Idk if anyone has ever talked about it before, but in 999, there is this small interaction with Snake in door 5 that i love and, from time to time i think about it, which is the interaction with the vanity.

Snake says something like: "Ah yes. You know, that sort of thing is known as a "vanity". Were you aware of that, Junpei? Of course, "vanity" also refers to self-love, conceit, and narcissism. As such, you could say that every day, when a woman looks into one of these... She is staring at her own conceit and narcissism. Doesn't that strike you as terribly sad?" (I copied from playthrough site)

And i am not quite sure, but i believe that in door 4 that's exactly what Akane does: she sits and stares in front of the mirror, as if preparing herself, her image.

And then funny interaction happens where Junpei wonders why is she doing that as if there is someone in there to impress and she is like "there actually is!" (referring to him, although it's like, her June behaviour).

I have not much to add besides the fact that i like how these scenes happen at the same stage in game and the one you get will depend on your initial choice. I feel like Akane's actions happen on purpose and i would say that even Snake's comment may not be that random idk. It feels like just a random and unimportant thing but it got stuck in my mind.

Also, on next phase, Junpei does not go with any of them through a numbered door if he wants to get one of the important endings (i'm considering safe and true): Snake because, well, he's gone, and he can only go with Akane if he forces to go through door 3, which leads to sub ending
