There is an ichor creeping its way through Wonderland, devouring residents never to be seen again. That's how you got your "promotion" to the Role of the Cheshire Cat. You thought things would be okay until an Ink Well appeared right in the middle of the Red Queen's garden and took out half of the court gathered there. Now you're tasked with finding the source of the ichor and stopping it before it consumes all of Wonderland.
The Ink Stained Chessboard is a WIP and interactive CYOA novel. It is a fantasy adventure romance story with heavy focus on plot, romance, and stats. It is inspired by Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. It's being written in Twine.
So by popular vote, this is now my main focus! I'll try to keep it updated as much as possible!

In The Ink Stained Chessboard, you play as a Wonderland resident who's been "promoted" to the position of the Cheshire Cat. You were simply minding your own business one day when you were ripped from your original Role and put into the Role of the Cheshire Cat. You've been in the Role for a little bit now. As for who put you in the role? Wonderland, itself did that. A bit bizarre, but it does have a mind of its own.
Without the interference of an "Alice" figure, life is pretty normal. Odd but normal. It's not always wacky and nonsensical in Wonderland, believe it or not. When an "Alice" appears, Wonderland moves all of its pieces to tell the story again and again like a play. That's how its supposed to work anyways. But ever since this strange ink-like substance appeared the story hasn't been running smoothly like it should.
When an Ink Well appears during a tea party in the Red Queen's garden and consumes half of the court, you decide it's time to do something about this. With a group of pretty unlikely allies, you set off to find what's causing the ichor to appear and stop it.
Play as a male, female, or nonbinary Cheshire Cat
Customize the way you look, including your ears and tail and your cat form! Your normal form is humanoid with cat ears and a tail
Choose what your Role was before Wonderland made you the Cheshire Cat. Your previous Role will give you exclusive abilities not available to other roles
Choose to romance 1 of 5 options or none at all
Figure out what's going on with the ichor and why it's appearing and where do the residents it absorbs go

The Cheshire Cat - You (he/him), (she/her), or (they/them)
You play as the Cheshire Cat. You possess all the typical things associated with the cat, such as disappearing and reappearing and your iconic grin. Your previous Role will also give you specific abilities. Being put in a Main Role made you functionally immortal so you don't know how old you really are, but physically, you appear to be in your mid-twenties (24-26).
The people of Wonderland sometimes call you Chess/Chessie.
Appearance: Player Determined, although your base figure is humanoid with cat ears and a tail
The Alice - Alice/Alex Liddle (she/her) or (he/him)
A is the newest "Alice" to Wonderland. The 103rd "Alice" to be exact. Because of the ichor, their story broke apart pretty early on leaving them basically stranded in Wonderland with no direction. It's good that they're a precocious person and found their own way to the Red Queen's garden. They're a bit naive but are earnest and kind and was one of the first people to volunteer to go with you. Their only stipulation: to go home when it's done.
Appearance: A is on the shorter side of average in terms of height. Alice is 5'3 and Alex is 5'8. They both have fair skin with freckles and loosely curly blonde hair. Alice has long hair while Alex's is about medium-length. Their eyes are light blue and their frame is lithe and thin. They appear to be in their early twenties (20-23).
The Mad Hatter - Olivia/Oliver (she/her) or (he/him)
O is the Mad Hatter. They aren't the "original" Mad Hatter, but they've been in their Role longer than you've been the Cheshire Cat. They are eccentric and a bit unpredictable. That's probably why they were the second person to volunteer to go with you to figure out what's going on, after Alice/Alex. You two don't really get along, bickering often when not in your Roles, so you're surprised when they volunteered. Being a Main Role, like you, they also are functionally immortal, but appear to be in their mid-twenties (24-26), as well.
Appearance: O is pretty tall with Olivia being around 5'9 and Oliver being about 6'1. They both have clear tanned skin and orange-red hair. Their hair is mixed textures with some strands being straight and others wavy. They always keep their hair down, even if it's inconvenient. They have brown eyes and a lanky frame.
The Red Queen/The Queen of Hearts - Isabelle (she/her)
Isabelle is the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts. You find her Role varies from "Alice" to "Alice". She's fairly new to the Role, having acquired her position around the same time you became the Cheshire Cat. She's a bit stiff and serious, trying to figure out where her role stops and where she begins. She, like her predecessors, has a passion for roses and it was her garden that was destroyed by the Ink Well. You aren't surprised when she says she's coming with you "for her rose garden". As a Main Role, she is also functionally immortal. She physically appears to be in her early thirties (30-33).
Appearance: Isabelle is a woman of about average height, standing at 5'5. She has soft brown skin and straight black hair. She has red eyes and a fuller figure.
The Jabberwocky - Fenrir (he/him)
Fenrir is the Jabberwocky. He is the second Jabberwocky ever in Wonderland. His role, like Isabelle's, varies from "Alice" to "Alice". Some "Alices" don't ever go near him while others face him. He's solemn and fairly stoic and serious. He's the last person you expected to volunteer since he prefers to be solitary, although you suspect it's because he just wants to get this over with and go back to minding his own business. As a Main Role, he is functionally immortal, but physically appears in his late twenties (27-29).
Appearance: Fenrir is pretty tall, standing at a wild 6'5. He has tanned olive skin and black hair with streaks/highlights of dull blue and green. His eyes are grey and he has an fit figure, not too muscular but not lanky either. He has a few light scars on his face.
Wonderland - ??? (it/its)
Wonderland is... Wonderland. It has a personality of its own and is the one who moves you and the others around when there's an "Alice". It's in charge of making sure the "Alice's" story runs smoothly and to get them in and out quickly. Due to the ichor appearing, it's no longer running smoothly, often forgetting to move pieces around causing a disruption of the cycle. When the Ink Well appeared in the Red Queen's garden, it seems to have stopped "working" all together.
Appearance: It's a land, so far. Notable chessboard fields?
Mysterious Figure - ??? (they/them)
What's Wonderland without one mysterious figure? After the latest Ink Well in the Red Queen's garden, you've been seeing them around Wonderland. You aren't sure if they're following you or if you're indirectly following them, but you seen them quite often. Even odder, every time you see them, they look confused. How strange...
Appearance: You haven't gotten close enough to fully look at them, but you think they at least have blue hair? Or was it purple? Maybe green or even pink? You swear it was white one time. Their skin is very pale, nearly paper white. They're tall from what you can tell. Probably around 6'2. They're clothed in a long black robe with a hood. It's a bit on the nose, don't you think?

Out of universe:
I just discovered this blog, and I had a question I couldn't find an answer to on the FAQ page. How does this concept compare/differ/relate to SCP?
OOC: Well, I’m definitely inspired by SCP (among other things people have pointed out in the almost 70k notes on the posters post, like Control, Portal, Omega Mart, tumblr user melinoelabs, some others I’m sure I’m not remembering). I’m a fan of SCP, I think a lot of people following me are.
As far as comparisons, there’s definitely a lot of thematic overlap between SCP and OPN, enough that fans of the SCP will probably be fans of this.
That being said, there is no intentional lore/story similarity between SCP and OPN. They are not meant to be in the same universe, and no actual lore characters/features/etc are meant to be in both unless they came from somewhere else first. Aside from very general and basic concepts like “cognitohazards” or “memetics” of course, but I’m sure SCP didn’t really come up with those, just popularized them.
As to how it differs, I can point a few things out from an author’s point of view, so take the following with whatever grains of salt you’re comfortable with.
1) I am, intentionally, building a world that is a little brighter than many settings of the same type. There’s horror and intrigue, absolutely, but there’s fun, and silliness. When brainstorming or sounding-board with my friends and co-writer, I often use the phrase “that’s goofy, but the goofiness is not disqualifying”. I mean, two months ago, an LSD-powered Alice in Wonderland themed AI saved Halloween. There’s a little bit of ambiguity, of course - the intentional clash between the “voice” of Norm who is a fundamentally optimistic person with a bias vs the darker tone of Meghan’s interviews (found in the #interview tag) is something I’m cultivating, but I hope overall it’s clear I’m intending a brighter, less grim dark tone.
2) SCP relies on a lot of wholly original content - SCP-173 did not exist as a concept before it was written, whereas much of my work leans on a basic assumption that every existing myth, legend, or folktale is at least a little bit true. The “kitchen sink” approach. SCP of course does deal with Bigfoot, or fae, or what-have-you, and I have a good chunk of concepts that are wholly original as well. It’s a mostly-true generalization that I do keep to as a design tool. Most of the posters rely on well-known concepts and the ones that don’t can be ascertained from context clues like the etymology of “Ontophage”. This is also a factor in my appreciation of real-world concepts like bureaucracy humor.
Hopefully that answers some questions! Feel free to ask more. I’ll be traveling the next few days so I might be a little quiet, but ooc stuff is a nice change of pace.

Whenever he gave such vague responses, it meant that he wanted me to figure it out myself.
William: Now it’s your turn to get ready to head out.
Kate: But… there’s no need for me to change my clothes, right?
(Even though we’re going out together, I can’t show myself in public…)
William: Won’t you dress up just for me?
His sweet request struck my heart like cupid’s bow.
Kate: … You’re really so good at leaving my heart in shambles.
William: I’m sure you’ll still be beautiful even when you’re ruined.
Will let out a stifled laugh and held out a cute dress in front of me.
Kate: This dress is…?
William: It’s from the Queen’s Aide who has been dying to be the one to take care of you.
William: May I do your hair for you?
Kate: Yes, of course.
William: … Oh, it’s almost night time. We must hurry.

The “fun place” William was referring to turned out to be a modest mansion located in a quiet area.
I was familiar with the place as I had been taken there once.
I recalled Will telling me that this place was a venue for social gatherings, open to people of all social classes. It was referred to as the “Mad Tea Party”, similar to the one in Alice in Wonderland.
(... He brought me here before we started dating. I’m feeling nostalgic.)
(Fufu, I was kind of surprised when I heard that Will owned this mansion and plot of land.)
Kate: So this is the fun place you were talking about.
William: I’ve been so obsessed with you lately that I haven't visited this place in a while.
Will whispered as I looked up at him from the pocket of his coat.
William: Kate. Do you still remember the rules of this place?
Kate: There are two rules. Respect the other person’s free will, and no monetary transactions are allowed.
Kate: As long as you follow those rules, you’re free to exchange information, form friendships, have conversations… you can spend your time here as you please.
Kate: … Am I right?
William: Correct. Your memory is impressive.
(It’s not that I have a good memory. I remember everything about Will.)
Kate: That’s because… it's related to you.
William: Hmm?
William: Does that mean that you had feelings for me even before we became lovers?
Kate: T-That’s… true… but…
William: I just heard something good. My trip here tonight was worthwhile.
Kate: … Jeez, please don’t tease me.
William: That’s because your reactions are always so cute.
Will chuckled, and I heard several footsteps approaching.
(Someone’s coming. I need to hide!)
I hid myself deep inside Will’s pocket, and heard some voices at the same time.
Lively Young Man: How lucky of me to see you here tonight, Earl Rex.
William: Hey, Connor. I heard that your business has been flourishing lately. Remember to take good care of your health.
Long-Haired Lady: Earl Rex! I’ve been wanting to hear your opinions regarding women’s suffrage (the right to vote).
William: Certainly. We shall discuss it over some tea later.
Doctor with Mustache: Allow me to introduce myself as well. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Earl Rex.
William: Ah… Doctor Cedric Hamilton, is it? I heard that you’re very passionate about your research on developing new drugs.
Doctor Cedric: Goodness me! It is an honour to be remembered by someone as refined and intelligent as you are, Earl Rex.
(As always, he’s so popular…)
Approached by both men and women, Will engaged in multiple friendly conversations.
While it was obvious that a few of those people had taken an interest in him — I was the only person who knew his true identity.
(However—)
Despite my slight feeling of superiority, I couldn't help wishing that I were standing right next to him.
(Usually, I would gently intertwine our fingers, then Will would notice and pull me closer to him by the waist…)
William: Pardon me. We shall continue with our discussion after I quench my thirst with some wine.
With those words, Will managed to pull himself away from the crowd and left the room with me…
…
He gently took me out of his breast pocket at an empty stairwell.
Kate: Will? Weren’t you about to go get a drink…
William: That was what I was about to do… but there’s one thing I forgot.
(...? … He forgot something?)
William: Come here, Kate.
Will traced my cheek with his finger and pressed his signet ring against it.
Kate: Nn, nn…!?
William: I forgot to mark that you belong to me.
William: Hahaha. Now it's obvious to everyone who you belong to.
I felt my cheek, the imprint from William’s signet ring remained clearly visible.
(I’m glad… … He could tell that I was feeling lonely.)
Kate: … Will, me too.
William: You want to leave your mark on me too? Alright, anywhere you want.
Kate: Then I’ll leave it on your neck.
I pressed my lips to his neck and sucked on the skin, leaving a red mark that looked like a flower blooming.
While I was admiring it, I heard my stomach growl loudly…
Kate: Oh…
William: Fufu, shall we get something to eat and drink?
Will was about to put me back into his breast pocket, but…
Kate: I’ll wait for you here. Having me with you means that you have to move slower than usual, right?
William: Am I right to interpret that as you want me to return as quickly as possible?
Kate: W-Will…
William: Fufu, I understand. Thank you for your concern. I’ll be quick.
Will’s figure disappeared into the distance, leaving me alone in the moonlit corridor.
I touched my cheek again, the mark from his signet ring had become slightly fainter.
(How I wish it would never disappear… what am I even thinking)
And then, I heard footsteps coming from downstairs.
Kate: Welcome back, Wi—...
I stopped before finishing my sentence.

(Will went up the stairs… but the footsteps are coming from downstairs.)
The footsteps grew closer, and I was forcefully grabbed by an unknown man’s hand—.

EVENT RULES AND DETAILS
With our upcoming event we have had many people join our Discord server. This is the perfect time for us to release our FAQ about how we deal with events and such inside of them. If you are participating, please read through this!
THE SERVER
We have a leveling system in our server. The more you talk, the more you level up. We will kick people from the event if you have yet to reach CROOK aka LVL 5 as it is extremely easy to reach. All you have to do is talk. This is non-negotiable. CROOK is reachable within a day.
You must also give yourself roles from the role menu when you join! If you need help just ask a leader or mod. You will be also be kicked if you do not do this. We only require AGE and PRONOUNS. Other roles beside these DO NOT COUNT! Please do not join and not give yourself roles!
JOINING ONCE THE EVENT HAS STARTED
Please try and join before APRIL 1ST. Anyone who joins a week late (APRIL 8TH) will not be accepted into the event.
You must be active. We will be more lenient with the level rule if you have just joined but if you continue to not be active and haven’t reached common within a week you will likely be kicked from the event.
HOW IT WORKS
Most of the information is contained within the document accessible within the server's event channels.
Rather than word count, the leaderboard will be based upon the PERCENTAGE of how close you get to your word goal. Anyone who reaches their word count before the final few days will be asked to increase their goal to make it fair for slower writers.
Please do not hesitate to speak or join the server. We are extremely welcoming and active, but if you cannot respect our rules then you cannot participate in our events.

Ever wonder about the fics that don’t make it through the final round of voting for the bi-weekly read in the book club? You’re in luck!
The book club is structured so that we solicit nominations from our members, either based on a theme or a trope or simply a request for their favorites, and develop a list of ten nominations, which are then narrowed down to a top three. The top three fics end up in our weekend vote and the winner of that vote becomes our book club fic for that week.
With our next round being a Creative Round and with Valentine's Day close on the horizon, we solicited for nominations from our members for a fic with a momentous love confession that they most wanted to read and interact with creatively. With a very close vote, our two runners-up are as follows

“This is kind of surreal,” Shane says, taking a sip of his tea. It’s piping hot and delicious, except it tastes like hot chocolate and not like tea at all. “Sort of—Wonka-esque, right? Or Alice in Wonderland.”
“If you’re aiming a shot over the bow about my height you can fucking forget about it,” Ryan says, watching with interest as Shane’s cup refills by itself. “But yeah, it’s surreal. Literally, because dreams aren’t real.”
Shane’s unsettled by the comment. It sets alarm bells ringing in his head but he doesn’t know why. He just wasn’t expecting Dream Ryan to be so, well—so on the nose.

THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEPEOPLE FAQ
What is the League of Extraordinary Gentlepeople?
The League of Extraordinary Gentlepeople, or LXGP for short, is my current writing project: an AU of the 2003 movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which is in turn a loose adaptation of the series of comics of the same name co-created by Alan Moore and Sir Kevin O'Neill.
The basic synopsis of both comics and movie is as follows: a somewhat dysfunctional superhero team composed of nineteenth century literary characters go on politically charged adventures. The comics and movie are very different, and... very much acquired tastes. Albeit I recommend watching the movie! It's extremely cheesy. Fun too!
Ok, but- what is LXGP really about?
Glad you asked!
In the late XIXth century, a mysterious type known as Agent M sets off to recruit various individuals which he calls Extraordinary People and forms the League, claiming it is the key to preventing a world-wide war! But as events unravel, the League comes to realize M is not who he claims to be...
The LXGP stories are out of order, focusing on both retellings of scenes from the 2003 movie and original stories set after the events of the movie canon. While it is mostly based off the movie, there are elements from the comics, some dramatic changes, and the character designs and personalities are taken from my literary crossover "world", Candyverse! So they will be, in some ways, very different from what you have seen in the LXG franchise.
Hold on- Candyverse?
Candyverse is the name of my literary crossover setting! Expect most of the cast to consist of public domain literary characters (and some not so public domain ones). Don't mind the silly name- the character designs are mildly inspired by sweets in the sense that they are colorful and spunky! But don't be fooled, Candyverse is a pretty dark world.
In Candyverse, Earth is actually a fantasy world, in which elves and fairies and all sorts of mythical creatures used to live... but as people stopped believeing in magic and replacing it with science, it started becoming a science fiction world instead, with amazing technology that is downright futuristic. During its nineteenth century, it is at its most unstable, with gothic literary characters and events "bridging" the supernatural with straight up mad science. And that is precisely the time I am centered in, so expect some gaslamp fantasy and steampunk tech!
Once we delve more into the lore, expect meta stuff, too!
Which not so public domain characters?

How much time have you spent on this?
If I'm being honest? The concept of this AU came to me around 2020, in which I realized I had enough classic literature characters designed to cover the LXG roster with it- and I decided to jump to action. It has undergone a few changes since, but so far I'm satisfied with it. Also, don't be scared if a soft reboot comes along in a couple of years- I'm indecisive like that!
Why did you create it?
Do you want a honest answer? Just kidding.
I really like the LXG franchise, particularly the movie, though I'm aware it is an acquired taste. This project is meant to be a reply to all the missed opportunities in either comic and movie, and to common criticisms too. I make it with love and a little bit of anger (because SO MANY MISSED OPPORTUNITIES!), and I ride the inspiration unicorn as far as I can.
A shorter answer would be that the gothic lit fandom loves to spread misinformation about it and that drives me up the wall.
So... What's with the title?
The League's roster is only 2/6 men. It's only fair.

Can I trace over your art?
No. Tracing over any artists work and claiming it as your own is not right. Neither is selling my work etc. reposting my art (without my permission) is also not something I’m comfortable with!
Can I copy your art?
Copying is a vague term. If you like my style and want to replicate it - I don’t really mind that, unless you’re copying down to every detail. Then it gets a little weird. As an artist, I can tell if you’re trying to mimics me down to the bone. So try to figure out your own style!
What do you use to draw?
I currently use two things, my main one being my iPad (10th gen) with the Apple Pencil & procreate. I also (very rarely) use my xp-pen tablet 13” with photoshop. You do not need to buy the most expensive tablets or iPads to draw!
What do you like drawing the most?
Women women and more women! My art style is very colorful and I love drawing girls the most. Anime, fantasy characters are a favourite of mine as well.

but ive been really hooked on ikemen revolution lately!! my long time favorite has been ikemen vampire though, so just pick which one sounds better!!
would you rather
a) be in an alice in wonderland like setting where you have a lot of found family slash dysfunctional family dynamics and really cute romance development while also beating the shit out of a shady ass tower organization
b) romance HISTORICAL FIGURES and have everyone make fun of you even though theyre ALSO IN LOVE WITH HISTORICAL FIGURES /lh this game also has found family dynamics but theyre definitely not as strong as they are in ikerev...you get a LOT of drama though and yk vampire stuff.
if you pick a, i would HIGHLY recommend doing kyle's route first. its a lovely beginner route and i ADORED the relationship development and storytelling!!
if you pick b, i would recommend playing isaac's route first!! this is 10000% bias but i love that man so i have to vouch for him. hes a great starter route and his route is so well written too. im in love with him.
but also dont feel pressured to go with my recommendations if you play the prolouge and find a different character that you like!! go for who feels right.

When my vision cleared up, I saw a beautiful man with long hair standing in wait for me.
Kate: W-Where is this… I… I was in a bookstore just a moment ago, and then…
I didn't know where I was, nor did I know the person standing before me.
All I knew was that it wasn't the bookstore, and that I still had work to do.
Kate: Um, I’m in the midst of making a delivery, so I’d like to return to Kingsley Books.
Long-Haired Man: That'll be very difficult, I’m afraid.
Kate: Huh?
Long-Haired Man: Truth is, I don't know how to send you back to where you came from.
Amidst my confusion, the man who introduced himself as Victor calmly explained the situation with a reassuring smile.
The place I was currently in was— somewhere in between the fairytale world and the world I lived in.
Kate: … The fairytale world.
Victor: Do you remember being brought here by a book without a title?
Kate: I do. Does this mean that I’m now inside the world in that book?
Victor: Correct. Very quick and clever of you.
(My level of adaptability as a result of making mail deliveries is useful in this kind of situation.)
Kate: But, Victor… you mentioned a ‘twisted fairytale world’ earlier.
Victor: Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty.
Victor: Most fairytales follow a more or less similar kind of plotline that generally leads to a happy ending.
Victor: However, in this world, the stories deviate from their “original” plots, resulting in chaos. Their endings are far from happy.
Kate: … Why is this so?
Victor: That’s because… there’s something missing from each fairytale.
Kate: … Something missing? And what may that be?
Victor: I don't know what that is myself.
Victor: I believe that is your purpose here; you were brought into this world to look for that missing piece.
(In other words…)
Kate: If I find the missing piece, it will fix the twist in this fairytale world and give the stories a happy ending.
Kate: Then my job here will be done and—
Victor: You’ll be able to return to your world, perhaps.
