if he couldn't speak without coughing it out.
Boys made of light.
Had he not fallen in love that winter's night, he would have known Savos was saying goodbye.
