the start of the sassy man apocalypse can be tracked all the way back to 2005 when sam winchester first heard the words, ‘dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days’

I have a little request. Idk if it could be a lil one off or maybe mini series or just ignore it lol
But maybe Jason decided to retire and he’s just living his best lil domestic life with his partner when Dick or someone breaks into their house in the middle of the night and has a full “Dad’s on a hunting trip and hasn’t come home in a few days”
The house was dark. Quiet. And it was Jason's favorite time of day. You were procrastinating going to bed with old episodes of Maury playing. Your head on his stomach.
And he was debating just carrying you to bed. Like he would one of the kids when they fell asleep where they dropped. But. Honestly- he was invested. He wanted to know if the baby daddy was the crusty old redneck or his slightly less crusty son.
And that's when all hell broke loose. The door bell rang and the dogs started barking. "Huh-"
"Stay here," Jason said, shifting you over. And wishing for the hundredth time there was a better place to keep guns handy. But- Kaylie's skateboard would have to do. Especially since Lee kept taking the baseball bat he tried to keep by the door.
"Move," He hissed at the dogs, hucking the yorkie mix into the closet and nudging the aging wolfhound and the Boxer mix out of the way- what they thought they would do Jason had no Idea. The boxer mix would lick them to death and the Wolfhound, well. He'd try but frankly he'd probably keel over. And the Yorkie would just get stomped on.
He peered through the peephole only to see Dick standing on the porch, hands in his pockets. And he exhaled. Even if he didn't relax.
He still unlocked the door, "It's one in the morning-"
"B went on a trip and no one's been able to get a hold of him," Dick said, pushing his way inside. "Have you heard anything?"
"Jay? What's going on?"
"Baby, it's fine," he said, turning from glaring at his brother who was trying to fend off the affections of the Boxer and trying not to agitate the now irritated wolfhound. "Take- take these demons and go check on the kids?"
"But what's-"
"I'll explain everything in a minute," he said kissing your cheek before snatching the yorkie back out of the closet and shoving her into your arms, Knowing you'll put her in with Kylie. And that the Boxer will settle down with Lee. And your beloved Wolfhound will happily take his spot on the bed.
"Kids and dogs, huh?" Dick asked watching you go.
"They were here before I was," Jason said shrugging. Not bothering to mention the one on the way. The less Dick knew the better. He was retired. Bruce told him to leave and he did. Bruce disowned him and he found a new family. "But no. I haven't heard from Bruce. Or anyone."

Supernatural AU of the Bats but it ends in like the first ten minutes of the first episode because Sam and Dean are Jason and Dick.
“Dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days,” Dick crossed his arms, rocking back on the soles of his feet and normal smile missing.
“Sucks for him,” Jason replied. “Fuck off, Dickie, I’m busy.”
And then Jason tosses Dick a drink and they’re like lmao dad can handle himself. Jason doesn’t have a girlfriend, he just has Roy, who’s also wearing the Smurf crop top thing. Bruce comes back to wherever the hell he’s been after stopping the whole war thing by himself (as if he’s gonna let angels or demons get near his kids, puh-fucking-lease.) and just goes “hey I brought back the colt. Jason, you can have it if you join us for dinner.”
And Jason’s like lol new gun me likey

Tumblr media
"Dad hasn't been home in a few days."
Sam took a deep breath before responding, "So, he's working one of his usual overtime shifts on a 'Miller Time'. It's nothing to worry about. He's bound to stumble back in sooner or later."
Dean glanced down at the cold, hard ground, allowing his eyes to linger there for a moment before looking back up at Sam. His voice was full of concern as he said, "Dad’s on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a few days."
Sam’s expression remained stoic, giving away nothing of the worry that was slowly starting to creep in. Jess, who had been quietly observing the exchange, glanced up at him.
"Jess, excuse us. We have to go outside."
Tumblr media
"I mean, come on. You can't just break into my place in the middle of the night, and expect me to hit the road with you," Sam said, his voice echoing in the silence of the night as he followed Dean down the stairs.
"You're not hearing me, Sammy. Dad's missing. I'm not just asking you to hit the road with me. I need you to help me find him." He looked back at Sam, his eyes pleading for understanding.
"I- I don’t understand, why couldn’t you have called Y/N? Isn’t she an FBI agent or something like that?" Sam questioned, his hand reaching out to grab Dean’s shoulder in an attempt to halt his progress.
Dean sighed loudly, a sound that echoed throughout the quiet night. He bounced on the balls of his feet, a nervous habit he had whenever he was troubled. "Well I… kinda don’t know where she is…" he admitted shamefully.
Sam’s eyebrows furrowed, a clear sign of his confusion. "What do you mean you ‘don’t know where she is’?"
Dean pursed his lips and rubbed his hands together, his gaze dropping to the ground. "Well I don’t know her exact location but I know she’s somewhere in Washington DC or something like that!"
Sam scoffed in disbelief and shook his head. "That’s all the way across the country."
"Well did you want this to go quicker?" Dean shot back defensively.
Sam simply rolled his eyes at Dean.
"Look, are you coming with me or not?" Dean asked, his patience clearly running thin.
"I’m not." Sam said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"Why not?" Dean questioned, his frustration clear.
"I swore I was done hunting. For good."
"Come on. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t all bad."
Dean starts heading down the stairs once again, with Sam quickly on his trail.
Tumblr media
"You know, in almost three years I've never bothered you, never asked you for a thing," Dean tried to reason, his voice softening.
Sam looks away and sighs, then looks back.
"All right. I'll go. I'll help you find the both of them."
Tumblr media
Y/N, a 32 year old FBI agent, sat in the back of the ambulance as the woman cleaned up her many cuts. Her shoulder had been stabbed by the unsub and her head was smashed into a sheet of glass.
"Alright, you're done." The woman finished cleaning her cuts, placing a bandage on her forehead and applying gauze tape to her wound.
Y/N smiled at the woman and hopped off the ambulance truck.
"Y/N!" someone shouted from the distance. She turned to see her great friend Adam, who was the first one to welcome her to the FBI.
She smiled softly as he gave her a comforting hug, "Ow, my shoulder." Her nose scrunched up in pain.
"Sorry," the corners of his mouth turned up as he let go of her.
Other agents of the FBI walked up to her, thanking her for her bravery. "Thank you for saving that girl's life."
"No problem." She gave them a comforting smile.
The agents walked away to discuss matters with other departments.
Y/N and Adam talked about the case for a little while, before Adam turned his attention to something behind her.
"Hey, do you know those people over there?" He asked.
She turned around to look at the people Adam was pointing at. She tilted her head to the side, squinting slightly as she tried to recognize them.
Why did they look so familiar?
Her face paled when she realized who they were.
"Uhm, yea- yeah I do, I’ll be right back," she stuttered, patting his shoulder reassuringly before she walked away.
"What are you guys doing here and how in the hell did you guys find me?" Y/N whispered-yelled at the two boys, her eyes wide with surprise.
"We need your help," Dean replied simply.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows and put her hands in the back pockets of her jeans, "Oh, so all of a sudden you both need me after what, three years of not talking to me?"
Dean, with a dramatic flair that was all too typical of him, let out an exaggerated sigh. "Listen-" he began, a note of desperation creeping into his voice.
But she cut him off, her frustration palpable. "Dean, please, I really don’t have time for this," she said, waving a hand dismissively.
Sam, practically silent until now, took a step forward. His eyes critically scanned over her face and body, noting the signs of recent distress. "What happened to your shoulder?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
In response, she lifted a brow and shot him a sarcastic look. "Take a guess, Sam. I’m in the FBI," she said dryly.
He rolled his eyes at her retort. Typical Y/N, he thought, not for the first time.
Dean, who had been silent during their exchange, finally spoke. "Dad’s been missing for a few days, and we… we need you," he stated, his eyes narrowed and serious.
Her reaction was almost immediate. Her jaw tightened, her eyes darkened, her whole demeanor turned defensive. "And why would I want to find him?" she shot back, her voice icy.
He faltered, at a loss for words. He turned away, his gaze landing aimlessly on the nearby crime site.
Now it was Sam’s turn to speak up. He stepped forward, his eyes pleading. "Y/N, please, we really need you right now," he implored, giving her a puppy-dog look. It was a tactic he used to use all the time when he was younger to get what he wanted.
She looked away from him, her lips pursed, her face screwed up in thought. After a long pause, she finally voiced her question. "How- how long is this going to take?"
Dean was the one to answer. "Four days."
She sighed out loud, a wearied sound that echoed in the silence. "You do realize I have a real job, right?" she asked, a note of exasperation in her voice.
Dean rolled his eyes, a retort already forming on his lips. But before he could speak, Y/N interrupted him.
"Fine, I’ll go with you two," she said, her voice resigned.
Dean smiled lightly, relief flooding his features. "Thank you, Y/N."
And so, they walked together to Dean's car, unaware of the challenges and dangers that lay ahead of them.

Destiel Fic Recs
Are You Writing From the Heart? By luckshiptoshore @luckshiptoshore (Explicit, 86k)
This fic is equal parts hilarious and touching. A ride of meta delight.
Cas Novak has been hired to ghost write the hit book series Supernatural after the original writer disappeared. He spends his days in a coffee shop trying to somehow write something compelling from Chuck's messy notes.
But a chance meeting with a cute boy turns his life and the narrative upside down. As they grow closer, Cas finds himself questioning everything he thought he knew about himself.
This fic ties in canon in such a fun way as Cas works through the plot. It also features a deeply repressed “straight” Cas who is struggling in a way that will make you want to shake and hug him at the same time.
Theres a lot of humor, but underneath is a really beautiful story about the stories we tell. It's a gorgeous journey that will leave you emotional.
(S)ex Parte by corrupt_touch (AmberXBoone) @corrupt-touch (Explicit, 25k)
Listen. I'm a burnt out lawyer. So on the very rare occasion I will read a lawyer fic, it's about burnt out lawyers and this one certainly hits that part of my brain.
Dean is miserable in his job as a corporate defense attorney, and his current case where he has to defend a soulless pharmaceutical company isn't helping. Desperate to get away for a few hours, he finds a cute guy in a bar for a mind-melting night of sex. It would be a total win, except the same guy walks into the courtroom the next day. He's the judge. Can Dean and Cas forget their wild night of passion, or will they risk everything to recapture the magic?
The desperate, needy, immediately profound bond between Dean and Cas is what makes this fic. Truly, they are two magnets pulled together. Also, there are some beautiful themes about leaving the past - and parental expectations -behind.
Phantasma by thisisapaige @thisisapaige (Explicit, 30k)
Dad's on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in awhile. Dean considers trying to get his brother Sammy to help, but he seems so happy.
So he decides to buy a haunted house and settle down. He'll clear out this ghost (some lady named Naomi) and the place will be all his.
Except it turns out the ghost isn't a lady, but a hot dude named Cas. A lonely phantom and a lonely human finding comfort and companionship together.
This fic does have a happy ending, so don't worry! The fic has a nice mystery as Dean and Cas work to try to understand what happened to him, but it's the softness of these two together that really stands out.
Theres something so beautiful about these two guys, both alone for so long, finding joy in each other.
Ghost Town by blue_morning, xfancyfranart (Teen, 25k) (art by @xfancyfranart )
Speaking of ghosts, this one features a soft tropey love story with a really fun setting and a meddling ghost (Jo) who ships it.
When Cas inherits a ghost town from his eccentric uncle, he isn't sure what to think, but he decides he wants to check it out. Unfortunately for Cas, what he doesn't check out is the weather.
Luckily, the grumpy town caretaker, Dean Winchester, is there to save him. Unluckily, they have to wait out the snow storm in the abandoned ghost town.
There's only one bed and they're snowed in. throw in a surprise mystery treasure hunt and a bored ghost and you have yourself a fun, soft story.
I'll Follow You Into the Dark by FriendofCarlotta @friendofcarlotta (Explicit, 15k)
This one hurts so good. A fix-it (but Dean lived because fuck that), this fic explores Dean’s grief and desperation to get Cas back.
When he realizes the price of admission into the Empty is being an angel or a demon, Dean takes extreme steps to save his angel. But will Dean lose himself in the process?
It's a beautiful story of love and sacrifice with a soft landing. Even if it ruins a certain item from Ikea for you.
The Princess Bride by foxymoley @foxymoley (Teen, 20k)
Like peanut butter and chocolate, the marriage of The Princess Bride and Supernatural is a combination that works.
Its a retelling of the movie featuring all your favorite lines. There's humor! There's true love! There are pirates!
Some of the details are changed obviously (Dred Pirate Cas and Inigo Montoya Dean, for example, are the main love interests), but it works really well and I found myself grinning like a fool the entire time I read this.

Anyone want to rewatch and discuss #supernatural with me?
My thoughts on S1:E1 Pilot:
1. Most important line: “Dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days”
2. Damn these boys were young!
3. Dean has been adorable since day one.

For @seasononesam’s 1k Follower Celebration Sam & Dean // Pilot References
image description: scenes from the Pilot episode compared to various scenes using the same dialogue from “Swan Song,” “Alpha and Omega,” “Twigs & Twine & Tasha Banes,” “Back and to the Future,” and “Carry On”
1x01: 4-year-old Dean runs from their burning house before turning back to look up at the light from the window of Sam’s nursery. He tells baby Sam, “It’s okay, Sammy.” Then John comes running from the house to pick them up and carry them away, saying, “I gotcha.”
5x22: Sam looks at Dean bloody and on the ground. Sam is struggling to keep control, and he tells him, “It’s okay, Dean. It’s gonna be okay. I’ve got him.”
1x01: In John’s cluttered motel room, Sam gets Dean’s attention and says, “Hey, Dean? What I said earlier, about mom and dad, I’m sorry.” Dean holds up a hand to stop him and says, “No chick-flick moments.” Sam says, “Alright. Jerk.” Dean almost smiles and responds, “Bitch.” before turning to walk away. Sam smiles.
11x23: Dean, not looking at Sam, says “No chick-flick moments, come on.” Sam won’t look at him either, then he clears his throat as he takes Dean’s keys. Sam says, “Yeah, you love chick-flicks.” He laughs. Dean nods and says, “Yeah, you’re right, I do. Come here.” and he grabs Sam’s shoulders to pull him in for a hug.
1x01: Dean stands in Sam and Jessica’s living room, looking down before he looks up to stare at Sam and tell him, “Dad’s on a hunting trip. And he hasn’t been home in a few days.”
12x20: In the bunker, Sam rolls his shoulders and sighs a little before reciting to Dean, “Their mom’s on a hunting trip, and hasn’t been home in a week.”
1x01: Outside Sam’s building, Dean tells him matter-of-factly, “I can’t do this alone.” Sam shakes his head a little, squinting, as he says, “Yes, you can.” Dean looks down and away before he says, “Yeah. Well, I don’t want to.” Sam blinks, then looks around before hanging his head, resigned.
15x20: In the barn, Sam is crying as he tells Dean, “I can’t do this without you.” Dean looks up at him and quietly responds, “Yes, you can.” Sam looks away and shakes his head, choked up, before looking back to answer, “Well, I don’t want to.” Dean, watery-eyed, smiles a little.
15x01: Both standing at the trunk of the impala, Dean says, “Well, you know what that means.”  They both look into the trunk before Sam says, “We got work to do.” Sam lifts his arm to close the trunk, and the scene changes to show him closing the trunk in the same way at the end of the Pilot.

Tumblr media
Having Cas back didn’t feel real. Losing him hadn’t felt real either, but Dean never had to remind himself that he was gone when he had been in the empty — now he had to pinch himself every five minutes to make sure that Cas wasn’t a hallucination. Now it didn’t feel real in a good way, instead of not feeling real in a drinking-himself-into-oblivion-on-the-library-floor way.
What Cas had confessed that night almost a year ago still hasn’t been talked about. Dean didn’t know how to bring it up. He didn’t know how to tell the angel that all he’d been wanting to do since Jack brought him back was kiss him stupid and never let him out of his sight again. So, Dean opts for dates, because he’s not good with his words. Besides, isn’t Cas supposed to be able to read his mind anyway?
Dean doesn’t call them dates — not out loud, anyway — but they’re all intricately planned out with the intention to introduce Cas to all the behind-the-scenes things that Dean loves while also teaching him how to have fun the human way. Dean’s got interests besides hunting monsters, you know. And that wasn’t even an itch he was tempted to scratch anymore. Not since they got Cas back.
The first not-date was a trip to the ice cream shop in town. Dean got chocolate chip and Cas got strawberry, and they sat outside and talked about all the things Cas had missed in the six months that he’d been gone. The second was mini-golf, where Cas had asked if it was “the game that Claire beat you in?” to which Dean had to deny even though he knew Cas knew he was lying through his teeth — he had watched Claire text him the score card that night. A week after mini-golf was a movie night, where Cas didn’t complain once about Dean making him watch Tombstone again. The fourth not-date was at Dean’s favorite burger joint, where he happily listened to Cas chastise him about how bad greasy food was for your cholesterol, because it was Cas sitting across from him and not the empty seat he had gotten used to for half a year.
Today is not-date number five, and it’s the one Dean is most excited about. Admittedly, it‘s been years since he’s been to a baseball game. He went to a few after Adam had admitted that John had taken him to one when he was a kid, maybe to prove to himself that he didn’t need his dad to make childhood dreams come true, or maybe because he had been hoping that his dad could see him somehow, happy without him. Either way, he ended up enjoying it quite thoroughly. The environment more so than the game, and the food more so than the environment — but he’s excited to introduce Cas to it all. Cas, on the other hand, hasn’t got a clue as to why humans are so interested in watching people hit balls with bats and run around in circles — but he’s happy to be wherever Dean is.
“Here you go, buddy,” Dean grunts as he takes a seat next to the angel, handing him a hot dog while he places his nachos in his lap.
“Thank you,” Cas replies, staring at the food. He had made the mistake of telling Dean that his burgers had tasted good a few days after he was brought back, when in reality he was just being nice and everything still tasted like molecules. He didn’t have the heart to tell Dean otherwise, though. Not when he was so excited to introduce Cas to so many new foods.
“Alright,” Dean begins, mouth full of nachos, “that’s home base.” He points to a white plate on the field, and Cas has to squint to make out which one he’s referring to. “The one closest to us,” Dean explains, noticing Cas’s confusion. “And then going counter-clockwise, it’s first base, second base, and third base. You get points by…”
By the end of Dean’s explanation, Cas is certain he could go out there and play the game himself. “I think I understand,” he states. “So when does it begin?”
Dean snorted a laugh, nearly choking on his beer. “Dude, it’s been going for like an hour.”
“Oh. It isn’t very exciting, then.”
“It never is until the end.”
It’s the end of the sixth inning, and Cas feels like he’s never sat through anything longer in his life. He supposes it is getting slightly more exciting, as the scores are close and the crowd is starting to care more, but he still doesn’t understand why people willingly sit through this. Not that he minds — as long as Dean is happy. Right now they’re playing the latest pop song and showing audience members dancing on the jumbo screen hanging above the field, and Dean laughs at a little boy who couldn’t be more than ten doing a dance called “flossing”. Cas only knows what it’s called because Jack was very proud of himself when he learned it, and attempted to teach everyone in the bunker — unsuccessfully.
“Remember when Jack —”
“Almost had me dislocate my hip trying to learn that shit? Yeah. I had to hear about it from Sam for fuckin’ weeks.”
“I thought it was very nice of you to indulge him, Dean. I never took you for the dancing type.”
Dean tries to hide the blush creeping up in his cheeks from the compliment. “Yeah, well, if I wasn’t before, I’m definitely not now. Hip’s still sore.”
Cas smiles and looks back up to the screen, surprised to see two crowd members kissing. He furrows his eyebrows in confusion. “Kiss cam?” he reads the hot pink font at the bottom of the screen.
Dean looks up from his second helping of nachos. “Oh, yeah. Kiss cam,” he repeats, as if that explains everything. Cas blinks at him. He sighs. “When the camera lands on you, you’re supposed to kiss. It’s like a staple baseball game thing. Spreading the love or whatever.”
“And what if the person you are seated next to is not a significant other?”
“Then it’s really awkward,” Dean chuckles, trying to imagine what he’d do if the kiss cam landed on him and Cas. Not that he was hoping for it or anything, but maybe it’d be his chance to —
“Oh, yes,” Cas interrupts his thoughts. “I suppose this is awkward.”
Dean’s mortified. He blinks a few times, making sure that it’s really his face up there next to Cas’s. There’s no mistaking the lumberjack flannel and tan trench coat staring back at him, and he’s not sure what to do. Of course he wants to kiss Cas. But here? Now? His throat is dry as he looks over to the angel and laughs awkwardly, his hand waving off the camera — no, fuck, why is he doing that? He should kiss him — he should grab Cas by the collar and fucking kiss him because this is the perfect excuse. But he’s too slow, and the camera moves on.
They sit in silence for a few moments, Dean glancing at Cas, Cas intently watching the screen. Maybe if he watched it hard enough the camera would come back to them. Maybe Cas could finally finish what he had started to say all those months ago, before he was taken. Maybe he could finally do what he wanted to do that night. Maybe —
Now his throat is dry as he sees himself on the screen again. His eyes grow wide as he looks over to Dean, who’s staring at the jumbotron with his mouth slightly agape.
Dean risks a side-eye over at Cas. He can hear the crowd chanting “kiss, kiss, kiss”, although everything is muffled. He turns his head, and fully looks at Cas, who seems expectant, almost. Okay, so he’s cool with Dean kissing him. Is he cool with Dean kissing him? Don’t overthink it, you moron.
Cas licks his lips instinctively, because God, Dean’s right there. But he can’t bring himself to do it. Does Dean even want this?
The camera moves on again. They’re brought back to reality by the disappointed groans from the crowd. Dean’s red in the face, scratching his neck awkwardly. Cas looks back to the screen, because he doesn’t know where else to look. Dean follows his lead and then — shit — there’s his face again.
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
It’s loud in his ears now, and he pushes every last doubt to the back of his mind as he turns to face Cas. He asks what he needs to with a tilt of his head, and Cas replies with a nod, and then Dean’s reaching for the collar of his trenchcoat and pulling him forward, and he’s finally kissing him the way he’s wanted to for months. For years, really.
Cas’s hands come to cup Dean’s face, and the crowd is going crazy, reminding the two of them that they are, in fact, being watched by thousands of people. Millions, probably, if the people watching at home count. And the best part of it all is that Dean doesn’t care. He doesn’t care who’s watching, because he’s kissing the man he loves and Cas’s lips are soft and Dean’s nerves are gone and everything feels right.
They don’t stay for the seventh inning.

Not So Apple Pie Life
Chapter 2
Ao3
As Dean parked the Impala in front of the house, I look at the property and get out. Dean and Sam get out of the car and walk towards the door.
“The family know we’re coming?” I ask
“Yeah, they’re family friends of Bobby’s,” Sam says. I miss uncle Bobby, he took care of the three of us when dad was on his hunting trips.
Flashback
“Deano, Sammy, Noah dinner time,” Uncle Bobby says. The three of us run from upstairs and take our seats at the table. Dean is 10, I am 8 and Sammy is 6 at this time. Dad was currently on day five of a job and hasn’t been home yet.
“Smells good uncle Bobby,” Dean says
“It better be good because it’s the only food you three are getting,” Bobby says. The three of us laugh and dig into chicken and pasta.
“When is dad coming back?” Sam asks
“When the job is done Sammy, you know that,” Dean says
“But he’s been gone for so long Dean,” Sam says
“Sure he will be here in a few more days,” I say and Sam nods. Dean gives me a sad look, knowing it’ll probably be another week since dad picks up jobs after a hunt is done. I give him a sad smile and continue eating my food.
End of flashback
“Earth to Noah,” Dean says, waving a hand over my face. I snap out of my daze and grab my bag from the backseat. I walk up to the house behind my brothers and look at my phone. Seeing texts from the guys.
Jolly: dude where did you go? Nich: we’re getting food, where are you?
Nick: we’re leaving in five minutes.
I text them back to not wait for me and that I’m getting food on my own. I walk a little ways after Sam and Dean. I look around the place and see that this family looks so happy. Wonder who could be haunting them.
“So who’s haunting this house?” I ask
“Her name is Delilah Walker, died a violent death two decades ago,” Sam says
“Why is she haunting here?” I ask
“She used to live here,” Dean says in a ‘matter-of-fact’ tone. I roll my eyes and head upstairs, grabbing my emf meter from my bag,
“You keep all your old hunting stuff?” Sam asks, rather surprised.
“Some of it yes, hard to keep this stuff hidden with the roommates,” I say and he nods.
“Check upstairs before we head to the cemetery,” Dean says. I mentally roll my eyes, same old Dean giving out orders. I head upstairs to see if anything is out of place, finding nothing really. I walk back downstairs and see the two of them already outside. I walk outside, closing the door behind me. I walk back to the Impala but something tells me to look up, when I do, I see the silhouette of a woman possibly in her thirties with long, chestnut hair. She is looking directly at me and I feel the chills creep up my spine.
“Noah let’s go,” Sam says and I walk over to them, getting into the car. We wait until nightfall to head to the local cemetery since Sam found her burial site yesterday. Sam grabs the shovels and Dean grabs the salt and gasoline. I follow them as they walk to the headstone.
“So first sold out tour huh?” Dean asks, walking.
“Yeah, our latest album really grew popular thanks to an app called TikTok,” I say
“You make good music,” Sam says and I look at him, shocked that he even listens to the music.
“Wait you listen to my band?” I ask, still in shock. Sam, Mr. book nerd, listens to metal???
“We both do,” Dean says, getting to the headstone.
“Didn’t expect you both to,” I say, still in shock.
“You’re our brother Noah, of course we do,” Sam says and I nod.
“Well Mr. Rock Star start digging with Sammy,” Dean says and Sam throws me a shovel. I catch it easily and put my bag down. I start digging with Sam and man I’m winded already. I need to get in better shape, my god. The cool fall air of Georgia hits my skin and I shiver slightly. We finally hit the casket and we open it. Dean helps Sam and I out of the grave and douches the bones with oli and salt.
“Do the honors Noah,” Dean says, handing me the matches. I light them, the heat from the matches hitting my skin as I toss the three lit ones into the casket. This part of hunting always was relieving, when the job was done and we could move on.
“Will you ever go back into hunting?” Dean asks and I shake my head.
“As I said Dean, this band is my life now,” I say as we watch the body burn.
