currently luz only has a handful of glyph combos—invisibility, the sleeping steam spell she did with hunter, the hover spell, and the combos she got from phillip’s journal. i guess she kind of knows phillip’s teleportation glyph? anyway i’m surprised no one has said anything about trying to make a healing glyph? even if luz doesn’t know how to make one, you’d think she’d at least consider looking into it. healing magic is like. one of the basic things plucky fantasy adventurers need and luz is trope savvy enough to know that.

also it fits with her background. her mom is a vet and literally “heals” animals for a living. growing up with a parent like that, luz would have some interest or at least knowledge in medicine that she’d reasonably connect to magic. once she found out she can make glyph combos one of her first thoughts should have been “cool wonder if i can make a healing spell with that since i keep getting myself into danger.” the healing glyph definitely would have come in handy in the most recent episode where hunter almost died lol.

anyway if they never brought it up i dont think they’ll do anything special with healing glyphs. luz can’t discover every glyph combo for every spell in existence within the show. the fact that she’s “only” learned like 7-8 combos in all of season 2 and only discovered like 3 without phillip, shows how hard it is to discover these things. even if luz is considered to be “fast” at learning glyph magic. healing spells are just such an important part of the repertoire in classical fantasy, so i’m surprised that they barely mentioned it in the show.

OH also here’s your work boredom fueled destiny thought of the day: i’m becoming more and frustrated at the idea of calus becoming a big bad because theres absolutely no thematic or narrative weight behind it. calus was a villain that had a strong, interesting thematic message (guardians will forsake their morals for the sake of power) but the introduction of stasis and the way that is handled has made that conversation entirely moot (stasis and beyond light almost explicitly say ‘you can do whatever as long as there’s a big enough enemy on the other side to justify it with’) but now hes just being twisted to be like. ooooo im an emissary of the darkness..so scary...and i dont think its gonna work.

i think calus is an interesting villain!! (although his design is deeply fatphobic and ableist, which just outright sucks). i think his lore is interesting!!! i like the chronicon!!! i love the glykon!!!! i like his connection to caital and if him becoming a villain lets her take more of a spotlight thatd be great i love her!! but i dont think him becoming a villain contributes anything to the story of destiny where it is now, and it seems more like just using him because he happened to be around than anything else .and its weird

honestly so happy with the way the dhmiscared tv show came out in the end. the scraps of the pilot that were around back in 2020 made it seem like it was gonna be garbage but they took it in a completely different direction in the end & its gr8

#the pilot was way too divorced from the web series and WAY too much like stuff weve already seen b4 (like southpark etc.) #the only thing i rlly miss from the pilot is the theme song #but that style of song is best for the opening number of musicals with a large ensemble and since they got rid of the townsfolk #it makes sense to change it #one thing i wish they would have also left behind is all the p*ss jokes #in the series they all fly by so quickly and abruptly that theyre not as annoying as the ones in the pilot but still #its a little uncomfortable to watch and not in a way like the gore is uncomfortable #and i wish there was more body horror and such. i get that they cant go as hard with it since its tv but still :(

is proud to show you off publicly. He’s not one to spoil someone, but sometimes he can’t help but pick up trinkets for you. Sometimes you’d wake up to keychains, jewelry, or even clothes somewhere in your shared room. 

 

He tried so hard to be there for you and protect you from his line of work. Some nights, he wouldn’t come to bed at all to avoid waking you. Some nights, if you worried too much, he would send Dick out in the Batman costume so he could be by your side.

Dick: "It's nice knowing Bruce isn’t constantly brooding about it. Well, I knew that fact already, but this is different. I only see a light in his eyes when he’s doing stuff he absolutely loves. Like when he talks to his parents tombs and we pretend we don’t see him.”

 

Jason: "i think that man would come back from the dead more dramatically than I did for this woman. And I waged like 3 wars.”
