Note
not sure if the character ask meme is still open but markus/black samson pls :3
Hi soryy for not seeing this i've been really busy with work but here we go!
B- Do they have any allergies?
Probably! I'd say he'd probably have something along the lines of a latex allergy (which would just SUCK if he needed first aid on a mission) or probably an allergy to pollen or something like that.
Ooh wait... hear me out: cinnamon. He doesn't like admitting it to anyone cause it's embarrassing for one of the most famous superheroes in the world to tell anyone his throat closes up from cinnamon of all things, and let's face it, Rex would definitely make fun of him for it (btw I got this idea because I watched that old Dwayne Johnson movie Game Plan last night and there's a scene with cinnamon in that)
L- What is their favourite board game?
My first instinct here was to say something like chess cause a) he's like 40 at the least, and b) he literally has a mansion in the comics (which makes me wonder why that hasn't been bought up in the show yet), but I kinda think he'd be more of a checkers man. I mean, a lot of his later appearances in the comics have him trying to help his community, so I imagine he might have learned from playing against the elders.
A- What are/were this character's best subject in school?
I kinda imagine he'd be good at a lot of subjects in school (he strikes me as an overachiever what can I say), but if I had to narrow it down to a couple of them, I'd say PE, English and Math.
C- Can they swim well?
I doubt in his probably 20-something years or less of being a superhero, that he wouldn't be able to. Unless he grew up somewhere without any local swimming pools or bodies of water, cause then I could imagine he doesn't learn until later. But yeah, he's probably a really good swimmer.
K- How do you know when you've upset them?
Oh, that's easy. He does that low mad voice thing that he does in the show when Rex makes fun of him (you know, 'I'm gonna assume that was a joke and I don't need to beat your ass until all you wanna do is call me dad again')
S- How stealthy are they?
I mean... canonically he's probably at least a little bit stealthy but come on. This man is a giant and has the same physique as Superman, he is the polar opposite of stealthy.
A- Already answered!
M- What is their favourite dessert?
For the purpose of continuing an inside joke with a mutual, I’d say baklava, specifically the pistachio kind.
In all seriousness though, I imagine he’s not the biggest fan of desserts in general, but he might have a secret sweet tooth for... i’ll say blueberry muffins. I think it’d be fuuny if he kept sneaking blueberry muffins from the GDA cafeteria.
S- Already answered!
O- What would it take to break them, inside and out?
First of all, and I feel this would be the norm for a lot of superheroes, Samson has a great amount of willpower that would make him difficult to break mentally. While he isn’t the strongest hero out there physically, he’s definitely up there with the likes of the Immortal. If you were trying to break him, it would take a lot of time, and probably involve targeting just about everyone he loves, and even then, you’re more likely to make him mad than sad. My advice? Try one of the other Guardians.
N- What do they usually eat for breakfast?
Do you think they got good cereal in GDA headquarters? I feel like they spent all the budget on teleporters and sci-fi body armour and didnt have enough for some Lucky Charms. Cause if he’s in the HQ, then his options go down to corn flakes or porridge. But if he’s in his mansion, then he probably gets some fancy eggs cooked by Sandford every morning.

Chongyun comes home less and less these days. Well, 'home', if it can still be called that. It's still their family, still their original abode, even though Chongyun doesn't much care for returning here. Must be some new emotion that comes with their new status.
Still, Chongyun's returning here, though not for the last time, but for the last time in a long time. Mostly, they want to focus on their newfound duties, and they've been putting off this particular conversation long enough.
Pushing the door open, Chongyun isn't surprised to find both his parents seated next to each other. His father, naturally, has his nose in a book, while his mother is painting wooden talismans. Neither are talking to each other, but his mother is humming some old lullaby that reminds Chongyun of his childhood.
Neither glance up when Chongyun appears before them.
"I have something I need to speak with you about." Chongyun almost wishes Xiao were here.
"Of course you do." Lingyun, Chongyun's father, merely shakes his head once before flipping a page. "Unless it pertains to your duties and-or why you've been coming home less and less, you should pass the message forth to our secretary."
Chongyun bites back the irritation. It's typical of their father to behave so standoffishly, even to dismiss Chongyun when there is no otherwise reason to. Chongyun had accepted it during their childhood when they didn't know better, but they're an adult now. Something more than just the clan's heir -- if even that.
"It's important for both of you to know directly," Chongyun says, gripping his vision.
"Don't mind your father sweetheart." Jiao glances up and smiles. "He means well, we always do. You just need to understand that without you here, we're behind on duties to the people of Liyue. I can't imagine the constant travel is good for you. I hope you're sticking within the borders."
"I've changed."
Chongyun hadn't meant to blurt that out so suddenly, but the words hang in the air, and both parents are now staring at him. Mother, with a furrowed brow and expression of concern, and father, with lips pressed together in a thin line of 'explain yourself' etched on his face.
"You aren't allowed to-"
"No no!" Chongyun lifts their hands, shaking their head as they frantlcally wave off their father. "It's not like that. I haven't quit, I just. Became someone else. Something else."
"Whatever do you mean?" Jiao sets the paintbrush and talisman down, now giving Chongyun her full attention. "There is nothing more important than the work we do. You've trained for this your entire life."
This conversation is going to keep going in circles if Chongyun doesn't just spit it out.
"It's about Rex Lapis, and our Lord Xiao."
"Well, for one, I am most pleased that Xiao has taken you under his wing," Lingyun says, now wearing a smile. "No one can give you better training or more discipline than the adeptus. You'll make a fine exorcist yet. Shame we still can't figure out how to manage your yang energy properly." Lingyun seems to have skipped right over the mention of Rex, which Chongyun finds a bit odd.
"Rex is alive."
Chongyun isn't sure what reaction he'd been hoping for. Shock? Surprise? Or even anger, really, at such a blasphemous statement. From anyone else, it probably would be, sounding too much like some tall tale from the gullible.
Instead, Chongyun's parents glance at each other with a knowing look, before focusing on their child again. "We know," Jiao says. "The adeptus wouldn't dare show themselves in Liyue Harbor were he truly gone. There have been too many coincidences around the harbor for us to ignore it. Naturally, we investigated."
"There's more though."
"One does not simply seek out our Geo Lord," Lingyun says, voice a little too harsh now. "Have you forgotten all your training? Just because you want to meet him doesn't mean you can hound him. He's an archon. You're not to interefere with whatever he and the adepti are doing."
"I've already met him." Chongyun rocks back and forth on their feet awkwardly, wishing they could go hide somewhere. Their own realm would be a nice place.
"I mean." Chongyun licks their lips before blurting out the rest of the words in a rush. "I've been personally training under Xiao and Rex sort of. Adopted me-"
"-Excuse me?" Jiao's brows are furrowed again, this time in clear irritation.
"-and gave me the adeptus trials-"
At that, Lingyun jumps to his feet, hands clenched in fists. "Irresponsible!" He snaps. "You're not ready! Your job is to stay human and remain heir to this clan! I forbid anything else!"
Chongyun bows his head, feeling guilt. He loves his parents, and he knows they mean well. They wouldn't have pushed so hard if they didn't care; they've allowed him so much freedom and room for growth, providing any funds necessary for whatever he wanted to accomplish.
But... this is a far different situation now. Wordlessly, Chongyun pries off the talismans and adeptal ropes keeping his beast form hidden. Fox features replace the humanoid features he'd kept, with fangs growing in his mouth, fox ears appearing atop his head, and a tail protruding from his backside.
"It already happened," Chongyun says quietly. "I've been an adepti for months now, and the reasons I haven't been home as much is because I was gifted with my own realm in Jueyun Karst. I can't...I can't be heir to the clan anymore, not when I have a greater job."
"You-" Lingyun collapses back into his seat, too shocked to remain standing. "You...you took the trials? And passed?"
"Yes." Chongyun closes his eyes to avoid seeing the heartbreak on his mother's face. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner."
"But...what does that mean for us?" Jiao's voice was trembling. Chongyun could feel her tugging at their arm now, so Chongyun lets her. She's tracing her fingers along the tail, and Chongyun can hear choked gasping from her; it's clear she's trying not to cry.
"Were we not enough?" Lingyun asks quietly. "Did we not provide you with everything you could ever want? Was this-" He too, cuts himself off with a choked gasp.
Chongyun opens their eyes then. "This is was I was born for," they whisper. "To become someone great. You're still my family, and I'm still part of this clan. I love you both dearly. Just understand, that this was also a blessing given by our Lord."
"What does this mean though?" Jiao's still inspecting his tail, which has Chongyun trying to flick her hand away. It's a strange feeling and Chongyun isn't entirely sure he likes the sensation right now. "Are you still our son?"
"I'm always going to be your son. I just can't be heir. Not when I have a new set of duties to attend to."
Lingyun waves those words off. Chongyun still can't make eye contact; seeing his father cry will make him cry. "You still have duties here, my boy. We give you freedom to do your own thing, we give you mora, we provide your weapons, your training, your food. We've painstakingly sewn talismans and charms into your clothing, all this so you could eventually carry out and continue Clan Tian."
Lingyun sucks in a shaky breath. "You may be adeptus now, but you are our son first and foremost. You do not get to leave us, not until we're old and need you to care for us. And you will care for us, as we have cared for you."
Chongyun's bottom lip quivers then. He hadn't realized how much this would affect even him until now. He doesn't move from his spot. "I'm sorry. I should have told you sooner."
"Then I suppose you'll just have to arrange a meeting with Lord Morax then," Jiao says, dabbing at her face with a handkerchief. "We should have been consulted first, but the deed is already done. We just want to know how you're fairing now. That isn't an unreasonable reequest, I hope."
"Not at all." Chongyun slouches forward, feeling some measure of relief. "I would be happy to inform him of your request."
"You stay here tonight," Lingyun orders. "I would like to spend time with my son and wife, with no interruptions."
Chongyun nods. "I...I can do that tonight."
"Good." Linyun nods, rubbing at his face. "We'll worry about everything else later. Tonight, we are a family." The matter is settled, and Lingyun picks up his book again, flipping over another page. Family time means being in the same room, focused on their own areas of study and expertise but Chongyun can manage that. They're not like other families.
It's what they do best, after all.

Where have ya been, bro?
Tumblr media
“I’ve been...busy, I guess,” he replied, not exactly wanting to let his emotions show, “things have been overrun at my job, though it’s not like me to go this long without saying anything.” He wasn’t technically lying, which was reassuring enough without telling the other Rex about his real problems with burnout and perfectionism. “Communication isn’t always my strong suit.”

How Genshin Impact characters would react to someone flirting with you || (Liyue)
Hello everyone! I apologize for the wait but I finally finished the Liyue version ٩( ᐛ )و I was originally supposed to divide it into 2 parts but then I decided against it ( ͡°³ ͡°). Part 3 will probably be uploaded in 3 days. But in the meantime, enjouy reading! o(〃^▽^〃)o
-E <3
Tumblr media
Zhongli ❌💸
Tumblr media
How he'd react to someone flirting with you really just depends on his mood
He doesn't really interfere because he knows you can handle it yourself
You two have had the person flirting with you pay or discount something you both bought on more than one occasion and he's not even ashamed of it
"Ah, my lady. Your beauty is simply etheral."
The shop owner said as you examined the jade.
You looked up from the Noctilucous Jade and met Zhongli's eyes. Completely ignoring the owner.
Zhongli's put the Jade onto the table and reached into his pouch for Mora.
Though, once he opened it; he grimaced. Once you saw his expression you realized that neither of you had enough Mora to pay for the Jade.
You cringed as you saw the amount of Mora in the pouch and looked back at the shop owner to apologize.
That was, before an idea clicked into your mind.
You then berought forth the most charming and flirtatious face you could muster and smiled at the shop owner.
"My deepest apologies Sir, but I don't think we'll be able to buy from you today. " You sighed.
The owner widened his eyes at your statement and quickly replied with
"Oh no, it's fine your can just pay any amount you have now and come back to pay for the rest! "
"Thank you so much Sir, I am forever in your debt for this. " You said as you grabbed his hands.
The owner was completely smothered by now, he had completely forgotten Zhongli's presence and was looking at you with completely entranced eyes.
If it wasn't for Zhongli's years of experience in concealing his expressions, he would probably be laughing out loud by now.
"That was quite the show my dear, I doubt that he would have noticed anything even if we had robbed his whole stall. "
Beidou 🏴‍☠️♀️
Tumblr media
Just like with Kaeya, no one would really flirt with you since they know about your relationship with the captain of The Crux unless they're clueless
And Beidou being Beidou, would not take shit from anyone. Clueless or not
If the other person is being persistent, she doesn't really mind throwing hands
"It's a shame that you have a lover, otherwise i'd have made you mine by now. " The creep said as he grabbed both of your hands.
You leaned backwards, trying to get away from the man. You desperately scanned the area for anyone who would help you.
You then met Beido's eyes with a look that clearly read "please help me".
Once she saw you, Beido walked over and tapped the man on the shoulder.
"She's mine, now let her go." She said as she glared at the man who was holding onto your hands.
"And if I don't?"
The person didn't even register anything before Beido's fist collided with his jaw.
"I ain't scared of fines, I'll fight whoever disrespects my partner"
Xiao 🔪👺
Tumblr media
Doesn't really care if the other person is flirting with you or not
If it gets to the point of harassment he will give them a whack with his polearm
He looks like he doesn't care about you but that's just because he knows who you're going back home with
"Would you like to accompany me on my travels, my fair lady? " The traveler said as he loaded his belongings onto his cart.
"I'd have to decline the offer. I already have a lover I am devoted to. " You said with a smile as you passed him the packed food you had bought from the inn.
Xiao watched you two from the distance, he sat on the balcony if the Inn as he waited for you to bid him farewell on his missions as well.
"Were you watching me? " You said you peek at him from behind.
"I was simply making sure he was not a dangerous individual. " Xiao replied, stotic as usual.
"Are you here to bid me goodbye?" He asked as he gazed at you.
"Goodbye? Oh no, I'm going with you! "
"Even though you are hundreds of years old does not mean you are invincible. Therefore, you should refrain from fighting recklessly. "
Xingqiu ⚔📚
Tumblr media
He usually just tells the person bothering you to back off, politely. Of course
Though, he doesn't really mind if the other person is rude or persistent; it's just an excuse for him to have a little 'fun' behind the scenes
If they're rude, they'll most likely find themselves having a number of minor inconveniences
"Sir, please let go of my partner." Xingqiu confronted the creep.
You quickly ran to his side. Not wanting to be near the man for a millisecond longer.
"And what's the pretty boy going to do to me?" He jabbed at the blue haired boy.
Although he was slightly irritated. Xingqiu paid no mind to him and walked you back to your house.
"Y/n do you recall the creep from yesterday afternoon? Yes, I received a notice that he is trying to buy brass for his stall. I convinced every merchant selling fish in Liyue to not sell him any, I also bought some brass. Would you like some? "
Chongyun ❄🍦
Tumblr media
He doesn't really like confronting people so he'd just make up an excuse to take you away from them
If the other person decides to be start an argument, he'd try to keep his cool. Not wanting to go into the manic state he usually gets into once his body overheats
Sadly, on more than one occasion; he has lost his cool and completely and ends up causing chaos to anyone who's unfortunate enough to be nearby
It's been at least a solid 15 minutes since the guy sitting next to you have been pestering you about going with him to the Lantern Rite festival.
And for what felt like the 30th time, you declined.
You really wanted this person gone before you meet up with Chongyun but he kept following you so you just plopped down somewhere on the stone ground.
Unfortunately for you, the other person did not take the cue for him to leave but instead; had taken it as an invitation to sit down and talk with you instead.
At some point, you considered kicking him in the face but refrainwd from doing so. But now, you're regretting that decision.
"Y/n! Me and Xingqiu were looking all over for you. " Chongyun said as he ran over to you two.
The guy looked surprised as the two boys walked over you where you were sitting.
"Who are these people? " He said. As if they were the ones invading into someone's personal space.
Chongyun instantly realised the situation and whispered something to Xingqiu. He then gave you the hand signal for "Run for it" And pointed to behind him.
Almost in a flash, all of you three started sprinting away, leaving behind a very confused person.
"Thank Rex Lapis we didn't actually get into a fight this time"
Hu Tao 👻🔥
Tumblr media
Whenever she sees someone flirting with you, she'd ask them about their health
She'd then weird them out by introducing her as the 77th director of Wangsheng funeral parlour
The person flirting with you would probably be very uncomfortable at this point and leave, but if they don't Hu Tao would hand then one of her buy 1 get 1 funeral coupons
"I simply cannot resist your beauty. " The man said as he leaned in closer to your face.
"Hello there good Sir! How is your health? " Hu Tao asked as she appeared seemingly out of nowhere and before you.
The man seemed confused at her question.
"Pardon? " He asked.
"Ah, I have forgotten that I have yet to introduce myself. Please call me Hu Tao. 77th director of the Wangsheng funeral parlour! " She introduced herself and took out her hand for him to shake.
He seemed a bit uncomfortable at the mention of funerals but nevertheless he ignored Hu Tao and went back to your conversation.
"What do you say to dinner at Wanmin Restaurant? " He pressed on, flat out ignoring Hu Tao's whole existence all together.
"Here's a coupon, it's buy one funeral, get one free. I hope I'll see you soon! " She said as she dragged you away. Leaving behind a very disturbed man.
"I should've said 'I hope to see you again businesses-wise. ' "

Paper Love
Cody x Obi-Wan
Rated: G - 2k
Tags: none, other than light fluff/romance and brief mentions of the war
Summary: when Cody loses track of time, he turns to some of the 212th for help
This is my fic for @umami-ty as part of the @starwarsfandomfests! 💕 Thank you to @lilhawkeye3 for hosting this event, you poured so much love into it, along with @zinzinina for giving me some great advice.
Tumblr media
He's up to his buy'ce in datawork - each time he's waded his way through one report, two appear before he's done signing off. The current one is long and laborious, Cody doesn't even hear the chime of his office door sliding open, his eyes only lift when his vod moves into his direct line of vision.
"Late night?" It's Rex, an insulated cup in each hand, his own helmet tucked casually under an arm.
He accepts the cup, blinking for what feels like the first time in hours as he gulps down a mouthful, feeling the hot sugary caf hit his tongue. It’s a relief, he notices now how his head throbs, how his mouth feels gritty and dry.
"Always." Cody sighs, setting the considerably-lighter cup down on a coaster, passing a weary hand over his eyes, "Thank you."
The desk creaks as Rex leans on it, making himself comfortable as he raises his own cup to his lips, his other hand scratching idly over a short-shorn scalp.
"What are you doing here so late?" Cody asks him, his eyes drifting back towards the datapad, before he resolutely sets it down on his desk. He doesn't see Rex as often as he'd like, the reports can wait for a moment - not too long, mind you, but surely a minute or two couldn't hurt.
Rex's eyebrows raise in disbelief, "I've been helping the General. Ahsoka and I have been running errands all day. Figured you'd be busy, too."
"Why?" Cody can't keep the edge out of his voice, wondering what he's missing. He's been over all the urgent reports, nothing stood out that should have Rex on the alert like this, much less him.
"You know." Rex's voice lowers conspiratorially, though they are the only two in the room, "Valentine's Day, it's this weekend."
Cody goes still, the chatter in his mind going silent for a long moment.
"You've been planning something, right? That's why you're staying late, too?" Rex's head tilts, the space between his eyebrows creasing in concern.
"Of course." He answers automatically, and Rex's eyes narrow.
"You forgot, didn't you." It's not a question, amusement sparking in his vod's eyes.
Cody can't keep the big-brother condescension out of his voice.
"No, Rex. I've got it all sorted out. And no, I don't need any help."
———
"I need help."
Twin footsteps pause, Waxer and Boil carefully turning to look at Cody from over their shoulders. There’s lines of concern quickly starting to crease their features, so he quickly amends.
“Off-duty business, boys.”
This doesn’t do anything to change their expressions - in fact, they look even more alarmed - exchanging a quick look at each other before they cover the distance between them.
Cody knows he has to get it over with - he’s never been one to ask for help, had always had it together. Years of training and service had made him prepared for just about anything, but he suddenly found himself in new territory. He sucks in a breath, a slight hesitation before he asks.
“Do you know what this weekend is?”
They don’t blink.
“Valentine’s Day.” Boil answers immediately, and Cody’s eyes close.
“Exactly.” He says through clenched teeth, “And I, well… I don’t have anything. Uh, planned. Can you help me?”
When he opens his eyes again, he’s eternally grateful - there’s no judgment, just the look of two men silently thinking. But then they’re talking at once, an overlap of hurried voices.
“Wooley’s batchmate can bake anything out of ration bars, we could ask-“
“Gregor always has good ideas-“
“Do you have any credits? Because-“
But then he’s hushing them as another squad enters the narrow hallway, the three of them going silent and making room for them to pass.
After a long moment, after listening as the footsteps fade, they turn back to Cody.
“Let’s meet back at your office in an hour with ideas.” Waxer offers, “We’ll get some stuff together.”
Cody sighs in relief. He’s never been more grateful for his vode.
———
Cody’s waiting for them, already deep into another article on love declarations and traditions from across the galaxy. There’s a pad of flimsi with phrases scratched out - he had not been prepared for the rabbit-hole of customs as he worked his way through the romantic traditions of Coruscant all the way to Kashyyyk.
He hadn’t meant to forget. He’s never forgets anything, but this had all been a bit of a whirl-wind, and he’s never needed to remember a civvie holiday like this before.
Of course he knew about Valentine's Day, he wasn’t a shiny, but with the war and the responsibilities of being a Commander, he had lost track of what day it was. Each one seemed to blur into the next with a new crisis or issue that he jumped headfirst into.
What could he get the man that seemed so content - that had everything he could ask for? The life of a Jedi did not leave room for useless trinkets, not that Cody wanted to give him something like that.
He did not need for clothes, each robe perfectly tailored. Cody had spent some time browsing local restaurants only to close them in frustration when seeing the credits for each meal. If they all pooled together, then maybe - but he would never ask that.
But Obi-Wan was romantic, and always had been. To come up with nothing for such an important event, well - Cody did not want to think about that.
He only hoped his vode had faired better than he had.
There’s a rap at the door, and it opens before he can get up, Waxer and Boil at the door, squeezing through together with datapads in their hands.
“We tried to brainstorm, we each came up with an idea. I think mine’s better, to be honest.” Boil digs an elbow into Waxer’s ribs, his armor making the gesture useless.
“Anyways, he loves reading right? He’s always in the Jedi Archives.”
Cody nods along - Obi-Wan was an avid reader, and he’s seen the piles ranging from solid books to data tapes to even scrolls stacked on the narrow desk in his room.
“So maybe you could get him a book? Do you know what he likes to read?”
The hopeful flutter in his chest crashes down to his stomach.
“No, I uh-, don’t.” He confesses, “Only Jedi are allowed in the archive, and I haven’t gotten a good look at the titles he checks out. We’re usually too busy.”
He doesn’t miss their smirk, but he resolutely chooses to ignore it. There’s a beat of silence as they all think, before Boil claps Waxer on his pauldron.
“Well, it’s a good thought vod, but-“
“Why not just go traditional? Out of everyone, the General would appreciate that.” A fourth voice chimes in, the three of them looking up from Cody’s desk in surprise.
It’s Gregor, his arms laden with a box, bits of flimsi poking out of the top. Boil looks relieved, the same expression he used to wear when they were younger, when their cadet classes would end before he had to present anything.
“That’s a much better idea. You’re a life-saver.”
Gregor seems to preen for a moment, his smile growing a bit wider as he sets the box down. They huddle to peer inside, there’s several shades of flimsi and office supplies, scissors and tape, glue and glitter.
“Where’d you get this, vod?” Waxer asks, thumb running over the edge of his chin in thought.
“Admins owed me a favor.” He leaves it at that, and Cody is not about to push his luck.
They spread their goods out, carefully stacking the flimsi by color, lining up the scissors. Cody finds himself taking a little bit of everything, turning his chair around to face the window at the back of his office, working on the thin table underneath.
It feels like it should be private, though he’s grateful for them - leaving his brothers to make a mess of his desk and he gets to work.
Now that he’s here, it’s tough to know what to say. He starts slowly, measuring the paper to fold it perfectly in half, fingers pinching and sliding along the edge to make a crease.
There’s already bickering behind him, hushed voices tinged with a good-natured annoyance, paired with the shuffling and cutting of paper. Cody tunes it out as he works, focusing fully on the task at hand.
He has to make it more romantic than just pale flimsi, so he chooses a shade of blush, one that reminds him of Obi-Wan’s lips or the flush of his cheeks - carefully trimming it into a heart to decorate the inside.
Cody’s pen hovers just above the card.
He spends hours writing reports down to the last detail. From interpreting plans to carrying out orders, he’s never been at a loss for words, always knowing deep down what his duty was, for himself and his squad.
Eye slowly drift outside to the bustle of Coruscant, Cody blinks as he looks intentionally for couples, reaching into his own heart instead for the right thing to say.
His pen touches down.
Cyar’ika
A good start, he leaves the name centered on the inside of the card. After a long thought, he carefully continues in Mando’a. It feels right, feels natural to express himself from a piece of him so close to his heart.
Ner kar’ta cuyir gar kar'taylir
Cody leaves it unsigned - somehow that feels right as well. They both would know, and that would be enough.
He glances over his shoulder as the glue dries, his jaw ticking as he sees the state of his desk. The small trash can is overflowing, half-finished cards spilling out.
Waxer and Boil are huddled close, quietly arguing again about the placement of a hand-drawn Tooka, drawn in shades of teal and green.
“Who is that for?” Cody asks, and Boil looks up, Waxer taking that moment to sign his name first.
“We were each making one to send to Numa” - that explains the bickering - “but they both were pretty bad so we decided to make one together.”
Cody bites the inside of his cheek to stop from smiling at their comments, his eyes drifting to where Gregor was tilting his own card, a wave of glitter falling onto a sheet below and leaving the word “dikut” behind, sparkling in the overhead light.
He turns back to examine his own work, the simplicity of it - the edges carefully folded, the piece of creamy paper trimmed in the shape of a heart, pasted carefully inside. Nothing graces the front, everything important lying within.
Now that he’s done, he feels foolish. His penmanship is neat, all of theirs is, but he’s never had time for crafts. The perfectionist in him is clawing under his skin, to go back and trim the edges again.
Maybe he should start over. Or maybe he should give up - just admit that he forgot.
“He’ll love it.” A voice is at his shoulder, and he fights the urge to crush the Valentine in his hand. It’s Gregor, his always-cheerful brother carefully solemn, giving him a short nod of approval.
Gregor never lies, and he never sugar-coats. Cody thinks that maybe he doesn’t feel so foolish after all.

It’s time, and he’s outside the door, knuckles raised to knock but the door is already sliding open. Obi-Wan always knows when it’s him, at first he thought it was just his Jedi Master abilities, but now he thinks maybe he just knows.
Obi-Wan’s smile is easy, the doorway now open enough that Cody can see a small package on the table by the door.
His heart twinges, “Can I come in?”
“I’d be offended if you didn’t,” Obi-Wan gently teases, moving to the side so Cody can step in, the door closing behind him.
It’s only a second later that Cody is pulling out the card he made, carefully pressing it into his lover’s hands.
Obi-Wan’s brow raises, and excuses are stating to tumble from Cody’s mouth. That he’s sorry he couldn’t do more. That he hoped it was enough, that he-
But Obi-Wan isn’t listening, his focus narrowed down to just the gift, the confession written inside. Cody wonders with a sudden drop in his stomach, wonders if he can even read it all of it, but surely, surely he must understand-
Obi-Wan looks up and Cody knows the look in his eyes - his soft expression - because it’s mirrored in his own. It’s tenderness and love, straight from the heart and he feels the anxiety slough away.
“I love this darling, but you didn’t have to get me anything.” Obi-Wan’s smile is tender, a hand sliding down his bicep, as he steps closer, “All I have ever wanted was you.”
He’s leaning forward, and Cody’s eyes are closing - a silent and amused “wait until the boys hear about this” - before all errant thoughts are wiped from his head with a gentle press of warm lips.

[ Genshin Impact Imagines ]
Imagine #1 : Of Bargains and Contracts - That which is the most precious shade of gold
Vago Mundo - Zhongli
Tumblr media
Imagine having doubts about the fairness of your contract with Zhongli.
After a long day of adventuring for one of Zhongli's rare botanical requests (that ofc, you obtained through your own expenses as per your contract- you felt robbed due to that, truly you did, in which universe was it fair to make the adventurer pay for expenses spent on obtaining your requests? However, you do not find yourself complaining -at least not directly to the person involved- any time soon. Not when he so easily smiles so handsomely -so happily- whenever you provide him with what he requested).
His smiles are going to run me dry of mora, I just know it, you tell yourself. One of these days it would and when you'd need to have a weapon refined but is too damned broke for it -or worse, go starving in the midst of one of your many journeys, Paimon would have your ass for it.
Maybe, just maybe, all of those supposed adventurers that Zhongli had once mentioned in one of his more factual tales to have often decided on staying in Liyue was because of him. Maybe he flashed a great many of them his polished smile and gentlemanly attitude and had just gotten them reeled in- hook, line, and sinker.
Putting it that way, he doesn't sound any more than a con-man, Paimon had blatantly stated so the other day,
'A well-mannered one but a con nevertheless! Who even forgets to bring their wallet nowadays, huh, (Y/N)? Think about it!'
And a part of you do consider it, do boil with the thought. That perhaps you were just being used, that maybe The Mysterious Guest of Wangshu Inn was no more than a conniving, sly, inconveniently comely-
To your surprise, you reach your destination, your thoughts quite a distracting orchestra dedicated to the funeral director. Thoughts that made you steel your nerves as you glared at the polished wooden doors that served as an entrance to Zhongli's study, your mind made up to hand a piece of it to the man who resided just beyond.
'Zhongli, I feel as if the contract we have is rather unfair. You cannot honestly expect me to continue on with this without going broke. We need to make amends to make this transactional relationship work. Paimon is already being a pain since they needed to cut off on food, I do not want to imagine how Kaeya would react once he learns that these commissions from you is funded by our joint expenses and with no reimbursement whatsoever.'
Okay, that sounds good, you think. Civil, proper and not watering down the gravity your true monetary concerns. He'd understand, you hope and place your bets on the proper man that you believe him to be. The concept of mora may just be entirely insignificant to him, only too inconveniently that he forgets he'd need those to make purchases and obtain basic necessities in between his more luxurious wants, which you find ironic.
Taking in a deep breath, you turn the knob of the door and pry it open only to be met by a sight that had might as well called dibs on your future funds down to the last mora.
There stood Zhongli, tall and elegant as always but with far lesser clothes than what he usually has on himself. His coat was nowhere to be seen and instead all there was is his cream undershirt and well-tailored trousers- too damned tight, shirt folded to his elbows, untucked, unbuttoned and deshriveled as his tie was. The longer strands of his luscious locks were out of their usual ponytail and instead pooled about his shoulders and down past his waist.
The backs of his thighs were flush against his mahogany office desk as he leaned back on it, body turned away from you as he concentrated on the energy that was quite literally pulsating as it hovered above the palm of his gloved hand.
The very object that casted such a rich and ethereal golden glow inside the darkened room, painting shadows and lights upon his already sculpted face as if oil on pristine canvas. It was a collection of the palettes that defined Liyue- the dawnbreaks mirrored by cor lapis that littered the ground and the sunsets and high noons radiated by the cryptic shrines and towers that stood as mighty pillars and age-old sentries over the entire island.
On his hand, and with eyes that glimmered with utmost concentration, Zhongli holds a manifesting geoculus-
-traces of the geo archon, the memories and legacy of Rex Lapis.
The implication of it all coaxed a sharp breath out of you and it was this that had snapped the man out of his trance-like preoccupation. He turns towards your general vicinity and his amber eyes widens in surprise for a fraction of a second, the entirety of him taking in the appearance of a deer that had just been caught underneath a street light,
"Ah! Traveler, you arrived far sooner than I had expected!" the distinct light rumble of an uncertain laugh colored his words, his elegant brows furrowing ever so slightly at the astounded look that seemed to have taken an enduring residence on your face before a dawning realization occurred to him- the geoculus he held on his hands.
In flagrante delicto.
"Far sooner, indeed." he chuckles, a fond look swimming in his eyes, a look that heated them into molten gold, gold that traveled unto your throat and spread through your chest like rare colored crystalflies, "It seems that the cat is finally out of the bag," he pushes himself off the table after dismissing the completed geoculus with a wave of his hand and takes languid -albeit, almost coy- steps towards you, those amber gems of his relentless on their search for the placement of your emotions regarding the matter at hand, "Tell me, dear traveler, what do you make of it?" his voice was deep, too deep, as if all intentions were drawn from wanting to drown you in every syllable that left his enticingly thin lips.
You gulp, your limbs suddenly at war as to whether it may find solace in seeking purchase on the ground or in running, "Y-you're... You're the geo archon." you stammered as you looked up at the man who now stood but a mere respectable distance in front of you. It was now you who quaked in front of him instead of the ground or a foe as would always whenever he would display his skill in battle or as portrayed in tales whenever a god would make itself known to mortals. Zhongli had no direct hand on your reaction however, it is the least of his intentions as he willed his presence to remain as it had been before- steady and strong, perhaps a bit intimidating but only to those who did wrong and with an enduring grace reminiscent of willow trees.
He hums in thought and bestows upon you a tender shake of the head, "I was meaning to ask about the feasibility of such unorthodox compensation for your troubles," he asks with the faintest hint of qualms.
You stood there in disbelief.
It just occurred to you then that on the course of your little commissions for him, with every flower he asked you to pick from the most perilous peaks there had always been a geoculus time and again- always a mere reach from where you ought to be, always without fail- a piece of his soul, an essence of Liyue, his memories, his very being and he asks you this as if they were worth so little.
You were getting more than you bargained for and here Zhongli was doing as you had done before- not for himself but on your behalf.
"I- your- a geoculus, an oculus, it's a region's very essence, did I get that right?" You ask even though you know that is the gist of it and a nod from Zhongli provides a seal of confirmation. Venti took the time to explain it to you and then some during one of his once-in-a-blue-moon somber days (when he had one too many drinks, and was in an oddly reminiscent mood), "Venti, he also said an oculus is thus a collection of the reigning archon's memories and a part of the whole that makes them. Is that also true?"
Delight brightens up his already pleasant lips, "I see you are well educated, traveler. Perhaps the bard is not as less as his drinking habits tend to make of him."
"Then why must you still ask me if it is worth my troubles? Of course it would be!" you suddenly find yourself indignant much to Zhongli's surprise, "You'd think such a significant part of you is worth so little, you'd have a heartattack once you skirt beyond the high walls blocking your emotional awareness and see just how many people are throwing themselves on your path just for a chance to pick at the crumbs underneath the soles of your boots!"
And then Zhongli's lips part, eyes glittering and pale cheeks paying homage to budding roses and he just stays like that for a couple of seconds and you realize that you may have run your mouth far too much.
You suddenly want to throw yourself off of one of Liyue's many gorges, good luck to anyone who might want to bother with finding your corpse.
Kaeya might just find that oddly amusing, Paimon not much so.
Zhongli clears his throat and holds his hands behind his back, an eyebrow raised in benevolent scrutiny, "Perhaps the bard may have taught you more than I initially expected. That, or you are -quite unexpectedly- a naturally smooth fellow who knows your way with words, traveler."
"Did you just call me a smooth-talker?" you don't know just where exactly this conversation would be leading you both but he's now making his way back to his desk with a sort of almost imperceptible perk on his steps and sway on his hips and you're now certain that you are compensated well above the usual pay grade by this suddenly too evasive, too temptingly slinky geo archon.
"Perhaps," Zhongli chuckles in amusement at your obvious verbal efforts to pin him back, "A flatterer indeed."
So here's a little fanart I did of our broke Geo daddei/archon, Zhongli! Along with a little imagine to spice things up!
I can't emphasize enough the amount of time, energy, positivity and irl mora this event had sucked out of me and I'm still yet to get him. I know my luck sucks at the highest possible level so would y'all be a jolly lot by helping this wee simp out of her depressed gacha dug hell hole and re-blog for a chance to have this penniless connoisseur come home to me pls
I'm desperate, truly.

tell me about your headcanons!!!
I HAVE SO MANY MORE!! this is really exciting
- Rex is so used to being a lone secret agent that when he's found clearly injured or wakes up from being treated for his injuries he's hell bent on getting right up because he worries about not being able to catch the villains and what if they see this happening?? and Marla and Del freak out and are like 'you almost died get back in bed/you gotta come with us right now' and have to assure him that he can't do anything in the state he's in and he's just as human as the rest of them. he's like "I'm fine!!" and then puts weight on a broken leg, or passes out for a bit or one of them point out he's bleeding and so they often have to physically put him back in bed or drag him into Del's truck. he's so used to being this heroic archetype that sometimes he forgets that needs saving and looking after too
- also the reason he won't talk anymore via physical torture?? it may hurt but it doesn't bother him because he's willing to sacrifice his health and even his life to save others, especially since he feels responsible for others who died on his watch, and so psychological torture via hurting or threatening his friends hurts him the most since he cares a lot more about them
- Macready has a soft spot for macaroni cheese, but if you have a death wish, make some puns about "MACaroni and cheese". try him if you dare
- he also has a strange fascination with the books on Bunny Suicides; he has a dark sense of humour and appears to be entertained by comic panels of bunnies finding creative ways to off themselves
- Balthazar Bratt is both lactose intolerant and allergic to strawberries. he doesn't tell anybody this because he considers it weakness and would ruin his image. the reason his bubblegum doesn't make him sick is because that's not natural flavouring (makes sense because 80s and artificial food dye just makes sense to him). also his lactose intolerance doesn't stop him from eating ice cream because "fuck off, you hosers!!" even though it makes him puke afterwards
- Rex's favourite type of music is 80's disco and synth and is a big fan of singers like Billy Joel
- Dave didn't just make a whole persona so he could find a way to create the Medusa serum. it was also to get a way to get attention from humans and he could finally use his skills and intelligence to be able to gain what he lost ages ago, and he knows it's the only way he'd be able to
- Dave leaves the cooking up to his minions for some very good reasons - he once tried to make artificial meat and the less said about that, the better
- people get the impression that Rex is so polite and respectful, that many are often completely shocked when he does swear, and usually a whole string of swear words when he's frustrated, to be absolutely frank. if you want to find out, be around him when something of his breaks or when he's being threatened, or more to the extent, having his friends threatened by his enemies
- Rex is more often than not willing to make sacrifices, even himself, for his friends, and they have to be like 'don't you dare - you are not doing that'. often it saddens and shocks them just how bad his mental health is and how he deals with things every day
- Peter Quill doesn't know how to deal with the fact of what his biological dad did to his mother, his half-siblings, his friends and himself to the point he's more irritable and snappy than usual, less like himself, and when he's alone he cries more than usual too, locking himself in his room and not coming out for a while. he has bursts of anger that he immediately apologises for. sometimes things will break and go on the floor. the others can understand but don't know everything, but they also feel he can't deal with it like this. they try and talk to him about it but he won't open up - at one point, a few of them walk in on him having had a bit too much to drink and he just...opens up about what happened when they weren't there and every single one of them has to have massive self-control finding out even with all the shit Ego did and wanted to do, they weren't aware that he was the reason for his mother's death. Mantis restrains herself because not only does she not want to disturb him, but she realises just how much anger and fear and distress Peter is feeling in that moment
- I also have a headcanon, or more of an AU, that Ego wasn't completely killed and survived somewhat by possessing Peter; his eyes will change colour and any threats against Ego will result in him saying something like "if you kill me, you'll kill Peter. you don't want that to happen, do you now?" fortunately though, he's easily contained, especially when he's around his friends. Ego can possess him better when he's alone, but Peter's mindset is usually strong enough for him to deal with him and he's careful about doing certain things when he's being influenced by him
this is a few more that I wanted to talk about and I hope you enjoy them!!!
