“It’s natural to cry” Barisi

Sonny wasn’t afraid to show his emotions around Rafael. Hell, when those commercials about the animals outside with the ‘IN THE AAAARMS OOOOF AN ANGEL’ song, he would sob. He wanted to help all those poor animals.

When Rafael came home one night in a mood, Sonny worried. Rafael was never this distance from him once he would get home. He usually got a kiss on the cheek or lips but Rafael just went to the bedroom. Sonny stopped what he was cooking for dinner and made his way to the bedroom.

“Rafi?” Sonny asked as Rafael was sitting on the edge of the bed. His face was in his hands and Sonny moved to sit on the bed beside Rafael and rubbed his back softly.

“I got a call from mami. She’s in the hospital. She’s not doing well…” Rafael whispered as he held back tears. Sonny knew he was and gently rubbed his back.

“Hey, hey. It’s okay. If you want-need to cry, go ahead.” Sonny said as Rafael turned to look at him. “It’s natural to cry when you’re upset.” Sonny smiled some as Rafael’s tears in his eyes spilled down his face.

“I can’t lose my mom, Sonny. I just can’t.” Rafael sobbed against Sonny’s chest once he held him close. Sonny held him tightly and frowned.

“It’s going to be okay, Rafi. I promise. How about we make dinner and pack it up to take to the hospital? I bet your mom would love that.” Sonny tried to cheer his husband up. Rafael nodded as he slowly pulled away to wipe his eyes.
