born in puerto vallarta mexico, imani was set up for the simple life. her family owned house right on the beach where her mother, father, and grandparents all lived. she was the first born and with that came spoils beyond anything she could imagine. her parents had always dreamed of having a big family, living out their weekends having breakfast in their garden, lunch on the beach, and dinner at the dining table with every seat filled. but when they learned imani was deaf, they initially reconsidered. but went on to have 3 more kids two boys and another girl and while they had their own ailments, imani was the only one who was completely deaf.

she was two years old when her family learned that she couldn’t hear them, and that they’d not only have to learn a new language but look into new ways to parent too. the community they lived in was small, there wasn’t a lot of resources for her, and while her family tried to push through the hardships they felt that imani’s education and overall social environment were suffering more than it needed to and began to save to move to new york. they arrived when imani was 14 years old, and though they’d saved up for at least five years before the move; it still took quite a hit to their finances. both her father and her mother picked up second jobs so that they could keep up with living expenses and also continue to purchase aids for imani like vibrating alarm clocks, asl classes for the family ( since they had learned lsm in mexico and it was the language she was most comfortable in ), and trying to save up for cochlear implants.

this meant that imani spent a lot of time on her own. her siblings didn’t mind translating for her when they were out running around with the local neighborhood kids, but she wanted people to communicate with her directly instead of going through her siblings. since she lived around the corner from a comic bookstore, her father made fast friends with the owner and asked if she could spend time there after school so she wouldn’t be in the house alone. it wasn’t long before she was losing herself in all the comics in the store. she was always disappointed when her father came to pick her up or the store had to close for the evening. she swore she read every comic in that store throughout her high school career more than three times and would do it even more if given the chance.

she grew very fond of the owner and his children. they would give her recs, and always meet her with a new word, phrase, or sentence they learned in asl. they’d read comics together at timed intervals and write each other notes and doodles about what they were currently thinking about what they were reading and where they thought it would go. it was through those reading sessions that imani and the owner’s oldest child decided that they should work on a comic series together.

and any time outside of their asl classes and school in general would be spent trying to craft the perfect superhero stories; one shots, spinoffs, volume long series; they tried it all. and imani had a great outlet for getting everything she was feeling out onto the page. while the comic that she’d started with the owner’s oldest child never took off or got published, it did help her get her foot in the door at marvel comics.

she was 23 years old when their comic finally made it to the desk of an editor, and while they didn’t want that specific story, they could see that she had a vision and plenty of stories to tell. they recently introduced echo, one of their first deaf characters, and wanted her to sign onto the team which she agreed to happily.

she was able to pay the 50k for her cochlear implant and surprised her family with it that same year at christmas. despite the implant, she continued to prefer signing along with her speech and asking others to do the same. she never lost her day dreaming or her doodling, and traveled the world but always longed to be back by the beach. despite her love of comics and all the work she's grateful enough to do, ecology had always been a strong love of hers. she's a plant fanatic and chile is own to some of her favorite plants so when she decided to settle down and open up her own plant shop, opening one in chile made the most sense. she never expected to fall in love as much as she did, but nearly twenty years in the city? it was safe to say she had no plans on leaving.

Just had an absolutely batsh insane dream

I woke up laughing lmao

Everyone is PISSED so he starts getting all like “oh cry me a River and piss in it 🙄” so I’m all like okay rude and continue on.

It stops raining and I swear I literally blink and we’re all in this line, I see my friend (let’s call her watermelon I’m not disclosing any info sorry babes 💓)and I’m like oh “hey you here too” and she’s like “yeah lol “

Al igual que con Todd, Ashley y Serena no tienen una amistad muy cercana, sin embargo, Serena recurre a ella cada vez que necesita algún consejo en "temas de chicas" o simplemente alguna opinión alocada de un tema. A Serena realmente le gusta la personalidad segura de Ash, y para Ash, Serena es como una pequeña niña que hay que cuidar, por lo que disfruta ayudándola cuando puede.

Durante sus años de preparatoria Travis y Serena tuvieron una dinámica extraña, a pesar de su constante bullying hacia Sal Fisher, Travis no parecía interesado- o más bien, evitaba a toda costa -hacer cualquier chiste o burla hacia Serena. Ella pensaba que era por que en el fondo Travis tenía un límite, y se sentía demasiado mal como para burlarse de una chica ciega. A pesar de ésto, y de todos los insultos y chistes contra Sal, Serena nunca le tuvo odio a rencor a Travis, ya que durante una conversación se enteró de la dinámica de maltrato que éste sostenía con su padre. Ésto no sólo conmovió a Serena, si no que también la llevó a tenerle empatía a Travis, intentando acercarse a él en varias ocasiones que nunca dieron buenos resultados.

Después de la conversación que tuvo Sal con Travis, Serena pudo acercarse más a él y, eventualmente, se hacen algo cercanos hasta el día en el que deciden huir de sus casas con ayuda de Nina. Al estar viviendo todos juntos Travis eventualmente se va ablandando y llega a tener una buena amistad con toda la banda en general. Serena se muestra muy cariñosa y amable con él, además de apoyarlo en cualquier cosa como es debido. Los dos llegan a sostener una amistad bastante agradable y, sobre todo, de ayuda mutua.

Al conocerlo, Serena sintió una gran atracción hacia Sal, en el sentido en el que le parecía una persona bastante interesante y peculiar. Para Serena era la primera vez que conocía a alguna persona tan única, por lo que empezó a esfozarse para acercárse a él y conocerlo mejor. A medida que fueron relacionándose más, y saliendo más a menudo, Serena rápidamente empezó a enamorarse de él, sobre todo gracias a su personalidad tan cercana y empática. Debido a la gran timidez de ambos, ninguno estaba realmente seguro de lo que sentía el otro, así que empezaron a relacionarse románticamente en la sombra, sin que nadie se enterase, hasta que el punto de inflexión llegó y ambos se hicieron pareja oficialmente (A pesar de que llevaban haciendo "cosas románticas" desde hace un par de años).

Serena y Sal han compartido con el otro cosas que nadie más sabe, cosas de sus pasados y sus sentimientos, han intentado ayudarse en todas las formas posibles y han pasado una cantidad incontable de horas juntos. Serena no ha sentido éste vínculo con nadie en su vida, y siente miedo de que Sal la pueda dejar, por lo tanto, ella siempre intenta mantenerlo contento y hacer su vida más amena, además, brindándole su apoyo con el tema de los fantasmas. En el fondo, intenta ser su soporte emocional cada que puede, dándole todo su amor. Es la primera vez que se siente tan enamorada de alguien, y desea poder quedarse con Sal por siempre.
