How many weekends had Kai lost to house inspections? He felt like he'd looked at every available place on the island. From a two bed near his parents, to the three bedroom with a garden in Carynthia, to the studio right in he centre of the city. He'd worked hard the last six months, going from one job to the next, saving his money. He knew getting a place would be hard, especially a place worthy of his daughter, and he'd wanted to make sure he had enough money to offer up front.

But even that didn't seem to work. Whether he went to the inspection alone, or took Minji along with him, they got rejected. For the apartment, the house, the studio. No one seemed to want to have a ex-con and his kid living in their home, even if that ex-con had worked seventy hour weeks to save up months and months of rent to pay up front.

Which is what led him to today. Walking up to a house on the outskirts of Wailing Waters (more of a cottage than anything, tucked beside the end of the beach that was more locals than tourists), with Dante by his side and Minji on the other clutching his hand. Did he have a plan? No. But maybe if they saw he was friends with someone with a good reputation like Dante? A respectable member of the community? Someone who hadn’t spent the last few years locked up.

"Just -- don't be fucking weird. Alright?" He glanced sideways at his friend for an agreement. Unspoken was how much he appreciated Dante agreeing to come along at all, but given how much Kai hated to ask for help in the first place, he was sure he knew.

GDI, once again I thought I was just a day or two behind and yeah, NO. Try almost a week. I blame BG3, CP77 and NMS for bludgeoning my brain and dragging it off into a locked room full of shiny content.

Reconstructing what I can remember since the last post on the 21st, didn't do much apart from cooking meals:

Aug 22 - Made fettuccine noodles from scratch (go me!) and froze half for a future meal. Served it for supper topped with a ground pork based meat sauce and chopped green onions.

Aug 23 - Baked a big pan of zucchini bread. Made a salad, oven fries, and fish burgers for supper.

Aug 24 - Cooked a couple of hot Italian sausages and served them with buttered boiled potatoes, yellow beans, and fried zucchini slices.

Aug 25 - Cooked a couple of hamburger patties and had them with french fries and corn on the cob.

Aug 26 - Went for a walk. Ran a load of laundry. Grabbed the last of the premade pizzas out of the freezer for supper.
